- Typing with Siri: Instead of using voice commands, you can type using the keyboard. To do this, activate the function at Settings > Are common > Availability > Siri > To recruit text v Siri.
iPad Pro replaces computers
Apple calls regular computers `` trucks '' and claims that iPad tablet Pro is enough for all needs. In some cases, tablets are sufficient, but not in all. The developers have introduced some improvements to the iPad-only iOS 11 system to make the device more productive. This will allow you to use it more often instead of a computer.
- Dock: New customizable dock contains up to 15 apps (or app folders). The three additional slots on the right show the most recently launched applications. The dock opens with a gesture upward in any application.
- Drag and drop: you can select one object by clicking on it, and if you continue to hold it and then click on other objects, you can select several of them at once. Then you can open the dock, click on the application and place the selected objects in it. This works with the new Files app too. Dragging and dropping files in it makes the tablet look more like a computer than a big smartphone.
- Split View: Apple has improved Split View on iPad, introducing a feature Slide over... You need to open the dock with a gesture upward, click on the application icon and drag it to right side screen to launch in a narrow window. This will make it easier to switch between apps using the Dock and Split View. If you have a keyboard, you can switch with the familiar Mac keyboard shortcut Command-Tab.
- App Switcher: When you browse the action center (swipe up all the way), you will see the changed app switcher. There are miniatures here latest applications and jobs, giving quick access to them. Users will be able to spend less time on the home screen and more in work applications.
- Apple Pencil: Tapping the screen will instantly launch the Notes app. In other Apple apps, you can tap the screen to create an Instant Markup that lets you write in PDF files or in the screenshots.
Files: iOS gets the file system
New Files app brings expected to iOS since 2007 file system... Open the app and you will see a search bar with three different areas: Locations, Favorites, and Tags.
Locations let you access files in iCloud Drive on your device or in the Trash when recent deletion... You can access files from third-party storage such as Dropbox.
Files provide other options as well:
iOS 11 Brings Changes to Easier Deployment Apple devices at enterprises. Apple partners like Deloitte, IBM, Cisco, and JAMF are helping with this through technology services.
iOS 11 received the following features in this direction:
- MDM services will be able to promote iOS updates to monitored devices, even if they are locked.
- You can add any device to the Device Enrollment program.
- MDM commands can be configured to run only when connected via a wired connection.
- New restrictions prevent corporate users from adding their VPNs.
- You can enable signing and encryption in Mail and Exchange separately from each other.
- System administrators can customize home screens and app installs on Apple TV.
- Can integrate Cisco Spark and WebEx into iOS apps 11.
Faster and smarter Safari browser
Browsing the Internet quickly and easily has been Apple's success since the introduction of the iMac in 1999. The latest version of the Safari browser on iOS will hit millions of users. This year the focus is on speed and safety.
Security improvements will have big influence per users. The blocking of cookies will be simplified and the protection of Intelligent Tracking Prevention will be improved, which uses artificial intelligence to reduce cross-site tracking.
Safari supports the new HEVC video codec (H.265). This means more quality video while reducing file sizes compared to H.264.
The search bar of the browser will allow you to monitor the flight schedule and find out the definition of words.
As in the browser version on the system High sierra Safari on iOS supports WebRTC. This opens the door to cross-platform video chatting in the browser.
Corporate chat bots
Apple announced a partnership with Nuance at WWDC 2017 developer conference in June to create a bot service for the Messaging app called Business Chat. Apple plans to integrate Nuance's Digital Customer Engagement platform with Business Chat. This will spawn a new generation of digital assistants in Messages, showing small message icons on sites and in search results. Nuance's asynchronous messaging technology has already been used on other bot-enabled platforms. Large companies such as Bank of America, Domino's, FedEx and USAA also use Nuance's product.
Businesses exploring B2C or B2B bot technology will find that Apple solutions will enable customers to find and start a conversation from Safari, Maps, Spotlight and Siri browsers on tens of millions of mobile devices.
iOS and Control Center
Every iOS user interacts with the control center. The upward gesture opens numerous objects for quick access. iOS 11 has seen significant improvements in this regard, including a redesign where everything is now combined in one window. A number of new functions have appeared, users can choose the tools available in the control center ( Settings > Control center).
Customization options are limited; you cannot add third-party widgets, remove certain tools such as Airplane mode, Wi-Fi, AirDrop, rotation lock, AirPlay and Music.
The control center has one more convenient opportunity: 3D Touch-style interaction even without physical 3D Touch support on the device. You can press firmly on the flashlight widget and swipe to increase the brightness, you can also set the time on the iPhone SE timer, and more.
Improved maps
Maps continue to be enhanced with features like top-down view of the city in augmented reality. Use your device's camera and sensors to track your location and move your 3D display in major cities such as London or New York. To view it, find a city and click on the Flyover button.
The potential for this feature will grow as more cities are added, but Apple is also working on the effectiveness of maps in moving from point A to point B. iOS 11 offers maps of premises, such as large shopping centers, airports, etc. There are also other innovations:
- Do not disturb while driving mode will prevent distractions while driving when notifications arrive.
- Lane Guidance helps you choose the correct lane before a bend.
- Speed limit screen, for starters on US roads.
- Light Guidance mode will open a bird's eye view to help you choose your direction of travel.

Improved collaboration
Nobody likes complicated settings for combining different devices. iOS 11 will make this process easier:
- Automatic setup: if you bought a new iOS device. Place it next to your other iOS 11 device or your High Sierra Mac that is signed in to your Apple ID. Many personal settings, iCloud passwords Keychain will be transferred to the new device.
- Instant Wi-Fi: iOS 11 users can allow others to use their Wi-Fi network by holding devices close to each other, authenticating and automatically transferring the password. This will come in handy in schools and businesses.
- Scan QR Codes: The Camera app will automatically scan and recognize QR codes. Aim the device at the code, press to focus and the notification will allow you to take action with the code. This is useful for automatic configuration Wi-Fi networks, HomeKit devices, contact cards, website addresses, etc.
- Core: new framework iOS 11 will allow developers to create apps that can read NFC tags... While the possibilities are limited - it only works in one direction. You can use a framework to access information about museum exhibits, rather than more complex payment systems.
Images
Apple is actively working to improve image quality. Last year, the iPhone 7 Plus featured a bokeh effect. IOS 11 has its own innovations:
- The biggest innovation will be the introduction of support for the HEIF photo format. It is based on the HVEC video format and is capable of saving half the size of JPEGs at higher quality (up to 16 bit versus 8 bit).
- Apple has developed a way to transcode images from HEIF to JPEG on the fly, without sacrificing performance.
- When using the iPhone 7 Plus, Portrait Mode in iOS 11 supports optical stabilization images and, which will improve the quality of photos in low light.
- Added new filters to enhance image quality, including one for natural skin display.
- Live Photos have received several enhancements. They can be shared via GIF animation (or mp4 on Android), you can set key image and apply three effects: loop, reflection and long exposure. The latter blurs everything moving in the frame, leaving the subject in focus.
Scan documents and notes
The Notes application has been waiting for popularity for many years. With the advent of iOS 10, it became budget replacement Evernote, and iOS 11 adds a lot of flexibility. For corporate users, this is a great tool for keeping receipts and other expenses in one place while traveling:
