Windows 10 how to offload a low-power processor. The task of these services has already been taken over by the antivirus.

Everyone wants their computer to run at peak performance. Often when the system is running, unnecessary processes are turned on, unnecessary programs are open that slow down the performance. Therefore, it is important to know how you can increase the speed of your computer and improve performance.

Methods to Improve Computer Performance on Windows 10

There are different methods of improving performance, and we will cover the main ones.

Computer overclocking

It is worth mentioning right away that overclocking a computer forces its devices to work outside the default settings. In some cases, especially if the user is not careful, this can be dangerous to the equipment. All actions to overclock your computer you do at your own peril and risk, be extremely careful.

But before we start directly overclocking the device, it is worth taking care of high-quality cooling of the system:

  • clean the coolers, check their performance;
  • replace the thermal paste;
  • if possible, install additional, more efficient cooling systems.

The fact is that any overclocking is guaranteed to increase the heat output of your equipment, as well as the amount of energy that it consumes. This means making sure your system is cooling efficiently and your PSU's ability to cope with increased loads.

What parts of the computer can be overclocked

Of course, not all of your equipment can be accelerated in this way. Basically, the maximum efficiency is given by:

Of course, the overclocking process is not an easy matter and worthy of a description in a separate article, now we have just briefly examined what the essence of this procedure is.

Power settings

System performance also depends on the selected power mode. Windows 10 is set to balanced mode by default. It consumes less power due to the fact that the processor power is reduced in idle mode. Setting the high performance mode can completely free up resources and increase the performance of your computer.

This is done as follows:

Of course, enabling high performance will increase power consumption.

Disable unused Windows 10 services

Windows 10 uses many services that are not required by the average user. This includes both services that track user actions in the system, and various services and services from Microsoft. All of them can significantly slow down the speed of Windows.

Don't put too much emphasis on productivity programs. There are many programs out there that promise you unprecedented speed gains. Some of these programs simply do not work, while others can harm your computer. The most useful of them will produce the result that you can get in another way - by properly configuring the system.

Disk Defragmenter

Defragment your hard drive from time to time. Defragmentation is a fairly simple process that must be carried out at least once every few months of using your computer. This will increase the speed of access to files, which, in turn, will have a positive effect on the speed of the system. In order to conduct it:

The defragmentation process takes a long time, so it's best to plan ahead. For example, you can leave your computer running at night.

Malicious applications

If you are using standard Windows antivirus or don't have an antivirus program at all, viruses may be one of the reasons Windows 10 is slow. Try to check with reliable antivirus programs at least from time to time.

Updating Drivers

If you don't update your hardware drivers, your entire system can start to run rather slowly over time. In most cases, in Windows 10, the system itself handles updating drivers. However, you can always check which version of the driver you have installed through the Device Manager (you can access it from the menu that opens with the Win + X keyboard shortcut).

Superfluous programs at system startup

A common reason for a slow computer, especially right after turning it on, is too many programs that run along with the system. It's worth considering which ones you don't need.

Startup settings are located in the task manager, which can be accessed by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc. There you can easily see which programs are loaded automatically and disable unnecessary ones.

Cleaning temporary files

Any computer is clogged with information that is intended for temporary storage. You can get rid of it both manually and using special programs. Programs like CCleaner can help you with this. By analyzing and cleaning with such programs, you will experience an increase in productivity.

Customizing Desktop Graphics

The more various kinds of animation, translucency and other visual enhancements are used on your computer, the slower it will work. Fortunately, you can customize the display in such a way that you get both a pleasant desktop look and a high performance computer.

Follow these steps to complete this setup:

  1. Press the Win + X keyboard shortcut and select System from the list.
  2. On the left side of the screen, open the Advanced Options window.
  3. Next, in the "Advanced" tab, find the performance section and go to its settings.
  4. Here you can either select one of the preset settings in the "Visual Effects" tab, for example, set the best performance, or make these settings manually. After specifying the settings of visual effects convenient for you, click "Apply".

You can customize each item of the system interface, but in fact, you can safely turn off all items, except for two: leave the "Screen text smoothing" to make reading from the monitor more comfortable, and "Display thumbnails instead of icons" if you want to quickly navigate among the photos ...

Video: Customize Visual Effects

We've covered how you can quickly and easily increase the performance of your operating system. Of course, this is not all that can be said about increasing performance, but the steps and tips in this article will help you make better use of your computer's resources and increase its performance within reasonable limits.

Good day!

Have you ever wondered why two identical computers with the same OS can run at different speeds? One to instantly open folders, tabs in the browser, load in a few seconds, the other - constantly slowing down and thinking ...

A lot in terms of performance depends on the settings of the Windows OS. If you configure it correctly (usually they use the word optimize), you can significantly speed up your computer!

In this article, I want to talk about the basic steps to optimize Windows 10 (the most modern OS today). So...

Everything that is written below is not a panacea, and I am not the ultimate truth. But nevertheless, having followed all the recommendations step by step, your computer / laptop should become "faster". At least, where I do it - it always happens that way.

Disabling services: which ones are not needed

A very strong influence on the performance of the OS and the computer as a whole is exerted by the programs and services that it has to execute. Of course, dozens of services are enabled by default in Windows 10: developers don't know in advance if you have a printer or a fax! Meanwhile, all these services create a load on your system, so it is recommended to disable all unnecessary, thereby to achieve some acceleration.

Important! Do not disable all services, otherwise you risk not recognizing your Windows ... Some then even cannot return Windows to working condition and have to reinstall the system. In general, before optimization, it would be nice to make a system backup:.

How to view the list of services and disable some of them

First, right-click on the START menu, in the menu that appears, select the link .

When you open the properties window of a service, to disable it, do two things:

  1. startup type - disabled;
  2. state: stop (see arrows in the screenshot below).

List of services that "can" be disabled:

  • NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service- if your video card is not NVidia, then you can safely turn off the service;
  • Windows Search- helps to search for files on the disk. If you do not use search, disable it;
  • Offline files- can be disabled if the computer is connected to the Internet, and you do not use the local network;
  • Windows biometric service- most simply do not need it (you do not use fingerprints to log into Windows);
  • Computer browser- disable;
  • Windows Firewall - if you have installed any antivirus with a firewall included, then you can safely disable it (although usually, antiviruses themselves disable it during installation);
  • IP Helper- Supports the network protocol IPv6 (disable / do not disable depends on the parameters of your network. At the moment, most can be disabled);
  • Secondary login- if you have one account for logging into Windows - you can turn it off;
  • Grouping network participants
  • Print manager- can be disabled if there is no printer and you are not printing anything;
  • Network Participant Identity Manager- can be turned off if you do not use a local network;
  • Performance Logs and Alerts- can be turned off if you do not use these logs (in my opinion, 99% of users do not know about them ...);
  • Routing and remote access- can be turned off if there is no local network;
  • SSDP detection - can be turned off (I doubt that someone is using this at home);
  • Smart Card Removal Policy- if you do not use smart cards, you can disable it.
  • Windows Event Collector- can be turned off;
  • Xbox Live Networking Service- if you are not using the Xbox Live service, then turn it off;
  • Network login- not necessary for home use;
  • Tablet PC Input Service- on a regular PC, you can turn it off;
  • Geographic location service- you can also turn it off (monitors the position of the PC);
  • Windows Image Download Service (WIA)- if you do not have a scanner, camera (or you do not plan to connect them), you can turn it off;
  • Client license service- used to run the Windows 10 store, i.e. can be turned off;
  • Bluetooth support service- if you are not using Bluetooth, you can turn it off;
  • Program Compatibility Assistant Service- in general, recently, compatibility problems have rarely arisen, so you can disable it (especially since this service is unlikely to help you with anything);
  • Windows Error Logging Service- can be turned off;
  • Smart card - if not in use, you can turn it off;
  • Remote registry- can be turned off;
  • Application Identity- if you don't use AppLocker (or don't know what it is), you can disable it;
  • Fax - many do not have it, so we disable it (if not needed);
  • Windows Update- the service is responsible for updating the OS. In general, in some cases it heavily loads the system, as a result of which the computer starts to slow down. I recommend disabling the services and updating the systems manually from time to time.

Cleaning the registry, deleting junk files

Over time, any version of Windows accumulates a fairly large amount of "garbage":

  1. erroneous entries in the registry, "tails" from old programs that have long been removed, etc.;
  2. temporary files used when installing games / software, when unzipping various archives, etc.;
  3. erroneous and incorrect labels;
  4. browser cache (sometimes it grows by several gigabytes), etc.

All this "junk" can significantly affect the performance of your computer, and from time to time it needs to be cleaned. In general, I already have several articles on my blog devoted to this issue, therefore, in order not to repeat myself, I will give links to them here.

Disk Defragmenter

Owners of SSDs (solid state drives) can skip this chapter of the article because You don't need to defragment SSD drives ...

If you do not go into complex tech. details, then when files are written to disk, they are written in "pieces" (fragments), and the file system is needed just to control where which fragments are on the disk. As the disk is working, such fragments become more and more, and in order to read any file, you have to spend more and more time (this moment is called fragmentation).

Defragmentation it is intended to change the location of the fragments on the disk in order to place them continuously (he explained it chaotically, but I think the meaning will be clear) ... For more details about the process, see here -.

How to defragment Windows

First, you need to run the Disk Analysis and Defragmenter Wizard. For this:

  1. press the button combination Win + R;
  2. then enter the command dfrgui and press Enter.

Then the disk optimization wizard should open: select your hard disk and press the button "Analyze"... Based on the results of the analysis, the wizard will tell you whether you need to defragment the disk, or everything is in order and so ...

Configuring Windows Startup

Some of the programs that you install register themselves at startup. Moreover, some of them are rarely used by you, but they "force" themselves to start every time you turn on your computer and boot Windows. Naturally, this does not have a positive effect on performance.

To check startup in Windows 10 - just open Task Manager (buttons Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

In the task manager, you need to open the tab and sort programs by their impact on load (high, medium, low). First of all, look at the software that has a strong impact on the download: those programs that you do not need every day - feel free to disable and remove from startup.

Special focus on programs: torrents, video and audio editors, image editors, games, etc. highly demanding applications.

I also cannot recommend the application to control startup. Iobit Uninstaller... In general, on my blog there is a separate article on Windows 10 startup, I recommend it for review (link below).

Updating old drivers

Driver - driver strife ...

A lot in terms of computer performance depends on drivers. For example, I myself have repeatedly come across a difference in the performance of a video card () depending on the driver version (although the driver manufacturer is the same ...).

In general, it happens in different ways: sometimes the new driver works better, sometimes the old one. If you are faced with unstable operation of the device, I recommend downloading several driver versions from the official website of this device and testing them one by one.

Since I already have several articles on my blog devoted to this issue, I will give links here that will help you solve the problem with the drivers ...

Optimization and tuning of the video card // acceleration in games

Many users optimize Windows not so that the OS itself starts to work faster, but so that the desired game stops slowing down and produces more FPS (frames per second).

In addition to updating the video driver (which I talked about in the section above), it is recommended to adjust the game and the video driver itself accordingly. I have several articles on this on my blog, I cite the links below (I recommend that you read the one that is suitable for your equipment ...).

Note! Many users ignore these guidelines. Meanwhile, you can significantly improve the performance of games, just by changing a few parameters in the settings. Moreover, the difference in the quality of the picture (and they will become lower) - not every experienced gamer will notice ...

Turn on performance // in Windows settings

In Windows 10 (and not only in it) there are special parameters that automatically disable everything "relatively unnecessary" to ensure high system performance. It's a sin not to take advantage of this ...

First, open the Windows Control Panel at the following location: Control Panel \ System and Security ... Find the section there and open it (screenshot below).

Then in the system properties (tab "Additionally" , it is it that opens by default) open the performance parameters (arrow 1 in the screenshot below). Then in the tab "Visual effects" set the slider to the best performance mode (arrow 2).

Save the settings (the appearance of the OS may deteriorate slightly).

Disable indexing of files on the disk

Windows 10 has a special service that indexes files unnoticed by the user. This is necessary so that you can quickly find any file. But from my own experience, I can say that a very small number of users use the search, others just know the folder in which the necessary files are located ...

Despite the fact that the indexing goes "unnoticed", in some cases it seriously affects performance ("extra" load on the hard disk).

It is logical that it is advisable to disable it if you do not use Windows search. To do this, you need to open the service section (right click on the START menu and select "Computer Management" then on the left select "Services") and find a service Windows Search ... Then you can open and stop it (in general, I talked about this in detail in the first part of this article, see above).

Then open "My Computer / This Computer", then open the properties of the desired disk (right-click on the disk and select "properties" from the context menu) .

Power settings // for high performance

Power settings can seriously affect computer performance (most of all, this applies to mobile devices: laptops, netbooks, tablets, etc.). The fact is that manufacturers, taking care of a longer battery life of the device, make several power supply modes: balanced, high performance, economical, etc. Depending on which mode is selected, some of your capabilities may be limited in auto mode. devices!

If you are already into optimization, I suspect there are some complaints about the speed of the device. Therefore, at least temporarily (even if you are running on battery power), try turning on the power to the maximum performance mode .

To do this, you need to go to the Windows Control Panel along the path: Control Panel \ Hardware and Sound ... Then open the section.

Then pay attention to several schemes, in my case there are 3 of them:

  1. balanced - automatic observance of the balance between performance and energy consumption on suitable equipment;
  2. energy saving - minimum power consumption by reducing computer performance whenever possible;
  3. high performance - max. performance (may require more power).

After choosing high performance, save the settings and see if the speed of your applications (games), Windows itself has changed ...

That's all, error-free and fast Windows operation ...

As you might have guessed, in this article we will try to tell you about how to speed up your computer on Windows 10. I would like to say right away that in most cases such an article will be useless, since the new "ten" already works quite "smartly" ... If you still can't wait to "optimize" something, then let's not postpone the beginning and get down to business right now.

Before speeding up Windows 10

Before talking about how to speed up Windows 10, it is worth saying a few words about what precedes it, namely. There are several rules that, if ignored, will significantly slow down your PC's performance. First of all, this should include the compliance of the computer with the system requirements of the operating system, as well as the correct choice of the distribution kit, which can speed up the download much more tangibly than any other measures.

It is unlikely that you will be able to achieve good performance if your computer has a single core processor and less than 2GB of RAM.

Moreover, to work with the top ten was comfortable, it is desirable increase the amount of RAM to 4GB (or more)... If these requirements are not met, it is practically impossible to optimize Windows 10 for a weak computer. Since most of the time he will be busy not performing useful tasks, but reallocating resources, it is almost impossible to speed up the loading of such a PC.

The second point is the choice of the Windows distribution kit.

High-quality work is a priori possible only in those cases when you installed the original system, and did not use one of the so-called "assemblies" of Windows - handicraft packages that represent a system disfigured by ignoramuses, loaded with useless junk, which can be called nothing more than "whistles and fakes ".

If the name of your Windows 10 includes something in the style of "Xtreme edition" or contains the postscript "by ...", then it is better to immediately demolish such an OS and reinstall Windows from original MSDN images or another copy of the licensed disc (ideally from the licensed disc itself). Despite the fact that in this case you will have to install additional software (office, browsers, etc.) manually, so you can achieve the maximum performance gain and speed up the loading of the PC and Windows itself.

Removing unnecessary from startup

To speed up Windows 10 - just throw unnecessary components from startup. The fact is that a huge number of programs, being installed, register themselves in a special area of the system, forcing it to launch them every time the PC is turned on. It is quite normal if the system utility of the video card or sound card does this, but if any rubbish tends to autorun, then your computer will boot up significantly longer, crunching reliably with the hard drive every time you turn it on.

So, in order to throw out the unnecessary from the Windows 10 startup and, thereby, speed up the computer, you should do the following:

  1. Press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right-click on the taskbar and select "Task Manager";
  2. If the dispatcher has started minimized, click on the "Details" button in the lower left corner of the window;

  1. Examine the list of programs, paying particular attention to those that have a high impact on the boot process;
  2. To disable an unnecessary program, right-click on it and select “Disable”;
  3. At the end of the "cleaning" close the window and restart your PC - the result will be visible immediately.

If you realized that you have disabled something you need, you can always repeat the procedure again, however, select "Enable" on the mistakenly disabled item. In other words, it is quite difficult to break something using this application, but to speed up Windows startup is quite.

Speed up Windows 10: Understanding Services

In addition to traditional programs, Windows also has so-called "services" - special service applications that provide the operating system with additional capabilities. It just so happened that not all of them are needed for most computers to work. In this section, we will look at how to disable some services in order to speed up the download, and also tell you how to understand whether you need them or not.

Print manager

This Windows service is essential if you own a printer or simply use the print dialog to save files in XPS or PDF format. If you still haven't got hold of a printer, and you hear about PDF and XPS formats for the first time - in order to speed up loading, this Windows service can be safely disabled.

Windows firewall

This service allows your computer to monitor network security, however, if you have a third-party firewall or one of the modern antivirus packages equipped with this function installed, the built-in Windows firewall can be turned off - this will also slightly speed up the OS boot.

Secondary login

If your computer has several accounts working at the same time, then you need this service, because it is this service that allows several users to work simultaneously on one PC. If there is only one user, then in order to speed up the boot of Windows, this service can be disabled.

Windows Image Download Service

To speed up the boot of Windows 10, this service can also be disabled, however, if you own a scanner, MFP or digital camera, then it is better not to take this step - the above devices will simply stop performing their functions.

Various third party services

Many apps also like to add their own services that can slow down your PC. Answering the question of how to speed up a computer on Windows 10, one should not miss them. As a rule, they are quite easy to distinguish from the "original" ones - as a rule, the description and name of third-party services is written in English. You can independently find among them those that you no longer need.

How do I disable services?

So, in order to finally figure out how to optimize the work of Windows, it remains to find out the last moment - how can you disable the above services. Here's a simple instruction:

  1. Press Win + R;
  2. Enter: msc

  1. Click OK.
  2. In the list that appears on your screen, find the service you want to disable;
  3. Right-click on it and select "Stop";
  4. To prevent the service from starting the next time you turn on the PC, double-click on it - this will open its properties;
  5. In the Startup Type box, select Disabled and click OK.

Optimizing the Start Menu

If in Windows 8 one of the features was "live tiles", which were on a separate screen, then in the top ten it was abolished. Interactive tiles are now on the Start menu. Despite the fact that their number has decreased and they have become more compact, such an interactive seriously takes up resources. Units use these live tiles, so if you don't see the need for them, turn them off.

It's easy to do:

Actually, that's all.

Disable visual and sound effects

For beauty you have to flesh with speed. All this animation of minimizing and maximizing windows, displaying a shadow from the mouse and numerous other sound and animation effects can slow down the system. Therefore, if you set out to speed up your PC on W indows 10, then it is better to disable this beauty.

That's all. Believe me - the above methods are the most effective method to optimize the work of Windows 10. As for the various "accelerators", for one positive action they make 5 malicious ones, and also hamper the startup.

The relatively new operating system Windows 10 is gaining popularity. And even for those users whose computers do not differ in special performance. That is why the issue of optimizing Windows 10 has become topical. Microsoft is constantly improving its operating systems and each time making their settings more and more flexible. Their correct configuration, together with the use of third-party software, will allow us to achieve maximum performance even on not the newest PCs. Optimizing any operating system, including Windows 10, is a complex process that requires the right, consistent approach. Configuring and optimizing Windows 10 will be described in detail in this article.

How to speed up your Windows 10 PC with an update

"Ten" appeared quite recently. It is clear that initially it was rather "raw", but the developers are constantly working on their product and releasing updates that make the system more efficient, more reliable and safer.

Updating Drivers

This method significantly increases the performance of the computer. It is especially important to update the drivers of all devices after updating Windows from version 7 to version 10, and not after a "clean" installation. Many drivers are suitable for both OS, but some may experience difficulties, up to the termination of the device. For example, your sound card might stop working completely.

Here are a few signs by which you can understand that some drivers do not work as they should, or do not work at all:

  • the multimedia keys of the keyboard do not work;
  • on the laptop, the screen brightness has ceased to be adjusted;
  • part of the system settings has disappeared;
  • the display resolution has changed;
  • the auxiliary mouse keys have ceased to work.

Automatic driver update applications

It is not always convenient to search for drivers manually. Firstly, we do not have confidence in the reliability of the resource on which the download will be carried out, and secondly, it is good if there is only one driver: if there are 10 of them, then the update can take a long time.

Consider a few programs that make the process easier:

  • Driver Pack Solution. The main advantage of this utility is the ability to update even without a network connection (offline version). The application scans your PC and then provides a list of drivers that need to be installed or updated. In the process of performing the update, an informative progress bar is displayed, which shows how much is left until the end of the update. When the process is completed, the computer will require a reboot and the new drivers will take over;

Download DriverPack Solution
  • Driver Booster. This program has no disadvantages other than its cost. In all other respects, this is a combination of advantages: the work is carried out quickly and efficiently, and there is no probability of downloading an erroneous driver. Just like Driver Pack Solution, the application scans the system and installs new driver versions. Before you start making changes, Windows is backed up, so that its state can be easily returned to its original position;

Download Driver Booster
  • Slim Drivers. An important advantage of this program is driver scanning. It can even find software that was missed by previous utilities. The overall check of all devices is also impressive (it took us about 30 seconds).

Download Slim Drivers

This is one of the most important points in improving the performance of Windows 10. The Top Ten is designed in such a way that after receiving updates, it begins to distribute them to other PCs, respectively, we consume the speed of the disk subsystem, the speed of the central processor and the Internet. The distribution of updates using torrent technology is working, and archives with updates that have already been unpacked and installed are stored on the computer disk, taking up extra space.

In order to disable distribution of updates, do the following:

  1. Open the Windows 10 settings menu (you can find it through the search).

  1. Go to the "Update and Security" section.

  1. On the left side of the window, click on the inscription, which we marked with a red rectangle, and on the right - "Additional parameters".

  1. Scroll down the content of the mute window and select the item indicated in the screenshot.

  1. It remains only to switch the trigger to the "Off" position. Ready. System updates will be downloaded, installed, and uninstalled immediately.

Speed up by disabling OneDrive

Microsoft has tightly coupled cloud storage OneDrive and the tenth version of its operating system. This is a very useful service that automatically synchronizes any of your data with its server and allows you to restore it at any time. But if you do not need this technology, you can safely turn off the cloud and, thus, save a little more traffic and processing power of the CPU.

There are two ways to disable OneDrive. While the former simply disables the program, the latter completely removes it from the PC. For example, if the storage is still of interest to you, but there is no time to deal with it yet, you can turn off the cloud and try later. If there are no plans to work with OneDrive at all, then feel free to uninstall the program.

Disable OneDrive in Windows 10

In order to remove the cloud storage OneDrive, you need to call the context menu by right-clicking on the cloud located in the system tray.

We select the item "Parameters".

Go to the "Options" tab and remove both icons from the items indicated in the screenshot. Then we press "OK".

Click on the cloud in the Windows 10 tray again with the right mouse button and click on the "Exit" item.

After that, the cloud from Microsoft will be disabled and will not disturb you with its presence.

Delete completely

This method will erase all cloud files, and you can restore it only by downloading the program again.

  1. To remove OneDrive from PC, we need a command line. You need to run it as administrator. Let's use the Windows 10 search engine (the icon on the left side of the taskbar). Enter the word "cmd" in the search field, right-click on the result obtained and select "Run as administrator".

taskkill / f / im OneDrive.exe

We kill the system process.

\% SystemRoot% \ SysWOW64 \ OneDriveSetup.exe / uninstall

We launch the standard utility to deactivate OneDrive. If you have an x86 system, then write:

% SystemRoot% \ System32 \ OneDriveSetup.exe / uninstall

rd “% UserProfile% \ OneDrive” / Q / S

We delete the directory with user settings.

rd “% LocalAppData% \ Microsoft \ OneDrive” / Q / S

Delete the cloud-related system settings directory.

rd “% ProgramData% \ Microsoft OneDrive” / Q / S

We erase the remnants in ProgramData.

rd “C: \ OneDriveTemp” / Q / S

We clean up temporary files.

This algorithm may not work on all PCs. It should be applied selectively - try to see if it will work for you. At least you won't do any harm to the disabled OneDrive.

Disable sending reports

Why, in general, are such reports needed? The fact is that to improve the system, the developers take into account the information about the errors of all users and, on its basis, create updates that correct the situation. This feature can be disabled. This will not only save you from annoying alerts, but also speed up Windows a little. In the article on, we described how to disable the sending of such reports even during installation. Now let's look at how to do this on a running system.

Follow our instructions:

  1. Open the system settings - you can do this through the notification panel. Click on the notification icon in the system tray and select the "All options" button.

  1. Go to the "Confidentiality" section.

  1. On the left side of the window we find "Reviews and Diagnostics", and on the right side we disable the trigger indicated in the screenshot.

Thereafter, system performance data will not be sent to Microsoft.

Turn off background tasks to improve performance

Windows has applications and their background processes that load the hardware even when the program itself is not running. For example, the same Xbox, which users do not need from the word "at all". Nevertheless, the program works and takes away some of the RAM and CPU speed from the PC. Let's restore justice and disable unnecessary processes running in the background.

We do the following:

  1. We open the computer settings through the search for Windows 10 in the way indicated in the screenshot.

  1. Click on the tile that says "Privacy".

  1. On the left, we press "Background applications", and on the right, we can individually disable unnecessary programs or deactivate everything at once.

Note: The apps themselves will not stop working. The background service, which is responsible for fast startup and receiving notifications, will be disabled.

Optimizing hard drive performance

Monitoring the state of the hard drive was relevant in all versions of Windows. Windows 10 introduces new, improved media algorithms, including full support for SSDs (Solid State Drives on Chipsets). Accordingly, after the increase in the speed of the hard drive, the boot time of the system decreases and its performance as a whole increases. By default, the HDD is defragmented once a week or month (you cannot defrag an SSD), but it is better to turn off automatic mode and perform the process yourself.

To do this, we will take the following steps:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the drive we need. We select "Properties".

  1. Go to the "Service" menu and press the button labeled "Optimize".

  1. The "Optimize" button is needed to start the defragmentation process.

  1. Let's turn off the defragmentation scheduler. To do this, click "Change parameters".

  1. In the window that opens, uncheck the boxes opposite the inscriptions "Execute on schedule" and "Notify in case of missing three scheduled executions in a row."

Acceleration of work by disabling unnecessary services

Disabling unnecessary background processes in optimizing Windows 10 for games and more is an essential component. As soon as the operating system starts, a lot of services start working with it. Many of them are important to the OS, but there are others that waste CPU performance.

It's simple - the developers decided not to cheat, they provided users with a full set of services on the principle "some, but they will come in handy." We are not going to put up with this state of affairs and turn off those processes that we do not need at all. In order to configure the services as we need, we right-click on the "Start" button. In the new menu, select the "Computer Management" section.

What services can be disabled in Windows 10

But which services can be disabled - you ask. Take your time, we will tell you everything in order. Initially, it will be useful to create a system restore checkpoint. If something goes wrong, you can always undo the changes.

Here is a list of services that you can disable:

  • printer manager (if you are not going to print);
  • Windows Search. Can be disabled if you do not need search (the service requires a lot of system resources);
  • Windows Update. Updates can be installed manually - this way you save PC performance;
  • application services. Many programs, for example, Google Chrome, leave the service running even after they themselves are closed. Such a service is needed to automatically update and accelerate the launch of programs.

Note: the list may vary depending on the hardware you are using and the OS version. For example, if the printer is not connected, then there is no need for a print service.

Optimizing the system registry

The Windows operating system, due to the specifics of its work, constantly accumulates various information in the registry, sometimes even erroneous, and from this it gradually slows down. Since the "Ten" is a fairly new OS, users have not yet been able to fully feel all the hardships that 2 - 3 years of work without reinstallation lead to.

The registry needs to be defragmented and cleaned of unnecessary entries. For this we need additional programs. There is one more way - manual. To do this, the system tool "regedit" is launched and an experienced user makes changes to the registry, finding the required directory and key. This may be necessary, for example, when a certain driver was installed incorrectly and because of this it is impossible to install a new one. That's when you have to manually clean the remnants of the old software.

Let's consider several applications that can cope with the task of cleaning the system registry:

  • Reg Organizer. Convenient and functional utility that does its job perfectly. The free version lacks the registry optimization feature;

  • CCleaner. Completely free tool not only for optimizing the registry, but also for cleaning the system as a whole. The program has many functions, an intuitive interface and quality of work;

  • Windows Cleaner. Cleans the system from garbage and scans the registry for errors. It is completely free.

Improving download speed

Some applications, after their installation, are registered in the system startup and during the next startup are included along with Windows. As a result, a program that we do not need today can hang running all day and consume a large amount of RAM all this time. To prevent this from happening, you need to edit the startup list.

  1. Go to the "Startup" tab and see what we have here. To disable an unnecessary program, select it and click the "Disable" button.

As a result, the program will no longer start with Windows.

Attention! If you are not sure about the purpose of this or that application, before turning it off, use the standard function and read the information on the Internet.

Autostart of programs is carried out not only from the "Startup" folder. Applications can also be registered in the registry. In order to remove them from there, you need to use special software, which we will talk about below.

Startup applications

It is much more convenient to work with autorun through specialized software. AIDA 64 is a very convenient tool. In general, it is needed to obtain detailed information about the PC and its optimization, but there is also a convenient tool for working with startup.

Another good way to fix the startup list is CCleaner we described. To use it, go to the "Service" tab and select "Startup". Here you can not only disable programs, but also delete them.

Microsoft has released its own tool for editing the list of applications loaded with the system. It's called Autoruns. The program is supplied in an archive containing 32 and 64-bit versions that do not require installation. Autoruns features the highest functionality among competitors. Here you can even remove background processes that have been registered in the registry from autorun.

Task Scheduler

Some programs in the Windows operating system can be launched only on a specific event. That is why we will touch on the task scheduler.

You can access the utility integrated into the system as follows:

  1. Open the "Administration" program by typing its name in the search for "Tens".

  1. We launch the "Task Scheduler".

  1. We follow the path indicated on the left side of the planner. Here are the upcoming events. If necessary, they can be disabled by opening the context menu.

Be careful when uninstalling programs. You can easily harm the system by disabling the desired service.

Working with Windows 10 performance

The creators of Windows took into account all the preferences in the development of the system and gave users a toolkit that allows you to customize the visual appearance of Windows and, accordingly, change the requirements for resources.

We do the following:

  1. Right-click on the "Start" icon and select "System".

  1. Further - the item "System Information".

  1. Go to the "Additional system parameters" menu.

  1. In the "Advanced" tab, press the "Options" button.

  1. Then just switch the trigger to the "Provide the best performance" position and click "OK".

After that, all animations, effects and other beauties will be disabled, which will significantly save the use of RAM and CPU resources.

We clean the hard drive from debris

The performance and the amount of free space on the hard disk can drop due to the so-called junk files that accumulate during the operation of the system. Optimizing Windows 10 includes deleting these files and cleaning up the disk. In this case, you can use both standard Windows tools and third-party software.

The Top Ten has a Disk Cleanup tool that we are going to try now. In order to run it and start cleaning the hard drive, do the following:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the desired disk. In the context menu that opens, select the "Properties" item.

  1. In the next window, press the button labeled "Disk Cleanup".

  1. In the next step, mark the items that should be cleaned up and click on "Clean up system files".

After that, the cleaning process itself will begin. Remember to save all data and close running programs.

How to speed up your work with proper defragmentation

Defragmenting magnetic media is a critical part of increasing system speed. There are several ways to do this. The built-in capabilities are worth noting first.

The following procedure is envisaged:

  1. Open the explorer and right-click on the desired disk. In the menu that opens, we need the "Properties" item.

  1. In the window that opens, select the "Service" tab and click "Optimize".

  1. Here you can see how fragmented the disk is. In our case, everything is fine, since the automatic optimization works, which defragments it once a week.

  1. To start optimization, click the "Optimize" button, and if you want to set the automatic mode, then click on "Change parameters".

If, as in our case, the percentage of fragmentation is 0 - 15%, then no work needs to be done. If more, then you can optimize the disk. It is important to remember that for the utility to work, you need to have as much free disk space as the largest file on it takes. In terms of time, the process can take from 5 minutes to several hours. It all depends on the degree of media clutter.

It is strictly forbidden to use a defragmenter for SSD drives. Instead of benefit, you will receive only tens of times more wear and tear, which in the end will lead to early damage to the device.

Defragmentation using third-party programs

The built-in utility of Windows 10 is good, it has stepped forward significantly when compared to 7 and 8, however, there are also better solutions in the form of third-party software.

Consider several programs that can optimize the Windows 10 hard drive and eliminate the fragmentation of its files:

  • PiriformDefraggler is a relative of the famous CCleaner. The tool is "smarter" than the standard utility: it can analyze a much larger amount of data. Also, its advantage is complete free of charge. The interface is clear and straightforward. As you can see in the screenshot, the program found fragmentation where the "Ten" assured us of zero problems.

Download PiriformDefraggler
  • Auslogics Disk Defrag. Another powerful program similar to the previous one. The tool is distributed free of charge, and its functionality goes far beyond the usual defragmentation.

There are several defragmentation levels in the program operation mode. The first, superficial, is designed to quickly scan and fix basic problems (you need to do it once a week). There is also an in-depth analysis, which takes much more time, and it is enough to carry out it once a month.

Only one antivirus!

No computer can do without an antivirus. It is important to use quality software that can handle most threats. But sometimes users make a gross mistake and install 2 or even more antiviruses. Programs begin to scan each other, conflict and slow down the PC, and the latter sometimes simply freezes. Different programs can be used for effective testing, but only one should be installed at a time.

Note: Windows 10 uses a built-in antivirus that has enough functionality for all occasions. But if you nevertheless decide to replace it, do not worry about the conflict: Microsoft has foreseen everything and when you install a new defender, the built-in is disabled automatically.

Programs to improve PC performance on Windows 10

Above, we looked at some applications that allow you to get performance gains in Windows 10. There are whole packages of tools for tweaking the system and speeding up its work. Consider two such programs.

Glary utilites

This is one of the most famous and favorite programs for speeding up the operating system. The utility's functionality includes: cleaning disks from garbage, finding duplicate files, finding and removing unwanted software, optimizing the disk subsystem, cleaning and defragmenting the registry, optimizing RAM, and many more useful functions.

A little below there is a screenshot, which shows that the program, not having time to start, has already analyzed the loading speed of our system and offered to disable the elements that slow it down.

There is also a one-touch cleaning mode: you click on a button, and as a result, the program scans your PC with different tools and at different levels. The cleaning result is worthy of the highest praise. The simplicity of the interface, ease of use and good performance make GloryUtilities the best choice for today.

Advanced SystemCare

Another powerful application, or rather, a set of programs for cleaning, optimizing and securing Windows 10. This software is able not only to improve PC performance, but also to answer the question - how to speed up the Internet in Windows 10. Here the emphasis is on maximum convenience and simplicity of work.

Download Advanced SystemCare

There is also functionality for advanced users. You can turn on the advanced mode, and you will have access to much more flexible and functional settings. The application interface is very user-friendly and looks great. The screenshots show the main functionality of Advanced SystemCare.

TweakNow PowerPack

Another great package of utilities for optimizing Windows 10 or earlier OS versions from Microsoft. Due to the presence of a number of fine settings that require certain knowledge, the program is more suitable for advanced users. Screenshots can be seen below.

Thanks to the above instructions, you already know how to speed up the work of a computer or laptop with Windows 10. There is no need to talk about the need for such a procedure, because even on modern PCs the load becomes so high that the machine starts to dull. Only the timely implementation of all the above recommendations will allow the "Ten" to live without glitches and brakes.

Optimizing Windows 10 Videos

Today the speech will go about optimizing Windows 10... And it will not be a "button accordion" from most sites, and there will not be one of the superficial manipulations with the operating system. No, today everything will be much more serious, because here we will take a closer look at how to speed up Windows 10 and squeeze the maximum performance out of the computer, but without prejudice to work, of course.

For most users, the word "optimization" is equivalent to the word "castration" of the system or "unnecessary manipulation" and so on. But initially, optimization is, first of all, cutting off the excess and fine tuning, tuning. In the right hands, good optimization significantly raises PC performance without the need to overclock the processor.

Ever since the days of Windows XP, there have been attempts to improve system performance and responsiveness. Enthusiasts have disabled services and processes to improve performance. Since then, nothing has changed. Microsoft can be understood - it is trying with all its might to raise the bar of functionality to the maximum, but all this has a downside of the coin - you have to pay for all this at the cost of the amount of RAM, constant access to the hard disk, and even greater workload of the central processor. But not everyone needs full functionality ...

Let's end the prelude and get down to business. The task is simple - to approach the optimization of Windows 10 in as much detail as possible.

In order to structure everything and not confuse anything, further actions will be divided into steps:

Step 1. Turn off disk indexing

We will go from simple to complex and start, perhaps, with disk indexing.

It is needed for faster searching on the hard drive. But is search so often needed? The indexing service always hangs in the system, regardless of whether you need to search for files or not, and if you disable it, nothing will happen. It's just that from now on, the search for a photo, document, or any other file will take a little longer. Just a little bit. And owners of solid-state drives need to turn it off in any case, since each unnecessary access reduces.

And so, to disable Indexing, you need to open "This computer" and right-click on the local drive on which Windows 10 is installed. In principle, you can then do this operation with other drives. In the context menu, select "Properties", and in the window that opens at the bottom, uncheck "Allow to index the contents of files ..." and click "OK". After that, pop-up windows will begin to appear, in which you must either agree and continue, or, if this is not possible, click "Skip all".

Step 2. Disable User Account Control (UAC)

User Account Control, or UAC (User Account Control), is intended to solve the problem of user security, a kind of smart access restriction. In fact, it looks like an endless stream of notifications about how confident the user is in opening the file and whether he is at all. Most users only need antivirus software for their safety. To disable UAC, you need to right-click on the "Start" menu to open the menu and find "Control Panel". Next is the "System and Security" section. In it, at the top, in the Security and Service Center section, there is a subsection “Changing User Account Control Settings”.

Step 11. Disable unnecessary Windows services

This step is already for more advanced users, since incorrect actions can lead to many problems. A list of all services can be found by pressing the key combination "Win + R" and typing into the field services.msc... If there is no need for Xbox services, then you can turn off everything related to them, as well as everything related to Hyper-V (i.e. virtualization). Windows Defender and Windows Firewall can also be safely disabled - there is an antivirus for all of this. The rest is strictly at the discretion and only at your own peril and risk.
