Monitor selection. Best Full HD monitors

The CES exhibition is still underway in Las Vegas, delighting everyone interested with new products. Over the past few days, many new gadgets have been demonstrated, from miniature chips to powerful gaming systems. This selection includes the best new monitors at CES 2017. It includes quite different types of devices, among which you can choose a model for every taste. The list includes monstrous gaming models, displays with the thickness of a smartphone, and widescreen curved monitors, and other interesting devices.

Dell S2718D - very thin and almost bezel-less

Dell Ultrathin Monitor S2718D is the world's thinnest monitor, according to the manufacturer. But since the representatives of Dell did not announce the exact thickness value, and they did not put a caliper for measurements on the exhibition stand, we will miss this epithet until it is confirmed. Dell S2718D is a 27-inch screen with very narrow (about 5 mm) bezels around the matrix and about the same thickness. In its main part there is nothing but the LCD panel itself: all other electronics are placed in a stand.

It is based on an IPS matrix with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. The picture refresh rate is 60 Hz, and the pixel response time is 6 ms. Also, the matrix has a maximum viewing angles and brightness of 400 nits. It is capable of capturing 99% of the sRGB colors. These parameters indicate that the Dell S2718D is a stylish display for home / office use.

To connect to a PC, the screen has a standard HDMI, and to output sound from it to the speakers, a standard 3.5 mm jack is provided. However, the second main feature of the display is the universal USB Type C port. It is designed to display pictures from a modern laptop. In addition, there is a Power Delivery function with power up to 45W and 2 USB 3.0 ports. This means that if you connect the same Apple MacBook 12 ″ (which has only a USB Type C port) to the display, it will be recharged without losing the ability to connect devices via USB.

The Dell S2718D release date is scheduled for March 2017. In which countries it is planned to sell the new monitor is still unknown. However, there is evidence that the price of Dell S2718D will be about $ 700.

Dell UP3218K - Clearest Monitor at CES 2017

Another novelty that the Americans decided to please is the Dell UP3218K - a high-definition monitor equipped with a 32-inch matrix with a resolution of 8K 7680x4320 pixels. The pixel density on it reaches 280 PPI, which is comparable to a 5.5-inch smartphone with HD-resolution (for example, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016). The matrix is created using IPS technology, its manufacturer is Sharp. It is capable of reproducing 100% sRGB and Adobe RGB tones, has a 1300: 1 contrast ratio, 400 nits brightness and is framed with a frame less than a centimeter thick. The image refresh rate is standard 60 Hz.

The current versions of the HDMI standard do not support this high resolution, which is why the Dell UP3218K is equipped with a DisplayPort (DP) interface. It has two such connectors for connecting to picture sources. There are also 4 USB 3.0 ports and a headphone or speaker jack.

The Dell UP3218K release date is scheduled for March 23rd. On this day, it should appear in the company's online stores. The price of the Dell UP3218K is quite impressive. Against its background, even the previous "frameless" screen will seem cheap, because the new product will ask for as much as 5 thousand dollars!

Samsung CH711 - Curved Quantum Dot Monitors

The Koreans from Samsung, famous for their OLED technologies, decided to surprise by presenting Samsung CH711 gaming monitors, created using quantum dots. The latter, in short, are nanocrystals capable of emitting visible light when a current is passed. In monitors, they are used to create backlighting, providing more uniform light flooding to the matrix than traditional diode tubes. Samsung CH711 is created in 2 versions, with diagonals of 27 and 32 inches. The rest of the modifications are identical.

Both screens feature 1800R curved panels with a standard aspect ratio of 16: 9 and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Like IPS, "quantum" matrices have maximum viewing angles. New backlight technology improves color purity by expanding the supported hue range to 125% of the sRGB gamut. The response time of the matrix is only 4 ms, and the refresh rate of the picture is 60 Hz.

Other characteristics of the new monitors have not yet been published. But it is known that the release date of Samsung CH711 is scheduled for March. European prices for new items have also been announced. The 27-inch model is expected to cost 530 euros. For Samsung CH711 with a matrix of 32 ″ will ask for 620 European currency units.

HP Omen X 35 Curved Ultra-Wide Gaming Monitor

HP is bringing a new curved gaming monitor to Las Vegas in an ultra-wide format. The HP Omen X 35 is a 35-inch display with a 21: 9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3440x1440 pixels. The monitor matrix is VA, and more specifically - AMVA +. Its response time is 4 ms, the scanning frequency is 100 Hz, and the contrast ratio reaches an impressive value for LCD panels of 2500: 1. Its bending radius is 1800R.

The proprietary chip of the display, emphasizing the gaming focus, is the Nvidia G-Sync technology. It synchronizes the refresh rate of the picture with the FPS in the game, thereby protecting against flickering, tearing and other image defects caused by out of sync. It is also known that the screen is capable of transmitting 100% of the sRGB color gamut.

The HP Omen X 35 is equipped with HDMI, DispayPort, USB 3.0 input and three of the same outputs. There is also a 3.5 mm headset jack and a special hook for attaching headphones. The exact release date of the HP Omen X 35 is unknown, but the official price has been announced. The novelty will be sold at a price of 1300 US dollars.

Acer Predator Z301CT - gaze tracking gaming monitor

Acer also brought some interesting products to CES 2017. The first of them is the Acer Predator Z301CT gaming display, built on an ultra-widescreen matrix. It is notable for its support for Tobii eye tracking technology. This is the first monitor of its kind. A set of infrared sensors track eye movements, allowing a person to interact with a computer in games and programs. The Acer Predator Z301CT sensor has a 1800R radius bend. Its diagonal is 30 inches, the aspect ratio is 21: 9, and the resolution is 2560x1080 pixels.

Among other parameters, the Acer Predator Z301CT stands out with a contrast ratio of 3000: 1 and a color gamut of 100% of the sRGB spectrum. Also, the screen has ideal viewing angles (178 degrees), brightness of 300 nits, and the pixels respond to the signal in 4 ms. The picture on the display is refreshed at 200 Hz, there is support for Nvidia G-Sync.

To connect to a PC, there are HDMI and DisplayPort ports on board, and there are also 4 USB 3.0 ports for peripherals and accessories. The monitor has a built-in pair of 3W stereo speakers. For the convenience of gamers, an adjustable leg is provided with support for height (120 mm range) and screen tilt (-5 - +25 degrees). The release date of the Acer Predator Z301CT is scheduled for February 2017, the price of new items will be about 900 US dollars.

Acer Predator XB2 XB272 and XB252Q - ultra-fast gaming monitors

The second novelty from Acer at CES is the Acer Predator XB2 series of gaming displays. They are aimed at hardcore gamers and e-sportsmen who are especially demanding on performance. The series contains 2 models, with similar parameters and appearance, but different sizes. The younger version of Acer Predator XB2 (XB252Q) is equipped with a 24.5 ″ matrix, while the older one (XB272) has a 27-inch LCD panel. The resolution of both is FullHD 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The devices are built on TN matrices with a response time of only 1 ms. The second feature is the very high refresh rate of the image - 240 Hz. It is necessary in order to provide the smoothest possible picture, since it is about 200 Hz that is the lower limit of flicker that most people are no longer able to perceive. The Nvidia G-Sync function is also provided to ensure smoothness.

HDMI and DP ports are provided for displaying images on the monitor. Also on the back there are USB 3.0 ports for connecting peripherals. The monitor foot allows you to adjust their height (range 11.5 cm), tilt up to 45 degrees, and flip to portrait mode. The bezel-less design (the front of the monitors look similar to last year's office model Acer R1 R231) allows you to create configurations of multiple monitors close together. Also on board there are stereo speakers with a power of 2 watts.

The release date for the Acer Predator XB2 in Europe is set for February 2017. For the XB252Q you will have to pay from 600 euros, for the XB272 - 700 euros.

Computer games play an essential role in modern leisure activities. It is believed that they have a negative effect on the psyche, but this statement has received a scientifically substantiated refutation. To play comfortably, especially in competitive disciplines, gamers need gaming monitors. Let's figure out what it is.

There is no clear classification of gaming monitors. They can be distinguished by their appearance, or by some parameters. Regarding the appearance, everything is simple: backlighting, the prevalence of aggressive colors and abrupt transitions make gaming monitors unique for each manufacturer. Some are equipped with backlighting.

Now about the technical characteristics. A gaming monitor can be considered a model with the following set of parameters:

  • Availability of HDMI input as one of the most advanced and suitable formats for games;
  • Full HD resolution, that is, at least 1920 × 1080, or even better 2K. 4K monitors require top-end hardware.
  • Hertsovka. 120 for games optimum. 60 is not enough for even the most basic shooters. Some take 240 Hz and that's top. Even 120 seems slow and boring after them.

Additional ports such as slots for peripherals, headphones, etc. are purely individual and are not required attributes of a gaming monitor. We've selected the top of the best gaming monitors for you.

The best 24-25 '' gaming monitors

Let's start with the "little ones" in the world of gaming monitors. For most people, a diagonal of 60 centimeters will seem just gigantic, but for enjoying games this size can be called the "minimum acceptable". It will be quite comfortable to play with this, because the immersion in what is happening is relatively good, but even during normal work there will be no fatigue due to the eyes running from one corner to another.

5 AOC G2460FQ

Minimalism in everything
Country: China
Average price: 16 236 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.3

AOC did not spray, depriving the G2460FQ of any luxury, but giving it a very high-quality technical filling. The monitor comes in a no-nonsense unpainted cardboard box. The surprises start inside when you find a bundle that includes DVI-D, HDMI, VGA (D-Sub), and DisplayPort. As they say - we were reinsured for all occasions. For the price, this is one of the best 144Hz monitors on the market. And although in terms of color reproduction everything is not very good here, otherwise there are no serious complaints.

The main drawback lies in the fact that the white balance is too high and the eyes begin to noticeably tired with prolonged work. We do not recommend taking it for work, but for projects with short game sessions, that's it. Another tip from us: if you buy this model, it is better not to use the built-in speakers. According to reviews, they are rather weak, which is typical for AOC.

4 Philips 243V5QSBA

Low price - high quality
Country: China
Average price: 6972 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.4

We can recommend the following model for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is a low price. 7000 rubles for Full HD and VA-matrix is just a real gift for such a price. The monitor provides crisp detail with high brightness. Additionally, it is equipped with multi-zone vertical alignment technology, which provides an ultra-high static contrast ratio, thanks to which the screen displays the most vivid picture.

Optimization is also good. The viewing angles are 178 degrees vertically and horizontally. Contrast and brightness from Philips are standard, without unnecessary bells and whistles. From the reviews, we also learned that additional features include processing of frontal photography.

3 BenQ ZOWIE XL2411P

Best price
Country: China
Average price: 15515 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.4

Opens the rating monitor from BenQ. Their products are extremely cheap, but it is difficult to call them bad. Yes, the viewing angles of the TN matrix are mediocre, but finding a monitor with a refresh rate of 144 hertz in this price range is almost impossible, especially with a response time of 1 ms.

In addition to the viewing angles, you can find fault with the design and build quality. The appearance is somewhat strange due to the large frames and not very high-quality assembly, in some places you can see highlights and elements that are not clearly fitted. In general, this monitor can be recommended to those who are buying their first gaming device and are not yet sure whether it is worth spending a lot on a professional device.

Advantages:

  • Refresh rate - 144 Hz
  • Response time 1 ms
  • Lowest cost

Flaws:

  • Poor viewing angles
  • Mediocre build quality
  • Outdated design

2 ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q

Excellent swivel mechanism
Country: China
Average price: 41475 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.6

ASUS ROG line is known among gamers for its daring looks and high price. In general, there is something to overpay for here. All ports are hidden by decorative caps, a projector is built into the stand, which projects the emblem of the Republic of Gamers or any customized image onto the table. The mount itself is movable and the monitor can be rotated vertically, turning it into a kind of giant tablet.

Technically, everything is good. The TN-matrix has Full HD. In terms of brightness, there is a large margin of 400 cd / m² units. The legs are stable, do not protrude, which means that there will be no problems with tea or a keyboard lying on the table. With a refresh rate of 240 Hz, even microfreezes and small starters will not be felt at all, and a response time of 1 ms will allow you to quickly respond to the game situation.

1 AOC AGON AG251FZ

The best combination of price and performance
Country: China
Average price: 28,070 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

The best monitor in our opinion. AOC has never tried to raise the price, due to which their monitors are loved by buyers. It has a TN format matrix with full Full HD, which guarantees a viewing angle of 170 degrees vertically and 160 degrees horizontally. With a record 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, it is the perfect monitor for CS: GO players. Flicker Free technology eliminates unnecessary flicker, preventing eye fatigue.

There are built-in speakers here, but you don't need to rely on them, because the sound quality is mediocre. Only a high-quality sound card will help out here. The design is rated as average. There is nothing superfluous here, but the stand is white and contrasts well with the black case. As the main drawback, buyers highlight small highlights at the bottom of the screen. According to customer reviews, all menu settings are intuitively accessible, and the joystick is very convenient for manipulating options.

The best 27-28 '' gaming monitors

While 24 "models are considered ideal for working with documents, then 27" monitors are the de facto standard for virtual entertainment. This size is sufficient for a comfortable and immersive game. This will prevent the device from cluttering the desktop. In general, the golden mean.

5 Viewsonic VX2758-C-mh

Immersive monitor
Country: China
Average price: 21184 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.4

Viewsonic took the monitor seriously and created an immersive model. The first element is a screen with 88% coverage of all available colors. The 144Hz refresh rate delivers fluid animations with minimal input lag, and AMD FreeSync helps eliminate screen tearing and stuttering. The company has prepared a unique gift for customers in the form of a preset of settings for various applications and performance optimization. There are 2 HDMI ports and VGA for connection, but it is not recommended to use it - an outdated and poor quality channel.

Dual speakers are responsible for the sound, providing the full sound picture, but they are far from sound cards. The smart energy saving system will help to save electricity, which further extends the service life.

4 Acer K272HLEbd

High-quality VA-matrix in the budget segment
Country: China
Average price: 10930 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.5

It is rare to find a VA matrix with natural colors in the budget segment, but we did find it. Although the screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 is not suitable for shooters and other competitive disciplines, it will be able to convey all the beauty of the worlds of Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3 or Warframe. The output image is not only dynamic, but also replete with many shades.

Note that the monitor has an impressive margin of brightness, which is 300 cd / m2. At the same time, the contrast is set to 3000: 1, and the pixel response time is 4ms. Viewing angles are standard for their segment, 178 degrees. The lack of glare and the presence of a matte finish have a positive effect on the look and feel of buyers from interacting with the monitor. Additionally, you can connect multimedia via VGA (D-Sub) and DVI-D ports.

3 MSI Optix MPG27C

The most advanced lighting system. Curved screen
Country: China
Average price: 22 682 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.6

MSI is familiar to a huge number of gamers thanks to excellent components for computers, productive laptops. The company is new to the gaming monitor space, but it can already offer customers great devices. The Optix MPG27C model immediately attracts with its appearance - the design is somewhat similar to the ASUS ROG line, but there is more backlighting: a futuristic pattern is highlighted on the back wall and a panel in front under the screen. The latter has not only aesthetic, but also practical functions: thanks to the support of SteelSeries Game Sense, it can be displayed, for example, the health level of a character in the game, the number of cartridges or any other information.

The display itself is good, but not perfect. The 27 '' FullHD TFT * VA sensor is curved for excellent immersion, but would like a higher pixel density for documenting or browsing. Response speed of just 1ms, 144Hz refresh rate: a great combination for most gamers.

Advantages:

  • Beautiful and functional design
  • Quality curved matrix
  • Anti-reflective coating
  • FreeSync support
  • Factory calibrated colors, 100% sRGD coverage

Flaws:

  • Resolution with such a diagonal is low for non-gaming use

2 ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q

Highest refresh rate (165 Hz)
Country: China
Average price: 57150 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.7

Yes, Asus again. Yes, their monitor did not take the leading position again just because of the high cost. But how good is the ROG Swift PG279Q. The company has fixed all the shortcomings of its predecessor, and now we have a 27-inch IPS monitor with a Quad HD resolution (2560x1440 pixels). The viewing angles are excellent, the colors are juicy, the brightness is high - in general, all the advantages of IPS are evident. Also worth noting is the highest refresh rate in the class - 165 Hz. The only drawback is the relatively low response rate of 4ms.

Appearance - the most "gamer" in this category, although not pretentious. It's not even worth talking about the adjustments - the monitor moves in all the necessary directions.

Advantages:

  • IPS matrix
  • Highest refresh rate - 165 Hz

Flaws:

  • The price is high

1 DELL S2716DG

Best value for money and image quality
The country: USA (made in China)
Average price: 43 610 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.8

Dell is the clear leader in the monitor market, and the S2716DG is the company's great device for gamers. But at first glance, you cannot say so, because the monitor's appearance is extremely restrained and stylish. At the same time, the functionality does not suffer - it stands steadily, it is regulated in all necessary directions. The only nitpick is the glossy back cover, which collects prints and dust very quickly.

But in technical terms, everything is just fine. TN + film matrix with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels shows a juicy and very bright picture. At the same time, glare is absent thanks to the proprietary anti-reflective coating. The refresh rate is not a record, but 144 Hz is more than enough for most gamers. The matrix response time is only 1 ms. Add to all this the relatively low cost and you have an almost perfect 27-inch gaming monitor.

Advantages:

  • Excellent image quality
  • Strict design
  • Fast response and fast frame rates
  • Low cost

Best 21: 9 gaming monitors

The attitude to monitors with an aspect ratio of 21: 9 is ambiguous. One compare the work behind such a loopholes in tanks, others are delighted with the complete immersion in what is happening on the screen. In the context of the article on gaming monitors, we are more in favor of the second opinion. Of course, this ratio is not suitable for all games, but, for example, racing or RPG is incredibly enjoyable to play. Also, such monitors are perfect for movie lovers, because films take up the entire screen, without any stripes at the top and bottom. True, most YouTube videos are shot in 16: 9, so you have to think carefully before buying.

5 Samsung S34J550WQI

Good matrix overclocking
Country: South Korea
Average price: 25,787 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.5

Yes, the matrix can be overclocked and this monitor can easily cope with it. It can be overclocked from 75 to 97 Hz, but it is better to stop at 93, and in games set the frame log to 90. So you will increase the smoothness, but you will not decrease the service life either. In addition, there will be no frame tearing and FreeSync work. The stand is stable and does not take up much space. The controls are very comfortable, especially the joystick, which is a pleasure to work with.

Now about the cons of overclocking. At a maximum of 97 Hz, there will still be a ghosting effect. In shooters, the monitor will have to be driven, but you need to work not with the display frequency, but with the pixel response time. The case looks a bit cheap and the VESA mount pushes through it. According to reviews, the power supply cord does not fit snugly in the socket. When you go to sleep, the acceleration of the matrix can be reset, and every time you get tired of doing the same thing.

4 LG 34WK500

Choice of buyers
Country: South Korea
Average price: 22 951 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.5

Ideal for developing applications, MMORPGs and strategies, in general, for anything that requires a large screen. Size and width allow you to open two non-overlapping windows at the same time, be it a browser, a technical document, or your favorite game. The stretched screen resulted in some pixels being visible, but only if looked for with a magnifying glass. In everyday life, this is imperceptible.

LG saved on the stand, which is not encouraging. When shaken, the monitor starts to wobble. Better to buy a VESA mount and not suffer. But you need to be prepared that you will have to pay a lot of money for a normal tripod. 34WK500 is a model for players who do not want to buy 2 monitors, they do not care about appearance and there is an opportunity to purchase a wall mount. It will be nice to watch movies on it, and modern games are replete with cut-scenes.

3 LG 29UM69G

Juicy image
Country: South Korea
Average price: 16383 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.6

The only representative from LG is showing very good results. First of all, attention is attracted by a rather strict, but at the same time undoubtedly playful design - sharp edges, red shades. Although, some users complain about the flimsy legs.

From the point of view of picture quality, there are no complaints - a 29-inch IPS matrix with a resolution of 2560 × 1080 pixels produces a very juicy image. But for gamers, the characteristics will be a little disappointing. The refresh rate is 75 Hz, which is not enough for dynamic games. Fortunately, at least AMD FreeSync is there. Enough in the monitor and innovation. You can connect to a PC using the now common USB Type-C.

Advantages:

  • Relatively compact size;
  • IPS matrix;
  • Connection via USB Type-C;
  • 2 speakers 5W each;
  • Lowest price in class.

2 AOC AGON AG352QCX

Fastest monitor in class
Country: China
Average price: 43,990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

AOC has been a longtime player in the gaming monitor market, as seen on the 21: 9 AGON AG352QCX. Traditionally, let's start with the design: on the front the device is rather restrained, only the red edging and the logo of the line stand out; at the back - a striking aluminum insert in the form of wings and 4 LED inserts (only 3 colors: red, blue, green). The stand is also aluminum, with a convenient carrying handle and the ability to adjust in height, tilt and swivel (in small ranges). Reviews of the stand are contradictory: some talk about excessive tightness, others complain about the shakiness. Apparently, it all depends on the adjustment.

The display is of excellent quality. The curved TFT MVA matrix with a huge diagonal of 35 inches has a resolution of 2560x1080. For games, watching movies and even everyday work, this is enough, and the video card does not overwork - a card of the level of GeForce RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 is suitable for comfortable gaming. By the way, the RX 570 will also do just fine.

The response is standard for this class - 4 ms. But the refresh rate is simply amazing - 200 Hz! With this frequency, you can play eSports disciplines like CS: GO as comfortably as possible.

Advantages:

  • Highest refresh rate in class
  • Huge variety of connectivity options: DVI-D, HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA
  • Stereo speakers (2x5W)

1 ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q

Better image quality
Country: China
Average price: 89 999 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.8

The first place was taken by another modification from Asus. A large diagonal with a decent resolution is combined with acceptable color reproduction thanks to the IPS matrix. The refresh rate is 100 Hz. This is an intermediate option for players who do not play professionally, but who want to immerse themselves in the gameplay with their heads. The monitor stands on a strong leg and does not wobble. Considered one of the best replacements for dual monitors, even with thin bezels.

Now about the cons. The main one is the price. Not everyone will want to give away the amount for which a powerful gaming computer can be assembled. The advertised 10-bit matrix is in fact 8-bit, but with emulation technology by switching adjacent colors. This model is more suitable for connoisseurs; there are cheaper options on the market with better hertzki.

Best 4K UltraHD gaming monitors

Literally 10 years ago, the vast majority of monitors had an aspect ratio of 4: 3 and a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. Today, the generally accepted minimum is FullHD resolution, which comes on its heels with 4K. There is more and more suitable content, and modern gaming computers for an affordable price can already display a smooth picture in such a high quality. That means it's time to keep your eye on your new 4K UltraHD gaming monitor!

5 Acer Predator XB321HKbmiphz

Solid stand
Country: China
Average price: 69 990 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.5

A controversial enough, but an interesting model. The design can rightfully be considered a gaming design due to a solid foot, made in a black and red color scheme. However, a monitor with thin bezels does not allow for many decorative elements. It is adjustable from -5 to +25 degrees. The height is also adjustable - up to 120 mm.

The display itself has a diagonal of 32 inches. For 4K this is optimal, but models with 27 inches look better. The refresh rate is only 60Hz and you have to pay extra for Nvidia G-Sync. There are well-calibrated stock settings from the factory, everything can be adjusted easily and easily on your own. As a result: if G-Sync is not a necessity, then there is no point in taking it. But for fans of Acer and just lovers of cool gadgets, it is perfect.

4 Viewsonic VX3211-4K-mhd

Comfortable factory settings
Country: China
Average price: 28 260 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

Most buyers liked the factory settings of the Viewsonic VX3211, they criticize it a little, but they praise it a lot. You get excellent color reproduction out of the box, you just need to slightly tweak the brightness. The value for money is almost perfect. The set includes an HDMI 2.0 cable that handles HDR \ 8bit + FRC \ 60Hz \ 2160p signal transmission. The factory overdid it with brightness, it is enough to work comfortably in strong room illumination. On the other hand, there is a PiP function, FreeSync support and an adjustable response time in the range from 3 to 10 ms.

Uneven illumination, which, however, is invisible during normal use, became a stone in the model's garden. The disadvantage is noticeable only in the dark. Instead of honest 10 bits per pixel, only 8, but with FRC technology. The control menu is somewhat inconvenient, but you can get used to it over time.

3 Philips 288P6LJEB

Balance of characteristics, many ports
Country: China
Average price: 28 976 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.8

A monitor without any highlights, but that's the beauty of it. This is a versatile gaming model with a 28-inch diagonal and 4K resolution. However, here is a TN matrix and the manufacturer is actively testing the method of promoting 4K to the masses at an affordable price. The color rendition and contrast are average, the eyes do not get tired, everything is in order with the gamut.

A large set of ports for connection is available to the buyer:

  • HDMI-MHL;
  • DVI-D DL;
  • DisplayPort;
  • D-SUB (VGA).

The built-in USB hub version 3.0 has additional power, which means it won't take much time to charge your player or smartphone via USB. The fast response time of the matrix will have a positive effect on the gameplay. Among the shortcomings, a TN matrix with weak viewing angles is noted, and for a full 4K you will need to connect via DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 2.0. The mount is very mobile and can be adjusted remarkably well. This way, you get a model suitable for both undemanding gamers and modelers.

2 ASUS MG28UQ

Better ergonomics
Country: China
Average price: 30,800 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

A gaming monitor with great ergonomics and a selection of the most useful gaming features. Adaptive-Sync technology is similar to G-Sync from NVidia, only from AMD. The latter do not seek to profit from this, so monitors with this technology are somewhat cheaper. Refresh rates are limited to 60Hz, and Adaptive-Sync plays a big role here, smoothing microfreezes and starters. Despite the presence of a 4K image, it does not give a significant advantage over competitors.

The design is strict, with a minimum of visual "tuning". The stand is adjustable and comfortable. The backlight does not flicker and does not stand out from the general gamut. Separately, you can adjust the blue component, lowering its intensity, so that the eyes are less tired. The control panel has a convenient 5-way joystick. A two-port USB hub (3.0) with fast charging mode is provided for connecting external devices.

1 Samsung U32J590UQI

Best 4K monitor
Country: South Korea
Average price: 25112 rubles.
Rating (2019): 5.0

We believe that better than Samsung U32J590UQI has not yet been invented. The fast VA matrix and 32-inch screen are a weighty argument here. A semi-matte finish and a narrow matte frame add beauty. With scaling, everything is in order here, except for games, the monitor can be safely placed in the office for copywriters or modelers. The external power supply is plugged into a power outlet. However, there are no built-in speakers and hubs. There is nothing superfluous and this is good, since there will be no extra noise, heating and other "joys". The stand is quite stable, but according to the instructions, it is better not to assemble the monitor, but to install the already assembled product on it by shaking it.

The power indicator is rather dim, which is bad during the day and good at night. The backlight flickers up to 30%. With prolonged use, lightening begins to appear, an uneven glow effect is created.

How to choose a monitor for gaming?

So, when choosing a monitor, be guided by the parameters described by us in the introduction. Remember that a large diagonal is not a recipe for success. We consider 2K monitors of 24 inches with a refresh rate of 144 Hz to be the optimum. It is desirable to have an adjustable stand with the ability to put the screen on a VESA mount. If you play regular games without an internet connection, then 60 Hz is enough.

Now about the response time. The TN-matrix has the fastest response, but the quality is mediocre. IPS, in turn, is the opposite. The ideal option would be a VA matrix. Its colors are softer, more realistic, and the response is optimal.

To simplify the principles of choosing a monitor for a PC in accordance with its main purpose, modern devices can be grouped into three categories:

  • On fast matrices TN + Film - for esports;
  • With GB LED backlighting and extended color gamut - for working with graphics;
  • General purpose displays - with IPS or VA panels.

In this article, we will try to tell you about the best computer monitors with a diagonal of 19, 24, 27, 32 and more inches.

Choosing the best type of matrix for the monitor

Sadly, no LCD monitor yet can display all the variety of visual information equally well. There are three main types of liquid crystal displays:

The number of colors displayed by the monitor varies depending on the bit matrix... The simplest (6 bits) are capable of displaying 262 thousand shades. Most modern models are equipped with 8 or 10-bit panels (respectively, 16 million and a billion colors). Naturally, the higher the bit depth, the more expensive the final device.

There are models in which a large color depth is achieved due to cunning technical solutions. In particular, frame rate control(Frame Rate Control). In such cases, they talk about pseudo-bit depth (for example, 8 bits + FRC). From the point of view of the total number of shades in such monitors, everything is "fair", but sensitive eyes can react to additional blinking of pixels.

Eye fatigue can also be caused by the pulse-width method of brightness control ( PWM). Please note that the term Flicker-Free from different manufacturers can mean anything. Let's say PWM is only used for low brightness levels or high frequency modulation is used. Unfortunately, figuring out this point is extremely difficult.

Diagonal matters

The first mass-produced LCD monitors had simply "ridiculous", by today's standards, diagonal... Buying even a 21-inch monitor these days involves force majeure circumstances. Of course, everyone has their own comfortable size, just like the screen resolution. As for the best combinations, they are approximately as follows (for an aspect ratio of 16: 9):

  • Full HD (1920 × 1080) - 24 inches;
  • 2K WQHD (2560 x 1440) - 27 inches;
  • 4K UHD (3840x2160) - 32 inches and above.

Ultra Wide Monitors(21: 9) are never small at all, and their acceptable pixel size starts at 29 inches. Well, we do not consider the diverse "exoticism" in our rating. Our rating of the best monitors is based on customer and expert reviews and on an analysis of the technical characteristics of models popular in 2018 - early 2019.

Whether you use your computer for graphics editing, gaming, streaming media, business applications, or just for day to day use, you won't find a shortage of monitor capabilities for every need. A good monitor is an essential part of any gaming computer. Although it does not directly affect the frame rate or smoothness of the picture, it depends on this module how beautiful the image will be, the viewing angle in the game itself and, of course, the effect on the eyes. Therefore, people who spend a lot of time at the computer try to choose and buy the TOP models of monitors. Below you will find an overview of the TOP 4 monitors released by well-known manufacturers in 2017 and considered the best, both for everyday use and for computer games.

Monitor ASUS MX34VQ

Here is a novelty from Asus - a curved screen with a unique design. Although the company is considered one of the leaders in the market for gaming devices in general and monitors in particular, this does not interfere with the release of new items. Time will tell how well this model has turned out, although preliminary conclusions can be drawn now:

  1. Design is the main distinguishing feature of this module. Firstly, the radius of curvature is 1800R, which is the largest in the history of ASUS. Thanks to this, the monitor takes up relatively little space, and the perception of information from the screen is improved several times. Secondly, the manufacturer decided to remove the side strips - the overlays that frame the display are only 6.5 mm wide. In general, the device looks stylish and modern, supporting the fashion for rigor and minimalism in decorative elements. Dimensions are 811x457x240 mm with a weight of 8.4 kg.
  2. Periphery, unfortunately, is represented by the minimum possible functionality. Of the external connectors, there are only HDMI 2.0 (3 pcs.) And Display Port 1.2a. There is also a 3.5mm audio output. True, it is rather a tribute to tradition, because the monitor is equipped with its own speaker system with 2 Harman Kardon speakers. Naturally, there is also a dedicated port for power supply. It should be noted that the power supply is external and is included in the delivery assembly. There are no more connectors. There is not even a USB output. The desktop stand has special properties - in fact, it contains a 5W QI wireless charger for mobile gadgets.
  3. Ergonomics not suitable for everyone, due to the impossibility of not only mounting on the wall, but generally changing the stand. The angles of vertical tilt are adjusted only by the movement of the monitor itself on the hinge. The mount of the stand is as rigid as possible, and makes it inconvenient when connecting cables to ports, and accessing the menu activation buttons and a mini-joystick for navigation - all these modules are located at the back under the leg. On the other hand, the monitor received a semi-matte finish, which is practically glare-free. The screen itself is extremely sensitive to touch, collecting fingerprints and all sorts of traces well, so it is recommended to touch it only with a special cloth for monitors.
  4. Specifications- another point that is not satisfactory. This model is equipped with an SVA matrix with a diagonal of 34 inches and a working resolution of 3440x1440 pixels. The aspect ratio is 21: 9 with viewing angles of 178 degrees, both horizontal and vertical. Those. the angles are practically maximum and there are no highlights at all. It is worth noting the ideal color reproduction - 98% in the sRGB spectrum and 71% in the AdobeRGB scale. There is a white LED backlight that works so well that it completely eliminates graininess. Contrast is quite high despite only 110 PPI. Although with such a diagonal, this drawback is not noticeable. The maximum monitor frequency is 100 Hz. This parameter can be reduced to 48 Hz or even raised slightly above the stated maximum using AMD FreeSync Support, which, however, requires an AMD video card. Also, the monitor has built-in functions GameVisual (improves the display of effects) and GamePlus (shows the crosshair, FPS and timer on the screen).
In fact, this monitor is versatile. It is well suited for games, and for watching TV shows or movies. It has enough pros and cons, so whether to buy this model or not depends only on the user's personal preferences.

The price of ASUS MX34VQ in Russia is 75,000 rubles.

Monitor ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q

This is another screen for gamers, but with the highest vertical scan speed. We can safely say that this is the first monitor with such a frequency. There is no doubt that everything in it is perfect - except for the cost. However, most users never stopped this:
  1. Design noticeably different from other ASUS products. The display is smooth without the fashionable bends now. Although, given the not very large diagonal, the curvature would not look very good. The case is plastic, with wide overlays on the front side, giving the monitor a stylish look. The back cover is corrugated with a pattern. The holding column is very massive and stands out noticeably against the background of the monitor itself, and the support legs, in the amount of 3 pieces, have different lengths. There are also copper-colored overlays that favorably dilute the uniformity. In general, the monitor looks extremely attractive, and even unusual at some angles, which will definitely appeal to most gamers. Dimensions are 564x384-504x254 mm with a weight of 5.6 kg with a stand.
  2. Periphery is diverse enough to provide ports for most modern third party devices. Available HDMI 1.4, Display Port 1.2, Service Port 1 of each type. There are also 2 outputs for USB 3.0 and an additional miniJack 3.5 mm, although there are no built-in speakers. An external power supply, like most monitors, is included in the electrical cable. At the back, closer to the right side, there are control, menu and navigation buttons, access to which is not difficult.
  3. Ergonomics at the highest level thanks to special mounts and well-thought-out functionality of the stand. First, it should be noted the possibility of changing the vertical and horizontal angles of inclination, turns along the horizontal axis, moving in height and even a complete overturn. Secondly, the coating is completely matte, excluding the appearance of glare in the sun or from external light. The monitor also supports displaying 3D images. An important factor is the non-marking coating of both the screen itself and the case. There is one more nuance - the stand can be removed, giving access to the VESA mount 100x100 mm. Thanks to this, you can not only put another holding bar, but also hang the monitor on any surface with the appropriate mount.
  4. Specifications- the pride of this model, it is not in vain that it occupies the flagship position. It's worth starting with a diagonal of 24.5 inches at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, that is, FullHD. A new matrix TN + Film was used, supporting a frequency of 240 Hz. Actually, this parameter is unique. Previously, monitors with such vertical scanning frequency were not produced. This fact will be especially important for fans of fast shooters, where victory often depends on the frame rate. There are also gamer interfaces - GameVisual and GamePlus. Fans of video cards from NVidia will appreciate the G-Sync functionality, which allows you to adjust the sweep frequency from 60 to 240 Hz. A special backlight mode Ultra Low Motion Blur also works, which reduces deviations towards the blue tint at high brightness. By itself, the color reproduction is almost perfect - it covers 93% of the sRGB spectrum. Viewing angles are equal to 170 degrees, that is, users are not threatened with dimming. And the PPI is 90 points, but despite this, it will not be possible to see the graininess even at close range due to the good contrast ratio (1000: 1) and the correct positioning of the aspect ratio for this diagonal - 16: 9.
This novelty fully justifies both its cost and positioning from the manufacturer. Indeed, in its category of diagonals, this monitor undoubtedly occupies a leading position, both in terms of speed and image quality.

The price of ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q in Russia is 55,000 rubles. See the video review below:

Monitor Samsung C24FG70FQI

And this can already be considered Samsung's answer to the market leaders - on the one hand, there is a diagonal acceptable for games, and a high-quality technical filling, and even a newfangled curvature of the case. On the other hand, it is more than an acceptable cost. Without a doubt, this model is a great alternative to the previous monitor. Judge for yourself:
  1. Design the screen itself has no peculiarities, except for a slight bend with a radius of 1800R, thin screen bezels and a matte surface of the plastic case, on which there are practically no traces. The main unique detail is the stand. It consists of 3 main elements - a round support and 2 pipes. All of them are connected by hinges, which gives many options for transformation. And the structure is attached to the monitor itself by means of a VESA connection 75x75 mm and is completely removable. The mount itself is covered with an overhead plastic disc, which provides both external beauty and reliability of the grip. Although there is also a drawback - a large depth of the workplace is required to install such a support. Together with it, the dimensions are 545x390-530x386 with a mass of 5.2 kg.
  2. Periphery not quite versatile due to the lack of a USB port. Instead, for some unknown reason, 2 HDMI 1.4a outputs and 1 DisplayPort 1.2a connector are installed. There is also a 3.5 mm audio output and a connector for a power cable combined with an external power supply unit. There is no built-in speaker system. All ports are located at the back underneath the bracket mount, and access to them is unrestricted.
  3. Ergonomics on the highest level. Engineers have clearly tried to create this monitor. Several positions of the screen should be noted - changes in height, angles of inclination vertically and horizontally, rotation to portrait mode are possible. Thanks to the included universal adapter, the monitor can be mounted on any type of mount after detaching the factory base. The surface of the matrix is semi-matt with an additional anti-reflective coating, and the maximum viewing angles are 178 degrees. The fact that glare or flare does not threaten the user is a fact that is beyond doubt.
  4. Specifications argue without problems with the products of the TOP companies in the gaming monitor market. SVA matrix with a diagonal of 23.5 inches, a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels (FullHD quality) and an aspect ratio of 16: 9 provides ideal color reproduction: 99.5% coverage of sRGB and 81% of AdobeRGB spectra. The uniformity of illumination and contrast is guaranteed by the Quantum Dot illumination. By the way, the contrast ratio itself is 3000: 1, and the maximum brightness is 350 nits. These are decent indicators, thanks to which the user gets the perfect picture. For modern games (in particular, fast shooters), the monitor is also well suited - the maximum vertical frequency of 144 Hz and the ability to adaptive synchronization Free-Sync are responsible for this. Pixels cannot be seen even up close due to the PPI of 94 dpi.
In summary, this is the perfect monitor for any user. It meets all the requirements of modern gamers and provides excellent picture quality when watching videos. And, of course, a surprising fact is its cost - several times less than that of models with similar performance from other manufacturers.

The price of Samsung C24FG70FQI in Russia is 23,000 rubles. And this is the cheapest model from the presented TOP-4 of the best gaming monitors of 2017. For more information on the monitor, see below:

Monitor Samsung C34F791WQI

This model is positioned as a "big brother" and a logical development of the previous one. Once again, Samsung is trying (quite successfully) to push the established leaders off the top of the gaming monitor market. Taking in basically a more affordable price and offering similar options. Consider how competitive the C34F791WQI is:
  1. Design slightly different from other Samsung gaming monitors. The main thing is the increased curvature of the display - the curvature is 1500R. Considering the diagonal, such a rounding is fully justified: it takes up less space and significantly improves the perception of what is happening on the screen. The second nuance was the stand. It has only two modules - a support circle and one tube. The dimensions of the holder are small and you cannot see it at all behind the monitor. The body is made of plastic. The side panels are practically invisible. Only the bottom trim is highlighted. In general, there are no frills or peculiarities - the device looks strict and stylish. And the white color with a side silver stripe makes it expensive and chic. Overall dimensions with stand: 809x416-516x309 mm and weight 7.6 kg.
  2. Periphery represented by all possible connectors. In the presence of 2 HDMI 2.0 outputs, 1 DisplayPort 1.2a and 2 more USB 3.0. There is also a 3.5 mm mini-jack and a ServicePort. All ports are located at the back behind a plastic panel, directed downward, except for USB - these outputs are slightly higher than the main set and are installed perpendicular to the case. This model is equipped with a built-in speaker system with 2 speakers, the grilles of which are located on the bottom of the monitor.
  3. Ergonomics worked out at the maximum level. It is worth noting the convenience of the screen itself. Despite being diagonal, it takes up little space and the comfortable stand requires no extra depth. It also provides various possibilities for transforming the monitor. So, the angles of inclination in the vertical plane and the height of the screen are regulated. The width of the viewing angles (vertical and horizontal) is 178 degrees. The bracket itself is removable. It is installed in a VESA mount, which comes with 2 adapters for alternative installation methods - 100x100 mm and 200x200 mm, respectively.
  4. Specifications. The first thing to mention is the matrix. The already familiar SVA with a diagonal of 34 inches, a resolution of 3440x1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 21: 9 is used here. This matrix has a semi-matte coating, which does not provide full protection from glare, but protects from image crystallization. In fact, this is one of the few monitors with such a screen and a vertical scanning frequency of up to 100 Hz. At the same time, adaptive synchronization functions are available for different families of video accelerators - Adaptive-Sync and AMD FreeSync. There are slight backlight problems. Quantum Dot does not always fully cope with the task, leaving dark spots around the edges of the screen. Contrast has a static ratio of 3000: 1, which, together with a PPI of 110 dpi, gives an ideal picture with no grain at all. Color reproduction is also excellent: 99.8% sRGB and 80.2% for the AdobeRGB palette. The matrix displays 16.7 million shades, and the appearance of all of them on the screen is far from uncommon, which is confirmed by the previous parameter.
This monitor will take pride of place on the table of any gamer without any problems, providing the most convenient game, from the smooth change of the picture to the perfect display of the color palette of what is happening on the screen. And most importantly, its cost is an order of magnitude lower than the TOP models.
