Programming is very important in today's world. When you buy a movie ticket or a bottle of soda at the supermarket, fly on an airplane or talk on the phone, listen to music or take a photo, you may have to use programs without even noticing it. And the first participation in the Olympiad in computer science may be for someone the first step towards the future profession of a programmer.
Are you just starting your Olympiad path, or are you already familiar with its format? We will be happy to help everyone in preparation. The "Circle of Champions" of the Association of Olympiad Winners is always open for beginners, and experienced participants can become part of the Moscow computer science team.
What is the school stage?
For students in grades 5-6, only the first stage of the All-Russian Olympiad is held. All tasks are theoretical and are performed on paper (without a computer).
Schoolchildren in grades 7-8 who want to participate in the computer science Olympiad do not need to be able to program either. The guys solve a mixed version containing both theoretical tasks and programming tasks. To get a full score, it is enough to correctly complete only theoretical tasks.
But the competition for schoolchildren in grades 9-11 is a programming Olympiad. The guys write several programs in one of the programming languages. Testing of tasks at the Olympiad is carried out automatically by a special testing system, without the participation of the jury. The testing system is strict and unbiased, and points can only be obtained for a solution that strictly meets the requirements of the problem condition.

Every year, online courses for schoolchildren are launched for the municipal stage. For all 24 subjects of the Olympiad, materials for preparation, organizational information and expert advice are published. Participants can ask questions of the jury and submit appeals. You can register for courses using the invitation, which is issued at the school along with the participant's sheet.
Liked - study
It is not difficult to get into the field of view of a coach, it is enough to perform well at the stages of the All-Russian Olympiad, the Moscow Olympiad for schoolchildren, the open programming competition or the team competition. The coaches who have shown themselves are invited to specialized training sessions.
You can just come to class (it is better to write in advance by e-mail). Successful face-to-face and distance performances allow you to receive invitations to higher-level classes and become a candidate for the Moscow team at the All-Russian Olympiad.
Classes for candidates
They are held for different groups and levels of schoolchildren - both from not very strong (in preparation for stage 2), and the level of preparation for the final stage and international Olympiads. In October, the guys take part in the selection for the All-Russian Team Programming Olympiad, which itself takes place in late November - early December.
The team camps are held in November. In addition, as part of their training, the guys participate in international competitions (Zhautykov Olympiad in Kazakhstan, the International Tournament in Bulgaria and the Romanian master of informatics).
After determining the exact composition of the team in the period from February to March, every year the training sessions are held directly for its members.
The site, maintained by the Moscow Center for Continuing Mathematical Education, contains a large number of programming tasks at various levels. Ideal for those who are taking their first steps in programming: in many sections there are links to theoretical material on the relevant topic, a detailed analysis is attached to most of the problems. Automated solution validation is available for all tasks.

Codeforces.com. A portal that brings together a huge number of participants in programming competitions around the world. The site regularly hosts online competitions for schoolchildren of all levels: from beginners to multiple world champions. Many well-known companies, including VKontakte, Mail.Ru, Tinkoff Bank and AIM Tech, hold official competitions on the platform.
In addition, the portal discusses everything related to programming, from just published articles on data structures to emotions about the recently held competition. The site also contains a large archive of tasks available for automated verification.
Wiki synopsis. An encyclopedia on discrete mathematics and the theory of algorithms, compiled by ITMO students. It describes most of the algorithms used in programming olympiads. Many articles contain examples of tasks and pseudocodes of the given algorithms. The abstracts are written in great detail and with high quality. This is one of the few resources in Russian on this topic.
Maximal. A mini-encyclopedia containing the most popular algorithms in Olympiad informatics, most of which are provided with implementations and examples of use. The site has a slightly more informal style of presentation (which can sometimes affect the quality of articles or the correctness of algorithms), but it makes the information easier to read. The site contains links to useful books for a more detailed study of the algorithms given, as well as some specific problems of particular interest.
Olympiads in Informatics. The site dedicated to the Olympiads for schoolchildren in programming in St. Petersburg, the official site of the All-Russian team Olympiad for schoolchildren (VKOSHP), the individual Olympiad for schoolchildren in computer science and programming (IOIP). One of the main advantages of this site is a very rich archive of events held in Russia, including the All-Russian Olympiad: the site contains presentations with an analysis of tasks and the results of competitions. Olympiads.ru. The site dedicated to the programming olympiads for schoolchildren in Moscow, the official site of the Open Olympiad for schoolchildren in programming, the tasks on which are not inferior in complexity to the All-Russian tasks, and sometimes more elegant and interesting. In addition, the Olympiad includes a correspondence round, the tasks of which often require the study of new algorithms during the competition. The competition is held in four stages: school, municipal, regional and final.
In the first stage, all interested students of grades 5-11 participate. Schoolchildren of grades 7-11 go to the municipal stage. The tasks at this stage become more difficult.
Regional and final stages are held for grades 9-11. Tasks are given the same for all participants. In two rounds, the guys need to complete eight tasks on a computer.

Who can win the Olympiad?

What does the set of tasks for the Olympiad look like?
On the day the assignments are issued, all teachers who have paid for participation can download a set of materials for the Olympiad, which includes:
- Methodical recommendations for the Olympiad.
- Motivation letter to the participant from the director of the MDG "Mega-Talent".
- A set of 15 tasks of various types.
- Calendar of upcoming events.
How are the results of the Olympiad evaluated?
After you enter the answers in a special table on the site, they will be submitted for verification. For each correct answer, the student receives 2 points. If there are two possible answers to a test question and the student has correctly indicated only one answer, he will receive 1 point.
How are rewards distributed?
- The participant of the Olympiad who received 30 points is awarded the highest award - a winner's diploma.
- Participants who received 26-29 points are awarded 2nd and 3rd places and diplomas of prize-winners are issued.
- All other participants receive personalized certificates.
