Installing and configuring IP-TV Player. Watching IPTV on Android TV (in the standard Live Channels application) IPTV set-top box Atlant Telecom

Test broadcast Wellcome IPTV- this is access to broadcasts of more than 100 Russian and foreign TV channels, including in HD format.
This is an opportunity, without installing expensive capricious equipment or bulky antennas, to have modern multimedia content on your TV.

At the same time, it is enough to have only access to the Wellcom network and a small, inexpensive, convenient set-top box to the TV.

Also, with the help of a special program, TV channels are available for your computer.

Watching TV on a computer

You can view Wellcome IPTV on a computer connected to the Wellcom network, for this you need to install a freely distributed program:
IP TV Player (official website of the program)
Ready-made installation package - with a built-in playlist for the Wellcom network, you can get it here:

Attention!
IN IP TV Player - it is necessary to specify a working network card. This will be a card with the address 192.168.*.*, 172.*.*.* or 10.*.*.*. On first start IP TV Player will automatically select the first network card. You can change the network card like this: Settings (Advanced) -> General -> Network interface.

You can also use another program:
VLC media player (official website of the program)

If you installed the player from the official site - download (list of channels).

What settings are needed?
Firewall/Firewall settings may be required for the system to accept multicast traffic.
In general, you need to allow the IGMP protocol in the system rules and allow the player any TCP activity (for downloading channel lists and TV programs) and UDP activity (directly for IPTV).

What problems may arise:
IPTV - does not work or does not work well over Wi-Fi. Due to the peculiarities of multicast operation, many routers cannot cope with the transmission of TV over Wi-Fi. The remoteness of your device from the router (router) can also affect.
If you have a router (router) and IPTV does not show - this may be due to the settings of the router (router). To check the performance of IPTV - you need to connect the Internet wire from the entrance directly to your computer, use one of the programs described above, following all the recommendations.

Attention! Watching IPTV - can reduce the performance of your router (router)!

Good afternoon

into the system Android TV initially built-in program for viewing TV channels and other media resources, which combines various sources of video content. Able to show a TV guide (EPG), channel logos, group by category, manage access, taking into account age restrictions, and so on.
I am developing an application TVirl. The main idea of which is to add support for IPTV channels from the provider to Live Channels.
Since I myself am a user of IPTV from Atlant Telecom, the main functionality is focused on easy setup and high-quality operation of channels from Atlant Telecom.

How it looks in action:

The application is still under active development, but at the moment it already knows everything you need to show IPTV from Atlant Telecom:
  • M3U playlists
  • JTV TV program
  • loading logos in the archive from the playlist
  • Multicast/UDP (as well as DASH, HLS, etc.)
  • MPEG-TS (and also mp4)
  • h264/h265/MPEG-2/AC-3/MP2/MP3/… etc. (some codecs are only supported if the device is hardware supported)
The application is available as part of alpha testing. To install it, you need to join the testing using the link:

How to setup

  1. Required Android TV set-top box or TV. For example NVIDIA Shield, Nexus Player, new TVs from Sony, Philips and some others.
Important: there are TV boxes on android, but not Android TV. It will not work on them (due to the lack of the Live Channels / Live broadcast application).
  2. You must have an IPTV service connected. The program allows you to watch only those channels that are already available to you.
  3. Use wired Internet connection. Multicast/UDP work very unstable through WiFi
  4. Make sure your router is configured to work with Multicast: . If your router is not in the instructions, look for the settings “ Enable Multicast Stream”, “Wireless Enhance Mode”, “IGMP proxy”, “IGMP Snooping”, “Multicast Routing". Support UDP-to-HTTP proxy will be added in future versions.
  5. Install the app by joining the alpha test from the link above
  6. The launcher should show (if previously hidden) the application Live Channels. Run it.
  7. Don't look for TVirl in the launcher, it's not there. All interaction goes through the Live Channels system application.
  8. If you have not set up channels before (for TVirl or other programs), then Live Channels will automatically prompt you to set them up
  9. If channels from other programs have already been configured earlier, then you will see a notification that new channels are available - click
  10. If, for some reason, Live Channels does not offer to set up new channels, then you need to open “Channel Setup” manually from the menu:
  11. Next, select TVirl from the list of channel sources:
  12. Then, following the path Catalog / Belarus / Atlant Telecom, select the IPTV package available to you:
  13. On the remaining screens, we agree with the default options offered.

Many have heard about interactive television, but not everyone understands what it is. How it works, what opportunities it provides, how it differs from other types of broadcasting - all these and many other questions often worry the minds of Belarusians when they hear about IPTV. The site will help you understand all the intricacies of interactive television.

IPTV: brief educational program

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television - television over the Internet protocol) is a technology for transmitting digital television over the Internet.

This technology allows you to broadcast television signals via an Internet channel without using an antenna or satellite dish.

You can use interactive TV on any TV using a special set-top box or the Smart TV function on some TV models, as well as on a computer, tablet or smartphone via an IPTV player.

IPTV, as a rule, includes the following components:

  • The subsystem for managing the complex and services, which is also called "Middleware" or IPTV Middleware
  • Subsystem for receiving and processing content
  • Content protection subsystem
  • Video server subsystem
  • Subsystem for monitoring the quality of streams and client equipment.

Broadcasting is carried out through the operator's IP network using multicast or unicast technology, or without being tied to the operator's network (in this case it is called OTT).

IPTV guarantees high image quality through the use of a digital data transmission format, as well as the possibility of using unique interactive features. The digital format is less prone to interference and picture distortion. It opens access to high definition (HD), which makes the image on the screen as detailed as possible.

The main advantages that IPTV provides:

  • the ability to form a high-quality picture, including in 4K, 5K, 8K formats;
  • the ability to control viewing using interactive features;
  • the ability to watch TV simultaneously on different devices. On a TV - using a set-top box, on some TV models - using the Smart TV function, on a computer, tablet or phone using an IPTV player.

Digital TV in Belarus

IPTV in Belarus appeared for the first time at the state operator Beltelecom. Later, the largest private Internet operator Atlant Telecom began to provide such a service.

Now digital television is available not only from Internet operators. A similar service is provided by mobile operators – MTS (MTS TV) and velcom (voka).

Initially, digital television was promoted as a separate service. Now providers have begun to include it in packages with the Internet, which was the beginning of the promotion of integrated tariffs in Belarus.

"According to a survey conducted by the Internet operator Atlant Telecom among its subscribers, every second participant is an IPTV user. This suggests that digital television is replacing conventional broadcasting technologies in Belarus," says Atlant Telecom's IPTV technical specialist. Andrey Burdey.

Belarus is one of the world leaders in the development of digital television. According to research by Point Topic, Belarus ranks 15th in the world in terms of digital television distribution. The report notes that last year the share of viewers of interactive television increased by 12%. Experts believe that by 2020 the share of IPTV in Belarus will be higher than all other types of television.

Similar statistics were recently published by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus. Summing up the work for January-July 2016, the department noted that the number of IPTV subscribers increased by 84.2 thousand and as of July 1, 2016 amounted to 1.395 million. used by more than 119.6 thousand subscribers. At the same time, the number of ZALA Internet TV (OTT) subscribers increased by 8.8 thousand subscribers and as of 07/01/2016 amounted to 19.2 thousand subscribers.

"The global picture of IPTV development looks positive largely due to the CIS countries. The fact is that European countries and the United States are strongly tied to cable operators. We have long been tied to analog television, and now we have made a sharp leap in new broadcasting technologies", - the technical specialist comments on the statistics.

Analogue terrestrial television in Belarus was turned off in May 2015 in order to fulfill its international agreements on the transition to digital broadcasting. Belarus assumed these obligations in accordance with the documents adopted in Geneva in 2006.

The main trend that can be observed in the TV market is a steady increase in interest in IPTV interactive features, which we will discuss below.

Another trend that will soon spread to Belarus is the spread of Ultra HDTV technology. In the future, Belarus will have channels that broadcast in 4K Ultra HD. The technology provides image clarity that is many times higher than standard and high definition television. TV manufacturers and TV service providers are preparing for this transition, and Internet operators are no exception.

It is worth saying that Belarusian national channels are still lagging behind, and are just about to switch to High-Definition (HD), while Western content providers are already preparing to switch to Ultra HD.

A typical IPTV viewer - who is he?

According to a survey conducted by Atlant Telecom, viewers spend more than 2 hours a day watching IPTV. The greatest activity is observed from 20:00 to 22:00 hours.

At the same time, it can be stated that IPTV in Belarus is family television. More than 55% of respondents have a family of 3-4 people. By age, IPTV viewers are distributed as follows: from 26 to 35 years old - 45.2%, from 36 to 45 years old - 23.1%, over 45 years old - 14.2%.

A typical IPTV user is a 26-35 year old man whose family consists of 3-4 people, each member of the family watches TV. As a rule, he has 1 or 2 TVs at home.

Most survey participants use IPTV on a personal computer - the share of such respondents reaches 61%. About 37.2% of respondents watch interactive television with the help of a set-top box. Smart TV is preferred by 24.3% of people, and the share of mobile IPTV viewers is about 12%.

How is the channel list formed?

The process of forming a list of channels is quite laborious. As a rule, they are formed according to the popularity rating. The more popular the channel, the more expensive the right to broadcast it. Therefore, IPTV a priori cannot be a free service.

Sometimes certain channels stop broadcasting, and most often this happens through no fault of the operator. There may be several reasons: the end of the license, the lack of demand or the company's unwillingness to continue operating in this territory. Then such a channel leaves the list of available ones, and an analogue comes to replace it.

“Periodically, subscribers ask to include this or that content in the broadcasting schedule. Perhaps the most interesting are sports channels, especially during large-scale sporting events. We ourselves are interested in making the audience interested. But you need to understand that negotiations with content providers are a long and laborious process,” Andrey Burdey explains.

Interactive features: what and how?

As we noted above, interactive television has a number of advantages for subscribers. Together with a technical specialist from Atlant Telecom, we will try to sort them out.

Pause and rewind. With this function, you can pause the program, as well as rewind programs that are recorded.

Delayed viewing. Allows you to watch programs that have been on the air in the last 48-72 hours. On some channels, the time frame may be increased or decreased.

The system administrator draws our attention to the fact that these functions (the so-called time shift) are not supported by all channels.

“Often, users call and ask why one or another feature is not available on one of the popular channels. Unfortunately, we cannot influence the situation, since this process is regulated by copyright,” Andrey Burdey explained.

Near the name of channels where there are interactive functions, as a rule, there is an icon in the form of a clock.

virtual storage. This is another feature that IPTV provides. It allows you to record any program and watch it at a convenient time for 2 weeks.

You can watch the recording an unlimited number of times. After that, it can be deleted from the server, or it will be automatically deleted after 2 weeks.

Results

Summing up, we can say that interactive television opens up a number of advantages for the viewer and makes watching your favorite programs enjoyable and convenient. High video quality, easy access to content, the ability to access the Internet, as well as interactive features distinguish IPTV from competitors and contribute to its development and popularization.
