Delete all music or individual songs in iTunes. How can I delete music from iTunes (iTunes)

Every owner of Apple gadgets should be able to work with iTunes. Otherwise, a person will not be able to transfer files from a PC, download and delete music, save contacts and restore devices. All this can be done by the mentioned application. Today we will focus on the question of how to delete a song from iTunes. Doing this is actually easier than it looks. In addition, we will consider the procedure for synchronizing iTunes with Apple devices and study what this leads to. In particular, after deleting tracks from the program we are interested in.

Working with music

It is worth paying attention to the fact that not every version of iTunes can work with music. To do this, the user must have an assembly no older than 12.2.0 installed. The "Music" item appears in it for the first time. It is with him that we have to work further.

How to delete a song from iTunes? You need to realize what formats of ringtones this application works with. After all, some documents simply cannot be uploaded. This means that deleting and transferring to Apple devices will not work either.

Fortunately, all unrecognized formats are converted to AAC. iTunes recognizes MP3s (including VBR), AIFF, WAV, Audible, and ALAC. AAC is also perfectly combined with the mentioned application. But all other music formats will be automatically converted. Basically, this trick saves people the trouble of uploading music to the app.

Addendum

How to delete a song from iTunes? To do this, you need to create a media library. And all further actions should be carried out in this component. Usually, when an issue under study arises, users do not have a ready-made media library. Therefore, next we will consider the process of its creation.

First, let's create a media library. This is done like this:

  1. Install the latest version of iTunes. You will need to work with an assembly no older than 12.2.
  2. Sign in to the program using your AppleID.
  3. Open the menu "File" - "Add to library ...".
  4. Select the documents to be added. They must be downloaded to the computer without fail.
  5. Click on the Open button.

Quick removal

Let's start with the fastest and most common method. How to delete a song from iTunes? This can be done in several ways. But most often, a single removal of documents from the media library is implied.

To carry out such an operation, the user will need to:

  1. Get started with iTunes. To do this, the application must be launched on a computer and authorized under your username and password.
  2. Select "Music" from the functional menu located at the top of the window.
  3. Use the cursor to highlight one or another song that you want to get rid of.
  4. Right-click on the corresponding line.
  5. Click on the "Delete" button.
  6. Confirm the operation.

After a few seconds, the user will receive an updated media library.

Multiple files

You can use the previously proposed method using one interesting trick. It will allow you to delete several songs at once.

The thing is that to delete several melodies from the library, you will need to press Ctrl. Next, you have to select the desired documents with the cursor. Once all the melodies have been selected, you can use the previously proposed guide to implement the task. Fast, simple, convenient. But that's not all!

All media library

How to delete songs via iTunes? You can get rid of all the audio files in the application at once.

From a computer

Nevertheless, such a technique does not rid the computer of unnecessary music. And this is worth taking into account. How to delete a song from iTunes? We already know the answer to this question. But what if, along with cleaning iTunes, it becomes necessary to delete a document from a PC?

To do this, you will have to do the following manipulations before clearing the media library:

  1. Select "Music" in iTunes.
  2. Press RMB on the desired song.
  3. Click on "Details".
  4. Look at the very bottom of the page. There will be a "Where" item. Go to the specified address on the PC.
  5. Delete a song from the iTunes library.
  6. Select the document in the folder open on the PC and press Del on the keyboard.
  7. Click on "OK/Yes".

Ready! Now it's clear how to delete a song from iTunes on a computer and not only. Even a novice user can do this.

About synchronization

What happens if you synchronize iTunes with an "apple" device after adjusting the library? The music on the device will be updated. In this case, all deleted files in iTunes will be deleted in the smartphone / tablet. This is normal.

Synchronization is usually done like this:

  1. Connect your Apple device to your computer via a USB cable.
  2. Launch iTunes and log in.
  3. Open the "General" - "Settings" section.
  4. Check the box next to "Process music and video manually."
  5. Open "Music" - "Synchronization".
  6. Specify how to connect devices. It's best to click on "All media library".

After confirming the request, the media library will be uploaded to the connected gadget. From now on, it is clear how to delete a song from iTunes in one case or another. And in general, how exactly to work with this application and tracks.

Often, the interaction between the user and the iTunes program comes down to the banal need to download tracks and videos from a computer to an i-device, which is sad, because the functionality of this utility goes far beyond the content exchange between an apple and a PC.

In this article, we will analyze one of the interesting options of the Apple service - the organization of playlists - we will tell you how to create a playlist in iTunes, edit it, transfer it to a mobile device, and how to delete it.

Don't have iTunes yet? Read how to download this program.

We download a lot of necessary and not very information to the computer, forgetting that the built-in hard drive is not rubber. And when the released limit ends, you have to arrange a general cleaning. However, there are two approaches to cleaning.

The first is simple and costly: buy an external hard drive and dump the accumulated information on it, for example, on the Time Capsule (Time Capsule) - a hard drive for backing up information from Apple, which, among other things, can work as a Wi-Fi access point . On a spacious external hard drive, you can easily store a huge collection of music, and an iCloud library, and everything that your heart desires. However, you can transfer information to your hard drive and selectively, for example, only photos from your iCloud media library. After successful copying, the information from the PC can be deleted and the "littering" can be started again.

The second way is cleaning in the classical sense, this way does not require material costs, but a temporary resource is needed here. All information needs to be sorted out, organized and removed.

Creating playlists is one of the important elements of cleaning. A huge collection of music is broken down into convenient short lists of songs, and everything that bothers you is removed.

Playlists by default

If you are a confident iTunes user, then you have probably noticed the “Playlists” section in the main menu on the left more than once. These are the selections created by the program by default - "Top 25", "Classical Music", etc. The easiest way is to use these playlists.

How to transfer a track to one of them? You just need to click on the appropriate name and transfer the compositions to the program window, which will open on its right side - the transferred compositions will appear in the playlist almost instantly.

Then, when synchronizing with an i-device, if you do not want to transfer the entire iTunes library, but want to drop specific collections, you will need to select the item "Favorite playlists, artists, albums and genres" and specify the desired ones.

Personal playlists

However, the playlists created in the program by default are not always enough. But it doesn't matter - the answer to the question of how to add a new personal playlist is simple:

That's all - now you can open a new playlist and upload music to it in the same way as in the standard one - simply by dragging the melodies to the right side of the utility window. When synchronizing through iTunes, you, again, can only choose to transfer tracks from the created playlist.

Smart playlist

In addition to personal playlists, iTunes allows you to create smart collections - this option will appeal to lazy users who want to organize a media library, but there is no desire to deal with each composition manually. To create a smart playlist:

All! The playlist will be assembled automatically.

Genius: Playlist by iTunes

The Genius option is not so much the ability to organize music, but rather help the user who wants to collect something new from the old. The option works in three modes.

Important point! The computer must be connected to the network, if the Internet is disconnected, the option will stop working.

Editing and deleting playlists

Created playlists, of course, can be edited and deleted. To edit - add or remove this or that song, select the playlist with the right mouse button and click the "Edit ..." item of the drop-down menu. Now, to add a new composition, drag it to the right side of the program, and to delete it, click on the annoying track and click delete.

If you are tired of the entire collection, you can either completely clear the playlist's media library by deleting all the tracks in it, or you can right-click on the playlist and select the "Delete" option instead of "Edit ...".

Let's summarize

Now you know how to create a new playlist and how to clear iTunes of annoying tracks and playlists. Note that this is not the only interesting and not too well-known option of the program - the Apple service also answers questions - how to trim a song, create a ringtone sound from a trimmed composition, how to turn off the password counter, restore the device, and many others. So don't hesitate to spend a couple of hours studying it!

The iTunes utility makes it easy to work with video and sound files, allowing them to be found on the network, recorded, stored in a specified location, played back, organized and synchronized with mobile devices. With its help, it is easy to operate records on phones and smartphones and, if necessary, delete them.

You can delete music from iTunes through the program's library all at once, in separate blocks, single files. A reminder for beginners who do not have the proper experience with iTunes: to get to the Music section, you need to open iTunes, click "Media Library" in the upper left corner, then select "Music" from the list. Or select the Music section from the left side menu. All music recordings stored in the program will open, with which you will have to work further.

Deleting all tracks at the same time in one step

Open the Edit menu, find the "Select All" option. After highlighting all the files in the same Edit menu, click the inscription "Delete"

Or use the CTRL+A key combination to highlight everything and press the Delete key.

You can delete all tracks from any music tab: Albums, Songs, Genres.

Before deleting, you will have to confirm your intentions in the small window that appears. The program asks the same question: are you wrong and does it really need to perform such a ruthless action to destroy all records?

If the hand does not tremble, then you have to press the left button.

And if the hand still trembles and it becomes a pity to erase all the records at once, you need to press the right button and apply the following method.

Deleting selective albums in one go

Enable sorting by albums, hold down the Ctrl key and carefully select all the albums that have become unnecessary. Right-click anywhere in the highlight, call the context menu and select the inscription "Delete"

Reminder: when you destroy iTunes library items, they will disappear from any device that is synchronized with it: iPod, iPad, iPhone.

Selective deletion of individual entries

When storing tracks in the program as albums, select the "Albums" tab. In the desired album, holding the Ctrl button on the keyboard, sequentially mark all the tracks that you decided to destroy, and through the context menu called by the right mouse button, turn to the usual cruel and ruthless command.

How many songs are highlighted, so many will disappear. Similarly, deletion is done through the "Songs" tab. The only exception is that the called menu will look a little different.

Without additional confirmation, it will not be possible to commit an act of destruction. Again, you will have to "talk" to the program's dialog box and confirm the intention.

The window is the same as the one that appears when erasing all tracks, only now instead of objects it talks about songs.

The second difference is the window. It says "Don't ask again". If you check the box next to it, the program will no longer communicate with you through such a window, but will immediately delete the songs. This is relevant if the files are deleted without the help of the Ctrl key, not in several pieces, but one at a time. The check mark will speed up the process, you will not need to confirm your intention after each click.

The Delete key on the keyboard or the Shift+Delete combination performs an action similar to the left button of a dialog box. You can click not on the button, but on these keys to confirm the deletion. This is true for those who prefer to control actions from the keyboard and not be distracted by the mouse.

memo

Everything deleted disappears only from iTunes, all records are saved on the computer. To make them disappear from the computer, you need to find their location and forcibly delete them from your hard drive. If the user has forgotten where the songs are, before deleting iTunes on any file, we call the context menu, select "Details", a window appears, at the bottom of which the path to the file is indicated. The storage location can be found along this path.

When you sync music files, the contents of your iPhone and iPad are replaced by your iTunes library.

After deleting records from iTunes and subsequent synchronization, they disappear from the memory of mobile devices.

iTunes makes it easy for users to use Apple and gives them the ability to store, group, listen, search the store, sync various media with mobile devices. However, the banal delete music through itunes can cause a whole problem, because in this situation a knowledge base is required, which sometimes even an experienced Apple user lacks.

The process of removing specific music fromiTunes

If there is a desire to clean the program on the computer from several annoying songs, you should:

  1. Open it.
  2. Select from the top panel on the left "Music".

This method is easy to implement, being in any tab - Songs, Albums, Genres, etc.

When a download icon is displayed next to a track, it means that it is stored in the cloud without using the storage on the device.

If the tracks are stored only in the iCloud account, this method will not work.

Important! After clearing the files from the device, they will still remain in iTunes. When connected to a computer and synchronized, the songs will again be on the smartphone.

It happens that a user does not want to leave a specific purchase from the Store in Apple Music, but at the same time does not want to delete it either. The way out is to just hide it.

Regardless of the version of the program, the process of deleting music is always about the same. The main thing is synchronization between iTunes and iPhone / iPod / iPad.

The iTunes program on computers with Windows OS does not always work correctly - almost all iPhone owners know this. Regular errors in the program from Apple force users to resort to alternative software (iMazing, iTools), the functionality of which is sufficient to replace iTunes. If the user has “found” suitable software for transferring data from computer to iPhone and wants to say goodbye to inconvenient iTunes, he should know that it will not be possible to completely remove the Apple program from the computer in the usual way.

Why Uninstall iTunes: Common Reasons

Uninstalling iTunes occurs for the following reasons:

    The program is no longer needed. Alternative data transfer software is much easier to use, because it allows you to export files from your computer without synchronization. In addition, such programs are not inferior to iTunes in terms of functionality.

    An earlier version of iTunes is required. Difficulties with mastering the new version is the main argument for returning to the previous one.

If the iTunes installed on your PC crashes regularly, don't make a hasty decision to uninstall the program. Generally, updating iTunes to the latest version resolves issues.

What you need to completely remove iTunes from your computer

A complete removal of iTunes assumes that all components that were installed at the same time as the program will also end up in the Recycle Bin. These components include:

    Apple Software Update - Responsible for updating Apple software.

    Apple Mobile Device Support - allows you to synchronize Apple gadgets with iTunes.

    Bonjour is a module for automatic search of software services, services, network devices.

    Apple Application Support - contains detailed instructions that the computer must follow in order to perform any function. In some versions of the OS, iTunes creates two similar components at once: for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

Uninstalling components separately from iTunes or randomly is not recommended. Also, do not restart your PC until the iTunes components are completely removed.

Step-by-step instructions for uninstalling a program on a Windows system

Step 1. Close processes related to iTunes. To do this, use the task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete). You need to manually terminate the following processes:

    AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe is the process responsible for ensuring that iTunes interacts correctly with Apple devices.

    AppleMobileDeviceService.exe is the process that allows iTunes to recognize Apple gadgets.

    ItunesHelper.exe is the process responsible for establishing an association between Apple gadgets and iTunes.

Before uninstalling iTunes, you need to close all processes associated with it.

Even if iTunes is not open, the listed processes are active in the background.

A complete list of iTunes processes in Windows is available on the official Apple portal: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201999.

Step 2 Delete iTunes itself and its components. You need to get to the "Control Panel": on the seventh Windows it is located in the "Start" menu, on Windows 8 it is appropriate to use the search engine ("Control Panel" query). In the "Control Panel" you should go to the "Programs and Features" section - the "Uninstall a program" subsection.

Uninstall iTunes through the "Control Panel"

Find iTunes in the list of programs, right-click and select "Uninstall", then wait for the uninstall process to complete (Windows will not allow you to erase two programs at the same time). Also erase the rest of the components in exactly the order in which they were presented above.

In the "Programs" section, you can arrange components by publisher

In order not to waste time searching through the entire list, it is recommended to sort the programs by publisher. All components of iTunes have a common publisher - Apple Inc.

Media purchased from the iTunes Store is located in the Music library on drive C in the “iTunes” folder. Send this folder to the Trash if you want to get rid of all traces of iTunes.

Finally, run through the C drive and delete the folders from the following list (if found):

    C:\Program Files\iTunes\;

    C:\Program Files\Common FilesApple\;

    C:\Program Files\iPod\;

    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\;

    C:\Windows\System32\QuickTime\;

    C:\Windows\System32\QuickTimeVR\;

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Apple\;

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\;

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Apple Inc\;

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\.

Step 3 Clear the registry of iTunes entries. This procedure is unfamiliar to many Windows users, so we will pay special attention to it.

Click "Start", in the "Search programs and files" field, type regedit (on Windows 8, use the search engine).

On Windows 8, you can get into the registry through the search engine

Run the regedit.exe program.

Open the "Search" menu through Ctrl + F, in the "Search" field, type iTunes.

iTunes records should be searched through the search engine (Ctrl + F)

If, at the end of the procedure, entries appear in the search results, right-click on each of them and select "Delete".

If a registry search returns such entries, delete them

To quickly clean the registry, you can use special software - uninstallers. The most famous uninstallers are CCleaner (freeware) and Uninstall Tool (paid).

When all three steps are completed, restart your computer - after that, you can be sure that iTunes has disappeared without a trace.

How to uninstall iTunes from Mac OS

On OS X computers, iTunes is pre-installed - it won't be as easy to uninstall as it is with Windows. If the user tries to drag the program file to the Trash, he will see such an unfriendly message:

It is not possible to delete iTunes by directly moving to the "Trash"

In fact, iTunes is not as necessary for a Mac computer as Apple developers make it out to be. If the user selects a similar program for playing media files, he will not need iTunes at all.

How to get rid of iTunes on Mac

  1. Go to your Applications folder and look for iTunes.
  2. Right-click on the icon and go to "Properties".
  3. Click on the lock icon and enter the administrator password.
  4. In the "Sharing and Permissions" section, check "Read and Write".

In the "Sharing ..." section, you need to set "Read and write"

Now you can get rid of the utility just like the owners of a Windows PC. Close the "Properties" menu, send the application to the "trash" and empty the "Trash".

After deleting in this way, all music compositions and libraries with multimedia files will remain in place.

There is another way to uninstall iTunes from a Mac, but it is suitable for more sophisticated PC users:

iTunes will be deleted past the Trash.

Using uninstallers to uninstall iTunes is pointless. For example, the Clean My Mac utility does not recognize this program at all.
