The TV does not see the tricolor module. Setting up CI (CAM) Tricolor modules on TVs of different brands

Until recently, to watch satellite TV from leading providers, it was required to have an additional "set-top box" to the TV - a digital receiver. The task of this device is to decode closed paid channels, access to which is open only to authorized customers according to the terms of their package plan. In other words, this receiver, or as it is often called a decoder, provided uninterrupted access to all information content.

Nowadays, the technological process is rapidly moving forward, thanks to which users of digital satellite television from leading providers (such as Tricolor TV, NTV Plus, Raduga TV, TeleKart) can enjoy watching their favorite TV programs without using a receiver. This is possible if you have at your disposal a modern TV with a built-in digital tuner, as well as a special CI connector for the CAM module.

What is a CAM module?

Modern TV models are equipped with built-in digital TV tuners that can independently decode closed television programs without using an external receiver. But in order for the built-in tuner to function, there is a mandatory requirement - the presence of a special signal conditioning module, that is, a CAM module.

By definition, a CAM module is an electronic device that is used as an adapter when decoding paid media content supplied to the encryption. It can support work with one coding system or several at once. In addition, such a device has a special slot designed for a smart card, an individual access key that each subscriber of digital satellite television providers receives.

In turn, the smart card has a unique number and allows the service provider to control the degree of access to encrypted TV channels for each specific user.

How exactly does the conditional access module work?

In practice, everything looks more simple and clear than in theory. Each new satellite television subscriber receives a smart card containing access keys. It looks like a simple plastic card with a small electronic chip. The card is placed in the CAM module slot, after which it is inserted into the CI slot on your TV.

As you know, any TV channels that go on your satellite TV are divided into two groups, namely:

Free (open). These are the simplest and most common channels that are always open to all users;

Paid (closing). These include the most interesting, high-quality and informative TV channels. They can be dedicated to sports events, show the life of wild animals, or they can broadcast good domestic and foreign films, for example, in HD quality. Naturally, it makes no sense for the provider to provide them for free, so they are encoded.

The built-in digital tuner reads access codes from your smart card and decodes all closed channels according to the terms of your package, so you can always enjoy high-quality and interesting TV programs.

An important advantage of the built-in digital tuner and CAM module is that there is no need to use additional equipment, namely a separate external receiver in the form of a set-top box. This is very convenient, because everything you need is already on your TV. While a separate receiver takes up space, collects dust, and a whole bunch of wires are used to connect it. In turn, a TV with a conditional access module is much easier to mount on vertical surfaces, for example, on a wall. Minimum wires and maximum space savings.

Which TV models are suitable for using the CAM module?

It should be noted that not all models of television devices can be used with a conditional access module. It is important that the TV has a built-in digital TV tuner and also supports the appropriate digital TV satellite standard (eg DVB-S or DVB-S2).

There may be a connector for a CAM module on the back of the TV, but the TV may not have a built-in DVB-S or DVB-S2 tuner, and in order to make sure that your TV can work with a CAM module for receiving satellite TV, there must be a special threaded connector for connecting a satellite dish. If there is a connector for the CAM module but no threaded connector as in the photo, then your TV does not have a tuner for receiving satellite channels and, accordingly, the CAM module will not work for you !!!

In general, almost all modern TV models of popular world brands (LG, Samsung, Philips and many others) are equipped with built-in digital tuners, as well as a special CI connector designed for the CAM module. If you do not know if your TV meets the requirements described above, then you can determine this by studying the technical characteristics of the device or by consulting the seller.

How is the CAM module configured?

With the help of the conditional access module, you can tune the channels of satellite digital television. To do this, you just need to first make sure that the device is installed correctly and your TV "sees" it, and also reads data from the smart card.

If you have already taken any action, then first we advise you to reset your Samsung TV.

Factory Reset Samsung TV

How to reset your Samsung TV to factory settings:

  • Go to the item "Support" -\u003e "Self-diagnosis" -\u003e "Reset"
  • Enter the PIN code ("0000" by default).
  • We agree with everything written on the screen.

Attention! The CAM access module is not inserted at this stage!

After the reset, we begin setting up the CI module on Samsung.

Let's move on to setting

1. We go into the menu and go to the settings for satellite channels. As we can see, there is already a satellite "EUTELSAT 36E" here. We need to uncheck this satellite. To do this, click on the "Select satellite" line, look for "EUTELSAT 36E" and click on it (the checkmark should disappear).

2. Now we need to create our satellite. To do this, we find “User Sat 1” at the end, mark it with a checkmark and click “save”.

3. Let's go to "LNB Settings".

4. We see that there are no transponders and this function is not available. Let's set the lower limit in the same way as the upper one, and now we can close the menu.

5. We go into the menu again, look for the item "Broadcast" -\u003e "Channel settings" -\u003e "Manual setup". In this tab we can see our satellite "User Sat 1". We press, we see "Transponder" and the item "Create" will become active.

6. Now enter the frequency (for example, 12418), then click "OK". Enter the baud rate 27500, click "OK" and "Save" again.

8. We go back to the "Transponder", but this time we turn on the network search, and then click "Search" again.

9. A search will be made on all available frequencies of Tricolor TV transponders. For example, we found 277 channels and 40 radio stations.

The CAM module is a very convenient device for watching T2 television, since there is no need to use an external tuner that needs to be connected by wires to the TV. In addition, the CAM module, unlike the tuner, does not take up space. But first, you need to be sure that the TV has a built-in digital tuner standard DVB-T2 and a connector for the CAM module.

This material is considered on a brand TV - Samsung, connecting and configuring the Cam - Tricolor TV module on TV models from other manufacturers is carried out in a similar way.

Using a receiver is not always convenient, since such a technique requires space and necessarily leads to the appearance of additional wires that spoil the appearance of the interior. Therefore, if the use of a standard receiver is excluded, and it is necessary to connect to satellite television, it will not be possible to avoid using the Tricolor cam module.

Buying such equipment is no more difficult than buying an ordinary set-top box, and the cost of this equipment will be even lower. As a result, the use of such modules will be profitable from all possible sides, since subscribers will get rid of not the most attractive receivers, having received a compact device in return, and will save a little on satellite TV costs.

To purchase a cam module, you need to find out what it is.

This device is a kind of portable receiver that connects to modern digital TVs. It consists of two main components - a small device for reading and processing information, whose most important purpose is to decode TV channels, and a Smart card that allows you to receive television services.

This technique does not have any additional components, and its size is slightly larger than the size of the card. Moreover, the equipment will be on the back of the TV, so it will not even be visible, therefore, the interior will not be spoiled by unnecessary equipment.

What should the TV look like?

Despite the ease of use of the device, not all subscribers will be able to connect it to their own digital TV. To ensure that the installation of equipment does not cause problems, you should take care of choosing the right Smart TV in advance.

To connect the ci Tricolor cam module, you must have a built-in DVB-S or DVB-S2 tuner. If your TV has a DVB-T or DVB-C tuner, you will not be able to watch satellite TV.

It does not matter which connection method will be used. Equally high-quality reception will be provided by the built-in external CL adapter slot. The difference lies only in the way the equipment from the provider is connected to the TV.

Connection

The connection of television does not differ in complexity. To receive a signal and watch your favorite programs, you will need:

  1. install Smart card;
  2. insert the cam module into a special slot;
  3. activate the card;
  4. set up the television following the menu prompts;
  5. wait for the TV channels to be decoded (takes up to 8 hours).

Separately, you must specify the order of connection to an external adapter. To install the hardware, you need:

  • install CL adapter;
  • make sure that the device is securely fastened;
  • insert the smart card module;
  • register on the official website or activate the card in another way;
  • wait for the data check and signal transmission from the satellite.

Separately, it is necessary to mention the features of software updates. The only way to keep the software up to date is to receive the right programs from the satellite. You will not be able to connect a flash card with drivers. To compensate for the existing complexity, the provider tries to avoid frequent updates, doing this only when necessary.

Possible difficulties

The biggest challenge subscribers will face in 2019 is setting up equipment and television. Unlike the settings of a conventional receiver, where users are offered an extensive menu, the Smart TV control panel is limited to a few items that leave little to no room for maneuver.

It will not add convenience and the absence of a TV program, which can only be found on the Internet.

There may be other difficulties that the provider's customers may encounter. In case of unforeseen difficulties, you should contact support specialists.

To contact the contact center, you need to call 88005000123 and wait for the operator's response. It will help you deal with any difficulties and explain all the most important nuances of the Tricolor cam module.

tricolor module ci

A huge plus of Smart TV is the ability to get rid of unnecessary equipment, leaving a minimum of devices that will be hidden by the monitor. Connecting the equipment does not contain any difficulties and is available to anyone. The main thing is to choose the right TV, since some models are equipped with special slots that are not compatible with the ci module.

Having dealt with the rules for choosing equipment, you just need to connect all the available devices and wait for the television to be activated and the broadcast to start. An important condition for work is the density of equipment fastening. Insufficiently high-quality contacts will become an insurmountable obstacle to receiving a signal from a satellite. In these cases, insert the Smart Card again.
