Xiaomi and Meizu phones. Xiaomi, Meizu or Huawei – who is cooler among Chinese brands? Why Meizu smartphones are better

What is better Meizu or Xiaomi in 2017? This kind of question haunts a huge number of users who have decided to order a smartphone from China. Today we will try to answer it. Why these brands? Statistics from various resources show that products Meizu companies and Xiaomi is in great demand among users in the post-Soviet space. Well, let's begin!

A little history of Meizu and Xiaomi

Both companies, as you probably know, are from China and are very young compared to many other brands. Meizu was founded in 2003, Xiaomi in 2010. Meizu initially (2003-2007) was engaged in the production of MP3 players, which were in excellent demand at that time. After the success of the first Chinese company I realized that portable players were beginning to be displaced. Since 2008, she began actively developing smartphones, noticeably copying the design of devices from the American brand. The similarities are still visible today.

Xiaomi began its journey by developing the MIUI shell, which today is an integral part of any company smartphone. The first version of the shell was released in 2010, and users really liked it. Already in 2011, Xiaomi released the first smartphone, and after some 6 years it became one of the world's largest companies.

Xiaomi vs Meizu: whose smartphones are better in 2017?

To answer the question, you will have to compare the companies' products according to a number of criteria.

Meizu or Xiaomi: who has a wider range of models

Both companies present new smartphones to the public with enviable regularity, but, whatever one may say, they manage to do this more often than Meizu. Xiaomi boasts not only a bunch of new products in recent months, but also a variety of product lines, including ultra-budget devices and flagships. Meizu has something completely new in Lately I couldn’t imagine slightly updating my old models and releasing them under new names.

For diversity, the first point goes to Xiaomi.

Whose smartphones are cuter?

Design is a subjective matter. However, we think many will agree that Meizu is still developing more stylish smartphones. Perhaps the matter is in the inheritance of appearance features in American company. Through use quality materials and well-built Meizu smartphones are not only elegant, but also practical. True, Xiaomi is increasingly coming up with beautiful solutions made from premium parts.

Well, for now we'll give the point to Meizu.

Who has better quality

A very controversial criterion, by using which we risk receiving a barrage of criticism from readers. However, if we again turn to statistics and user reviews, we will find out that Xiaomi has a slightly higher number of defects than Meizu. This is partly due to the company's large number of sales. Also, Xiaomi’s defect rate can be attributed to the company’s pursuit of quantity rather than quality.

Be that as it may, we give the point to Meizu.

Meizu or Xiaomi: Who has better smartphones?

- sore spot Meizu smartphones. All the company's recently released smartphones are equipped with MediaTek processors, which have gained the reputation of not being the most powerful representatives of the market. Xiaomi even in budget solutions installs Snapdragon processors, which are significantly better in performance than their competitors. It is precisely because of low-power chips that many users abandon the other advantages of Meizu, giving preference to Xiaomi

Unconditionally the point goes to Xiaomi.

Whose smartphones take better photographs?

If we consider the budget niche, the products of both companies have approximately the same cameras that take mediocre photos. In the flagship segment today everything is a little different. Xiaomi recently added Mi6 to its lineup, a newcomer to top processor Snapdragon 835 and with great camera. Meizu's flagship remains the Pro 6S, shown last year. It takes good pictures, but is clearly inferior to the more technologically advanced Mi6 modules. Perhaps the situation will change with the release of Pro 7, which should be shown very soon.

For now, Xiaomi is slightly ahead, so the point goes to it.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks is branded shell– each company has its own. Xiaomi installs MIUI on its smartphones based on the operating system Android systems, Meizu has Flyme. MIUI is distinguished by wide customization capabilities and an abundance of different settings, but not all smartphones at the start of sales are presented with Russian localization. Flyme is known to users for its pleasant interface and excellent translation of the interface into Russian, but receives updates less often.

Whose smartphones are more autonomous?

Xiaomi devices are definitely ahead here. The vast majority of the company's smartphones, released in 2016-2017, are equipped with a capacity of 4000 mAh or more, which ensures excellent battery life. At the same time, Meizu smartphones have an average capacity of 3000-3500 mAh.

The point goes to Xiaomi.

And a few more points: additional features and ecosystem

Each company tries to introduce some kind of feature into its devices in order to attract new users. And devices from Meizu and Xiaomi have their own characteristics. For the former, a “trick” can be called mTouch button. It represents sensory and mechanical button, combined with a fingerprint scanner – quite versatile and convenient. Xiaomi has an IR port in many smartphones. It allows you to control equipment in your home using your phone. Useful thing, isn't it?

Meizu and Xiaomi also produce other devices for users that, together with a smartphone, can form an entire ecosystem. Xiaomi is especially successful in this direction, releasing smart bracelets, headphones, TVs, smart set-top boxes, even umbrellas (and all with the “smart” prefix).

We won't be for Additional features give points, but if you are one of the users who have already surrounded themselves with a bunch of smart technology, then in your mind you can add the plus of Xiaomi with their ecosystem.

And who is better?

As you noticed, we did not consider memory amounts, interfaces and other unimportant features - there is not much difference here. What we end up with: 4 points for Xiaomi (model range, performance, cameras and autonomy) and 2 points for Meizu (design and quality). Based on the numbers, it is better to buy a Xiaomi smartphone in 2017.

Comparison of the best Meizu and Xiaomi smartphones

Of course, the numbers are a serious argument in the Meizu vs. Xiaomi dispute, but they only reflect the situation on the market as a whole. What if we bump heads best smartphones from these companies in 2016-2017? We took a couple of models from each price segment to compare them according to the main criteria.

Budget class: Xiaomi Redmi 4X vs Meizu M5

Two affordable smartphones that relatively recently appeared on the virtual shelves of online stores. – a practical metal device with a productive filling. – an elegant option with an abundance of color options. Both are good in their own way and deserve attention.

In terms of key parameters, Redmi 4X looks more interesting: it is more practical, productive and autonomous. M5 attracts only with its good appearance and “chips” in the form of Flyme.

Mid-range: Meizu MX6 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

In the middle class, Meizu manages to catch up with its competitor in terms of characteristics. The MX6, in addition to its more stylish design, is superior Redmi Note 4 in photo capabilities, and in performance it is not much inferior. But in terms of autonomy, the solution from Xiaomi is still head and shoulders above, and the IR port, which the MX6 did not have, will not be superfluous.

You have to choose from these smartphones based on your needs. You need a beautiful, thin device with good performance and a good camera, then you should look towards the Meizu MX6. If you are one of those who like to play and want to stay in touch for a long time, then your choice is Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

Since Meizu has not yet presented a competitor to the Mi6, we will compare the previous models: Pro 6 and Mi5. Two excellent smartphones with still current characteristics, which can impose competition on more expensive analogues from A-brands. Xiaomi Mi5 received powerful processor Snapdragon 820, Meizu has a powerful chip from MTK. The devices are full of various “tricks” and are capable of taking excellent photos.

The choice depends on the user's tastes - both smartphones are really good. However, Xiaomi Mi5 can be put one step higher due to the processor and lower cost.

Conclusion

Well, it's time to sum it up. We reviewed each manufacturer according to different criteria and came to the conclusion that it is more practical to buy in 2017 Xiaomi smartphones. This brand is represented by a much larger assortment, which does not limit your choice and offers powerful and autonomous solutions for little money. Meizu slowed down a bit, letting its main competitor take the lead. However, the company should not be discounted - a rather unusual Pro 7 will soon be presented, and maybe a couple more budget models, which will win back a few points. The battle “Meizu or Xiaomi” has not yet been decided. Which brand do you prefer?

“Meizu or Xiaomi” is another eternal topic of debate. This is the same as “Mercedes-Benz or BMW”, “Apple or Google”, “Pepsi or Coca-Cola” - there is no definite correct answer and there cannot be. I don't see the point in comparing appearance and smartphone shells are too personal; or the quality of screens, cameras and autonomy - in devices of one price category the parameters will be similar. But there are things in which Meizu is definitely better than Xiaomi, and Xiaomi is definitely better than Meizu.

Meizu advantages

mBack button. It is sensory-mechanical: touching takes you back one step, pressing main screen. List running programs called by swiping across the screen from bottom to top or from right to left.

The main advantage of mBack over three touch buttons(or two touch and one mechanical) in Xiaomi - additional free place under the display. IN landscape orientation You can hold the phone by the bottom edge and not be afraid of accidentally pressing the “Back” key or launching the task manager. This is convenient when watching videos and playing games.

Sound. Until 2007, Meizu specialized only in audio players; this was the only direction in the company. Over time, the Chinese applied their experience to smartphones. The main difference between Pro-series devices and other “audiophile” phones with a discrete DAC is the complete audio path.

A favorite example is the comparison and. The smartphones received the same ES9018K2M DAC, but the Pro 5 is equipped with an AD45275 amplifier with a Solo circuit and Rubycon film capacitors. It’s this holistic approach that makes the Pro line interesting for fans of high-quality sound.

The desire to create something new. Meizu from 2008–2012 is a typical Chinese company that spied on Apple and implemented their solutions. The result is constant courts. Over time, Meizu became more independent, stopped openly copying A-brands, and smartphones even acquired a recognizable design.

An indicative point is with an additional AMOLED screen on the rear panel. This is new to the market. The manufacturer had an idea and was not afraid to implement it. I am sure that the desire to experiment is a sign of a company’s maturity. I hope Meizu will continue to develop in this direction.

Advantages of Xiaomi

Adreno graphics. There has been no difference between budget MediaTek and Qualcomm chips for a long time. Even flagship solutions are manufactured by both companies using an identical technical process - 10 nm. But the graphics are still Qualcomm's. For example, the Adreno 540 GPU in Snapdragon 835 () is almost twice as productive as the PowerVR 7400XT MP4 in Helio X30 (). The differences are clearly noticeable in “heavy” games.

Meizu currently has only one smartphone based on Qualcomm SoC - . The device is powered by an 8-core Snapdragon 625 with Adreno 506 graphics. According to rumors, the manufacturer will soon begin producing phones in the budget and mid-price segments on Exynos 7000-series chips, but for now Meizu’s main platform is MediaTek.

Custom firmware. According to Android fans, the main advantage of their favorite operating system over iOS is more possibilities customization. Xiaomi fans can apply the same argument to Meizu smartphones. The point is that on Meizu phones It is almost impossible to unlock the bootloader, so there are few custom firmwares, and the installation process is complex. For Xiaomi, there is complete freedom - CyanogenMod, many assemblies on AOSP and even Flyme OS are available.

Global ecosystem in the future. The MiJia division, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, includes almost 100 startups that develop devices for smart home. The Chinese proudly call it an “ecosystem.” But the problem is that almost every gadget is connected via separate program. A single application, preferably built into the firmware - main element ecosystems of this type.

Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi and Meizu are confidently heading towards the position of world leaders. The growth of such popularity is due to affordability, attractive design of gadgets, as well as high-quality hardware, which today is not inferior even to the shell of famous brands. To understand what is better than Xiaomi or Meizu and what parameters you should pay attention to when buying a new phone, you need to sort out the strengths and weaknesses of competitors of Chinese products and weigh the balance of power between them.

Which Chinese is better and why - a little history of brands

Meizu vs Xiaomi are manufacturers of a large number of smartphones, each of the companies offers budget class phones and flagships at affordable prices. Meizu brand previously positioned itself as a manufacturer of MP3 players, but soon began producing smartphones similar to Apple; Meiza is still called the Chinese apple. Xiomi products are different from competitors, capturing the love of customers miui shell, on the shell of which they began to produce phones.

Xiaomi vs meizu: whose shell and hardware is better

A comparison of xiaomi and meizu phones shows that xiaomi uses Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets for almost all of its phones, even for budget versions. But about 90% of Meizu gadgets are manufactured by MediaTek, this applies to both budget and fashion smartphones. Also, Xiomi products are smartphones with capacious batteries, for example, some redmi models have 4100 mAh batteries, but the meizu blue charm has a capacity of only 3000 mAh.

Strengths of Meizu smartphones

Even for models with prices and characteristics of the budget class stylish design. Compared to its competitor, Meiza uses glass in almost all of its models. The plastic dividers on the rear panels, this is a big plus for the brand. Meizu smartphones are equipped with an excellent quality audio processor, with high frequency sampling and wide frequency potential, which increases the signal-to-noise ratio. Budget meizu is pleased with the quality of its cameras, due to the fact that the developers use the same matrices for both flagships and middle-class phones, while optimizing their functionality.

Advantages of Xiaomi phones

Xiaomi smartphone manufacturers provide their gadgets almost at cost, explaining that the company’s main income is the sale of electronics and services. Therefore, it is quite problematic to find an analogue that will have high-quality filling and cost the same as a budget Sony. Big advantage Xiaomi is using powerful chipsets even for budget versions. These are Qualcomm Snapdragon chips or Taiwanese MediaTek ones; Meiza uses the latter only for flagships.

Additional gadget features

To attract customers, each company brought its own trick. This feature of the Meizu can be called the mTouch touch and mechanical button, which is combined with a fingerprint scanner. Due to the fact that the Xiaomi company is producing household appliances, almost all smartphones are equipped with an infrared diode; thanks to the built-in Mi Remote program, you can control it using your phone household appliances. Xiaomi is leading in the formation of an entire ecosystem, releasing various products with the “smart” prefix.

Disadvantages of meizu smartphones

The disadvantages of meizu smartphones have increased due to legal disputes between the meizu brand and qualcomm. Therefore, the brand often uses MediaTek chipsets, which are not doing well with flagships. The company provides top-end hardware that is on par with qualcomm's budget-class chipsets. Another disadvantage of meizu smartphones is that the use of hardware from different manufacturers creates minor bugs, updates are not released on time, and some programs are completely unfinished. MediaTek sometimes lacks customer support, this concerns the transfer of new Android OS kernels and drivers to outdated chips. As for the pricing policy, flagships with similar parameters for Meizu will cost about $400, for Xiaomi – 300.

Disadvantages of xiaomi

Characteristic of a smartphone common problems with the Android update, this applies to hardware on MediaTek chips. There are minor bugs in the operation of the operating system. miui firmware tests are carried out by volunteers, whose bugs do not always disappear, because of this, even at the beta testing stage, defects fly away for everyone to use. Localization is another software problem. Due to the fact that their brand firmware does not have Russian version Google services But even with the presence of firmware, you should not be sure that it is made without side bugs. Xiaomi phones good quality have limited circulation due to the presence of only a few stores outside of China. The main sales are conducted through the official website. There is a tendency to resell gadgets with a significant markup.

To efficiently release new phones, Xiaomi uses the services of various assemblers and suppliers. This affects the quality of produced models. The same models in different batches may have parts from different assemblers. In this connection, software development and its optimization become more complicated. It is also inevitable that one device works uninterruptedly with an identical firmware version, while another constantly has bugs.

There were scratches on the case, white stripes on the display, but I did not wear this phone in a case and there was no film on it. It was an interesting device, but time had worn it out and I had to choose a new smartphone.

To be fair, I would like to note that I have a so-so attitude towards things. My Meizu was always in my pocket with apartment keys and coins. And I didn’t carefully place the phone on the table; it even fell over several times.

Meizu has one killer feature that its competitors don’t have, and that’s the Home button. Indeed, the smartphone can be controlled with a single button. And this is not only real, but also very convenient. By Meizu management many times better than Xiaomi with its gestures and on-screen buttons. And the cherry is in Home button Built-in fingerprint scanner.

Everything is great, isn't it? But there is one BUT: if this button fails, then that’s it. You have lost control of your smartphone. And this is a very common problem. How can a button fail? By exposure to moisture. Under no circumstances should this be allowed to happen. A small drop got into my smartphone and destroyed this button. The first time I was able to “resurrect” her, but the second time nothing helped her.

And the biggest problem is that this button cannot be easily replaced. For example, in the Meizu M2 Note, to replace it, you just need to remove the board and battery, but the Meizu M2 Mini has a completely different design. You will have to remove the screen, and only then change the button. This is such a difficult operation that it is easier to replace the entire screen + button module than to try to replace one button.

Xiaomi for 10,000 rubles.

I have no big money to buy a smartphone. I don't understand people who take out loans for Samsung and iPhone. and I would like to stay on it, but limited budget 12 thousand rubles for a smartphone did the trick.

Now everything up to 25,000 rubles are budget smartphones, but the truth is that here in Orel people buy smartphones for 10,000 rubles and for them it is very expensive. This does not apply to people who buy an iPhone for 40-80 thousand on credit.

In addition to the cost, I had three more wishes: 32 gigabytes of internal memory, a FullHD screen and Qualcomm processor 625 / 636. With MTK I for a long time I walked and didn’t have any problems, but I wanted to move on.

In this price segment, Meizu has Meizu M6 Note and I was almost ready to buy this smartphone. If not for one thing... display.

Meizu M6 Note had a ton of defects.

Before I buy anything I look and read reviews. Many bloggers had complaints about the brightness and color rendition of the display. I started digging deeper and thanks to 4pda I found out that the smartphone not only had a problem with the display, but also a problem with the touchscreen. It doesn't always handle clicks accurately. I did not see such a problem in my Meizu M2 mini. And my sister had a Meizu M2 Note and had no problems.

The problem with the display was that it goes into green color when tilted, and there was not enough brightness margin. This is a failure from Meizu. And for the summer of 2018, Meizu cannot answer anything like this Xiaomi hits, like Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Note.

Xiaomi is beyond competition.

In such a situation, no matter how “die-hard” a fan you are, you start looking at your competitors. Only Xiaomi fits into my price range, so I started looking at them. My wife has been using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 since the beginning of summer, in an “expensive and rich” color. She likes it, I also like the smartphone, except for the color. I chose Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. I ordered a smartphone on TMALL for 10,800 rubles, which fit into my budget and I was willing to pay this money.

Yes, you could save money by ordering global version from another seller, yes, you could take Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, but I have a budget and everything before it is normal, everything above is bad.

Differences between Meizu and Xiaomi.

left: Meizu M2 Mini, right: Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus.

The main difference when moving from Meizu to Xiaomi is the management experience. If in Meizu everything was controlled by one button and this was the most, then in Xiaomi there are gestures and on-screen buttons.

I didn’t use gestures, but the on-screen buttons are just what I need. Fortunately, previous smartphones had just these and I had experience using them.

For the shell plus/minus everything is the same. The basic settings are the same, the only thing personal is the lack of Google Play services. They had to be installed from the Flyme store. Xiaomi Google Play comes out of the box and this is not only correct, but also logical. Meizu should not forget that FlymeOS is primarily a shell, and not a separate operating system, as they think.

By speed Xiaomi works MIUI and Meizu Flyme OS costs the same. I didn’t measure the speed with benchmarks, but there is no difference by eye. In both cases everything is quite fast. Of course, Redmi 5 Plus does everything much faster compared to the old Meizu M2 Mini, but the smoothness of animation in the shells is the same.

If Meizu introduced real competitor Redmi 5 Plus, then maybe I would stay with FlymeOS. This good shell and Meizu M2 Mini was of good quality. I don’t know what exactly the problems are with the Meizu M6 Note, but it seems to me that they decided to start saving.

If you follow new products, you have heard about Meizu M6T. But this smartphone was created as a competitor to Redmi 5. It has nothing to do with Redmi 5 Plus and especially Redmi 5 Note.

It turns out an interesting picture that Meizu does not have 10,000 to 15,000 rubles in its budget standing models, which can compete with Xiaomi. Perhaps the situation will change radically by autumn and winter, when many manufacturers present their new products, but this moment Xiaomi is definitely on top.

Answering the question of what to buy, I will say the following: if you have a budget of 10,000 - 15,000 rubles, then take Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus or Xiaomi Redmi 5 Note. If your budget is lower, you can take Meizu M8C. I think the price will soon drop and this smartphone will be able to compete with budget phones from Xiaomi.

Ever since Chinese manufacturers began to produce good quality smartphones, consumers all over the world became interested in their products. Company products Meizu and Xiaomi became popular due to quality combined with low prices. They constantly compete with each other both in their homeland and throughout the world.

Of course, they have minor flaws, but they are fully compensated for affordable price. In this article we will try to tell you which company has fewer of these disadvantages, which means whose products are better. We will talk about the positive and negative sides of the gadgets produced by each brand, and understand the balance of power.

Why are Meizu smartphones better?

Design solutions

Minor OS drawbacks

The production of a large number of models, albeit on similar, but still excellent hardware, makes the user support procedure more difficult. The result of this is the appearance of minor bugs in the firmware, which make it more difficult to operate the device. Which, naturally, spoils the impression of him. Untimely release of updates is not uncommon. There are cases when an attempt to get rid of one glitch provoked the appearance of another. Some menu items are not fully translated into Russian.

Price corresponds to characteristics

Meizu smartphones are inexpensive when compared to, say, HTC or Samsung. But their cost relative to the analog model from Xiaomi is still higher. If in Maisie they ask for 400 US dollars for the flagship model, then almost the same device from Xiaomi will be 100 dollars cheaper.

Whether it is better or not is for each user to decide for himself. But they definitely have advantages:

Price policy

In statements by Xiaomi representatives, there is always a statement that income from the sale of smartphones for the company is not the main source of capital. Their means of earning money is by selling services along with other electronic devices and accessories.

We're talking about TVs, rice cookers, network equipment, headphones, fitness bracelets, external batteries and a very long list various items. Implementation mobile devices carried out practically at cost. In their opinion, it is difficult to find something that has the same characteristics at a similar price.

IR port

Since the company's main specialization is household appliances, its engineers decided that it would be a good idea to use a smartphone as universal remote control. Infrared diodes are installed on almost all Xiaomi smartphones. With its help and the built-in program Mi Remote it becomes possible to transmit control commands to the TV, air conditioner, multimedia center, home cinema and a large number of other household appliances. According to this parameter, Xiaomi is one of the best in the world.

Unified infrastructure

The Chinese have created their own ecosystem, like Apple. It allows you to combine all branded electronic devices into a single infrastructure. We are also talking about cloud storage. Its distinctive feature is the convenient synchronization of devices for each user, and the availability of free five gigabytes on the server. In addition, the interaction of devices is well developed. How Xiaomi gadgets compares favorably with Meizu analogues, this is because all synchronization functions work reliably. And this does not depend on the firmware or location.

Iron power

In the campaign it is customary to develop even models budget smartphones on chips belonging to the middle class Qualcomm Snapdragon or top-end MediaTek. While the competing company uses such chips exclusively for flagship models. For lovers Xiaomi games better for sure.

Disadvantages of Xiaomi smartphones

Limiting circulation, allowing sellers to make large markups.

The company uses only its website to sell its smartphones. The company has virtually no stores outside of China. You can purchase a smartphone from this company on the website only in countries where the company has an office. Gadgets are supplied to the sales network in very limited quantities. Playing on demand and initial shortages, sellers within a few minutes buy up everything that is put up for sale. And then it’s all resold, naturally, with a significant markup. So, for the Mi Mix smartphone, which officially costs 500 US dollars, in the first days after the launch it could be purchased from resellers for 1 thousand dollars.

Problems with components

To implement quick release new developments to a specialized market, Xiaomi has to resort to the services of several different suppliers at the same time. The same applies to collectors. And therefore, it is not uncommon for different batches of the same model to be equipped with different displays, cameras and sensors. This entails at least a slight variation in quality. In addition, the development and optimization process becomes more complicated. software. This is explained by the need to include drivers for various components in the OS assembly or to register universal options. This sometimes entails situations where the same firmware version behaves differently on devices from different batches.

Update instability

Not connecting with Android system updates for Xiaomi is a typical problem. First of all, this applies to devices manufactured using MediaTek chips. On those models that use Qualcomm, updates occur more frequently. Yes, and it came out again Android version installs faster. So, if the Redmi Note 3 model does not have MTK, and is unlikely to have it, then the Redmi Note 3 Pro with Qualcomm has it and is already on Android approach 7.

The OS has both shortcomings and shortcomings

Adding to the problems that arise with the update is the presence of bugs in the operation of the systems. We have already discussed the reasons why they arise above. Availability of diverse model range coupled with the lack of real benefits from the sale of smartphones does not allow Xiaomi to afford the maintenance of a large staff of engineering workers, as well as testers. To test beta versions, you have to attract volunteers, and they don’t always have bugs. As a result, a glitch that was not detected during beta testing reaches users along with official update. Similar situation Sometimes it also occurs in Meizu, but it doesn’t happen very often.

Localization is the name of another software problem. Gadgets that are not designed to target non-Chinese markets do not include not only a Russian-language version, but also Google services. If the seller has not re-flashed the assembly, then localization can cause a lot of trouble. But even if the firmware is available, there is no guarantee of high-quality localization, and that no side bugs appeared when the firmware was rebuilt.

Bottom line

From all of the above, we can conclude that both Meizu and Xiaomi have advantages, as well as disadvantages. Distinctive feature of both brands is the affordability of prices. It would seem that the official prices for Xiaomi products are lower, but the leveling done by sellers reduces this advantage to nothing.

It is felt only when the purchase is made directly in official store on the territory of China. In Russia or Ukraine, it is almost impossible to purchase products from both companies at their stated prices.

Both companies have a number of shortcomings related to software. We can say that Meizu looks preferable in this regard, although its products also have shortcomings.

Another common disadvantage is the lack of a slot for a memory card on flagship models. This is due to two reasons:

  • The desire to avoid receiving complaints from users for cheap MicroSD, which negatively affects performance.
  • I don't want to miss the opportunity to get additional income on rent for cloud storage.

The cameras used on Meizu have better developed software. And this has great importance for those who like to take photographs. Best buy for music lovers flagship models the same company, which have discrete DACs. And in general, this company produces beautiful smartphones, the prices of which are incredible.

Xiaomi smartphone, it's always available device with top-end hardware or a budget phone with middle-class filling. Perfect camera performance or Hi-Fi sound You shouldn’t expect anything from them, but performance in games and heavy programs will be slightly higher than that of Meizu. If you are interested in managing all the equipment in your home using a budget device, then Xiaomi has no competition. And, finally, it is best to buy Xiaomi smartphones on Qualcomm chips if you want to receive updates regularly and wait new Android to your device.
