Comparison of iPhone models. Comparison of overall dimensions, screen sizes and diagonal of all iPhones of different models in centimeters

In this article, you will find a comparison of all popular iPhone models in terms of size and weight.

The whole world is looking forward to the appearance of a new iPhone model, and when this happens, this phenomenon turns into a grandiose event, the news of which is scattered around the globe.

  • This is evidenced by the news of the main information channels of each country, the Internet is "replete" with articles about the emergence of new items, and people on the streets are just talking about this - someone is waiting for a new gadget on sale, while others are just dreaming of a new modern phone.
  • This is how the presentation of each model takes place, but the popularity of the previous one does not fade away with the advent of the new one.
  • The iPhone is always ahead of other gadgets, and everything matters in it, but buyers are especially concerned about the screen size and dimensions of the smartphone.

Every year there is a presentation of a new smartphone from Apple, but last year two innovative models from this well-known manufacturer saw the light - the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. They differ from each other both in technical characteristics and in size. If you want to make a choice in favor of purchasing a particular model, then you need to study not only the technical parameters of the gadgets, but also their dimensions.

iPhone 4- this is a device for those people who do not pursue new products and prefer proven reliability. Its dimensions are small, but the quality of the filling is not inferior to newer models. In addition, the smartphone is attracted by the reasonable price, which, in comparison with the innovative gadgets of this brand, remains almost the main criterion for choosing this model.

Dimensions of iPhone 4:

iPhone 5 and 5S made of more innovative materials. One of these models used a combination of metal and ceramic parts and parts. Therefore, the weight of these smartphones is much less than the previous version, which cannot be said about the size.

Dimensions of iPhone 5:

IPhone 5S Dimensions:

The iPhone 6 and 6S models are the same in size, but differ slightly in technical characteristics, but the 6 Plus surpassed both in size and in other indicators. But still, manufacturers did not get too carried away with the creation of a smartphone with large dimensions, and now you will not surprise anyone with a phone the size of a tablet. Therefore, everything is good in moderation.

Dimensions iPhone 6:

Dimensions iPhone 6 Plus:

IPhones 7 and 7 Plus differ in size, weight and screen size. All this can be seen with the naked eye. Manufacturers have tried their best and have created a truly real innovation in the field of gadgets. Users of these modern models have already appreciated all the advantages, but for those who are still making the choice of their dream smartphone, here are the dimensions for comparison:

Dimensions iPhone 7:

Dimensions iPhone 7 Plus:

Any smartphone model from this manufacturer is worthy of attention and respect, but each person makes a choice in favor of one or another parameter. Someone prefers a low price, choosing later models, while others are chasing new technologies, and overpaying a lot of money, choose the latest novelties. Each person is individual, like the iPhone model. This can be seen in the dimensions, there are almost no identical models.

Naturally, the dimensions of the phone are of great importance, but the screen size is considered to be no less important. After all, a smartphone for many of us is a desktop PC, a home theater and an e-book. I would like to make it comfortable with him to read blogs and posts on social networks, watch movies and play your favorite games.

The diagonal of the phone is used to assess the degree of its coolness; the larger the diagonal, but within reasonable limits, the better. Accordingly, Apple also has its finger on the pulse and the latest model has a 5.5-inch screen diagonal. But, if anyone prefers a smartphone with a more modest size, then you can choose a model from past years.

Nowadays, almost no one measures the diagonal of a phone in centimeters. Everyone is already accustomed to hearing about this parameter in inches, so it is more convenient and more understandable.

Comparison of sizes of iPhone 6, 6S, 6 Plus and 7 in centimeters

If your choice fell on the latest models of iPhones, but you cannot decide which one is better and which one to buy, then look at the comparison of the sizes of the iPhone models 6, 6S, 6 Plus and 7. The table is presented not in centimeters, but in millimeters, as is customary from the manufacturer. If you want to see the dimensions in centimeters, then you will find them above in the article.

Comparison of sizes of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in centimeters

If you want to opt only for the 7th iPhone model, then compare the dimensions using the table above. We can say right away that the iPhone 7 Plus model is superior to the previous model in all respects: length, width, thickness and weight.

For those iPhone fans who need to choose between the fifth and sixth versions of Apple smartphones, we offer a comparison of the sizes of the iPhone 5, 5S and 6, 6S, 6 Plus in centimeters:

Now that you know the sizes of all popular iPhone models, it will be easier for you to make the right choice.

Video: iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6s - comparison and impressions

Despite the fact that Apple presents each new smartphone as ideal, even the biggest fans of the “apple” brand understand that there are both strong and weak devices in the iPhone lineup. In this article, we have to answer the question of what is the flagship phone of 2013 iPhone 5S.

At first glance, the iPhone 5S is not much different from its predecessor - the iPhone 5. However, in fact, Apple has done a good job both on the external and internal changes to this model. What's new in S? There are many modifications, and here are only the largest of them:

  • improved technological process of manufacturing the body
  • new processor
  • improved camera
  • Touch ID
  • iOS 7

As you can see, there is something to talk about. In this review, we will detail these and less significant changes in the Apple iPhone 5S, as well as analyze its pros and cons. Let's start the description, of course, with the design.

Appearance

So, as we mentioned above, outwardly the 5S, at first glance, looks exactly like its predecessor - iPhone 5. Slim aluminum body, silver side bezel, original back panel: top and bottom glossy stripes in a bright color - black or white, covered tempered glass, and between them - a matte "center" of a discreet shade - gray or silver. And, of course, a shiny "apple" stands out on the matte surface.

But if you take a closer look at the rear panel, you can see that the flash looks a little different, and if you take a closer look at the front panel, you notice a much more serious difference. The Home button looks different - the one located under the display. Throughout the history of the iPhone, this key looked the same, and now in 5S it lost the square outline depicted in its center, but got a nice edging around the perimeter, and also ... a fingerprint scanner was built into it. However, we will talk about this innovation in a separate section.

And now about another important change in appearance. For the S-ki, Apple has come up with a model in a new color - white and gold. Finally, a "fun" change in the traditionally strict color scheme of the iPhone! By the way, the black-gray and white-silver models have also undergone some changes - the silver has become a little, and the gray is noticeably lighter.

And, finally, about the external changes, which cannot be noticed, no matter how much you look (yes, such a paradox) - an improved technological process of applying paint to the matte body and side edging. The fact is that the application literally poured from the 5-ki. This was, perhaps, the worst "bug" of iPhone five, and all users suffered from it, even those who diligently packed the device into a protective case. It seemed that even if the five simply stood beautifully on the shelf, the paint from it, too, would certainly crumble slowly.

Fortunately, Apple did not pretend that the problem did not exist and promptly took appropriate measures to fix it and voila - the paint does not peel off with the iPhone 5S. Moreover, the "apple" giant has worked with the buttons, they are pressed more tightly and clearly, and in the case they sit more reliably. Not to say, of course, that in the top five everything was kept on parole, but the body of its follower was made much better.

Some users even say that the iPhone 5S is heavier and more solid in the hand. If you thought so, then to the question - how much does the iPhone 5S weigh, we have an amazing answer for you - 112 grams, like the five.

iPhone 5S and dimensions in all three "dimensions" are the same as its predecessor: width - 5.86 cm, length - 12.38 cm, thickness - 0.76 cm.

The location, view of the jacks and connectors in the S-ki is the same as in the five (the exception is the Home button, but we have already said everything about it). How many speakers does the iPhone 5 S have? Again, like the fifth - there are two of them, one transmits voice and is located above the display, the second - for speakerphone, listening to music, etc. - at the bottom end on the right.

Display

What is the difference between the iPhone 5S display? It has practically not changed - the diagonal is 4 inches, the resolution is 1136x640 pixels, the pixel density is 326 ppi. However, why change anything, if the clarity is excellent, the viewing angles are as wide as possible, the margin of brightness is sufficient.

The color reproduction deserves a separate compliment - all shades are bright, but natural, in contrast, for example, to the display of one of the main competitors of the 5S - the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone, which "suffers" from excessive saturation.

The only drawback of the screen in the iPhone 5S is its size, after all 4 inches is not enough for a comfortable solution of all tasks of a modern user, reading books and watching movies, for example, is completely inconvenient. On the other hand, it’s a matter of taste, if you like to read books from paper and watch movies on a huge plasma, no “shovel” will save you.

Hardware and software

The iPhone 5S was the first phone to feature a 64-bit processor, but the move was met with controversy. Maybe now mobile applications have begun to adapt to this architecture, but at the time of release, such a solution was more likely a groundwork for the future than an improvement necessary for users here and now.

But what was actually expected from Apple, namely an increase in the number of cores - from 2 to 4, did not happen. The 64-bit A7 processor runs on 2 cores with a maximum clock speed of 1300 MHz. The size of the RAM has not changed either - 1 GB.

However, here, as in the case of the display, I would like to ask - why do we need 4 cores and more RAM, if this "apple" device demonstrates excellent technical characteristics and with less modest parameters? The speed of the iPhone 5S is fast, everything runs very smoothly and without freezing. For some competing flagships, such a clear work is not available on 4 cores. And all because competitors operate on Google Android and do not have the ability to optimize the platform for hardware, but Apple has been working on "native" iOS from year to year, and the results are making themselves felt.

However, in the case of the iPhone 5S, everything did not go as smoothly as usual. S-ka became the first smartphone that came out with a pre-installed iOS version 7. iOS 7 - both then and so far, is the largest platform update in history. And the point is not only in new chips - what is the long-awaited "curtain" for quick access to the most frequently used functions, but also in a complete visual revolution. Of course, such drastic changes took time to settle down, so there were some barely noticeable lags in the first versions of iOS 7, but, one way or another, they were the most imperceptible on the S-ke, both fours could be updated to this version , and iPhone 5.

How much more powerful is the new A7 processor than the A6 that the five was equipped with? According to Apple - twice, in fact, the same is confirmed by the benchmarks, but as for the obvious difference for the average user, it will be noticeable only on really "heavy" applications like iMovie and 3D games. Well, as for the speed of performing tasks of light and medium, the difference between the work of A6 and A7 is measured literally in fractions of a second.

By the way, the iPhone 5S is also equipped with an M7 coprocessor, which is mainly responsible for motion sensors and allows the main chipset to rest on tasks such as counting steps. This "rest" leads to a more economical consumption of the battery, which means that the autonomous operating time is increased.

As for the ROM, the S, like the iPhone 5, is available in three variations - 16, 32 and 64 GB.

Touch ID

Special attention should be paid to the new Home button, which is now Touch ID or, in Russian, a fingerprint scanner. iPhone 5S was the first i-smartphone in which you do not need to enter a password to unlock, you just need to touch the Home button.

I must say, at the time of the release of the S-ki, other flagships had already worked with similar solutions, however, time has shown that Apple is still the only company that has made a really cool fingerprint sensor. Everything is set up according to very simple instructions, the original of the print is remembered quickly, the response is clear, instant and almost error-free.

By the way, you can use Touch ID not only to unlock your smartphone, but also to purchase applications in the App Store, that is, in fact, the scanner replaces two passwords - unlock and Apple ID. In general, it is very convenient.

Cameras

The sensor in the iPhone 5S camera remains the same - 8 megapixels, as in the fifth iPhone, but the pixel size has been increased and the aperture value has been decreased, which made it possible to get better footage in low light conditions.

In addition, Apple has invented a new True Tone flash that also works to improve the quality of night shots.

Well, improvements on the "little things" - improved detail and viewing angle, increased clarity.

In general, the megapixels are the same, but the result is completely different. You will definitely notice the difference between shots with the five and the 5S, especially if the shot was not taken in daylight, but in not very good lighting conditions.

New features have appeared in the video mode, the coolest of them is the slow motion function with a frequency of 120 frames per second. Of course, this is unlikely to be useful to ordinary users, but the thing is definitely funny, in the end, practical sense is not always needed, sometimes you can indulge in it.

As for the front camera, there is nothing special to say, it shoots very well, but not significantly better than the five.

Autonomy

The battery capacity of the S-ki has increased in comparison with its predecessor by only 120 mAh and is 1560 mAh. However, as you remember, the 5S battery has to "pull" twice as powerful processor. Nevertheless, the battery, which is not greatly enlarged, seems to cope. The Apple iPhone 5S smartphone, like the five, will last a day in an active-moderate mode. Quite good autonomy for a modern flagship.

To take or not to take?

So, the iPhone 5S review has come to an end. At the beginning of the article, we talked about the fact that Apple has both weak and strong models. What is the hero of this publication?

I think from the general "warm" tone of the review, you understand that we classify the S-ku in the second category, and this is justified. There are a lot of changes and the iPhone 5S demonstrates excellent characteristics.

What is this device good for, and how does it differ from its predecessor? Firstly, Apple has corrected the errors in the technological process, so if the 5 wears out very quickly, the iPhone 5S will delight you with a flawless look for a long time. Secondly, a new processor has appeared, which, yes, is not 4-core and the RAM in it is very modest by today's standards, but these resources are enough for fast, trouble-free work. Thirdly, a camera that opens up new possibilities in low light conditions. And finally, Touch ID. And these are not all positive changes, but only the most important ones.

If you want to find the significant disadvantages of the iPhone 5S, then it will probably be difficult for you. The only thing to find fault with is a small diagonal, but, as we said, this is a very subjective drawback.

So is the iPhone 5S worth buying? If you have any other younger model of iPhone, of course, buying an S-ku (even in comparison with a 5-ka), you will feel the difference. However, there is one but. Today there is another very interesting iPhone model on the market, it is called SE - Special Edition.

This device was released after the 6S especially for those nostalgic about the very successful fifth series. Externally, the SE is almost one in one 5S, but the inside is almost as powerful as the 6S. That is, SE "makes" even a six, but at the same time it costs less.

The average price of the iPhone SE is 26,000 rubles, the iPhone 6 is 36,000 rubles. However, the iPhone 5S can be obtained for 18,000 rubles (all prices are for the 16 GB version). In general, everything depends on the size of the wallet, the 5S is, of course, a great smartphone, but the SE is several orders of magnitude more powerful, so if finances allow, you should take a special version. Do not allow? Take the iPhone 5S and be sure you are buying a really cool and powerful device.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR)

SAR levels refer to the amount of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by the human body when using a mobile device.

Head SAR (EU)

The SAR level indicates the maximum amount of electromagnetic radiation to which the human body is exposed if you hold a mobile device near your ear in a talking position. In Europe, the maximum SAR value for mobile devices is limited to 2 W / kg per 10 grams of human tissue. This standard was established by the CENELEC committee in accordance with the IEC standards, following the ICNIRP guidelines of 1998.

0.93 W / kg (Watts per kilogram)
Body SAR (EU)

The SAR level indicates the maximum amount of electromagnetic radiation that a person's body is exposed to when holding a mobile device at hip level. The highest SAR value for mobile devices in Europe is 2 W / kg per 10 grams of human tissue. This standard was established by the CENELEC committee in accordance with ICNIRP guidelines from 1998 and IEC standards.

0.99 W / kg (Watts per kilogram)
Head SAR (US)

The SAR level indicates the maximum amount of electromagnetic radiation that a person's body is exposed to if a mobile device is held close to the ear. The maximum value used in the United States is 1.6 W / kg per gram of human tissue. US mobile devices are controlled by CTIA and the FCC conducts tests and sets their SAR values.

1.18 W / kg (Watts per kilogram)
Body SAR (US)

The SAR level indicates the maximum amount of electromagnetic radiation that a person's body is exposed to when holding a mobile device at hip level. The highest SAR value in the United States is 1.6 W / kg per gram of human tissue. This value is set by the FCC and CTIA monitors mobile devices for compliance with this standard.

So, today we will talk about a topic that interests a lot of Apple users. We will talk about the size of the iPhone, or to be more precise, we will consider all models without exceptions.

Today smartphones are made so large that many want to know everything in detail down to millimeters. The reason for this is probably the different hand sizes and I want to know right away how comfortable the phone will be.

The article will be structured as follows, you can simply go to the desired model and find out about its dimensions, or go to the table and compare this indicator with other models.

Sizes of first generation iPhones, 3G, 3GS

You can't do without the very first iPhone, because everything began with them and this is part of the story. Sometimes you come across people who use such phones and they are completely satisfied with them.

Thanks to the small screen and bulky body, the dimensions of these smartphones were incredibly small. People with any hand size could use them, if you know what I mean.

  • first generation: 115.5 x 61 x 11.6 mm;
  • 3G: 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm;
  • 3GS: 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm.

Oddly enough, at that time it was considered incredibly large gadgets and a lot of people wanted to get it. The requirements were very different.

IPhone 4, 4S sizes

These two representatives were the last to be equipped with 3.5-inch screens. Nevertheless, they managed to gain quite a lot of popularity at that time.

Despite the very large weight, the glass case conquered a lot of people with its appearance and smartphones were dismantled like hot cakes.

  • 4: 115.2 x 58.66 x 9.3 mm;
  • 4S: 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm.

Steve Jobs said that this is the ideal size for a phone and you don't need more. But as it turned out in reality, the market began to dictate completely different rules.

IPhone sizes 5, 5S, 5C, SE

Smartphones have grown in size, albeit slightly. The screens acquired a 4-inch figure, but the design was still recognizable and elements of past models were present.

The smartphone received the most drastic changes from the back, because now it was solid aluminum and the phone looked completely different.

  • 5: 58.6 x 123.8 x 7.6 mm;
  • 5S: 59.2 x 124.4 x 8.97 mm;
  • 5C: 58.6 x 123.8 x 7.6 mm;
  • SE: 58.6 x 123.8 x 7.6 mm.

There were a lot of memes about lengthening the phone of the last generation. But as it turns out later, the 5S will become one of the most successful in design.

IPhone 6, 6 PLUS, 6S, 6S PLUS sizes

The time has come for global changes and Apple had to fully adapt to the market, real shovels began to appear.

We forget about the comfortable size of smartphones, because now the main criterion when choosing is the large screen. People are starting to sew new pockets in their pants.

  • 6: 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm;
  • 6 PLUS: 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm;
  • 6S: 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm;
  • 6S PLUS: 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm.

But as practice has shown, despite the not very successful design, everyone was happy to buy Apple and this line is in demand to this day.

IPhone sizes 7, 7 PLUS

A new generation of smartphones began to appear and, as we can see, there were no particular changes in the size of the screen, and even more so in size.

They just changed the design a little and now it has become more accurate. New colors have been added and many small interesting changes have appeared.

  • 7: 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm;
  • 7 PLUS: 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm.

So far, the growth has stopped and it is very interesting what will happen next. After all, Apple loves to dictate its own rules, under which many manufacturers must adapt.

Comparison of all sizes of iPhones in centimeters and inches

Finally, I would like to make a large comparison table, which will contain the dimensions of all iPhones in centimeters and inches.

Most editions use millimeters, so by tradition I will use them as well. For ease of comparison, here are a couple of interesting points.

There are 10 millimeters in 1 centimeter, 1 inch is equal to 2.54 centimeters and, logically, in 1 inch we have 25.4 millimeters.

Here is the plate itself, in which the first indicator is in mm, and the second in inches:

Model Height Width Thickness
1st generation 115 mm (4.5 in) 61 mm (2.4 in) 11.6 mm (0.46 in)
3G 115.5 mm (4.55 in) 62.1 mm (2.44 in) 12.3 mm (0.48 in)
3GS 115.5 mm (4.55 in) 62.1 mm (2.44 in) 12.3 mm (0.48 in)
4 115.2 mm (4.54 in) 58.6 mm (2.31 in) 9.3 mm (0.37 in)
4S 115.2 mm (4.54 in) 58.6 mm (2.31 in) 9.3 mm (0.37 in)
5 123.8 mm (4.87 in) 58.6 mm (2.31 in) 7.6 mm (0.30 in)
5C 124.4 mm (4.90 in) 59.2 mm (2.33 in) 8.97 mm (0.353 in)
5S 123.8 mm (4.87 in) 58.6 mm (2.31 in) 7.6 mm (0.30 in)
SE 123.8 mm (4.87 in) 58.6 mm (2.31 in) 7.6 mm (0.30 in)
6 138.1 mm (5.44 in) 67.0 mm (2.64 in) 6.9 mm (0.27 in)
6 PLUS 158.1 mm (6.22 in) 77.8 mm (3.06 in) 7.1 mm (0.28 in)
6S 138.3 mm (5.44 in) 67.1 mm (2.64 in) 7.1 mm (0.28 in)
6S PLUS 158.2 mm (6.23 in) 77.9 mm (3.07 in) 7.3 mm (0.29 in)
7 138.3 mm (5.44 in) 67.1 mm (2.64 in) 7.1 mm (0.28 in)
7 PLUS 158.2 mm (6.23 in) 77.9 mm (3.07 in) 7.3 mm (0.29 in)

This is approximately how it looks and now you can comfortably compare all the necessary indicators. As for me, everything is done very conveniently.
