Sometimes it becomes necessary to change the picture by making the background transparent in it. Sometimes a picture will come across, but its background does not fit your site, and you want to make it transparent. Of course, if you have Photoshop and know how to work on it, you can do it there too. But there is an easier way, so to speak, "for dummies".

While surfing the Internet one day, I came across an article about Pixlr Photo Editor. By the way, this is not a regular graphic editor, but an online editor. Here is a link to it - http://pixlr.com/editor/ .

It is this program that will help us make a picture with a transparent background in PNG format.

We have, for example, the following image:

I want to remove the black background from it and make it transparent.

To do this, go to the program, select the item "Open image from computer" (Open image from computer) and load the desired image. Immediately change the program language to Russian (menu Language-> Russian language).

On the right in the "Layers" window you will see a thumbnail of the picture and a box. Double-click on the block (the "bird" in the box should appear). This way you remove the blocking from the background.

After that, select the "Magic Wand" tool (on the left of the toolbar), bring it to the background of the picture and click with the mouse. The background will be highlighted with a dotted line. Use the Delete key to delete the background.

This is something that can be found in any PC, regardless of who is its owner - a woman or a man, an adult or a child. Often there is a need to put an image on the Internet or just want to do something interesting with your photo. For example, replace the usual, real background with some colorful, more interesting and original one.

To do this, we need some kind of program for convenient image editing, in which we can perform a few simple steps and replace the background image with a photo.

We will tell you on the example of two programs.

The first is a simpler option - paint net. This program reminds us of the usual one for drawing, which is included in the standard list of Windows. But it has been slightly modernized and has more features and functions. The program is very convenient when you need to remove the background from the picture, and leave only a specific object, it is also possible to use various effects to change the image, you can put text on photos and much more.

Making a transparent background here is pretty easy. Open the desired photo or picture using the paint net program. When you click on the line in the context menu "open with", select our program in the list, then the picture will open in the edit field.

On the left side of the screen, you see icons - buttons that we will have to use. Of all the available ones, we need an “eraser” and a “magic wand”.

How to make a transparent background? Learning. First, we enlarge the image so that we can more accurately and accurately erase unnecessary parts of the image with an eraser and perform this task, as close as possible to the object that you need to leave in a single visible instance. Then we take the tool "magic wand". With its help, you select unnecessary areas of the image and delete them with the "Delete" button. I want to note that this tool selects all parts of the picture of the same color. Be careful, the unwanted area may match in color with the desired part of the image, do not accidentally delete anything extra. Just in case, programmers have come up with a function to undo the last actions - this is a blue arrow located on the toolbar. And so, with the help of the “eraser” and the “magic wand”, we gradually remove everything superfluous from the image. Around the desired object, only the background in the box remains. To save your image to a computer with a transparent background, click on the "file" menu line - "save as" and, choosing the save path and the required format - gif or png, save.

In such an important process of working with photography, Photoshop will be a good helper for us. How to make the background of an image transparent in this more complex program?

Here you can use the same tools and work principle as in paint net, but if you need good quality, very smooth and beautiful edges of the selected element that you want to leave on a transparent background, then you will have to work a little and use other buttons toolbar. You need to use the "lasso" tool - namely, the Polygonal Lasso Tool and the Magnetic Lasso Tool (if you do not have a Russified version of the program). Using this tool, we outline our object, setting fixation points with a stroke, exactly repeating the shape of the object, and when you connect the line drawn by the “lasso” (close it), it will blink. This means that the selected object is ready for further changes. We click on the selected fragment with the right mouse button and select the line "Layer via Copi" in the context menu - we make a copy of the layer. After that, in the "layers" tab, select the original image, select it with the "Rectangular Marquee toll" tool (it is located on the very top left corner of the control panel). Press the "del" button on your keyboard. The background became transparent. You can save the image in this form in the same way as in the above program.

We go into the Pixlr program, in the pop-up Pixlr Editor window, click "Upload image from computer."

Place the cursor on the white background of the image to be removed and press the left mouse button. As a result, a dotted line appears around the circle, which indicates the boundaries of the transparency of the picture. It remains now to click the "Edit" and "Clear" buttons. As a result, we made a picture without a background.

It remains to save the picture. If our picture is in the png extension, then it can be saved through the "File" and "Save As" buttons. If you made a transparent background of the image in another extension, then the resulting image must be saved in png format. To do this, click the "File" and "Save for Web and Devices" buttons, and at the top of the new window, select "PNG" and click the "Save" button. How to make a transparent background for an image.

For example, I have a picture that I really liked, but the main background of this picture is white, and the background of my site is a completely different color (for example, blue).

My task is to make the background of the image absolutely transparent and place this image on the site with a different background. In order to make the background transparent, I will use an online image service - Pixlr.com. Pixlr.com is kind of like Photoshop. You can edit any image using this service Online without installing any programs on your computer.

1) Go to the Pixlr website and upload an image:

2) On the right side in the "Layers" window, double-click on the "lock" image, which prevents us from removing the back layer in the picture.

After two clicks, the "lock" will turn into a "tick", which allows us to remove the background from the image.

3) In the "Tools" panel, select "Magic Wand" and click on the background that we want to get rid of. In my case, I'm clicking on a white background that I need to remove. After clicking on the background, the background to be removed will be highlighted with a dotted line.

4) After the background is selected, press the key Delete and the background will be removed:

5) Save the picture with a transparent background to your computer. You must save in PNG format. Otherwise the transparent background will be lost.

As a result, in just a minute I made a picture with a transparent background and now I can place it on the site, for example, with a blue background.

I would like to note that this method will not always be able to remove any main background of the picture and make it transparent, but for most cases this option is suitable.
