Modern software. Key features of the package

If the additional processor cores, gigabytes of memory and megapixels of the camera are no longer surprising, the increase in battery capacity can still delight smartphone users.

For those who are tired of looking for a charger and outlet every night, Ulefone has released the second iteration of the Power smartphone, which retains the impressive 6050 mAh battery of its predecessor and received an updated filling. As a result, we are promised 4 days of active use without recharging.

Is it true? And how convenient is it to use a device that is almost a centimeter thick?

Equipment

They are greeted by clothes ... and delivery set. And here Ulefone Power 2 is doing very well. The manufacturer boasts that the cost of complete accessories is as high as $ 40. Among them there was everything that you can imagine, except for a headset:
  • microUSB-USB cable;
  • power supply unit (with support for MediaTek PE);
  • a clip for removing a SIM card;
  • OTG cable;
  • case with leather insert;
  • safety glass;
  • metal stand with a ring.

A very solid set. The glass can be glued when the film pre-glued to the display is noticeably worn out. The OTG cable allows not only connecting flash drives, keyboards and mice, but also other smartphones and players for recharging. That is, Ulefone Power 2 can act as a full-fledged Power Bank.

To wear a cover, or not to wear - good question... There is no particular desire to hang something on top of an already rather thick smartphone, but on trips or during active rest protection will not be superfluous.

Design and ergonomics

The fact that Ulefone Power 2 is in front of us will be said only by the inscription on the back metal cover. On the front, the smartphone reveals Meizu MX5, Moto G5 Plus, Huawei P10, Elephone S7 and a bunch of Chinese.

But I'm sure you are concerned not so much with the appearance of the smartphone as with its dimensions. Carrying 210 grams of metal and glass in your pocket is not at all difficult, but not in the summer. The smartphone drags on the shorts or pants pocket and this causes some discomfort.

Using a smartphone with one hand is also very difficult, the large thickness complicates the grip and does not allow fingers to reach all the edges of the display. Of course, after a week or two you get used to these features, but at first you have to suffer a little.

There are no complaints about the buttons on the right side - they are easy to find blindly, I have not seen any accidental operation. But the large and single button under the screen is far from perfect. It is touch-sensitive, a short press imitates the "Back" button, a long press calls up the menu running applications... The built-in fingerprint scanner works in about 70% of cases, which is not bad for a Chinese, but painfully far away even for the iPhone 5S. The reading time is about one and a half seconds.

On the bottom of the Ulefone Power 2 there is a charging port and a multimedia speaker. To the latter's credit, it is very loud and not very muffled even if you deliberately cover it with your fingers.

O high-quality reproduction there is no need to speak of music.

Screen

The smartphone display is absolutely standard for any Chinese. 5.5-inch matrix with FullHD resolution and color rendition slightly littered with cold shades.

The margin of brightness is such that it is quite possible to use the display instead of a flashlight in the forest. The truth is not very good when the automatic adjustment is wrong, and this spotlight starts burning your eyes. The sensor's polling rate is quite high and reacts to changes in ambient light quickly, although not always correctly.

For lovers of night reading, the smartphone has an Eye Protection function that softens the shades of blue and white.

Cameras

Ulefone Power 2 received a couple of cameras, both with software interpolation. The front one shoots at a resolution of 8 megapixels, but can artificially scale the picture up to 13 megapixels. The main one "pumps" 13 megapixel photos up to 16 megapixels.

Was it good for you? Not a drop - both modules are mediocre. Front-camera capable only during daylight hours. The main one starts up quickly, but focuses for a long time (about 2 seconds). Noise is noticeable in the photo with a small zoom, even when shooting during the day. The exposure is not always correct, objects are often very dark. Examples of snapshots below:

Full-size images can be downloaded from.
The Camera application itself does not stand out in any way. The interface is very simple, only basic functions... The camera shutter button seems to have been copied from the iPhone.

Screenshots from the application

There is no data on camera sensors and their characteristics, but, according to subjective assessment, the quality of shooting is approximately on a par with colleagues in price category- Note devices from Xiaomi and Meizu.

Iron

Ulefone Power 2 received a very solid amount of memory for its price category. The onboard RAM is 4 GB, and the permanent memory is 64 GB, expandable. And that's all for $ 160. Not bad at all.
But the processor here is simpler than that of competitors. The smartphone is powered by an eight-core MediaTek MT6750T with Cortex A-53 architecture cores. The energy-saving cluster received a frequency of 1 GHz, and the pseudo-performance cluster - 1.5 GHz. It is quite logical that with such a frequency potential and architecture, the smartphone does not show impressive results in benchmarks.

Test results

The most attentive readers, I am sure, have noticed that some applications do not normally recognize the chip and assign a zero frequency to it. Moving away from virtual parrots, things are much better in real life. The smartphone launches all applications quickly, rendering animations is smooth, switching between tasks - without delays. The performance drops, as well as the slight heating of the case, are a little noticeable only in resource-intensive games with 3D graphics.

The smartphone finds satellites slower than devices based on Qualcomm chips; a cold start can take up to 15 seconds. Of the controversial points about the Ulefone Power 2 hardware, only the lack of NFC and not very loud speaker.

Software

From the factory, Ulefone Power 2 comes with Android firmware 7. After the first turn on, another one came cumulative update... Fortunately, no branded shell no, just scary icons that can be "killed" by installing a third-party launcher like Nova, and a bunch of software buns in the settings menu.

Screenshots

The latter include gesture control by a proximity sensor. Waving your hands over your smartphone, you can flip through photos in the gallery, and if you bring the phone to your ear during incoming call, it will automatically answer the call.

Screenshots

Overall impressions of the Ulefone Power 2 firmware remained positive. Experience practically pure android latest version with useful software improvements. As for localization, only a few items from the settings menu are not translated into Russian.

Screenshots

There are no custom firmwares for the smartphone, as well as a serious need for them.

Autonomy

Most main element that the manufacturer boasts - a 6050 mAh battery, which should provide 4 days autonomous work... This is not entirely true, in order to achieve such indicators, you will have to turn on power saving mode, limit yourself in using the Internet, especially mobile, and do not exceed the bar: “2 hours active display in a day".

Screenshots

If you turn off the inner skeptic, then the autonomy of the Ulefone Power 2 really deserves praise. The smartphone can provide 2 days of confident work with 8-9 hours of active display at above average brightness.
- To see the four parts of "Alien" on the train? - No problem.
- Go on a binge on the weekend and not take exercise with you? - You can too.
- Charge a couple of friends dying for dinner? - Give your apples here!
Thanks to the support of MediaTek PE technology, Ulefone Power 2 itself charges in less than 2 hours.

conclusions

Ulefone Power 2 is a good and balanced Chinese for those who are not afraid to carry heavy things in their pockets. It does not allow you to forget about the need for regular charging, but reminds you of this less often than most smartphones. A rich bundle, a large amount of memory and a built-in battery, and a price tag of $ 160 are weighty arguments in favor of this fat metal man.

In terms of other parameters, it is at the level of competitors, and the smartphone has no critical shortcomings. It is unlikely that someone will remember him in a couple of years, but at the moment, this is enough profitable proposition in its price range.

What we liked:

  • generous scope of delivery;
  • brightness margin;
  • loud multimedia speaker;
  • the amount of built-in memory and RAM;
  • pure Android 7 with useful add-ons;
  • the speed of applications and switching between them
  • autonomy;
  • the ability to charge other gadgets and OTG support.

What did not like:

  • you need to get used to the dimensions and weight of the smartphone;
  • auto brightness control is sometimes naughty;
  • work of cameras;
  • performance in games is lower than that of competitors;
  • quiet conversational speaker;
  • no NFC chip.

Or, as an example, Ulefone Power - a smartphone that was equipped with powerful battery at 6050 mAh. Today we are reviewing its improved version Ulefone Power 2. The device was announced at WMC 2017 and now the smartphone is available to the general public for purchase. Below are all the details about the new product.

Ulefone Power 2 design

Since the phone was designed for those who prefer more long time battery life, you should not expect a very thin and elegant body from Ulefone Power 2. A golden rule from the phone world: the larger the battery, the thicker the case. This is the standard, and until technology has stepped forward, no one can do at the same time thin smartphone with a capacious battery. This rule is also true for Ulefone Power 2, the body of the device is 9.9 mm thick. It is about 3mm thicker than a regular smartphone.

The front panel of the phone looks pretty good. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD display from Sharp with a pixel density of 401 ppi and is covered with a protective glass of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. In addition, the screen is equipped with 2.5D glass, which only gives points to the device's appearance. The display is made using LTPS (Low Temperature PolySilicon) technology. The screen itself is excellent, it is bright, has good viewing angles and is readable in the sun. The speaker, front-facing camera and standard set of sensors are located above the screen, while the Home button is located just below it.

The back panel of Ulefone Power 2 is made of metal. It houses the main 13 megapixel single camera and LED flash, the Ulefone logo is located in the center of the body. The power button and volume rocker are on the right side. The SIM card slot is on the left, the 3.5mm audio output can be found on the top edge. Finally, the microUSB charging / sync port, speaker and microphone hole are located on the bottom edge.

The overall design is not bad, but the curved-edged rear panel looks like an attempt by the manufacturer to hide the Ulefone Power 2's real thickness, and it hasn't succeeded. Final words about the design: the phone measures 155 × 77.6 × 9.9 mm and weighs 210 grams. There are three color options available for purchase - black, gold and silver.

Hardware platform and performance

The heart of Ulefone Power 2 is an 8-core processor from Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek, model MT6750T with clock frequency per core 1.5 GHz. This smartphone is gaining about 41,000 points in AnTuTu. In terms of memory, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash are available here. Not a little, right? But that is not all, internal storage can be extended with microSD assistance memory cards for another 256 GB.

This is one of the biggest changes since original model Ulefone Power. As you may recall, the latter comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of flash storage on board. In addition, the manufacturer has replaced the plastic back panel metal, which is definitely a plus. Ulefone Metal 2 can rightfully be called a monster of multitasking, with so much memory on board. The third largest improvement relates to the fingerprint scanner. It is now located on the front panel and aligned with the Home button. The response time is 0.15 seconds, and the fingerprint recognition works at full 360 degrees and supports up to 5 different fingerprints. True, now this design of the scanner very much reminds us of the flagship OnePlus 3.

Wireless interfaces and navigation

Concerning wireless interfaces The MediaTek MT6750T supports 4G LTE Cat.6 as well as high quality voice calls VoLTE. Ulefone Power 2 also supports GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band WiFi 802.11 a / b / g / n with 2.4 / 5GHz frequencies.

Hybrid SIM tray supports two Nano SIM cards format and microSD card memory, up to 256 GB, as mentioned above. GPS and GLONASS are responsible for navigation, this video shows the Ulefone Power 2 GPS test.

Cameras and operating system

One of the less attractive features of this device is the camera. On the back is a 16mm 6-element lens with a large f / 2.2 aperture. The real number of megapixels in the camera sensor is 13 megapixels, but the manufacturer offers software interpolation of images up to 16 megapixels. To be honest, this function is superfluous, since it does not affect the quality of the photo in plus, but the size of the photos themselves becomes larger and accordingly takes up more space. As a bonus, the stock camera app offers 14 built-in light filters. The front camera has a real 8MP sensor with software interpolation up to 13MP.

The OS in Ulefone Power 2 uses Android 7.0 Nougat. it fresh version Android, and knowing this manufacturer, you can even count on several system updates, possibly even to Android O in the distant future.

Battery and autonomy

As the name of the Ulefone Power 2 device suggests, its main feature is the battery. Its capacity is 6050mAh, just like the original Ulefone Power of the first generations. Smartphone is coming with support for fast charging technology Pump Express 2.0 (9V / 2A, 18W) from MediaTek. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to fully charge the battery from zero to 100%. This battery is capable of providing up to 1160 hours of standby time as well as 19 hours of talk time. Actually, excellent autonomy is the thing because of which this smartphone will be bought.

It’s a pity that they didn’t put it in such an almost sub-flag USB Type-C port. This is a modern convenience trend that could enable faster charging performance and a better user experience. But here the usual one is already used micro USB port.

Conclusions: pros, cons, prices and review

Ulefone Power 2 is a configuration improvement over the previous model in the Power line. The smartphone has a whopping 4GB of RAM comparable to flagships, as well as 64GB of flash storage for your photos, music and files. In fact, it has two main features: big battery 6050 mAh and plenty of storage space (microSD up to 256 GB), making the Power 2 one of the most interesting Chinese smartphones the first half of 2017.

The new item, of course, has some drawbacks, but these are trifles compared to what the device for $ 179.99 can offer to its user. So if you are looking for a reliable device based on the fresh Android 7.0 Nougat with good battery life, Ulefone Power 2 is your choice.

What we liked:

  • Quality 5.5-inch Full HD display from Sharp
  • Capacious 6050 mAh battery
  • Quick charge MTK PE 2.0
  • Android 7.0 Nougat firmware
  • Lots of memory 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash + microSD for 256 GB
  • 4G LTE support

What did not like:

  • Main camera at 13 megapixels
  • Thick body with bevels on the back
  • Lack of USB Type-C port

It is about new version"Potential long-liver-hit" and there will be a speech... The novelty has combined a number of features that can attract the attention of the consumer. Interestingly, among them, in addition to good performance decent level autonomy and support for fast charging technology. And the price, despite all the improvements, tried to keep the same level.

Let's start testing Ulefone Power 2 by examining the technical characteristics.

So, the first impression is positive - for adequate money, we are offered very interesting parameters... In addition, compared to Ulefone Power, the manufacturer abandoned removable covers made of exotic materials in favor of metal and significantly improved the hardware characteristics.

Packaging and arrangement of Ulefone Power 2

Ulefone smartphone comes in cardboard box medium in size. It is made of durable and thick cardboard, thanks to which its contents are reliably protected during transportation. All elements are carefully matched to each other, in the design used black, red and white.

Structurally, the package consists of an outer cover and a main compartment sliding on the side. A fabric tongue is provided for easy removal. The cover is completely black, with the name of the model only in the center. The manufacturer's logo took its place on the ends.

WITH back side we find only a white sticker with the identification information of this unit.

Inside we are greeted by the smartphone itself. It is fixed in a special recess and packed in a protective plastic bag.

To get to the package, you need to take out the phone and lift the cardboard cover. Here we find all complete accessories.

Note that separate sections are allocated for the adapter and wires, which eliminates the "dangling" of objects in one common space.

The package includes:

  • Power adapter;
  • USB-microUSB cable;
  • USB-OTG cable;
  • Key clip for removing the card slot;
  • Technical documentation.

In spite of low price new items, the manufacturer did not save on packaging and delivery. He applied quality materials and made sure nothing was damaged in transit. And the box looks good. Nice bonus a USB-OTG cable will become a standard kit.

The successor to the Ulefone Power smartphone launched almost a year ago. The new model has got a more powerful processor, additional gigabyte random access memory, metal case and other improvements. But the most important thing is a huge battery with a capacity of 6,050 mAh, which allows you to forget about charging for several days.

According to their technical specifications Ulefone Power 2 is a typical midrange for 2017. 4GB of RAM is enough for smooth operation the operating system and any applications in multitasking mode. 64 GB of internal memory will allow many users to do without additional card microSD.

If the manufacturer did not skimp on more powerful processor, that would be great. After all, the MT6750T, presented by MediaTek over a year ago, has already become a budget solution. However, he copes with his main duties.

Equipment

The smartphone comes in a flat cardboard box, decorated in black and red colors. The designers did a good job on the packaging. It looks strict, stylish and neat. In such a frame it is not a shame to give a smartphone, and it is also pleasant to take it in your hands.

Ulefone tries to provide all its products with additional accessories. Power 2 was no exception. In addition to the smartphone, cable and charger, the set includes a stylish case, a protective glass for the screen and an OTG cable. The case simulates leather, and the device looks completely different in it.

In addition, there is a multifunctional metal ring that attaches to the back of the smartphone and serves as an additional mount when used with one hand. It can also become a support on which the smartphone will stand on the table.

When buying Ulefone Power 2, the user immediately receives everything necessary for a comfortable and safe use smartphone.

Appearance and assembly

Ulefone Power 2 has a large battery, which is reflected in the appearance. Taking a smartphone in hand, you will immediately feel that 210 grams is serious. The thickness is almost one centimeter, which, compared to other modern smartphones, looks at least defiant.

But over time, you stop paying attention to the weight and size, and the weighty solidity of the smartphone even starts to be liked. V in this case this is not a drawback, but simply a feature of the device, which is due to the presence of a powerful battery.

Ulefone Power 2 is produced in three colors- black, silver and gold. The body of the device is made of a light metal alloy, resistant to shock and scratches. The main controls (power button and volume switch) are located on the right side under the thumb. The travel of the buttons is firm and precise, making accidental presses almost impossible.

At the bottom of the smartphone there is a microUSB socket, a microphone hole and a speaker. The fingerprint reader is integrated into the multifunction button on the front panel. It can be used not only to unlock, but also to perform some other actions.

There are no comments on the assembly - everything is fine. Ulefone Power 2 looks discreet and stylish, as befits a serious smartphone.

The fingerprint scanner

The front button is an important building block of a smartphone. The developers not only built a fingerprint scanner into it, but also endowed it with navigation functions. One short touch is equivalent to the back button, a long touch brings up the list open programs, and pressing it takes you to the desktop. If you press the button and hold it, the Google search application will start.

You can permanently hide the onscreen buttons and use the front-facing button instead. mechanical button... This will slightly increase the usable screen area, and just more convenient.

As for the fingerprint scanner, it works great. Nearly 100% firing at any angle at 0.15 seconds.

Screen and sound

The Ulefone Power 2 display has bezels that are quite thick by modern standards - about 4 millimeters. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with this, as I think frameless smartphones are a strange whim of a fashion that will soon pass.

Ulefone Power 2 has a high-quality IPS-matrix with good angles review and color rendering. The stock of brightness is enough for comfortable use even outdoors, only if you are not standing in direct sunlight. The oleophobic coating of the screen provides excellent glide and repels dirt and grease from the surface.

I would like to say a special thank you for the adequate brightness levels. Many Chinese manufacturers they like to overestimate this parameter, which makes smartphones impossible to use at night. In Ulefone Power 2, the minimum brightness value allows you to read comfortably even in complete darkness. Additionally, there is an Eye Protection option in the settings, which reduces the blue spectrum of the display.

The sound of the smartphone is of high quality, without obvious distortion, even at extreme levels. The volume level is sufficient for sound system notifications and incoming calls. But the vibration is very weak - you shouldn't rely on it. I liked the playback quality in the headphones. Loud and without obvious dips.

Performance

Although the MT6750T processor can in no way be attributed to top solutions, there are no performance issues. All applications, not to mention the operating system, run smoothly and quickly. I can't even imagine a use case in which Ulefone Power 2 could suddenly slow down. Large volume RAM allows you to run several resource-intensive applications at once and instantly switch between them.

Determining the type of device (phone or smartphone?) Is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to opt for a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly shorter than that of a simple phone.
