The next version of windows after 10.

With the advent of the tenth version of the Windows operating system, many users of previous systems had a rather serious problem, which is whether to switch to a new OS or still work on an outdated one. Reviews for Windows 10 are divided. Some praise the system for its unprecedented performance, others hate it because there are too many simultaneously running and unnecessary background processes and tracking user actions. So who's right?

Windows 10: reviews of the first version

Initially, the first modification of the Technical Preview became available for upgrading the existing systems of the seventh and eighth modifications. Note, it is in the form of updating the existing OS without losing the performance of all installed programs and devices. The Windows 10 update service was launched only with the user's consent and provided that all the latest updates and service packs for the existing system were installed on the computer.

Its icon constantly "hung" in the system tray, giving a suggestion for queuing (at first, this was the only way to download the necessary distribution kit). True, Microsoft specialists left a loophole for all those users who did not want to wait for their turn, having posted the Media Creation Tool utility on the official website, with which it was possible to immediately install a new system.

In this case, the Windows 10 update service (upgrade) worked in such a way that the installer files were downloaded first, and then the installation was performed. But! The most important thing was that all this, unlike previous systems, was produced for free (but only for users of licensed versions of Windows 8 and 7).

In addition, another huge plus is the ability to return to the previous system within thirty days, which has never been possible before. But if the user was not going to (or is not going to) do a rollback, the files of the old system and installation packages can be painlessly removed. And this is about 30 GB. But the removal should be done using the built-in disk cleanup tool, and not manually.

System requirements

The first reviews about Windows 10 looked rather chaotic, although the vast majority of users who tried the system in work said that this OS does not have too high requirements for the hardware.

Indeed, the system needs only a 2-core mid-range processor and 1 GB of RAM for a 32-bit OS and 2 GB for a 64-bit architecture for normal operation. The paradox is that the "seven" on such a configuration can work quite slowly, while Windows 10 (reviews confirm this) looks much faster.

Interface: what's new?

The main elements of the interface have remained unchanged. True, if you look at the Windows 10 Desktop and the Taskbar, you will notice that the developers have replaced the start button, which they tried to get rid of in the eighth version of the system.

Actually, the Start menu itself has undergone quite a lot of changes, since along with the classic look, it contains the controls for the Metro interface, inherited by the top ten from the eighth modification. Apparently, this was done to simplify the work in the tablet mode, which can be switched through the notification section in the system tray. There are also quite a lot of additional functions that you can configure as you wish (for example, fast duplication or screen projection).

Windows 10 "desktop" has another interesting property that many simply do not know about - you can not only expand it, but also make several analogs with different widgets, similar to how it looks on smartphones and tablets.

Finally, the introduction of the improved Cortana assistant, which can not only provide advice, but also perform some custom actions to control your computer, was a real breakthrough. Apple's Siri or a similar Windows 8.1 service is no match. But without a foreign-language interface, Russian-speaking users will not be able to activate it.

There are now two "control panels": a standard one and a section of parameters. Getting to the regular one isn't easy, although you can use the control command from the Run menu. The settings, although sometimes duplicated, but at some points are quite different (for example, uninstalling programs).

Comparison of performance of Windows 7 and Windows 10

As for performance, no matter what anyone says, the “ten” is still a cut above the “seven”. Not to mention specialized tests, which in terms of performance will not tell an ordinary user absolutely nothing, as an indicator one can cite reviews about loading both OSs on the same configuration.

Windows 7, with all startup services disabled, starts with a time of about a minute and a half. But Windows 10 under the same conditions is loaded in time up to 30 seconds. Some, however, argue that starting on a 3.4 GHz Core i5 processor with 8 GB of RAM takes 5 and 6 seconds, respectively. Absolute nonsense! A Dell laptop with 8GB of RAM and a 2-core 2-thread 2nd generation Core i7 processor has exactly the options listed above (verified). But everyone recognizes that Windows 10 comes out of sleep and hibernation mode much faster.

The launch of the programs remained unchanged. Here are just "ten" at the start of the executable file on behalf of the administrator "thinks" a little longer. This is understandable, because there are built-in protection tools, in addition to all already known services like the firewall and TrustedInstaller, the built-in antivirus also works here. And the rights of the so-called super-administrator have been significantly expanded.

Licensing issues

If we talk about how to find out if Windows 10 is licensed, first you need to decide on the method of installing the system. If you used the MCT utility described above, you can be sure that the distribution kit was downloaded from the official Microsoft website.

On the other hand, it is quite easy to determine the license and system activation by using the usual RMB (right-click) menu on the computer icon (which, by the way, is not on the “Desktop”, but is located exclusively in the “Explorer”).

If the system is not activated, after a while a corresponding notification will appear on the screen, and most of the system functions will be blocked. How to get out of this situation? Elementary (albeit illegal)! It is necessary to use the portable utility KMSAuto Net, which is capable of activating any of the known Windows systems, and agreeing to the creation of a task in the Task Scheduler, after which the “reactivation” will be performed in the background without user intervention.

Update

Initially, Microsoft said that Windows 10 is so flawless that it will not need updates, and there are no plans to release them at all. As it is already clear, all this turned out to be a huge fake, because under the influence of even the most primitive viruses, the system began to “fly off”. In general, frankly speaking, the security system is not the strongest aspect of Microsoft operating systems.

Nevertheless, updates come out all the time and do not have those "problems" that appeared when installing some packages in Windows 7 (some of them had to not only be removed to restore the system's performance, but also isolated so that they would not be installed in the future). And if you take into account special updates like the Anniversary Update or the Creators Update (for Windows 10), they can be compared to the service packs that were once released for versions XP and 7.

What is provided for people with disabilities?

Now a few words about what Windows 10 offers for people with disabilities. If earlier there were tools like a screen magnifier, now there are much more of them (and even in stationary versions).

In order to use Windows 10 for people with disabilities, it is enough to simply update the system with a special version of the Anniversary Update. Here you and the conversion of text into voice pronunciation (Text-to-Speech), and assigned keyboard shortcuts to perform a particular operation, and the addition of many recognizable languages, and scanning (identifying) interests in the website navigation mode, and six levels recognition of verbose combinations, and the presence of the so-called voice narrator (Narrator), and much, much more.

Drivers and software

As for drivers and programs, initially no one released anything specifically for Windows 10, because after the upgrade everything worked fine anyway. But over time, some software developers began to focus exclusively on the tenth version, taking into account all its capabilities.

So, for example, games and applications related to multimedia began to require the presence of the DirectX 12 platform in the system, which simply cannot be installed on the "seven" (not to mention XP). Some programs and drivers that were reinstalled on the system might not work, but now this problem does not exist.

Software

Unfortunately, there is no way to highlight the best programs for Windows 10. It all depends on what each user prefers. Nevertheless, we can say with confidence that the tenth version is largely focused on games (for this there is even a means of recording their passage in real time and support for game consoles) and multimedia content processing. But on the whole, the new operating system, despite the tracking, deserves every praise. Well, as for those users who complain about tracking their actions, we can only say one thing: "It is their own fault." All these options could be disabled at the installation stage, although this can be done in a running system. True, you will have to spend a lot of time.

The Windows 10 operating system is the latest build to date, created by Microsoft. We can say with confidence that the developers have invested maximum effort into the creation of the presented version and, as a result, they have got an excellent product. There are practically no errors, bugs or glitches in it. Why is Windows 10 operating system so attractive? Why is it gaining popularity so rapidly among the vast majority of users?

After the unusual experience with the eighth assembly, the developers decided that it was necessary to return to the interface the start menu "Start", which was so beloved by the majority of users. Interestingly, Windows 10 offers something in between the start menu of Windows 7 and 8, which had a regular start and a tiled list of popular programs. If someone does not like this, he can switch to another display option that suits the needs of the user.

Another advantage or innovation is a single graphical interface for Windows 10 OS for all types of devices. Smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop, virtual reality glasses and even monoblocks - on all devices, the system functions the same and looks exactly the same. This means that everywhere there will be the same, the same location of system settings and files. Users who quickly get used to one thing will love it.

Windows 10 system requirements

If you decide to install a new version of the system, but you have doubts about your computer, you can focus on the following parameters:

  • Processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz or more;
  • RAM with a volume of 1 and 2 GB for assemblies x32 and x64 bit, respectively;
  • 16 GB of free hard disk space;
  • Modern graphics card.

We hope that you liked our description of Windows OS in Russian and that you decide to download and install this system on your computer.

When creating Windows 10, Microsoft took the wishes and advice of its users with great seriousness. To do this, we used the Windows Insider Program, where each participant could provide feedback and participate in the process of improving the functions and capabilities of the new operating system.

Windows 10 - finishing version from Microsoft

The appearance in 2015 of the tenth version of Windows has become one of the most striking events in the IT field in recent years. Windows 10 is an operating system for computers and other gadgets, which was naturally developed by Microsoft.

The new series of "Windows" was expected with great desire, since the previous version of Windows 8 pleased few people with its functionality and interface, and a number of users even ranked it among the worst operating systems of Microsoft. As you can see from what has already been said, the release of Windows 10 bypassed number nine. The manufacturer explained this decision by the fact that many programs would recognize it as a system from the Windows 9x generation, which were popular in the 90s of the last century. The first test version of Windows 10 was released on September 30, 2014 and was intended only for corporate customers. The next day, the download of the trial assembly became available to everyone. Within 24 hours after its release, it was installed by 14 million people.

When creating Windows 10, Microsoft took the wishes and advice of its users with great seriousness. To do this, we used the Windows Insider Program, where each participant could provide feedback and participate in the process of improving the functions and capabilities of the new operating system.

Windows 10 differs from previous versions in that it is officially distributed not only from the manufacturer's Internet resources, but also from the computers of the users themselves. This is possible using the network protocol for cooperative file exchange - BitTorrent, the principle of which will help and constantly update Windows 10. Since July 29, 2015, owners of devices of official Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 have been able to update the system to Windows 10. By the date, such a transition is possible for free during the first year.

Windows 10 - what's new and do users like it?
Microsoft, represented by Windows 10, has released a unified operating system for many devices: stationary PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, game consoles. It also uses the familiar Metro interface, but with a number of changes.

One of the main things is that the familiar "Start" button has returned, working with which now resembles the "seven" with its classic interface and at the same time retains the functionality of Metro. However, if the user does not like this, then you can switch to work with the Start button, similar to Windows 8. In the latest builds of Windows 10 (from 10056), you can use the mouse cursor to resize the Start menu, almost expanding it to the whole screen. Let's just say it's quite convenient.

Another new feature in Windows 10 is virtual desktops, which can be created in large numbers. This should increase the speed of working with "heavy" programs - opening them on different desktops, you can switch between them. Is such a function new in the modern world? Probably not. In the same Apple OS X, it has been used for several years, and even longer in Linux. However, it is impossible to set different wallpapers for desktops in order to better recognize them. This fact has caused a lot of negative responses.

The Snap function has been improved in Windows 10, which allows you to keep 4 applications open at once and notify which other applications are working, how to place them, etc. It looks like this: when you move one application to the side, up or down, thumbnails of other programs are visible in the free part of the display.

Changes in Windows 10 also affected the command line, through which you can perform almost any action with the system. In the new version from Microsoft, the command line has added standard features for working with text (select, copy, paste, etc.), an option for transparency, new fonts and hotkeys. The advanced user liked these additions.

On the positive side, we appreciated the versatility of Windows 10, which will replace other mobile operating systems (Windows Phone, Windows RT), "making friends" with all your devices. All your files, saves, documents and other content are stored in the cloud and will always be available from both your computer and your phone. At the same time, Microsoft took into account past mistakes, and on different types of devices the interfaces differ (laptop - classic desktop, tablets - "tiled", etc.). All this makes the control convenient depending on the gadget and its features.

The new Wi-Fi Sense system received controversial reviews. She simply shares the Wi-Fi password with all your friends and acquaintances. How exactly does she recognize who your close friend is? It just counts all contacts from Facebook, Outlook, Skype and similar programs. That is, if a person is your friend, then he does not need to enter a password - the smartphone will automatically connect to your network. The idea itself is great, but often people unfamiliar to us in real life end up in the list of contacts of social networks and chats. What to do in such a situation? It seems that not to add everyone indiscriminately as friends.

It does not ask its owner Windows 10 (Home version) about the need to download the update - the system will download them anyway. Therefore, it is high time for people with limited Internet traffic to switch to unlimited tariffs from their providers.

An unconditional plus
The main success of Windows 10 is its support, which works great with multi-core processors. The new operating system allows each processor core to integrate with the graphics card and perform different tasks. According to many users, the performance in games with DirectX 12 has increased several times. The secret lies in the fact that DirectX 12 works not only with the main graphics card, but also with the integrated one on the motherboard. Real gamers and fans of modern games at high graphics settings liked this innovation.
A big advantage of Windows 10 is performance, with numerous bugs fixed, memory management improved, and the system boots an average of 30% faster than Windows 7 on the same device.

Why is the new Windows 10 criticized?
After literally the first days of using the system, tens of thousands of people have subjected Windows 10 to harsh criticism. The main reason was called spying on its users. The fact is that Microsoft collects, stores and transmits the history of web surfing, passwords from sites, location data, running programs, emails and similar applications, contacts with whom virtual communication takes place. This list can be continued for a long time, but let's say one thing - just a huge amount of information is sent to Microsoft servers, and most of it is really personal in nature and is of little use to the manufacturer for system optimization. Add to this the likelihood of hacking your account on the cloud and all the information will go to the attacker.

Negative reviews regarding Windows 10 were in its "dampness", incompleteness. Many users often have problems with important programs and drivers. For example, when setting a region, the operating system might crash and select the default settings for the United States with their time and date. Another unpleasant moment often appeared: after exiting the "sleep" mode, the display brightness went to the minimum level, and the brightness slider did not react to mouse movement. Rebooting the system helped to cure this error. Therefore, the early versions of the "dozen" are more suitable for those who are not afraid of bugs and errors, like to sit at the computer and climb for hours or days in the settings, registry and other internals. Those who just need a computer like air for work or study only came to the installation of Windows 10 after a few release updates.

Let's sum up and talk about the prospects
Windows 10 has changed a lot from its predecessors. Now it is a personalized operating system that studies its user, his habits, interests, requests, the time he spends in certain applications. The top ten will be improved, modified, changed, introduced and, possibly, removed some functions. But already now Windows 10 is a high-quality platform, and if you optimize it for yourself and your work, you can achieve a lot.

In response to the question of whether there will be Windows 11, 12 and later? Microsoft officials said the Ten is the latest system to be regularly updated. The company does not yet know what the name of the new line, which will replace Windows, will be called, but version 11 should not be expected.

In this article, we'll take a closer look at the Windows 10 servicing model (Windows-as-a-Service), formerly known as Windows Branching. This topic has caused a lot of confusion since the introduction of the Windows as a Service model.

In this article, we will try to clarify and tell you in detail about the updated Windows 10 servicing model and operating system release schedules.

Cumulative and functional updates for Windows 10

System administrators and IT pros need to be familiar with the Windows 10 maintenance schedule. However, there are a few important terms to understand before looking at the current release schedule.

The first step is to clearly understand the difference between Feature Upgrades and Quality Updates.

Feature Upgrades... As the name suggests, feature updates include the latest features, components, and enhancements for Windows 10 devices. Microsoft releases two feature updates a year, in March and September. Because functional updates contain a complete copy of the operating system, they can be used to install the latest version of Windows 10 on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 computers, as well as new devices without an operating system.

Cumulative updates (Quality Updates)... Cumulative updates are similar to the monthly security updates and patches that were used before Windows 10, but with a few significant differences. First, cumulative updates are designed for a specific version of Windows 10. Second, Microsoft plans to release as many cumulative updates as needed for supported versions of Windows 10. These updates are aimed at improving the quality of the operating system.

Windows 10 servicing types

When Microsoft first introduced the Windows 10 Branching Model, enterprises could choose from four available branches. They differed in the availability of functional updates and the length of the support period:

  • Windows Insider Program (This program is primarily intended for consumers and sysadmins who want to test the latest features and improvements before they go public).
  • Current Branch - Availability of the new version of Windows 10 immediately after the public release.
  • Current Branch For Business (CBB), an enterprise-ready version of Windows 10, becomes available approximately 4 months after its public release.
  • Long-Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) is a branch with long-term technical support for ATMs, manufacturing equipment and other critical specialized devices that do not require regular updates.

In Spring 2017, an updated Windows 10 servicing model was introduced. Organizations currently have three servicing options to choose from. Choose the option that best suits your requirements:

  • Windows Insider Program- Most large enterprises maintain a small staff of experts who are testing preliminary versions of future updates for improved adaptation and deployment and to address potential compatibility issues.
  • Semi-Annual Channel (SAC)- Replaces the concepts of Current Branch (CB) and Current Branch for Business (CBB). IT teams in organizations can now use the six-month channel in System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for pilot deployment and testing. The enterprise then decides when to move to wider deployment.
  • Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC)- formerly known as the Long Term Service Branch (LTSB). Suitable for organizations that are deploying Windows 10 for an extended period of time and are looking to limit minor changes. Customers will receive regular security updates for their entire life of Windows 10 - up to 10 years. This option is great for ATMs, manufacturing equipment, and other critical specialized devices.

You may also come across the terms “Semi-Annual Channel (pilot)” and “Semi-Annual Channel (Wide)” in Microsoft articles. They correspond to “Current Branch” and “Current Branch for Business”. The terms Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted) and Semi-Annual Channel are now used instead.

It is important to emphasize one point that can be confusing. After the initial release is published, enterprise-ready updates will not be released. For example, 4 months after the Fall Creators Update was released on October 17, 2017, the Fall Creators Update semi-annual channel will not be released. The initial update is the final update.

This section will focus on the Semi-Annual Channel service type for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education, because the long-term servicing channel does not receive functional updates, and Windows 10 Insider Previews are prior to public releases.

Chart updated on September 13, 2018.

As you can see in the graph above, Microsoft published the first release of Windows 10 for the current branch in July 2015. Version “1507” denotes the release date in year / month format (YYMM). With this version, Microsoft deviated slightly from the plan. It was originally planned to end support for Windows 10 version 1507 on March 26, 2017, but the date has since been pushed back to May 9, 2017. Only the LTSC channel continues to receive updates at the moment.

  • In November 2015, Microsoft released the first functional update (version 1511 or the so-called November Update) for the current branch. For Current Branch for Business, this version became available in March 2016.
  • On August 2, 2016, Microsoft released the Anniversary Update (version 1607), which has been widely deployed across organizations.
  • On April 11, 2017, Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) became available for the current branch. Microsoft released this update to its Current Branch for Business on July 27, 2017, and is therefore rated as ready for organizations.
  • The Fall Creators Update (version 1709) was originally scheduled for September but released on October 17, 2017.
  • The Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) - originally the Spring Creators Update - was scheduled for release on March 14, 2018, but delayed until April 30, 2018 due to discovered issues.
  • The next Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809, codenamed Redstone 5) was originally released on October 2, 2018, but was then withdrawn as soon as significant data loss bugs were discovered. The final version of version 1809 was re-released on November 13, 2018.

Let's mark the most important release and version support dates:

Windows 10 Initial Release 1507 RTM (OS Build: 10240.17236)

  • Current Branch Release Date: 7/29/2015
  • End of Support for Current Branch: 05/09/2017 (Microsoft confirmed April 13, 2017)
  • Not available for the semi-annual channel
  • Current Branch Release Date: 11/10/2015
  • Release Date for Current Branch for Business: 04/08/2016
  • End of support: 10/04/2018 (Microsoft)
  • Release Date for Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted): March-April 2019
  • End of support: September-October 2020 (earlier than two releases before)

* expected in line with Windows 10 extended support announced by Microsoft on September 6, 2018.

Note: Sometimes it can be difficult to find out the version number of the system. To quickly find the version number of Windows 10, type winver into the search bar, press Enter, and you will see a dialog box with information about the current OS version.

When will support end for my version of Windows 10?

Microsoft originally announced that it would support two versions of Current Branch for Business (for example, 1511 and 1607) at the same time. This means that as soon as the N + 2 version is published to the Current Branch for Business, a 60-day period will begin until the end of the life of the N version.

For example, if you are running Current Branch for Business version 1511, then you have 10 months from when current Branch version 1703 was launched (April 2017). you will be able to do this until January 2018. In extreme cases, organizations will be able to use the same version for no more than 16 months, and a constant update cycle will ensure that security measures are met.

However, in practice, the exact deadlines may not be met. Following this policy, support for version 1507 was supposed to end in January 2017, but it has been extended until May 9th.

New simplified release schedule

On April 20, 2017, Microsoft announced that functional updates for Windows 10 will be released twice a year, synchronously with updates to Office 365 ProPlus and Microsoft SCCM - in September and March. The duration of the support period will be 18 months.

However, in November 2017, Michael Niehaus, a former director of product marketing at Microsoft, announced that the software giant would provide businesses and educational institutions currently running Windows 10 version 1511 with an additional six months to fix “critical "And" critical "security vulnerabilities. And in February 2018, Microsoft announced that it would also provide a 6-month End of Support (EoL) extension for Windows 10 versions 1607, 1703, and 1709.

Most of the initially simplified support times have been revised to a new support model: starting September 6, 2018, Microsoft has extended the support window for all currently supported Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions (versions 1607, 1703, 1709, and 1803) to 30 months. In addition, starting in 1809, all Fall updates will also receive extended support to 30 months, while all Spring updates will receive only 18 months.

Skipping updates

To facilitate the deployment of Cumulative Security Updates and Functional Updates, they are delivered cumulatively. includes all previous improvements as well as new changes. This means that after installing the new version, your device will receive the most current version of the operating system.

If you are in doubt as to whether you should install all the updates or should you skip some of them, remember that you can safely skip one or two functional updates. This is made even easier with the new extended support from Microsoft.

However, since new versions are available for a limited period of time, it is very important to install all fixes and features on time. In doing so, it is important to consider the end date of support for a particular version to keep your systems as secure as possible.

Conclusion

It is now clear that the sheer variety of management options and the forced nature of updates are forcing IT departments to quickly adapt to the new update culture that is part of Windows as a Service.

Older versions of Windows 10 are approaching their end of life each month, and organizations must prepare for the latest functional updates. In the future, this can lead to depreciation of old system functions that may be used in some mission-critical applications in the enterprise.

Found a typo? Press Ctrl + Enter

Windows users have always worried about one question: will Microsoft release the Windows 11 operating system or not? Since the official announcement of Windows 10, it has been said that it is the latest version of Windows. Regardless, users are anxiously awaiting the upcoming release of Windows 11; there is a wish list of what I would like to see in it. The new format with several new applications and the absence of software compatibility issues are the most requested wishes of Windows users.

About Windows 11

The tech world is awaiting news about Windows 11 and even the smallest information is causing a stir. Microsoft's problem is that some users are not interested in the update strategy used in Windows 10, but instead want to see more global innovation in the form of a new version of Windows. Microsoft is not ready to announce a new big project, engaged in the development of Windows 10. In the summer, by the way, the release of an update called Redstone is expected.

While many don't mind seeing Windows 11 arrive, Windows 10's launch has been extremely successful. The reason for its success may be Microsoft's focus on developers, who are an important part of any platform. A full-fledged strategy was created that gave users reasons to download updates. In addition to the attractive appearance, many useful features were presented, including with the aim of poaching enterprises to Windows 10.

Microsoft says no to Windows 11: why?

Official news from Microsoft's office says Windows 10 will be the last Windows operating system, Windows 11 won't. Since technical resources mentioned the release of Windows 11 in 2017-2018, Microsoft decided to dispel these rumors and announce that nothing new will be released after Windows 10.

“We're working on Windows 10 right now because Windows 10 is the latest version of Windows,” Microsoft's Jerry Nixon told Ignite.

Windows as a service

Microsoft has adopted the "Latest Windows" strategy. At the press conference, Nixon made a statement in which he said that Microsoft has no plans to release a new Windows after Windows 10, so Windows 10 will be the last version for users. But this does not mean that everything will end there and that there will be no innovations. Microsoft won't release a new version of Windows, but Windows 10 will have regular updates to improve the user experience. Nixon was not the only one to make such statements, Microsoft itself said the same, promising to regularly update Windows 10 instead of releasing a separate new version of Windows. This was said in Chicago at the Microsoft Ignite conference. Microsoft will apply a specific Windows 10 update pattern using the Windows as a service method to serve its users. Microsoft believes this method is more useful in enforcing user wishes.

Steve Kleinhans, a Microsoft spokesman, also confirmed that there are no plans for a new Windows. Creation of a new version takes a lot of time, namely 2-3 years - during this period the product is already becoming obsolete.

"There won't be Windows 11," says Kleinhans. “Every three years, Microsoft would sit down and create a 'new big version of the OS.' Third-party developers did not have access to it and the product that the world wanted three years ago appeared. "

About updating the following Microsoft operating system

After the news that there would be no new Windows, there were several rumors that caught the attention of the tech world. This was information that Microsoft will release something meaningful in the summer of 2016.

It was about the emergence of an operating system update codenamed Redstone. Many experts thought the update would not be as significant, but would bring more support for Windows 10 across devices like the HoloLens. At the time of these rumors, it was not clear how the update would affect Windows 10. Many have wondered what the name Redstone stands for. As it turned out, it is a popular object in Minecraft, used to create new technologies and improve items.

Release date for next Windows update

Microsoft had a surprise in store that the company was not going to share ahead of time. The company has promised to regularly release useful Windows 10 updates to its users. Next in line is the summer Redstone update, which will be the most significant since the release of the final version of Windows 10.

Some technology experts wrote that Microsoft will create a new operating system not under the Windows name, but there is no confirmation of this.

Conclusion

So, you might think that Windows 11 shouldn't wait and would be partly right. Only everything needs to be analyzed wisely and understand that now other people are at the helm, not Ballmer and Bill Gates. I do not exclude the fact that after the departure of Satya Nadella, everything can return to normal. Moreover, all the same, progress does not stand still. When the full-fledged 9th generation of consoles, DirectX 13 and new hardware for PCs are released, for which you may need new or well-modified software, then perhaps Windows 11 will be released, or whatever it will be called. Although, on the other hand, Microsoft wanted to abandon product numbering altogether, as in Steam or Google Chrome, although the product numbering is in fact there, but it is not too explicit and intrusive.

Microsoft wanted to do this even at the release of Windows 8, but the product failed in sales and the system itself was associated with inconvenient crap and without a Start menu, which is why Windows 10 came out, which, thanks to impudent obsession, made great sales and massive updates. Who knows, maybe Microsoft is deliberately avoiding the Windows 11 conversation in order to hide the true truth of the development of the new OS, or maybe it will have to come to terms with the new reality, from which we cannot escape.
