Download update android 4.4 2 kitkat. Which version of Android is the best: first to newest comparison

To begin with, I would like to apologize to our readers for such a long delay in the release of this article. Let me remind you that for the most impatient, we already had a little material from the Google presentation, this article is intended for those who are planning to buy a smartphone or tablet with 4.2 on board and want to know what benefits the new version of Android will get. Also in the future we will refer to this particular article when it comes to 4.2. Now, without further ado, let me turn to the overview itself.

Keyboard

To tell you the truth, I personally got so used to installing a third-party keyboard when testing or buying a new smartphone that lately I did not even pay attention to the innovations in the stock one. I still remember the annoyance that you experience when you first set up the tablet for 4.0, when, in order to enter English characters, you need to go to the settings and activate other languages. Fortunately, in 4.1 this problem was fixed and finally a separate button for switching languages was added. But Google decided not to dwell on these improvements, and in 4.2 the keyboard received another new feature: text input using "swipes". To do this, you need to activate this function in the settings.

I liked the new input method, although its accuracy is sometimes inferior to the original Swype, however, we hope that it will increase over time.

Notification bar

Google (apparently, by popular demand or with an eye on TouchWiz and CyanogenMod) finally decided to add functionality to the notification curtain.

Swiping to the right now opens the switch panel. When you click on most of them, you are taken to the settings (we are talking about Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, charge indicator), in some cases, pressing immediately activates the action (for example, turning on / off the auto-rotate screen). On the right is your Google+ profile picture, clicking on it will open your address book.

Swiping to the left opens the familiar notification panel. Now it adjusts to the number of notifications, and does not fold out to the full height of the screen.

Interestingly, smartphones use a different combination: for example, a swipe with two fingers brings up a panel with switches, and a simple swipe - a notification panel.

New in Gmail

Now you can quickly scale the letter with a two-finger pinch. This function is enabled in the settings. Double tap after scaling resizes the text to fit the screen.

Lock screen widgets

Starting from version 4.2, you can install one of several widgets on the lock screen. By default, Mail, Calendar, Clock and Google+ widgets are available. Third-party developers can also add support for lock screen widgets. At the moment, the developers of HD Widgets and Plume have already taken advantage of this opportunity. If you have a Nexus device, be sure to give HD Widgets a try, in my opinion their lock screen widgets are really cool.

Clock

Google decided to improve this application and add additional functionality to it. When you open it, you see a large clock with the current date. Below are three shortcuts, one of them takes you to the alarm clock, the second allows you to set the time zone, and the third is responsible for switching to night mode and settings.

By the way, you can control the timer and stopwatch after starting directly from the lock screen.

Also, the application has got its own digital widget. Now you finally don't need to think about which third-party widget to install on the home screen.

Sleep mode

Now, when entering sleep mode, you can configure the behavior of the device. For example, so that you don't get bored just watching the tablet charging turned off, Google decided to add several screensavers that turn on in sleep mode. First, you need to choose a time when they will turn on. Then you need to decide on the screensaver itself, there are five templates available: clock, collage, media, frame and colors.

The collage displays your photos as scattered thumbnails. You can choose the folders with the displayed photos yourself. Alternatively, you can select photos from your web storage in Picasa. If you are interested in any of the photos, just click on it to open it in full screen mode.

In the "Media" mode, you can see the latest news from the application of the same name on the screen. Clicking on the news opens its brief announcement, you can immediately go to the application itself.

The bottom line is that when a new user is added, he has his own desktops, games and applications. All his settings are personalized. At the same time, information such as Wi-Fi passwords is available to all users at once. The use of multiple accounts will be in demand, first of all, in families, and will eliminate problems from the category: "Dad, why did you delete my game?" However, it is important to remember that, despite the presence of two accounts, the amount of internal memory is still the same. By the way, about the internal memory: if you logged in from one account and connected the tablet to the computer, then you will only see the files uploaded for this account, for example, screenshots taken from another account will not be visible.

Also in 4.2, it became possible to shoot a 360-degree panorama.

As I wrote in my review "Dr. Web or Paranoid Notes." I became the "lucky owner" of the imposed Android 4.2.2 OS. Which, despite the prohibitions on any updates set in the settings, installed itself on my tablet, while removing the antivirus!

I would like to share with you my impressions of this "updated system."

Frankly, apart from the inconvenience that appeared after a spontaneous update to version 4.2.2, I did not find any advantages.

I want to tell you more about what I didn’t like.
1. Several applications have been added, the purpose of which is not clear to me. These apps cannot be disabled. They constantly work, overloading an already loaded low-power processor. On version 4.2, I simply disabled in the application settings which I do not use. Than facilitated the work of a weak processor.
2. "Installer Prestigio."

The "Prestigio Installer" (backup "Play Market") can not be disabled now ...

This is an analogue - an understudy of the "Play Market" from Prestigio. All applications are in the "Play Market" ie. it is absolutely unnecessary. The application was in version 4.2, but at least it was disabled there. Now this "gift" can only be "stopped", "disabled" can not be and with an enviable frequency next to the clock "pops up" (analogy with the fact that it does not sink) a green icon, offering to install, then, or another application! Sorry for the sarcasm, but how I used to live without such a useful service, I just don't know ...
3. I would especially like to note the "improved keyboard." Now you are printing on a "white sheet."

Now we type the text on the "white sheet"

For clarity, I typed the text in the Twitter application.
Let me explain. Previously, a tweet was typed directly in the app. The peculiarity of "Twitter" is such that a tweet should not contain more than 140 printed characters, then as you type a tweet you can see how many characters are printed. Now there is no such thing. How many characters are printed can be seen only when "removed" the keyboard.

This is how it turns out ...

Count by hand how many letters you typed ...
4. There are problems with copying text. For example, I made screenshots in the "Vkontakte."

Let me explain. In version 4.2. It was enough to select the text and press "copy."

Application "VK" selection of text for copying.

Now such a "trick" is possible only once. If you wanted to copy another post, then you get this "selection"

VK application. An attempt was made to copy another piece of text. It can be eliminated only by rebooting the tablet.

And even though you click on the screen, the text is not highlighted and, accordingly, is not copied. "The casket just opens" - you just need to restart the tablet and you can copy it again. And so how many times you want to copy, so many times and reboot the tablet. Cool!!!
5. Another system update is awaiting.

Another 410 MB of updates ...

410 MB of updates - I'm afraid to install. If it boots by itself, then the tablet will definitely break ...

6. The clock began to stop. may show the same time for several minutes. Until you notice that they have stopped. This "innovation" is eliminated only by rebooting the tablet.
There are a few more "innovations", although they are difficult to describe. Therefore, I will interrupt my monologue.

Let me summarize.
If after the "imposed update" the speed of work improved at least a little, I would stop glitching and slowing down the tablet. It became more convenient to use the tablet. I would not write this review. Alas, the miracle did not happen ... It became even worse than it was ... This is how it is - imposed by Android 4.2.2.

In the first article of the series, we talked about the birth of the Android mobile operating system, as well as its first steps. We settled on version 2.3 of Gingerbread, which has become very popular. Ahead is the heyday of the Google mobile platform. How Android developed during its heyday - read under the cut.

Android 3.0 Honeycomb (2011)

Version 2.3 of Gingerbread has become very popular due to the optimal set of functions and low hardware requirements. The system quickly began to conquer manufacturers and the mobile market. However, after such success, Google for some reason went in a completely different direction. So Android 3.0 Honeycomb was born, which received a beautiful interface. However, first, a little excursion into history.

Matthias Duarte shows webOS interface on Palm smartphones

In 2010, Palm, which became known for its eponymous communicators, develops the webOS platform. At the time, Palm had serious funding problems, so HP bought the company and all of its developments in the same 2010. The strong point of webOS is its beautiful and intuitive interface. It was worked on by none other than Matias Duarte. In 2010, he did not move to HP after the Palm acquisition — he was lured away by Google. Mathias has already worked for the "good corporation" in the development of Android 2.2 and 2.3, but this person fully revealed his potential when creating Android 3.0.

The Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system was created exclusively for tablets in response to Apple's iPad. The third version of Android was released in February 2011 - a year after the presentation of the first generation iPad by Steve Jobs. One year was not enough for a complete redesign and rework, so the update was released incomplete. Because of this, after the release, Google did not publish the source codes of the system.

Using widgets on the desktop

Android 3.0 is an operating system that ran exclusively on tablets. Smartphones couldn't update to it. The Holo local interface was only designed for large 9-11 "screens. The system has been redesigned with a blue color scheme instead of green in previous versions. The main stake was made on the efficient use of the desktop with widgets and icons. Many interface elements have received "glowing" blue tones of animation. Android 3.0 at one time really looked like an OS for some futuristic computer on a spaceship.

Motorola xoom

The first tablet with Android 3.0 Honeycomb was the Motorola Xoom. The specs of this gadget were really powerful at that time: a 10-inch display with a 16: 9 ratio, 1 GB of RAM, a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.

It was in Android 3.0 that a virtual navigation bar with three control buttons appeared. Manufacturers could now produce devices without soft-touch buttons. Also in the third version, a kind of full-fledged multitasking was drawn. In the menu of recent applications, there were full-fledged preview cards of programs. This is Matias Duarte and the team borrowed from webOS. The upper "curtain" moved down - on tablets it was more convenient to call it from there.

Three months after the release of Android 3.0, update 3.1 was released, followed by another - 3.2. Many new features and functions have been added to them, and the developers have also fixed a large number of problems and bugs. For example, support for gamepads and SD cards has been introduced, and widgets have become flexible in terms of size.

Easter egg in Android 3.0

Despite the fact that Android 3.0 did not become a popular version of the system, it set the tone for the further development of the platform.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (2011)

After the tablet failure in version 3.0, Google decided to return to the smartphone direction. In October 2011, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is released. It was this version that established the look and feel and the main functions that have become entrenched in the minds of Android users.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus

The Holo design language from the Android 3.0 tablet migrated to the fourth version, along with on-screen control buttons. All the possibilities of the fresh update were demonstrated by a new smartphone from the proprietary line of Google - Galaxy Nexus. As the name implies, the production was carried out by Samsung. The device at the time of its release was truly breakthrough not only in terms of characteristics, but also in terms of design. The gadget has a curved display and a front panel without buttons. In total, the Galaxy Nexus had only three buttons - two to change the volume and one to turn on / off.

Compared to Honeycomb, the interface has been "combed" to near-perfect appearance. All elements were adapted for small screens. There are advanced widgets and full multitasking with "previews" of applications. From the lock screen, it was now possible to perform additional actions, for example, open the camera application. The notification system was improved - now you could swipe selected reminders, and not just everything. The virtual keyboard has been greatly improved externally and in terms of features. Now misspelled words were highlighted in red. They could be corrected with a couple of taps, or added to the dictionary.

In addition, with the transition to version 4.0 in Android, the main font of the system changed - now Roboto was used instead of the classic Droid. The Android Market has been adapted for the Holo interface and small screens. Interesting new releases and main categories could now be found on the home page.

One of the really innovative features of the fourth version is unlocking by the user's face. Then she worked poorly, but still worked, and this was new at that time.

Typing fixes

The Android Beam service appeared, which allows synchronization between two smartphones or tablets with NFC chips: you could change contacts, music, videos, web pages and many other content.

Later in 2011 and 2012 Google will release minor updates to Android 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 with minor fixes. For a long time, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be very popular with buyers and even manufacturers. This release was really successful.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (2012)

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update announced in July 2012 can be considered minor in terms of the number of major changes, but it once again influenced the further development of the system and strategy of Nexus devices.

ASUS Nexus 7 (2012)

Also Android 4.1 Jelly Bean can be called a full return to tablets. The first device with this system was the Nexus 7, a popular tablet that sold in large numbers, mainly due to its low price. The gadget offered a compact 7-inch screen, a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor with four cores and a lot of memory (1 / 8GB). It's important to note that the Nexus 7 was the original product - Apple hadn't released the compact iPad mini yet. It was in 2012 that the compact tablet boom began, and Apple was forced to respond to this trend.

Google programmers have again tried to make Android look nice and smooth to use (demo above). There are many new animations. All of them were played back at 30 frames per second. Scrolling through texts and lists has also become smoother. But all this could be seen only on powerful gadgets.

The general menus and desktop in Android 4.1 did not differ much from their predecessor - this one was the same Holo interface, but already "licked" to a perfect state. The notification system has undergone a big change: now you could drag the reminder down to expand it and see more information. Notification fonts have become thin. The same thing happened with the entire system font.

Google Now is a voice assistant that appeared in Jelly Bean. The peculiarity of this program was that very convenient voice search and design of your workplace with information cards. They displayed and constantly updated information on weather, traffic jams, news. All this is personalized - tailored for each person.

The standard keyboard received prediction support - it recommended words based on what the user was typing. At the time, SwiftKey and BlackBerry were already offering similar capabilities.

Easter egg in Android 4.1

It was after the release of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in 2012 that the first version of Google Services appeared. They were conceived by Google as a kind of bridge between applications and the system. This "bridge" could be updated separately from the entire system. Google Play Services 1.0 has received all gadgets running Android 2.2 and newer. Thus, Google partially solved the problem of Android fragmentation: old devices could receive fresh APIs and functions from Google Play services to work with all the necessary third-party applications.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (2012)
After the release of version 4.1, there were two major minor updates. The first was Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which was released in November 2012.

Nexus 10 and Nexus 4

The update was marked by two new devices from the Nexus line - the Nexus 4 smartphone and the Nexus 10 tablet. The latter is still the only 10-inch tablet in the Nexus line.

Changes in patch 4.2 include:

  • Slightly updated lock screen and homescreen.
  • New quick settings panel in the upper "curtain".
  • Miracast support for broadcasting content to TV or other gadgets.
  • New design of the clock widget and application.
  • Support for multiple accounts.
  • Support for shooting panoramas in 360 ° format.
  • Daydream screensaver.
  • Many new special features for people with disabilities or low vision.

Also after the release of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean launched the Google Play Edition device program - smartphones and tablets from other manufacturers with pure software from Google. Between the release of versions 4.2 and 4.3, the Google Play app store received a major update. Even then, he looked approximately the same as now.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (2013)
In July 2013, Google announces another minor update for Android - 4.3 Jelly Bean. The update was released along with the updated Nexus 7 tablet (2013). On it, this ruler broke off.

Nexus 7 (2013)

Important changes in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean include:
  • Support for graphics libraries OpenGL ES 3.0.
  • Supports Android Wear smartwatches along with Bluetooth LE.
  • Prediction when dialing a number.
  • Optimization of the use of RAM.

Android 4.4 KitKat (2013)

On Halloween, October 31, 2013, Google is rolling out a major update - Android 4.4 KitKat. It was the first and last version of Android to take the name of an existing product, Nestle's KitKat chocolate bar. Later, Google and the corporation will launch a major advertising campaign to promote Android and KitKat bars.

Nexus 5

Together with Android 4.4 KitKat, a new flagship of the Nexus line was launched - the Nexus 5 smartphone. The smartphone received a high-quality LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of RAM. The smartphone later became a real hit - all thanks to the low price of $ 350.

A big and noticeable improvement in KitKat is the highly optimized memory usage. Therefore, the overall performance of the system has increased dramatically. As a result, only 340 MB of "RAM" was enough for Android to work properly. Manufacturers began to produce more or less high-quality devices with 512 MB. State employees gradually began to “roll over” to KitKat. That is why Android 4.4 still holds the lion's share of all devices running Google's OS. Also, the reduced memory consumption made it possible to run Android on smartwatches and glasses. It was based on Android 4.4 that Android Wear and Google Glass smart glasses were launched.

It was in version 4.4 that the expansion of Emoji emoticons in the Android operating system began - they appeared in the standard keyboard.

In test mode, the ART environment was introduced to run applications. Even then, she worked much faster than the old Dalvik. Later in Android 5.0, the new ART environment will be enabled by default.

The interface has been polished again. The bottom control panel has become transparent, but the buttons remain the same. The same thing happened with the top status bar. The workspace is cleaner and more enjoyable. The application menu was no longer displayed on a black background - most programs used the wallpaper installed on the desktop for the background. Now the color and design of the bottom and top panels depended on the color scheme of the applications. This made the system more cohesive and the interface unified. The sci-fi style with the blue color scheme from Android 3.0 was finally given up and moved to brighter colors in the interface.

For the first time, the Nexus 5 received an exclusive desktop interface. A so-called one was installed in the smartphone, which from a simple search application has grown into a full-fledged desktop environment with its own settings, icons and widgets. The Google Now service itself has been greatly improved - it could be invoked with a swipe gesture from left to right. Later, the shell became available for download to all users.

In a number of standard applications, a "purge" has been done. For example, the standalone SMS messaging app was replaced by Hangouts, the gallery was taken over by Google+ Photos, the video editing app was completely removed, and Google Play Newsstand replaced Google Play Magazines. The standard dialer has once again received a new interface. The Google Drive cloud storage has appeared. Also in Android 4.4, the office suite QuickOffice was preinstalled, the developers of which Google bought in 2012.

Easter egg in Android 4.4

For applications with video or other multimedia content, a full-screen mode has appeared - no more borders at the bottom and top. The main message of the Android 4.4 KitKat update was the slogan "Android for everyone". The operating system of this version has really reached the level of development when it could be used by all users and to perform any tasks. At the same time, the entry point into the Android ecosystem was very low - on the basis of the then fresh version, state employees even came out and are still coming out.

In the next article in the Android Development History series, we'll look at versions that can be attributed to the modern era of Google's mobile OS.

Mobile phones running the Android operating system have become very popular. However, at the very beginning of its journey, this system was a rather modest mobile OS with a small set of functions. Internet giant "Google" regularly released updates, each of which expanded the functionality, while giving the user all the new opportunities. Versions 4.x.x, 5 and 6 are ubiquitous today. Which Android is better? Choose the right OS version based on your phone's performance and personal preference.

Version history Android: what is available to you

Despite the great popularity of Android 4.5 and 6, before them there were a number of versions that made a significant contribution to the development of the system. Let's look at them, analyze the key innovations, and also tell you whether it is worth installing this Android system on your smartphone or tablet.

How it all began

From 2009 to 2010, Google developed and supplemented the very first version of the OS - Android 1.0 Apple Pie. This was the very first stable release. It was in it that the well-known Play Market application store appeared. Later, there was a modification 1.1 called Banana Bread. Show and Hide buttons have been added to the call menu, and a number of issues have been fixed.

Then there were versions 1.5 Cupcake (support for widgets and folders, recording and playback in MPEG-4 and 3GP formats, animation between window switching) and 1.6 Donut. The key innovations of the latter include the emergence of an interface for working with video / photo, multilingual search and other tools.

This version is not currently used on virtually any phone.

Android 2.0 and 2.1 Eclair

The second version included many updates. Users could now choose one of several Google accounts, the ability to quickly access contacts, search by MMS and SMS messages, support for different fonts and screens, and also updated the calendar and graphic architecture.

Also, the new Eclair began to support the Bluetooth 2.1 standard, which allowed users to transfer media files between devices even faster. In the system under number 2.1, minor improvements were made, and also "live wallpapers" were added.

At the moment, this version of the OS is also practically not used. It makes no sense to put it on a modern smartphone, since its functionality is very small compared to the new Android systems.

At the same time, the new update has significantly accelerated the work of all smartphones on Android. The animation has been improved, the launch of applications has been improved, and the Play Market has been updated. Support has been added for high-resolution screens (for example, 4-inch with 720ppi), fields in the browser for downloading files and installing programs in extended memory.

The new Android already worked with OpenGL ES 2.0 and Adobe Flash 10.2. In versions 2.2.1-2.2.3, minor fixes and security improvements have been made. Froyo costs 0.1% of phones. The version is considered obsolete.

"Gingerbread" is the name of the next OS from Google, released in late 2010. Engineers redesigned and improved the design, added support for ultra-high screen resolutions, new sound effects, added support for various sensors such as gyroscopes and barometers. Support for multiple cameras was built in.

Subsequent updates from 2.3.1 to 2.3.7. fixed issues on specific devices. Gingerbread is now installed on 1.3% of android devices. The version is considered old, so there is no need to install it.

The third version was intended for tablet devices. Having decided the inexpediency of developing two separate modifications for tablets and smartphones, the developers simply created a universal OS Android 4.0.

This version has become innovative, as it received a huge number of updates and changes. The developers have significantly improved the interface, multitasking, added various protocols. Now you can take a screenshot. Several fixes were made in builds prior to 4.0.4.

At the time of release, Ice Cream Sandwich had a lot of bugs and bugs. Despite this, many users have installed it. This OS is installed on about 1.3% of phones. The version is outdated, therefore, it is not recommended to install it on your phone (except if your device has very low performance, and the next versions of android are very slow).

At the time of 2012, this was the most popular version of this operating system. Today its share is about 2%. Engineers have updated the interface, virtual keyboard, camera. New languages have been added.

In 4.1.2, performance has been improved and bugs have been fixed. 4.2 updated the camera interface, the kernel of the operating system itself, and also began to support several profiles. The camera now has the ability to make full-fledged panoramas. Also, the user can now place widgets even on the lock screen.

In versions before 4.3.1, various bugs were fixed, support for Bluetooth 4.0, OpenGL ES 3.0 was added. You can install this operating system on low-end devices with low performance. For example, on phones with a single-core processor and up to 1 gigabyte of RAM.

The key advantages of this version include:

  • High-speed performance;
  • Smoothness of the interface;
  • New convenient text input system;
  • Improved built-in browser.

The disadvantages include problems with some applications, with different functions of the Home button, depending on the included program.

If for some reason you do not want or cannot install version 4.1-4.3, then be sure to pay attention to KitKat. In it, the developers paid special attention to the interface and optimization for low-performance devices. The key feature was the changes in the well-known Google voice assistant. Android 4.4 is currently installed on 25.2% of devices. This is the most popular system.

It is great for smartphones with 512 megabytes of RAM or more. The system works smoothly and stably on dual-core and quad-core smartphones or tablets.

If you are lucky enough to buy a good high-performance phone, then be sure to install Lollipop. The developers have made the interface as simple, accessible and understandable as possible. One of the most requested features has been added to the top toolbar - a flashlight. Also, the new version of the OS saves power by sending data packets to the processor.

The system is installed on 22.8% of mobile devices and continues to gain popularity. Update 5.1 is more stable. This version can be installed on any modern smartphone released in 2013-2016. Before attempting to install this OS, check the information if your machine supports it.

This version has a beautiful design, intuitive interface and higher performance. At the moment, it can be called the best version of android. Unfortunately, not all devices support it, so if you have an outdated smartphone, you won't be able to try Marshmallow.

It is installed on 24% of smartphones, while this figure is also growing rapidly. However, there are no significant innovations in it, therefore, if you have version 5.X preinstalled, and at the same time it completely satisfies you in terms of performance, then you may not update. Lollipop will suit your needs perfectly.

The developers made the new system more informative, and also partially redesigned the interface. The multitasking mode has been improved. Now all open applications can be closed with one button. Also, the user can place two applications on the screen at the same time.

Android 4.4 KitKat- this is the latest version of the Google OS, which the developer pursued with the goal of making it available to all gadgets. Taking care of its users, Google has developed a special application that allows you to check how the new version will work on a specific device. New models of this year will have the latest OS version, everyone else can update Android to 4.4 KitKat.
Traditionally, the new version will provide an increase in performance, but the most visible updates have been in the interface. Changed the developer and the color of the design, prompting users to make their own choice. Another change concerned the use of the display. In addition, the updated version has several additional profiles for Bluetooth. In addition, KitKat allows for wireless printing of various documents, and also received a new graphic editor. Along with the release of the next update, qualitatively new ones appeared, presented in all existing genres.

How to update Android to 4.4 on a tablet or phone?

The easiest way is to download Android 4.4 on the developer's website, and then follow the instructions to download and install the OC update.
You can also install files manually using a home PC with fastboot and adb installed and a USB cable to connect these devices to each other. Then you need to do the following:

1. After connecting the tablet to the PC, boot it in bootloader mode.
2. In the command line, write fastboot flash recovery specifying the file name.
3. Reboot the device into a new recovery by entering the adb reboot recovery command.
4. Download the archive file with the latest SuperSU version.
5. Sew the unpacked file via TWRP or Clockworkmod.
6. Reboot the device and use.

In the event that the tablet has an alternative recovery, you can download and directly install the Android 4.4 KitKat update on the tablet.

1. Download it from the Google site.
2. Download the zip file to the tablet via the adb sideload command without unpacking.
3. Reboot the device and use.
When installing the update, do not forget that it does not always end well. In some cases, the new version of the OS may perform worse than the previous one.
