In terms of its technical characteristics, Ulefone Power 2 is a typical mid-range for 2017. 4 GB of RAM is enough for smooth operation of the operating system and any applications in multitasking mode. 64 GB of internal storage will allow many users to do without an additional microSD card.

If the manufacturer did not skimp on a more powerful processor, it would be great. After all, the MT6750T, presented by MediaTek over a year ago, has already become a budget solution. However, he copes with his main duties.

Equipment

The smartphone comes in a flat cardboard box, decorated in black and red colors. The designers did a good job on the packaging. It looks strict, stylish and neat. In such a frame it is not a shame to give a smartphone, and it is also pleasant to take it in your hands.

Ulefone tries to provide all its products with additional accessories. Power 2 was no exception. In addition to the smartphone, cable and charger, the set includes a stylish case, protective glass for the screen and an OTG cable. The case simulates leather, and the device looks completely different in it.

In addition, there is a multifunctional metal ring that attaches to the back of the smartphone and serves as an additional mount when used with one hand. It can also become a support on which the smartphone will stand on the table.

When buying Ulefone Power 2, the user immediately gets everything he needs for comfortable and safe use of his smartphone.

Appearance and assembly

Ulefone Power 2 has a large battery, which is reflected in the appearance. Taking a smartphone in hand, you will immediately feel that 210 grams is serious. The thickness is almost one centimeter, which, compared to other modern smartphones, looks at least defiant.

But over time, you stop paying attention to the weight and size, and the weighty solidity of the smartphone even starts to be liked. In this case, this is not a drawback, but simply a feature of the device, which is due to the presence of a powerful battery.

Ulefone Power 2 is available in three colors - black, silver and gold. The body of the device is made of a light metal alloy, resistant to shock and scratches. The main controls (power button and volume switch) are located on the right side under the thumb. The travel of the buttons is firm and precise, making accidental presses almost impossible.

At the bottom of the smartphone there is a microUSB socket, a microphone hole and a speaker. The fingerprint reader is integrated into the multifunction button on the front panel. It can be used not only to unlock, but also to perform some other actions.

There are no comments on the assembly - everything is fine. Ulefone Power 2 looks discreet and stylish, as befits a serious smartphone.

The fingerprint scanner

The front button is an important building block of a smartphone. The developers not only built a fingerprint scanner into it, but also endowed it with navigation functions. One short touch is equivalent to the action of the Back button, a long touch brings up a list of open programs, and pressing allows you to move to the desktop. If you press the button and hold it, the Google search application will start.

You can permanently hide the on-screen buttons and use the front mechanical button instead. This will slightly increase the usable screen area, and just more convenient.

As for the fingerprint scanner, it works great. Nearly 100% firing at any angle at 0.15 seconds.

Screen and sound

The Ulefone Power 2 display has bezels that are quite thick by modern standards - about 4 millimeters. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with this, as I think frameless smartphones are a strange whim of a fashion that will soon pass.

Ulefone Power 2 has a high-quality IPS-matrix with good viewing angles and color reproduction. The stock of brightness is enough for comfortable use even outdoors, only if you are not standing in direct sunlight. The oleophobic coating of the screen provides excellent glide and repels dirt and grease from the surface.

I would like to say a special thank you for the adequate brightness levels. Many Chinese manufacturers like to overestimate this parameter, which makes smartphones impossible to use at night. In Ulefone Power 2, the minimum brightness value allows you to read comfortably even in complete darkness. Additionally, there is an Eye Protection option in the settings, which reduces the blue spectrum of the display.

The sound of the smartphone is of high quality, without obvious distortion, even at extreme levels. The volume level is sufficient for sounding system notifications and incoming calls. But the vibration is very weak - you shouldn't rely on it. I liked the playback quality in the headphones. Loud and without obvious dips.

Performance

Although the MT6750T processor cannot be classified as a top solution in any way, there are no performance problems. All applications, not to mention the operating system, run smoothly and quickly. I can't even imagine a use case in which Ulefone Power 2 could suddenly slow down. A large amount of RAM allows you to run several resource-intensive applications at once and instantly switch between them.

Last year, Ulefone released a very successful long-lived smartphone Power. We had it on the test and in general we liked it (you can read the review at this link). The model was very successful: Ulefone said that it has sold over a million copies of the Power. For a small company, this is an achievement, a ticket to a happy future. Of course, Ulefone decided to release a sequel to Power, the Power 2 smartphone, to replicate the success. We got acquainted with the device and want to tell you if the company was able to develop all the best that it had a year ago in the new model.

Specifications Ulefone Power 2:

Complete set and design

Ulefone Power 2 comes in a black and red box, inside which you can find the smartphone itself, a needle for ejecting the tray, instructions, a plastic case with a pseudo-leather back (the top and bottom ends, as well as the buttons on the right, it leaves open), protective glass, a metal device for fingertip, red USB cable, OTG wires and powerful charger (18W). I don’t even know if I have ever seen phones that had more different buns in the kit. Like for generosity!

The gadget is available in black, gray and gold colors (the front panel is black, black and white, respectively). At first glance, the design is unremarkable: a metal case, plastic inserts at the top and bottom, a fingerprint scanner under the screen. Everything is like everyone else. But there are a few little things in the design of the device that just need to be mentioned. For example, a slightly concave hump along the contour of the entire back panel. I have a strong feeling that there is no technical need for it, that is, it was made just for beauty. And it looks really interesting, but at the same time it is very harmful to ergonomics. It makes the already not very thin smartphone feel much thicker.

All control buttons (locking, volume control) are located on the right, the place on the end is well chosen, you don't have to reach for them. On the left is a single tray for two nano-SIM cards, instead of one of which you can insert a microSD memory card. There is an LED indicator above the display. The fingerprint scanner located under the screen is a touch-sensitive mechanical button. A touch means "back", a long touch means "last opened applications", a press means "home", a long press opens the Google application. If you are afraid to get confused, you can switch to virtual keys, which you can hide here and get out whenever you like. As a fingerprint scanner, this button works well: not very fast, but almost without glitches. The key itself is sluggish and pressing it on the sides is scary, as if it is about to break - for this reason I switched to virtual buttons.

The Ulefone Power 2 panel has a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels with a 5.5 "diagonal. It is covered with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3, on top of which a film is glued at the factory (not a transport film, but a permanent film). The screen is a typical inexpensive IPS-matrix : coldish color rendition, good white color, rather weak black, wide viewing angles, quite noticeable fading under strong diagonal tilts. The maximum brightness allows you to use the smartphone during the day on the street, it is high enough for this.High and minimum brightness, so it is uncomfortable to use the smartphone in the dark Five-point multi-touch, the glass has an oleophobic coating.

Software

Ulefone Power 2 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Over-the-air updates are supported. I got only one thing: after it, the Chrome browser appeared in the system (before there was only the stock browser "Browser") and stopped crashing 5-6 seconds after each launch of the "Phone" application.

The system has been slightly modified by the manufacturer, and these modifications are proof that Google is not in vain to get all small manufacturers to use pure Android. The company added the Parallel Space application, which allows you to install the same application twice (for example, to sit in VK from two accounts), replaced the standard icons with some kind of horror, and also repainted the Phone application in shades of gray for completely incomprehensible purposes. "SMS / MMS" and "Calculator". Sick bastards.

Well, admire the pre-installed wallpapers. In my opinion, the collection was collected by a goth.

In addition, Ulefone has added many almost useless functions that are almost not translated into Russian into the firmware. You can prevent yourself from hiding the on-screen buttons (you cannot prevent them from appearing, as well as make the button under the screen stop working when they are activated), "improve" the sound from the speakers using BesLoudness, enable a "floating" button with additional functions like Game Mode (from it the button "Back" stops working, that's all) or the player on top of the screen, activate an additional menu opened by swiping from the lower right corner, make it possible to scroll through any menus by waving your hands over the screen, enable various gestures (rejecting a call by flipping the phone, locking and unlocking with a doubletap , launching applications by drawing letters on the switched off phone) and so on.

Camera

Ulefone Power 2 has a 13-megapixel main camera with an aperture of f / 2.2, thanks to interpolation that takes 16-megapixel photos. The built-in camera application has been redesigned, but it does not provide any interesting features. There is a flash; there is only one LED, although the shape of the hole tries to convince the owner that there should be two of them.

The quality of the photo does not cause much delight: there is a lot of noise in the pictures even in very good lighting, there are often shoals with white balance and focusing. In addition, the camera algorithms for some reason strive for artistic quality of pictures, decorating the frame at the moment of photographing (this can be seen in the interface: I shot a gray and dull plan, got a beautiful picture).

There is a function for shooting panoramas, the resolution of the test panorama is about 8 megapixels.

The 5-megapixel front camera of the smartphone has an aperture of f / 2.2. Nothing outstanding. There is a face beautification mode, but for some reason it is only available for the rear camera. You won't be able to use it for selfies. L-logic.

The video is written in [email protected] Problems with white balance are also present here, it often changes for no reason right during the shooting. Digital stabilization works in a strange way: the video "floats", then twitches.

Performance and benchmarks

The hardware base of Ulefone Power 2 is the MediaTek MT6750 chipset, consisting of eight Cortex-A53 cores, made according to the 28 nm process technology. The maximum frequency is 1.5 GHz. Responsible for the graphics Mali-T860. The amount of RAM is 4 GB, the built-in memory is 64 GB. Of this abundance, which looks very unexpected next to a not very powerful processor, 2.7 GB and 53.9 GB are available to the user, respectively. Here's how this bundle shows itself in a smartphone with a Full HD screen:

The numbers say that in games everything should be pretty sad, and that's the way it is. Race Asphalt Extreme lags at both maximum and medium settings, for an acceptable frame rate you have to set the minimum. The situation is similar in the shooter Unkilled, where minimal graphics are devoid of all effects and embellishments. Hungry Shark World cannot boast of good fps either.

Poor performance does not mean poor heat dissipation. After an hour of testing in Asphalt Extreme, the phone was hard to hold in my hands. And this is despite the throttling that is present here, albeit weak. The results of the smartphone in benchmarks begin to fall after about 8-10 minutes and fall by 5-10%.

Discharge when displaying video

Discharge in the game

Discharge in normal use

The capacity of the battery, the main feature of Ulefone Power 2, is 6050 mAh. So it is written in the characteristics. We checked it with a simple Keweisi tester - it turned out to be about 5800 mAh. But it is not the numbers that are more important, but the real autonomy. The smartphone can last two days on a single charge, giving out 6.5 hours of the screen during this time. This is a good result. A full charge during video playback took only 9 hours, and with continuous play, according to our measurement, the smartphone can last about 7-8 hours. Not bad, but if there was an AMOLED matrix here that would justify the dark interface, then the autonomy would be better.

In the initial version of the review, it was written that the result of the test with the Keweisi tester was only 3380 mAh. We got such a value because we used the tester incorrectly - we connected it to a powerful bundled charger, which it does not adequately perceive. We apologize and thank the commenter for helping us fix the error.

Russian 4G LTE networks are supported. GPS and GLONASS work from navigation systems, the quality is not bad. HotKnot support is available.

conclusions

For Power 2 in different stores they ask from $ 170 to $ 200 (for example, in GearBest). The smartphone boasts a rich package, good battery life and interesting control via a button under the screen, but this is where the benefits end. Cameras, hardware and software obviously do not cover the amount that Ulefone is asking for. For this money, the Chinese offer many more powerful devices that are in no way, even in autonomy, inferior to our today's hero. Looking forward to Ulefone Power 3?

Several years ago, a very unusual software package called CyberLink Power2Go appeared on the Internet. What this program is, many users do not know. However, its capabilities can be judged at least by the name of the developer, who became famous for innovations in the field of working with multimedia. But the capabilities of this package are much broader and go far beyond this scope.

CyberLink Power2Go: what is this program?

So what exactly is a package? Judging by the official description, the main purpose of the application package is to work with any type of disc media with declared support from regular CDs to protected media of the Blu-ray standard.

But this is only one direction for performing the operations provided in the CyberLink Power2Go package. What kind of program it is and what its capabilities are, you can find out if you look at the list of applications included in the main package. You can find quite interesting things in it. For example, there is Wave Editor - a full-featured audio editor, a built-in audio and video format converter, an application for creating all kinds of slideshows, a video editor, etc. The most interesting thing is a special option to create a backup copy of the system with burning the corresponding optical media.

CyberLink Power2Go 8: what is this program?

As for the designation CyberLink Power2Go 8, by and large it is the same package, only version 8.0.0.XXXXb. As you can see from the designation, this is a modification in beta testing.

The name speaks for itself: the application can be quite unstable in operation, however, like all beta versions. So, it is worth installing it only for testers and developers, but not for ordinary users.

Key features of the package

This is a first look at the CyberLink Power2Go suite. What kind of program it is is already clear. Let's move on to the main functions and modules.

First of all, it is worth highlighting the possibility of creating discs of a certain direction (audio or video), as well as mixed discs with data. To do this, the program has several modules to choose from, like the way Nero offers it.

When recording, a system with a key length of 128 or 256 bits can be used as an additional tool for data protection. If desired, you can set a password that will be requested for playback.

When working with video, you can use the extraction of audio tracks from video files, then convert them to another format and even make equalization in volume between all tracks (normalization function). Likewise, you can easily create DVD menus, use label printing, insert DVD chapters, trim clips, and automatically split files across multiple discs if they are larger than the media's capacity.

Should I install the program and how can I uninstall it?

If you need CyberLink Power2Go on your computer, it's easy to install. Just before installation, it is advisable to temporarily disable the antivirus and Internet access. In some cases, you may also need to deactivate Windows Firewall and Windows Defender.

Many users complain that during installation the program creates several shortcuts on the "Desktop", and also integrates into the startup menu. Actually, this is not a problem, since the shortcuts can be deleted, and autostart can be disabled in the system configuration (the msconfig command in the Run menu or the startup tab in the Task Manager for Windows 10).

Removing a package is not so simple. At least in the standard section of programs and components, you will have to delete all components of the package one by one, then look for residual files and entries in the system registry. Therefore, it is best to use powerful utilities like iObit Uninstaller or Revo Unistaller, which will perform a complete cleanup without user intervention.

Outcome

In general, the package looks, though "heaped up", but somehow too heavy. And many additional functions will remain unclaimed for most users. Thus, you should only install this software if you really need it. In the simplest case, it is better to use the same Nero Express for recording (it is not so resource-intensive and easier to use).

The Ulefone Power 2 smartphone was announced back in February, but the new product will reach the buyer only not earlier than April. The main feature of this device is a powerful battery with a capacity of as much as 6050 mAh.

The Chinese company Gotron, which owns the Ulefone brand, has clearly addressed the new Power 2 to those who value autonomy in electronics first of all. This year, fast charging support has been added to the excellent battery developed by Sony itself.

Ulefone Power 2 differs from most other "long-playing" smartphones by far from the weakest hardware "stuffing". So, the gadget has as many as 4 Gb of RAM and a built-in 64 Gb storage. That is, quite "in an adult way."

As for the mobile processor used in the Power 2, there is no exact data yet. Released a year ago, its predecessor is based on the MediaTek MT6753 chipset. Now it would be relevant to deliver (there is support for fast charging and 4 Gb of RAM).

It is important to note that Ulefone Power 2 has a removable battery. This means that you can buy a spare battery for it and not carry around a much more bulky Power Bank all the time.

The Power 2 is expected to have a decent camera. Anyway, not worse than last year's Ulefone Power, which used a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor. "Frontalka", most likely, will be "for show".

Ulefone Power 2 is distinguished from other smartphones with a large battery by a large 5.5-inch screen with a FullHD 1080 × 1920 pixels resolution. Most other manufacturers use simpler HD Ready (720 × 1280) matrices in devices of this class.

Initially, the new Ulefone will be available for ordering only in black, but in the future, gold and gray options should appear. The back cover of the device is made of metal.

Power 2 Essential Questions Answered

  • When is Ulefone Power 2 coming out? - Sales will begin in April, and already at the end of March, applications for pre-ordering new items should start.
  • Will this smartphone be officially sold in Russia? - It is unlikely, but everything can change. In any case, it will be presented in domestic online stores, including such large ones as Fotosklad.ru or Mobilfunk.

Other points

Ulefone will release a special Power 2 for the US this year. It will be sold, as usual in the American market, through mobile operators.

For this reason, this modification of the smartphone should lose support for two SIM-cards and in some cases may be tied to the "native" operator. It is not recommended to purchase for use on the territory of Russia and the CIS countries.
