Sandboxie - Run programs in a sandbox or sandbox. An overview of programs for working with virtual sandboxes

Hello Dear friends! In this article, I want to touch on the topic of antivirus protection for a computer or laptop and tell you about, so to speak, my reviews. Yes, friends, in fact, this antivirus is really free, to be honest, when I installed 360 total security and checked its capabilities, I was pleasantly surprised.

It copes with its task of protecting the system very efficiently, lightweight, weighs 100MB, simple and at the same time attractive design, clear settings for a simple user, which is important. But the most interesting thing is that 360 total security has a number of additional functions to optimize the windows system and accelerate the system's performance. Let's take a closer look at everything.

Download 360 total security can download from official site absolutely free. And so, the installation of 360 total security does not take much time and after installation you will see the window of the program itself. Agree, a simple design and nothing superfluous, or any bright colors, is not striking, all the tabs are in their places. Let's take a look at everything point by point.

Item - Full check

After pressing the "Check" button, the system scan began and after scanning the 360 total security anti-virus gave me the result. Click on the Details tab.

See what needs to be fixed to optimize the system, what threats 360 total security has detected, what temporary files will be deleted and click the "Fix" button. I drew attention to the item "Cleaning temporary files", for an anti-virus program to have such a function is not even bad.

In one click, you can immediately clear the temporary cache of the windows installer, as you can see it was 1.3GB, deleting invalid shortcuts in the system, deleting unnecessary system restore points, by the way, you can read the article where I wrote because of what, the cache browser update files, browser update logs, windows search logs, and more.

We have considered the item "Full check", move on to the next one.

Item - Antivirus

In this window of 360 total security you can choose quick scan, full scan or custom scan. Pay attention to the skin shot, I highlighted the default functions with a red rectangle, and what is shown by the arrows, you can install additionally - these are two additional third-party engines, the Avira Antivirus engine and the Bitdefender engine to improve the quality of the 360 total security antivirus.

Let's move on to the next item Acceleration.

Item - Acceleration

At this point, the 360 total security program will show you which startup items can be disabled so that the system boots faster, disabled scheduled tasks, which application services can be disabled, optimize the local network connection, optimize DNS settings for maximum network speed and much more. To increase the loading speed and optimize the system, click the "Optimize" button.

In the "Boot time" tab, a graph will be shown for what period of time your windows system was booted, very convenient. Let's move on to the next point.

Item - Cleaning

This item speaks for itself, click the "Scan" button and it will give you a list of what needs to be cleared to increase the hard disk space, because the more cluttered the hard disk is, the slower your windows system works.

Be sure to clear everything 360 total security has to offer by clicking the Clear Now button.

Item - Tools

In this paragraph, three tools are presented - Vulnerabilities, Sandbox, Cleaning up backups. Click on the Vulnerabilities tab.

In the appeared window of the program you will see three tabs - Updates, List of patches, Parameters. In the first tab "Updates" the program 360 total security will show you what updates need to be installed, click the "Install" button.

The second tab "List of patches", the program will show all installed updates, by clicking on the "Details" tab opposite the updates, you will be transferred to the microsoft site, where each update will be described in detail.

The next tab is "Options". Everything is clear here, make the settings at your discretion and convenience.

The next tool is "Sandbox". This can be said to be a kind of container in a program, where you can run any program in the sandbox and test it for performance, thereby without harming the windows system. Of course, the tool is good, but I think that it is more suitable for those who are engaged in software development. To test any program, click on the round button and select the program for the test.

The next tool is "Clean up system backups". Click the "Scan" button, wait a little while the program scans all system files.

After scanning the system, the 360 total security program gave me the following result, as you can see, I can free up 3.6GB of free space on my hard disk. Click on the "Clear Now" button.

That's all friends. My reviews about free antivirus 360 total security only in the positive direction, I advise you to download it and check your windows system, as well as optimize the system and see the result. Write your feedback in the comments. Good luck to all!!!

A modern free anti-virus suite with a high degree of protection, which can use up to five anti-virus engines, and also has a whole arsenal of useful tools to speed up your PC.

In our minds, almost any Chinese development is firmly associated with the Russian concept of "consumer goods". However, the Chinese themselves have recently begun to radically change the situation, creating for themselves the image of quite competitive players in the international market, producing inexpensive but fairly high-quality products.

The same trend applies to all kinds of Chinese programs, which are getting better and more and more often occupy solid positions in the ratings. It is worth remembering at least one of the most popular mobile browsers UC Browser or HaoZIP archiver (free analogue of WinRAR) and it becomes clear that Chinese developers are quite capable of making excellent software.

Comparison with paid analogue

Unlike most Western developments, 360 Total Security is completely free and does not have any PRO versions or additional modules for which you would have to shell out money! The only additional antivirus variation that exists is Essential, which is simply a stripped-down version of the full suite designed for slower PCs (and also free).

But in terms of functionality, 360 Total Security is quite at the level of professional solutions from the category of full-fledged paid antivirus packages and is quite comparable to the popular Kaspersky Internet Security:

360 Total Security is actively developing, so the absence, for example, of the parental control function is a matter of time (especially since the advisability of adding some features has already been put to a general vote). In the meantime, in the "Tools" section, you can supplement your antivirus protection with a free firewall, browser security module, etc.

What adds a huge plus to our antivirus program is that it can work simultaneously with several engines, which significantly increases the degree of computer security! But more on that later, but for now I suggest installing 360 Total Security.

Installing 360 Total Security

If you downloaded the program from the official site or from us, then by default the installer interface will be Russian. Otherwise, you will need to select "Russian" in the drop-down list in the upper right corner of the window:

In addition to choosing the language, you will also be prompted to accept the license agreement (you should leave the checkmark) and join the antivirus quality improvement program (you can uncheck this checkbox). In the lower right corner you will see the "Settings" button, which will open a small panel where you can specify the path to install 360 Total Security.

If you wish, you can not touch anything, but simply press the "Install" button and wait for the installation to complete. At the end of it, a small presentation of 360 Total Security will appear, which you can skip or watch to the end and click the "Run" button (by the way, if you have a USB flash drive connected to your PC, the antivirus will scan it for viruses and report the work done in a small window):

Full computer scan

The main antivirus window will open in front of us. The interface of the window is simple: the main functional sections are located on the left, and the workspace containing the necessary tools is on the right. In addition, in the upper right corner there are buttons for entering social networks, changing skins and calling the main menu.

By default, 360 Total Security will open in the first section - "Full Scan". It allows you to perform a full scan of your computer for viruses and settings that slow down its work. To start such a scan, which will take about 5 - 10 minutes, just click the "Check" button:

The result of the check will look something like the following:

We will be prompted to immediately correct all found errors with the help of the button of the same name. However, if you are familiar with your computer, I advise you to double-check the scan results manually by clicking the "More info" button. up:

All found problems with antivirus recommendations will be displayed here. However, by unchecking the box, you can exclude what you want to leave. Only then can you click the "Fix" button, and then (upon completion of the fixes) "Finish."

Antivirus module

Next on the list is one of the most interesting sections of 360 Total Security - "Antivirus:

We all know that it is undesirable to install several different antiviruses on one PC. However, 360 Total Security managed to combine three of its own anti-virus engines and two alternative ones at the same time, achieving their conflict-free coexistence!

By default, only the native engines are active: the cloud anti-virus scanner, the system error scanner and the QVMII AI resident module. They are visible in the form of colored icons in the lower right part of the workspace and, in principle, they are quite enough for quick work. However, if you need a higher level of protection, then you can additionally activate the engines of the popular German antivirus Avira and the American BitDefender!

In addition to the choice of engines, the workspace contains buttons for selecting the PC scan mode for viruses (fast, full or selective), as well as quick access to the function of transferring suspicious files for analysis, quarantine and a whitelist, which, by the way, is very convenient to configure.

For the first time, I suggest running a quick or full scan:

All scan results will be sorted into five categories, which will contain not only the viruses found, but also recommendations for eliminating some potential security holes or incorrect PC settings:

  1. System settings.
  2. Common applications.
  3. Running processes.
  4. Objects in startup.
  5. Critical system files.

As in the case of general scanning, I do not advise you to immediately rush to fix everything that 360 Total Security shows us. It is better to look at the details of the report and decide for yourself what should be deleted and what should not. To do this, again, use checkboxes. And so that during repeated scans the antivirus does not sound an alarm for trusted files and settings, add them to the white list using the button on the right:

Acceleration

The third section of 360 Total Security is "Acceleration":

As the name implies, this section contains tools that allow you to speed up your PC by disabling unnecessary functions and processes. The section consists of four tabs, two of which are functional ("Simple acceleration" and "Manual"), and two are informational ("Load time" and "Log").

The "Simple Acceleration" tab contains a list of processes that can or should be disabled on your PC. Check the boxes that you think should be disabled and click the "Optimize" button. The remaining processes that you did not want to disconnect, simply add to the "List of exclusions" using the button on the right.

The "Manual" tab contains a list of all files and services that are "sitting" in startup. With a simple switch, you can disable or enable any item in the list yourself:

As for the informational sections, a graph is drawn in the "Boot time" tab showing the time taken to start Windows. In the "Journal" tab, all the changes we made to the startup are logged.

Cleaning and other Tools

The next section of 360 Total Security - "Cleaning":

It allows you to remove from the system all unnecessary temporary files that take up extra hard disk space and unused plugins. In fact, the function is a simplified analogue of other similar optimizers for PCs and does not need any special troubleshooting.

Much more interesting is the last section of 360 Total Security - "Tools":

There are as many as eight additional functions here:

  1. Vulnerabilities... This tool allows you to scan Windows updates, identify missing ones and install them.
  2. Sandbox... Allows you to run suspicious applications in an isolated environment to avoid affecting system settings. It is most convenient to launch it using the Run in Sandbox 360 context menu item of the executable files.
  3. Cleaning up system backups... Actually, it makes it possible to delete old Windows backups and restore points.
  4. Browser protection... Blocks the settings of the search engine and the start page of the browser you have selected.
  5. Firewall... Invites us to complement GlassWire PC protection.
  6. Router manager... For some models of routers, it allows you to check its security settings and eliminate potential problems.
  7. Compressing a disk... Can be used to archive rarely used data.
  8. Vote for a new instrument... Allows you to vote on VKontakte for the proposed functions that are planned in future versions of the antivirus.

Management via tray and settings

So we practically examined the entire interface of 360 Total Security. It remains to throw a couple of glances at some of the nuances. And the first of these nuances will be the antivirus control, which is easiest to carry out through the icons in the tray.

There are three icons in total: the main program icon with a menu, an icon for connecting removable media and an icon for the activity of background processes (for example, downloading and installing updates). We are mainly interested in the icon of the program itself, or rather its context menu. With this menu we can:

  • temporarily disable antivirus protection;
  • open the main program window;
  • enter settings, quarantine, event log and sandbox;
  • check for updates;
  • enable "quiet" mode, in which we will not receive any notifications (good for games and full-screen applications).

Finally, I would like to say a few words of praise about the "Settings":

You can get into them from the main menu of 360 Total Security or from the context menu of the program icon in the system tray. Everything here (unlike most even paid antiviruses!) Is pretty clear and simple. All settings are divided into 5 sections, which are arranged quite logically. So that even not the most knowledgeable user can easily figure out where to look for, for example, a black list, antivirus settings or language settings.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • complete free of charge;
  • convenient modern interface;
  • support for up to five anti-virus engines;
  • PC optimization and cleaning modules;
  • the presence of a flash drive scanning module;
  • the ability to work in the "sandbox";
  • high level of virus detection.
  • quite a few false positives for unknown files;
  • significant resource consumption when all available anti-virus engines are activated.

conclusions

Oddly enough, but during the operation of the 360 Total Security antivirus, I did not find any significant shortcomings in it! The only thing that annoyed (and sometimes continues to annoy) is the excessive "suspicion" to unfamiliar files. Although, as it was said at the Union: "Better to overdo it than not to do it :)".

Otherwise, everything is predictable: the more engines are simultaneously involved, the more resources are consumed. However, to the credit of the Chinese developers, it should be noted that even with the simultaneously active engines Avira and BitDefender, resource consumption was not much higher than that of another free antivirus that I used before, AVG. And with only basic engines active, even during scanning it did not exceed 89%!

If you need a good antivirus that would not overload the system and provide good protection, then 360 Total Security, I think, is just what you need! With it, your computer can become a really "tough nut to crack" for any viruses. Because one engine is good, but three or five is much better :)

How to use 360 Sandbox 360 sandbox is part of 360 Total Security antivirus software. Suspicious files can be fully quarantined in the 360 sandbox, under conditions that can guarantee the security of our system. In short, a 360 sandbox is a completely isolated virtual space ("sandbox"). Even if there is a virus or Trojan in the running applications, they will not harm the real computer system. How can 360 sandbox be used? Now I will share these methods with you.
1. Open 360 Total Security.
1.1 Open Sandbox. Click Tool box, the sandbox button will appear.

1.2 Click sandbox. A switch will appear in the upper right corner of the interface to activate the sandbox.

1.3 If you disable the sandbox, the program will no longer run in isolated space. When you click this button, a dialog box will appear. Click “OK” and the sandbox mode will be disabled.

1.4 If the sandbox is activated and you want to run a program in it, simply left-click on the interface to find the main application or program shortcut.

1.5 If the sandbox memory is insufficient, you can clear it to save disk space. Be sure to make sure all important files are backed up before clearing the sandbox memory.

2. File List You can use the following 3 tabs to browse files in the sandbox.

3. Running List Here you can stop a program running in the sandbox.

4. My Toys If you suspect that some software is unsafe or may contain a virus or Trojan horse, use the Add auto-sandbox program to deal with it. Proceed as shown below:

5. You can simplify these steps. Operational approach: 360 Sandbox - Advanced Settings - Notification “Add‘ Run in sandbox ’at context menu”. If you right-click on the program on the desktop, you will see the “Run in sandbox” command on the shortcut menu. You can choose sandbox cleanup according to your options.

Then we decided to briefly touch on this topic.

In essence, a sandbox is a sandboxed software environment with strictly limited resources for executing code within this environment (simply speaking, launching programs). In a way, the "sandbox" is a kind of stripped-down, designed to isolate questionable processes for security purposes.

Some good antiviruses and firewalls (albeit, as a rule, in a paid version) use this method without your knowledge, some allow you to manage this functionality (because it still creates unnecessary resource consumption), but there are also programs that allow implement similar functionality.

We will talk about one of them today.

Sandboxie - overview, setup and download

As you understood from the title and subtitle, we will talk about the program Sandboxie.

Unfortunately, it is shareware, but the same free period will help you to get to know this type of tools better, which, perhaps, in the future will push you to a more detailed study, which, for the most part, exists in a free form and provides more opportunities ...

Next, you will be offered to take a short course on working with the program, or rather, they will tell you a little about how it works. Go through all six steps, preferably carefully reading what is written in the instructions provided to you.

Do you want to know and be able to do more yourself?

We offer you training in the following areas: computers, programs, administration, servers, networks, site building, SEO and more. Find out the details now!

In short, in essence, you can run any program within an isolated environment. In the instructions, if you have read it, a metaphor is given well enough on the theme that, in fact, a sandbox is a piece of transparent paper placed between the program and a computer, and deleting the contents of the sandbox is somewhat similar to discarding a used sheet of paper and its contents. with, which is logical, subsequent replacement with a new one.

How to set up and use a sandbox program

Now let's try to figure out how to work with it. To get started, you can try running, say, a browser in a sandbox. To do this, in fact, either use the shortcut that appeared on your desktop, or use the menu items in the main program window: " DefaultBox - Run in Sandbox - Run Web Browser", or, if you want to launch a browser that is not installed in the system as the default browser, then use the item" Run any program"and specify the path to the browser (or program).

After that, in fact, the browser will be launched in the "sandbox" and you will see its processes in the window Sandboxie... From that moment on, everything that happens in, as has been said more than once, in an isolated environment and, for example, a virus that uses the browser cache as an element to penetrate the system, in fact, will not be able to really do anything, because upon completion of work with the isolated environment .. You can clear it by throwing away, as the metaphor said, the written sheet and moving on to a new one (while not touching the integrity of the computer as such).

To clear the contents of the sandbox (if you don't need it), in the main window of the program or in the tray (this is where the clock and other icons are) use the item " DefaultBox - Delete content".

Attention! Will be removed only that part that was written and worked in an isolated environment, that is, for example, the browser itself will not be removed from the computer, but the transferred into it .. mmm .. relatively speaking, a copy of the process, the created cache, the saved data (like downloaded / created files), etc. will be deleted if you do not save them.

To get a deeper understanding of how it works, try running the browser and other software in the sandbox several times, downloading various files and deleting / saving the content upon completion of work with this very sandbox, and then, say, launching the same browser or program directly on the computer. Believe me, you will understand the essence in practice better than it can be explained in words.

By the way, by clicking on the right mouse button on the process in the process list of the window Sandboxie You can control access to various computer resources bypassing the sandbox by selecting " Access to resources".

Roughly speaking, if you want to take a risk and give, for example, the same Google Chrome, direct access to any folder on your computer, then you can do this on the appropriate tab ( File Access - Direct / Full Access) using the " Add".

It is logical that the sandbox is designed not only and not so much for working with the browser and walking on various kinds of dubious sites, but also for launching applications that seem suspicious to you (especially, for example, at work (where often), they run dubious files from mail or flash drives) and / or should not have access to the main resources of the computer and / or leave unnecessary traces there.

By the way, the latter can be a good element for protection, that is, for launching an application, the data of which must be completely isolated and deleted upon completion of work.

Of course, it is not necessary to delete data from the sandbox upon completion and work with some programs only in an isolated environment (progress is remembered and there is a possibility of quick recovery), but whether to do it or not is up to you.

When trying to launch some programs, you may encounter the above problem. Do not be afraid of her, enough, for a start, just click in " OK", and, in the future, open the sandbox settings using the" DefaultBox - Sandbox Settings"and on the" Transferring files"set a slightly larger size for the file transfer option.

We will not talk about other settings now, but if you are interested in them, then you can easily figure them out on your own, since everything is in Russian, it is extremely clear and accessible .. Well, if you have any questions, you can ask them in comments on this post.

On the sim, perhaps, you can move on to the afterword.

Afterword

Oh yes, they almost forgot, of course, that the sandbox consumes an increased amount of machine resources, because it bites off (virtualizes) part of the capacity, which, of course, creates a load that is different from running directly. But, it makes sense that security and / or privacy might be worth it.

By the way, the use of sandboxes, chroot or virtualization, partly refers to the anti-virus security methodology that we are.

On this sim, perhaps, everything. As always, if you have any questions, thoughts, additions and all that stuff, then welcome to the comments on this post.

Today we will get acquainted with interesting software - 360 Total Security antivirus. This product is characterized by a large number of positive reviews, and, according to tests, it surpasses many similar antiviruses.

We can also say that the antivirus is free and will go to operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8 and even Windows 10.

If you decide to use this antivirus, or at least just test it, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with all sorts of characteristics and capabilities of the program, which will be described below.

You can download the antivirus for free, the link is indicated below, or from the official website. After downloading, install it and run it. I want to warn you right away that before installing 360 Total Security, make sure to remove the old antiviruses, because this may cause conflicts with the program and the windows itself.

After launching, the antivirus will offer to check your computer for viruses, as well as optimize the system, clean up temporary files and check Wi-Fi security. If problems are found, everything will be automatically corrected.

Also, all these actions can be performed manually, simply by switching through the tabs on the left: (Full scan, Antivirus, Acceleration, Cleaning, Tools).

After scanning in the "System Optimization" task, a message may appear stating that threats have been found. Don't worry, as the antivirus writes about programs at startup. Unnecessary ones can be disabled.

Description of antivirus functions

Let's now take a look at the 360 Total Security menu. Going to the point "Antivirus", you can choose several options for scanning the system: Fast, Full and Custom. In addition, we see the buttons "Analysis", "Quarantine", "White List", I think there is no need to explain why this is necessary. The scanning process is practically no different from those antiviruses that you used. Another interesting feature of the antivirus is its engines. Below you can see three connected engines and two unused ones. They provide more effective protection and problem remediation.

By default, the engines are used only for scanning. To use them as active protection, you must click on the button "Protection on" top left, press "Setting" and select the protection mode "Custom"... At the very bottom, you can enable the Avira and Bitdefender engines. (By including the engines in active protection, you may need more resources from the computer).

If you want to check a particular file for viruses, you can right-click on it and select "Scan with 360 Total Security".

Among other things, you can install browser extensions: Google Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Yandex Browser. To do this, you need to go to the antivirus settings, then go to the tab "Active protection" and from there install the extension for the browser you are using.

Cleaning and optimization options

Now let's move on to the system optimization and cleaning functions. All the necessary tools for this process are in the "Acceleration" section. In the "Simple acceleration" tab, we see the results after the automatic scan. This item includes startup items, application services, scheduled tasks, critical system services and Internet connection optimization. After automatic scanning, you can click on the button "Optimize" and the program will do all the necessary actions.

The next tab is "Load time". Here you can find information about how fast the system was started. The account is kept every time the computer is turned on.

On the "Manual" tab, you can independently disable any unnecessary programs from startup. Sometimes you can see a recommendation that a service needs to be enabled, this can also be quite useful.

Now let's move on to the next item - "Cleaning"... Here you can clear temporary files as well as unnecessary plugins. This includes browser cache, free disk space cleaning, windows temporary files, and more.

The next item is "Tools"... Here, if you go to the "Clean up system backups" tab, you can free up a lot more hard disk space. Thus, we can delete files from the WinSxS folder that we talked about in this article. Delete backup files, drivers, etc.

Here are some more interesting nuances. This antivirus can check files downloaded from the Internet, as well as block sites infected with viruses. Checks and protects USB drives. Protects you from malicious programs that intercept input, such as passwords, and send information to attackers.

Another interesting feature of 360 Total Security is the change in the theme of the design. This opportunity is not found in almost any antivirus. To change the theme, just click on the T-shirt icon at the top right.

Safety

There are some more interesting features in the toolbox. They are sandbox and vulnerabilities.

Using the sandbox item, we can launch suspicious programs in a separate environment, which will prevent the installation of, for example, unwanted and malicious programs. To run a program in a sandbox, just right-click on it and select Sandbox Run 360.

What can I say about this software? Based on the tests, 360 Total Security Antivirus is a very effective security option for your computer. It does not overload the computer and finds most of all kinds of threats. I have already suffered a lot with these Avastas and Kaspersky. I do not want to say that these are bad antiviruses, each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, but the free version of 360 Total Security still suits me quite well. How to use the antivirus is up to you, but this option, as for me, is quite effective.
