LG G3 became the first smartphone in 2014 to receive a QHD screen (2560x1440 pixels). The smart design and size of the smartphone fits comfortably in the hand, and does not even feel "giant".

Also LG G3 has an excellent camera with laser autofocus. And one of the best branded LG IU 4.0 shells is perhaps the most convenient and functional.

Most importantly, the price of a smartphone has hardly changed with the increase in the dollar rate in Ukraine (7000-8400 UAH). So the LG G3 is also one of the most affordable flagships in the country.

True, for the sake of a high-quality screen, you have to pay off with a fast battery drain.

For me, the LG G3 can be called the best flagship of 2014.

Inexpensive smartphones are also the best. Very inexpensive. The renowned manufacturer set the price for this model, which is usually trying to grab the edge of the market for all sorts of "Hyscreens" and the like. One could suspect of helping Intel, which, perhaps, gave ASUS its mobile Atoms for half the price, but later a version of Zenfone with LTE support appeared - already on a Qualcomm chip. It turns out that they beat the market for their own.

The smartphone turned out to be powerful, fast, its camera shoots well in the dark, competing with the Nokia Lumia 930, and the software shell of the device is thought out in details and is not overloaded with "whistles" - for example, other manufacturers have already adopted the division of the notification area into two tabs.

But on its 6-inch screen it is convenient to work with everything that used to be a tablet. Plus you can call on it. Plus, it catches perfectly, thanks to a pair of antennas at the ends of the case - at each moment of time, the one that is not covered by the hand is used. Plus, you can take it and not charge it in the evening, and it will still last another whole day. Finally, the main plus: a fingerprint scanner on the back. True, it only allows you to unlock the phone or some of the files in it, but you could assign different applications to launch on different fingers. The Chinese have not thought about it, there is still room for improvement.

5. Nokia Lumia 930

Windows Phone is a very unusual operating system. From the first second of acquaintance with it, you understand that it was done by very kind, sensitive people, filled with love for each user. The problem is that all these people do not know anything about each other and act in the first person singular. Each. As if the others did not exist. Bottom line: in the system, many things are not related to each other, and some functions are duplicated.

No, this is really top the best smartphones of 2014, and Nokia Lumia 930 rightfully takes the fifth place in it. Because you quickly and easily get used to all the illogicality of WP (then, by the way, you get used to it just as quickly), something turns in your head - and you find yourself on the same wavelength. And the best material embodiment of this system today is the Lumia 930. Everything is perfectly combined in it: good, modern hardware, excellent - one of the best smartphones in the world - a camera, a bright thin body and a set of proprietary software.

Perhaps Sony was not the first to notice that modern flagship smartphones were too swollen, but it was the first to take the necessary measures and made a top-end device with a small screen (the target audience would say “normal screen”). The idea went, and in the fall the second generation of "Compact" appeared - Xperia Z3 Compact. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a frequency of 2.5 GHz, has 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash, is familiar with the latest versions of communication standards (Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC), is waterproof, but that's all charm - fits in the hand. In addition, the Z3 Compact gets a damn attractive design and some bright color options (my choice is orange).

3. iPhone 6

Only third place. Although the iPhone has changed the number in the name, the changes are reduced to only light "tuning", badly needed to belatedly fit the device into the trend of gigantism. The screen has become larger, but Apple, as always, managed to correctly apply magic (in the world of materialists called design skills) and make it so that the smartphone is in the hand no worse than the previous model. Added to this is a higher screen resolution, a more powerful processor, rounded body shapes and support for Apple Pay. The revolution took place eight years ago, and since then, every new iPhone has become one of the best smartphones in the world.

2. YotaPhone 2

For some reason, everyone prefers to discuss not the YotaPhone 2 itself, but how Russian it is. This, of course, is facilitated by the PR-service Yota Devices, which has gone crazy, persisting with the persistence of Jehovah's Witnesses to persuade everyone to talk about God about the Russian roots of development.

But I love the smartphone itself, whoever made it. Let's face it, this is the first YotaPhone, and what they showed us and even tried to sell for real money a year ago was an engineering model, a prototype. Now the product is fine-tuned and entered the release stage. Its creators solved one very difficult task: to come up with a second screen for a smartphone. Without relying on the community of third-party developers, Yota Devices has created a bunch of features that do not look far-fetched and give the second screen at least some value. You can read from it. On it you can display photos or snapshots of the main screen, and the picture will be saved even after the device is turned off. It can be temporarily made the main screen. It can be used in Yota Energy economical mode (turns a smartphone and a simple phone) when the battery charge is close to zero. After all, widgets can be displayed on it.
