The lightest antivirus software for your computer and laptop. Which antivirus is better - choosing the right protection

Provided with special programs - antivirus software. The rating of the best free antiviruses, amateur and authoritative tests are published with enviable regularity, but it is not so easy to choose a high-quality and functional product.

In addition, freeware programs are not considered to offer the same protection as paid software. In fact, in the segment of free applications, you can find the best solution. The rating of free antiviruses is presented below.

Microsoft's standard antivirus: prevalence and performance

Windows Corporation is the undisputed leader among the providers of operating systems and related software. For 2016, Windows 7 was installed on 55% of all devices, while Linux and OS X 10.11 from Apple have a share of 2% and 7% of users, respectively.

The rating of free antiviruses rarely includes standard solutions, but they are acceptable programs to ensure the required level of security. Windows Defender, which ships with Windows 8 and 10, recognizes and eliminates up to 95% of common threats and about 85% of so-called zero-day attacks, i.e. the latest viruses against which protection algorithms have not yet been developed.

Will Windows Defender be enough for the needs of an ordinary user?

In general, along with the observance of elementary security rules, the use of a modern browser and regular software updates make it possible to successfully apply standard antivirus (reviews, Windows Defender rating confirm this possibility) as the main security solution. But for those who often download pirated content, are an active Internet user or store important data on their hard drive, it is better to take a closer look at other, free, but somewhat more functional programs.

Testing in independent antivirus laboratories

Comparative tests with large numbers of samples are routinely performed by leading antivirus laboratories. Test results allow developers to improve their own products, so participation is usually paid. Basically, the rating of Windows antiviruses (the operating system is the most common, therefore, tests are carried out on it) include paid versions of programs, but if a free solution provides full protection, the software is also evaluated.

In May 2016, AV-Comparatives dynamically tested 19 antivirus programs. The study used the Windows 7 platform (with current third-party software such as Adobe Flash or Java) and 350 malicious test samples. Below is AV-Comparatives' ranking of free antivirus.

Results from practical research

The rating "Antivirus for free" (Windows 10 and other operating systems based on the corporation) was topped by Bitdefender and ThreatTrack Vipre, which did not miss a single threat and worked without false positives. Leadership positions were also taken by Trend Micro and F-Secure with a 100% result of malware detection, but respectively 7th and 15th false positives. Rounding out the top five was Kaspersky Internet Security, which missed 0.3% of threats, but passed the test without false positives.

Free analogues of tested antivirus programs

Bitdefender's free counterpart - Free Edition - is used as an alternative to many paid applications, provides background virus protection and is capable of detecting spyware. ThreatTrack Vipre is not available as a free version. Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + is free only as a trial version (6 months of free use), just like F-Secure (90 days). The analogue of Kaspersky Internet Security is Kaspersky Free Anti-Virus (Free) with a free license, which has somewhat limited capabilities compared to KIS or Total Security, but remains an optimal solution.

Rating of antiviruses for Windows: functionality

"Antivirus for free" (the rating is compiled by many authoritative sources and amateurs) often differs in functionality from the paid versions. However, this does not mean that free software is not capable of protecting your computer from viruses, malware, and spyware.

In general, antivirus programs provide the following features:

    scanning for threats at the user's request;

    real-time system protection in the background;

    scanning the file system while the computer is booting;

    an algorithm for detecting the latest malicious programs, methods of combating which are not yet included in the general version of the application;

    work with cloud storage;

    network traffic control (firewall or Firewall);

    third-party intrusion detection system;

    Recognition of malicious attachments;

    web protection;

    interactive analysis and recognition of spam;

    automatic update.

At the same time, the best free antivirus for Windows 7 (rating by functionality) does not necessarily have to include the entire set of features. The main thing is that the chosen solution meets the requirements and subjective ideas of a particular user.

Ranking leader: ESET Nod32 Smart Security

All of the above features include a comprehensive antivirus with multi-layered protection ESET Nod32 Smart Security. In addition to standard protection against phishing, security of the file system, Internet access, e-mail in stationary mail clients, ESET has some other interesting features. These additional features include:

A serious disadvantage of the antivirus is the lack of protection against software that records user actions (mouse movements, keystrokes, clipboard, snapshots, and sometimes screen video) in the free version.

Free Antivirus Rating: Performance and Benchmarks

Another rating of free antiviruses is based on the results of testing and analysis of program performance. Panda Antivirus Pro and 360 Total Security have a slight effect on system boot speed, while AVG Antivirus Free, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition and ESET NOD32 Smart Security are not far behind. Loading of Avira Free Antivirus significantly slows down (more than three minutes).

Scanning system folders (with equal detection of malware) takes about ten minutes for Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Antivirus Free, Avira Free Antivirus and ESET NOD32 Smart Security. The worst result was shown by Comodo Antivirus - the scan took more than half an hour.

The smallest amount of memory is used by Avast Free Antivirus and Panda Antivirus Pro (only 40 MB), and the real "heavyweights" are Avira Free Antivirus (175 MB), AVG Antivirus Free (130 MB) and 360 Total Security (120 MB). At the same time, Avira uses the processor by only 5%, while the smaller AVG Antivirus Free - by as much as 16%.

Distribution of places according to the results of the rating

In general, free antiviruses for Windows XP (performance rating), as well as for other platforms (Windows 7, 8, 10), are located as follows:

    Panda Antivirus.

    360 Total Security.

    AVG Antivirus Free and Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition.

    Avira Free Antivirus and Comodo Antivirus.

Panda Antivirus Pro at a glance

One of the main advantages - a small load on the system from Panda Antivirus along with providing sufficient protection - is explained by the fact that the program is software has most of the necessary functions, an additional USB scan is available, but there are quite a few significant disadvantages.

For example, antivirus for free (the rating recognized it as the best solution based on test results) does not provide any protection against data interception by third-party programs, requires an active Internet connection to scan the system, and does not provide web protection. In addition, some users find malware in the installation files of the antivirus itself. The unsightly interface is another drawback of Panda Antivirus.

Antivirus apps for Android

If in the market of computer technology Windows occupies a leading position, then for mobile devices the Android operating system is almost a monopolist: 80% of smartphones run on Android. Mobile antiviruses are presented both by analogs of the already mentioned extended versions, and by programs that function exclusively on smartphones.

The AV-Test laboratory tested mobile antiviruses. The rating of free antiviruses for Android is headed by the AhnLab application. The application performs a comprehensive scan of a mobile device, prevents Internet threats, and allows you not to worry about the security of files and other personal data. At the same time, most of the programs presented in this rating are not common in the Russian-speaking segment, so you should rely more on real user reviews - there are no reputable laboratories that would evaluate Russian-speaking applications.

Quite good solutions for the choice of active users are CM Security, Dr.Web Light and free antivirus (reviews, rating below) CM Security does not load the system and efficiently cope with its duties, Dr.Web Light provides powerful protection, but annoys many users with frequent advertisements ... AVG AntiVirus is also a universal solution, in addition, in the Pro version of the application many useful additional functions become available, but such an assembly consumes a large amount of resources, which may cause the device to run slower.

Finally

Antivirus is a necessary program, because the user's needs are far from always able to satisfy the standard options for protecting against viruses and malware (especially on mobile devices). The choice of the optimal solution here largely depends on individual needs and subjective judgments, therefore, you can be guided by various ratings, but you should not completely rely on testing. What is the use of an antivirus that, according to research results, does an excellent job with its tasks, but is elementally inconvenient to use or significantly slows down a laptop or smartphone? Many users need to try several options first, in order to end up choosing the only convenient one.

Greetings to everyone in the next issue! Almost every computer user knows perfectly well that any computer, tablet, laptop or other device needs high-quality protection.

Thousands of ways to infect remote PCs appear on the Internet every day, new viruses and simply dangerous programs are written to steal data or disable a computer. Therefore, it becomes necessary to protect yourself from such misfortunes. Which antivirus is best for your comprehensive personal computer protection? Which antivirus is better than others about this and many other issues, we will try to find out from our article today ...

The average user can protect against 99% of threats, but for this he must have good, comprehensive protection installed. There remains 1%, which can be attributed to planned and special attacks on a specific server or computer - if carried out competently and purposefully, such dangerous actions can bypass almost any ordinary protection and antivirus program.

But, fortunately for us, ordinary citizens are practically not exposed to such a danger, since serious hacking programs and viruses are written for specific purposes and an ordinary PC user is of little interest to really serious organizations.

Therefore, it will be enough just to install a good antivirus and configure its operation specifically for your conditions of using your computer. Believe me, it will be good, reliable and practically guaranteed protection against various Internet problems, viruses and leftist attacks.

Which antivirus is better - how to choose the right protection?

There are several recognized leaders in the antivirus software market, among which you can actually make your choice. But at the same time, of course, it is IMPORTANT for you to remember that only one antivirus must be installed and configured correctly on your PC. If there are 2 or more of them, then the computer will not only slow down mercilessly, but it will not get normal protection either. Well, the programs-defenders, in turn, will conflict with each other and even their joint work will not work. In addition, now many antivirus programs, even at the stage of installation on a PC, look to see if there is another antivirus and offer to remove it.

After you have turned on the firewall, you need to select antivirus software. It will be difficult to advise something really specific here, but it is still possible. The fact of the matter is that every antivirus vendor claims that its software is the best and that it handles problems that competitors cannot overcome.

In fact, most of these programs are about the same. Some of them specialize in protecting against viruses. Some - on the protection of the computer in the network plan. Others - to protect against malicious software and third-party applications that behave suspiciously and send something somewhere without your knowledge. In short, the choice is great and I will list only the most common antivirus programs for 2016. And which antivirus is better, in my opinion, we will now find out with you.

They, in turn, can be divided into free, shareware and paid. Carefully study the selected antivirus for additional features and bonuses that can be purchased - sometimes, there are really interesting offers. But in most cases, your home PC can be protected with at least a simple and free antivirus that will regularly update its databases on viruses and Internet dangers, monitor your computer and prevent suspicious files from running. For most families, this will be more than enough.

Free antivirus software for your home PC

So, I'll start my list of recommendations with free antivirus software. They are accessible, fairly simple and understandable even to an inexperienced user. Such software belongs to the "install and forget" section, so if you don't want to understand the settings and, even more so, pay, then you should pay attention to the following programs:

Avast! Free Antivirus is an extremely popular program nowadays, which is completely free and intended for widespread use on a wide variety of PCs. First of all, I would say that it is good in the sense that it can work completely without additional settings, but for those interested it is able to offer a wide range of different options. Supports various popular functions such as file quarantine, detects viruses and malware, can scan your computer in different ways, has a special game mode, and much more. Requires a small registration 1 time after installation;

Avira Free Antivirus is another popular home antivirus that offers effective results with fewer resources. It can constantly monitor the system or turn on occasionally, checking the entire hard drive for malware. Quite simple, equipped with an update assistant system, can work automatically and prevent the installation of left applications on the PC. Very often I have to hear how users ask me which antivirus is better out of the two listed above. I answer you that both of them have proven themselves satisfactorily at a specific level of protection for personal computers.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a decent program from the official Windows manufacturer. It works easily, does not load the system, has minimal, but necessary functions - it does not let obvious viruses pass, it is regularly updated, it can check the computer on set days or hours, it works almost imperceptibly for the user. A good application that paired with a firewall can protect the computer quite well at the initial and intermediate levels;

Also worth mentioning are such free antiviruses as 360 Total Security, AVG, Comodo, Panda and other programs that have limited, but sufficient basic functionality. However, they do not provide protection of 100% level, moreover, they do not have the so-called "foolproof", but as a small protective addition for a home PC - quite so nothing.

So, it should also be noted that all these antivirus programs presented above you can tell on the official website.

Paid antivirus software - which is the best antivirus?

Paid antivirus programs for PC protection include several of the most popular products. The rest, less common, we will not recommend, since they have almost the same functions as their free counterparts. But the old and well-known paid antivirus software, real dinosaurs of its class, are really good, and if you are concerned about the problem of computer security at a serious level, then I recommend considering the following antivirus products:

Kaspersky is one of the best paid antivirus software. There is also a free version, but the full functionality is available only after an annual subscription. Provides full-fledged, has a lot of functions and capabilities, can be configured as flexibly as possible in general in this anti-virus software. The cost is relatively low, but renewals need to be made annually. There are advantageous packages - when buying a subscription for a year, the second key comes as a gift and similar interesting offers;

Dr.Web, aka Doctor Web, is a good program that provides comprehensive protection for your PC. Like Kaspersky, it is available in various versions, has a trial period, includes all kinds of scanners and monitoring systems. It is promptly updated, has proven itself from the very best side. The subscription is also issued for a year, but the price is already cheaper than for Kaspersky. I wrote about Doctor Web in

In terms of efficiency and richness of settings, it is slightly less than the first antivirus in the list, but also a very, very good option;

ESET NOD32, aka Nod 32- good antivirus with rich settings. Old and popular enough, it can be used for a wide range of tasks. Allows you not only to effectively catch viruses, but also to perform various actions to control your computer and monitor its comprehensive type. Feature - practically does not slow down the computer, it works invisibly and easily. However, in the recent past I had to abandon it because one of the significant drawbacks of this antivirus was the inability to check system files for malware. As a result, my computer was infected with a Trojan that had to be removed thanks to Dr.Web. Although today the developers have probably already taken care of this flaw.

So, summing up today's release - "Which antivirus is better" I can say with confidence that the best, reliable and comprehensive protection of the entire computer are antivirus programs from the "Paid" series. In addition, I note that all of the above anti-virus programs (both paid and free) have been installed by me on many computers. And it is paid antiviruses that, according to statistics, provide comprehensive protection for computers that is much higher than free ones. I would also like to bring to your attention a short video: What antivirus is best to install on your computer?

Thus, you can see that the choice of antivirus software is wide enough and you can easily choose something optimal for your own needs. What programs for protecting your computer do you prefer most of all, dear users?

It goes without saying that in our computerized age, protecting information or entire systems from is imperative. In other words, any computer, in addition to the built-in tools of the system itself, must have at least some more or less functional antivirus. Let's try to consider the lightest antiviruses and, based on the test results, determine what is best suited for providing protection today.

Safety comes first!

As for antivirus software, now you can find not dozens of options, but hundreds. Of course, it will not be possible to consider all of them, especially since in terms of functionality they are completely unequal to each other.

Therefore, we will focus on several of the most famous software products. Perhaps the comparative results will tell someone what is the easiest antivirus for XP or the server version of Windows. Let's make a reservation right away that the same "ekspishka", although it still remains a very popular and demanded system, is nevertheless hopelessly outdated. However, a solution will be proposed for her too.

The lightest antiviruses: the main aspects of testing

Of course, not every person who constantly works with a computer can afford to purchase the most modern configuration with a powerful multi-core processor chip, a large amount of RAM, a modern video card, etc. Therefore, let's see what tests show for the lightest antivirus for a computer with average configuration. Let's take a Pentium 4 processor, 1 GB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive as a basis. I think it will be just right for testing.

As for the main tests, consider the performance of several independent laboratories. Among the checks, we highlight the following:

  • parallel work with resource-intensive applications;
  • threats from unsafe sites;
  • the speed of copying or moving data on the hard disk;
  • work in the background.

Kaspersky Internet Security

So, before us is one of the most famous anti-virus packages of our time. Many may object. Why was it necessary to include a Kaspersky Lab software product in the list? The fact is that, unlike all other anti-virus packages, this program is the least demanding on system resources.

Although the test results on the above configuration are not perfect, they look quite encouraging. This primarily concerns the identification of potential threats when working on the Internet or when installing any software. However, along with this, there are also clearly expressed disadvantages. So, for example, the boot time of the system itself significantly increases, after its start, it takes a long time to connect via a Wi-Fi connection, when downloading files using the same torrent client, the time to save to disk is quite long. This is due to the verification of content in real time. By the way, Kaspersky is the only package for which this time is off scale.

When accessing the hard disk (copying files), a clear slowdown is felt. Not critical, but still there. And when you start the Photoshop package, in general, the system starts to slow down in earnest (the antivirus itself consumes too much RAM). So to say that this is the lightest antivirus for a laptop or a stationary terminal, it is hard to tell. It, in principle, can be used if you do not work with heavy applications in parallel. But in terms of protection, it is in the lead, even despite the increased load on system resources.

ESET Smart Security

Another major player in the antivirus software market is ESET's Smart Security suite. The eighth version of the program is currently available.

In principle, the behavior of this application is somewhat similar to that of Kaspersky. The system boot time has been increased, in addition, the initial check of automatically loaded components takes a long time (this is especially noticeable in Windows XP). On the whole, the protection showed good results even with the Anti-Theft function turned off. When accessing the hard drive, there are no delays, there are no problems with the speed of Internet access either, however, when Skype starts, the application takes a long time to load. However, if you look at the resource usage monitor, you will notice that the load is not as heavy as it might seem at first. It reaches its maximum peaks only when the anti-virus databases are updated and during the initial scan. It is also possible and necessary to use it, but it cannot be called the fastest, although in comparison with Kaspersky it is heaven and earth.

Dr. Web Security Space

Now about another well-known package, which is rightfully considered one of the best means of protecting computer systems.

What do its results show? Firstly, during installation, the program offers to install its own firewall, which in no case should be done, since conflicts with the native Windows firewall may occur and a significant increase in the load on the system. The system boot is fast enough (according to the report, about 60-65 seconds), but in fact, it takes much more time to completely stop accessing the hard disk. In parallel with Photoshop, work is almost impossible, the Wi-Fi network thinks a little longer than usual when connected, but in all other respects, the indicators are quite high.

Now fly in the ointment. As it turned out, the program sometimes spontaneously activates something like a hidden full scan. In this case, the load on the central processor can increase by 50%. However, this is only observed when using the standard default settings. If you disable all unnecessary, you can get quality protection.

Avira Antivirus Pro

Avira makes a pretty good impression. Basically, in terms of its performance, antivirus is somewhere in the middle of the list. Its only problem is launching resource-intensive applications. This is not expressed too strongly with Photoshop, but some with guest (child) operating systems refuse to work (at least when they first start).

In general, it cannot be said that this is the easiest one; nevertheless, it can be used as a reliable protection (especially, hardly anyone will install a virtual machine on weak machines). To summarize it briefly, a good solid middling.

Avast Internet Security

As for this software product, it scored true in almost all indicators, some errors were noticed when identifying potential threats.

But when starting Photoshop or accessing the hard drive, monitoring the load on the system showed an unprecedented result. For example, the consumption of RAM in active mode is only 80-100 MB! The only drawback is the excessive talkativeness of the program. Yes Yes! Precisely talkativeness, since the voice notification mode is enabled in the default settings. However, turning it off will not be difficult.

Microsoft Security Essentials

Finally, the native brainchild of Microsoft. As testing shows, it must also be included in the list "The lightest antiviruses". Since our most common systems are still Windows systems, it is almost ideal for them, because who, if not the creators of this family of operating systems themselves, know what kind of security holes they have. In addition, when using this package, the appearance of conflicts in the firewall is excluded.

For all other indicators, the result can be called satisfactory, except for the excessive load on the system when accessing the hard drive. Sometimes, when installing third-party programs, a false positive may appear, because some of them are trying to make the necessary changes to the system files.

What is the lightest antivirus?

What do the test results say, in which the lightest antiviruses were presented? The best overall performance is demonstrated by Avast. First of all, this is practically no load on the system, even when working with heavy programs. The protection system, of course, is not ideal, but for weak machines or configurations based on Windows XP, I think it is ideal. In addition, technical aspects aside, Avast is the lightest free antivirus out there. But most programs need to either be bought or constantly activated when using even shareware versions.

On the other hand, today there is not a single program that would meet the high security requirements, and moreover, would not load the system. And, of course, other well-known antiviruses like Bitdefender and based on it were not considered here, due to the fact that the antivirus itself is too gluttonous, and its modifications like 360 Security, although they work quite fast, do not provide the proper level of protection, and even often give a false alarm. However, what exactly to use is a purely personal matter.

PCMag has tested all popular solutions in the Free Antivirus category during 2016. This rating allows you to choose the best free antivirus to protect your Windows computer.

Antivirus vendors usually pay to participate in testing because lab reports help improve products. The number of laboratories that include a particular product is primarily indicative of its importance. In any case, two conditions must be met for antivirus testing: the laboratory must consider the product to be sufficiently important, and the developer company must be satisfied with the cost of participation. Labs are not required to test free products, but many vendors include full protection in free solutions by adding advanced features to paid products.

PCMag's own amateur tests

In addition to a thorough analysis of the results of laboratory tests, PCMag performs its own amateur testing of anti-virus products for blocking programs. Each antivirus is faced with a set of different types of malware, after which the product's response to the threat is recorded. Typically, antivirus removes most of the samples at once and detects several more instances of malware when it tries to run it. Based on the test results, the product can receive from 0 to 10 points for blocking, depending on how thoroughly it protects the system from test threats.

The test collection has been in use for months, so the malware blocking test does not measure the ability of antiviruses to detect the latest threats. A separate test attempts to download malware from online sources up to a day old provided by MRG-Effitas. During the testing process, it is noted whether the product has blocked access to the network location, cleaned the malware payload during download, or ignored the threat. Avira Free Antivirus received the highest score in this test, followed by McAfee and Symantec in the final table.

Useful functions

Each antivirus product in the collection scans files on access to prevent potential malware launch, and scans the system on demand or on a specified schedule. Blocking access to malicious links is a great way to stay out of trouble. Many products extend protection to prevent you from visiting fraudulent resources, phishing sites that try to steal your credentials. Some solutions rank search engine results by flagging suspicious and dangerous links.

Behavioral detection is featured in some of the products in the collection. On the one hand, this component can detect malicious programs that are unknown threats. On the other hand, behavioral analysis can lead to false positives for reliable programs.

One simple way to keep your computer as secure as possible is to install security updates for Windows, browsers, and other popular programs. Windows 10 made updates a must for consumers, but a large number of holes remain in popular apps and plugins. Scanning for vulnerabilities in the form of missed updates is a feature often found in commercial antivirus products. However, some free antiviruses offer similar functionality.

Who is not included in the rating

This article only contains information about free antivirus solutions that have received at least a “good” rating in PCMag reviews. Among the products not included in this rating is Windows Defender, which was awarded 2.5 stars. Microsoft participates in tests of all monitored antivirus labs, but only as a baseline defense. If a product cannot exceed the baseline protection level, it is not worth considering.

Avast Free Antivirus 2016 scores high in independent lab tests and in PCMag's own tests, especially in the anti-phishing test. Additional features such as a new password manager and innovative router security check make the product a great choice for free security.

The latest version of AVG AntiVirus Free scores high in tests by independent laboratories, and also performed well in its own amateur tests. AVG retains its Editors' Choice award for PCMag in the Free Antivirus category.

While Panda Free Antivirus does not outperform the best commercial solutions, many paid antivirus solutions are inferior in performance. The product retains PCMag's Editors' Choice title in the Free Antivirus Software category.

Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition (2014) remains invisible on your system until a threat is detected. The tiny main window and automatic mode are perfect for users who value simplicity, efficiency and unobtrusiveness.

ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall 2016 combines powerful antivirus protection from Kaspersky with a high quality firewall. The product is an excellent choice for users who do not want to install a complete solution.

Good day!

I would like to devote today's post to all those who have to work on weak old computers. I know from myself that even solving the simplest tasks can turn into a big loss of time: files open for a long time, video plays with brakes, the computer often freezes ...

Consider the most necessary free software that creates a minimum load on the computer (in relation to similar programs).

The most needed programs for a weak computer

Antivirus

Antivirus itself is a rather gluttonous program. he needs to monitor all the programs that are running on the computer, check each file, look for malicious lines of code. Sometimes, some do not install an antivirus on a weak computer at all. the brakes are getting unbearable ...

A vast

This antivirus shows very good results. You can download it.

Of the advantages I would like to highlight at once:

Quickness of work;

Interface fully translated into Russian;

Lots of settings;

Large anti-virus database;

Low system requirements.

A vira

Most of all, this browser conquers with its non-demanding computer resources. I don't know why, but it works quickly even on very old PCs (on which it is generally possible to install it).

Plus, Yandex has many convenient services that are conveniently embedded in the browser and you can quickly use them: for example, find out the weather or the dollar / euro exchange rate ...

Google Chrome

One of the most popular browsers today. It works quite fast, as long as you don't cover it with various extensions. In terms of resource requirements, it is comparable to the Yandex browser.

By the way, it is convenient to immediately write a search query in the address bar, Google Chrome will find the necessary answers in the google search engine.

Audio player

There is no doubt that on any computer, there must be at least one audio player. Without it, a computer is not a computer!

One of the music players with the minimum system requirements is foobar 2000.

F oobar 2000

Moreover, the program is very functional. Allows you to create a bunch of playlists, search for songs, edit track titles, etc.

Foobar 2000 almost never freezes, as it often happens with WinAmp on weak old computers.

S TP

Download: http://download.chip.eu/ru/STP-MP3-Player_69521.html

I could not help but single out this small program designed mainly for playing MP3 files.

Its main feature: minimalism. Here you will not see any beautiful flickering and running lines and dots, there are no equalizers, etc. But, thanks to this, the program consumes a minimum of computer system resources.

Another feature is also very pleasant: you can switch tunes using hot buttons while in any other Windows program!

Video player

There are dozens of different players for watching movies and videos. Perhaps, only a few combine low requirements + high functionality. Among them I would like to highlight BS Player.
