Telephone cameras rating. Few large pixels are better than many small ones

It is not the first year that social networks like Instagram have been popular in the world: they delight self-esteem, to some extent develop PSV (a sense of self-importance) and help to communicate with friends. But in order to become a popular “Instagrammer” or just take high-quality photos for family archives, it doesn't hurt to get a smartphone with a good camera. After all, it's always nice to admire yourself beautiful!

The five best camera phones of 2016 ZOOM selection

Lg g5

LG G5 () almost blew up the mobile industry exhibition MWC 2016 and left no one indifferent. While competitors are developing modular smartphones (), LG has created a device with a replaceable bottom bezel that helps to replace the battery without removing the back cover. In fact, such a solution is found for the first time in the smartphone market. There are several removable modules to choose from: an additional battery, CAM Plus and a Hi-Fi player.

The LG G5 has a dual main camera, which means that images from two cameras are combined into one to make the photo clearer. One of them received a resolution of 16 MP, a lens with an aperture of f / 1.8, an optical stabilization system and laser autofocus. The second is a wide-angle lens, f / 2.4 aperture and an 8 MP sensor. As for the front camera, its resolution is 8 MP.

The LG CAM Plus module makes the smartphone more comfortable for shooting: it has a shutter button, a zoom wheel and an LED indicator. Moreover, it increases the battery capacity up to 4000mAh.

It is worth noting that a simplified version of the smartphone, the LG G5 SE, is being sold in Russia.

Samsung Galaxy S7

Many experts agreed: the Samsung Galaxy S7 () camera is the perfect example of how a flagship should photograph. Compared to the "big brother", it focuses faster and launches the camera. Due to this, the mode of burst shooting, dynamic shooting and shooting at night has been improved. And if in the previous smartphone the main camera received a resolution of 16 MP, then in the Samsung Galaxy S7 there is only 12 MP. Despite this, the photos are just as good (and even better in the evening).

The smartphone has a Sony IMX260 camera module with an aperture of f / 1.7 and a pixel size of 1.4 microns. Due to the larger pixel size, more light enters the sensor compared to the S6. This is what makes the photo better. In addition, the Galaxy S7 is capable of capturing beautifully blurred backgrounds.

It is worth noting the Dual Pixel function - the Koreans put two photodiodes in each pixel in order to speed up autofocus. Now, not 5-10% of the pixels take part in focusing, but 100%.

Apple iPhone 6s

iPhone () has been a favorite among users who are fond of mobile photography for several years. And it's not just that the smartphone can shoot well and work stably. For his operating system, there are a huge number of image processing applications that are not available on other platforms.

The iPhone's camera has only improved in megapixels. Now it has a resolution of 12 MP, so the pictures are even more detailed.

IOS 9 also introduces a new Live photo feature that lets you bring your shot to life at any time. This feature has already been available on HTC and Windows Phone smartphones. In order for the photo to move, you do not need to install additional software - everything just works by default.

Huawei P9

The company unveiled the smartphone in early April this year in London. The feature of this camera phone is in two main cameras. And unlike the LG G5 cameras, the Huawei P9's secondary camera (http: // website / publication / item / 56022) has a black and white sensor and collects all the light. This increases the dynamic range and sensitivity. And the second module allows you to get an aperture from f / 0.95 to f / 16. This is accomplished programmatically and works better than many competitors.

Both modules received the same 12 MP resolution, f / 2.2 aperture, 27 mm viewing angle, 1.25 micron pixel size. They work as follows: the right module shoots in color, and the left one - in monochrome. One sensor receives more dynamic range information, while the other captures color. Then the data from the two matrices are combined.

Cameras are also needed for more accurate focusing, despite the fact that there is both a laser autofocus and a standard slow contrast one.

Another feature of the second module is the acquisition of frames with an aperture of f / 0.95, though not without the help of software. The result is a frame with a blurred background and we should pay tribute to the Huawei programmers: this time the function works much better than in other devices with software background blur.

Interestingly, the company developed the optics together with the famous German company Leica. So there is a real beast hiding inside the smartphone that meets German standards. Leica has evaluated the image quality in terms of color rendering, white balance, stray light reduction, exposure precision, aperture ratio, sharpness and noise performance.

Nexus 6P

This time, Google has developed a smartphone in conjunction with Huawei. And it should be noted that the output turned out to be a solid and budget camera phone. A 12.3 MP sensor is installed here, and instead of increasing the number of MPs, the Koreans increased their dimensions to 1.55 microns. The Nexus 6P also has a fast camera at f / 2.0 (the average is f / 2.2). So even in low light, more light enters the sensor, so details with less noise are visible in the photo. In addition, it is equipped with laser autofocus and dual color flash.

The front camera received a resolution of 8 MP and an aperture of f / 2.4. There is no autofocus in it, nevertheless, the smartphone "outperformed" its predecessor Nexus 5 in the quality of selfies.

Does the gadget camera have any tricks? Yes, for example:

  • The Nexus 6P shoots slo-mo video at 240fps.
  • The camera app supports the Smartburst function, which lets you hold down the shutter button for burst photos at 30 frames per second.
  • The Nexus 6P is equipped with electronic image stabilization technology that is almost as good as optical image stabilization.

The Google Camera application is used for shooting, and it somewhat limits the photographer's capabilities: you cannot adjust the ISO, correct the exposure, specify the focal length, but you can tap on the object on which you want to focus on the screen. However, the result is photos that are comparable in quality to the Galaxy S7 and LG G5.

Mobile photography is now more and more difficult to distinguish in quality from a picture taken by a SLR camera, especially if these are standard frames, without the use of ultrazoom, fisheye and other specific lenses. In early March, Barcelona hosted the MWC 2017 exhibition, which is dedicated to mobile devices, and the topic of photography is practically not touched upon. In any case, this was the case before, but now that the smartphone has become the most popular photographic technique, we simply cannot ignore the new achievements of the industry. So, today we will look at five new products in the mobile market that can save you the trouble of buying a compact camera. Or maybe even an entry-level DSLR.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs

Sony seems to be tired of the megapixel race and is finally starting to use common sense. The new flagship handset has a 19 megapixel camera instead of the previous 23, and this should very well reflect on the quality of the images. In addition, the module learned super-fast shooting - up to 960 frames per second. When recording a video in a special mode, you can take a few seconds of slow motion. True, all this is possible only at a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels.

Well, in general, such a leap in video shooting capabilities became possible thanks to the new hardware base. Sony Xperia XZ Premium will be the world's first smartphone based on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The central processing unit contains 8 cores, four of which operate at speeds up to 2.5 GHz, and the other four - up to 1.9 GHz. There is also 4 gigabytes of RAM.

The new Sony flagship looks stern, and in the hand it is perceived as a very massive and extremely stylish thing. Display with a diagonal of 5.5 inches has a "dual" resolution: either Full HD (1080 × 1920), or the coveted 4K. Top resolution is available only when watching video; it is not entirely clear why the company went to such half-measures, but it just so happened. The screen has changed: Compared to the Xperia Z5 Premium, the color gamut exceeds the sRGB space by 35%. How much this model will cost in Russia is not yet known, but you can buy it already in May 2017.

For those who can't afford the XZ Premium, Sony will also have a cheaper model, the Xperia XZs. This is an updated version of last year's Xperia XZ. No external differences, just a new camera, exactly the same as the Xperia XZ Premium.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus

Huawei continues to develop smartphones with dual cameras. This year, the flagship handset will be released in two versions at once. The first, the P10, will be relatively compact with a 5.1-inch screen, while the second, the P10 Plus, will be larger due to the 5.5-inch screen. In the first case, the screen resolution will be Full HD (1080 × 1920 pixels), and in the second - Quad HD (1440 × 2560).

Both versions use an 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor and have 4 gigabytes of RAM each. However, if you wish, you can order the P10 Plus with 6 gigabytes of RAM. But the main thing is that in terms of cameras, there are no differences between smartphones.

Leica took part in the development of the new photo module, which last year signed a long-term cooperation agreement with Huawei. So, both new smartphones use dual modules, and the sensor in each of them has a resolution of 12 megapixels. True, one shoots in normal mode, and the other in black and white. In theory, this should give a wider dynamic range and improve the quality of shooting in low light. Past Huawei smartphones (P9, Mate 9 and Honor 8) shot amazingly well, so expectations are very high for the P10 too. The most affordable model will cost 35 thousand rubles, and you can buy it literally within a month.

Lg g6

LG also prefers to use dual cameras, at least in high-end smartphones. The brand new LG G6 also received two "eyes" with a resolution of 13 megapixels. True, the very principle by which the dual camera works in LG mobile phones is slightly different from what Huawei offers. The approach here is rather closer to the one used by Apple. The lenses on the cameras are different, one has a viewing angle of 71 degrees, the other - 125, and switching between them gives a 2x optical zoom. True, the G6 does not have a full-fledged portrait mode, its camera is more likely to come in handy for shooting landscapes - such a wide viewing angle is not yet available to competitors.

Another interesting feature is the non-standard aspect ratio of the display, 18: 9 (or 2: 1) instead of the popular 16: 9. As the company explains, it is more convenient to hold a smartphone with a large diagonal, and the screen in horizontal mode can be divided into two squares, which will refresh the look at the interface of familiar applications.

The company did not use hardware too far - instead of the newest Snapdragon 835, there is last year's Snapdragon 821. And although this processor is not formally the newest, its performance is still sufficient for all tasks with a margin of a couple of years. In Russia LG G6 should appear in April-May, but the approximate retail price is not yet known.

Oppo 5x

But this is not yet a ready-made smartphone, but only a concept that has every chance to enter the market this year. The development of the Chinese company Oppo is notable for the fact that it makes a fivex optical zoom. The camera is located perpendicular to the usual layout - horizontally, and its height is only 5.7 mm, that is, hypothetically, it will fit into any smartphone without any inconvenience.

Luminous flux is reflected in an OIS lens that is offset by 90 degrees. It allows you to make three times the optical zoom. Fivefold is achieved using software image processing obtained from two lenses.

Thanks to this development, the quality of images at maximum zoom should be significantly improved. In addition, the Oppo 5x uses an advanced OIS mechanism to reduce shaking. In what smartphones the novelty will appear, it is not reported, but some sources claim that Oppo will release a smartphone with such a camera on the market in the summer. We will definitely keep you informed.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Well, the real king-background on Android has not yet been officially announced. Samsung promises to reveal all the cards already on March 29, which we will definitely tell you about separately. However, something about the Galaxy S8 is already known. It will be released in two form factors: with a screen diagonal of 5.7 and 6.2 inches. The larger model will be called the Galaxy S8 +. But the camera resolution will remain the same - 12 megapixels. The main news so far has become the ability to shoot HD-video with a frequency of up to 1000 frames per second. And technically, that's more than the Xperia XZ Premium.

The front camera will receive a sensor with a resolution of 8 megapixels, as well as a sensor for scanning the iris of the eye. For Samsung, such a solution is no longer a novelty, the same scanner was also in the infamous Galaxy Note 7. And all this is needed for additional security - it is believed that there are people in the world with matching fingerprints, but the iris is unique in all cases ...

All in all, the Galaxy S8 will be the only smartphone to compete on an equal footing with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in terms of sales and adoption. And surely the Koreans will again find something to surprise, so we will return to the topic of the new flagship Galaxy.

The Internet project "Be Mobile" has prepared a rating of smartphones with a good camera. Chip, processor, memory:

Communications:

Battery: 3600 mAh, support for fast charging, built-in wireless charging

Dimensions, weight: 150.9x72.6x7.7 mm, 157 g

The first place in our rating is occupied by the flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the body of which is made of metal and glass. The device looks very cool. The large 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED screen has a curved edge. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge tests and reviews note the ease of use of such a display.

In technical terms, the device has a maximum performance margin. Heavy games, video - it all works effortlessly. Fast processor, large amount of RAM do their job. Also, the advantages of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge include a slot for two SIM cards, although if you use them, you will not be able to insert a memory card. The slot is combined here. In addition, the smartphone has a long battery life, fast charging support and built-in wireless charging. It features very fast 4G / LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Samsung Pay, and more.

Photos and videos taken from the main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge receive the highest ratings from renowned experts. And this is surprising because the camera resolution is only 12 megapixels. It's all about the processing algorithms.

The main camera uses a higher aperture lens (F1.7), and the larger sensor pixels (1.4 microns) capture much more light, which allows you to consistently get clear and detailed photos even in low light conditions. The smartphone supports Dual Pixel technology: all pixels of the matrix have two photodiodes, and not one each, which allows the sensor to focus just as quickly and clearly. Like the human eye, Dual Pixel technology also delivers fast and flawless autofocusing so that even the sharpest movements can be captured in low light conditions; for the first time, you can capture motion in an animated panorama mode. In addition, there is phase detection autofocus and LED flash.

The main difference from competitors is the increased clarity and brightness of the picture. The Galaxy S7 edge has improved its ability to shoot in the evening and in the dark. There are new scenes and plots, camera settings. Samsung was able to improve the camera, although it seemed impossible to do so.

In addition to taking pictures, the smartphone records excellent video in both FullHD, 2K and 4K resolutions. Also, the camera boasts excellent sound. Front camera 5 megapixels. He also copes with his tasks perfectly.

Dimensions, weight: 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm, 152 g

Another leader among smartphones with an excellent camera is the Samsung Galaxy S7. Unlike the model with the edge index, it has a 5.1-inch screen without beveled edges, albeit with a 2.5 D effect. The finish also uses metal and glass. The device looks great and fits in the hand. The hardware of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is identical to the Galaxy S7 edge. The device is very fast, nimble, with a beautiful Android 6 interface and an update to Android 7.0 Nougat.

The main camera in the Galaxy S7 is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX260 module - this sensor was created specifically for Samsung and is not sold to other manufacturers. The smartphone perfectly shoots in the dark and twilight. Another plus is the improved phase detection autofocus. The result is instant focusing even in difficult conditions, and given the overall speed of the smartphone, when the camera is opened, the gadget is ready to shoot in less than a second. The Galaxy S7 has one of the best cameras on mobile, and it does a great job in almost every scene, including low light. Small artifacts can appear only in night photographs.

Samsung Galaxy S7 can also be used in full-fledged video camera mode. Video recording is possible in resolutions up to Ultra HD, and the maximum frame rate for standard shooting (60 fps) is achieved in Full HD resolution. In slow motion, the speed increases to 240 fps, but the resolution is reduced to HD. Thanks to optical stabilization, videos come out clear and smooth, and if you turn on HDR, then even the bright sun will not interfere with the creation of a video.

The front camera did not disappoint either. With a resolution of 5 megapixels, it allows you to take great selfies. There are various face filters to correct skin tone and texture.

Also, the Samsung Galaxy S7 boasts a long battery life. Under heavy load, the device works for 1.5 days, and with an average load - 3 full days.

3. HTC 10

id = "sub2">

Battery: 3000 mAh, non-removable, support for Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 fast charging

Dimensions, weight: 145.9x71.9x9 mm, 161 g

The third place in our selection of mobile phones with a high-quality camera was taken by HTC 10. The main camera of this device is on a par with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in terms of photo quality.

The smartphone has a camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels, aperture f / 1.8, a BSI sensor with UltraPixel 2 technology, a dot size of 1.55 microns. For comparison, the pixel size in the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge is 1.4 microns. There is optical stabilization, laser focusing and a flash from two LEDs of different tones.

In good light, the HTC 10 produces excellent pictures: gorgeous detail, optimal dynamic range, no serious distortion at the edges of the frame, no noise, the most accurate white balance and the presence of details. It is important to note that the camera in HTC 10 does not embellish reality, the pictures during the day are close to the real picture that you see with your own eyes. In this case, the photos are voluminous and deep. In difficult lighting or artificial light, the HTC 10's camera also takes good photos. They are obtained with good sharpness and depth, while the noise level remains not low.

The front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels, f / 1.8 aperture, autofocus and optical stabilization. The photos are good.

As for the other characteristics of the HTC 10, they are in line with the price of this handset. It uses a high-performance processor, 4 gigabytes of RAM, 32 or 64 GB of built-in flash memory. There is support for all modern wireless interfaces, including LTE Cat.9.

4. Apple iPhone 7 Plus

id = "sub3">

Main camera: two 12 megapixels each: wide-angle (F1.8) and telephoto (F2.8), optical zoom, optical image stabilization, six-element lens, True Tone Quad-LED flash, BSI sensor, autofocus with Focus Pixels technology, video recording in 4K, time lapse, slow motion, video effects

Front-camera:

Operating system: iOS10

Screen: IPS, 5.5 inches, 1080x1920, (401 ppi), 3D Touch support

Chip, processor, memory: 6-core Apple A10 Fusion @ 2.34 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 32/128/256 GB flash memory

Communications:

Battery: 2900 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 158.2x77.9x 7.3 mm, 188 g

The best smartphones also include the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. This device is unusual in many ways. For example, it does not have the usual audio jack, but there is a touch-sensitive Home button and a dual camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels, each with a wide-angle and telephoto lens. The first has ƒ / 1.8 aperture, the second has ƒ / 2.8 aperture. All this is provided by 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom, so the iPhone 7 Plus takes pictures very well, although it loses to the same Galaxy S7 edge.

Special attention should be paid to optical image stabilization, panoramic shooting (up to 63 megapixels), six-element lens and exposure control. Optical zoom up to 2x can be activated with just the push of a button. However, playing with focus will not work. The iPhone 7 Plus does not know how to do this, since here the capabilities of the dual camera are more focused on zoom. But zoom without loss of quality.

In terms of video recording, the iPhone 7 Plus is 720p 30fps, 1080p at 30 or 60fps, and even 4K at 30fps. There is also support for slow-motion video at 1080p at 120fps or 720p at 240fps. The video includes cinematic stabilization, noise reduction, and face and shape detection.

The front camera is called FaceTime HD, and it quietly takes 7MP photos and records 1080p HD video. Has ƒ / 2.2 aperture, BSI sensor and automatic image stabilization. As a result, selfies are of the highest quality possible.

The iPhone 7 Plus is powered by the Apple A10 Fusion processor and 3GB of RAM. The built-in memory depends on the specific model - 32, 128 or 256 GB. The advantages of the smartphone are also water and dust resistance, support for LTE Cat.6, a more capacious battery compared to the iPhone 6s Plus.

5. Huawei P9

id = "sub4">

Main camera:

Front-camera: 8 MP, F2.0

Operating system: Android 6, shell Huawei EMUI 4.1

Screen: IPS LCD, 5.2 inches, 1080x1920 pixels, automatic backlight level control, protective glass

Chip, processor, memory: 8-core Hisilicon Kirin 955 (4 cores 1.8 GHz (Cortex-A53) and 4 cores 2.5 GHz (Cortex-A72), ARM Mali-T880 MP4 graphics, 3/4 GB RAM, 32/64 GB flash memory + slot for microSD memory card, combined with a slot for a second SIM card

Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE, UMTS, HDSPA / HSUPA, LTE, 2 SIM cards like nanoSIM, USB-C (2.0), Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS / GLONASS, NFC

Battery: 3000 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 145x70.9x6.95 mm, 144 g

Both modules have the same 12 Mpix resolution (BSI CMOS Sony IMX286 matrix), F2.2 aperture, 27 mm viewing angle, 1.25 µm pixel size. Each module performs its own tasks. For example, the right module is intended for shooting in color, and the left one is in monochrome. The point is that one module uses a black and white sensor. This is necessary to obtain the maximum amount of light. This provides the sensor with more dynamic range information and greater sensitivity. The second module fixes the color. Then the data from the two matrices are combined. As a result, the quality of the images is significantly improved.

Also, two cameras are needed for more accurate focusing. At the same time, there is a laser autofocus, and a standard contrast one. Among the advantages of the Huawei P9 camera is the acquisition of frames with an aperture of F0.95. In general, the pictures are obtained at almost the same level as the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. As for the front camera, it photographs well. The wide angle is worth noting. Video Huawei P9 records in FullHD resolution up to 60 frames per second. The quality is standard, but the sound is very clear, with details on the right or left.

In addition, the Huawei P9 looks great: the aluminum body and 2.5D protective glass are perceived very well. On the other hand, the device has a very productive hardware, a sufficient amount of RAM and LTE support for all Russian bands.

6. LG G5 SE

id = "sub5">

Main camera: double - 16 megapixels, F1.8 and wide-angle 8 megapixels, F2.4; autofocus, LED flash, 4K video recording

Front-camera: 8 MP, F2.0

Screen: IPS, 5.3 inches, 1440x2560, (554 ppi)

Chip, processor, memory: 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (4 × 1.8 GHz (ARM Cortex-A72) + 4 × 1.4 GHz (ARM Cortex-A53), Adreno 510 graphics, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB flash memory + miroSD slot ( up to 2 TB)

Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE, 3G, 4G / LTE, 2 nanoSIM cards, USB Type C, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, NFC

Battery: 2800 mAh, support for fast charging Quick Charge 3.0

Dimensions, weight: 149 x 74 x 7.7 mm, 157 g

The LG G5 SE is also one of the 12 smartphones with a good camera. Most interestingly, there are three cameras in this model: a 16-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera (viewing angle - 135 degrees) and an 8-megapixel front camera.

The main camera has a focal length of F1.8, autofocus, flash. The wide-angle camera is located next to the main camera on the back. Unlike the dual camera of the iPhone 7 Plus, where the image is analyzed by two sensors at once, the LG G5 SE takes two pictures with two different cameras: wide-angle and main, from which you can choose the best one. In good light, the cameras of the LG G5 SE shoot in the same way as the flagships of Samsung, Apple and Huawei, but at dusk the quality drops, but remains very decent.

Other characteristics of the LG G5 SE are also worth noting. This is a high-quality 5.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2560x1440, 32 GB of internal memory and 3 GB of RAM. There is a slot for memory cards up to 2 TB, you can use two nanoSIM cards. Responsible for the performance is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chip. By default, the smartphone is equipped with the Android 6.0 operating system, which can be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. Battery capacity - 2800 mAh.

7. iPhone 7

id = "sub6">

If you want a smartphone with a good camera, take a look at the iPhone 7. It looks great and works great. The device is made in a waterproof aluminum case. The system-on-a-chip Apple A10 Fusion is responsible for the performance. In terms of performance, the iPhone 7 ranks among the leaders. The amount of RAM - 2 GB, flash memory - 32/128/256 GB. Also, the iPhone received a high-quality LCD-matrix among modern smartphones in terms of brightness and contrast, which, moreover, is finally tuned to the correct color temperature. But the rejection of the standard audio mini-jack is, of course, a controversial and painful point.

The iPhone 7 camera deserves special words. The main camera has a resolution of 12 megapixels. The sensor from Sony, according to official figures, provides 60% faster autofocus and uses 30% less power. It uses six-lens f / 1.8 optics and 50% brighter Tru Tone flash from four LEDs. The resolution of the front camera is 7 megapixels, which made it possible to shoot video in 1080p format.

Battery: 2900 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 146x72x8.1 mm, 161 g

The Xperia XZ is Sony's flagship smartphone this year in terms of photos and videos. This is definitely the most elegant device in the manufacturer's lineup. The device is made in the loop surface design style and implies a complete absence of corners between the front and rear panels and side ends. The profile of the smartphone is rounded, only the lower and upper ends are perfectly flat, as if the device had been cut off from both sides with a laser. The body is made of glass and metal, protected from dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard.

The Xperia XZ has a 23MP camera. She received a laser autofocus, which works in combination with phase focusing and is really lightning fast to aim even in complete darkness. Equivalent focal length (EGF) 24 mm, F2.0, there is electronic stabilization, there is a flash. On the positive side - large picture size, natural color rendition and correct white balance, but the pictures lack sharpness and accuracy in details compared to the flagships of other companies. In terms of picture quality, the Sony flagship is slightly inferior to the Samsung Galaxy S7, Huawei P9 and iPhone 7.

The front camera makes an extremely positive impression. It has a resolution of 13 megapixels and has autofocus. The photos are very high quality. You can easily share these pictures on Instagram.

Another potentially interesting feature of the Xperia XZ is the ability to shoot 4K video. True, it is not entirely clear what to do with this video then, although the quality is quite good.

9.Huawei Honor 8

id = "sub8">

Main camera: two 12 Mpix modules, F2.2, pixel size - 1.25 µm, dual LED flash (works as a flashlight), laser focusing

Front-camera: 8 MP, F2.0

Operating system: Android 6.0, shell Huawei EMUI 4.1

Screen: IPS, 5.2 inches, 1080x1920 pixels, automatic backlight adjustment, protective glass

Chip, processor, memory: 8-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 2.3 GHz (4 × 2.3 GHz (ARM Cortex-A72) + 4 × 1.8 GHz (ARM Cortex-A53)), ARM Mali-T880 MP4 graphics, 4 GB RAM, 32 / 64 GB of flash memory + slot for a microSD memory card, combined with a slot for a second SIM card

Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE, UMTS, HDSPA / HSUPA, LTE, 2 nanoSIM cards, USB Type C (2.0), Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, NFC, Infrared port

Battery: 3000 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 145.5x71x7.5 mm, 153 g

The Huawei Honor 8 uses a dual camera. Resolution of images - 12 Mpix. One camera captures the colors of the captured image, and the second one reads monochrome information. The resulting data is then programmatically combined and written to the resulting files. The lenses of the main cameras have an equivalent focal length of 27 mm and a maximum aperture of f / 2.2. Paired with the main camera, there is a dual LED flash capable of illuminating the subject in both a pulsed and continuous glow mode. The front camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor and a fixed focus lens (equivalent focal length 26 mm and aperture f / 2.4).

The resulting photos look good. There are practically no dark undetailed areas on them, or light ones without information. Colors and white balance are extremely accurate. Focusing speed is fast. In poor lighting conditions, blur appears. But in general, the picture is of adequate quality.

The Honor 8 camera can shoot video up to a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 30 or 60 fps with stereo sound. There is also the possibility of slow-motion slo-mo recording in 720p resolution at 120 frames per second. For video shooting, you can turn on the stabilization function, but its work when shooting on the go is barely noticeable. The camera copes with video recording on the whole average: the image is friable and not always sharp, although it is light and without noticeable artifacts. The sound during video recording is recorded quite well, the noise reduction system copes well with the noise of the wind.

Front camera 8 megapixels with f / 2.4 aperture. There is no autofocus. You can record videos in resolutions up to 720p. The camera performs its function well.

10. Meizu Pro 6

id = "sub9">

Main camera: 21 MP, F2.2, 6 lenses, laser and phase detection autofocus, circular LED flash (10 LEDs), 4K video recording

Front-camera: 5 MP, F2.0

Operating system: Android 6.0, shell Flyme 6.1

Screen: Super AMOLED, 5.2 inches, 1080x1920 pixels (423 ppi), automatic adjustment of the backlight level, 2.5D protective glass, recognition of the pressure on the screen (3D Press)

Chip, processor, memory: 10-core MediaTek Helio X25 (4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.4 GHz + 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 2 GHz + 2 Cortex-A72 cores at 2.5 GHz), Mali T880 4MP graphics, 4 GB RAM, 32/64 GB flash memory

Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE, UMTS, HDSPA / HSUPA, 4G without LTE800 support, 2 nanoSIM type SIM cards, USB Type C (3.1), Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS / GLONASS

Battery: 2560 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 147.7x70.8x7.2 mm, 160 g

Mobile photographers can also pay attention to the Meizu Pro 6 smartphone. On the front side, it is a complete copy of the Apple iPhone 7, the only difference is that in the Pro 6 the button under the screen is not round, but oval. The back is made of aluminum with plastic inserts, just like the iPhone 7. The Super AMOLED smartphone has a 5.2-inch screen. The picture is high-quality and lively.

Responsible for performance is a powerful MediaTek Helio X25 chip and 4 GB of RAM. The device runs on the operating system Google Android version 6.0. Since Meizu uses the proprietary Flyme shell (in this case, version 5.2), nothing remains of the “six”. The interface is fast.

There are two cameras in the smartphone. The main one received a resolution of 21.16 megapixels (6 lenses, aperture F2.2, Sony IMX230 with an area of 1 / 2.4 with a pixel size of 1.12 nm). The flash has two colors: cool and warm. There are laser and phase focusing. Unfortunately, there is no optical stabilization. If you do not compare the Meizu camera with other devices of about the same price category, then this is an excellent module. Always fast and accurate focusing, accurate white balance, wide dynamic range and wide angle of view, minimal noise even in low light conditions.

The device records video in the maximum resolution of 3840x2160 pixels at 30 frames per second. The quality is good, but the main drawback is the narrow viewing angle.

Front camera 5 Mix (F2.0). The quality of the pictures obtained from it is enough to post them on VKontakte, Facebook, Instagram and other social networks.

11. ASUS Zenfone 5

id = "sub10">

Main camera: 16 MP, F2.0, phase and laser autofocus, electronic stabilization, flash, video recording in 4K

Front-camera: 8 MP, F2.4

Screen: IPS, 5.5 inches, 1080 x 1920 (401 ppi), Corning Gorilla Glass, with 2.5D effect

Chip, processor, memory: 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (2 GHz), Adreno 506 graphics, 4 GB RAM, 32/64 GB flash memory + miroSD slot (up to 256 GB) combined with a SIM card slot

Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE, UMTS, HDSPA / HSUPA, LTE, 2 SIM cards - one nanoSIM, the second - microSIM, USB-C (3.1), Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, NFC

Battery: 3000 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 152.59x77.38x7.69 mm, 155 g

Asus Zenfone 5 took its place in the ranking of the best smartphones. The design of this smartphone is kept in a fashionable style today. Both sides are almost entirely covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass panels. The ends are made of metal.

The main camera of the smartphone is built on the basis of 16 megapixel Sony IMX298 matrix. Maximum aperture f / 2.0. The lens is covered with sapphire glass, so you can not be afraid to scratch the camera when placing your smartphone on the table. Thanks to the laser module, the camera is able to focus very quickly, the manufacturer claims as much as 0.03 seconds. The ZenFone 5 has decent picture quality. An HDR button is placed on the screen, which allows you to quickly enable / disable this mode, which often allows you to make photos more effective with a large difference in brightness.

Another important feature of the camera is the optical 4-axis gimbal to compensate for shake. But when shooting video, optical stabilization is no longer used. Instead, the so-called electronic is used - the algorithm detects the presence of jitter and compensates for it along three axes. It's also worth noting that the ZenFone 5 can shoot 4K video. To compress files with such a voluminous video, the HEVC coding format is used.

The 8 megapixel front camera provides decent quality photos that can be posted to Instagram and other mobile services.

In addition, Asus Zenfone 5 has very advanced communication functions (4G, dual-band Wi-Fi) and powerful hardware that allows you to run a variety of programs, play and watch videos. Separate words deserve a high-quality 5.5-inch screen and a battery that allows a mobile phone to work for about 2 days without recharging.

12. Xiaomi Mi5

Main camera: 16 MP, F2.0, LED flash (works like a flashlight), laser focus

Front-camera: 4 Mpix, F2.0

Operating system: Android 6.0, shell EMUI 4.1

Chip, processor, memory: 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (2 × 1.8 GHz, 2 × 1.36 GHz, 4 Kryo cores (ARMv8)), Adreno 530 graphics, 3/4 GB RAM, 32/64/128 GB flash memory

Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE, UMTS, HDSPA / HSUPA, 4G without LTE800 support, 2 nanoSIM type SIM cards, USB Type C (2.0), Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS , NFC

Battery: 3000 mAh, non-removable

Dimensions, weight: 145 x 69 x 7.3 mm, 132 g

The Xiaomi Mi5 smartphone is a typical representative of flagship models. It is made of metal and glass. In terms of functionality, it is good: fast, efficient, with a good screen, support for two SIM cards, a capacious battery. Photo and video filming is also of high quality.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is equipped with two digital camera modules. The main camera is a 16 megapixel Sony IMX298 sensor with a four-axis optical stabilization system (OIS) and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). Autofocus is fast, does not make mistakes, the double multi-colored flash is brighter than average, not a word about stabilization in the settings, that is, you cannot enable or disable it yourself. Photo resolution, as usual, is not specified: you cannot directly set the image size, you can only choose between veiled definitions such as “high, normal or low quality”. You cannot save images in RAW.

The video camera can shoot with a resolution of up to 3840 × 2160 (4K), there is the possibility of slow-motion slo-mo recording in 720p resolution at 120 frames per second, but the image quality there is very weak. Nothing is said about stabilization for video shooting, and in any case, the camera does not cope very well with shooting at maximum resolution. In this regard, the top-end Xiaomi device is clearly inferior to the flagship products of Samsung and HTC. The sound is also recorded at medium quality.

The front camera is equipped with a 4-megapixel sensor and an f / 2.0 aperture lens without autofocus and its own flash. There is nothing to praise the quality of the resulting images, the image is whitish.

Smartphones with a very good camera and special photographic functions are called camera phones. The level of photo and video recording of camera phones is growing every year and is gradually approaching the level of professional digital photo and video cameras. There are also cases of direct cooperation of manufacturers of professional photo and video equipment with manufacturers of smartphones cameras. For example, leading Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has partnered with renowned German camera company Leica and the equally renowned American camera maker GoPro in the development of the new flagship P10, unveiled at the end of February 2017.

This ranking will feature the best camera phones at the end of 2017. The ranking took into account comparative tests of smartphone cameras from such resources as dxomark.com, hi-tech.mail.ru. Both professional reviews and blind comparisons of cameras were taken into account (when ordinary people compare photos taken by different phone models, not knowing which photo was taken by one or another device). In this case, the priority is given to professional assessments, since only they can assess the correspondence of the photograph to the original, and the outside viewer is often inclined to give priority to bright colors and high contrast, which may not always correspond to reality.

OnePlus 5 64GB is the world's most powerful smartphone

The average price in Russia is 30,590 rubles. Buy OnePlus 5 128Gb on Aliexpress you can for 29.5 thousand rubles

Unveiled by the Chinese manufacturer on June 20, 2017, this model replaces the highly successful OnePlus 3T. The replacement turned out to be very successful: suffice it to say that the new OnePlus 5 received excellent reviews in the Yandex-Market - 82% of fives and 84% of purchase recommendations.

Specifications: Android 7.1 OS, Optic AMOLED screen 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1920x1080, support for two SIM cards and 4G LTE, 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner. 64 GB of permanent memory and 6 GB of RAM. There is also a more expensive variant with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. The AnTuTu resource, which analyzes data on the performance of various devices, in November 2017 recognized OnePlus 5 as the most powerful Android smartphone in the world.

OnePlus 5 received a 3300 mAh battery. Experts of the resource fonearena.com tested the autonomy of this model and the numbers turned out to be as follows: autonomous talk time - 25 hours 7 minutes (HTC U11, Huawei P10, Xiaomi Mi 6 also work around 25 hours), when surfing the web in 3G networks - 6 hours 19 minutes (which is slightly more than the LG G6 and slightly less than the Samsung Galaxy S8), while working on Wi-Fi - 8 hours 26 minutes (this is noticeably better than the Korean flagships and at the level of the Huawei P10 ), video playback time - 14 hours 16 minutes (this is at the level of Galaxy S8 and better than Xiaomi Mi 6, HTC U11, LG G6, Huawei P10), standby time - 52 days (like Galaxy S8). Thanks to Dash Charger technology (5V / 4A), it takes 1 hour and 11 minutes to fully charge OnePlus 5, which is faster than other flagships. For comparison, the runner-up Galaxy S8 has 1 hour 22 minutes, while the third-place LG G6 has 1 hour 24 minutes.

The OnePlus 3T only had one main camera. In the new model, the manufacturer followed the new trend and introduced a dual main camera module. The first Sony IMX 398 16MP sensor. The second Sony IMX 350 sensor is 20 megapixels. In camera functionality, the OnePlus 5 follows the iPhone 7. The first camera captures more light and detail, the second has a higher resolution. Why is this needed? To get closer to the picture without loss of quality. The maximum optical zoom of the 16-megapixel camera brings objects up to 1.6 times. Having reached a crop of 1.6, the module switches to a 20 megapixel camera and uses digital zoom. There is digital image stabilization (EIS) when recording 4K video. Front camera 16 megapixels. Dxomark gave the camera of the 5th OnePlus 87 points, as did the Huawei P10.

The OnePlus 3T was very durable. The new OnePlus is no exception. The well-known YouTube blogger Zach Nilsson scratched the metal case with keys, but traces from them are then easily removed with a finger. If you try to bend the phone, the OnePlus 5 lends itself a little to bending, and the screen separates from the case, but then returns to its place without any problems.

Oneplus 5 ranked third in .

9th place.

HTC 10 32Gb

Average price in Russia - 28,000 rubles. Buy HTC 10 on Aliexpress you can for 14.8 thousand rubles(delivery to Russia is free).

The flagship from the second largest Taiwanese manufacturer was released in May 2016 and today has scored 69% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market.The number of recommendations in Yandex-Market is 77%.

Specifications: Android 6.0 OS, 5.2-inch AMOLED screen with 2560x1440 resolution, 32 GB of permanent memory (23 GB of which are available to the user) and 4 GB of RAM. Support for external memory card. Supports only one SIM card. The battery capacity is 3000 mAh. Talk time - 27 hours, standby time - 456 hours. There is a fingerprint scanner.

The main advantage of this model is its cameras. Main - 12 megapixels, frontal - 5 megapixels. Optical image stabilization was introduced for the first time in both the main and front cameras. The camera shoots well in low light conditions. The manufacturer's website says: "You can expect perfect lighting for great photos. Or you can trust the main camera of HTC 10, which captures up to 136% more light in each shot. No magic - just the next generation UltraPixel technology, complemented by optical stabilization and a fast lens ƒ / 1.8 ". The front camera of the HTC 10 is just as impressive as the main one. The size of its light-sensitive elements is increased, the lens has an aperture of ƒ / 1.8, and the screen perfectly plays the role of a flash. A wide-angle lens will allow you to capture not only your own portrait, but also a group of friends. For the first time, the HTC 10 complements 4K video recording with 24-bit Hi-Res stereo sound recording. An audio track recorded in this format contains 256 times more detail and reproduces twice the frequency range. The HTC 10 camera starts up in 0.6 seconds - almost instantly.

Various reviews and comparison tests show that the HTC 10 has one of the best cameras in the world today. In July 2016, Phonearena conducted a comparative test of flagship cameras, in which HTC 10 took first place, beating the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Sony Xperia X Performance. The HTC 10's camera scored 88 on Dxomark.

Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB

Average price in Russia - 40 440 rubles. Buy Samsung Galaxy S8 on AliExpress you can for 41.8 thousand rubles(delivery to Russia is free). The flagship from the leading smartphone manufacturer in South Korea and in the world went on sale at the end of April 2017 and today has received 49% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market.The number of recommendations in Yandex-Market is 76%.

Fans of the South Korean brand had to wait for the new flagship for a whole year (last year's summer flagship Galaxy Note 7 does not count, since Samsung was forced to withdraw this model from sales soon after its launch due to battery problems) after its appearance in March 2016 Galaxy S7. As a result, the release of the Galaxy S8 caused an incredible excitement: in the first two days, the number of pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus (an enlarged version of the model) amounted to 550,000 pieces (for comparison: 100 thousand people ordered Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in the first 2 days) ...

Specifications Samsung Galaxy S8: 5.8-inch screen with QHD + resolution (3840x2160), Android 7.0 operating system with Samsung Experience 8.1 proprietary shell, 64 GB of permanent and 4 GB of RAM. There is a slot for memory cards up to 265 GB (combined with a slot for a second SIM card). Battery capacity - 3000 mAh. The battery life is 20 hours of talk time, 67 hours of music listening. Let's dwell on these specs a bit and compare them to last year's Galaxy S7 Edge. The diagonal of the screen has increased by 0.3 inches, the resolution has also noticeably increased, while the phone itself, paradoxically, has become even a little smaller and lighter. This effect was achieved due to the fact that the screen now occupies more than 80% of the front panel area: physical buttons have disappeared (they have become touch-sensitive), the Samsung inscription, there are practically no side frames, the free space and took up the screen. The amount of permanent memory has doubled. However, there is a small step back: the battery capacity has decreased, in this regard, the battery life has become shorter, while it is about the same as, for example, the seventh iPhone. The processor is a proprietary Samsung Exynos 8895.

In terms of cameras, Samsung decided to ignore the trend of dual main camera in the flagship model, which was followed by Apple, Huawei, LG and in the old-fashioned way has a single main camera improved over the already excellent S7 camera. The S8 has a new 12MP Sony IMX333 sensor with DualPixel technology. The front camera (8MP) is equipped with a bright lens for perfect selfies even at night, and also supports Intelligent AF with Face Detection. By the way, face recognition has become one of the interesting features of the S8: you don't need to use a fingerprint scanner to unlock your smartphone, you just need to show your face to the smartphone. There is also a third method: scanning the iris of the eye (however, this method will be inconvenient because wearers of glasses or contact lenses).

Dxomark scored 88 points for the Galaxy S8. Galaxy S8 took part in two blind tests conducted among readers of the hi-tech.mail.ru portal in 2017. In the April test, the Korean flagship took the second place after Huawei P10. The editors of the portal in a professional assessment also gave the Galaxy S8 silver after the Google Pixel, commenting on the capabilities of the camera as follows: “The Galaxy S8 Plus camera is universal. It does not give out amazing sharpness, huge dynamic range or detailed shots in the dark. excellent result. We can safely recommend it to mobile photographers. " In the June blind test, the Galaxy S8 finished second again, this time behind the Honor 8 Pro. The editors gave the Galaxy S8 the first place, while the Google Pixel did not take part in the test.

HTC U11 64Gb

The average price is 35,500 rubles. You can buy HTC U11 64Gb on Aliexpress for 30.8 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free).

The flagship from the Taiwanese manufacturer went on sale in June 2017 and today received 72% of fives in reviews in Yandex-Market. The number of recommendations in Yandex-Market is 85%.

Already at the start of sales, it is obvious that, unexpectedly for everyone, HTC released the brightest flagship of the first half of 2017, which surpassed the competitors in camera quality and performance. The superb camera quality on the HTC U11 was to be expected, given that last year's flagship HTC 10 was ranked best camera of 2016 for most of the year, only surrendering its place to the Google Pixel in October. After the release of HTC U11, it topped the rating of the photographic resource Dxomark and was ousted only in the fall with the releases of new iPhones, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Google Pixel 2. Dxomark gave the HTC flagship camera 90 points for photography and 89 points for video. The average score was 90.

The main module has a 12-megapixel UltraPixel 3 sensor with a pixel size of 1.4 microns, optics with an f / 1.7 aperture and optical stabilization. The UltraSpeed Autofocus system is responsible for focusing, in which every pixel is involved.

The review on the hi-tech.mail.ru portal says about the camera of this model:

"The U11 locks onto its target instantly, without missing, even in low light.

I was impressed by the work of the software. You do 10 frames in a row - and all 10 will be the same. That is, the settings for exposure, shutter speed, ISO do not get lost at the slightest movement of the phone, and the built-in algorithms do not recognize this as a change in composition. This is often found in Chinese smartphones, and even in some flagships, such as the Google Pixel or LG G6. There, the two photos can differ in brightness or graininess - as the automation wishes.

When shooting against the sun or bright skies, HDR Boost "stretches" details even in the darkest areas. The dynamic range is as wide as in the Google Pixel shots. There is some logic in this: the companies collaborated on the development of the Pixel. Perhaps HTC has lent the capacity of its factories, and in return Google has shared secret HDR + algorithms. "

The front camera has an incredible 16 megapixel resolution, f2.0 aperture, video is recorded in 1080p.

In a blind test of comparison between cameras of flagship smartphones and Canon 5D Mark II DSLRs, conducted among readers of hi-tech.mail.ru, HTC U11 took the penultimate place, gaining 1 point less than a DSLR. The editors of the portal explained it this way: "HTC U11 fell into the same trap as the camera: excellent detail, correct exposure, but looks too simple against the background of bright competitors." In this case, not the final sample was used in the test, but the test one, which could affect the quality of the shooting.

Other specifications: Android 7.1 OS, 5.5-inch Super LCD screen with 2560x1440 resolution, 64GB of permanent memory and 4GB of RAM. Supports external memory card up to 2 TB. Support for two SIM cards. The battery capacity is 3000 mAh. Talk time - 24.5 hours, standby time - 336 hours. There is a fingerprint scanner on the front. HTC U11 has pressure-sensitive edges, which means that by simply squeezing the smartphone in your hand, you can take a photo with the camera, launch applications, and turn on the flashlight.

HTC U11 is IP67 protected and can be immersed in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes and sprinkled with sand.

Also worth noting is the beautiful glossy body.

HTC U11 currently ranks third in performance among Android smartphones in the AnTuTu study, behind only OnePlus 5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 64Gb

Average price in Russia - 19,980 rubles. Buy Mi Note 3 64Gb on AliExpress it is possible for 19.3 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The phone, presented in September 2017, has scored 79% of the top fives in Yandex-Market reviews and received 93% of purchase recommendations.

Specifications: 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080, 64 GB of built-in and as much as 6 GB of RAM, 2 SIM cards. Battery capacity 3500 mAh. 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner. Metal body.

The main thing to pay attention to in this model is the cameras. Mi Note 3 has 3 cameras: dual main and front. The main cameras provide a 12-megapixel image. One of them is wide-angle with a focal length of 27 mm, an aperture of f / 1.8 and optical stabilization. The second has a focal length of 52 mm, an aperture of f / 2.6 and it has no optical stabilization. The second main camera is used for dual optical zoom. The camera is accompanied by a dual-tone flash that allows for more natural color reproduction when shooting indoors. The front camera has a 16-megapixel sensor from Samsung. Dxomark photo resource specialists gave the Mi Note 3 very good marks - 94 points for photography, which corresponds to the seventh place. For comparison, the iPhone 8 scored 93 points for taking photos. The video shooting did not impress the Dxomark editors so much, for which Mi Note 3 received 82 points. The average score was 90. For a smartphone costing less than 20 thousand rubles, the result is simply amazing. Therefore, Mi Note 3 is the best choice for those who want a smartphone with a very good camera, but are ready to allocate no more than 20 thousand rubles for the purchase.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 64GB is the best smartphone for zoom

Average price in Russia - 54,950 rubles.

The autumn flagship of Samsung went on sale on September 15, 2017 and today has scored 70% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market. The number of purchase recommendations - 84%.

Samsung has made it a rule to release two flagships a year: in the spring of the flagship of the Galaxy S family, and closer to the fall of the more advanced flagship of the Galaxy Note family with a stylus. However, last year, the Galaxy Note 7 was discontinued shortly after launch due to battery issues, making the new Galaxy Note 8 flagship virtually the first in its class in two years.

Samsung in its new flagship follows the trend of recent times for large screens, while being one step ahead of the competition. While Apple in the 10th iPhone came to the need to increase the diagonal to 5.8 inches (as in the spring Galaxy S8), the Galaxy Note 8 received a fantastic 6.3 inches (the resolution is also impressive: 2960x1440). It has become slightly larger in body dimensions than the Galaxy S8: 7.5 cm wide versus 6.8 cm, 16.2 cm high versus 14.9 cm tall, but due to the competent use of the screen area (it is frameless, as in the Galaxy S8) dimensions and the weight of the glass-metal body is comparable to the classic 5.5-inch models of competitors. For example, the 5.5-inch Apple iPhone 8 Plus is 0.3 cm wider and 7 grams heavier than the Galaxy Note 8, although the latter is 0.4 cm longer. claims the Galaxy Note 8 has "the most innovative and high-performance screen the site has ever tested."

If the front of the Galaxy Note 8 differs from the Galaxy S8 only in the size of the case, then when you look at the rear panel, these models are definitely not confused. Samsung in the new flagship followed another trend: for the first time it used a dual main camera (the Galaxy S8 still had one main camera). The first camera is wide-angle, with a focal length of 26 mm and an aperture of f / 1.7. The second is a narrow 52mm tele-camera. This corresponds roughly to the angle of view of the human eye, so it is also suitable for portraits without distorting perspective. Both modules with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Both modules have optical stabilization (the same technique was later repeated by the iPhone X). Now you can shoot smooth videos and sharp photos not only in normal mode, but also with 2x optical zoom. Dxomark named the Galaxy Note 8 the best smartphone for zoom (enlarging the image when shooting). For example, according to this indicator, he received 66 points against 58 for the iPhone X. For the second camera, Samsung has added a "dynamic focus" function. When enabled, you can adjust the amount of background blur before and after the shutter is released. In this case, the smartphone saves photos from both cameras. The front camera of the Galaxy Note 8 in terms of aperture as the main one is f / 1.7, the resolution is 8 megapixels.

Dxomark gave Samsung's flagship camera 100 points for photography and 84 points for video. The average score was 94. The Galaxy Note 8 was second only to three models in terms of the average score: Google Pixel 2 (while Samsung has 1 point higher for photography), iPhone X (Samsung has only 1 point lower for photography) and has not yet reaching Russia Huawei Mate 10 Pro (Samsung has the same score for photography).

Now about the stylus that comes with the kit and distinguishes the Galaxy Note 8 from other flagships. What is it for? Draw, write down reminders, take notes on photos. You don't even need to unlock the screen to write and edit notes. In addition, by pressing with the stylus, you can translate words in a foreign language text. Of course, most people will rarely need a stylus, but for creative people it will be a real find.

Galaxy Note 8 has 64 GB of internal memory, as well as support for an external memory card up to 256 GB (iPhone X does not support memory cards), but you have to choose what to insert into the tray: a second SIM card or a memory card. The 8-core Samsung Exynos 9 8895 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM, make the Note 8 the world's second most powerful Android smartphone (on the first OnePlus 5).

After the battery failure of the Galaxy Note 7 in the new flagship, Samsung decided not to experiment with this component and supplied the phone with a standard 3300 mAh battery, which allows the Note 8 to work 22 hours of talk time and 74 hours of listening to music. There is a fast charging function. Half an hour at the outlet, and the battery will last for 3-4 hours. It will take 1 hour 41 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

There are three types of unlocking: the usual fingerprint scanner, face scan and iris scan. In this case, the fingerprint scanner located on the back panel will be more convenient for men, because women will not be too comfortable to reach it because of the size of the case.

3rd place.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro 6 / 128GB

The average price in Russia is 44,700 rubles. You can buy Huawei Mate 10 on AliExpress for 42 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). To date, the model has scored 71% of the fives in reviews in Yandex-Market. The number of recommendations in Yandex-Market is 79%.

Huawei has three flagship lines, the oldest of which is the Mate family. At the same time, the cost of Mate models does not at all fit into the Chinese standards of an affordable price, although it should be borne in mind that Huawei is a representative of the top three smartphone manufacturers in the world along with Samsung and Apple, and if you compare the price of the Mate 10 Pro with the flagships of these manufacturers, it is noticeably lower ... For example, Apple iPhone X 64GB costs 68 thousand rubles, that is, one and a half times more expensive, and Samsung Galaxy S9 + 128GB costs 54 thousand rubles, that is, 20% more expensive.

Like the aforementioned flagships of Samsung and Apple, the Mate 10 Pro, which went on sale in October 2017, follows the trend of almost bezel-less smartphones, due to which, in a body similar to a 5.5-inch smartphone, a 6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2160x1080.

Huawei has partnered with renowned German camera company Leica in recent years, making their cameras one of the best in the world. This model has a dual main camera, one of the sensors of which has a resolution of 12 megapixels and is responsible for colors, and the other with a resolution of 20 megapixels is monochrome and provides high-definition images. The aperture of the camera is fantastic f / 1.6 (the less this figure, the better; for comparison: the Galaxy Note 8 has f / 1.7, and the 10th iPhone has f / 2.4 at all). In practice, this means that low-light shots will be even sharper, and black and white shots will be very expressive. Also in the matter of image clarity, optical image stabilization should help. In addition, the camera has a 4-in-1 composite autofocus, which greatly reduces the time it takes to focus. The front camera has an 8 megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 2.0. Photo resource Dxomark gave the Huawei flagship camera an average score of 97, 100 points for photography, 91 points for video.

Other characteristics: Android 8.0 OS, 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor, 128 GB of internal and 6 GB of RAM, no memory card slot, support for two SIM cards. The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh, which is one of the best indicators among the flagships. There is a fast charging function. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back.

At the presentation of this model, it was said the following: "The Huawei Mate 10 series introduces the first neural processor with support for artificial intelligence, ushering in the era of smart smartphones."

Apple iPhone X 64GB - the best smartphone for photography

Average price in Russia -68,000 rubles. The tenth iPhone (X in this case is the Roman numeral 10) went on sale on November 3, 2017, and today it has scored 58% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market. The number of recommendations in Yandex-Market is 64%.

This year, the iPhone celebrates its 10th anniversary: the first iPhone went on sale on June 29, 2007. Apple, which in recent years offered customers the same eggs, only in profile, decided to finally launch something fundamentally new on the market, and it succeeded, however, a significant part of the innovations was simply repeated for Android manufacturers, and the rest turned out to be ambiguous. Firstly, the iPhone X received a frameless screen, and even with an OLED matrix. However, this is a novelty only for iPhones, since the bezel-less display first appeared back in the spring on the Samsung Galaxy S8, as well as the Galaxy Note 8, which went on sale in September. As for the OLED display, it is not original, but produced by Samsung, and, apparently, Samsung left the best displays for its models, and sold to Apple with worse quality, because after the release of the iPhone X, users began to complain about screen flickering when the brightness was lowered. In the design of the front panel, the spirit of Samsung hovered over Apple, tk. if you arrange everything in the best possible way, you get an exact copy of Samsung's flagships. Apparently, for this reason, a strange blotting into the screen appeared on the top of the front panel, which users called "codpiece", "beard" or "monobrow", and it is not convenient to view content in all applications. the monobrow sometimes crawls over him. But now it is very easy to distinguish the iPhone X from all other smartphones.

Samsung has introduced three types of unlocking in its new flagships: a familiar fingerprint scanner, a face scan and an iris scan. Apple took a more radical approach, removed the fingerprint scanner and left only the face scanner, which creates a three-dimensional model of the face and then learns to recognize its owner in new images. But this feature has two drawbacks. First, the system does not understand the fact of growing up in children and one day it will stop recognizing them. Therefore, Apple does not recommend using the tenth iPhone for children under 13. Secondly, face recognition will not be able to distinguish between twins, so the tenth iPhone is also not recommended for those who have twin siblings. And also to those who have children similar to them. YouTube has video where 10 year old boy unlocked his mom's iPhone just by looking at it.

The bezel-less display leaves no room for physical buttons. Samsung has simply made the buttons touch sensitive. Apple, instead of following a successful example, chose an uncomfortable option: gesture control. As a result, it became impossible to use the phone with one hand in many situations.

When you look at the back panel, you can also immediately distinguish the 10th iPhone from all the others, tk. the camera block is located not horizontally, but vertically. At the same time, the block protrudes so much that the phone cannot lie flat on the table. The problem is solved only by purchasing a cover. Now about the cameras themselves: they are almost the same as in the iPhone 8 Plus: a dual primary at 12 megapixels and a front one at 7 megapixels. At the same time, the aperture was improved from f / 2.8 to f / 2.4, double stabilization was introduced and a portrait mode was added when shooting selfies. Resource Dxomark gave the iPhone 8 Plus camera 94 points, the same was received by the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and the iPhone X received 97 points, while still not becoming the leader in shooting quality, because it was outstripped by Google Pixel 2 due to the best video shooting: in video tests Pixel 2 scored 96 points, and the iPhone 89, but the iPhone won the photo tests, gaining 101 points against 99 forPixel 2. If we take only photography, then the tenth iPhone can be called the best in this component at the moment, although the advantage is insignificant over Galaxy S8 and Pixel 2 and it does not show up in all aspects of photography.

Other characteristics: a 5.8-inch screen (actually smaller, because the black notch eats up part of the screen space) with a resolution of 2436x1125 pixels, the operating system iOS 11, 64 GB of permanent memory and 3 GB of RAM, support for one SIM card. The smartphone does not support an external memory card, however, Google provides unlimited storage for photos and videos taken on Pixel for free (until 2021). Battery capacity 2716 mAh. 6-core Apple A11 Bionic processor. Case material - glass. As with other recent iPhones, there is no standard headphone jack, no support for memory cards and a second SIM card.

Last year's Pixel was once the best camera phone, now the Pixel 2 has taken over the baton, which with an average score of 98 points leads the ranking of the best mobile cameras in Dxomark. The victory was achieved due to excellent video shooting, where competitors could not even get close to Pixel 2 with 96 points (the smartphone got an excellent, but not a record 99 points for taking photos). The hi-tech.mail.ru portal, comparing the Pixel 2 camera with the cameras of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note 8, noted the clear superiority of the smartphone from Google in portrait photography, however, in general, gave a slight preference for the Galaxy Note 8. It should be noted that both the Dxomark test and the hi-tech.mail.ru test were carried out before the activation of the Pixel Visual Core chip, which should take place in the Android 8.1 OS version and will be responsible for the HDR + function (due to which the first generation Pixel took the lead in mobile photography). The innovation will allow you to process images five times faster and consume ten times less power than if the option functioned through a standard image processor in the Snapdragon 835. According to Google representatives, over time, Pixel Visual Core will provide users with much more options.

The main camera (it is one) Pixel 2 has a resolution of 12 megapixels, f / 1.8 aperture and optical stabilization. The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels. In comparing the Pixel 2 front cameras with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 front cameras, hi-tech.mail.ru experts noted: “The Note 8 and Mate 10 Pro did the best with determining the white balance, and the Pixel 2 failed the shades in frightening yellowness. But at the same time, the flagship Google worked much better on the details and did not allow overexposure, unlike smartphones Samsung and Huawei. "

Other characteristics of Pixel 2: 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, new Android 8.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 4 GB of RAM, support for one SIM card. The smartphone does not support an external memory card, however, Google provides unlimited storage for photos and videos taken on Pixel for free (until 2021). Battery capacity 2700 mAh.
