The new iPhone 7 models turned out to be very attractive in terms of design. As always, Apple fans were interested in what this deice is made of, what material was used in the case, and many other questions. And, of course, among the main subjects of curiosity was the display. What is its diagonal in inches, resolution and so on. After all, any user wants to enjoy a beautiful picture. This is perhaps the most important criterion for choosing a new phone.
Let's just say that the iPhone 7 screen is more than fine. The same can be said about the "stuffing". In this review, we will focus on both, paying increased attention to the question of what kind of display the seventh version of the gadget has.
Let's look at the main parameters of the seventh device from Apple in the context of comparing it with the 7 Plus. Let's touch on the characteristics of the screen, which we will talk about in more detail later.
So, the most important parameters of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus:
- A 4.7-inch screen in a simple "seven" (the plus version has a little more).
- The screen resolution is 750 x 1334 pixels (the 7S has a lot more).
- The presence of the A10 processor and the M10 coprocessor = for both gadgets.
- "Operative" - 2 and 3 GB, respectively.
- Memory capacity - a choice of gadgets in 3 variations, with 32, 128 or 256 GB.
- The main camera is 12 MP.
- Selfie element - 7 MP.
- Operating system - iOS 10.
As you can see, many of the characteristics of the phones are identical. The material of the case is also the same (glass on the front panel and very durable aluminum on the back). The set of devices is also the same. Specifically, a Lightning cord is included with both models.
Seven processor
Admirers of "apple" products were delighted to learn that Apple has introduced a processor with 4 A10 cores, clocked at 1.4 GHz into the new devices. Moreover, it was made according to a modern 14-nm process technology. This has a remarkable effect on performance indicators. The same can be said for energy efficiency. And all this because it has more powerful characteristics (almost 2 times better than devices of the sixth line). Recall that the sixes function on the basis of the A9.
Another novelty in the iPhone 7 is a new chipset based on the big.LITTLE principle. Its essence is that 2 medium-sized kernels are used for simple tasks. And when the system needs increased speed, two more join them.
According to the developer, the A10 is the fastest processor in the history of smartphones in general (and not just "apple" ones). The presence of powerful graphics contributed to this.
IPhone 7 screen size and other characteristics
This line of smartphones from the "apple" company has retained the same displays as in the previous 2 generations of devices. The manufacturer decided not to invent anything new if the previous options were quite good. Today you will not surprise anyone with a large screen of a mobile phone. And no one would ever think of calling such gadgets "shovels". The time when large displays seemed unusual to users has long since sunk into oblivion.
And the indicators of the iPhone 7 screen, we recall once again, are as follows - a 4.7-inch screen, a resolution of 1334 by 750, Retina HD, 326 ppi.
Black color of the case appeared in this line, which makes this device more stylish. But the manufacturer decided to say goodbye to the Space Gray shade. As sales statistics show, most often users prefer black gadgets. Although they have only one drawback - the remaining fingerprints. For this reason, there is more maintenance for such devices. They have to be wiped down more often.
IPhone 7 camera
The cameras should receive special attention in the "seven". There are no complaints about this element of the new gadget - the manufacturer clearly did a great job.
The device has an excellent sensor of 12 MP and an aperture of F / 1.8. The plus model is equipped with a dual lens with similar other indicators (like a simple seven).
The second lens in the plus version is equipped with 2x optical zoom. Unlike the models of the sixth line, both devices have optical stabilization. And the sensors of the latter concentrate 2 times more light rays. Lenses of the highest quality are the main plus of the cameras of both sevens.
The main item can write 4K video at 60fps. The latter was clearly not enough for the previous phones. The selfie camera for both the simple seven and the plus version comes with a resolution of 7 MP. This is more than enough for selfie lovers. After all, the frames are bright and clear.
Memory
In both of the mentioned variants, sevens of memory are sufficient. But in the plus model it is 50% more. These characteristics have been significantly improved by the manufacturer.
But it is not entirely clear why the developer increased the amount of memory only on the second model (by the way, with a large screen). After all, both sevens operate on the same version of the "operating system".
Both devices are offered to users in 3 variations - 32, 128 and 256 GB. The cost of different versions, of course, is different. It is worth emphasizing that Apple has finally stopped releasing gadgets with a minimum memory of 16 GB. Probably, such a model was of little demand. At first, users purchased such devices, and then complained on the forums about the lack of permanent memory. As you know, Apple devices do not have slots for external drives.
Battery
A few words should also be said about the properties of the battery. After all, why do you need a large and bright display, if, for example, a battery withstands active work only half a day? Fortunately, this is not the case for the 7.
The results of various tests of the seventh line device show that its battery is far superior to previous smartphones. And the manufacturer himself claims that now the period of operation of the gadget without additional recharging has increased by 2 hours. But this applies to the plus version of the device. A simple seven has a similar indicator - 1 hour, which is also good.
As expected, both devices - both a simple 7 and a plus - have high-capacity batteries. The smaller model has a 1980 mAh battery, and the Plus version has another 50% more.
Another gimmick: waterproof
All the "stuffing" of the iPhone 7, that is, all the above-described elements, are reliably protected by a shell with waterproof properties. The latter is made in the form of a structure made of a material such as aluminum. According to the developers, the device is certified in accordance with the IP67 standard. And this means that if the gadgets of the seventh line are placed under water to a depth of no more than one meter, and no longer than half an hour, then nothing will happen to them.
Of course, the devices will not break if you talk on them in the rain. Or if they do not stay in a humid environment for long. But this does not mean that you can handle the technique carelessly.
And some more good things about the iPhone 7
The seven has a completely new Home button. Rather, now it's not even a button, but a panel with touch technology. It supports gestures and 3D touch.
Both sevens have a built-in vibration motor for feedback. He transmits various events to the user so that he knows about them in a timely manner.
There are speakers on both top ends of the devices. When the iPhone is horizontal, these elements create a stereo effect. Compared to the devices of the previous line, the sound volume has been increased 2 times.

As you may have noticed, the screen-to-body ratio on the iPhone 7 Plus is slightly better at 67.89% versus 65.82%. This suggests that the larger device uses up the space of the front panel better.
One way or another, most people will find it uncomfortable to use the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, since it will need to be held in one hand, while the other is already controlled. Size comparison with Galaxy S7 Edge and OnePlus 3
The phablet iPhone 7 Plus is noticeably larger than the Galaxy S7 Edge, although the diagonal of their screen is the same. The smartphone from Samsung is less than 8 mm higher than its competitor in height, and it is also about 4 mm narrower. The only advantage of the Apple phone is its thickness. A similar situation is observed when comparing the sizes of the iPhone 7 Plus and OnePlus 3: the Chinese brand has made its product more compact, although not so thin.
Apple iPhone 7 is lower and thinner than Galaxy S7, although its diagonal is significantly smaller. He also loses to the “Korean” in terms of the volume of the built-in battery. The thickness of the flagship from Samsung is 0.79 cm, the width of its body reaches 6.96 cm, and the height is 14.24 cm. OnePlus 3, of course, loses to the seventh iPhone in all these parameters, but its screen is much larger.

Comparing the displays, of course, the iPhone 7 Plus is also larger, the screen height has become 12.12 cm, the width has been increased to 6.85 cm. Compare iPhone 7 to iPhone 7 Plus
Comparing the dimensions of both flagships, we can conclude that the iPhone 7 Plus is larger than the iPhone 7. Despite a small margin, the 5.5-inch display outperforms 4.7 inches, and the display: body ratio, albeit slightly, but the iPhone 7 Plus is better than 67.89% : 65.82%.
Bottom line: The larger version makes better use of the front panel space.
But despite the small advantages, the overwhelming number of people will be uncomfortable with the iPhone 7 Plus, because for full use it is necessary to hold the gadget with one hand and operate the other. Besides, having any tablet there is no need to buy this phone.
Compare dimensions with OnePlus 3 and Galaxy S7 Edge
Despite the fact that the diagonal displays of the devices are identical, the iPhone 7 Plus is much larger than its competitor, the Galaxy S7 Edge.

The "Korean" has a thickness of 0.79 cm, the scale of the "torso" is 6.96 cm, and the length is 14.24 cm. Comparing OnePlus3 with the seventh iPhone, it will immediately become clear that the Chinese device loses on all fronts, although the display is much larger.
Almost all leaks were confirmed. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were unveiled today. Now we have a new color, more memory, a more powerful processor, better cameras (the Plus version received a double module) and a few more chips, which we will talk about immediately.

New design
There are several innovations here. And most of them are located on the back of the device.
The plastic sides of the antennas have been slightly modified. Gone are the ugly stripes that closed the space at the top and bottom of the device. Everything looks much nicer now.

The next innovation from the "long overdue" category is dust and moisture protection according to the IP67 standard. More precisely, it is resistant to splashes, water and dust. Nowhere on the site I did not find information regarding the details, but the name itself does not allow it to be interpreted more broadly than it really is. In general, you should not throw into the water, and getting caught in the rain is no longer scary. Otherwise, you yourself will be to blame, if that.
Rumors of a new color scheme have surfaced quite recently. No, I'm not talking about the matte blue that was discussed a couple of months ago. I'm talking about the glossy black paint, which in the original is called "Jet black", and in the adapted translation - "Black Onyx".
Interestingly, the fifth color will be available in configurations for 128 and 256 GB of internal memory. The initial 32GB models (not 16 as in all previous releases) will only ship in four base colors. Well, how basic? Space Gray smoothly flows into "noble matte black", so in fact we have two new colors.

Quad-LEG is a new type of flash that both iPhones have received. From the name it is clear that there are 4 LEDs, which, according to the manufacturer, give 50% more light than before.
And now entertaining mathematics from me personally. At the presentation, it was announced that the ISP processor processes up to 100 billion operations in 25 milliseconds for a single snapshot. I would venture to assume that there is a certain cycle of operations for each pixel of the matrix, and in our case there are 12,000,000 of them. By simple division, we find that in fact each image takes 8.33 operations in the same 0.25 seconds. It doesn't sound so cool anymore.
In addition, we expanded the color range, improved auto white balance, and so on. All these nuances will be noticeable by directly comparing the generations of this and 2015.

Main cameras (iPhone 7 Plus)
As expected, the phablet received a dual module. The first sensor has a wide angle, a telephoto lens is mounted on top of the second. Both modules are 12 megapixels.
Two cameras are needed at once to perform two simple things.
First, there is the optical 2x zoom. There is also digital (10x for photos and 6x for video), but you shouldn't take it seriously, because it just stretches the picture under the screen, exposing all the pixels and flaws of digital shooting.
Secondly, it is blur or bokeh. It is achieved by analyzing an object with two sensors at once, as well as the distance to it. In principle, Apple did not come up with anything new here. We saw the same technology back in the spring of 2015. All these tricks worked badly and still work. Even an advertising example of a photograph clearly shows this. Take a look at the image below.
The hair I marked with a red circle should be in focus. And if they are clear at the beginning, and then sharply blurred, then they were simply suppressed by software algorithms.
Front-camera
The front camera FaceTime is now 7 megapixels, instead of 5, as it was in the 6S. Brighter, more colorful, richer in opportunities - nothing more specific was said.
Display
It is not clear what exactly, but something was done with the screen. Now it is 25% brighter, more color gamut, so the picture is now of cinematic quality. It sounds, of course, impressive, but what this means is unknown.
3D Touch is still there. They say that from this moment it is available everywhere in iOS.
New processor
Many other brands start their presentation with the characteristics of their product. Well, maybe from the design, but then the praise goes to the side of the chipset. Apple is not like that. They started talking about the inner stuffing much later - almost at the very end.
The name of the new stone is A10 Fusion. The processor includes 4 cores, two of which operate at higher frequencies. They are 40% faster than the A9 cores and twice as powerful as the A8 chip, which was installed in the six.
The other two cores are economical and work at 1/5 of the strength of their pumped neighbors.
It is clear that the load is cleverly switched to those cores that are needed at the moment. All this allows the new product to consume less energy than its predecessors. Indeed, Apple assures that the iPhone 7 lasts two hours longer than the Six ES, and the 7 Plus lasts one hour longer than its predecessor.
In addition, the A10 Fusion includes a graphics accelerator (GPU) with 6 cores. It is 50% faster than the A9.
Apple finally heard the pleas of its fans and increased the amount of memory in the minimum configuration - now it's 32 GB. The intermediate model received 128 GB, and the top versions will be equipped with 256 GB. That's four times more memory than my 2012 MacBook Air 11 ''.
Stereo sound
Yes, the iPhone 7 has two speakers. They are installed at the top and bottom, so now we will enjoy stereo sound. The overall volume has doubled.
3.5mm down
As expected, Apple decided to ditch the standard 3.5mm headphone jack in its smartphones. We remember the times when everyone was looking for adapters from 2.5 to 3.5 mm. Obviously, everything is back to square one and now we will buy adapters from Ali with Lightning to a standard headset port on Ali. By the way, one is already included in the kit.
It is clear that the bundled EarPods will come with a matching connector. By the way, at the presentation they said that some of the manufacturers have already prepared by releasing their solutions with the Lightning port. This is me about JBL Reflect Aware.
Wireless future
This is me about AirPods, which were also presented today. It looks like regular EarPods, but without a cable. Generally.
These are two physically unrelated headphones, which, firstly, are wireless, and secondly, will be sold separately ($ 159 at the end of October), and thirdly, I lost one - throw out the second.
There are small photosensors on the body that turn on the headphones when you insert them into your ears and pause, for example, playback when you take them out. Everything is simple and elegant.
Of course, they have a built-in microphone, and a double tap activates Siri.
In addition, the "ears" are equipped with accelerometers that react when you start to say something. It is not yet clear how all this works in practice, but it sounds cool.
Interestingly, the headphone has its own processor called W1. He is responsible for the operation of the accessory without interruptions, as well as for optimizing energy consumption. 5 hours of audio playback at 50 percent volume - easy! By the way, the remaining charge is very easy to check. You bring the headphones to the iPhone and it displays everything (apparently, there is an NFC tag), well, or you can ask Siri.
The gadget is stored and charged in its own case. 15 minutes of charging gives 3 hours of music playback.
Connection
The device supports LTE Advanced. In theory, data transfer speeds can reach 450 Mbps (three times faster than the iPhone 6).
Built-in Wi-Fi supports data transfer rates up to 866 Mbps (802.11 ac + MIMO). Unfortunately, the ac standard will not work in the officially purchased iPhone 7 in Russia, because it is not certified. In general, there is a lot of leapfrog going on with this standard.
