Initially, it was believed that the well-known program, Adobe Reader, could best cope with this task, which, in principle, is true, because. this program has the most powerful set of utilities for working with PDF files. However, the flexibility and power of the program is fully “compensated” by its huge size (about 205 MB).
You can object and say that there is, the so-called. "light version" - Adobe Reader Lite, which is both faster and "lighter" - about 63 MB. But this is quite a lot, in comparison with the programs listed below, thanks to which you can open pdf files, read pdf files, or even edit pdf files.
Let's take a look at these programs.
1) Foxit Reader.
Most likely, today it is practically the “lightest” (3.5 MB) and fastest program with which you can easily open and read any pdf file. The program works great with Windows Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista.

It is important to note that when viewing a PDF file, when hovering over the note icon, a pop-up text will appear.
Typewriter - by selecting this item, you can safely enter text in the right place. However, the new text is entered on top of the page!
Text- the item is almost similar to the previous one, only the text is framed in a frame of the specified style.
Footnote Actually, the name speaks for itself. The text is framed and an arrow is attached to it.
Backlight- here you can already select the necessary fragments of text with a given background, by default - yellow.
Strikethrough - in fact, select the desired text that needs to be crossed out.
underlining – underlining the necessary fragments with the specified line style.
The following items allow you to insert specified shapes into a PDF document − Arrow, Line, Rectangle, Oval, Polyline, Polygon, Cloud.
Attachment Tool - in the right place, click the left mouse button, a dialog box will open for selecting the file that needs to be attached to the PDF document.
Pencil- this tool allows you to draw in a PDF file with a pencil, you can set the light and line thickness.
Eraser- erases what was drawn with a pencil.
Documents menu contains options for inserting or deleting pages, zooming or rotating.
See, as you can see, the PDF XChange Viewer only allows you to partially edit a PDF file, but as a workaround, you can add a new page, select the Text tool, and enter the desired information from a blank sheet.
Foxit PDF Editor - pdf editing software
Foxit PDF Editor allows you to change the font and size of images, and also allows you to export PDF content to text files, HTML, Microsoft Office, or graphic formats. Using Foxit PDF Editor we can add our own text, edit content, add images or stamps.

For Foxit PDF Editor, I will say that to edit existing text, just click the mouse cursor in the right place. The text fragment will automatically be framed, and you can change everything to your liking. In the same way, you can move not only images but also text fragments.
Infix PDF Editor - edit pdf files
I really liked this program for editing PDF files.

- Secondly, unlike the applications discussed above, the ability to edit the entire text, and not just fragments, is perfectly implemented here. In general, everything is very convenient.
In fact, this is not exactly a PDF editor, but rather one that has the ability to edit PDF files. The general interface of the program is similar to such graphic editors as CorelDraw, Illustrator or Xara X. The application allows you to work with text, markers, gradients and other objects.
This program for editing PDF file has one flaw- when opening a document, we can select only one page that needs to be changed. As a result, if, after editing, click on "Save", then we will save only the specified page, losing almost the entire PDF document.

Adobe Acrobat Professional- a software package for editing PDF files from Adobe. Quite a powerful tool, but... it weighs several hundred meters, which is a bit heavy compared to other PDF editing programs.

You know, there are often situations when you need to change something in the text of a PDF file, but for many users this just seems to be something impossible, because this type of document is essentially not editable. Aaaah! Guard! What then to do? No panic. Today I will tell you how to edit text in a PDF document, and in several ways at once.
The only thing to consider is the origin of this file. It can be formed both from text (then there are exactly zero problems), and from pictures. And if it suddenly turns out that the file itself contains scanned images with text, then there are only 2 options:
- Or recognize the entire document, and then with the same pages, but already in text format.
- Or upload the file to the Photoshop graphics editor, and already there show the wonders of the skill of working with graphics, selecting fonts according to the picture, etc.
But both of these methods are terribly hemorrhoids, so we will start from the fact that PDF is originally of textual origin.
This is the most official way for direct editing. Therefore, we will consider it first. True, there is one problem. If the reader (Adobe Reader) is absolutely free, then the editor itself is already worth the money. At the moment it is a little less than 1000 rubles a month. But of course, most people download this program for free from torrents...shhhh...I didn't tell you that).
Editing from Word
There is another interesting way that will suit your needs. True, it is a little longer, but no less effective and free. Our favorite text editor Microsoft Word will help us with this. And, by the way, even here there are two options for how this can be implemented.
Word
Word itself has long had the ability to open documents in PDF format. Moreover, they are not loaded in the form of pictures, but, as expected, in the form of text. All you have to do is just open Microsoft Word and open the desired document.
The only problem is that it may not look exactly like the original file. By the way, we are warned about this even when opening the file. Due to different indents and fonts, a different number of words and paragraphs can be written on each page. In addition, if the file contains pictures, they can also move out.
But in general, you can edit the text however you want. After all, you are already working in a regular Word, which, in fact, was created for writing and editing documents. All that remains for you is to save the file in the same PDF, because the latest versions of the office allow this.
Small Pdf
Let's now look at another way. As an example, I will use my favorite online PDF converter, namely SmallPDF. I have already described how to work with him and, therefore, I will not crucify for a long time.
Just go to the site and select an item from PDF to WORD, then follow the instructions. Once the document is ready, download it and see if there are any flaws.
I want to say in defense of this method that flaws can be found here, but they are almost invisible compared to a direct opening in the Word. Here, even the drawings do not fit on the text, but stand exactly as they should be. So if you work through a text editor, then it's better through SmallPDF.
But remember that only 2 operations per hour are available for free. If you want to perform a third operation, then you will see a countdown timer when this option becomes available to you. But if this business is on stream for you, then I recommend purchasing paid access. Still, it's quite inexpensive.
Pseudo editors
I noticed that many people like to list a huge list of applications and online services for editing text in PDF documents, but in reality this is not quite what end users are counting on. As a rule, you can insert new images there, write new text, but it is not possible to edit existing content there.
In general, according to my observations, the methods that I described above are the best for our needs, so I suggest you use them. Although my search does not end there, and if I find something new, then I will definitely share this information with you.
