Windows data backup software. Data backup programs

Everyone solves the problem of backing up data in their own way: some use an external HDD for this, others copy everything important to CDs and DVDs, some prefer to have an "extra" internal hard drive, where they dump files and folders from time to time. But after all, by and large, the problem of backup is not where to create a copy of important data, but in remembering to do it. Every person working at a computer has important files that are often changed and supplemented. These can be Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, files that store settings for various programs - from a disk cataloger database to user browser profiles. Such files are much more valuable than movies, videos, music and other data that are downloaded by gigabytes from the Web and written to backup media. Burning a movie once downloaded onto a disc is a simple matter. But the daily creation of copies of constantly changing working files is a rather troublesome task, and few people are so organized that they constantly remember the need for a backup and make it. In today's review, we will look at programs that eliminate the need to remember to constantly save a copy of important data. Moreover, we will focus only on those of them that have a free status.

File Backup Watcher Free is a simplified version of a commercial utility produced by the same company. There are few features in the free version, but for some they may be quite enough. The program interface is represented by three tabs, which can be used to draw a conclusion about its main functions - "Backup", "CD / DVD recorder" and ZIP. So, in addition to data backup, the program is able to record to optical media and work with ZIP archives. However, all three main functions exist separately. In other words, you will not be able to configure the program to automatically compress file copies and write them to disk.

In order for the program to back up, you need to create a profile. The step-by-step wizard will not let you get confused in the settings - first, the name of the profile is selected, then the folder is indicated, the files from which you want to copy. In this case, you can specify whether nested directories should be taken into account. After that, a folder is selected in which the backups will be stored. File Backup Watcher Free does not provide the ability to back up to CD/DVD or to a network drive, so such a folder can only be located on one of the local drives. The USB drive connected to the computer is also not in the list of devices. The last step of the wizard configures the task scheduler. In order to see its settings, you need to select the automatic copying method. The scheduler is made very convenient: each month, day of the week, day, hour and minute has its own button. By pressing the desired buttons, you can specify the time at which the files will be copied.

After the profile is created, its name is displayed on the first tab of the program. Even if the automatic copying method is selected for the profile, the task can be started manually using the button on the program toolbar or the F5 key. For more convenient management of profiles, the program provides the ability to organize them into folders. True, you cannot launch all profiles by clicking on the folder name - to do this, you will have to open the folder and select all the profile names. If you have created tasks that File Backup Watcher Free should run on a schedule, the program can be placed in the tray and it will silently run in the specified mode. When a program is active, its icon is grey-green. If you need to temporarily postpone the execution of tasks, you can simply click on the icon and select the "Pause" command from the menu. The icon will turn grey-red and the operation will be paused. When performing a backup, File Backup Watcher Free places a copy of the source directory in the specified folder, adding the date and time of copying to its name. When copying again, the program simply creates a new folder with a different name. Thus, the task of deleting old backups falls on the user's shoulders - after a while there may be too many of them. You will have to manually burn the saved copies to DVD or archive them. Both tabs - "CD / DVD recorder" and ZIP - have a file manager. On the archiver tab, it has a single panel - by selecting files, they can be packed or unzipped using the buttons on the toolbar or commands in the context menu.

On the tab for burning discs, the file manager is represented by two panels - on the first one, all files on the hard disk are displayed, on the second one, you can form the contents of the disk by dragging files and folders onto it with the mouse. It is important to note that File Backup Watcher Free can not only burn discs but also create ISO files.

In general, despite the limited functionality, File Backup Watcher Free is a fairly convenient and simple backup solution. It can be safely recommended to anyone who is used to storing copies of files on a second hard drive. In the event of a failure of the main hard drive, you will surely appreciate the work of the program.

This program has an incredibly fast installation (the whole process takes just a few seconds) and a lively character. Immediately after installation, Back2zip creates a new backup task automatically, assuming that you keep the most important files in your "My Documents" folder. In addition, the program creates a MyBackup folder on drive F (if you don't have one, it may choose some other one) and immediately starts copying the contents of the "My Documents" directory into it. The fact that Back2zip is actively working can be guessed from the animation of the tray icon. In a word, the first thing to do after starting the program is to delete the automatically created task. Back2zip is built on the principle of "you can't imagine it easier". There are no familiar wizards here - all operations can be performed directly in the main program window. First, by clicking on the Add Folder button, the folder whose contents you want to monitor is indicated (it can also be added by simply dragging and dropping from the file manager), then using the Select Folder button, the folder is selected in which copies will be saved. It can be located not only on a local drive, but also on a network drive. USB drives are also supported.

As the developers of the program rightly note in the documentation, "there is no third step in setting up the program", after the first two it is ready to work. Simplicity, however, has its downside. First, there can only be one folder for saving copies, and if you change it, it changes for all jobs. Secondly, backup cannot be started for only one task - all are performed at once. Back2zip has a task scheduler where you can choose the interval for saving copies - from 20 minutes to 6 hours. In addition, you can limit the running time of the program, for example, allow it to make copies only at night.

It is worth paying attention to the settings for creating copies. First, Back2zip can archive files in ZIP format, and the user can even choose the compression level.

Secondly, the program is able to save previous copies. In its settings, you can specify the time during which copies of files will be saved - from a day to two weeks. All copies older than the selected period will be automatically deleted. If you wish, you can disable the ability to save early copies, and then each time the old files will be replaced by new ones. Despite the fact that all tasks are saved in one folder, you can not get confused in them. Back2zip works like this: in the directory chosen to copy the data, it creates a folder named exactly the same as the folder being copied. A directory is created in it, the name of which consists of the current date, and files are already placed in it. If you have chosen to keep previous copies in the settings, there are several folders with dates. In general, the program made a very good impression: the interface is simple and convenient, we were pleased with the possibility of archiving files and automatically deleting old copies.

The Copier consists of three separate utilities, which is a bit confusing at first. The first of them is responsible for compiling backup tasks, the second one is responsible for their execution, the third one contains the program settings. Each of the three utilities can be run separately. The first component that you will get acquainted with after installing the program is the "Task Editor". With its help, tasks are compiled, that is, it is indicated what, where and when to copy. The result of work in the "Job Editor" is a database file with the Dat extension, which is saved and then loaded into the main module of The Copier. The Job Editor window includes four tabs. First you need to select a name for the task, then on the "Archive" tab, add files and folders, copies of which you want to save. One task can contain a whole list of files and folders, you can also use regular expressions. For example, to copy all files in a folder that have a doc extension, add the line Drive:Folder:*.doc. You can also use exceptions. This is convenient if the folder contains files of different types, and you need to copy all but one or two types. Exceptions are indicated in a special field in *.exe format. If you do not uncheck the "Apply to the entire list" checkbox, then they will be valid for all folders that are selected for copying.

On the same tab, you need to specify the name of the archive in which copies of the files will be saved, and the path to it on the disk. The name can be created by mask. *Y in the name means the year in the format of four digits, *y is the year in the format of the last two digits, *M is the month, *D is the day, etc. (all available masks and their values can be found in the help file). The archive name can include any combination of wildcards. For example, if the backup is performed on October 11, then the saved archive that uses the mask *D*M.zip will be named 1110.zip. The "Copies" tab is designed to select folders to which you want to copy important files. You can select several folders (located on your computer's hard drives or on the local network) and specify the frequency of saving for each. You can create copies daily or on specified days of the week. If you select Odd/Even, backups will be saved to different folders on odd and even days. On the "Additional copies" tab, you can specify the folders to which you want to copy the previously saved archives. Thus, we are dealing with double data storage - first, the main files are copied to a safe place and placed in an archive, and then a copy is created for this archive. Such copies can be created at the end of each week, month, quarter or year. If desired, the original archive can be automatically deleted. On the "Commands" tab, you can set different actions to be performed before or after the backup. Commands can be external or internal. The internal ones include copying, moving, renaming and deleting files, and the external ones include launching various applications. After completing the work on the task, it is saved, after which it opens in the main module of The Copier. You need to do this only once - then the program remembers the path to the file and opens it automatically. It should be noted that one data file can contain several tasks, each of which has its own archive parameters, folders to which it is saved, etc. From the main program window, you can start the backup manually, view and print the report.

To change the report parameters and make other changes, you need to refer to the settings window. It defines the schedule by which the copy is performed. Here you can choose not only the frequency of creating copies of files, but also the time of day. The scheduler settings are quite flexible - you can copy on all days except weekends, on selected days of the week or month, once a day when the program starts, etc. Right there, in the settings, the parameters for creating an archive are indicated, such as the degree of compression, the creation of a self-extracting archive, saving empty directories, encoding file names. If you plan to back up large amounts of data, it makes sense to specify the size of a single volume. It can be equal, for example, to the size of a CD. Also interesting is the ability to choose the behavior of the program after the backup is performed. It can email the report, print it, close it, and even turn off the computer.

Among the shortcomings of The Copier, it is worth noting a slightly confusing scheme of work (it would be more logical to organize it within a single utility, rather than creating several) and the inability to load several data files at the same time. In other words, if you want to create several different backup jobs that must be constantly running, you need to put them in one data file, otherwise you will have to constantly load one DAT file into The Copier, then another.

This program is so functional that it can adequately compete with many commercial counterparts. The user gets the opportunity to create different tasks for backup, separately configure each of them, run in manual or automatic modes. The window for adding a new task contains a number of tabs on which the complete configuration of the backup project is performed. As many as five data saving modes are available.

In addition to simple copying, Comodo BackUp offers file transfer (after that, the original files will not be available in the old place), copying with subsequent deletion of old copies, transfer with deletion of old copies. In addition, there is an interesting synchronization mode in which the backup is not scheduled, but in real time. As soon as the program commits changes to the source file, it immediately creates a copy of it. When using this mode, the scheduler does not need to be enabled, but if you have chosen any other backup method, then you will need it. The scheduler is very flexible and allows you to copy on certain days of the week, months and days of the month. The start time of copying is also indicated. In addition, it is possible to execute the task periodically, after a specified number of hours, when the program is started or when it is closed. Comodo BackUp may not just copy all the files from the selected folder. In the project settings, you can specify whether nested folders should be taken into account, if necessary, specify which nested directories should be excluded from the task. It is also possible to exclude some files by selecting their type, specifying attributes, minimum or maximum size. You can do the opposite, that is, specify not exceptions, but masks for files that should be copied.

Backup copies of data can be stored not only on a local or network drive, but also on a USB drive, FTP server, or burned to CD / DVD. If you choose to burn to a CD, the program can set a volume label and erase the data that is already written to the disc.

On the Options tab, very important parameters are set that relate to saving copies of files. Comodo BackUp can work both in full backup mode and incremental. In the first case, each time the job is executed, the data will be copied in full. In the case of an incremental backup, a complete copy of the data is only created the first time, and then only those files that have changed since the previous backup are backed up.

When working with different data, it often happens that you need to restore an old copy of a file, because important information has been accidentally overwritten, deleted, or edited in the new one. Therefore, it makes sense to keep multiple backups. Their number is indicated in the Number of Version field. Files can be copied in their original form or packed into a ZIP archive. Comodo BackUp supports choosing the degree of compression, as well as adding a password to open the file. For convenience, variable data such as date and time can be used in the archive name. The same applies to the name of the folder where backups are saved. The execution of Comodo BackUp tasks can be linked to the launch of other applications. For example, you can select an application that should be launched before the backup is performed or immediately after it is completed. To verify that all backup options are entered correctly, you can test the job on the Test tab. If some data is missing, for example, it is not indicated where to save copies, the program will display an appropriate message, and you can correct the error.

Conclusion

Among the free backup software, you can easily choose the one that suits you. Of the applications reviewed in the review, File Backup Watcher Free 2.8 has the least backup options, but this program has tools for burning CDs and creating ISO files. Back2zip is a good solution if you don't have a lot of important files to copy. In this case, the limitations associated with the inability to run jobs individually and select different destination folders will not seem critical. The Copier has a slightly confusing scheme of work, but it makes it possible to organize backups of large amounts of data. By creating several jobs within the same database, you can set your copy options for each of them. Noteworthy is the possibility of creating an additional copy of the data archive. Finally, Comodo BackUp is quite a professional backup solution. This program has the ability to upload copies to an FTP server, and burn to CDs, and select files for backup based on their attributes, size and type.

Recently, a friend of mine asked me to explain to her how to back up data. She is a humanitarian, so she needed options in which nothing needs to be configured. Since she is not a stupid person who likes to understand the problem and make decisions herself, I decided to collect the basic principles for her and describe the pros and cons of certain options (as I see them). I decided to publish here in case that it will come in handy for some of you - to help a friend or relative. I would be very glad to comments on how the text could be made simpler and clearer.

Basic principles

1. Regularity and frequency
Backup data should be as regular as taking pills. It is for this discipline that one can thank oneself if some kind of collapse suddenly occurred. Sometimes losing even just a few working days due to the fact that the backup was not done can be very painful. To answer the question - how often it is possible to backup, having understood the data for which period of time it would be the least painful for you to lose. One of the best options is to backup data once a week on weekends.
separateness
It is desirable that the data be stored on a separate external hard drive (or other media), stored in a separate place from the main data. The principle is quite obvious - if a problem occurs, it will be localized in one place. For example, if the hard drive on your computer is broken, the backup drive will function just fine. However, there is a balance to be struck between ease of access and security. A hard drive next to a computer significantly increases the motivation to use it for its intended purpose. And at the same time, this is not the safest option for very important data that cannot be lost in any case. That is why there is a distinction between data backup and data archiving.
recheck
As soon as the first backup copy of the data is made, you must immediately check that this data can be restored from it! This means not only that the files become visible. You need to open several files to choose from and check that they are not corrupted. It is desirable to repeat such a check then once in a certain period (say, once a year).
distinction
The best practice is to differentiate data by category. The category could be their importance to you, the frequency of updates, or just the topic.

Often, backup programs make so-called "images" (image). They look like one single file. So in each such image it is better to save different data.

What is it for. Data of different importance requires different handling of itself, this is obvious. You will probably want to store your important documents more carefully than, say, a collection of films. By dividing data by update frequency, you can, for example, save time taken by backups. Topic - what data is it desirable to restore together in one step? A vivid example of two types of backup that should be done separately:

Data backup
These are Word documents, photos, movies, etc. The same applies to this, but often forgotten - bookmarks in the browser, letters in the mailbox, address book, calendar with appointments, banking application configuration file, etc.
System backup
We are talking about the operating system with all its settings. Such a backup eliminates the need to reinstall the operating system, make all the settings, install programs. However, this is not the most necessary type of backup.

Where to backup

1. External hard drive. Often you can buy directly in the box. There are notebook ones - such disks are small in size, but more expensive. Ordinary hard drives can be bought relatively cheaply with a capacity of 2 TB - then you won’t have to worry about disk space for a long time.

Reliable enough (if not dropped or shaken excessively)
+ Relatively inexpensive

You must remember to connect the disk for backup yourself
-Not very convenient to carry (does not apply to laptop drives)

2. USB-stick - suitable as an additional tool when you would like to transfer data from one computer to another and / or have it at hand. Also, if the data itself does not want to be stored on a computer.
There is one big but - a flash drive has a limited number of entries, so if you store application data on it that will write intensively, then the flash drive (usb stick) will quickly die. In addition, in my personal experience, they break quite often. My friend, buying the most expensive flash drives, which were positioned as "not killed", received a broken flash drive in a month or two. To be fair, I must say that so far not a single flash drive has broken, some have been working for 5 years. Nevertheless, I would not store data on just one usb-stick.

Mobile storage
+ Takes up little space
+Very cheap

Unpredictable Reliability

3. Data storage on a remote server (or in the cloud).

There are pros and cons:

Data will be available not only at home, but also at work, while traveling.
+ Location separation of main data and backups (for example, if it happens, God forbid, a fire, the data survives)
+ There is no need to connect a hard drive for backup, as a rule, everything is done completely automatically.

It is advisable to encrypt the data, since it is not known who can access it
- A large amount of traffic is spent (if it is limited, then problems arise)
-Often, you can only store data up to 2 GB for free. So, such a backup is an additional expense item.

A list with a good description of the services can be found

How to backup

Here is a list of applications that you should pay attention to (in my opinion) when backing up to a hard drive.

Of the free ones are popular

1. Genie Backup Manager is a very handy program, but it slows down a little when working
2. Handy Backup - simple interface, fast.

Additionally

Often in the backup program settings there is an option - to make an incremental or differential backup. The practical difference is quite simple. With differential backup, you can save on the space it occupies. But there are only two recovery options: data in the state when the full backup was made + data at the time when the differential backup was made.

Incremental backup allows you to roll back to any of the moments in the past when the backup was made. However, especially if data changes occur frequently, space will be eaten up quickly.

Special project with Acronis

We all sooner or later face the need for a backup. And trust me, better early than late. Once upon a time, in 2009, I lost all my data. I then made backups on DVD-R/RW, which was not very convenient, so they were rarely made. Part of the data was sent by colleagues (it’s good that they kept it), but a lot of things were lost. Since that time, I regularly make backups, and today we will talk about finding the perfect product for the family budget.

Where will we store backups?

Before choosing software, you need to decide where we will store the backup. You know, DVD-R is not good for backup. Firstly, a small volume, secondly, slowly, thirdly - noisy. And since I switched to laptops a very long time ago and I don’t recognize stationary ones at all (although they are available on the farm), I had to buy several external drives. First, 250 GB, then a larger volume.

I did not consider the cloud for one simple reason - there is not enough space:

You understand that even 15 GB is not enough, especially if the minimum size of an external screw available on the farm is 250 GB. Extra space? Of course, it would be possible to give $ 2 a month for 100 GB of Google Drive or $ 10 for an additional 1 TB, but 100 GB will not save me, and 1 TB is too expensive. Ideally, 500 GB would be suitable for 2-3 dollars per month 🙂

Later, two Android smartphones and one tablet appeared in the family, from which backups were also made from time to time to an external screw, in the old fashioned way (after all, I was used to just such a process). Here one could safely use the cloud, but habit is a strong thing.

Search for backup software

Here we come to the most interesting. What to do backup?

In principle, the free Clonezilla can be used. The capabilities of this program, if not impressive, then at least quite good. Here are some of them that I consider the most important:

  • support for Linux/macOS/Windows file systems: ext2 to ext4, xfs, jfs, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, HFS (macOS);
  • MBR and GPT support;
  • support for data encryption (AES 256);
  • the ability to deploy one image to multiple local devices;
  • support for SSH, Samba, WebDAV and NFS.

If you need to make a backup in a corporate environment of a server, and even on a ball, you won’t find a better option. For cloning systems in the case of deploying one OS to many machines with the same configuration, it’s the most: they brought a fleet of computers, put an axis on one of them, set everything up, made its image and deployed it to other computers. Admin dream!

I have also been familiar with Acronis products for a long time, but mainly with server versions. I won’t compare them with Clonezilla now, since we are talking about a home backup: after all, at home there are one or two computers and several Android devices, you don’t need to constantly create images of all these devices. In general, CloneZilla is not suitable for the home. Once, I remember, I made a backup at home with it, when I changed the system disk to a larger disk and I was too lazy to reinstall all systems. Then this program, of course, saved me.

CloneZilla is a good program, but it's 2016 and I want something more modern, but it's stuck in the past. I want some kind of automation, backup management from all devices, including mobile devices, I want to copy photos from my profile on social networks, I want to search inside the backup in order to find the desired file. Want a lot of things. Sometimes I even think about buying a NAS just for storing backups.

Actually, I started looking for the perfect software for myself. I came across at one time the "File History" function in Windows 8/10. I somehow missed the "eight", and the "ten" is installed on only one computer. Although the “File History” was created in the image and likeness of Apple Time Machine and should be convenient, in practice it turned out to be not very convenient to use it, moreover, it is not compatible with computers running the “seven” and Android smartphones.

If anyone is interested, while I was looking for the right software, all this time I was making backups using Total Commander by simply copying files. But it's very inconvenient. Firstly, no automation: you need to go to each computer with an external screw and make a backup. Secondly, the irrational use of space. I didn't use compression. Why? Yes, because I periodically need to search for information on the backup. Have you tried looking for something in an archive several GB in size?

Quite by accident, I remembered Acronis True Image and found that version 2017 was released. Let's see what it can do now:

It looks like the perfect backup software exists! However, it’s not very ideal, but I’ll talk about the shortcomings later, but for now I’ll brag about its capabilities: Acronis True Image 2017 is a completely modern backup program, and unlike ancient software like CloneZilla, it has everything that a modern person might need. Here's what I really liked...

First, saving space on the screws that are used for backup. The backup is made in a compressed form, but Acronis allows you to search inside the backup.

Secondly, now I don't have to worry about data on mobile devices. Over the past two years, two microSD cards have failed: one on my wife's phone, the other on a tablet. From one photo it was possible to save at least partially, from the second - no, she "died" completely. Acronis True Image 2017 allows you to backup an unlimited number of Android/iOS mobile devices to your local computer.

Thirdly, you can (as I have already noted) remotely manage the backup on all home devices. Using the web panel, you can check the status of backups and set up real-time data protection.

Fourth, there is support for copying Facebook profile content. A lot of information is now published on social networks: photos, videos, comments. A backup of this data will protect against page hacking or accidental deletion.

Finally, focus on the cloud. I couldn't even imagine that Acronis had such powerful cloud support: by purchasing a subscription, you get 500 GB of cloud space! This volume is quite enough for me for home purposes (unless, of course, I upload entire hard disk images to the cloud, although Acronis allows this).

About the disadvantages

Everything has its drawbacks. I hope the Acronis developers will heed the criticism. Personally, I didn't like two things about the program.

The first is the lack of Linux support. The data that is stored in Linux will have to be done the old fashioned way: either by copying, or with the help of Clonezilla by creating an image of a data partition (fortunately, I have / home on a separate partition out of habit).

The second is the lack of support for other social networks besides Facebook. I think, however, that over time it will appear. Whether and here there will be a support of Linux is a question. Of course, Acronis has a Linux Server product, but I don’t want to use it for several reasons: firstly, using the server version for home use is tantamount to firing a cannon at sparrows, and secondly, I don’t want to pay for another product (and this is a minimum 792 rubles per month), and thirdly, I want everything to be managed from one product.

About price

We all know that Acronis has never been free. However, the prices also pleasantly surprised me: the official website has a calculator that allows you to find out how much Acronis will cost you.

A one-time license for 1 computer (the number of mobile devices is unlimited) will cost 1,700 rubles (about $27 at the current exchange rate). But it is more profitable to buy a subscription: in this case, you will get both the program itself and 500 GB of cloud storage. The cost of a subscription for a year will cost 1400 rubles. (~$22), for two years - only 2000 r (~$32), which is about $1.83 or $1.33 per month. For that kind of money, you can only buy 100 GB of Google Drive! And here I got an excellent tool for backup + 500 GB in the cloud.

If we calculate a more realistic configuration: 3 computers and 1 TB in the cloud, then a subscription for a year will cost 2400 rubles, and for 2 years - 3600 rubles. Only 150 rubles per month compared to 600 rubles for 1 TB of Google Drive! As for me, the conclusion was obvious. 150 rubles - the amount is quite affordable for a home user, this will not hit the family budget.

An overview of the best data backup software. Download the best free and paid data backup software.

Everyone knows that it is necessary to make constant backups of our data. Most often, we postpone this procedure “for later” and sometimes find ourselves in a situation where it is impossible or extremely expensive to restore valuable photos and documents. I suggest you take 5 minutes to read my article and another 10 minutes to install one of the 5 backup software to set up a backup of your data to an external hard drive or "cloud". You will never regret spending 15 minutes of your life, because such a short time will guarantee the safety of your photos and important data. Undoubtedly, you can manually save the necessary data to external media, but why not entrust this routine procedure to the program? Moreover, many of the backup programs mentioned in the review are absolutely free.

In this article I want to talk about the problem of saving data.

We all once face the fact that we need to save important information, whether it be photos, text documents, 1C: Enterprise databases of all configurations, or any other important information for us. Many users do not want to waste their time or do not know how to write a small batch file correctly to copy their data. That's why there are small programs for backing up various data. You can read more about backup.

I encountered the need for automatic backup when I needed to copy databases from 1C:Enterprise every day. When searching for a program that is convenient and meets my requirements, I found what I need - this is the Cobian Backup 11 program. This program turned out to have a very clear and not complicated interface, and most importantly, it is free, which is very good in our time.

1. Installing the program

And so we proceed to the installation of the program. Download the distribution package of the program from the official site and run the downloaded file. On the first page of the installer, select the language you need and click "Further" .

On the next page, we will be prompted to read the license agreement and accept the terms of this agreement. Click "Further" .

Before us appears here is a window with a choice: where and what to install.

  • "Shadow Copy Initiator" serves to copy files, even when they are open or in use by applications. I recommend installing it, but if you need a backup for one time, then in principle you can not install the shadow copy initiator. The Shadow Copy Initiator requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 to be installed. How to install a .NET Framework component in , read.
  • "Install Script" is needed in order to remember all the parameters of the current installation, and at the next installation, do the same without your participation.

By default, we are offered to install this program as a service, I recommend leaving everything as it is if you use it on a server or on a computer where there are several users. Firstly, as a service, the program will work even if no one has logged in, and secondly, the program will be able to use network resources to store data on an ftp server, on another local computer on your network, or on a network storage.

If you need it, for example, for a one-time use or you do not have to access it too often, you can choose any of the items of your choice.

When installing the program as a service, you must specify the administrator account and password.

Everything, the installation is completed.

2.Program setting

Let's proceed to the main task of setting up a backup task. Run the program, choose from the menu "Exercise" , then "New assignment".

The New Job Creation Wizard will start. Here we set "Name" tasks, set the necessary checkboxes and select "Copy type» .

Go to tab "Files", then press "Add" to specify what to copy and where.

Specify the file, directory or folder on the ftp server that you need to copy. We also indicate where to copy by choosing from the list. Everyone should understand that making a backup and saving it to the same hard drive, if it physically crashes, nullifies all your efforts, it will be problematic to restore information, if you save it to different disk partitions, it will save you only in cases where you crash section where the main information is located or when deleting. Therefore, try to save it to an independent medium, such as a network storage, an external hard drive, a flash drive, or to a computer located on the same network, and of course, to an ftp server.

Go to bookmark "Schedule". As you can see, the settings here are for any occasion of life, you can set it up as you like: at least once a year, at least every day at a certain time.

Go to tab "Cyclic". Z Here you can set the priority of your job and to save space you can set the number of full copies to keep.

Go to tab "Compression" and specify what compression and division into parts of your files we need.

3. Conclusion

In general, I really liked this program, I think many will like it. A very clear and simple interface will not cause problems with setting up those tasks that you may need in everyday life.
