A program to disconnect the phone. Download Sleep Timer for Android

On many Android smartphones and tablets, the screen turns off after 30 seconds of user inactivity. As a rule, this is the best option in which you can comfortably use the device and economically consume its battery. But there are times when you need to disable hibernation when an application is running. Since it is impossible to do this using standard Android tools, we will tell you how to implement it in other ways.
To begin with, let's define why we might need to disable the screen timeout, because the extra screen time leads to a fast battery drain? For example, you are reading an article in a browser or watching a video on YouTube, pause and after a minute your device is already sound asleep. Or another option - you use your smartphone as a remote control or show slides. Thus, the most common cases where a permanently active screen is required are:

  • reading e-books, documents, other text information;
  • viewing photo and video materials;
  • demonstration of something on the smartphone screen;
  • games, the gameplay of which does not require active actions;
  • work with GPS and cartographic programs.
Some programs and games do an excellent job on their own. Usually, in many readers, video players and other applications in the settings there is an option that prevents the device from falling asleep. But not in all. In such cases, the easiest way is to set a longer screen timeout for the active mode in the system settings. But, you must admit, this is not even so much inconvenient as it is irrational. Therefore, we will do it differently and will use third-party tools to fine-tune the lock screen.

Method 1. Xposed module

This method requires a dedicated runtime on the device and installed. The module that we need to connect to the Xposed Framework is called Stay Awake - Keep On Screen... It makes it easy to disable the screen lock on certain apps and revert to previous screen timeout settings.

How to download and install Stay Awake - Keep On Screen:
After all these steps, you can use the function to enable / disable hibernation at the system level for each application. It works very simply. To prevent the screen from turning off, simply hold down both volume buttons in any active application. You will see the inscription "Stay Awake Enable" - this means that the screen in the current application will be on all the time.

The use of this module is convenient because it remembers in which applications you turned off the screen timeout, and you can return everything back at any time by simply pressing the volume buttons. This function works even at the level of the native launcher.

Method 2. Applications

This application in the Russian-language Google Play is known as the "Everlasting Screen". A small utility with a nice design has one single function - to prevent the device from going into sleep mode when the selected applications are running. To activate it, simply launch Keep Screen On and mark the necessary applications, during which you want to keep the screen on at all times.

The utility can work with all programs installed on the device, including system services. The advantage of Keep Screen On is its ease of use and the fact that the app is completely free and contains no ads.

Another free, but more functional application called Stay Alive !, which also manages the screen timeout. The utility allows you to set the rules for turning off the screen not only for selected applications, but also for those programs and system services that were not checked. At the same time, Stay Alive! does not have any filters or additional options for applications and shows all software components installed on the device in the general list. And if you have installed, for example, 100+ applications, then it is better to use the search. A feature of the utility is that it allows you not to turn off the screen, even when a specific program is not running, but is running in the background.

Stay Alive! has several modes of operation:
  • active mode while charging the device;
  • active mode during charging and when operating on battery power;
  • pause mode (inactive mode);
  • automatic mode with rules for selected applications.
They are switched using a small panel that is hidden behind a curtain.

Admittedly, Stay Alive! fulfills its main task at 5+. The application not only prohibits the device from going into sleep mode, but offers individual settings for different conditions. For example, you can prevent the screen from turning off when charging, when connected to a car dock, or completely disable the screen timeout altogether. Beyond that, Stay Alive! can pause when the battery charge reaches a specified percentage.

Among the additional features is the very useful "Allow the screen to dim" option, which allows you to dim the screen, but not turn it off completely.

The only downside to Stay Alive! Are paid features, the most important of which is application startup. So, if you are using the free version, you will have to manually launch the utility every time you turn on / restart the device.

How do you configure the screen timeout of your mobile device? And have you ever had to prevent the screen from turning off in certain programs?

Description:

The app is more for tablets than phones. The name speaks for itself - scheduled shutdown... With it, you can specify when and at what time the device needs to turn off. At first glance, where can it come in handy? For example, when watching a movie or listening to music, or if you want your child not to play for more than the allotted time. The application is very easy to use. You can download this application from our website. To work, you need to have superuser rights (ROOT), if you do not have them, then the application most likely will not work. Also, the application for some reason only works when the Internet is on.

Main screen:

On the main screen, you need to select one of the shutdown options:
- every day at the specified time;
- weekly on the specified day of the week and time;
- once at the selected date and time;
- and when the critical battery charge level is reached.
In the selected option, you need to select the date and time at which the device will turn off. Also in the settings you can change the color scheme and set the time after which the device will turn off after reaching the timer.

Conclusion:

I only see one rational use of the application scheduled shutdown- this is the shutdown of the device when a certain level of battery charge is reached. After some tests, I can say with confidence that the application is fully working out its functions, but constantly pop-up annoying ads just infuriate me. The application does not deserve more than 2 points.

In fact, this article is a continuation of our previous publication, in which we touched on ways to improve the operating time of a mobile device on the Android operating system. During this time, I managed to find several good programs that allow you to more subtly and intelligently manage the power consumption of the device. One app can help you save battery in a simple and efficient way. Second, it will detect a gluttonous program and even indicate the subprocess responsible for the increased consumption.

Go Power Master App

"Smart" enable and disable wireless interfaces

As I wrote earlier, the main problem of the device's energy efficiency is a user who forgets to turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and data transmission over a cellular network. Everything is clear - we humans cannot boast of the order inherent in machines. However, this problem can be solved. For example, install the Go Power Master software.

This wonderful application is able to turn off the wireless interfaces on a timer after turning off the screen. Set, for example, a minute and your phone, when you will not use it, will turn off Wi-Fi by itself. You will notice the savings immediately.

The Go Power Master app has a number of other useful qualities as well. For example, the paid version can not only turn off wireless connections on a timer, but also turn them on from time to time to check mail and synchronize. By default, it does this every 30 minutes.

Management of operating modes

Go Power Master has a number of mechanisms to save energy by using it more efficiently. For example, you can set a schedule to turn Economy Mode on and off at night. If your phone doesn’t allow you to configure it to turn on and off on a schedule, this feature will come in very handy.

We remove unnecessary energy consumers

Go Power Master allows you to analyze the rating of the strongest energy consumers and, if necessary, turn off applications hanging in the background to save batteries. These settings are ambiguous for me. The fact is that it would be more correct to configure the application for the correct operation mode, if you really need it. All social network clients, for example, have a setting for the frequency of synchronization. Maybe it's better to understand the settings of individual programs than to massively "kill" background applications every time?

The possibilities of the Power Go PRO version can also be obtained in a way other than transferring money. You can simply download and start using several programs from their partners. This required me to download five applications. One of them, by the way, stuck on my tablet.

There is an important note. When using such programs that can turn off Wi-Fi in idle mode on a timer, do not forget about automatic application updates. The programs start to automatically update, and then the connection is turned off and the installation of new versions of the programs ends with an error. In this situation, I advise you to turn off automatic updates and manually update programs once a week.

Wakelock Detector-Save battery app

Actually, it is easy to find out the main consumers of energy using systemic means. In the "settings" find the item "battery". There will be shown all applications that "eat" the battery more than others. But the reason is not indicated there. To find the reasons for the increased battery consumption, a special Wakelock Detector program was written. The algorithm is simple. Installing the program. After the next charging, we use the phone as usual. When a sufficiently long period of time has passed, look at the Wakelock Detector report.

One of the main reasons for the increased power consumption lies in the constant disruption of the "sleep" of our device. This happens because the programs hanging in the background sometimes try to update something from the network or synchronize something.

The most common examples are checking e-mail or the weather forecast. It was on the frequent weather update that I managed to catch Yandex.Shell after it began to eat too much battery after the next update. I expanded the Yandex.Shell line in the list of applications that “wake up” the phone and found that it was the weather update service that woke the phone up.

To make the application show subprocesses, check the "advanced mode" checkbox in its settings!

We've looked at two more apps that can help you extend battery life on your mobile device. Go Power Master claims to stay in your phone for a long time. Wakelock Detector is still a service utility - you need to find out the thief of battery power - downloaded and then deleted.

Whether it's old or new gadgets, they break, and smartphones are no exception. A simple fall onto a hard surface is enough to cause damage.

Smartphones are fragile in nature. Even if they don't break, they are prone to many problems. One such problem, which is very common among Android users, is when the power button stops working.

Think about it, the power button - the button we press countless times a day - stops working. This is enough to create chaos in our lives. When you press the button again and again - which is to be expected - it will stop working one day.
This does not happen to everyone, but those who encounter this problem know how it complicates the phone. Here are some solutions to this annoying problem.

1. Automation on / off function with Gravity Screen.

Gravity Screen is an awesome app. Using different phone sensors turns the screen on and off. A feature like a pocket or table sensor sensor is designed to detect when you are holding your phone and when not. It learns to understand when you are going to use the phone, and according to this, turns it on or off, to be honest, it always works, but the accuracy can vary from device to device.

If you're not particularly interested in how the app works and you just want it to turn your phone on and off, then go ahead and download it and it will work great without over-draining your battery if you set it up correctly.

2. Moto display

The app is limited in that it can only be used by owners of Motorola devices, but we had to add it to the list because it's just awesome.
In Moto display, you can see notifications without turning on the phone. But it can be used for more than just viewing notifications. Just don't touch your phone for a few seconds, then pick it up and you will see the Moto display turn on. At this point, you can swipe down towards the lock icon to unlock it. Works great.

Moto dispay does not block the phone, it must be done manually. But since the power button does not work, we recommend setting the phone sleep time to a minimum, that is, 15 seconds.

3. Transfer the Power On / Off to the volume button

Yes, you read that right, there is an app for that too, and the best thing is that it works even if the phone is not rooted. This application is called Volume Unlock Power Button Fix, that is, “unlock the volume, fix the power key”. This is a very, very long name, but it completely defines the purpose of the application.

First of all, install it on your phone. Now open the application and give it administrator rights. This is necessary, otherwise the application will not work. Open the app and turn on "Enable Volume Unlock" and "Screen off" using the toggles on the right. If you have both options enabled, then you can turn off the screen in the notification panel and turn it on using the volume button.
In the app's settings, you can also enable features such as auto-start at boot and auto-enable / disable, which will run at a set time interval. For example, by setting the time from 06:00 to 04:00, the application will function only during this time.
We have been using it for 2 days and have not found any unnecessary draining of the battery. This is an amazing app.

Smart Screen On Off app is a simple utility to automatically turn the screen on or off using the proximity sensor and double tap on the home screen instead of manually pressing the power button.

Sometimes it can be tricky to press the power button, or you want to keep the physical power button. The Smart Screen On Off app can help you minimize the use of the power button anytime, anywhere.
