The program has few possibilities, but it is much more convenient to use it than its other counterparts.

Advantages:

the interface is intuitive and does not take time to master;
the program is written competently, does not generate errors and successfully builds rather complex graphs.

Flaws:

the program requires the Visual Basic 5.0 libraries;
there is no way to plot a graph in polar coordinates;
you cannot find the equation of the tangent, integral or derivative;
extremum points can only be searched manually;
to save the plotted graph as a drawing, you have to take a screenshot;
the multi-document interface (MDI) is practically useless for this kind of program and only confuses the user.

Advanced grapher

Size: 1 MB.

A powerful program that generates plots in polar and Cartesian coordinates, plots with areas, plots given by a formula or table of values. For tables of values, it can find coefficients by the regression method - an indispensable thing for high school physics laboratories. In addition to linear, it supports many other types of regression: logarithmic, power, exponential, exponential, polynomial and hyperbolic.

The program contains a built-in calculator (the same functions as in FNGraph), utilities for finding zeros and extrema of a function, derivatives, integrals, tangents, normals and graph intersections. It is convenient that you can omit the multiplication sign in the formulas, for example: y = 2x.

You can add text labels, legend, titles to the generated graphics. Multilevel undo is supported when changing chart properties. There are many options for the appearance of the axes and the grid. The graph can be printed, saved as a drawing (bmp or emf) or copied to the clipboard as a drawing.

Advantages:

a very powerful program with many settings and functions, contains everything you need to solve the most complex problems;
examples of simple and complex graphs are attached.

Flaws:

on older computers it works with noticeable delays, redraws the chart when it is not needed (for example, when switching from one window to another);
to increase / decrease the graph or to shift up and down, left and right, it is proposed to use the buttons on the toolbar (in FNGraph, this is done using the arrows and plus or minus on the keyboard, which is much more convenient, especially when working on a laptop).

Master Function

Size: 401 Kbytes.

Another simple utility for plotting charts in Cartesian coordinates. Able to calculate derivatives and indefinite integrals, find the normal and tangent equations, build a straight line from two points and a parabola from three points, solve quadratic equations. All basic functions are supported (no hyperbolic ones, but they are rarely used). You can omit the multiplication sign in formulas. The graph is saved in its own format or as a picture in BMP format. Advantages:

works fairly quickly on older computers, does not redraw the screen unnecessarily.

Advantages:

An original program for the design of mathematical and chemical formulas. The formula is entered as an expression in a programming language and is displayed according to all the design rules: a horizontal line of a fraction, variables are italicized, etc.

The result can be saved as a picture in EMF, BMP, GIF or JPEG format, copied to the clipboard in vector or raster formats. In addition, the "source text" of the formula can be saved in the repository (for later insertion into any document) or in a separate file.

The toolbar allows you to insert Greek letters, special characters, arrows, limit signs, sums and integrals, roots, matrices, and systems of equations. There are keyboard shortcuts for all operations.

Advantages:

well-thought-out language of formulas, convenient work with the program.

Flaws:

some simple formulas are not displayed quite correctly, for example: s = int (t_1, t_2, v ((t)) dt) - subscripts in the boundaries go over the integral sign
to enter the next formula, you need to remove the previous one;
MS Word files with embedded EMF formulas take up a lot of space.

Microsoft Word

There are two ways to enter a formula in Word: in the MS Equation editor and in the EQ field. The Insert® Object®Microsoft Equation menu command takes you to the formula editor, where you can enter mathematical symbols by clicking the buttons on the toolbar or type function names on the keyboard. The editor automatically recognizes functions sin, cos, ln and does not italicize them, unlike variables. (But tg is italicized, as this function is called tan in the US. You must highlight tg and press the Style® Function to display the tangent formulas correctly.)

Formulas entered in the EQ field have to be formatted manually. To do this, you need to know that variables are usually highlighted in italics (Ctrl + I), and operation signs - in Symbol (Ctrl + Shift + Q). The formula language is quite complex, but the formulas themselves take up very little space. With a certain skill, you can enter formulas in the EQ field faster than in Microsoft Equation. If you double click on this field, it will be converted to Equation format.

Microsoft Excel

Not everyone knows that in Excel it is possible to build graphs with error bars, and for this they use MathCAD or Maple. Meanwhile, this feature appeared in Excel 97. Having built the graph, double-click on one of the lines and select the Y-errors tab in the window that appears. You can set the uncertainty as a percentage or absolute fraction, or select any range of cells as values.

Compared to the same Wise Calculator, the capabilities of CNP are more than modest, but there is no need to choose - no one has released mathematical programs for DOS, especially in Russian, for a long time. The program supports trigonometric, inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions, integral sine and cosine, areasine and areacosine, logarithms, calculating the integral of probabilities, gamma function, rounding, conversion between degrees and radians. A separate program in the CNP is designed to solve systems of equations, including complex ones.

Disadvantages of the program: too "fancy" demonstration, which takes up 1 Mbyte (the program itself is unpacked - 260 Kbytes), and an ill-conceived program interface for solving equations (you have to do a lot of unnecessary keystrokes).

CNP is a shareware program ($ 25) with no trial or feature limitations.
