Full data recovery on a smartphone after Hard-reset or factory reset - Technical support. Before manual setting...

When at the end of last year I first of all paid attention to the size of the battery, I really didn’t want to charge it every evening. Then I settled on a smartphone with a 3300 mAh battery. Recently there was an opportunity to test another long-lived phone - highscreen boost with a battery capacity as much as 4160 mAh. This device will be reviewed. Sometimes I will compare Highscreen boost with Motorola Razr MAXX, and I must say that in many ways this comparison will not be in favor of the latter.

Externally, Highscreen boost looks like this.

Later we will look at it from all sides and look inside.

Iron

Let's start with dry performance numbers, then we'll talk about the parameters in more detail.

  • The screen (IPS technology, manufacturer Sharp) has a size of 4.3 inches with a capacitive sensor and multi-touch support.
  • Screen resolution 540×960 pixels (256 PPI).
  • Supported communication standards GSM 900/1800/1900, 3G.
  • Dual SIM support.
  • Processor dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225, 1400 MHz.
  • The amount of RAM is 1 GB.
  • The amount of built-in memory for data storage is 4 GB.
  • For data storage, you can use microSD cards up to 32 GB.
  • The battery is replaceable at 4160 mAh.
  • Operating system - Android 4.1.2.
  • The camera on the back of the case has a resolution of 8 megapixels (with autofocus), and on the front - 1.3 megapixels.
  • There is GPS support.
  • Supported wireless communication protocols - WiFi, Bluetooth.
  • There are light sensors, proximity and a compass.

Equipment

The phone is sold in a compact cardboard box, on which the internals of the device are drawn in a section (almost according to ESKD) and its main characteristics are written.

In addition to the smartphone itself, the kit includes headphones, a charger, a USB-microUSB cable and a brief instruction manual.

The charger is quite powerful, the output current that it gives is 1 A. This is justified, after all, the battery of the phone has a large capacity, and it would take forever to charge from low-power charging.

Also, the phone can be charged from the USB port, but given the capacity of the battery, it will be, to put it mildly, not the fastest charging.

The supplied headphones are ordinary earbuds, so you can’t expect any special sound quality and sound isolation from them. They connect using a standard 3.5mm jack, so music lovers can always plug in their favorite headphones.

No phone case is included, which is unfortunately standard practice.

Phone appearance

Now, as for the Highscreen Boost phone itself. I'm not an esthete and all sorts of "rounded edges" do not bother me much, so I have no particular complaints about its appearance. It lies comfortably in the hand.

For the same screen sizes, the Highscreen boost body is noticeably smaller than the Motorola Razr MAXX.

But in comparison with it, it is almost twice as thick and a little heavier - by 40 g (185 g versus 145 for Motorola, according to official specifications). In the next photo, Highscreen boost is on the left, Motorola Razr MAXX is on the right.

On the front panel, the phone has three touch buttons: "Menu", "Return to desktop" and "Back". There is no "Search" button, but I never used it in Motorola.

The power button is located on the right end side of the case from the top (in the next photo on the right).

Attentive readers may notice on the same side below (in the photo on the left) another button of incomprehensible purpose with a drawn figure from Tetris. I did not immediately understand that this is how the designers painted the camera. With a long press on this button, you can call up the photography application (if the phone screen is unlocked). But the most interesting thing is that this button works exactly the same as in "adult" cameras. When taking a photo, pressing this button halfway will focus on the selected area, and pressing it fully will take a photo. This button is useful if you hold your phone horizontally when taking a photo. I usually don't feel comfortable taking pictures with my phone when I have to press a button on the screen to "release the shutter".

On the other side are the volume up/down buttons.

The volume buttons (they are on the left and look like one big button) are not easy to distinguish from the influx on the body, and when you press the touch, you doubt whether you are pressing the volume up or down button. I like it better when they are separated and can be groped blindly.

On the bottom is a microUSB connector for connecting to a computer or charger. There is also a hole for the microphone.

On top is the headphone jack.

The back side looks like this:

Here from left to right are: a flash consisting of two LEDs, a camera lens and a speaker. The speaker, by the way, is quite loud, so if you don't hear a call or a message about the arrival of an SMS, it's not the phone's fault.

Unfortunately, the phone does not have indicators for missed calls and messages. In order to find out if someone called while you were in the bathroom, you will have to turn on the screen.

There are also small quibbles to the speaker through which you listen to the interlocutor. From time to time there is a feeling that it “rings”, sometimes some high frequencies skip during a conversation, as if this speaker is working at the limit of volume.

Before turning on the phone, let's take a look at its insides.

Meet this battery, it has a capacity of 4160 mAh.

From the following photo, you can roughly estimate how much battery the phone takes. Hence the thickness of Highscreen boost.

As you may have guessed, the smartphone's battery is removable (unlike the Motorola Razr MAXX battery).

But the "guts" of the phone without a battery.

At the top left are holders for two SIM-cards, a little to the right is a holder for a microSD card.

For many, it will be convenient that a normal SIM card is inserted here (formally it is called a mini-SIM), and not a "cut off" micro-SIM. So if you switch to Highscreen Boost from an old phone, then you won't have to run to a communication store to exchange a SIM card or to cut it (the Motorola Razr MAXX uses a micro-SIM, and there is no support for two SIM cards).

As for the quality of communication, there are no complaints about the phone, the interlocutor is heard normally. You can find fault with the fact that when you press the keys, the vibration (if it is turned on) is rather weak, but this is how you like it.

Now let's talk about the Highscreen boost screen. It is based on IPS technology, of course, there is support for multi-touch. Its brightness is quite enough, to save battery I switched its brightness to 50%, automatic brightness adjustment did not impress me - it somehow painfully often changes brightness. Unfortunately, due to cloudy weather, it was not possible to test how well the screen is visible in bright sunlight.

The main drawback of the screen (and, in my opinion, of the whole phone) is the not very high sensitivity of the sensor. Even though it's capacitive, you often have to press a little harder on the screen to get the phone to respond. With a weak touch on the screen, the phone does not always notice pressing.

The camera in the phone, to put it mildly, is so-so. You can see examples of photos taken with Highscreen boost at the following links:,.

Although the camera on the front is not designed for photography, but for video conferencing it will do. At least, the outlines of the interlocutor can be seen -.

But we were pleased with the performance tests of this phone. Quadrant Stardart 2.1.1 Highscreen boost outperformed Motorola Razr MAXX with 3328 points (vs. Motorola's 2662 points), which can be seen from the following screenshot:

Now let's talk about the strongest side of the phone - the battery. I was very impressed with the battery life. If, with not very active use (using it as a notebook, several calls and SMS per day), Motorola Razr MAXX lasts for three days, then Highscreen boost lasted almost six days.

This actually surprised me, because although it has more capacity than Motorola, it is not twice as large. The answer lies in the fact that the Motorola Razr MAXX has a large lead in terms of gluttony with a screen made using AMOLED technology, and the screen in Highscreen boost consumes noticeably less (the GSM receiver is the most gluttonous here). True, most of the time the screen worked for me at a brightness of 50% (in Motorola, I always have automatic brightness adjustment turned on).

Soft

As for the software part of the smartphone, there is not much to tell here, since the operating system uses almost bare Android 4.1.2 without any unnecessary installed applications.

For me, this is rather a plus, since the necessary software can always be installed, but in order to remove unnecessary programs that come with the kit, you need to dance with a tambourine. On the other hand, pre-installed programs could be useful for those who have not dealt with Android yet.

We can see the programs that are installed by default in the following screenshots.

The desktop consists of five scrolling screens. By default, some widgets are set on them, like an analog clock.

… on/off buttons for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, sync, and screen brightness

…and the gallery widget

If you swipe your finger across the screen from its top to the bottom, a message bar will open with convenient on/off buttons for various modes (the same WiFi, Bluetooth, and some others like data transfer via mobile Internet).

For example, I will also give a screenshot of the camera application.

Unfortunately, this feature does not work on all our smartphones.

How to set up the Internet on Highscreen.

In the modern world, almost every person has a mobile device, or rather a smartphone. A necessary condition for a modern smartphone user is the ability to connect to the Internet.

Highscreen devices provide such an opportunity. But just buying a smartphone does not mean immediately connecting to the Internet. First you need to buy a service from your mobile operator. It is very important to choose the right tariff. Depending on your requests, you can choose either unlimited or billed access.

It is also important to know how to set up such a connection. As a rule, the settings come by themselves, you only need to save them. In some cases, it is not possible to set up the Internet the first time; in such situations, manual setting.

If you do not know how to set up the Internet manually on a Highscreen device, then this material is just for you. We will tell you in detail how to set up the Internet using GPRS. This process will not require much effort from you. Just carefully follow everything that is written in the instructions. It's also important to know why you weren't able to access the first time. We will also provide a list of these reasons.

Before manual setting...

1) You need to activate the "data transfer" option in the settings. This is necessary to open access for data transfer from the network. You can find this option in the menu item "mobile network settings".

2) If you do not have enough funds on your account, then you should replenish it, otherwise it is not possible to access the Internet.

To understand when you are connected to the network, pay attention to the link indicator. Near it should be an alphabetic symbol indicating an Internet connection. If you have taken into account all the above points, then proceed to the manual settings.

Internet setup manually.

1) Go to the "Settings" menu.

2) Open the “more” item, and then go to the “mobile networks” column.

3) Here you need to select the "access point" parameter.

4) If there is one in the list of access points that relates to your operator, then it is enough to activate it, and access is obtained.

5) Otherwise, we proceed to create a new access point. To do this, in the list of functions, select the line "new ...".

6) A new window will open. There will be empty fields and they need to be filled with certain information (). Without errors, it is necessary to fill in the "APN" field.

8) Save the created access point.

9) Pay attention to the connection indicator, if there is a letter next to it, then the connection was successful.

10) If the connection was not activated the first time, then reboot the device.

There are several reasons why you cannot access the Internet. Among them, such as incorrect filling of fields when creating a new account, a faulty device, being out of network coverage. Analyze all factors and identify the problem. If you yourself can not determine what the reason is, contact a specialist.
