Connecting multimedia equipment. Scheme of sound generation in a computer

Streaming using the built-in multimedia player - this convenient solution, allowing you to watch content such as videos, photos and musical compositions collected on a computer.

Connector base station, as well as the ability to call video, images and music over the network are some of the most important properties of Smart TV receivers.

Thus, you save on resource-intensive transfers of this multimedia content to your TV using external hard disk or flash drive.

Many of the ones currently available Smart models TV, equipped with internal client multimedia so that they can accept media files from local network without the use of additional devices.

TVs that lack network connectivity and playback capabilities multimedia, can be retrofitted relatively cheaply by purchasing a suitable player.

The small EM7285 player can even handle Full HD material. By using cable network Gigabit Ethernet or wireless WLAN networks, causes multimedia files and then play them back using your TV and/or Hi-Fi band.

Playing media content via TV

Media player (also known as client multimedia) receives multimedia files from a server on the local network, and then plays them using household appliances electronics.

To do this, you must connect such a player to your TV and/or Hi-Fi equipment. You can connect to the local network using a data cable or via wireless network(WLAN).

Players for playing movies, photos and music are equipped with an HDMI connector, which communicates with the TV. In addition to the video in standard definition PAL accepts high definition content, including Full HD material (1080p and 1080i).

Better equipped models have a built-in HDD and a USB port to which you can connect external USB drives to write to and read multimedia content from them. External hard disks can also act as a client in broadcast streaming content. It is worth noting that even devices such as game consoles Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 can be used as an online receiver for TV content.

Most media players offer the ability to connect Hi-Fi equipment to play music (or receive better sound during movie shows). However, most of them do not have a display to guide your selection. audio tracks. Therefore, you have to turn on the TV even when you just want to listen to music.

How is transmission from computer to TV carried out?

For users who want to regularly play content collected on a computer using a TV, a network player that supports the standard is a convenient solution. DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), offered by many manufacturers.

DLNA defines standards for communication between Smart TV receivers, media players, receivers, audio-video, computers, tablets and smartphones. Thus, for example, you can call using all devices that support DLNA, multimedia file with network drive with function DLNA or from a computer with software compatible with this specification. Standard currently available DLNA in version 1.5.

Online media sharing technology

The condition for providing multimedia content on the network is connecting devices to the same local network. The type of connection (wi-fi (WLAN) or cable Ethernet) does not matter. Management takes over the protocol UPnP AV (Universal Plug-and-Play Audio Video), which must be supported by all devices.

This technology allows you to discover all devices on the network and interact with each other. Device supporting the protocol UPnP AV searches the local network for a server that provides the appropriate multimedia content exchange service. Then displays a list of found devices.

Advantage of the protocol UPnP AV This is a fact that does not require login to the server, and does not allow you to manage access rights. Each device can therefore access shared resources without problems.

To play media content using the standard DLNA, you need to enable it on all devices taking part in the transfer. Then a list of available content will appear on the screen and you can start playing.

Network Performance

During transfers streaming video high definition depends a lot on the data transfer speed on the local network. Otherwise, when watching movies or music through TV, they may stutter.

However, even on a cable network with Fast Ethernet ports, which can achieve performance up to 100 Mbps, you can play video smoothly high resolution in 1080p mode.

WLAN and PowerLine networks

In wireless networks and PowerLine it is necessary to ensure good conditions for data transmission, because both of these types of local networks are more susceptible to interference than network cables.

However, if optimal conditions are maintained, the 802.11n option in the case of a WLAN, and the HomePlug AV option in the case of a PowerLine network, is sufficient for high-quality reproduction movies in HD format.

You can view playable content found on DLNA-enabled devices connected to your local network in graphical interface player.

Multimedia server for home network

It is recommended to use a multimedia server as a source with files. This is the name given to the identifying device on the network in which photographs are stored. music files and movies intended for transmission to a playback device.

The role of such a server can be successfully performed by an ordinary desktop computer or laptop. However, this first one is a little less suitable for this job because it consumes a lot of power and the server must be constantly ready to perform its duties.

A more economical solution is, for example, a router with USB interface or NAC.

Share photos and videos via DLNA

Wanting to provide movies, photos and music in your local Windows network, you can’t do without server software, for example, share-ware Tversity (www.tversity.com) or free VLC Media Player(www.videolan.org), Serviio (www.serviio.org) and PS3 Media Server(www.ps3mediaserver.org).

Tversity not only gives you access to information through UPnP And DLNA, but also allows you to project multimedia files using a web browser. The benefits of this tool, as well as the PS3 Media Server program, are its ability to convert files saved in exotic formats to commonly used ones (an action we call transcoding) so that they can be transferred to devices that do not support little-known video codecs. Alternatively, you can use server software offered by some TV manufacturers, such as Samsung's PC Share utility.

With this program you can easily organize and carry out quick search even in a large collection of music and films. Can independently sort files, dividing them into photo, video and music categories according to their extension.

One of the reasons is the fact that DLNA imposes only three formats on producers - JPEG (photo), MP3 (music) and MPEG-2 (video). Even if the TV supports formats such as DivX, MKV or H.264, this does not mean that you will be able to play content saved in these formats through the interface DLNA.

As a result, you can connect required file from a flash drive, not through DLNA, which remains unclear to many users. And even if the content is playing, the TV interface may respond very sluggishly to user input.

On the other hand, some functions do not work, such as scrolling forward and backward. In this situation, it is recommended to try several different servers DLNA / UpnP. Maybe one of them will work optimally with your TV, device or smartphone.

Android manages devices

Android works not only as an operating system for tablets and smartphones. This platform is increasingly being used in modern media players as well. Below are some of the many examples.

Media player with DVB-T2 support

The iconBIT company (www.iconbit.com) offers the XDS1003D T2 model. Equipped with good software. In addition to popular video files, including ISOs containing disc images, Blu-ray even supports 3D movie formats. Playback is done using extra hard drive that can be installed inside the case (must be in 3.5-inch format) or from shared folders on the local network.

The player has not only a Gigabit Ethernet connector, but also a USB 3.0 port for connecting external hard disks. In addition, there are two USB 2.0 connectors and a card reader that supports SD, SDHC and MC formats. For transmitting image and sound signals, there are HDMI interfaces 1.4 (maximum resolution images are 1080p) and S/PDIF. The player supports, in particular, Dolby Digital and DTS Surround standards.

An Internet connection allows the use (via the TV) of online services such as YouTube, Flickr and Picasa. An addition is a built-in DVB-T tuner with recording and delayed viewing (timeshift) functions. The device has successfully proven itself as a multimedia TV control panel.

Media player

Eminent (www.eminent-online.com) is following a similar trajectory, but is abandoning DVB-T tuner. The EM 7385 is equipped with a storage compartment that is easily accessible from the outside. hard drive, in which you can put a hard SATA drive 3.5 inch format. In addition, it has a powerful USB port 3.0 and a built-in WLAN module, which allows you to connect wirelessly to other devices within home network.

The slightly more modest EM 7380 model only plays multimedia files from shared folders on the network, external hard drives, USB keys and SD memory cards.

You can download applications for the Eminenta interface from the manufacturer's website. Two player models can be controlled remotely via special applications on a smartphone running Android.

Brief information from theory

The computer provides the ability to watch movies and video clips, but not only the image, but also the sound quality should be important. And for a feeling of complete reality in games, multi-channel sound is simply necessary. However, many users do not take full advantage of the capabilities provided by the equipment, often limiting themselves to only a stereo system small sizes. Also, owners of high-quality audio systems often do not connect them correctly, which does not allow them to fully use their existing potential.

The procedure for connecting the audio system depends on the capabilities motherboard computer or, more simply put, on the number of inputs/outputs. There are a minimum of three and a maximum of six. If you need to connect a 7.1 audio system, and there are only three outputs, then you need to purchase and install sound card - it will expand the possibilities of sound. To connect a 5.1 configuration, three outputs are enough.

If you do not have additional software installed on your sound card, it is recommended to install it, as with its help you can significantly expand the capabilities of the speaker system. If you have an integrated sound card, then the software for it comes complete with drivers. If you purchased the sound card separately, it should come with a software disc. Many people use a computer as a music center: with it you can listen to music from discs, download it from free Internet resources, or simply listen to Internet radio. In this case, you can use headphones, special external computer speakers or built-in ones (in some laptop models). However, such an interface does not satisfy avid music lovers: ideal sound is obtained only when using professional musical equipment. Therefore, many users connect speakers from music center .

Scheme of sound generation in a computer.

The digital audio stream from the media (CD, DVD or hard drive) is sent to the system (motherboard) board. The interaction of the audio subsystem and software ensures, if necessary, the processing of the audio stream, which is transmitted to the audio subsystem, where it is converted into analog form and is output to speakers or headphones.

The sound subsystem - the sound card - is the most important part that provides sound output from the computer. It can be built-in or external.

Most users work with two-channel acoustics, although multi-channel Acustic systems have long been part of modern computers. Multichannel sound is needed when watching movies and playing games; audio files are mostly two-channel. So, a gaming sound card won't always be the best for listening to music.

IN modern computers The motherboard's built-in audio capabilities are quite sufficient for watching movies and playing video games.

Procedure for performing work (classes)

Task 1. How to connect speakers

Instructions

Connectspeakers to the audio input of the computer, and then to the power supply. There is no need to install drivers. Once you connectspeakers to the computer and plug them into a power outlet, operating recognizes them and they are ready to go.

Connection procedure speakers to a laptop is slightly different from connecting them to home computer. Acoustic for a laptop you need to connect depending on its interface. Eatspeakers , in which the connection interface is the same as in headphones. In this case, just paste thesespeakers into the headphone jack. Built-inspeakers laptop will be blocked, and the entire will be transmitted through the connected speaker system.

Also available for laptopsspeakers with USB interface. Before connecting suchspeakers to the laptop, install the software from the disk that came with them. Now connectspeakers to any of the USB ports, after which the previously installed software will automatically configure their operation. The notification “Device is connected and ready to use” will mean that the hardware setup process has been completed. One of the speakers has a power button. Click this button. Now they are completely ready for work.

Task 2. How to connect speakers from a music center to a computer

You will need

a tulip cord connecting the stereo with speakers and the computer (“tulip” is the common name for this interface).

It is important to note that most often it is not the speakers themselves that are connected to the computer, but the music center with the connected speakers. In this case, one end of the tulip cord is inserted into the input of the music center (it is unique for each manufacturer, its location depends on specific model music center).

The second connector of the tulip cord has a standard output: the same as with any headphones, computer speakers etc. It needs to be inserted into special place on the computer, intended for the headphone input. When you use this cord, the speakers built into your computer are automatically turned off.

Task 3. Setting up speakers on your computer

When you connect speakers to your computer, sound does not always play automatically. In some cases, certain settings must be made for sound transmission.

When you connect speakers on your computer desktop, a dialog box will open where you need to set required parameters(“Front speakers” or “Rear speakers”).

Connecting speakers with a subwoofer. IN in this case Only one plug is connected to the computer; the speakers themselves are connected directly to the subwoofer. After you insert the plug into the socket corresponding to its color, a dialog box will appear on the desktop. Check the box next to " Line output» and save the settings.

Even with installed drivers and the connected audio system, it is possible that no sound will be played. In this case, set all the sliders in the sound settings to the maximum position; it is possible that one of them is blocking sound playback.

Task 4. Setting up sound in Windows XP

The initial sound setup on the computer is carried out after installation operating system. For a built-in sound card, this is done by installing drivers from the disk included with the motherboard. After checking in the system properties/device manager that there are no yellow question marks, you can use sound system computer. If there are such question marks, all problems must be eliminated. HD-Audio standard audio cards sometimes require an update for XP, which comes with the application.

If the sound card is not built-in, setting up sound on your computer will require installing a separate driver, which comes included on a CD.

If there is no entry in the audio and video codecs “this device is turned on and operating normally

collections, such as ZverCD. Before reinstalling the driver, be sure to remove all audio drivers and install them correctly again.

It is advisable to use the driver from the disk supplied with the audio card, but if it is missing or damaged, you can download required driver from the equipment manufacturers website.

After correct installation driver, the initial sound setup on the computer has been completed.

Further customization of sound on a computer may involve setting individual user parameters. You can do this by selecting the Sounds and Audio Devices icon in Control Panel. There you can configure what sounds will accompany events in Windows and programs. You can select one of the existing schemes or create a new one. The “Volume” tab located there will allow you to individually adjust the speaker volume and other parameters. Setting up audio on your computer may also include setting up audio and voice recording devices.

Replacing the video card may cause the sound on the computer to disappear. This may be caused by a conflict between old drivers and new video card drivers. Can be fixed by reinstalling updated version sound drivers.

If the sound doesn't work

follows:

Check the power supply to the speakers; check if the wires are damaged;

Check what parameters the sound settings on the computer have; you may have accidentally checked the box where it says “mute sound.” This can be done by opening the Toolbar/Sounds and Audio Devices, on the “Volume” tab, check if the sound is turned off, open “Advanced” and check if the “bird” is set to “Off” for “Sound”.

Check whether the drivers installed when you initially set up the sound on your computer are correct, and if necessary, reinstall them.

Try connecting other speakers or headphones, there may be a problem with the audio system.

Task 5. Setting up speakers and microphone in Windows 8

1. Open the “Control Panel” menu and select “Hardware and Sound”.
A settings window will open with several tabs. Speakers and headphones are configured in the “Playback” tab, microphone – in the “Recording” tab.

2. The “Playback” tab lists those devices that can be connected to this computer. A green check mark indicates available equipment, in this case the speakers. Select it with the mouse and go to the settings menu.

2.1. When choosing a configuration, you should choose the one that best suits the connected equipment. For owners of two speakers or headphones, the “Stereo” option is suitable.

3. Having confirmed the selected configuration, click “Finish” and go to Properties.
This menu also has several tabs that allow us to configure:
- sound balance;
select additional effects;

Decide on the sound quality (bitrate).

The “General” tab shows through which connectors the speakers can be connected to the computer. Most suitable options are marked with green circles.

Having saved all changes, we move on to setting up the microphone. To do this, go back to Control Panel/Sound and select the “Recording” tab. Choosing a microphone

It also lists all devices that can be connected to the PC, the active one is marked with a green checkmark. Select it with the mouse and go to the “Properties” window, which also consists of several tabs. The General tab contains brief information about the connected device and the connector to which it needs to be connected:

The remaining tabs allow you to set the microphone sensitivity, connect other devices to the input, etc.
Further sound adjustments can be made in the “Sound” section in the control panel.

Here you can choose one of the available sound circuits, which play a certain melody when a particular event occurs in the operating system. Here you can adjust the volume level. If there are several playback devices or microphones, then you can immediately configure the device through which the sound will be played and recorded.

Task 6. Checking the volume control

In the lower right corner of the screen, where your clock is located, there is an icon that looks like a speaker. If you don't have this icon (this may happen in Windows XP), then you should check your settings through the Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices. By clicking on this icon with the left mouse button, make sure that the sound is not muted and the volume control is not lowered all the way down.

Now click right click mouse on the same speaker icon and open “Volume Mixer”. In the window that opens, check whether the controls are enabled.

If you are in these settings you cannot do anything due to the fact that all parameters are deactivated (highlighted gray), then you need to check the audio device for functionality in the task manager and if problems are detected there too, then you will need to reinstall the audio driver.

To get to the Device Manager window...

On Windows7 or Vista Click: Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Device Manager.

IN Windows XP: Right-click on the “My Computer” icon, select “Properties”, go to the “Hardware” tab and click “Device Manager”.

In the section "Sound, video and gaming devices» your audio device should be displayed.

If the device is missing, not defined, or is opposite it Exclamation point, it means the corresponding driver is damaged or missing. In this case, the driver needs to be updated or completely reinstalled.

Check your audio settings In Windows XP:

Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices

On the audio tab, in the audio playback section, make sure your device is correctly identified and set to default:

Go to the Volume tab. Make sure that there is no checkmark next to the “Mute sound” item. It is also necessary that the mixer volume be set above zero.

If all the settings in this section are correct, then proceed to the next step. In the case when the mixer volume control cannot be moved, and at the top instead of the name of your audio device you see the inscription “ Sound devices are missing”, then most likely your sound driver has crashed or your sound card is faulty

Task 7. Increase the sound in the speakers

Make sure the volume control is in yourcolumns adjusted to the required position to ensure audibility. Also check that the connections between the speakers and sound card are working properly. Open the operating volume control Windows systems. Install the required sound and make sure it is not at zero.

Open the audio player and play any available on your computer sound file, then adjust the volume in this program.

If you encounter problems with the audibility of the audio being played back, check the software you are using for errors, and also try playing the file with another player installed on your computer.

If you have problems with system sounds in general, and not just with playback , open the corresponding settings item in the control panel, which is responsible for sounds and audio devices.

Make sure that the sound in the adapter is turned on, select hardware check. Check the cable connection to the card and the functionality of the speakers by connecting them to third party device playback If you have problems with volume levels, test your sound card by connecting other speakers or headphones to it.

Dear friends!

Sometimes there is a need connecting your smartphone or tablet to personal computer(PC), for example, for sharing files, resetting photos or videos, saving some important data, etc.

One of the most simple ways connecting your device to a PC or laptop is connection via USB cable. As another alternative method you can use the well-known Bluetooth technology. But alas, this method is less popular and in this article we will only consider the method with a USB cable.

Let's take it standard USB cable and connect it.

1. After connecting the cable, the computer should hear standard sound connection " New device" and a window should appear with the text "Connecting a new device" or " Installing drivers».

2. Literally in a couple of seconds on mobile device will appear in the notification bar USB icon"in the form of a trident. By opening the notification shade and clicking on USB string, we will see the connection settings. As a rule, it is enough to leave the birdie in the “ Connected as a multimedia device (MTP)." In this mode, all files are visible. If you need to reset only pictures, you can use the second mode. But only pictures will be visible in it.

3. On your computer, in the secondary pop-up window, select “Open device to view files.” On the PC, a new device appears in the list of drives ( Portable player ). By clicking on it, we see internal storage smartphone (memory card) and, if available, external storage (external SD memory card).

In the second mode (Connect as a camera):

The same on the tablet:

One important note . If your PC does not want to see mobile phone or tablet, check the "USB debugging" setting. If it is turned off, then you will not be able to connect your device to the PC. To do this, go to " Settings" => "Developer Options" => "USB Debugging" and put a tick here.

Good luck to you, see you again on the pages of the site.

On the topic DLNA settings I have already published more than one article. We launched a DLNA server different ways, on different devices, and for different TVs. In this instruction, I will show you how to enable a DLNA server in Windows 10. Let it be a computer or a laptop, it doesn’t matter. The main thing is that Windows 10 is installed on it. There are many different programs, with which you can run a media server on your computer. But in this instruction we will not use any third-party programs. We will only use standard means Windows 10. By the way, this option is available in both Windows 8 and Windows 7. There are few differences there.

And so, first, let’s figure out what DLNA is, why run this server on a computer, laptop, and what to do with it. Everything is very simple. By DLNA technologies you can transfer media content (video, photo, music) between devices on the local network. Most often, this technology is used for viewing on Smart TV TV videos, or photos that are on the computer. I wrote in more detail about this technology in the article: . If interested, you can read it.

How it all works: The Smart TV must be connected to our router. By Wi-Fi networks, or by cable. It doesn't matter. The computer on which we want to run the media server and from which we want to play video, photos, or music on the TV must be connected to the same router. The main thing that devices were on the same local network (were connected through one router). This does not mean that there should be only one computer and one TV, there can be several of them. Moreover, there may be other devices on the network that support DLNA. For example: gaming consoles, TV set-top boxes, satellite receivers etc.

Before proceeding with setup, make sure that your computer and TV are connected to your Wi-Fi network, or using network cable to the router. Check if the Internet works on the TV. If you don't know if yours supports DLNA TV, then this information can be found in the characteristics. I will say this, if the TV has a Smart TV, then everything will work.

And also in Microsoft browser Edge in Windows 10 has the ability to display videos, photos and music directly from the browser on TV. I wrote in the article how to do this.

I think we have figured out all the nuances, now we can start setting up.

Displaying video from Windows 10 to TV: a quick and easy way

A video, film, almost any video can be displayed from a computer to a TV in a few clicks of the mouse. Turn on the TV. Make sure it is connected to the internet (to your router).

On the computer, open the folder with the video, and right-click on the file that we want to play on the TV (Smart TV). Next, move the cursor to the “Transfer to device” item. Our TV should appear there. If it says “Searching for devices...”, then you need to wait a little. Leave open menu, or try again in a couple of seconds. As you can see in the screenshot below, Windows 10 found two TVs on me: LG and Philips.

Choose a TV. The player control window will immediately appear. In it, you can control video playback on the TV, add other files to the playlist, see information on the TV, etc.

The TV will immediately start playing the currently running movie.

We have just started watching video from a computer to a TV using DLNA technology. As you can see, everything works. And all this wirelessly, over the air. It's over if you have both devices connected via Wi-Fi.

Starting a DLNA server on Windows 10 using standard means

Above we looked at a method where you can send files to a TV from a computer. But there is still a great opportunity when we can view all files from the TV (to which access is open), which are stored on our computer. I think this is exactly what you need.

For start DLNA servers can be used third party programs, For example, " Home media server(UPnP, DLNA, HTTP)". I wrote about setting up using this program in an article. This program is suitable for all TVs. But each manufacturer, as a rule, has its own program. LG, for example, has this Smart Share. The setup I wrote about.

Well, on the other hand, why do we need third-party programs if everything in Windows 10 can be configured using built-in tools.

1 First of all, we need to open the “Media Streaming Options”. This item is located in the control panel. You can simply start typing its name in the search and launch it.

2 In the new window, click on the "Enable" button streaming multimedia". Thus, we enable the DLNA server in Windows 10.

3 Next, enter the name of your DLNA server. Then, in the list of devices you can allow or deny access to the media server for specific device on your network. If you are connected to your home network, you can leave all devices.

If your TV is not on the list, then wait a little. Or close and reopen your media streaming settings.

Next to each device there will be a "Configure..." button. If necessary, you can ask individual settings for every device.

4 You can now access the running server. On different TVs it looks different. On Philips TVs(with Android TV), for example, you need to launch the Media application. Or select this source from the available signal sources.

As you can see in the screenshot above, access will immediately be open to three standard folders: "Videos", "Images", "Music". You can view all the files that are in these folders on your TV.

These three folders are located at system disk. Agree, it’s not very convenient to copy the necessary films and other files there all the time in order to watch them from the TV. Therefore, you can simply open general access to other folders.

How to add a folder for a DLNA server

Launch Player Windows Media.

If you want to add a folder with videos, for example, then click on the corresponding item on the left and select “Manage video library”.

In the new window, click on the "Add" button. Select the folder to which you want to open access via DLNA, and click on the "Add folder" button.

All, required folder will appear in the list and will be displayed on the TV. For example, I opened access to the “Video” folder in which I store films.

In this way you can add any folders or remove them from the list.

1 If you need to open your media streaming settings, you can do so from Windows Media Player. Just click on the "Stream" menu item and select " Extra options streaming..."

2 If during playback of files on DLNA computer will go into sleep mode and playback will be interrupted, then simply enable the "High Performance" power plan.

Several articles

Many people think that Windows Media Player is gradually losing its popularity, but this is not entirely true. Behind Lately There have been so many updates and additions to the player that you can completely customize it to your liking. During playback various types files, you can change the player skin and install various add-ons. While the player has always been a core component of the Windows OS, Windows Media has become a really good one in the last few years. The latest, version 12, contains a number of interesting features, which will probably interest you. We will talk about these features and much more in this article.

Player update

If you have installed old version player, we strongly advise you to update it. Windows Media is completely free and always available for download on the official Microsoft website.

Auto mode: Open Windows player Media, press the Alt key, go to the Help menu and click Check for Updates.

If you don't want to manually check for updates every time, you can enable " automatic check" To do this, follow these steps:

Step 1

Open Windows Media Player, press the Alt key, expand the Tools menu, and open Settings.

Step 2

In the “Player” tab, specify how often the player checks for updates.

First start

When you launch Windows Media Player for the first time, you need to spend a few minutes to install primary settings player. They consist of several steps:

Step 1

The Windows Media Player installation wizard will appear, which at the first stage will ask you to choose which type of settings to use: recommended or custom. If you select recommended, the player will automatically set all the settings without your intervention. In this case, skip this section and move on to the next one.

If you want to configure the player yourself, select the option " Custom Settings" and click the "Next" button.

Step 2

The first to open is the Privacy Options dialog box. Check the boxes next to the items you really want to use and click Next.

Step 3

At this point WMP will ask if you want to add a shortcut to your desktop and panel quick launch, and will also offer to mark the use of it as the default. You put required settings and click Next.

Step 5

On final stage the player will prompt you to set up an online store to access paid content. Select “Do not set up an online store” and click the “Finish” button.

Always remain anonymous online

When installed, Windows Media Player generates a unique ID for your computer. This identifier is used in many places, including on some web resources. Thanks to it, Windows Media Player can independently request information about media data and perform exchange official information. Although the developers claim that the player does not transmit any personal information, there are sometimes cases where they can track what you watch. If you do not want information about using the player randomly leaked online, disable this feature. For this:

Step 1

Hold down the Alt key, then open the Tools menu and select Options.

Step 2

Go to the “Privacy” tab and uncheck the box next to “Send a unique code...”.

Update the codec

After you have installed the new Windows version Media Player, you will also need to install additional codecs to support certain file types. A codec is nothing more than an additional add-on for Windows Media Player that helps identify and play many file formats. We recommend installing the K-lite codec package. It alone is enough to enable support for almost all audio and video data formats. You can download it from the official website of the developer.

It is also worth enabling the option automatic download codecs by going to the player settings and in the “Player” tab, check the “Automatically load codecs” option.
