From Mass Effect to Jade Empire: the best BioWare games, in our subjective opinion. Mario Kart is a simple game

Game released back in 1992 Super Mario Kart made a small revolution, creating an entire subgenre of arcade racing. The cocktail of familiar characters, innovative technology and fun multiplayer-focused gameplay has appealed to millions of players. Several generations have passed since then gaming systems, numerous sequels appeared that developed the mechanics and structure of the tracks, but always remained true to the original concept. On this moment the series consists of eight parts, the last of which appeared on the unpopular WiiU in 2014, but managed to sell more than 8 million copies. And now the company Nintendo released an expanded reissue on its new consoleNintendo Switch.

Follows the modern trend and is a complete and largely improved version of the original Mario Kart 8 adjusted for features new system. The game includes all main and additional content by default WiiU-versions, including all released add-ons, which at one time had to be purchased for a fee. But brand new content has also been added - exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

The main advantage of the series has always been its bright, exciting and detailed game process, available for all age groups. In , as in the original MK8, all saved fundamentals series. You choose one of the characters, customize your vehicle and fight for victory on numerous tracks, using drift acceleration techniques around corners and a variety of items to battle opponents and gain other advantages.

A concept that is simple at first glance acquires numerous details and nuances thanks to the abundance of modes, mechanics honed over the years, successful arcade physics and the variety of all elements - starting from huge amount game characters, the intricacies of controlling different vehicles, using objects, and ending with dozens of tracks and their unique features. This is an incredibly exciting and very deep game in terms of gameplay, capable of absorbing both beginners and seasoned veterans for dozens of hours.

In this regard, it is very adaptive and everyone will find something of their own in it. Casual gamers who rarely turn on their consoles are just having fun passing the time with family, friends or colleagues. While experienced gamers accustomed to b O Moreover, they can enjoy the competitive spirit and honing their skills, learning all the nuances of the game in multiplayer. And despite the fact that Deluxe is an arcade racing game, the very feeling of driving and speed is conveyed perfectly here.

Includes four main modes: classic racing mode " The Grand Prix» for single playthrough. " Time", where you can set time trial records. " Race» - to customize it to suit your rules. And specially updated and expanded for Deluxe-version mode " The battle».

Traditionally, in the " The Grand Prix"Several difficulty levels are available, named according to engine size - 50 cc, 100 cc, 150 cc, as well as “mirror” 150 cc and maximum - 200 cc. The higher the class and the larger the engine capacity, the correspondingly higher the speed on the track and the speed of the game itself. And if almost everyone can handle 50cc, then 200cc will be a test for even the most experienced drivers.

Trails are the central and most important part of any Mario Kart. The approach that the developers of the series took to create them has always been different from other games. The first priority was always to design the roads so that their differences were not formal and actually affected the gameplay. And from this point of view, the difference between the routes is rather close to the difference between, for example, at different levels some quality platformer, rather than the tracks of other racing games, where very often all the difference ends in the appearance and configuration of the turns.

In total, the game's racing mode presents record-breaking 48 tracks– 16 tracks created from scratch, 16 tracks from classic games in the series redesigned to accommodate new mechanics (from SNES before Nintendo 3DS) and 16 more new ones that were previously available only in the form DLC. The tracks are divided into 12 cups, four in each. Unlike previous games in the series, where new classes and cups were opened only after completing the previous ones, everything is open from the very beginning. You are free to choose and go through them in any order. Supporters classic way no one bothers you to complete them in order with 3 stars.

With each new game trails in Mario Kart became more and more difficult and interesting, but it was in the “eight” that they reached absolutely new level execution. Complex multi-level locations, in which the race can move to the ceiling and walls, are designed with maximum variety and skillfully use unique features 3D-design. This is what greatly distinguishes them from each other and has a positive effect on the variety of gameplay.

Somewhere you literally dive under water, or, straightening the glider, go flying. Sometimes your vehicle turns into a futuristic anti-gravity model on a magnetic levitation, followed by races on loops and other incredible areas.

In this case, the routes can change dynamically. For example, in a volcanic race, pieces of earth literally break off, narrowing the road. Somewhere, like on a classic track from the legendary F-Zero, acceleration is actively used. Others have no circles at all and are a high-speed path. There are even unusual conceptual locations, like the route Excitebike, built on the jumping mechanics from the original 1984 game.

There are really a lot of variations here, and more often than not, each track tries to offer maximum variety, while they all vary in difficulty and are flavored with all sorts of boxes with items, obstacles, secrets and shortcuts.

All this makes the game really exciting - the tracks are great to drive, their features and secrets are fun to find, explore and use. Each area has its own mood and audiovisual accompaniment. At the same time, by collecting coins both in single play and in multiplayer, you will unlock new parts for your kart.

Offers several dozen types of transport and parts for its customization. Immediately before the race, the player must select the body type, tires and airframe. Each of these components together will determine the characteristics of your card and, accordingly, its strengths and weak sides. For example, a motorcycle will have high lightness and mobility, but it will be easy to be thrown off the road by even a moderate collision. A racing car will boast maximum acceleration, and a heavy SUV with large tires, significantly inferior in speed, will serve as an excellent tool in difficult places, such as thickets and mud.

A wide selection of tires and airframes will help you adjust the features of the selected kart in the right direction, balancing between advantages and disadvantages depending on the player’s preferences.

It also makes sense to try different configurations, since the final choice will make the driving experience quite different. In other words, on different types transport gives a rather different impression of the process itself.

IN Deluxe driving mechanics and behavior on the track, with the exception of a couple of point innovations, remains identical to the original MK8. You will still actively use drifts on turns to smoothly enter and accumulate additional acceleration, objects and all the features of the track.

The set of additional driving techniques and items also remained largely unchanged. There is a quick start, easy acceleration when performing a jump on obstacles, mutual acceleration when touching in gravity sections, acceleration when entering an air pocket following directly behind an opponent, a sharp brake with acceleration on a turn in the 200 cc class and turns around the axis for the " mode The battle" However, there are also innovations.

The first and most important thing concerns the storage of items. Now there are two slots for them instead of one. During the race, you can collect and hold two items at once for later use. In accordance with this, double boxes have been added to the tracks, allowing you to instantly fill both slots. At first glance this seems like a minor change, but in reality it makes the gameplay more dynamic than the original MK8, as the frequency and possibility of using the entire variety of items increases for each participant in the race.

Of the new power-ups themselves, casting was added Boo And Feather. The first will make your kart invulnerable for a few seconds and can steal an item from the opponent closest to you. The second is used only in the " The battle” and allows you to make a high jump, which can help you dodge obstacles or steal a couple of balloons from your opponent.

Another innovation is the addition of a new threshold maximum acceleration when it accumulates in a skid. When you go into a skid, pressing the button R, after some time sparks begin to fly from under the wheels. And if you release the skid button, your kart will noticeably speed up. At first these sparks are orange, which implies minimal acceleration. If you wait a little longer, they turn blue - in this case, the speed increases more. The developers added new pink sparks, the third – maximum – level of acceleration, in addition to the already existing orange and blue ones, which will be especially useful when exiting long turns.

There are also new features for beginners. These are the so-called " Smart control" And " Automatic acceleration", which can help beginners to control skidding, as well as quickly get out of difficult situations so as not to fly off dangerous sections of the track. These functions can always be turned off from the pause menu if desired. Please note that when Smart Control is enabled, it is not possible to perform the new acceleration mentioned above.

Also, to understand all the features of the game, a visual guide with answers to all possible questions is available from the title menu.

As for the characters, it has the most impressive roster in the series. In addition to all the heroes from vanilla, Inklings from Splatoon, infamous for the games in the series Luigi's Mansion Boo King, Bowser Junior, as well as Skeleton Koopa and Golden Mario. To unlock the latter, you need to complete the 200cc cup.

All characters in the game, except for Golden Mario, are immediately available for selection. Based on their influence on the gameplay, all heroes, as before, can be divided into three categories: light, medium and heavy. The choice of character, in addition to the issue of sympathy and appearance, also affects the final characteristics of the vehicle. For example, some will give a bonus to acceleration, but at the same time reduce cross-country ability, others - to handling or speed. And this should be taken into account.

The most noticeable change compared to the original is WiiU- this is a redesigned and updated game mode " The battle" Instead of racing, it involves battles between participants in different variations of the rules.

At one time in the original MK8 exactly " The battle"was a close object of criticism, since it was present rather formally - in the only version without its own unique locations. Many players missed high-quality combat mode. Nintendo listened to the community, and therefore offers this mode in all its glory and diversity.

Especially for Deluxe the developers added five various types combat mode: " Balloon», « Piranha chase», « Bob-omb battle», « Time is money" And " Face relay».

Mode " Balloon" is a variation on the famous classic balloon battle that has appeared in almost every game in the series. Competitors must earn points by popping balloons tied to other competitors using objects. All players start with five balls tied to the card and zero points. It is worth considering that if your opponents burst all your balls, your score will be reduced by half, and you will continue the game with three balls instead of the original five. The winner in the duel is the one who bursts the most balls of the opponent and collects greatest number points.

« Piranha chase" is a completely new battle mode first introduced in and based on the theme of "cops and gangsters". All players are divided into two teams. The team of "policemen" is equipped with Piranha Plants - and their task is to catch up and catch the members of the team of "bandits". Caught "bandits" are placed in prison cells, but their associates have the opportunity to free them by clicking on the placed buttons with the image of a key. By hitting the “policeman,” the “bandits” deprive him of the opportunity to catch the fugitives for some time. The "cops" win the round if all the "bandits" are caught. The latter will win, provided that at least one “bandit” will be free when time runs out.

In " Bob-omb battle", who returned from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! c GameCube, the players' task is to hit as many opponents as possible by throwing Bob-ombs at them. Here, unlike the racing mode, they explode without any delay as soon as they touch the surface, and do not cause blast damage to those who used them. Each participant can simultaneously hold up to 10 Bob-ombs. This mode was slightly modified by crossing it with “Balloon.” So, in addition to the bomb battle itself, everyone has five balloons tied up, and the same rules for counting and decreasing points apply.

In " Time is money", which is known to fans by Mario Kart Wii And Mario Kart 7, players must pick up coins scattered around the arena with the goal of holding onto as many as possible until the end of the round. Each participant is not limited in the number of coins they can collect, and you can also knock out coins from your opponents using items.

The last battle mode introduced in is " Face relay" The task of the participants is to receive and hold with them for a certain time the symbol of the sun ( Shine Sprite from Super Mario Sunshine). By knocking it out from each other, the one who is the first to hold the symbol for 20 conditional account units wins the round. If a participant has a symbol knocked out, the count is not lost and will continue as soon as he gets the precious item back again.

There are also some nice little changes across all modes. For example, a crown will be visible on the current leader of the round right during the battle, and also when you are hit, information indicating the culprit will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Before starting the game in each mode, you can carry out its exact configuration, setting the arena, difficulty level, time, number of victories and other parameters as you wish.

Unlike the original MK8, where a significant drawback was that slightly redesigned racing tracks were used as maps for the combat mode, instead of the old ones, the developers added eight new full-fledged open combat arenas, designed specifically taking into account the specifics of " Boya" You can play any mode on each of them from the very beginning. Like race tracks, arenas are beautifully designed and feature visual and structural diversity.

As a result, combat mode MK8 in version Deluxe has truly undergone a total high-quality rework and is now the most complex and diverse in the series to date.

As for the most important part of all Mario Kart, multiplayer, then with access to Nintendo Switch The game has significantly expanded its co-op and online capabilities. The developers probably thought of everything possible options single-player and co-op play imaginable.

IN local mode You can connect up to eight consoles located nearby. At home, you can insert the console into the dock and enable both single player mode and co-op for up to four players on TV. In any of the modes it is possible to use both Joy-Con"Ow, so Pro-controller.

Mario Kart has always been incredibly good and popular as a game for cooperative play, and such a wide variety is the absolute and biggest plus of the version of the game for Nintendo Switch.

Online play is available for both portable and stationary use of the console. You can select the " Race" or " The battle"and fight via the Internet with players from all over the world, region or with separately selected friends, create championships with your own rules.

In total, up to 12 players can take part in races or battles simultaneously. The system has remained virtually unchanged and has been completely transferred from the original, with one small but very pleasant change - now, while in the lobby, where you select a map and wait for the match to start, you can press the button Y and right before the race choose the character and configuration of your kart. This is a very convenient innovation, since previously you had to interrupt the race, exit online and re-enter desired mode, which was, to put it mildly, inconvenient.

Speaking about the online operation itself, I did not notice any significant shortcomings. The search for players works quickly and properly, I have never been kicked out, and I have not seen a single error message. Of course, in theory, everything is possible, but we can already say that online in general works no worse than in the original version for WiiU.

Unfortunately, the authors never added voice chat, but perhaps it will appear along with special application for network service Nintendo Switch, which the company promises to release in the summer of 2017. However, in my opinion, its absence cannot be called a significant disadvantage for the gameplay, since the speed in the races is quite high, and it is unlikely that you will be able to coordinate your actions even if you want to.

Despite the fact that in the expanded re-release the developers use all the same models and effects from the original version for WiiU, the graphics look noticeably better on Nintendo Switch. Power of the new console in stationary mode along with full palette support RGB enough to increase the resolution from 720p to honest 1080p. At the same time, the game constantly maintains this bar at 60 fps without any downgrade. Because of this, the picture looks much cleaner and sharper than on WiiU. Beauty is achieved largely through corporate style and neat models - both characters and surroundings. Design has always been our strongest point Nintendo, and from an artistic point of view executed so impeccably that similar picture looks great on its own, regardless of technical conventions.

For portable console the game looks like a real Next Gen - this is especially noticeable if you run it next to Nintendo 3DS And Mario Kart 7. Permissions in 720r in portable mode it is more than enough to provide maximum clarity without any blur or staircases on the screen of the console itself. The image looks very bright, contrasty, with rich colors and everything also “flies” at 60 frames per second.

The only exception is the mode for three and four players on the screen of one console - in this case, the number of frames per second is kept at around 30fps at a resolution of 1080p.

It is worth noting that when playing online in portable mode full charge batteries on maximum brightness and the sound is enough for about three hours of play. Relative to the original version for WiiU, downloads have become faster.

Mario Kart 8 at one time brought the gameplay of the series as close as possible to perfection, but goes further and hones the game to the standard, offering full set arcade fun and allows you to play at home and on the go, enjoying deep mechanics, vibrant graphics and phenomenally thought out and really interestingly designed tracks. It's hard to imagine what I should do Nintendo to make the game even better in the next part. Without a doubt, this is best part series and just an ideal arcade race that will brighten up the wait for a full-fledged new ninth part.

Can Mario Kart be made even better?

Mario Kart is a series of arcade racing games from Nintendo, and this year she will turn twenty-five years old. During this time, Mario Kart has come a long way: five games for home consoles, three projects for portables and three more for arcade machines. Each of these games received some kind of feature that changed the usual gameplay and allowed for a new look at the series. And just recently an improved version was released for Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8, with subtitle Deluxe.

Mario Kart is a simple game

There is no plot, no cut scenes, no training modes - only gameplay. The basics of control will become clear after half an hour of play, and that’s quite enough.

The selection of characters in the game is large enough to keep you guessing.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe users are in luck - unlike Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, there's no character unlocking required. All forty-two racers are available from the start. It's very easy to start playing: just select a character, then choose a vehicle, wheels and a glider for him.

Press the “-” or “+” button and you will be shown five parameters: speed, acceleration, weight, handling and flotation. Here you can enable smart controls, one of the innovations in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it can help novice racers. Thanks to it, you won't fly off the road; the AI will drive the car for you.

The second new feature of the Deluxe version is auto acceleration, in which you do not need to constantly hold the “A” button. These features are great for those who plan to play Mario Kart with young children, making it easier for them to learn. The only problem with smart steering and auto acceleration is that they are enabled by default and it is not mentioned anywhere. This can be confusing for those who are surprised to find that the kart drives smoothly on the track on its own. So if you don't need these features, be sure to turn them off.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe features four single-player modes, local multiplayer, online multiplayer and wireless play. It is best to hone your skills in single “Grand Prix”, “Time Trial”, “Race” and “Fight”. In “Grand Prix” and “Race” you can choose the speed at which the racers move around the track: 50, 100, 150 or 200cc.

By the way, in the Wii U version 200 cubes were added only in one of the updates, but here everything is available immediately. Well, if you want more variety, you can install mirror tracks, however, they are only available at a speed of 150. There are twelve cups in the “Grand Prix”, in each of which you need to complete four tracks.

There are forty-eight tracks in the game: original Mario Kart 8 locations and remastered routes from previous games. Unfortunately, full-fledged new tracks were not added to the Deluxe version. But only those who played Mario Kart 8 on Wii U will notice this.

The “Race” mode offers you flexible competition settings: from four to forty-eight races, three levels of bot difficulty, speed and tracks. You can choose the latter yourself, turn them on randomly, or put them in order. “Race” is very useful for training!

In the “Time Trial” mode, you will be allowed to drive any track alone at a speed of 150 or 200cc - against the clock, of course. You can upload your record to the Internet and compare it with the achievements of other players. You can even learn from the most successful participants! Just download the recording of someone else's race to find out how another player managed to reduce their time.

In "Balloon" the main thing is to aim.

In Balloon, the racers have balloons attached to them. Pop your opponents' balloons and take them out of the game to win. Piranha Chase is a type of game involving cops and thieves. Law enforcement officers must catch up with the violators and catch everyone, and they, in turn, must hold out for the allotted time. In the Bob-omb Battle, only bombs will remain in your arsenal. There are also balls waiting for players here, just like in “Balloon”.

In the “Time is money” mode, the one who collects the most coins will win. And in "Face Relay" you need to capture the sun fairy and keep her until time runs out. In all these modes you can fight both alone and in multiplayer.

Mario Kart is a fun game

All items in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Mario Kart wouldn't be Mario Kart if it weren't for the items. Their application is key element gameplay. There are twenty-three items in the game: twenty-two of them you can use in races, and the 23rd only in the “Battle” mode.

Unlike Mario Kart 8, in the Deluxe version, racers can take two power-ups instead of one at a time. Some of them give speed, some protect, some attack - you always need to think about whether to use the item now or hold it for a while. Nintendo does a good job of keeping balance in Mario Kart, in the first place you will almost never get boost items, nor will you get defensive items.

But the riders in last rows a “Bullet Bill” may appear, rushing on autopilot, knocking down everyone in its path. It happens that you are showered with coins all along the track, only slightly increasing your speed, while your opponents constantly throw shells at you - a sad situation. And it happens that all stars (invulnerability) or booster mushrooms fall out, but you constantly fall, stop in place and still trail behind.

It happens that you lead two and a half laps, and then unsuccessfully catch several unpleasant enemy “buns”... and now you are surprised to finish twelfth! But don’t think that everything is so bad, it can also be the other way around: from last place on accelerator mushrooms and “Bill-bullets” straight to the favorites of the tournament.

Overall, each race is unique, depending on what items you drop and who you play with, which is why Mario Kart is loved!

Bullet Bill in action.

Thanks to the hybrid nature of the Nintendo Switch Mario game Kart 8 Deluxe purchased wide range multiplayer capabilities. You can play with four consoles, or connect eight Switches together local network, or even go online and rise in the rankings there alone, as well as together from one console.

But for multiple people on the same Switch, it's best to play in TV mode. On a desktop, unfortunately, it’s more difficult - the screen is still too small. While two people can still bend over the tablet and drive normally, when the six-inch screen is divided into four parts, the image becomes too small.

In this sense, it is most convenient to play with local connection. You can sit with friends at Mario Kart and excitedly comment on the race. After all, everyone has their own Switch and no one bothers anyone! True, there was a fly in the ointment: in the middle of the race, a “Communication error” window often appears, and then the player crashes. All that remains is to recreate the race, otherwise the “flyer” will not be able to return to the lobby.

This, by the way, also happens online. A “communication error” occurs at the most inopportune moment and forces you to connect again. But the Wii U didn't experience such frequent tearing, so we hope Nintendo fixes the software soon.

Despite the crashes from the lobby, playing online is incredibly enjoyable. Ranked races on regular tracks and in Battle mode, competitions, races with friends - all this multiplayer variety will provide hundreds of fun hours in the game.

Mario Kart is a difficult game

In many Nintendo games deep mechanics, and Mario Kart is no exception. After losing online, you begin to notice what your opponents are driving and why they always end up ahead of you. Not all maps, motorcycles, wheels and gliders are initially open. New gadgets can be exchanged for coins collected during the race. The game counts the total number of coins, and for every 50 (and subsequently for 100 and 200) it gives access to one random item. In total you need to collect 5000 coins. For them you will open the last item - a golden glider. Once you have it, you can start testing out your builds and not have to worry about anything being missing.

Nintendo has made a very clever system, the basis of which is the racer. Each character has its own characteristics, and the car, wheels and glider influence it in one way or another. Therefore, it is important to find an option that will allow you to ride comfortably. Although, of course, you can spy on top assemblies on the Internet. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, build stats aren't rounded to the nearest whole number like before, so many of the details are now more useful.

When I was in first place and there were no signs of trouble...

Complicating matters is that the characteristics of the racers are hidden from the players. Not all parameters are visible to you, and it’s not clear why Nintendo still doesn’t show full statistics in Game. However, you can notice that some characters (for example, Rosalina, King Boo and Link) differ only in appearance, but they have the same characteristics. But to find out the exact parameters of the characters, you will have to search on fan sites.

One of the main mechanics in the game is drifting. You can enter it by holding "R". Drifting is a technique that, during a long, controlled drift, causes a sheaf of sparks from under the wheels of the car. Release the R button right in the middle of these flashes and you'll get a brief boost. Previously, drift produced two types of sparks: blue and orange. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has added a third variety - purple. You can get them in a longer drift. Wait for the purple sparks and the boost will last longer.

Another tricky mechanic is wind. If you follow an opponent close enough to him for a while, a speed-up vortex will appear around your character for a few seconds. Very useful thing, especially when you need to catch up with your opponents, but you just can’t find any suitable items for this.

One of the innovations of Mario Kart 8, anti-gravity, of course, is also in Deluxe. It is easy to see on the track - the transition is indicated by blue stripes, behind which you can move along the walls or along the ceiling. In addition, in the anti-gravity zone it is useful to push with other racers: in the event of a collision, each of you will receive a slight acceleration.

When everyone has overtaken you.

Advanced players can try to get Gold Mario, Gold Kart, Wheels and Glider. We have already written that for the golden glider you need to collect 5000 coins. To get golden wheels, beat other racers on all tracks at 150cc in Time Trial mode. A gold kart will be given for first places on all mirror tracks in the Grand Prix mode. Well, you will get Golden Mario when you take first place on all tracks at a speed of 200cc in the “Grand Prix” mode. Unfortunately, such a valuable Mario is absolutely useless - only cosmetic changes, nothing more.

Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The Deluxe version takes Mario Kart 8 to a higher level. The game runs at 1080p at 60 fps in TV mode on Switch, which is much higher than the original version (which ran at 720p). The loading time has been greatly reduced - from 22 seconds to 9. The music is still excellent, you can listen to it endlessly, and it does not get boring even after fifty hours of play.

When the character you created becomes truly famous, it is difficult to resist the temptation and not start chasing him around in games of several genres. So Mario tried a dozen and a half professions, even managing to be a figure skater and a doctor. But what the mustachioed hero does best (except for rescuing princesses, of course) is to turn the wheel, which is the subject of as many as eight games in the series Mario Kart. The latter of them was previously released on Wii U, but recently received an expanded re-release for Switch.

The first part of this racing series, which appeared twenty-five years ago, Super Mario Kart It didn’t revolutionize the genre, but it deservedly broke the bank. Characters beloved by millions, clever track design, nice pictures and the ability to radically change the course of the race thanks to bonuses scattered on the road - this is the formula for success, which in essence has not changed since then. From time to time Mario Kart Competitors appear, but even the best of them quickly fade away: for Nintendo, the racing series of games has become one of the most important, and it is very difficult to compete with the Japanese giant.

Carefully! Bugmobile on the track!

On land, under water and in the air

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, like its predecessors, is very difficult to take seriously from the outside: when watching the “crush” going on on the track, you get the feeling that the outcome of the race depends only on chance. But once you get behind the wheel yourself (especially in online races), it becomes clear that luck can affect the balance of power in a single race, but not in the entire championship. Becoming a real master here is very, very difficult: even after dozens of hours, every now and then you discover a new trick for yourself, find a more successful trajectory for passing the route, or find out that what you seem to have set optimal settings the cars actually weren't.

Each racing kart consists of a body and wheels, both of which we can choose from a couple of dozen options. Stylish appearance should not be neglected, but the main purpose of this fuss is to increase or decrease the speed, acceleration, handling, weight and maneuverability of the car. These characteristics are also slightly influenced by paragliders, of which there are also a dozen to choose from. Well, the characters themselves, of course: although you won’t find specific numbers in the game itself, the heroes have different masses, and they give a certain increase in characteristics depending on what mode the car is in: normal, underwater, airborne or anti-gravity.

It’s not even worth playing with less than a hundred “cubes”, but with two hundred, get ready for emergency braking

The designers' imagination was clearly limited on the classic tracks, therefore, in addition to the typical deserts, cities and gorges, races can take place in the world of toys, and inside a huge clock, and even through the expanses of the kingdom of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda. Total for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the developers have prepared forty-eight tracks.

MK8 vs. MK8D

Statistics say that almost every Wii U owner has Mario Kart 8, which means that almost no one owns this game. Therefore, the logic of Nintendo, which released a “deluxe” version for Switch, is also understandable - it is not right for such beauty to disappear into obscurity. IN new version The frame rate has increased, the detail of the tracks has increased and, of course, new content has appeared. For example, additional characters, but the most changes were noticed in the “Battle” mode. Not only did the designers design a number of special arenas for battles, but they also prepared five new disciplines. The most successful event was the “Face Relay” - a kind of racing version of the fight for the flag in the “every man for himself” format. The dynamics here are reminiscent of shooters and will certainly appeal to those who get bored standard mode"The Grand Prix".

The racers themselves match the tracks: Mario, Bowser, Peach and many other characters from Super Mario, as well as a dozen “guest stars” like Link. Each has its own animations, and special menu viewing replays of Mario Kart TV allows you to full program enjoy the most striking episodes of the race.

During the race itself, there is especially no time to look around. The game mechanics are surprisingly deep, and there are a dozen ways to get additional acceleration alone. Everyone knows that you need to drift in turns, but how many remember the need to do tricks on every ramp and pick up all the coins? You also need to approach objects wisely. If you use them at the first opportunity, then banana peels and even red homing shells will be of little use. The same applies to acceleration mushrooms, which will send an inept racer not to victory, but into the abyss. And it doesn’t hurt to learn all the turns of each track either. Moreover, some of the routes are not circular, but represent a long winding path, and sometimes even downhill - for additional acceleration.

Four players can play on one screen, but then you will have to buy additional controllers

Just a song

The achievements of animators are in no way inferior to the work of designers. Despite the most direct relationship with the Wii U version, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still looks fantastic. Here you will find a real riot of colors, constantly changing scenery, and tracks with many interesting details. The soundtrack, filled with instrumental compositions, was more than fitting, with each track given its own, rich melody - exactly the kind that should accompany such a game and such a picture.

Basic set Switch controllers allows you to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together, and it immediately becomes clear that this game is ideal entertainment for a noisy company. Meanwhile, real battles are raging on the Internet, and their intensity will likely continue for many months. New Mario Kart not only was it a success: after it, you really don’t know what else the developers can surprise you with in the next parts of the series.

Mario Kart games traditionally have a lot of content that is locked when the game starts. For years, players have had to win championships to unlock new stages, but in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, all content is available from launch. In this guide, you will learn how to unlock golden Mario and how to stop Blue Shells.

How to unlock golden Mario

The instructions for unlocking golden Mario in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are incredibly simple: you must finish all 200CC races first. That's all. In fact, it is far from easy, getting a gold trophy in every race is extremely challenging task. Therefore, you should follow the following guidelines.

How to Avoid Blue Shells by Increasing Speed

The mushroom is a simple item in Mario Kart 8. Use it and you'll get a speed boost. This item can help you win the race and allow you to dodge Blue Shells. With the mushroom in hand, wait for the Blue Shells to activate its last attack, then use the mushroom to accelerate forward out of the blast radius. It's very difficult to get the timing right, but with a little practice you can get it right. right moment and get huge when trying to win all the 200CC races.

Use Super Horn to block Blue Shells

Watch as Blue Shell gets in front of you and then jumps up as if it wants to show you its belly. At this very moment, use Super Horn and you will prevent this annoying enemy from attacking you. Watch the time carefully and don't miss the right moment.

Setting up map

If speed is not your lifeline, you can use other tactics. Customizing the kart is one of the most fun aspects of Mario Kart 8. Many gamers enjoy tinkering with all the parts and pieces to create the best racing car to do all the racing. For 200CC mode, focus on control. The kart's controls can be adjusted using Traction and Handling gauges to help you turn and drift with precision.

To get the perfect parts for your kart, it's a good idea to compete in easier races and get everything you need as a bonus. This will increase your chances of getting gold Mario.

Use breaks

Race mode will alert players to what's coming next, so it's vital to use your time to get around corners and take advantage of breaks when needed. Even if you want to fly at full power or drift and maneuver around corners, it's better to be careful.

If you manage to get gold in all races, you will be able to go to the character selection screen and see the gold Mario icon where the metal one used to be. Don't worry that you won't be able to pick up Metal Mario anymore, he'll still be available.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an improved version of Mario Kart 8, released for Wii U in 2014. The game offers all the content present in the original (including released add-ons), as well as new adventures and characters. The game contains several game modes, but without a story campaign. Players can try out 48 racing tracks, available in both single and multiplayer modes. Mario Kart 8 also introduces a completely new feature: anti-gravity racing. Vehicles The racers involved can stick to walls or even ceilings, allowing developers to design entirely new abstract race tracks.

The only problem with smart steering and auto acceleration is that they are enabled by default and it is not stated anywhere.

In the "Timed" mode, you will be allowed to drive any track alone at a speed of 150 or 200cc - against time, of course.

"Piranha Chase" is a type of game with police officers and thieves.

Their use is a key element of gameplay. There are twenty-three items in the game: twenty-two of them you can use in races, and the 23rd only in the “Battle” mode.

Unlike Mario Kart 8, in the Deluxe version, racers can take two power-ups instead of one at a time. Some of them give speed, some protect, some attack - you always need to think whether to use the item now or hold it for a while. Nintendo does a good job of keeping balance in Mario Kart, in the first place you will almost never get boost items, nor will you get defensive items.

But the riders in the last rows may get a “Bullet Bill”, rushing on autopilot, knocking down everyone in its path.

In general, each race is unique, it all depends on what items you drop and who you play with - that's why Mario Kart is loved!

Bullet Bill in action.

Thanks to the hybrid nature of the Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has gained a wide range of multiplayer capabilities. You can play with four players from a console, or connect eight Switches to a local network, or even go online and rise in the rankings alone, as well as together from one console.

But for multiple people on the same Switch, it's best to play in TV mode. On a desktop, unfortunately, it’s more difficult - the screen is still too small. While two people can still bend over the tablet and drive normally, when the six-inch screen is divided into four parts, the image becomes too small.

In this sense, it is most convenient to play with a local connection.

Ranked races on regular tracks and in the “Battle” mode, competitions, races with friends - all this multiplayer variety will provide hundreds of fun hours in the game.

Mario Kart is a difficult game

Many Nintendo games have deep mechanics, and Mario Kart is no exception.

Not all parameters are visible to you, and it is not clear why Nintendo still does not show complete statistics in the game.

Drifting is a technique that, in a long controlled drift, causes a sheaf of sparks from under the wheels of the car.

A very useful thing, especially when you need to catch up with opponents, but you just can’t come across any suitable items for this.
