Description of the modes of washing in an automatic washing machine. The most important criteria when choosing a washing machine

"Four kilograms will be enough for me, if only it is narrow." The result of an incorrect calculation of the load is a breakdown of the machine as a result of overload. A family can grow, the number of things can increase - after all, a washing machine is not bought for a year or two. In addition, for wool, down jackets and padding polyester, terry dressing gowns and towels, completely different loading rules apply, since these things and materials strongly absorb water and become very heavy (for example, if you can put 3.5 kg of ordinary linen in the machine, then wool - only 700-800 g). Now there is a fairly large selection of narrow models with a large load. For allergy sufferers, a small load is not at all suitable, because they often need to wash pillows and blankets, and this requires a load of at least 5-6 kg.

Don't overload her

The pursuit of maximum programs and functions

As a rule, we use three or four programs, the remaining twenty will remain dead weight, for which, however, it has been paid. There are just frankly advertising marketing programs - no sense from them, they are called loudly - for example, "removing allergens." In fact, in case of allergies, it is enough to use a liquid hypoallergenic or baby detergent, which is easier to wash out than a powder, and include an additional rinse (this is a useful program).

Or the “program for black” is just a low-temperature mode, and for washing black things it is useful to use special detergents for black - they do not contain optical brighteners, due to which “gray hair” appears on black.

A very controversial thing is the "stain removal program": most often this is the name for direct injection of detergent onto the laundry and very intensive rotation of the drum so that stains are removed by intense friction. To remove stains from proteins, fats and carbohydrates, it is much more useful to use enzyme powders and the presence of a bio-phase in the main washing programs, when the temperature is kept about 40 degrees for 15-20 minutes, so that the enzymes can do their job and eat the stains (and then you can and continue to heat).

WoolMark certificate is usually placed on the control panel

The most necessary programs, in addition to the standard ones, are short wash programs (there are modes from 12-14 minutes), programs for refreshing with steam or ozone (for things that you will not take to dry cleaning after each wear), programs for washing wool, certified by the WoolMark Institute (guarantee that even pure cashmere will be washed very carefully and retain its shape), programs (or functions at the end of each program) for ironing out the laundry. This means either simply shaking the laundry in the drum (less effective, but better than nothing), or steam ironing is more effective, provided that the machine is not overloaded. Of course, this is not ironing - just preparation for it. A useful function is night mode, when the machine does not spin, but only washes. In the morning, you need to turn on the spin manually.

Refusal from a dryer, although finances allow

“I had to buy with drying, I’ll have to take a new car” - you hear this more and more often from people who have become parents (yes, they did not plan a year ago); from those who worked remotely, but now work in the office and must wash and dry things more often; from those who realized that there is nowhere to dry and a clothes dryer in the room spoils the interior and takes up space. Yes, washer-dryers are more expensive, but now they have penetrated into the middle and economy segments, and by the way, narrow (well, relatively narrow) tumble dryers have appeared. Their depth is 44-45 cm, manufacturers are LG, Samsung, Candy.

Drying can come in handy

Inconvenient interface

Buying a car blindly online is a dangerous thing, because in the pictures it is not very clear whether it will be convenient to operate it, and making friends with the programmer and the display is very important: it depends on whether you wash your favorite sweater in the wrong program, not use your knee to turn off the washing machine under the sink, etc. The presence of a display is a great thing, here it should be borne in mind that a text display is more informative than a digital one.

The interface should speak Russian or be intuitive

Ignoring all levels of security

Protection against leaks - full (hoses and housing) or partial (one or the other) - is available in every modern machine: these are sensors that turn off the water supply in certain cases. It is better if the protection is complete - this is understandable.

Protection against voltage surges in the network is equally important (the machine turns off when there are sudden changes). If there is no such protection, it is better to immediately buy a voltage control relay, especially if the car is planned to be operated outside the city, because there are power surges - almost the norm.

And the third point is a child lock, the presence of which is strictly necessary if there are kids in the house.

No delayed start timer

“Why do I need him? When necessary, then I will wash ”. Well, for example, to save on nightly electricity rates. You can, of course, just turn on the car at night, but in the evening, in a state of fatigue, it is so easy to forget about it. It is more convenient to schedule a night wash during the day.

Ignoring smart technology

Modern models have many “smart” features that make life easier for the user, extend the life of the machine and help save water and electricity. Among them are brushless inverter motors (all manufacturers give them a 10-year warranty, there is almost nothing to break down, in addition, inverter machines are very quiet); automatic weighing of the laundry (based on this, the machine calculates the amount of water, the duration of the washing program, the number of revolutions during spinning); imbalance control (if the laundry gets knocked into a lump, the drum makes short multidirectional rotations, trying to redistribute the laundry).

"Finally, the hour has come ..." and you decided to buy a new washing machine. High quality, reliable, comfortable. How to choose it? A hardworking clever girl who herself washes all the linen, rinses it, and even dries it?

In this article, we will not tell you which brand of washing machine is better. Rather, it is a matter of personal preference and financial capacity.

But what functions modern washing units have - we will share. So that you go to the store savvy and know exactly what parameters of the "washing machine" you need to pay attention to.

Types of washing machines

There are two fundamental points that you must consider when choosing. These are washing class and energy class. It depends on them how efficient and economical the use of the washing machine will be.

Washing class denoted by Latin letters (A, B ...). The further the letter is from the beginning of the alphabet, the worse your washing machine will wash.

Energy class denoted similarly. The most economical units are marked with the letter "A" or "A +". A plus is in addition to the main grade and means a slightly higher level.

And one more small but important piece of advice. If you are going to buy a new washing machine and build it into a kitchen set, choose a model not for a beautiful design (you will not need it), but for the presence of special fasteners. On which you and "plant" the panels of the kitchen cabinet or cabinet.

The second thing you need to pay attention to when choosing is how you load the laundry into the drum.

Front and vertical loading method ... The front model is equipped with a "porthole" door on the front panel of the case. The vertical model has such a door (only not transparent) on top. With a limited area of \ u200b \ u200bthe room, the second option is more convenient.

And one more thing: by pausing a working vertical machine, you can open it without fear of flooding your neighbors. For what? To add forgotten laundry to it, or vice versa, take out an item that accidentally fell into a loaded batch (colored in white, for example).

Now, let's go directly to the performance characteristics of washing devices.

Washing machine functions - load

... Determines the power of the machine and the amount of laundry (in kilograms) that can be washed at one time. Keep in mind that the larger the load, the higher the energy consumption and the consumption of detergents.

... A very convenient mode, which is supplied with many popular washing machines. It allows you to wash even one thing with high quality, while rebuilding the operation of the unit for less energy, powder and water consumption.

Functions of washing machines - set the mode

Why is it convenient to use a washing machine equipped with an automatic setting mode? The fact that all the operating parameters of washing can be programmed by two or three presses of the desired buttons.

At electronic-mechanical setting the main parameters are entered manually, and already for them the electronics adjusts the additional functions. Electronic control allows you to set the mode by pressing one or two buttons. Touch control it does without buttons at all - you just have to touch your finger to the desired image on the display.

Functions of washing machines - washing, spinning

So, what functions are provided with modern "washing machines"?

Washing mode regulator ... With one turn or press "tells" the washing machine what is required of it. Depending on the selected mode, the machine itself adjusts the necessary parameters: water temperature, spin speed, washing duration, etc.

Quick wash ... This mode is perfect for express washing of not very dirty laundry. Unlike the standard wash cycle, the fast cycle lasts only 30 minutes.

Bio-enzyme phase ... The presence of this option allows the use of special products that wash almost any stains, even at a relatively low temperature. The only drawback is that a machine with this function is much more expensive than other washing units. Yes, and funds with enzyme supplements will also have to fork out extra money.

Leakage protection ... Keeps you and your neighbors from being flooded if the hoses fail. You can remove excess water from the washing machine through the emergency drain system.

Extra rinse ... A very convenient function if the laundry requires a more thorough rinsing. Allows you to remove even the smallest residues of detergent from the laundry. It will not be superfluous if there are small children or allergy sufferers in the house.

The number of revolutions during spinning ... The parameter affects the level of residual moisture in the washed laundry. The more revolutions, the drier your things will be. The most popular washing machines are limited to a maximum of 1000 rpm. It is optimal in terms of the ratio of spin quality / energy consumption.

Canceling spin ... The mode allows you to do without spinning at all. Convenient when washing delicate items or items that are recommended to be wrung out by hand.

Drying . If you are lucky enough to buy a new washing machine with this feature, you will save time drying your laundry. After the end of the full wash cycle, your clothes will be not only clean, but also absolutely dry and ready to go straight away "under the iron". True, so far only premium class washers have such a mode.

Child protection ... The function locks the control panel, preventing the child from turning on the machine or interfering with its operation. Agree, a good precaution if there are curious kids in the house :)

Here are, perhaps, all the main modes that will make the use of the washing machine comfortable and efficient. You can deal with all the other, secondary functions already on the spot, in the store.

When choosing a washing machine, it is important to pay attention not only to the energy consumption class, drum capacity, but also to the washing modes presented in this model. In modern models, a large number of modes and functions have been developed, the correct use of which guarantees the safety and purity of the product for a long time.

Manufacturers of washing machines in the latest models present a wide range of modes and additional functions that are used to expand the capabilities of this unit and affect its cost. Before placing a program, you must familiarize yourself with what it means and when it is recommended for activation.

In different models, programs of the same type may differ insignificantly in temperature, process duration, number of rinses, spin speed.

Standard

All models have basic modes for different types of fabrics. By choosing one of them, you can adjust the temperature, the number of rinses, the spin speed. At the same time, the electronic module monitors the selected indicators, preventing them from being exceeded, so as not to lower the quality and not damage the laundry. The number of additional programs depends on the brand and the price segment of the model.

  • Cotton (linen)... It is used to care for non-dyed, non-fading colored garments made of cotton, linen at a temperature of 30, 40, 60, 90–95 ° C. Includes 4 rinses with spinning at maximum speed. Duration - from 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on temperature.
  • Synthetics... Washes synthetic, blended fabrics at 40-60 ° C with high spin. Duration - 1 hour 30 minutes-1 hour 50 minutes.
  • Handwash... Suitable for delicate fabrics labeled “Hand Wash Only”. The drum rotates slowly with long pauses. The program provides for rinsing in plenty of water at a temperature of 30–40 ° C without spinning for 50–60 minutes.
  • Wool... In gentle mode, the drum is slightly swayed in a small amount of water with a temperature of up to 40 ° C, preventing the formation of pellets and shrinkage of the item. Squeezes out at minimum speed. The cycle time is 1 hour. Woolen products are loaded at 2/3 of the permissible rate, since wet wool is heavy, and overloading the drum wears out the engine.
  • Silk or Delicate wash... Used for delicate cleaning of viscose, silk and lace products. The drum rotates slowly, with long pauses. The water temperature is 30–40 ° C. Rinse with plenty of water without spinning. At the end of a cycle lasting 1 hour, squeezes at minimum speed.
  • Express wash (fast)... Used for lightly soiled items. Washing at a temperature of 30–40 ° C with spinning at maximum speed takes 15–30 minutes.
  • Daily wash... Used for lightly soiled clothing. Water temperature - 30–40 ° C, extracts at high speeds. The cycle time is 40-60 minutes.
  • Pre-wash (Soak)... Dirty laundry is soaked for up to 2 hours in 30 ° C water before the main wash. In this case, the detergent is placed in the main and prewash compartments.
  • Intensive wash... It is used for cleaning especially dirty, non-fading things made of cotton, linen, synthetics. The cycle lasts 2–4 hours, depending on the model, it is divided into several stages: preliminary soaking - 15–25 minutes; slow wash at 60 ° C - 20-30 min; intensive at 95 ° C - 30 min; slow at 60 ° C - 30 min; intensive rinsing; squeezes at maximum speed. In this mode, the machine operates at maximum loads with a large consumption of water and electricity, therefore it is recommended to run this program in exceptional cases.
  • Biophase... Detergents with enzymes effectively remove biological stains at temperatures of 30–40 ° C. There are several types of enzymes that eliminate certain contaminants, so choose bio-products, focusing on the type of stains.
  • Eco wash... The program gently and thoroughly removes old dirt. Suitable for all types of fabrics. Relevant for washing children's clothes.

It is carried out in 2 stages:

  • biophase;
  • main wash.

At the second stage, the intensity of rotation of the drum is increased, the temperature rises to 60 ° C, enzymes are destroyed, and things are treated with other components of the detergent. Squeezes out at high speeds. Cycle time - 2 hours.

Additional functions

The use of these programs increases the safety, comfort, and economy of the process.

  • Delayed wash mode... Allows you to delay the start of the cycle by 1–24 hours. Powder is poured into the powder receptacle, laundry is loaded into the drum, the delay time is set, after which the machine automatically turns on.
  • Night mode... The program turns off the spin and the sound signal at the end of the cycle.
  • Half (partial) load. This function is useful if you need to wash a small amount of laundry. When activated, the cycle time is shortened and less water is consumed.
  • Water level control... The program automatically determines the amount of water required for an effective wash.
  • Balancing spin... To reduce vibration during spinning, the drum rotates slowly until the laundry is evenly distributed over it. Then the spin is activated at high speeds.
  • Water transparency control... Increases the number of rinses if necessary until the remaining detergent is removed.
  • Spinning... Separate spin function with self-adjusting speed.
  • Draining... Water is removed from the drum without rinsing and spinning.
  • Rinse with drain... The linen is rinsed several times, followed by spinning at the set speed.
  • Disabling the spin... The program ends the cycle without the intended spin.
  • Extra rinse... Additionally rinses things 1 more time.
  • Easy ironing... Disables the intermediate spin during rinsing, at the end of the cycle, reduces the number of revolutions. The laundry remains slightly damp, less wrinkled, which makes it easier to iron later.
  • Foam control... Excess foam is automatically removed during the entire cycle.
  • Troubleshooting... In case of interruptions in the operation of the unit, the electronic module conducts a self-diagnosis and the display shows a malfunction code.

How to choose temperature and mode

The required program is selected in relation to the material of the product and the degree of its contamination. To help you choose the right wash cycle for maintaining the quality of your garment, the manufacturer indicates on the care labels.

To wash the laundry with an independent change in the cycle temperature, the spin speeds are guided by their maximum allowable values:

  • light cotton, linen - 60–95 ° C at 1400 rpm;
  • colored cotton, linen - 40 ° C at 1400 rpm;
  • synthetics - 40 ° C at 600 rpm;
  • delicate fabrics, silk - 40 ° C at 400 rpm;
  • wool - 40 ° C at 800 rpm.

Washing rules in a washing machine

So that things do not deteriorate, and the quality of cleaning is high, the basic rules are observed:

  • dirty laundry is pre-sorted by type of fabric, color and dirtiness;
  • pockets free from contents;
  • remove belts, loose accessories, metal objects;
  • fasten zippers, buttons, buttons;
  • terry products, trousers, skirts, knitwear, socks are turned inside out;
  • turn the pillowcases and duvet covers inside out, remove the fleece that has accumulated in the corners;
  • to improve the quality of washing, laundry of different sizes is loaded into the drum;
  • detergents, softeners, bleaching agents are placed in special compartments of the powder receptacle;
  • use washing powders and gels intended for automatic machines;
  • detergents have been developed for different types of fabrics;
  • do not exceed the dosage of the agents used;
  • comply with the permissible load of laundry;
  • set the mode, temperature and spin speed depending on the loaded laundry.

To extend the life of the washing machine, the following rules are followed:

  1. Overloading the laundry significantly reduces the quality of washing and leads to breakdown of the unit.
  2. Do not leave washed laundry in the drum for a long time.
  3. Use high-quality detergents according to their purpose.
  4. Do not exceed the dosage of washing powders.
  5. Periodically carry out preventive cleaning of the machine.

A modern automatic machine is equipped with a large number of programs and functions for caring for products from any material. Their correct choice preserves the integrity of the product, increases efficiency, saves resources, and extends the life of the washing machine.

In the models of new generation washing machines there are only 3 - 4 basic programs for different types of laundry and several additional ones, different in all models. By selecting one of the programs on the control panel, you set the temperature, the number of revolutions and rinses. At the same time, the electronic brain of the machine makes sure that your settings correspond to the type of tissue you have chosen, and in case of an error, makes the necessary adjustments. Basic usability is provided by 4 programs:

1. Washing of cotton and linen products at a temperature of about 95 C;
2. Washing synthetic and colored items at a temperature of about 60 C;
3. Washing delicate items from delicate fabrics at a temperature of about 40 C;
4. Wool wash at 40 C.

Additional modes and functions allow you to select the optimal washing mode for any type of laundry with varying degrees of soiling, prevent jams, and minimize detergent residues. But each additional function increases the price of the car.

For the owners of the most advanced models with a choice of programs, it is easiest. For example, Whirlpool washing machines are equipped with a 6th Sense control system. The owner only needs to set the selector to the type of fabric that he is going to wash. On the display, he will read the washing temperature set by the machine for this type of fabric, the rotation speed of the drum during spinning and the estimated washing time. However, most cars of the middle and budget price range still require some of the simplest knowledge from you.

Below are the most common additional modes and functions found in various washing machines.

Modes:

  • "AQUASTOP"- leakage protection system. Protection is achieved by a safety valve on the water tap and, inlet hose with automatic pressure relief
  • "FUZZY CONTROL"- an electronic system that monitors the washing process and individually adjusts the program depending on the type and amount of laundry. In addition, the Fuzzy Control system adjusts the water flow during rinsing according to the load. If an excessive amount of foam occurs during rinsing, the system activates an additional rinse cycle and, if necessary, changes the rhythm of the drum rotation. And finally, the Fuzzy Control system monitors the spinning process, recognizing the degree of imbalance (formation of lumps) of the laundry in the drum, and selects such a mode so that the laundry is constantly spinning at the maximum possible speed.
  • "FUZZY LOGIC"- electronic technology, providing for the control of parameters and operating modes of the washing machine. Fuzzy Logic determines the weight of the loaded laundry (as a function of the amount of water absorbed by the fabric); the result is compared with the values stored in the processor's memory; the predicted duration of the wash cycle is set. In addition, the system controls the drum rotation speed during washing and spinning, the washing temperature, the number of rinses, etc.
  • "Prewash"- used for heavily soiled laundry: before washing, the laundry is soaked in water with detergent for about 2 hours at a temperature of about 30 ° C.
  • "Handwash"- the machine washes more carefully and efficiently than can be done by hand, because the drum only sways and the mechanical effect on the laundry is minimal.
  • "Economical wash"- carried out at a lower temperature. The wash time is lengthened, but water, energy and detergents are saved.
  • "Quick wash"- shortening the wash cycle for lightly soiled laundry, saving time, water, electricity and detergents by up to 30%.
  • "Daily wash"- assumes an incomplete drum load and the ability to wash clothes for no more than 40 minutes at a temperature of about 30 ° C (to "refresh" clothes after a working day).
  • "Heating up to 90 degrees"- allows you to wash heavily soiled items.
  • "Intensive wash"- for washing stubborn stains at elevated temperatures and an extended cycle.
  • "Biophase"- allows you to use washing powders with bioenzymes and wash even very dirty laundry at a temperature of no more than 40 ° C.
  • "Eco-program"- for washing with enzyme powders at high temperatures provides excellent washing even very dirty items.
  • "Soft wool"- very gentle washing of woolen products due to the rotation of the drum at a speed of up to 36 rpm.
  • "Removing stains"- used to remove stubborn stains at 40 ° C.
  • "More water"- for more thorough rinsing and washing of products, better removal of residues of washing powder.
  • "Extra rinse"- an additional rinse cycle to rinse out the remains of detergents.
  • "Repeated rinsing"- turns on the mode of 4 or 5 rinsing, which does not even leave traces of detergents in clean laundry.
  • "Anti-crease"- specially calculated spin mode, which prevents linen jams and makes ironing much easier. At a drum rotation speed of about 30 rpm, the laundry sways in the drum for about 30 minutes. Spinning is carried out with long pauses and a gradual increase in speed.

    Functions:

  • "Delay on"- allows you to postpone the turn-on time of the machine to a convenient time for you (by 1 - 24 hours).
  • - it is used when there is not enough laundry for a full load. Washing is faster, the load on the machine is reduced, and the service life is increased.
  • "Direct injection of cleaning solution"- ensures the dissolution of 100% of the detergent, higher washing quality, energy and water savings.
  • "Eliminate excess foam"- in case of an error in the choice of washing powder or its overdose, it will stop the drum and drain the excess foamy water.
  • "Automatic water level control"- selects the optimal amount of water depending on the load and the rate at which the laundry gets wet. The water heats up faster, reducing washing time and energy consumption.
  • "Control of water transparency"- selects the number of rinses. If, after two rinses, the sensor detects that the water is clear enough, the third cycle is canceled.
  • "Controlling the balancing of laundry during spinning"- Provides almost complete damping of vibrations, which protects the machine from premature failure and significantly reduces noise. Spinning will not start until the laundry is evenly distributed throughout the drum.
  • "Regulation of the speed of rotation of the drum during spinning"- from high, for wringing out coarse fabrics, to low, non-spoiling fine delicate fabrics, allows you to rationally use the capabilities of the machine.
  • "Spin off"- allows you to lay out delicate items before the final spin and then squeeze them by hand, helps to preserve delicate fabrics.
  • "Self-diagnosis of malfunctions"- allows you to see on the display the reasons for the failure of the machine: the hatch door is open, the heater is faulty, there is no water supply, water overflow. LED indicators inform about ongoing processes and emerging deviations or malfunctions. The alarm alerts you to take action.

    If you have any questions, you can ask them in the section

  • It is impossible to imagine a modern urban home without an automatic washing machine. There are many models on sale, differing in price and technical characteristics. After choosing several options, you should consider the classes (modes) of washing, energy consumption and spinning of suitable machines, since these parameters are much more important than most buyers think.

    What is the washing class

    The class of washing efficiency is usually called the value that characterizes the cleanliness of the washed laundry. The classes are designated in Latin letters from A to G. The highest class is supplemented by the designations A +, A ++ and A +++, since the new washing machines are more advanced.

    To determine the wash class of a particular model, a piece of cotton is soiled in a specific way and washed at 60 ° C for an hour using one of the basic programs. The washed fabric is then compared with a reference sample. Comparison of cleanliness indicators (whiteness and other properties) is carried out using special optical instruments that give the result (washing efficiency coefficient) in digital form.

    Table 1 shows the correspondence between the obtained coefficient and the washing class of the machine:

    In fact, this indicator can hardly be called objective, since it is almost impossible to create identical testing conditions, and the cost of a washing machine directly depends on the value of this coefficient.

    It is almost impossible to catch the difference in the quality of washing classes A +++ and A (sometimes B) with the naked eye. It is enough to take a good quality detergent, and the difference will become generally invisible; it makes no sense to overpay for a prestigious badge in the product's passport. However, when buying, it is better to still choose a car of a higher class, all other things being equal.

    Energy consumption and energy efficiency classes

    The energy class of the automatic washing machine depends on the amount of electricity consumed by the device in the basic mode for washing 1 kg of cotton laundry for 1 hour at a temperature of 60 ° C. The lower this indicator, the higher the class of the washing machine in terms of energy consumption.
    Until 2010, the following gradation of energy consumption classes for automatic washing machines was adopted (Table 2):

    After 2010, instead of the energy class, a new characteristic was introduced - the energy efficiency class. This indicator depends on the energy efficiency index (EEI - Energy Efficiency Index). To assign a value to the new model, the average energy consumption figures for the year are used. Take into account washing modes at different temperatures and partial load. When calculating, it is assumed that the machine goes through 220 full cycles per year. The standard consumption (100%) of electricity for a full cycle (with a load of 6 kg of dry cotton linen) is 1.52 kWh, that is, 334 kWh per year.

    The energy efficiency index is the percentage of the actual energy consumption of a particular model to the standard. The higher the class of the unit, the lower the index value. In order to find out how much electricity a particular washing machine consumes per year, it is enough to multiply the reference consumption (334 kWh) by the index corresponding to the class of the energy consumption model and divide by 100.

    Energy efficiency index values for different classes of washing machines (table 3):

    What does the term "spin class" mean?

    The spin class of the washing machine depends on the amount of moisture in the laundry that has passed the full spin cycle. The lower this indicator, the higher the class. To calculate this coefficient, the dry weight is subtracted from the weight of the wet laundry after spinning, then the result is divided by the weight of the dry laundry and multiplied by 100%.

    The values of the moisture content of the laundry after washing (in%) and the drum rotation speed (rpm) corresponding to the spin classes (table 4):

    The efficiency of spinning is related to energy consumption: the higher the rotation speed of the drum during spinning, the greater the energy consumption. The high-speed spin mode (class A) is mainly needed when washing thick fabrics, for example, denim (denim). A significant mechanical effect on the fabric negatively affects the service life of things and their appearance: creases appear that are difficult to straighten even with an iron or ironing press. It is not necessary to choose a machine with a spin class A, B or C is sufficient.

    Washing modes in the washing machine

    Manufacturers create automatic washing machines with various sets of basic and additional modes. At the same time, both generally accepted names and designations are used, as well as original ones inherent only to this brand. Therefore, it is better to study the meaning of pictograms and inscriptions according to the passport for a specific model.

    There is a set of basic modes that (with minimal differences) all automatic cars have.

    The main operating modes of the washing machine:

    • washing of things made of natural materials: linen or cotton (from +90 to + 95 ° C), - a full cycle, which is used for heavily soiled white laundry, spin at maximum speed;
    • washing clothes made of synthetic materials - gentle mode (+ 60 ° C), spin at maximum speed;
    • washing wool and silk (+ 40 ° C) - gentle mode, in which the drum does not rotate, but only sways from side to side, without spinning, the processing cycle ends by draining the water;
    • delicate washing of delicate and delicate fabrics: underwear, lace and embroidered items that require careful handling. Gentle mode, no spinning (+ 30 ° C).

    All modes can be adjusted using the buttons on the control panel, adding or disabling individual functions.

    Additional washing modes

    In addition to the main ones, automatic washing machines have additional washing modes, which differ in the amount and temperature of water, the length of time of some washing phases, and the drum rotation speed during spinning.

    On machines with electronic control, modes are switched using rotary knobs, and functions can be selected by pressing buttons. If the control is touch-sensitive, then there can be both recessed buttons and those activated by a light touch of the fingers, data on the operation of the machine are displayed on the display.

    On mechanically controlled machines, program selection is made using the rotary knob and buttons on the control panel. Such a machine, in contrast to a similar one with electronic control, can be stopped at any moment of the cycle and switched to another program.

    Mechanical models are more likely to fail due to a large number of moving parts, while electronic ones are damaged as a result of voltage surges.

    Frequently encountered additional washing modes:

    • "Prewash" (soaking) - the program is suitable for very dirty items, which are initially in a cold detergent solution for several hours, then the main wash begins. In this mode, two portions must be poured into the powder container, using both compartments;
    • "Intensive wash" - used when you need to remove stains. The water is gradually heated up to + 60 ° C, and after the initial treatment of the stains, the temperature reaches + 90 ° C;
    • "Quick wash" - this program is used for daily care of things. The cycle ends after 15-30 minutes at a water temperature of 30-40 ° C. Washing parameters depend on the brand of the machine. If you need to quickly wash things without heavy dirt, this mode is the best;
    • "Economic mode" - provides washing of cotton and linen at a low temperature, with low water and energy consumption. Due to the increase in the processing time, the quality of the wash does not suffer;
    • "Half load" - this mode is very convenient in cases when things need to be washed urgently, but there are not enough of them for a full load. The washing time will be reduced, therefore, the consumption of water, electricity and detergent will be reduced;
    • "Easy ironing" - when washing in this mode, the laundry is constantly straightened and not wrinkled due to the slow rotation of the drum with the intermediate spin function disabled. The final spinning takes place at a reduced speed. Things after such processing are easy to iron.

    Automatic washing machines are equipped with a set of useful functions, with the help of which the washing process becomes even more convenient:

    • "Delayed start" - allows you to program the start of washing in the selected mode within 24 hours, which is convenient for busy people;
    • "Additional rinse" is a very useful option if you need to thoroughly remove the remaining detergent from baby, underwear and bed linen;
    • "A lot of water" - when washing and rinsing in an increased amount of water, it is easier to completely get rid of the smell and residues of washing powder;
    • "Rinse delay" - if it is not possible to immediately take out the laundry at the end of the wash cycle, it is better to leave it in water so that creases and unnecessary folds do not appear. At a convenient time, the drain and spin functions are started, after which clean items are taken out of the drum;
    • "Night wash" - this function makes the process almost silent, as it completely eliminates spinning. In the morning you can finish washing by switching on the "drain" and "spin" modes in sequence.

    Security modes

    When designing modern automatic machines, manufacturers place great emphasis on safety. The following locks may be provided on different models:

    • protection against leaks. Thanks to this function, the water supply automatically stops, if there is a danger of leakage, sometimes the device turns off completely, it depends on the model;
    • foam suppression system. Excessive foam can cause leakage. With the help of a special sensor that determines the amount of foam during draining and spinning, the suction is turned on, excess foam is removed and the cycle continues;
    • balancing control. With a significant imbalance, the machine begins to vibrate strongly, the sensor turns on a special shaking mode, in which the laundry is evenly distributed over the drum due to slow reverse rotation (alternately, clockwise and in the opposite direction). This function protects the car from mechanical damage;
    • protection from children. Reliable door lock so that the baby cannot open the door in any way either during work or in standby mode.

    P.S. It often happens that the happy owner of a car with a maximum set of various interesting modes does not find time to understand them and uses only a few. So is it worth buying an expensive model, because the more washing modes, the higher the price and the risk of spoiling complex equipment? It is better to take a closer look at reliable and high-quality units with a high energy efficiency class, without too complex programs that may not be needed.
