OneDrive - what is this program? How to disable, how to delete OneDrive cloud? Disable OneDrive through the system registry. Sign in to OneDrive through the app

Hey! We continue to disassemble the Windows 10 operating system! Today you will learn how to run the OneDrive app on Windows computer 10. OneDrive is an online storage that is available to all users Windows systems 10. You can save files to OneDrive and they will always be available to you from any computer or mobile device. OneDrive is easy to connect on your Windows 10 PC!

To start OneDrive, at the bottom of the screen on the left, open the menu "Start"... In the window that opens, in the list of all applications, find english letter O. There will be a tab under the letter "OneDrive", click on this tab.

Next, you will see a window for connecting OneDrive. Enter your address in the field Email, which is linked to your account on your Windows 10 computer. Enter your email and click on the button - Login.

Note! The OneDrive icon should display a green checkmark, which means OneDrive is synced to your computer.

Everything is ready! It's that easy, you can connect the OneDrive app and store important files in it that will never get lost!

Uninstall via the program menu in Windows 10, unlike many other Microsoft programs on this list.

Minuses

When you turn off synchronization, it deletes all files from the computer that it can reach.

Synchronizes what is not required.

I saw this message: " Microsoft OneDrive

Don't want to sync some items on this computer?

If you stop syncing files or folders, they will remain in OneDrive but will not appear on your computer. If they are already stored on the computer, they will be deleted from it. "

Outright blackmail!

And I also decided to clean the cloud storage, deleted the Fallout 4 game saves from it, which took 2 months to pass, the result is this - The game opens but there are no saves. More than two gigabytes are gone.

I deleted everything from the repository altogether, turned it off his is the result: files were deleted from the desktop, and from the folder my documents on the computer.

And all this despite the fact that I did not install or configure it (OneDrive). I just wanted to remove something from OneDrive that didn't belong to her.

I deleted OneDrive files from the trash can on the site, cleaned it up, so she told me that the files will be deleted from the site completely only after 2 months, and nevertheless, after a series of messages with errors, the files still disappeared.

Now it is not necessary for nothing, nor 5 not 10 not one hundred gigabytes.

Developers of the Startpack website, please give the opportunity to put a zero-star review for this program, otherwise it’s a pity to put one star, it’s not worth stars at all.

One drive is a built-in cloud service from Microsoft and is included with standard security systems starting from figure eight. This service allows the user store system data on the Internet, you can also move there the most important files and data, which will allow you to access them from anywhere and save them from the danger of loss.

You can use this technology as an additional flash drive for storing and transferring information. The settings can be made in such a way that the data will be available to everyone or anyone except the user.

History of origin

For a wide range technology became available since 2008 in Windows 8, only then it was called SkyDrive (sky drive). Since then, the application has been often modified, it became possible to add photos and your tags to them. Office added in 2010 Web Apps, which is now known as an online office, which allowed work with documents online online. In 2011, the developers radically changed the interface and increased the size of uploaded files to 100 MB.

In 2013, there was a dispute from the word sky in the name of one of the British firms, as a result of the court proceedings the name of the project was changed to what we know it now and in Windows 10 the component was called onedrive.

Application features

Perhaps, main feature of this service can be called full synchronization of all devices. Yes, some of them will require additional installation of applications, but it's worth it. The user will be able to create, view and edit documents from any of their devices. You can do the same with pictures and other files. For some people, it will be very convenient to take a photo on a phone, save it in the cloud, and then immediately open it on a computer, without any wires and transferring from a smartphone to a computer. Initially the user is allocated there is only 5 GB of memory on the disk, for users of the eight this number equals 25, the price for the expansion fluctuates around 140 rubles per year for an additional 50 gigabytes of memory.

Do not forget about the ability to create and edit documents online. This will create a kind of mobile office that will be available practically from any device... You can open access to your documents and other people, thus it is possible to edit one document together, which can greatly help in the work. A good help is saving all parameters and settings in cloud storage, in fact, by going with new system and having entered all their data, the user will no longer have to configure anything, the OS will already be ready for work and configured as needed.

How to get extra seat

Get it for free additional memory you can if you invite other users. For this it is worth going to system parameters and go to the subscription management section, a referral link is available here. It should be sent to your friends or inserted into one of your profiles, for each participant who signs up using this link, the user will receive 500 megabytes, but not more than 10 gigabytes in total.

Here, the user will be able to choose the tariff they need, and then proceed to payment. After it, you can immediately use the entire memory volume of the ondrive cloud.

How to sign in to OneDrive

In order to enter one drive through a browser, you will have to go to the site http://onedrive.com and enter your credentials... If account not yet, you can register here. The interface of this service is not very different from that in other repositories. Files can be added by dragging and dropping or using dedicated button at the top of the screen.

However, for better work it is worth downloading the van drive application for your computer and mobile device from here. In this program, you should also enter your data. Then you have to set up synchronization, you can copy all folders and files to the cloud, you can only copy some or nothing. Here it is worth choosing the best option for yourself.

Everything looks almost the same on a mobile application. Would need download the program, enter your credentials or register, after which you can use it.

How to download and install

On most modern devices with windows, this application is included, if this is not the case, then you can go to the repository site and select there desired option and then download the utility.

For smartphones, you can find the application by name in the standard store, the utility for android is available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.skydrive&hl=ru.

There is nothing special about the installation, after launch, only follow instructions... Only in computer version you will need to choose what exactly to synchronize, and in mobile version in addition to synchronization, you will be prompted to immediately send all videos and photos to disk.

How to use the application and basic settings

In the utility itself, you can go to the parameters, there will be several tabs available. On first you can customize the features of the program launch. On the second the tab should set up those directories that will be synchronized with the storage, so that they can be accessed from another location using your Microsoft onedrive account. On third tab, you can uncheck the box that is responsible for archiving data before transferring it, but it is better to leave it. The user can work with folders on the computer in the same way as always, the created folders will be displayed in the web interface. Here you can also click on the file and click on share, this will send the link to another user. The link can take on the following values:

For such files, there are several privacy settings that will allow you to restrict the actions of users on it. The same actions can be performed in the mobile application, only the interface there will look a little different. Main feature the mobile version is the ability to synchronize all photos and videos, this will allow you to view the footage on your computer, without unnecessary movements and file sharing.

How Microsoft Cloud Works

When working with computer application, this technology will not be very different from the usual hard disk... All files uploaded to it will be available on the computer, and those that the user uploads to the folder will be archived and transferred to Microsoft servers, so they will appear there as well. Such a mechanism will be observed when complete synchronization... If only a few folders are being synchronized, then data will be transferred only from them.

From the mobile application, you can see all data that are located on Microsoft servers, because it is from there, and not from the computer, that it will download them, if necessary. With enabled photo and video sync, this data will be transferred to the cloud when new files are added or old files are changed. Thus, it can be understood that all information is stored on separate servers, which are used as an intermediate link between users or between devices of the same user.

How to uninstall OneDrive

In most cases, uninstalling the program is not difficult. You just need to go to control Panel, install and remove programs and find there the required utility... Then click on it and click on delete. The uninstall wizard will start, the user will only need to follow its instructions.

Hello dear readers of the blog site. I have already written several times about file storage (cloud file hosting) and about their undoubted usefulness and relevance. Now I can no longer imagine my work without, where I necessarily keep everything current documents, as well as site backups.

There is nothing complicated there. If you already had a mailbox in Hotmail or their new Outlook, then just enter it and go to management file storage VanDrive at onedrive.live.com/... For some reason, I did not find the login using the link from the account window.

The interface does not shine with graphical delights, but at the same time, everything is clear and understandable without additional explanations. In the left upper corner to the right of the SkyDrive label there is an arrow to go to the mail interface.

In the lower left corner, you will be shown the size of your file hosting, which is 7 GB by default, and you will also have the opportunity to view the contents of the recycle bin, where all files deleted from the storage go (its size is 10% of the total size).

There are no free ways to increase it, as it was in Dropbox or Yandex disk, and you can only go to "Storage Management" to pay for one of the options for expanding the volume. Sadly, with Dropbox I was able to expand my 2 GB to almost 60 GB for free, which is already quite suitable for full-fledged work with file hosting, when you don't need to think too much about the size of synchronized objects.

At the top of the OneDrive web interface, there are controls for managing files stored there, and to the right are switches for how they are displayed.

Van Drive Program

But we will return to this later, but for now we will use the "Download" button located below. If it is not there, then go to the "Get the application" tab, well, or just click on Download VanDrive, or by button:

Personally, I still use Windows Vista and on it, when you start this application, a message appears "OneDrive (skydrive) cannot start With full rights administrator ". For a couple of years of existence, this problem has not been eliminated by the developers, which indicates their sluggishness, or that outdated systems deliberately bullied.

The rescue of drowning people is the work of the drowning people themselves. Therefore, we solve the problem with a simple enabling UAC service(User Account Control), which I successfully disabled immediately after installing Windows. So, in order to turn UAC back on, I had to go along the thorny path "Start" - "Control Panel" (I have classic look) - "User Accounts" - "Enabling and Disabling UAC":

Check the box and click on OK.

You will be asked to restart your computer, after which, finally, the VanDrive application will start for you. On other operating systems that support this program, there are no problems with its launch - only on Vista, and only with disabled UAC.

You will be immediately prompted enter your Microsoft account (enter login and password from your mailbox in Hotmail or Outlook). Personally, I keep Lately everything, and the very base of Kipas lives in Dropbox, so as not to lose everything at once.

Next, you will be prompted to change the default location of the OneDrive folder, which I always do, because I would not want the "C drive" to grow in volumes to disgrace (then the image in Akronis will turn out to be monstrous). For all file storages, I use "disk D".

On all such file hosting, there is a setting for folders, the contents of which should sync automatically with this particular computer. For example, in Dropbox, we use one single account with the whole family, but synchronize on different computers different folders, because I do not need my wife's files, and she does not need mine.

This setting is necessary, but it makes sense to do it, as it seems to me, a little later, when you have already decided on the structure and purpose of the folders.

Although the SkyDrive installation wizard invites you to do this right now.

Access your computer's file system remotely from another device using the OneDrive web interface

Well, here we got to one of the previously announced features of file storage from Microsoft - the ability to receive through this service access to files on remote computer ... Moreover, these same files do not have to be in the above-mentioned folder, which is subject to synchronization.

Pretty cool feature that can come in handy sometimes.

Now when entering the page onedrive.live.com/ at the bottom of the left column you will see the "Computers" item and below it a list of those devices on which you have installed the VanDrive program (SkyDrive) and have not unchecked the option of remote access to it.

Great, isn't it? I have never seen anything like this among the competitors of this file hosting.

The appearance of the folder and file tree can be changed in the upper right corner, and the folders or files you need can either be added to OneDrive (in fact, moved to shared folder), or download it to the device from where you are doing this remote access.

In my opinion, a great opportunity, but back to our rams, namely the desktop application.

OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) setup and capabilities

It remains only to click on the "Finish" button and in the tray you will see the cloud icon, which you will live there forever.

For those who have never dealt with cloud file hosting, I will explain that the VanDrive folder and all its contents will now live a double life (or even triple, or quadruple, depending on how many computers and laptops you will enter into her under the same account).

Her full copy will always be stored in Microsoft cloud and in case of data loss on the computer, they will be automatically copied from virtual storage as soon as you sign in to your OneDrive account again. This is a very convenient thing, but, as far as I understand, increased storage and encryption security measures will be available to you only when you purchase the paid version.

The settings of this program are hidden in the context menu of this icon in the tray under the item "Parameters".

On the first tab, the autostart of this application is configured; it will also be possible to deny remote access to the computer, if necessary. Here you can also break the link (sign out of your account) with your Microsoft account, for example, in order to enter this file storage under another.

On the second tab, you can already exclude automatic synchronization with those folders, the contents of which are on this computer you don't need to update.

Create your own directory structure and subfolders inside the VanDrive directory, you can by standard means Wimdows by opening it in Explorer or, for example, in.

New files or folders can be added by simply dragging and dropping from other places or copying them through the clipboard (I advise you to try the program to expand its capabilities). The web interface also allows you to do this using the menu of items "Create" from the top panel:

Well, on the third tab, you can disable the default option to speed up data synchronization between your SkyDrive folder and the cloud file storage by compressing all transferred files into the archive. Firstly, this reduces their size, and secondly, uploading one object to the Internet is much faster than a thousand, even if their weight is comparable. It makes sense to leave this checkbox.

If right click You cannot use the mouse (on a tablet, for example), then you can open the tab shown in the screenshot using the icon located on the upper right and select a similar item there:

See the screenshot for the difference between these three ways to share a link:

It is the second option that demonstrates the difference between SkyDrive file hosting (in a new way - VanDrive) from Dropbox and others like it. Office documents can be edited online with the tool Office Web Apps.

Online version of OneDrive, Office Web Apps and more

Moreover, a user who follows such a link will be able to edit the document without even logging into his Microsoft account.

Naturally, you yourself can use Office Web Apps for online editing all stored in the Sky Drive folder office documents ... To do this, you will need to click on it and select from top menu corresponding item.

In general, Office Web Apps is a simplified version office suite and this is how, for example, its window will look when editing a Word document previously loaded into this file storage.

All the most commonly used tools are available. The edited document can be saved there, or you can upload it to your computer or any other device. Again, no other popular file storage has this built-in capability.

When viewing photos in the web interface Van Drive, you will have the opportunity to start a slideshow, flip the image, see other pictures from the same folder in the form of the ribbon below, and in the right tab to see detailed information about this file.

Moreover, if you share with someone a link to a photo or a whole folder with them, then after clicking on it, this person will have access to almost all of the same tools for viewing, and he will not have to log into his account for this. fine soft. ...

Those types of files that cannot be displayed in the web interface, you will be prompted to download. There is also such an option as introduction of objects... What it is? Well, this is the ability to insert an object (photo, document, or something else) into your site through.

But in practice, it’s hard for me to imagine what this could be for. The size of the frame window can be adjusted to the width of your page by changing the numbers directly in the code. As an example, I inserted a Word document just below, which contains a small list of my articles, which I redid in order to.

You can scroll it with the mouse wheel, double-click will increase the scale, but when you click on the button in the lower right corner, you will go to its viewing in SkyDrive.

It goes without saying that there are names of the same mobile applications to access this file hosting: iPhone or iPad, Android or Windows Phone. Naturally, when you sign in, you will be asked for your Microsoft account credentials.

OneDrive for iPad's interface is very simple and almost completely customizable.

In Dropbox, I really liked the ability to automatically sync all photos and videos captured on a mobile device so that you can later view them on desktop computer... I did not find such an opportunity here.

In general, despite a couple of very interesting opportunities VanDrive has not yet impressed me so much that I switched to it from Dropbox. Although, perhaps he will find some suitable application. And what do you think?

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site

Dropbox - how to use cloud storage, as well as work with Dropbox on a computer and mobile

Hello everyone! If you have to use during the day different types computers - a desktop in the office, a laptop at home, a tablet in the car, a smartphone on the street, then it's time to find out - OneDrive what this program is and how it can make your life more comfortable and work productive.

About Microsoft OneDrive

It is not uncommon for promising ideas to come to mind in a completely non-working environment. For example, a journalist came up with a wonderful paragraph of an article while walking in the park and recorded it on his smartphone. After arriving at the editorial office, you will need to switch your mobile device to a laptop or desktop, look for a draft file on your hard drive, insert, edit.

All this takes up a lot of precious time. While the user is looking for cables and thinking where to plug them in, ingenious creative ideas can be forgotten. Microsoft's OneDrive cloud is a great service that takes the hassle out of all of the hassles outlined above in one go.

By connecting to cloud service Microsoft user gets the ability to sync all of its devices. This means that when a journalist has typed part of an article on a tablet, all edits are instantly saved on a remote server. And when the editorial will include office computer, word processor MS Word will immediately open exactly where the notes made on the mobile device ended.

How OneDrive works

OneDrive - what is this program and how does the whole system work? OneDrive is the so-called “ regular disk”, In other words - a service for representing a certain amount of memory on remote server, which can be accessed via the Internet.

Install OneDrive for different platforms can be downloaded from the official website of Microsoft services. Installation is done in the usual way, like any other computer program... It is important to download OneDrive from the official website, as outdated versions may be incompatible with latest updates OS and firmware of mobile devices.

How to use OneDrive - an easy start

To get the right to use the cloud drive, you must be a registered member of the services Microsoft... To put it simply, you need to create a Hotmail email address. It's free and open source.

How do I sync OneDrive on my desktop? During the installation of the OneDrive app on your computer, you will be prompted to select a folder on local disk where folders and files to be synced across all devices will be stored.

If OneDrive was already on the Windows OS distribution, obviously the sync folder will already exist.

With help context menu can produce more fine tuning synchronization.

  • Assign limited sync to only some files and folders.
  • Disable sync completely and store files only on the local drive.
  • All files and folders that need to be synced - move to the OneDrive folder.

When do you use mobile device, in File Manager, you can connect to the Microsoft OneDrive cloud and optionally send files there for storage. When installing the MS Office application on the tablet, log in using your email address and password in the settings, and then, in the process of working with documents, the saving of editorial changes in the cloud storage will be carried out automatically.

Automatically save photos and videos, instantly send to social profiles with OneDrive - how to use? There is nothing complicated here either.

  • During the installation of the application on a smartphone or tablet, a window will appear prompting you to enable the autosave function for photos and videos on remote disk... You can configure it so that light versions of photos are uploaded to the cloud so as not to waste internet traffic.

Similarly, in the OneDrive settings, you can specify accounts in in social networks, where you need to automatically send every photo taken by a smartphone and recorded video.

Troubleshoot OneDrive issues

Sometimes there is such a nuisance that OneDrive does not sync loading indicator local files on the cloud disk does not turn green and the normal synchronization progress is not displayed in the Notification Panel. What could be the problem here?

  • Stay tuned for updates to the operating system of your computer - the outdated version of the OS is common reason OneDrive crashes.
  • Uploading files to the cloud is limited to 10 GB. If the file is larger, synchronization will not occur. Squeeze large file at WinRar help or WinZip and send in archive.

What to do if OneDrive won't launch ? The problem may be an internal failure in the program or operating system... To get started, try restarting your computer and starting over. If restarting doesn't work, uninstall the app and try reinstalling OneDrive.

Sometimes a notification appears that "OneDrive - Personal files are no longer syncing"... In such a situation, the following algorithm helps.

Will reset OneDrive programs and after that normal work should recover.

That's all for OneDrive. There is also an article on my blog about a similar one. See you soon!

Best regards, Evgeny Kuzmenko.
