Review of android-smartphone ZTE Blade A610: modern long-liver of the middle class. ZTE Blade A610 - Specifications

There are many budget devices on the smartphone market right now. They are not encouraging with performance, and developers cannot supply top-level hardware to smartphones for 100-200 euros. One way to get an edge over the competition is to install. This is the path taken by ZTE, releasing the Blade A510 model. The phone was released in 2016.

Specifications

The smartphone received a typical "filling" for a device for 130 euros. The hardware platform is no different: the processor is from MediaTek, 16 GB of permanent memory and 2 GB of RAM. The main competitive advantage of the phone is the 4000 mAh battery.

Release date - September 2016

Completion and packaging

The smartphone comes in a white box. On the front side there is the name of the model, written in a beautiful font in gold color. The back cover is also not very informative - company logo and.
Removing the top cover reveals a smartphone packed in a bag. On the front and back panels of the phone, there are tapes on which the characteristics of the model are indicated.

Appearance and design

What is the most important criterion when choosing a smartphone?

Visually, the ZTE Blade A610 looks more expensive than its real value. The smartphone can be confused with the flagship device, but not the leading brands. For example, Lenovo's flagships are inferior to the hero of the review.

The arrangement of elements on the front panel is standard. Above the screen are sensors, a front camera and an earpiece. At the bottom there are touch keys to control the device. They did not receive backlighting.

Front and back view of the phone

The back cover cannot be removed. It is made of metal with small plastic inserts at the top and bottom. The first of them contains two elements: the main camera module and the flash. The lower plastic insert houses the multimedia speaker grill. The back panel is decorated with the company logo.

Side faces of the phone

The edges of the smartphone are made of plastic painted to look like metal. It is difficult to understand this at once. On the left side of the device there is only a tray for installing SIM cards, while on the right side there are two buttons: a double volume control key and a lock button.

Will be useful

The slot for SIM cards is hybrid, instead of the second SIM card, you can install a microSD memory card to increase the amount of memory if the constant 16 GB is not enough.

On the bottom there is a Micro-USB port and a main microphone, and on the top there is a 3.5mm audio output. The smartphone fits well in the hand. This is achieved through the use of 2.5D glass and the rounded edges of the rear panel. The phone weighs 140 g and measures 145x71x8.65 mm. The ZTE Blade A610 is available in gray, silver and yellow colors.

Display

HD display resolution (1280 × 720)

The hero of the review is equipped with a 5-inch display with HD resolution. The matrix is made according to and is of high quality. The pixel density is 300 dpi. The display is covered with 2.5D glass.
The viewing angles are wide. Detailing is at a high level. The color rendition is also good. When you deviate from the perpendicular, the brightness of the picture changes slightly.

note

White gives a bluish color. For this reason, eyes can get tired during prolonged use of the device.

The sensor reacts to 5 simultaneous touches. The maximum brightness threshold is sufficient to see all the elements of the desktop when using the phone on a sunny day. Reading text on a white background at night is uncomfortable - your eyes start to hurt.

The automatic brightness control mode does not work quite correctly. If you lower it to a minimum at night, the screen starts to flicker. Therefore, you should turn off this mode and adjust the brightness manually.

Software

Android 6.0 with proprietary shell MiFacorUI

ZTE Blade A610 runs on Android 6.0 operating system. Responsible for the interface is the proprietary shell from ZTE - MiFacor UI. Externally it is not very different from. The first thing that catches your eye is the lack of an application menu. The icons of all programs are located on the desktops. It is impossible to speak of this as a disadvantage, since such a solution has its own supporters.

Stayed intact all Google services. By default, they are placed in the folder of the same name on the main desktop.

Sound

The external speaker has a large volume reserve. Putting your ZTE Blade A610 in your bag, You will hear the call melody without any problems. But one cannot say about good audibility of the speech speaker, but it compensates for the low volume with high sound quality.

note

At maximum volume, the speaker does not cope with its function and begins to distort the voice of the interlocutor.

Phone Speakers

The sound quality in the headphones is pleasantly surprising. Despite belonging to the budget price segment, the smartphone perfectly reproduces music, although it does not reach the level of the market leaders in this parameter. But keep in mind that the ZTE Blade A610 is not positioned as a music device. The only drawback of the sound in the headphones is the lack of bass in rock compositions.

The smartphone has received one microphone and it works fine. There are no complaints from the interlocutors about the audibility quality.

Performance

ZTE Blade A610 received MT6735 processor, typical for cheap smartphones, with 4 cores operating at 1.3 GHz. The Mali-T720 video accelerator is responsible for graphics processing - also a typical solution for budget devices. 2GB of RAM is enough to quickly launch and minimize undemanding applications.

In the AnTuTu benchmark, such hardware demonstrates 30 thousand points. This figure corresponds to real performance. When the device is operating no heating is observed. But only if you do not require the ZTE Blade A610 to do what its technical characteristics are not enough a priori for.

Performance
Performance

In everyday work, there are no brakes, except for the operation of the menu of open applications. First, it doesn't always open immediately after being called. Secondly, when clearing memory, the smartphone pauses and freezes for a few seconds. Thirdly, after closing the window, you can see how the icons of the desktop applications are loaded.

There are no more performance problems. On the ZTE Blade A610, you can view video at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The picture is smooth and does not outpace the sound. No problem you can run simple games like Subway Surfers. Demanding applications are not worth dreaming about.

Camera

The smartphone received a main camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels with an aperture of f / 2.2 and autofocus. The application interface is standard. The manufacturing company does not declare any special capabilities of the module.

The phone is equipped with a 13 megapixel main camera

The selfie camera only works reasonably well in good lighting conditions. The frames are nice. Noise is noticeable under artificial light.

Battery

ZTE Blade A610 received a 4000 mAh battery, while the main competitors of the device are equipped with 1000-1500 mAh batteries less.

A full charge of the battery lasts for a day of intensive smartphone use. If the review hero is inactively exploited, then He can "live" more than two days. The battery is charged from 0 to 100% in 3 hours.

In HD video playback mode with the minimum brightness setting and with Wi-Fi on, a full battery lasts for 9 hours. That's more than the competition from the Honor camp, but less than the Meizu 3 Note.

Pros and cons

ZTE Blade A610 is a Chinese smartphone that positioned as a "long-liver" because of the installed battery. The device received a powerful battery that matches its capacity and provides a high level of battery life. In spite of this, the dimensions of the phone are relatively small, especially the thickness of the device. The phone has something to win buyers over to its side. Advantages of ZTE Blade A610:

  • Beautiful design.
  • Compactness.
  • 2 GB of RAM.
  • 16 GB user memory.
  • Good battery life.
  • High performance.
  • Price.
  • 2.5D glass.
  • Oleophobic coating.

Despite the large number of advantages, the smartphone has several disadvantages. The main ones are:

  • Lack of a separate slot for installing a microSD memory card.
  • Mediocre main camera.
  • Lack of illumination of touch control keys.
  • Braking when opening a window of running applications.

Today we reviewed a budget smartphone ZTE Blade A610 with a large battery, metal in the case and good characteristics.

The main characteristics of the device are presented in the form of a table.

Packaging and equipment of the device

The smartphone comes in a small white box. The front side does not carry any information other than the name of the device, depicted in gold. It looks pretty solid.

The reverse side does not provide the buyer with any technical information. Only QR code and company logo.

The tray, in which the smartphone is hinged, is behind it, the rest of the delivery kit is located.

Complete with a smartphone, the buyer will receive a rather modest list of accessories:

  • charger issuing 1500 mA;
  • cable for charging and PC connection;
  • OTG adapter;
  • warranty card and documentation;
  • a clip to remove the SIM tray.

All accessories are made in white, pleasant to the touch and work flawlessly. With the help of an OTG adapter, you can use your smartphone as a PowerBank.

Appearance and ergonomics of the device

The appearance of the ZTE Blade A610 is one of the strong points of the smartphone. It looks much more expensive than it really is. First of all, this is the merit of the glass, which is raised above the frame of the smartphone with a white plastic insert. This creates the feeling of the so-called 2.5D glass. There are also rounded edges, but they are barely noticeable. Also, when turned off, the bezels on the sides of the screen appear to be minimal.

You can add a really high-quality oleophobic display coating to the device's treasury. It is almost impossible to smudge the glass with your fingers. The display glass is protected, scratches are difficult to put on it. During the use of the device without covers and films, no scratches or scuffs appeared on it.

The frame of the smartphone is made of plastic, painted like metal. It is quite difficult to understand this, it is only the lack of pleasant coolness in the hands that betrays. But the back cover is metal, while the top and bottom inserts of the back cover are made of plastic with a nice fine texture.

Thanks to the rounded back panel and small thickness, the device fits very well in the hand and does not try to slip out. It is quite convenient to use the smartphone with one hand. The case is assembled quite efficiently and reliably, there are practically no creaks and backlashes, although the back metal cover sometimes makes small sounds when the device is squeezed from both sides.

On the front panel above the screen there is an earpiece, a little to the left of it is the front camera and proximity and lighting sensors. One would think that the Chinese have not added a notification indicator to a budget device, however, it is just well hidden. An indication appears next to the sensors directly on the white backing of the screen, in the event of a notification or when charging the device. It looks interesting. Its color cannot be changed, depending on the event, only red and green colors are available.

Below the display there are three touch points-keys, which are used according to the standard principle for going back, the home button and calling up the application menu. In the settings, you can change the assignment of the extreme keys. I have big questions about these branded buttons.

Firstly, they do not have backlighting, and secondly, the points are not informative enough and I quite often missed them. And most importantly, calling the menu of open applications turned into a real nightmare for me. The proprietary shell from ZTE involves calling the application menu by long pressing the corresponding button. While a short press brings up a menu of themes and wallpapers. For a week of use, I still did not get used to calling the application menu, the button did not want to work correctly and constantly gave me a pop-up menu of themes and effects. I sometimes managed to bring up the menu of open applications only from the fifth, or even the tenth time. I cannot say what the reason for my inconveniences lies, or this is a feature of my particular sample, or insufficient experience of communicating with Chinese devices with their proprietary shells.

Connectors and buttons on the case are standardly located: on the bottom there is a micro-USB connector and a microphone, on the top, exactly in the middle there is a 3.5 mm port for connecting headphones. The left side of the smartphone has a slot with a tray into which you can load either two nano SIM cards, or one SIM card and a mircoSD memory card. On the right side there is a power button and a volume rocker. They are located quite close to each other, therefore they require getting used to. The key travel is clear enough.

On the back side, on the central metal cover, there is the ZTE logo, on the bottom plastic insert there is a music speaker. On the upper insert in the left corner there is a peephole for the main camera, which is slightly recessed into a metal frame to protect it from mechanical damage. There is an LED flash next to the camera. The body of the device is non-separable.

Display

The manufacturer installed a five-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels in the smartphone. The quality of the matrix is not bad, the pixel density of 300 dpi is enough not to notice individual pixels. Both when working with texts and watching videos, there is no feeling that you are using a budget smartphone.

Detailing is at a good level, viewing angles are almost maximum. Color rendition is not twisted, images and photographs are obtained in real colors. When tilted to either side, no color change is observed, but only a slight change in the brightness of the image. The black color is deep, but the white gives a little blue, which makes the eyes get tired.

The screen accepts up to five touches at a time. The maximum brightness is sufficient, on a sunny day the information on the screen is readable, but the level of the minimum brightness seemed too high to me. In the dark, working with texts or websites on a white background is tiresome.

In addition, there are questions about automatic brightness control. When you remove it to a minimum and use your smartphone in the dark, while scrolling through pages or pressing the screen, the screen brightness flickers. This greatly strains the eyes, so in the dark it is better to turn off the auto brightness and adjust it manually.

Device performance

The smartphone was equipped with a quad-core processor MediaTek MT6735, well-known in the budget segment. ARM Cortex-A53 cores operate at frequencies up to 1.3 GHz. Graphics core Mali-T720, which operates at 600 MHz. The system operates on a 28-nanometer process technology. RAM is 2 gigabytes, the lack of it was not felt in the process of using the gadget.

Synthetic tests show this is the standard device in its class. In AnTuTu Benchmark, the device gave a little over 32 thousand points. There was practically no heating under load of the smartphone.

For the rest, animation as an operating system, as in third-party applications, works quite smartly. There were no problems with watching videos in 1080p, surfing the web, or working with social networks. It is pleasant to use the device even after the flagship devices.

However, you should not expect that you can play on your smartphone without restrictions. Simple games like Subway Surfers and Traffic Racer, the arcade racing machine, can be handled very well. But he can't count on modern heavy games. In general, this is a rather nimble device that does not bother with thoughtfulness at all in everyday use.

Software

The smartphone runs on Google Android 6.0 with proprietary MiFacor UI. It does not change the stock system much, the main thing is the absence of an application menu: all downloaded programs are distributed among the tables. Also, icons and some smartphone settings have been redesigned.

The appearance of the icons, as for me, is not serious and looks like something in Chinese. In addition, there are a number of pre-installed third-party applications, which, however, can be uninstalled without getting root rights.

All in all, this is a normal Android OS without any surprises. The shell does not overload the smartphone, all actions are performed quickly under any load. No application crashes were observed.

Sound and multimedia

The sound from the music speaker is quite loud. Putting your smartphone in your bag, you will definitely not miss an important call. The earpiece is not very loud, but it is of high quality. No wheezing or extraneous sounds were noticed, however, having turned the volume down during a conversation to the full, it is already difficult for him to cope with speech, distortions begin.

The sound in the headphones surprised me. For its price range, the device plays music very well. Of course, it is far from flagship smartphones, but you can listen to music on the way to school or work with pleasure. When listening to dance compositions or rock, the lack of bass and clarity becomes noticeable.

The microphone in the device is one on the bottom edge. During conversations, the interlocutors did not express dissatisfaction with the audibility. The vibrating alert is of average strength, but the system is configured so that all notifications and keystrokes are given an unusually long vibration. This takes some getting used to.

The gallery opens smoothly, there are no delays when flipping through photos. Video playback up to FullHD takes place without any problems. The quality of speech and images is at a high level. Youtube works flawlessly, all functions and settings in the application are available.

Communication and wireless interfaces

The device has two slots for nano SIM cards. There is only one radio module in the smartphone, therefore, when talking on one of the SIM-cards, the second will be out of range. Switching between cards is very convenient, in advance in the menu you should configure the functions that will be assigned to one or another card, whether it be voice calls, SMS messages or mobile Internet.

The smartphone can work in all available mobile networks, including LTE. No problems with loss of reception or low signal strength were identified.

Wireless interfaces are also standard, with both Wi-Fi and regular Bluetooth 4.0. There is a positioning system on maps, both GPS and GLONASS are used to determine. The device works great as a navigator, quickly catches satellites, updates traffic conditions.

Camera

The main camera in the ZTE Blade A610 is represented by a 13 megapixel module. The interface of the application is completely standard, the manufacturer does not declare any specifications and features about the camera.

In the daytime in bright light, the frames are quite bearable, autofocus works great. Macro photography works even without enabling special modes.

In dark rooms, the quality of pictures drops sharply, and at night it is better not even to reach for your smartphone. The frames are completely unsuccessful.

The built-in flash also does not save the situation, it is very dim and only more blurry the already bad image. Text files are virtually indistinguishable when photographing, even from a short distance.

The quality of the video frames is average. Video filming is useful only in case of emergency, when you need to capture a car number or some information.

The front camera works smoothly, the photos are nice. But only with sufficient lighting.

Memory and battery life

The manufacturer has placed a 16 gigabyte memory module in the device. Of these, about 12 GB is available to the user. It can be expanded with a microSD memory card up to 32 GB. However, in this case, you will have to be content with only one SIM card, since the tray is combined.

The second, after the design, an indisputable advantage of the device is the 4000 mAh rechargeable battery. And this is with such a compact size and small thickness of the smartphone. The device takes about three hours to charge with the supplied power adapter.

Based on the results of using the smartphone, the autonomy was very pleased. With daily use, the battery will last for two days. If you really load the smartphone, then by the evening there is still about 30-40% of the charge.

Outcomes

The ZTE Blade A610 is a pretty solid budget device. During testing, I got the feeling that this is a higher class model. The advantages of a smartphone include a really excellent design, good ergonomics, a high-quality screen with an oleophobic coating. In addition, even after the flagship devices, the speed of the interface and applications was enough for me. Well, the 4000 mAh battery is a very serious argument in a dispute with competitors.

The disadvantages include a very mediocre main camera. The second negative point is the lack of illumination of the touch keys under the screen and their incorrect operation (quite possibly, this is a feature of my test device).

The front camera is not suitable for video calls and pictures on whatsapp, it is very dark.

Another inexpensive smartphone came to our test - this time it is the ZTE Blade A610 model. Another "another smartphone", you ask? Yes and no.

The first long-playing smartphone I encountered was called the P700i and was manufactured by Lenovo. Almost four years ago, that device won me over, because with a 2500 mAh battery it lived for more than two days without recharging, which was an absolute space against the background of other Android devices that did not even live up to the middle of the working day. The problem was that in those years there was a clear division into smart devices and beautiful ones, and the iPhone, of course, but for a little different money. The smartphone did not have a design from the word “at all”, now engineering prototypes in which the same Qualcomm shows its solutions sometimes look more elegant.

But time goes on and today we will talk about a new long-playing smartphone - ZTE Blade A610. Another "another smartphone", you ask? Yes and no.

First, it is inexpensive. It’s always good. Life is getting more expensive, money is getting cheaper, it’s more and more difficult to make money and I don’t want to spend too much on a phone. And here - 12990 is a good price.

Secondly, it has a large 4000mAh battery, which should give us the ability to charge it every two days.

And it was also produced by ZTE, one of the largest vendors in the world, that is, I am not holding in my hands some dubious device assembled on a night shift without proper quality control and with savings on everything possible.

That's all you need to know to know that a smartphone is good. And the store would not have been able to extract half of this information from the seller. But we're not in the store. So let's try to take a closer look.

ZTE Blade A610 looks very, very decent. No, before us is undoubtedly another "iPhone-like" device, but made very sensibly and from decent materials. The smartphone has a metal frame and a relatively compact size, its thickness is 8.6 mm, which is quite a bit with such a capacious battery.

5-inch IPS-screen with a resolution of only 1280 by 720 pixels, i.e. just HD. But for such a small diagonal, this is not critical, and if we are talking about the image quality, it is at a high level. At the same time, such a display allows you to significantly save battery power, since the larger the screen and the higher its resolution, the more energy it consumes.

The smartphone is inexpensive, so it was difficult to expect top-end solutions in it. It is important to understand here that this is not about saving, but about the fact that even for little money you can make a decent product. It's all about absolutely little things - maintaining a balance between requests and the desired final price.

Absolutely rationally, the manufacturer used the inexpensive MediaTek MT 6735 platform and the Mali T720M2 graphics, all this is supplemented with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of memory for storing data, there is also a slot for a memory card, which removes the problem of lack of space for photos and applications. The device is running Android 6.0. Smart enough interface that does not slow down at all

As for the camera, it is average - 13 and 5 megapixel modules are used for the main and front cameras. The camera interface is not overloaded and easy to use. The quality of the images obtained is decent, although, of course, such solutions are hardly worth using in difficult conditions, for example, in the dark. But waiting for the capabilities of a device for 60 thousand from a device for 13 would be completely strange.

If you look at the USB port on the ZTE Blade A610 case, it is quite ordinary. This is not the now fashionable UCB Type C, to which you have to find a charger or a corresponding cable, but good old USB. What makes it remarkable is that the smartphone can work in On The Go mode, this is what the OTG beeps indicate in the specifications.

Why do we need these three letters? Quite simply, they imply the presence of a host controller, it is such a controller that allows us to connect various external devices to a PC or laptop: smartphones, mice, keyboards, external drives and much more.

Do I need to connect a mouse or keyboard to my smartphone? Not sure. But is it possible to connect an external drive? Why not. Especially if you want to watch a movie or listen to music, but don't be eager to transfer content to your device, taking up extra space. Or vice versa, if there is a need to download photos or files from mail to a USB flash drive. The main thing is not to forget the special adapter, fortunately it is included in the kit.
