The new flagship of nokia. Nokia flagship mystery

Nokia today presented its flagship - model Nokia 8. And everything seems to be as it should be: a high-resolution display, a flagship processor, the design is pleasant and unbroken. But all the same, no impressions. There is no zest, but the price is normal. Let's figure out what's what.

What is the current Nokia and its flagship

First of all, you need to understand how to relate to Nokia smartphones. From that very brand, only one name remained. The Chinese office HMD is engaged in the development and production of devices. I would put the current Nokia on a par with Meizu, Xiaomi, OnePlus - that is, it is Chinese, but decent. Its destiny is not super-tech smartphones of the type, but the so-called budget flagships. Nokia 8 is just that.

The flagship of the first echelon is not just top-end characteristics, but also features and perception. When you buy the same S8, you pay for the "infinite" screen and only then for everything else. One year later , however, a telephone for fifty thousand rubles starts to work like a piece ... In short, it works very badly, but this is a completely different story, which our editor-in-chief. Yes, and not for everyone the current story.

And the Nokia 8 is just a bunch of top specs. And that's not a bad thing - just take it for granted. Of the features it only has a design, but it does not cause a wow-effect either. Nice, original, but not parsik. There is also no full-fledged moisture protection - only splash protection according to the IP54 standard.

What can you get hold of

Perhaps the camera will become the killer-feature of the device. It uses a dual camera, which combines two 13-megapixel modules. One of them is black and white, the other is color. The front is also a 13-megapixel camera. And they are all under the Zeiss brand.

The smartphone has an "awesome" feature associated with the camera. On YouTube and Facebook, you can broadcast from the main and front cameras at the same time. The screen is divided into two parts: on one - what is happening around, on the other - you. Somewhere I saw it ... Oh yes, in ours!

Another feature is called Nokia OZO Audio - it writes surround sound when shooting video.

Why do I think you can expect something from the camera? Yes, simply because Nokia has not yet had flagships, and we do not know whether it can make great cameras or not. It is unlikely that it will compete with Samsung and Apple, but it is quite possible to gore the same Xiaomi.

The rest is like everyone else

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is cool: a powerful chipset with a headroom. If Nokia doesn't screw up the software, then the phone will be safe to use for two years. 4 GB of RAM will also be enough for the near future.

The device has a 5.3-inch screen - small by today's standards, but the navigation buttons are placed on the selections and do not eat up space. By the way, there is also a fingerprint scanner - it's good that they didn't put it back. The display resolution is Quad HD (2560 x 1440). Its maximum brightness is 700 nits, so it shouldn't be a problem under the sun.

Out of the box, the smartphone will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the developers promise a quick update to the eighth version. The battery capacity is again the usual 3,090 mAh.

There will be four colors to choose from: copper, steel and two blue (glossy and matte). The device would be the very thing to compete with, only it was initially cheaper, and now it can be bought at all for 30-32 thousand. Well, maybe someone will follow the title.

HMD Global officially presented the first flagship under the Nokia brand, Nokia 8, as part of a large presentation in London (UK). Most of the leaks revealed the expected novelty by many long before this event, but some aces in the sleeve of the Chinese-Finnish Nokia were still hidden.
Nokia 8 received a 5.3-inch display with an IPS matrix and a Quad HD resolution (2560x1440 pixels). The brightness level, as the manufacturer notes, is dazzling - up to 700 nits at the maximum level. The front of the smartphone is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 with 2.5D rounding. The body of Nokia 8 is made of 6000 series aluminum alloy, the frame is made of metal. The case is 7.9mm thick at its thickest point. There is also basic protection against external damage according to the IP54 standard.

Zeiss engineers helped Nokia develop lenses for both the main and front cameras of the Nokia 8. The rear camera has two 13-megapixel modules (color and monochrome) with a pixel size of 1.12 microns and aperture ratio of f / 2.0. The color sensor supports optical image stabilization (OIS), while laser autofocus and dual LED flash help you get the best shot in low light conditions. The front camera is a single sensor with similar specifications: 13MP resolution (1.12μm pixel size), f / 2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus. Directly from the standard camera application on the Nokia 8, you can stream live to Facebook and YouTube, as well as capture images from two modules (main and front) simultaneously using the Dual-Sight function.

The second feature of Nokia 8 is binaural audio recording in 360 degrees (3D format). Exclusively designed for smartphones, OZO Audio records sound in high quality 4K video. The OZO team, a division of Nokia, was involved in the design of the special microphone arrangement.

Another very interesting feature of the long-awaited flagship is the application as a standard gallery. For this, HMD Global has partnered with Google. Like the Pixel flagships, the Nokia 8 offers unlimited storage for photos and videos. The built-in memory is 64 GB. There is support for MicroSD cards (up to 256 GB).

As for the technical specifications, all the leaks regarding the Nokia 8 have been justified:

The new flagship Nokia 8 runs a stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The update to has already been announced, so the smartphone will receive it shortly after the official release of the new OS version. The start of sales of Nokia 8 in Russia is scheduled for September 1 this year. The official price is 39,990 rubles. Pre-orders for the new product open from tomorrow, August 17th.

Nokia is one of the most famous brands that is trying to regain its lost ground. More recently, the manufacturer has again got the opportunity to release smartphones under a personal name. Thus, Nokia should not only release smartphones based on the Windows Mobile operating system and can work with Android. The most important thing is to make the right choice of a device and understand what you need to count on.

Lumia 950 XL

Lumia 950 XL is one of the most worthy flagships of recent times. It's safe to say that this phone promises to be one of the best on the market today. It is supposed to be able not only to evaluate the advantages of Windows 10 Mobile, but also to understand how perfect the technical parameters are:

  • 8-core 64-bit 2 GHz processor;
  • screen diagonal - 5.7 inches with a resolution of 2,560 by 1440 pixels. AMOLED technology guarantees high quality;
  • RAM - 3 gigabytes;
  • internal memory - 32 gigabytes. However, about 25 gigabytes remain available for user needs, since the rest of the space is required by the operating system;
  • cameras - 20 megapixels (main), 5 megapixels (front). Moreover, the main camera is offered with autofocus, flash and 4K video capability. The front camera is only available for shooting Full HD video;
  • the ability to use memory cards up to two hundred gigabytes, thanks to which it is possible to save all the necessary personal data;
  • battery - removable 3340 mAh.

Having carefully reviewed the main characteristics, you can understand how responsibly Nokia is about the release of smartphones on the Windows Mobile operating system, with which it has been associated lately.

One important difference is the lack of a combined SIM / microSD slot. The manufacturer has provided a separate slot for memory cards with SDXC standard up to two hundred gigabytes. This feature immediately attracts positive feedback and confirms the high level of functionality.

The rechargeable battery guarantees optimal duration of operation on a single charge:

  • standby mode - 12 days;
  • music playback - 75 hours;
  • 3G - 19 hours.

Moreover, half an hour on charging guarantees a 50% capacity recovery. Subsequently, the charging speed decreases, so it will still take almost two hours for a full cycle.

Many users are satisfied with the new Lumia 950 XL.

Nokia DIC

The Nokia DIC is already starting to get a lot of attention. There is no official announcement, but the new product is currently undergoing important performance tests. The official announcement with the subsequent sale has not yet been approved in terms of time, but it is hoped that the manufacturer will soon offer a flagship. In addition, the technical parameters are perfect:

  • among the most important differences is support for the seventh version of the Android operating system;
  • the smartphone will run on an 8-core 64-bit processor with a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. The processor is offered by Qualcomm under the name Snapdragon 430;
  • 3 gigabytes of RAM, like a processor, contribute to functionality and performance;
  • the number of megapixels in the cameras used: 13 megapixels - main, 8 megapixels - front. High quality images are assumed;
  • 32 gigabytes of internal storage is an average value suitable for users.

The long-awaited new Nokia DIC should leave the best impressions about itself.

Lumia 1050

The Lumia 1050 is a unique Windows-based flagship. Choosing such an offer, you can count on a high level of functionality.

The main highlight of the device, which will be appreciated even by photographers, promises to be a 50-megapixel camera. Moreover, the camera sensor must be based on the innovative PureView technology. The variable focal length and the presence of a variable aperture lens immediately improve the quality of the captured images.

The lens will acquire an optical stabilizer, a camera - laser illumination and an automatic focusing system.

However, the lack of a front-facing camera does not become a stressful aspect, because Lumia 1050 users have successfully got used to using Nokia's flagship - Microsoft.

The flagship Lumia 1050, first of all, attracts with a unique camera, because other manufacturers have not yet managed to implement such technologies and shake the imagination of their fans by the fact that the smartphone is becoming a full-fledged camera.

Carefully studying the numerous news about Nokia, it can be noted that the high quality of technology is stable. At the same time, one must hope that the brand will regain its lost positions under its own name, releasing Android smartphones.

Video: flagship Nokia 2017, smartphone

What will happen if the revival of a brand with history is taken sensibly and with soul? There will be a new, this time Finnish-Chinese Nokia, safely warmed up under the wing of HMD Global. To unite people, and at the same time to skillfully play on nostalgia, Nokia of a new style began in 2017. The results are impressive: the Finns have sold millions of smartphones, catching up with the firmly standing OnePlus and. Let's see if the renaissance remains as successful and what to expect from transnational gadgets in 2019.

Nokia connoisseurs in 2019 are waiting for more than eight updated lines of new models. New smartphones have not one, but two numbers in their names, the latest generation has received the Plus prefix.

Compared to last year's versions, in some lines, instead of one, there were as many as three models, for example, Nokia 3 expanded to Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 3.1 Plus. The cost of smartphones has decreased, but there is no significant difference in price between the models in the lines.

Nokia 1

According to the manufacturers themselves, “some things are timeless”, referring to the neat Nokia 1 smartphone with a removable back cover. The rubberized cover acts as a full-fledged bumper, protecting the phone if it falls. In addition, the manufacturer gives you the opportunity to choose the color you want.

Despite the outdated camera and small screen diagonal by the standards of 2019, the phone is powered by a 1.1 GHz MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor. Optionally, the user can purchase a model with one or two SIM slots, add 8 GB of built-in microSD memory up to 128 GB.

The neat and ergonomic design makes the model recognizable, allows the phone to lie easily and be fixed in the palm of your hand.

Of the advantages, users point out:

  • small size (which is now a rarity for the modern smartphone market);
  • the latest firmware;
  • lack of useless and adware applications in the shell;
  • sensitive radio module;
  • removable (replaceable) battery;
  • round-the-clock technical support from the manufacturer.

The main disadvantages of Nokia 1 are fast battery drain with active use of applications and weak camera.

Nokia 1 specifications:

  • processor: 4-core MediaTek MT6737M, 1100 MHz

The Nokia 2 has Gorilla Glass, while the Nokia 2.1 has a standard display. In terms of processor performance, the Nokia 2.1 wins with the Snapdragon 425 processor. The screen sizes of the Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 2 are 5.5 and 5 inches, respectively.

Both models work uninterruptedly for 48 hours with active use. Whether traveling, playing online games or streaming videos on YouTube all day long - Nokia's battery of two is enough for any activity. Users note the high-quality color rendition of the screen of both models and a good equalizer, as well as a long battery life. Of the shortcomings, only 1 GB of RAM can be noted, but for this price category this is the standard volume.

Nokia 3, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 3.1 Plus

The Nokia 3 line has expanded to 3 models - 3, 3.1 and 3.1 Plus. From the 3 to the 3.1 Plus, there are strong changes in the design of the case: the latest model has the thinnest bezel. The first two models have displays equipped with Gorilla Glass. The diagonal of the displays changed towards widescreen resolution - from 5 to 5.2 and 6 inches. The processors have also changed: from MediaTek MT6737 1.3 GHz to MediaTek MT6750 1.5 GHz and MediaTek Helio P22 2 GHz - and this is a jump from a modest 4 to a much more weighty 8 cores. The newer 3.1 Plus outperforms the previous two "triplets" both in characteristics and in battery capacity - it is here at 3500 mAh.

All three smartphones in the series have a diamond-coated aluminum body that protects the frame from deformation and scratches. The line is also equipped with an NFC contactless payment module. Among the advantages, users noted the high build quality, typical for all lines of the company, ergonomic design, wide resolution and "juicy" image.

The trio of smartphones was also released under the number 5. There was a gap of almost a year between the release of 5 and 5.1, while between the 5.1 and 5.1 Plus there were only a few months.

The diagonal of the displays changed from 5.2 and 5.5 to 5.86 inches. Only the first two models are equipped with Gorilla Glass, 5.1 Plus will have to use additional protection. Also, when developing the display in 5.1 Plus, curved glass technology was used, which gave the model a more presentable look. Processors have also evolved: from Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 1.4 GHz to MediaTek Helio P18 and MediaTek Helio P60 with the same frequency of 2 GHz. The fingerprint sensor has moved from the front to the back (in 5.1 and 5.1 Plus). The difference in battery capacity is insignificant - from 3000 to 3060 mAh. More sensors (magnetometer, compass) were built into the 5 and 5.1 Plus.

Despite the leap in software and operational efficiency, this line lacks the NFC function provided in the older version 3. Also, there is no possibility of expanding the internal memory using microSD.

Nokia 6, Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus

Monolithic aluminum body, shock-resistant screen with Gorilla Glass, strict lines, high-resolution display, 5.5-inch diagonal, 4 GB of RAM, 16 and 8 MP rear and front cameras - this is where the similarities between the models in one line end.

The Nokia 6 is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 430 processor, and the Nokia 6.1 is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 630. The first and second models have a slot for a memory card adjacent to the SIM. Also 6.1 comes not only in black, but also in silver. The fingerprint sensor in 6-ke is located in the front at the bottom of the screen, and in 6.1 - behind the camera. NFC is supported in the 6.1 model, as is the fast charging function - 50% charge in just half an hour. With regards to read-only memory, both models come with a built-in capacity of 32 GB, but the 6.1 model with 64 GB can be purchased.

Users speak positively about this series, noting a widescreen display with a high-quality picture and an oleophobic coating, a capacious battery, high build quality and reliability of the case, an instant response of the fingerprint sensor and the presence of contactless payment support in the later model.

As for the new Nokia 6.1 Plus smartphone, here (at the time of this writing in January 2019) there are characteristics, but few reviews: it is not presented in Russia, although those who wish can purchase it in we will not say which Asian country. The shortcomings noted by them could be attributed to the lack of a global offer of the model - we just have to wait. Features and current affordable prices of Nokia 6.1 Plus - below.

Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 7 Plus

The penultimate and one of the newest lines combines the current trends of the smartphone market: a bezel-less screen, Gorilla Glass, a rear fingerprint sensor, fast charging.

The 7 Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 (4x 2.2GHz and 4x 1.8GHz), while the 7.1 is powered by the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 (8x 1.8GHz). Differences are also felt in the internal memory: if in the 7 Plus it was 64 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of RAM, then in 7.1 there is only 32 GB of internal memory and 3 of RAM. The differences also touched upon the front cameras: in the 7 Plus, the front camera has a resolution of 14.4 megapixels, and in 7.1 - only 8. The battery capacity of 3800 mAh in the 7 Plus has decreased to 3060 mAh in 7.1. However, in the later model, the wishes of users regarding the screen diagonal were taken into account - from 6 inches it decreased to 5.86, due to which it became more convenient to hold the smartphone in the palm of your hand. The frame has also changed - Nokia 7.1 belongs to the class of frameless. According to customer reviews, the line turned out to be successful - smartphones are equipped with good quality cameras, NFC system and stylish design.

  • weight 160 g, WxHxT 71.18 × 149.7 × 7.99 mm

Nokia 8 and Nokia 8.1

The latest series from Nokia has pleased users with high performance, high-quality camera, moisture protection, pure-display, face unlock, fast charging, NFC, 64 GB of internal and 4 GB of RAM, a metal frame and large batteries. Alas, despite the essentially upper stage of the "evolution" of Nokia smartphones, it is difficult to call both flagship models - rather strong middle peasants. However, the prices for them also do not bite so much.

The earlier eighth model runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (4 cores at 2.5 GHz and another 4 at 1.8 GHz), and 8.1 - on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 (2.2 GHz on two cores and 1.7 on the six remaining energy efficient ones). In model 8, the battery capacity is 3090 mAh, while in 8.1 - 3500 mAh. In the later 8.1, the bezel disappeared, the diagonal changed from 5.3 inches to 6.18.

Users note the high speed of smartphones in the line due to powerful processors, high-quality speaker sound, rich wide-format camera shots, a reliable body and perfect build quality. Comparing the characteristics, we can note the progress in the power of all systems of the smartphone.

Outcomes

The pace of HDM Global instills confidence that if smartphones with the Nokia nameplate do not regain their former glory of the quality standard, they will certainly not get lost in the market. The entry-level and mid-budget models already have their own look, quality materials and a loyal fanbase that will help them withstand the onslaught of Chinese phones and their A-class brethren. With flagships, the story is a little sadder, but the G8 without a top-end chipset, most likely, will not become the brand's "main" smartphone this year, so we are waiting for the mysterious Nokia 9.

officially presented on February 25, 2018 at the MWC in Spain. Among the wide variety of new products, this smartphone is the flagship of the line and shows how much the company keeps its finger on the pulse in the development of mobile technologies. A distinctive feature of the smartphone is a gorgeous POLED display, a metal body and a dual camera with Zeiss optics.

Nokia 8 Sirocco review

Many of us know the unrivaled quality and reliability of Nokia phones. The company has always kept up with the times and fashion trends for electronic gadgets, devoting a lot of time to software development. It is worth recalling that all of the company's products had well-designed and optimized components. What has Nokia prepared for its fans this 2018? The remake of the new and the budget one has already impressed many, let's start the review of Nokia 8 Sirocco - the company's premium smartphone.

Nokia 8 Sirocco is the company's new flagship smartphone, ready to compete with the mature brands of the modern electronic goods market. What are its key features and how can it attract a buyer?

First glance

The premium class is felt in every millimeter of the novelty. 3D glass occupies the lion's share of the front panel, more 81% ... The corners of the display are rounded and create a beautiful transition from glass to metal.

The frame of the Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphone is made of stainless steel and finished with aluminum. The rear panel houses the dual camera lenses, flash and fingerprint scanner. The build is pretty solid and tight. Taking the phone in hand, one feels the heaviness, coldness and prestige of the model. A huge plus to this is the moisture and dust protection of the IP67 standard.

Performance

The hardware of the Nokia 8 smartphone is not the mega-modern that smartphone manufacturers boast of (for example, it has a top-end processor), but it is quite new and productive. Nokia created a novelty based on a system chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and graphics chip Andreo 540... The developers did a good optimization of the parameters and expanded the RAM up to 6 GB.

The smartphone is controlled by the Android 8 Oreo platform, a fairly "clean" version of the OS. Nokia 8 Sirocco is in the Android One program, which means that all updates will arrive promptly. Lovers of the Google interface will love it.

Sirocco was provided with a sufficiently capacious battery for 3260 mAh, which, coupled with excellent characteristics, will allow you to enjoy work or entertainment for a very long time with your brand new smartphone. In addition to this, fast and wireless Qi charging is available.

Screen

The display matrix is based on POLED technology, has stunning color reproduction, display quality and viewing angles. The 5th generation 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protects against external factors. Physical screen size 5,5” with permission FHD... The company did not follow current trends and did not equip the device with a display with an aspect ratio of 18: 9.

The display has enlarged bezels at the top and bottom. At the top are the front camera and sensors. But this nuance is not reflected at all in the appearance, the display looks like a single whole.

Camera

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is equipped with a dual camera with Zeiss optics. One lens is quite standard, with a resolution of 12 MP, but has an excellent aperture of F1.7, a second telephoto lens with a resolution of 13 MP, F2.6 aperture and an angle of 47 degrees. This combination allows for luxurious photo quality and excellent bokeh when shooting portraits. With the video shooting on the phone, everything is also in order. Videos with 4K resolution are available to you.

Good news awaits fans of manual camera settings. Manual settings are available in the application, with which you will be able to make adjustments to the white balance, ISO value, and you can also play with the shutter speed.
