3. Clear all data except memory card and OTG.
4. Go back to your home screen and install the firmware.
5. After installing the firmware, perform a cleaning and reboot the device.

After changing the firmware via TWRP, some assemblies lack root rights. To grant rights, do the following:

Installing TWRP and getting Root

1. Install the program if there are no drivers on the computer.
2. Download and then extract the TWRP archive.
3. Put your phone in and connect to your PC.
4. Run the attached file "RUN ME to flash recovery".

Installation

There are no problems with installation. The firmware is being installed. True, there is a nuance associated with the installation of the Google application package, which is described below.

Of course, a full backup is required. When installing for the first time, it is recommended to do a full wipe, including clearing the internal memory. I'm not good at the technical part, but judging by the reviews, users who cleared the internal memory before installing are less likely to encounter various glitches.

Now about the Google Application Package (GAPPS). By default, CM13 comes without built-in Google apps, but you can download and install them yourself. There are two main points to be aware of.

First. The minimum possible GAPPS package must be installed. This is due to the fact that CyanogenMOD 13 does not use a standard Google camera, but a side camera. For this reason, if you take the extended GAPPS package containing the Google camera, these cameras will conflict with each other during installation. Personally, I installed, although there is an even smaller one. Subsequently, the Google camera can be installed from the Play Market.

UPD: We can say that the first recommendation is no longer as relevant as it used to be. There will be no conflict, just the corresponding CM13 services will be replaced by Google services. However, the forums still advise you to install the minimum package, tk. nevertheless, there are cases of incorrect operation of the device if a non-minimal package was installed.

Second . GAPPS must be installed immediately after installing the firmware, at this reboot and / or clear cache / dalvik after installation firmware is not allowed! That is, we installed the firmware, went back, installed GAPPS, then cleared the cache / dalvik and then rebooted.

What is missing?

The first and main thing that you will lose by installing CM13 is support for functions related to the stylus. By itself, of course, the stylus works, and in the menu you can even find a special item where you can enable support for gestures. However, in fact, the gestures don't work. Also, I was unable to enable support for pressure levels, so I can't draw beautifully in a graphical editor either. Multi-window mode is also not supported.

Needless to say, there are no Samsung “proprietary applications” here either, nor is there a link to a Samsung account. So if you actively use, for example, S-planner or S-memo - this is a serious reason to think about the expediency of the transition. However, I have not tested it, but it is possible that these applications can be installed separately. There is no Aircommand either, however, on the form it is advised to look for applications that implement similar functionality.

Instead of a conclusion.

Switching from Samsung firmware to CyanogenMod 13 gives me quite conflicting feelings. On the one hand, you lose all the Samsung-branded features that make the Galaxy Note 2 unique at once. Yes, I'm talking about the Wacom stylus. This is probably the most important feature that I miss, although I can't say that I used it often. I hope that since the stylus gestures are still not working, then perhaps full support for the stylus is just a matter of time. If someone uses CM12.1 - tell us how things are with the stylus there?

On the other hand, you get an up-to-date version of Android, which not only offers a much more convenient way to control your smartphone, but also works significantly faster. A pleasant bonus is the ability to “smart unlock” using bluetooth devices.
