Plastic windows do not close? Instruction and video. Plastic windows do not close - practical advice

A properly functioning plastic window is necessary to seal the room. With normal adjustment, the fittings press the sashes against the frame, and they are controlled by the handle. But it happens that the window does not close. It is important to determine the cause of this phenomenon, and then fix the problem. More about this in the article.

Sash tilt

Due to skew, a gap may appear between the sash and the frame, into which air from the street will enter. This defect does not allow the sash to fall into place. It will cling to the side and lower ledge of the frame.

If the plastic window does not close, it is necessary to change the angle of the sash, move it in a vertical or horizontal plane. To do this, there are adjusting screws located on the hinges of the sash. From them it is necessary to remove the protective pads, under which there will be holes for a hexagon or an asterisk key. During the rotation of the screws, it is necessary to obtain a normal closing of the sash and the elimination of the gap. The lower loop is adjusted in 2 planes, and the upper loop can be without adjustment or shifted to the right and left.

Poor fit to the frame

The window does not close when the seal loses elasticity, and also due to a failure to adjust the pressure eccentrics:

  1. Seals must be periodically washed and treated with silicone grease. If this is not done, they lose their elasticity after 5-6 years. Then they crack and let air into the room. If this happens, then you should buy and replace the seals. To do this, remove the old products, clean the grooves, and then install a new gasket.
  2. The eccentrics, which are located at the ends of the open doors, can be fixed in 2 positions: "Summer" and "Winter". In the first case, the clamp is not very tight, and this may not be very convenient in winter. To set the eccentrics to the desired position, you need to turn them by 90 ° using pliers, an asterisk or a hexagon wrench (the choice of tool depends on the type of fittings). This allows you to get a tight clamp. When the cold is over, you need to put the eccentrics in their original position.

Faulty window in tilt position

If the window handle does not close after ventilation, a possible reason is the exit from the grooves of the fittings, which are called "scissors". This element is used to open the sash in ventilation mode. The handle will be locked. With the simultaneous tilting and opening of the window, there is a risk of breaking the lower hinge, since the weight only affects it. You should not throw the sash in this form, it must be covered. If the handle does not turn well, do not apply much force, otherwise it may lead to more damage.

How to fix this defect if the window does not close? Work is performed according to the following instructions:

  1. The sash must be removed from the frame. To do this, remove the trim from the upper hinge, pull the hinge pin down with a knife or screwdriver. Then it is pulled out by hand or with pliers.
  2. Then you need to remove the sash from the bottom hinge. To do this, you should slightly lift it up.
  3. The sash must be placed on the floor with the bottom.
  4. You should find the grooves that the "scissors" can enter and install them. To do this, press on the end of the sash on the handle rotation lock.
  5. Then it is important to check how the pen works. It should turn easily.
  6. The sash should be put in place.

In some cases, the flown "scissors" are installed without removing the sash, if there is a place at the top. If the handle does not turn and the plastic window does not close, it is necessary to troubleshoot carefully so as not to aggravate the situation.

Simultaneous opening of the sash for plowing and ventilation

The window does not close often because the handle is set to the “Open” position, and it is moved up during the ventilation mode. It turns out that the sash will recline and swing open. The handle is locked. This does not mean that the window has broken. It's just that the sash is in a position where it can't be closed.

The problem is fixed in the following way:

  1. The handle is in a vertical position. It is necessary to press the sash to the frame in the upper corner. It will be installed in its place.
  2. Then press the lock on the sash.
  3. Move the handle to the open position.
  4. At the end, the sash must be closed.

Malfunction in the "Closed" mode

If the window handle does not close completely in closed or open form, then this may be due to an untimely actuated sash lock. It is necessary to press it with your hand, and then put the handle in the usual position. This will allow the window to close normally.

It also happens when the blocker misses the stop with which it should engage. This is due to the thermal expansion of materials. You should unscrew the stop from the frame, and then put a gasket under it. Then everything is screwed into place. If there is a displacement of the sash, it is necessary to carry out the displacement of the stop in a vertical position.

Handle not working

If the handle does not turn, the window does not close, then the reason for this is usually the drying of the lubricant on the fittings. If the design works for several years, then this problem will be natural. In this case, it is necessary to lubricate the fittings using special holes located on the top and sides of the sash.

Any lubricant or oil is suitable. But it is advisable to use a silicone agent. After that, it is necessary to twist the handle so that the lubricant is evenly distributed. Usually helps if the reason was this.

Repairs can complicate the situation, during which the doors become clogged with dust and debris. In this case, lubrication will not be the solution. It is necessary to completely disassemble and wash the fittings. For this, it is better to call the masters. It is important to check if the handle functions with the sash open. If in this case the plastic window does not close well, then the reason is related to the breakdown of the fittings. You will need to call a specialist. If the window is functioning, then it is necessary to check whether the eccentric of the sash end rests against the clamping part on the frame. Usually this serves as a hindrance to closing. It is necessary to move the platform or sash up or down.

Handle breakage

If the window does not close completely, then the breakage of the handle may also be the cause. Or it could just be loose. You need to tighten the handlebars. To do this, the decorative cap located at the base is rotated 90 degrees. There are 2 screws that need to be tightened with a screwdriver. Then the plug is installed in its place.

If the handle breaks, unscrew the retaining screws, and then remove the old handle from its place. Installing a new part is easy. It must be placed in the hole, and then tightened with screws. You will also have to change the fittings if you want to install a handle with a lock.

Prevention

To avoid any problems with the window, you need to follow simple recommendations:

  1. Quality glass installation is essential. This means that both corners must be at the same level. If there is a misalignment, then due to the high pressure, the frame will bend, causing breakdowns and looping.
  2. During installation, the product must not be subjected to mechanical damage.
  3. It is desirable to install the window on mineral glass wool.
  4. It must be remembered that the width of the window sill should be such that it does not block the passage of heat from the battery.

Proper operation

It is also necessary to adhere to the rules for using windows. A few simple tips will help with this:

  1. Do not apply too much force during closing as this may damage the handle.
  2. It is forbidden to hang any weights on the handle.
  3. During opening, do not press hard on the slopes.
  4. When there is a strong wind outside, the window should be closed.
  5. Damage must not be allowed.
  6. There should be no unnecessary objects between the frame and the sash.
  7. The sash must not be open.
  8. Humidity control is important - no more than 50%.
  9. Every day, the sash must be opened for ventilation.

Care

No less important is the care of plastic windows. It is as follows:

  1. In double-glazed windows there are channels for removing excess moisture. They are located at the bottom of the frame. It is important to monitor the status of these channels. They should be regularly cleaned of dust and dirt.
  2. Cleaning of accessories should be carried out only with special means that will not be harmful to anti-corrosion coatings. Do not choose alcohol solutions, dish liquids, nail polish removers or gasoline.
  3. To increase the shelf life of the product will allow the lubrication of fittings (2 times a year). In addition to silicone oil, you can use machine oil.
  4. It is important to control the quality of fixing the fittings to the frame, as this determines the smooth functioning of the window and its serviceability. To do this, it is necessary to check the strength of the screws in the plastic. If they are weakened, they are tightened.

Thus, the plastic window may not close for various reasons. Many problems can be fixed on your own. If it is difficult to deal with this problem, then you need to call a specialist.

We will send the material to you by e-mail

Often a situation arises that the installed plastic window stops closing. What to do in this case? It turns out that there is no need to call the master and pay for his services. It is quite possible to make all the adjustments with your own hands. Today we will try to figure out what to do if the plastic window does not close, and we will also analyze other possible problems and methods for eliminating them. It also makes sense to know how to maintain, prevent and adjust locking mechanisms.

Plastic windows have long and firmly entered our lives.

There can be quite a lot of small problems. And most often all of them are quite simply solved by the usual adjustment. Less commonly, windows require replacement. The main faults are:

  • Skewed sash and its loose fit to the frame;
  • Jamming of the handle in various positions;
  • Opening the sash for ventilation and opening at the same time;
  • Loose handle;
  • Water drain blocking.
Good to know! These problems can be avoided if timely preventive maintenance is carried out. It is also very important how qualified workers will install windows. It is worth reading the reviews about a particular company in more detail.

We will deal with the listed malfunctions and methods for adjusting and repairing plastic windows.

Repair of plastic windows when the sash is skewed

A common cause is improper installation and initial adjustment. To fix, you need a hexagon (usually No. 4). Here you need to understand that the upper hinge of the sash is responsible for adjusting the window left and right, relative to the frame, and the lower one - up and down. If the sash is warped, then this must be urgently corrected. Otherwise, damage to the glass unit itself, which is not cheap, is possible.

It is also possible to adjust by placing special spacers between the frame and the double-glazed window - for this you will have to remove the glazing beads. Work is carried out with the sash open, with periodic checks - the sash is smoothly covered, while it is immediately clear whether the repair has been completed or not.

Loose fit of the sash to the frame is the most common cause

This can happen if plastic windows are not switched to winter mode after a warm period. This is easy to do. Having opened the window, you should carefully consider the locking mechanism - there should be a corresponding mark on it. Usually, to change the mode, it is necessary to turn the central valve with a hexagon. After that, you need to close the window by pressing a sheet of paper with it. If everything is done correctly, the paper will not be pulled out.

How to open a plastic window if the handle is stuck

In the occurrence of such a problem, the blocker is most often to blame. This is a device that locks the locking mechanism in certain positions. With prolonged use of windows, it may not work in the right position. Most often this happens when the handle is turned to the “closed” state while the window is open. To eliminate it, it is necessary to bring the sash to a vertical position, after which the handle must turn. If this does not happen, most likely, you will have to change the locking mechanism.

It may also happen that the handle is wedged when it is not fully turned. The cause of such a nuisance can be both clogging of the mechanism and drying of the lubricant. In the second case, everything is solved quite simply - there is now a wide range of various sprays in stores. The best option would be to use silicone grease. If the mechanism is clogged, then it must be disassembled and cleaned.

Important! When disassembling the locking mechanism, you need to remember the sequence of installation of parts. If there is little hope for memory and attentiveness, it is better to seek help from specialists.

If the mechanism is jammed and the plastic window does not open (what to do), the video instruction will help you figure it out.

The sash opened for airing and plowing at the same time

The reason for this may not be a malfunction, but a banal carelessness when opening. The problem is easily fixed. The handle turns up, while the sash must be pressed firmly against the frame by hand. When she got into place, lower the handle down to the stop. Such actions should not cause difficulties.

All modern plastic windows are equipped with blockers that prevent such situations, however, excessive haste when opening may prevent it from working. Do not try to open the sash when the handle is not in the right position - this will save you a lot of problems.

Do-it-yourself repair of plastic windows when the handle is loosened

This problem is easily solved on your own. To do this, turn the handle base plate clockwise. Under it there will be two screws that need to be tightened. If they are torn off, you will have to replace the handle completely, choosing the right one in the store.

In general, setting up plastic windows with your own hands is not difficult. It is only necessary to fully understand the design of the locking mechanism. The very device of plastic windows for different models differs slightly.

What to do if the handle does not turn

In this case, you will have to disassemble the locking mechanism. The reason may be the ingress of debris and foreign objects between the parts. If necessary, defective parts are replaced with new ones. It is better to entrust such work to specialists. Otherwise, there is a high risk that the mechanism will have to be blamed completely.

Blocking the drainage bar - what does it threaten

Such a malfunction does not require any about special knowledge and skills to correct it. What to do if the plastic window does not close by this reason? The answer is very simple: you need to open the sash and just fix it so that it does not interfere.

Prevention of malfunctions of plastic windows

To extend the life of the plastic window, periodic maintenance should be carried out. Be sure to lubricate all parts of the locking mechanisms. In the same way, the adjustment of the flaps plays a rather important role: it allows you to increase the durability of the rubber bands that ensure tight closing, and reduces the risk of having to and repair of accessories of plastic windows.

Before the production of periodic pro lacquers should study the technical documentation of plastic products and their locking mechanisms as carefully as possible so as not to aggravate malfunctions instead of preventing them.

The nuances of repairing or replacing fittings

Most often, parts of window fittings that have become unusable cannot be repaired and require replacement. At the same time, it is very important to pay attention to the weight of the window sash itself - this will be decisive when purchasing hinges or a locking mechanism. The fittings may be ideal in size, but if it is designed for less weight, there will be no sense in such a replacement.

The design of the window is also important - it depends on it which parts are suitable for it and which are not.

Important information! If the replacement of the swing-out mechanism for a plastic window is not urgent and you can get by with the adjustment, do not rush to purchase. The later the repair is made, the longer the spare parts will last. It should be understood that native parts very often turn out to be much better than those purchased separately.

Lubrication of parts of the locking mechanism and hinged hinges

The most convenient to exhaust the lubrication of the locking and tilt-and-turn mechanisms of plastic windows with special lubricants azkami-sprays, the range of which on the shelves of stores is quite wide. Such sprays perfectly penetrate between moving, rubbing parts. It is recommended to carry out these works at least two or three times a year.

But at least once a year it is necessary not only to lubricate, but also to clean the mechanisms of the old substance. It is on it that all the dirt and dust collects, which eventually renders the parts unusable. But before performing such work, it is necessary to study in detail the device, which is quite complex and, if subsequent installation is incorrect, will simply stop working.

When operating plastic windows, do not underestimate the importance of preventive maintenance. After all, if their age is not small, there is no guarantee that if any part fails, it will be possible to find a similar one. Otherwise, you have to change the entire mechanism and not the fact that this will succeed. Or the whole window goes under replacement, which can make a decent hole in the family budget. That is why you should carefully listen to the sounds that accompany the opening and closing of the sash. When a metal rattle appears, it is urgent to lubricate and clean the parts.

Adjustment is also required periodically. Do not forget about switching seasonal modes - this will significantly extend the life of plastic windows.

High-quality ventilation is also very important - it does not allow condensation to accumulate on the windows. In winter, it can turn into ice on the profile, which has a detrimental effect on it. The same advice can be attributed to the fact that heating radiators should be located under the window to remove excess moisture.

What to do if you can't fix the problem yourself

Not all faults can be dealt with on your own. Very often, a plastic window does not open due to a jammed handle and the problem cannot be solved with one's own hands. In this case, the help of a specialist is needed. But if the windows in the apartment were installed recently, then a company that respects itself and the client should have guarantee. Then look for a specialist on the side is not worth it.

Well, if the warranty service has already ended, you can look for masters on the Internet. But it is worth remembering that you need to study customer reviews about a particular company as carefully as possible. After all, you don’t want to pay a lot of money for outright hack-work. Indeed, in this case, it can turn out the same way as one of the Internet users.

Summarizing

Surely it became clear to everyone that it is better to carry out periodic maintenance on their own than to face serious problems that require the help of a specialist. After all, if you follow all the instructions specified in the technical documentation, adjustment and lubrication will not cause any special difficulties. But the fact that these actions significantly extend the life of windows is an indisputable fact.

Imagine the situation: you have a program that is so unstable that it constantly freezes. Sometimes such programs do not even allow the computer to restart, it has to be shut down abnormally by pressing and holding the power button for a long time.

First of all, you should try to close the program through the standard task manager. Press Alt+Ctrl+Del, in the "Applications" tab, find the hung program and click "End" the task.

If this does not help, go to the "Processes" tab, find the hung process and click "End Process". In most cases, the hung program will then close.

Where the standard task manager fails, a more advanced program, Process Explorer, will help. It is released by a third party but distributed by Microsoft, available for free, does not require installation, and runs on Windows XP, 7 and 8.

Go to the Microsoft website, download the Process Explorer archive, extract it and run the procexp.exe file with administrator rights. You will see a list of all running programs. The processes they perform are shown in tree form. It is likely that the closing of the problematic program by the task manager was prevented by the fact that access to the hung process blocked the process of a higher hierarchy. The first column shows how much CPU time each process is consuming. For a hung, this value will be close to one hundred percent. You can detect a frozen application by sorting the processes by the amount of CPU load or RAM consumption.

To kill a hung process, right-click on it and select the Kill Process option, or press the Del button.

If the program is still hanging, you will need to kill the process tree: select it and select the Kill Process Tree option, or press the Shift+Del key combination.

Confirm your decision by pressing the OK button. The problem is solved, now the hung program is closed, you can start it again or continue working without it.

Hello everyone, dear users! Currently, the most common operating system is Windows. And a huge number of different programs have been written for it. The trouble is that the vast majority of software from independent developers is not tested very carefully, so problems with software freezing, and the computer itself as a whole, are not rare.

What can I say - even software from professional developers and major brands, at times, also presents the same unpleasant surprises. What to do in such cases and how to close the program if it does not close? There are several proven methods, among which you will certainly be able to find the best one for your individual case.

How to close the program if it does not close - proven and working methods

So, let's list the most common, proven and working ways to close a frozen program on the Windows operating system. Some of them are quite easy and do not require special knowledge. Others assume PC proficiency at least at an intermediate level. Some methods make it possible to continue working in the operating system without rebooting, with a repeated attempt to launch the frozen program. Others leave no choice but to restart the computer:

1. The first method is the most common, but relevant only in cases where you have free time. This way is a simple wait. After the program has hung, it is enough to wait from 5-10 seconds to 5-10 minutes. Most often, a hung application either closes on its own, or continues its work in the usual normal mode. Games, PC maintenance software, work programs - all this most often requires serious resources, and if the computer cannot cope instantly with the increased load, such freezes can be observed. You can wait a bit and the software will continue its work;

2. The second way is also quite common. If you can’t close a hung program with a cross at the top of its window, you can select its window by left-clicking on its upper border and briefly holding down the ALT + F5 key combination on the keyboard (sometimes ALT + F4 is also advised, but this method does not work far Always). With a 70% probability, the program will stop working and the operating system processes will again function as before. After that, you can try to run the desired program again, waiting a couple of minutes before trying (so that its process in the system finally dies);

3. The third way is quite simple. You can hover the mouse over the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, find the display of the working program there, hover over this display with the mouse pointer, press the right button and select the “Close application / program” item in the drop-down menu. Often this method works and the software is forced to quit;

4. The fourth way is more complicated, but anyone can handle it. If the program freezes and the previous tips did not give anything, then you need to close it through the "Task Manager" - it is in any Windows operating system and can be launched in various ways. For example, by right-clicking on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and selecting the appropriate menu item, or by pressing the key combination CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. I spoke in more detail about the dispatcher in.

So, in the "Task Manager" you will see a list of all running applications. Your hung program will also be in it. Right-click on it and select "End Process" from the menu that appears. In 85% of cases, this helps and the program immediately closes. If this did not help, then in the same "Task Manager" select our hung program, right-click on it and click on the "Go to Process" item. You will see several processes that the hung program launched. You can turn them off one by one, achieving a complete stop of the application and its final closure;

5. The fifth method is even more difficult, but everyone can do it. It is useful in case there is no program in the "Task Manager" list. This also happens, so do not be surprised - this is normal. In the "Dispatcher" go from the "Programs" tab to the "Processes" tab and among the list that appears, look for the hung application by its name. It also shows the load of the computer's processor by current processes and other data - it is easy to determine from them what is generally hung up on you and what slows down the computer. Closing the process occurs exactly as described in the paragraph above - right-click on the process, select the option in the menu to complete it - that's it;

6. The sixth method will require the installation of additional software. There are many third-party programs from independent developers that control and monitor the processes on the computer, allowing them to be controlled a little. We will not list them here, since there are really a lot of them, starting with Total Commander and ending with various little-known applications.

Perhaps you can stop at the wonderful CCleaner program, which allows you to manage the startup of applications, their removal and cleaning the registry from left entries. It is not uncommon for a frozen application to be a virus or just a crookedly assembled program. It is sometimes possible to complete its process only by removing and cleaning the computer from all the tails that this software could leave in it.

How to close a program if it won't close - a radical method

The most radical method for closing a program that does not close is to remove it with a full restart of the computer. Quite often, users unknowingly or accidentally install some kind of application on their computer, which entails the installation of a whole package of obscure programs (for example, Chinese ones that are registered at startup and are very difficult to remove, especially if you don’t know what it is). For example Baidu. I wrote about it in detail in this article:

The CCleaner program allows you not only to remove unnecessary applications, but also to clean entries in the registry of the operating system from them. Also, with its help, you can remove programs from startup, which is very useful in situations where the computer turns on, incomprehensible applications are automatically launched immediately, which cannot be closed by conventional means.

How to use CCleaner? You can learn from this article:

Closing programs, if they do not close themselves, can also be done by a radical method, especially if it is left-handed software (although if it is possible to reinstall the desired program, then this can also be done). First, we try to remove the process through the "Task Manager" and if it is not there or it is not removed for some reason, we launch CCleaner, find the problematic one in the list of installed programs and delete it. Most likely, a notification will pop up that the program is running and cannot be deleted.

We ignore it and continue the uninstallation process. After that, we go to the "Registry" tab and clean it, removing all references to the problematic program from it. Through this software, you can also find the path where the program is installed and manually delete the folder with its files.

This guarantees you that after restarting the computer, problematic software will not be launched and will not freeze along with the entire system. After doing these operations, do not forget to remove all tails from the problematic program by running the registry cleaner again. How do you like today's article? Quite often, happy owners of plastic windows complain about them.

A properly installed and glazed window usually does not need to be adjusted, although sometimes adjustment and adjustment is still necessary.

Either it does not close, then the handle falls off, then it fogs up a lot, then you need to press on it when closing, etc. In fact, there are quite a few nuances in their operation. So what to do if the plastic window does not close or does not close well? The most important thing, of course, is not to panic. Well, repairing a plastic window to a person who does not have the slightest idea about their device is also not worth it. Since this can lead not only to the complete failure of the fittings, but also to its falling out of the opening both on the street and inside the apartment.

The most common reason for sashes not closing is their age. The older, the worse the situation. Most likely, the age of the window is more than eight years. At the time when it was installed, there was simply no proven high-quality fittings yet. And if some firms had it, then the specialists installing it did not have enough experience for its high-quality installation.

Only a specialist can determine the exact cause of the breakdown during the inspection. Let's look at the three most common causes of failure:

1) The first reason is the sagging of the sash

This is manifested by the fact that the sash begins to close poorly and constantly cling to the side or bottom of the window frame. To close the sash, it must be slightly raised. And every time it becomes more and more difficult to do it.

The reason for the sagging is the fact that the sashes have never been adjusted before.

The reason for the sagging is the fact that the sashes have never been adjusted before. The frames themselves are very heavy. Their weight plus their frequent opening and closing leads to the problem of sagging. But this defect is easy to eliminate. The most important thing is not to over tighten. You need to remove the decorative plastic overlay from the hinges and look at the end at the bottom and top. There is an adjustment element. As a rule, this hole is an asterisk, a hexagon or a hole for the most ordinary screwdriver. The tool you need to do this job depends on the type of hole. There are fittings where there are special adjusting elements on the hinges on top.

You need to carefully tighten all the elements. After that, try to open and close the sash. If everything is done correctly, then this should not cause you any effort. After checking, you need to put back the decorative lining.

2) The second reason is the case when the sash hangs on one hinge from below and does not close

On the sash there is such an element, which is called a blocker from erroneous opening. Its function is that it does not allow the window to open in the tilt position. Some windows do not have this element. Therefore, if it is not opened correctly, then a dangling sash appears on one hinge from below. Inside the room, its upper part collapses. With a strong gust of wind, it can tear the loop from below and fall inside or outside.

The reason for this failure is the lack of a blocking element on the double-glazed window. If it is not there, then the window, when you open and close it, must be held. You can try to correct this situation if, by turning the handle to the reclining position and pressing the sash with your shoulder, press it against the frame with force. In this position, you need to try to turn the handle again to the rotary position. If this technique does not help, you need to call a repair specialist. Since frequent attempts to repeat such a technique can lead to the fact that the fittings will fail entirely.

3) The third reason is that the handle is in a tilted position and does not turn

If there is a blocker in the fittings, but it often jams, then the handle will sooner or later stop moving to the swivel position from the folding one.

If there is a lock in the fittings, but it often jams, then the handle will sooner or later stop moving to the swivel position from the folding one. When you try to turn it, it will feel like the handle rested on something. Turning it with force is not worth it, as you will simply break all the fittings. The reason for this situation is that an element such as scissors, which are located at the top of the sash, simply flew out of their grooves. To correct this situation, first of all, it is necessary to remove the sash. To do this, a decorative overlay is removed from the hinges and pressed on the hinge pin from above. Using pliers or pliers, you will need to pull out the succumbing pin. After that, you will need to carefully remove the sash from the hinges and, placing it on the floor, try to turn the window handle to the folding position. If this does not work, then you will need to tighten the opening blocker by mistake. It looks like a spring bar next to the handle on the side of the sash.
