Talking about collecting mail in my articles, I remembered the nuances of collecting from the GMail mail service. The fact is that it is with this mail service that problems most often arise during the collection of mail. All because of its powerful security, which sometimes reaches the level of insanity :) I, of course, only FOR the high security of any services, but in the case of GMail it sometimes goes beyond all boundaries. For example, we are trying to collect mail from our Gmail inbox, but the process does not go, because Google blocks the connection attempt for no particular reason. Having faced a similar problem several times, I decided to write about the causes, possible variants of the problem and how to solve it.

The error that appears when connecting to the mail server is related to the network settings. The modem may work properly, but the network itself on the computer is not always connected correctly. Often, the Internet connection can be automatically interrupted for various reasons, most often of a technical nature. If no problems with the network are found, then the matter is in the installed antivirus program.


The mail server can be blocked by the settings of Avast or another firewall. It is quite simple to check whether this is so: you need to disable the antivirus protective screen. Then, try to log into the mail server again. Upon successful login, we can state that the problem was related to the antivirus. All that remains is to add the mail server to the list of firewall exceptions and then freely work with it.


Connection to the 1C-reporting mail server is carried out using the work: smtp 465, pop3 110 and http 80 ports. Two of them (smtp and pop3) are equipped with additional ports (25 and 995). Step-by-step mail server check

First of all, you need to make sure that the problem is on the server, and not anywhere else. To do this, try sending yourself some test emails to the same email address and to external email services such as Gmail. Error codes of mail servers and how to fix these errors:

Mail Server Error 421

  • the problem may occur due to incorrectly set SMTP connection parameters, double-check their settings

  • traffic on port 25 is blocked. Try changing the SMTP port number to 465 in your email account settings
  • the error was caused by using a VPN - try disabling the VPN and sending an email. If this was the problem, then it is necessary for the service provider to add your mail server to the VPN whitelist.

Mail server replied with 451

Possible reasons:

  • the number of allowed connections or the message exchange limit for a period of time has been exceeded, in which case the letters are simply waiting in the sending queue. In you can increase this limit or set a limit not on the number of connections to the server, but on the number of letters per user. If you haven't detected any malicious activity, you can send the accumulated queue of letters with a force send command.
  • incorrectly configured MX records of the domain and incorrect routing of letters as a result. Check logs, config files, MX records and permissions to determine the cause of the error

Mail server error 452

  • the error is probably not on your side - the recipient's server has run out of space, so the message is not delivered. Check if you can send emails to other servers
  • if the error message contains the text “Out of memory”, then there is not enough space on your server. Check the number of messages in the queue, free disk space and available memory

Mail server error 550

  • the recipient's email address is incorrect, check if it is valid and if you wrote it correctly
  • incorrect SMTP server settings
  • there is a suspicion that your system is infected with a virus that automatically sends emails. Check with a specialized antivirus, for example, for mail servers
  • the provider has set restrictions on outgoing messages. Contact the technical support of the provider and they will tell you what to do in this case

Mail server replied with 571

Error while receiving mail (on the recipient's side). Causes:

  • The sender's IP is blocked on the recipient's side by a spam filter, antivirus or firewall, the text of the error message will look like this: “The mail server replied: spam message rejected”. If you are sending a test email to yourself, try disabling this software and check sending / receiving emails without it.
  • sender IP does not have RDNS
  • the sender is included in the spam list, the recipient's message filters do not allow the message to pass

To resolve the error, check your settings for receiving emails and, in particular, permissions for sender domains.
