To download them on android, you need to go to PlayMarket, specify the name, download and install. For iOS, do the same in AppleStore.

Step-by-step instructions for connecting vr glasses to the phone

The glasses require a valid Bluetooth connection for the joystick or gamepad to operate in VR mode. It is present only in a full set of VR glasses. In budget versions, it is purchased separately.

It is necessary to perform a number of relatively simple manipulations:

  • turn on bluetooth;
  • turn on the game device;
  • make pairing.

In the program, you need to select the type of VR glasses. If necessary, connect headphones or an audio system of the glasses to the jack on the smartphone.

Preset vr app

Usually, special settings for vr glasses are not required for comfortable work. The most important thing to calibrate correctly is to set the position of the lenses so that you can use the device. The picture must be clear, not cause eye fatigue.

Remember that incorrect calibration can cause such unpleasant effects as nausea, weakness, dizziness, very rarely loss of orientation in space, problems with the vestibular apparatus.

High-quality immersion in virtual reality is possible only on normal devices. It is not clear what will work and it is not clear how. Often no additional adjustments or calibrations are required.

Mount your phone in vr glasses

Mounting the phone in vr glasses is also well thought out, except for very simple copies made of cardboard, which you can make yourself. In each model, the fasteners are made with minor variations and represent a compartment into which the smartphone is inserted. Mounts can be adjusted to fit your smartphone size. The device itself is tightly fixed to eliminate the possibility of its falling out.

Virtual reality is a three-dimensional environment artificially created using computer technology. Such a world does not exist materially. To interact with it, specially designed devices are used. They give signals that are perceived by the human senses. During the interaction of the devices for transferring into VR reality and the user, he stays in the virtual world.

Most often, the virtual space is perceived with the help of the organs of vision. Special glasses are used. Recent developments also target auditory receptors and produce tactile sensations. This will require headphones and gloves.

What opportunities does the virtual world provide:

  • Play computer games
  • Watch videos
  • Travel to beautiful and interesting places on Earth
  • Visit other planets of the solar system
  • Go out into outer space
  • And much more

All that remains is to start performing these actions and enjoy the possibilities of the virtual world. Virtual reality glasses are one of the new technologies that have a great future in the future.

VR helmet is in great demand among fans of computer games. Below is how to connect virtual reality glasses, how to operate them, how to check for errors in operation. The article also provides TOP 6 applications for VR devices.

Types of VR glasses

VR virtual reality glasses are divided into three groups. The criterion is the purpose of the devices. The following categories have been developed for 2018:

  • Virtual reality helmets for computer and consoles - Oculus Rift, Pimax 4K, Deepoon E2, etc.
  • Autonomous devices - Uranus VR One, Sulon Q, Magicsee M1, VR PRO, etc.
  • Device for phone - virtual reality glasses VR Shinecon, Baofeng, VR Space, Xiaomi Mi VR, Google Cardboard, Fit VR, VR BOX, Ritech, etc.

The presented models have common features - advantages and disadvantages. Let's consider this issue in more detail.

PC Helmets

Games with better graphics have been developed for devices. The immersion experience is not comparable to other categories. Among the disadvantages:

  • Price - about 65 thousand rubles
  • Demanding PC (or console) - high power
  • Dimensions - difficulty in transportation

Autonomous glasses

The "trick" of the category is independent functioning. It does not require powerful devices. The device can be used anywhere and anytime. If necessary, you can connect it to a PC. The cost ranges from 15 thousand rubles. The need for recharging is the only "minus" of the gadget.

Helmet for smartphone

The device only works with smartphones inside the case. Devices with the ability to connect to a PC, for example, have been developed. But game content is underdeveloped. Among the main features are:

  • Affordable price - from 100 to 3000 rubles
  • PC connectivity
  • Portability - easy transport

Virtual reality glasses VR Box - how the model works

How the VR device works

The device of the BP models is distinguished by the quality of the internal components. The design principle is one of two:

  • Case with one display, divided by a baffle in the middle
  • Housing with two separate shields without additional divisions

The VR headset is equipped with a gyroscope. It tracks user activity and allows you to look around in virtual reality. Some models have built-in magnetometer and accelerometer sensors.

When the application starts, the smartphone screen is automatically divided into two parts. The left one is designed for the left eye, the right one for the right eye. The stereoscopic lens effect does the job.

The device is designed taking into account the physiological characteristics of the body. The two sides of the screen or display are directed to show a separate image to the right and left eyes at a given angle. Thanks to this, the brain displays a single 3D image.

Why are VR glasses useful?

The VR helmet was developed relatively recently. It is designed for more enjoyment of playing, watching a movie or video. From immersion in the reality of another world, the usual form of leisure turns into a real attraction. On the other hand, it is not a cheap pleasure. A quality device will cost about $ 500.

Consider the following details when purchasing:

  • Price - spending a few hundred dollars is not worth the pleasure of a couple of hours
  • Cheap counterparts - for 2018, budget VR headset samples have been developed that are not inferior to expensive ones
  • Content - high quality paid video games

There are about 100 free games. Interest in them is lost after a couple of days, but the problem with the vestibular apparatus remains. Flying roller coasters or air spins cause nausea, weakness, vomiting, and dizziness. Paid games usually do not give this effect. Let's talk about how to use the helmet correctly at work.

How to connect and set up virtual reality glasses

The easiest way to get started is with standalone helmets - plug it in and enjoy. Disassemble PC devices according to the instructions. There you only need to connect the wires correctly. Of the categories considered, only the last one requires settings - glasses for a smartphone. When starting work, you need to carry out:

  • Connecting a device (required)
  • Bluetooth gamepad activation (for certain games)
  • Adjusting the picture (when there is a problem)

Let's dwell on this. Below is a detailed description of how to use virtual reality glasses for a smartphone.

How to connect VR glasses to a smartphone

Before turning on the game, you need to set up the VR device to work. This is done as follows:

  1. Download the must-have VR technology app on your phone (like AAA VR Cinema);
  2. Install the program and run it;

Note! At this point, the phone screen will split in two.

  1. Insert the smartphone into the body of the glasses (each sample has its own way - opening the lid, clips, etc.);
  2. If you have headphones, connect them to the phone;
  3. Put on your helmet.

In a connected VR headset, the gyroscope is responsible for control. The device reacts to head movements - right, left, up and down. There are games that require a gamepad connection.

How to connect a Bluetooth gamepad to VR glasses

Joysticks are rarely required if the application is designed for it. They differ in performance, focus, design, etc. Gamepads are connected via Bluetooth. A full-fledged VR package includes a joystick. Budget models do not have this component, it is purchased separately.

REPOST

Let me remind you that which I did recently, it supports any modern smartphone if its screen has a diagonal of 4 to 6 inches. You also need to have accelerometer and gyroscope sensors in your phone. The OS version also plays a significant role. If you don’t know or don’t remember the characteristics of your mobile phone, it doesn’t matter. Finding out if your phone is suitable for virtual reality helmets, be it Fibrum, or another helmet without a screen, is quite simple. Let's go through all the steps together.

If your phone is cool and expensive enough, if it was bought at the junction of 2016 and 2017 and later, I advise you to read about whether yours fits.
See if he is on this list: iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus... There is? Congratulations, your VR headset phone fits perfectly.
See the following list. If you have a phone in it, great, your smartphone will fit. If not, do not despair, it is not complete. Scroll through the article further.

  • Asus: Padfone S
  • Htc: Butterfly 2, Evo 3d, One, One (M8), One mini, One S, One X, One X +, Sensation, Sensation XE, Velocity 4G
  • Huawei: Ascend G 615, Ascend P1, Ascend P2, Ascend P6, Honor 6
  • Lg: G2, G3, Optimus 3D Max (P720), Optimus 4X HD (P880), Optimus G (E975), Optimus G Pro, P940 Prada 3
  • Nexus: Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6
  • Nokia: Lumia 1020, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 930
  • Oppo: N3
  • Oneplus: One
  • Samsung: Aktiv S, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 3 , Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6
  • Sony: Xperia S, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z, Xperia Z1
  • Wiko: Highway
  • ZTE: Nubia Z5S, Redbull V5 V9180
  • iOcean: X7
  • Yota Phone 2

So, the phone is not on the lists, which means that the easy way is not for us. Well, we are not afraid of difficulties. Let's determine if our phone can be inserted into a virtual reality helmet.
The second easiest step is to try to set up the phone to Google Cardboard profile... Use the program and follow the link. If the test is passed, the phone is suitable.

The third check option is a test one. We download some and see: has it started? Rotating the smartphone - does the "world" rotate on the screen and how responsive. This one will facilitate the choice of applications.

Well, if something went wrong, there is a desire to be 100% sure (if the test run did not give results) or a masochist reads it, then read on - let's go the hard way =)

Step 1 - Find out the phone model.

If you know your phone model, go to the next step. So, the simplest option is the inscription of the phone model on the case. But what if there is only a manufacturer's inscription (LG, Samsung, iPhone, etc.)?

LG phone unmarked

Don't be in a hurry to panic. We have at least two more options for determining the phone model.

The most universal way is to use a sticker on the phone case. Suitable for any model.

Just remove the back cover of the device.

The phone with the cover removed.

We take out the battery.

Phone without battery

And we take a closer look at the inscription on the sticker.

We are looking for something similar to the phone model on the sticker.

Putting the phone back together. Please note that after these manipulations, the clock and date on the phone will be reset. But it's okay, they set up pretty quickly.

Setting the Date and Time on an Android Smartphone

Hereinafter, all manipulations were carried out with a phone running the Android operating system. We turn on the device and go to the settings. To do this, you need to slide your finger from the top of the screen towards the bottom.

The look of my screen

In the window that appears, you must click on the "Settings" icon, which looks like a gear. By the way, you can launch the settings from the main menu of the phone (where you have all the applications). It's just that I'm already used to launching "Settings" in this way.

We call the settings of the phone running Android

In the menu that appears, look for the "Date and Time" item. Click on it.

The menu is large, but it's better not to climb anywhere

In the window that opens, I put and uncheck the boxes in the "Autotuning". In this way, the date and time are quickly adjusted. I uncheck the boxes because the clock got lost a couple of times. All these cancellations and introductions of winter time and other fun often bring problems to life. One day I almost overslept because of this. So my choice is to turn off auto-tuning. If, after the operations performed, the time has not been adjusted. Or it was not tuned correctly. Requires manual tuning or tweaking. To do this, click on the items "Date setting" and "Set. time "and manually make the necessary changes.

Sounds like a one-armed bandit, right? =)

Another way to determine the phone model is through the device menu (example for an Android phone).

We go into it (how to do this is described in detail above) and scroll to the very end. We are interested in the item "About the phone".

It contains various information about your device

In the menu that appears, select the item "Phone identification. And we look at the displayed information.

You don't even need to climb under the battery!

Step 2 - We have a phone model. What's next?

The site even offers hints when typing

The service will give you either a page with the results, if the name was not completely accurate, as in my case. Then you will need to additionally scroll through the page and find your phone from the photos.

Outdated model, yes =)

Or it will directly redirect to the page dedicated to your smartphone. On this page, we are, for a start, interested in the main characteristics of the phone. In particular, the inscription "screen 4.7". Your number will be different (well, or the same). You can also glance at the software version beforehand. I have Android 4.1. But this is only preliminary information about the version, the one that came with the phone at the factory, it can be very different from the real state of affairs. More precisely, we will check the software version below in the text.

My phone screen fits the requirements

Step 3 - Determine the presence of sensors

The easiest and most accurate way to determine which sensors are in the smartphone is through the application. Download and run it.

You will see something like this:

The design, of course, is terrible, but the program fulfills its task.

As you can see, my phone has an accelerometer, but no gyroscope. It's not cool, but not fatal. If there is at least an accelerometer sensor, they will work, but the control will not be as good as if there is also a gyroscope in the phone for a virtual reality helmet. It is quite possible to play various "slides" or "swings", but difficulties arise with shooters. It becomes difficult to "aim the sight" with your head; In addition, there is some inertia - overshoots and jerks of the "cursor". And some applications are enraged by the inscription at the bottom of the screen, about the lack of a gyroscope sensor. You cannot disable it. Additionally, I note that many games check sensors and may simply not run on a phone without a gyroscope.

Step 4 - Determine the software version.

In my article about, I mentioned the requirement for the version of the operating system under which your smartphone runs. Now let's determine which version is installed on our devices.
For a device running Android, you need to go to the menu (see how to do this in step 1). Get to the item "About phone" and select the item "Software Information"

The item "About phone" contains a variety of information about the device

The top line "Android version" will tell us the information we need.

As you can see, my phone went to the brink of requirements

If the software version does not meet the minimum, do not be discouraged. You don't need to run for a new phone. Honestly, this is the only virtual reality phone requirement that can be fixed. You just need to flash your phone. I will not tell you how to do this, the article comes out godlessly long. And for each phone its own procedure. Look on the internet. The only caveat is that everything is done at your own peril and risk. Phone flashing is not a process available to everyone. I have flashed, there have been phone "murders", fortunately with resurrections =) It is better to give them to a specialist, in any city there are a lot of them (repair services at least) - the cost of the firmware will not be sky-high.

Due to a lot of questions, I wrote a special application that will test your phone for use in virtual reality. Download and find out the result. And if something remains unclear, then additional explanations on the parameters remain in the article below.

Usually his brain turns off, and he immediately wants to buy himself the same. I myself was like that, because I know this feeling)

Few people think about and about. I want everything at once!

But wait, what if your phone doesn't fit?

How do I test my smartphone for VR compatibility?

Before running to aliexpress, or to the nearest store, let's make sure that everything is fine with our phone.

For phone parameters, see this. In short, for a good VR experience you need an FHD screen and a gyroscope. But it often happens that the phone seems to have all this, but after buying a helmet, nothing plows ... so let's test the phone in advance!

So, first install. This is the official Google app to showcase the capabilities of technology +.

If after installation you saw a wolf, then everything is ok. Nearly. Your screen should be split into two parts. At the same time, if you turn the phone around, then the picture should move in the same place. So, you have everything ok with the gyroscope. spin around with your phone 360 degrees - the wolf will go away, and you have to fully move in this reality.

Test the tilt of the phone - the picture should also tilt. If all this is there, then you are almost in luck.

Sometimes there are jambs with a carbboard, and not everyone will start it. Then let's try other applications.

Other test applications

If everything is ok in the cardboard (and if not ok - too), put, for example,. Here the screen will also be divided into two parts. Turn the screen so that its center looks at the lever on the right - the cart will move, and you can also turn your head to the sides. If it works, everything is ok.

In general, you can install at least, but in many of them, in order for the cart to move, you need a gyroscope.

How to test a helmet in a store

Most of these glasses are bought on Aliexpress and similar sites, but if you are impatient at all, you can go to M-video or DNS and test there. It is expensive, but it will give you an idea of all this. It will also be useful if your screen resolution is not too high - you can see what kind of picture you will get in the end with a helmet. Just don't try to buy it right away!

Put the same slides, or, for example, - also quite good slides, here you don't even need to run anything. They go by themselves. And then, in the store, ask to see the helmet, insert the phone there, and see how it all works.

By the way, it is easier to check the graininess. Go buy a magnifying glass for 10 rubles and look at your phone screen. If the pixels are not visible, then everything is ok. but if you can see them, then in a helmet they will be even more ... are you ready to observe the brickwork?

Deeper testing of your phone

For those who figured out with common applications and want to stream from a computer - read the notes about and about. Both can be tested without a helmet at all. Although, everything is very confused there)

Moreover, if you buy a helmet specifically for streaming from a PC, it is better to first set up everything without a helmet, otherwise you may well be disappointed later when something does not work, or does not work the way you want or expected.

Known Issues When Testing Smartphone for VR

If all of the above has worked for you, then you can rejoice - most likely your experience in VR will be positive. But what if something went wrong?

  • There is no picture in the cardboard... And also in other applications it is every other time. It happens. Alas, most likely, the matter is in the firmware of your phone or in the video processor. You will have to come to terms with the fact that not all applications will work for you as they should ...
  • The picture in the cardboard and other applications does not move... Sadness, misfortune, most likely, your phone does not have a gyroscope. What you can do without a gyroscope - read at the end of the article. The solution is just a change of phone.
  • Only tilts work in applications, but cannot be rotated... Alas, but again there is no gyroscope, and turns are realized due to the accelerometer that you have, but this does not help much ... that is, you cannot turn, just walk and look ahead.
  • Too much graininess in the same Homido... Your screen resolution is too low. Likewise - change the phone.

What to do if your phone doesn't have a gyroscope

This is the most common problem. Unfortunately, there is still no universal solution. The people are perverted, fastening all sorts of air mice and the like. They order different schemes. But - this is not very convenient, and I have not yet seen that someone could imitate the phone's native gyroscope by external forces. So the general solution is to change the phone.

But! You can still partly experience the VR world.

At a minimum, you will still have access to 3D videos, as well as those applications where a gyroscope is not required, but desirable. I brought them out to. Basically, these are all sorts of slides and arcades.

You can also watch regular movies in VR (if you have a carboard icon in it). You may also be able to stream games from your PC, but you won't be able to turn around in them - just play on the "big screen". But, as I said, it is better to test this beforehand ...
