Configuring Windows 10 for fast work. Disable indexing of disk files

Each of you, of course, noticed that as time passes, the computer starts loading applications longer, freezes more often and works slower. This is due to the fact that a lot of "garbage" accumulates in the Windows operating system over time, which slows down the work. Therefore, experts recommend reinstalling the OS at least once every six months. Those who do not like this method should learn how to optimize computer performance.

Why optimize your computer

The operation of the operating system is similar to the operation of a clockwork: it is synchronously moving gears. From time to time, you need to blow off dust from them and change worn out parts, that is, to correct the accumulated flaws in the work, otherwise freezes, slowdowns in the work of games and applications and other troubles will begin. At the moment, there is a whole range of measures to optimize the operation of the OS:

  • cleaning the registry;
  • deleting unnecessary files;
  • disabling unnecessary services;
  • defragmenting your hard drive and much more.

These measures help speed up processes and reduce the likelihood of operating system failures.

How to optimize your computer

First of all, you need to understand the main thing: too much optimization is bad. For example, you cannot overdo it with disabling services, otherwise the computer will simply stop working. For example, some of the standard background programs monitor the temperature conditions of individual parts of the computer and, if necessary, limit the load. It is clear that if such a service is disabled, the computer may overheat and fail. Also, too many cleaning programs can clog the system registry, resulting in poor performance.

Optimizing your computer is like spring cleaning. It does not need to be done every day, but about once a month.

Each of the optimization methods is designed to ultimately reduce the load on the processor, hard disk and RAM. Thus, we free up resources that can be used for other tasks.

Disabling unnecessary services

Disabling unnecessary services is a delicate process. Each service is to some extent necessary for the operation of a computer or its individual components. Therefore, before turning it off, you need to think carefully about the consequences that may arise from this.

There are two ways to disable services: through the system configuration or through the services interface.

Disconnection via system configuration is performed as follows:

The service status "Stopped" indicates that the service is not currently running. The unchecked checkbox in front of it guarantees that it will be impossible to access the service.

You can also disable the service through the services interface. This method differs from the previous one in that the interface provides a description of each service.

The list of services that can be disabled without worrying about the operation of the system:

  • "Fax";
  • NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service (for NVidia video cards if you are not using 3D stereo images);
  • "Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service";
  • "Working folders";
  • AllJoyn Router Service;
  • Application Identity;
  • BitLocker Drive Encryption Service;
  • "Bluetooth Support Service" (if you are not using Bluetooth);
  • Client License Service (ClipSVC, Windows 10 Store apps may not work properly after being disabled);
  • "Computer Browser";
  • Dmwappushservice;
  • Geographic Location Service;
  • Guest Shutdown Service (Hyper-V);
  • Heartbeat Service (Hyper-V);
  • Hyper-V Virtual Machine Session Service;
  • Hyper-V Time Synchronization Service;
  • "Data Exchange Service (Hyper-V)";
  • Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization Service;
  • "Service for monitoring sensors";
  • "Sensor Data Service";
  • "Sensor Service";
  • "Functionality for Connected Users and Telemetry" (this is one of the possibilities to disable "tracking" Windows 10 for a user);
  • Internet Access Sharing (ICS) (provided that you are not using Internet Sharing features, such as sharing Wi-Fi from a laptop);
  • "Xbox Live Networking Service";
  • Superfetch (assuming you are using an SSD);
  • Print Manager (if you are not using printing features, including the built-in printing to PDFs in Windows 10);
  • Windows Biometric Service;
  • "Remote registry";
  • Secondary Login (assuming you are not using it).

Updating Drivers

Device drivers are important software products that allow your computer to interact with its environment. It is very important to keep them up to date. If any of the driver files are damaged, they should be replaced. And if an update has come out that will improve the work, you need to install it.

By default, Windows Update should automatically search for new driver versions, but it will not be superfluous to run a check for the current version from time to time. To do this, do the following:

When all drivers are updated, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Defragment your hard drive

The system for writing files to a hard disk works in such a way that all files are written in a row. By deleting the file, we free up space for recording other information, which may be more or less than the previous one. It turns out that part of the file can be written in one place on the disk, and the rest - somewhere else. A fragmented (or “fragmented”) file slows down the OS because it takes time to find and merge all the fragments of the file. The process of defragmenting the hard disk overwrites all files in a strict order, connecting all their parts into a single whole, as a result of which the speed of the hard drive increases.

  1. Using Explorer or another file manager, open the "This computer" folder and call the context menu by right-clicking on one of the hard disk partitions. We select the item "Properties".

    Through the context menu we get to the properties of the disk partition

  2. Go to the "Service" tab and click the "Optimize" button.

    In the "Service" tab, click the "Optimize" button to start the defragmentation process

  3. In the defragmentation service window that opens, select the desired partition of the hard disk and click the "Optimize" button.

    Select the disk partition and click the "Optimize" button

  4. We are waiting for the completion of work with the disk partition, and then we repeat the same procedure with all the partitions into which the hard drive is divided. After that, we restart the computer so that the OS starts working on the defragmented media.

Programs for cleaning and optimizing device performance

Despite the assurances of Microsoft developers, standard Windows utilities are far from perfect. Most computer optimization products are provided by third parties. Such software usually has a rather narrow focus and is focused on obtaining a specific result, therefore it is worked out in more detail and better takes into account the interests of users.

Among such products, we note the following.

Glary utilites

Glary Utilites includes a set of utilities to optimize your PC. Its range of functions is simply enormous: from standard garbage removal and hard disk defragmentation operations to improving the performance of the Internet Explorer browser.

Advanced SystemCare

Advanced SystemCare is a program by Chinese developers to optimize PC performance. It is known for its high performance and modern interface. The key feature of this utility is the launch of the entire set of actions with one button. However, for advanced users, a more detailed interface is provided.

TweakNow PowerPack

TweakNow PowerPack is a small shareware program for optimizing and tweaking the operating system. Unfortunately, its interface only supports English, but this disadvantage is compensated by the convenience and speed of work. The program can clean the system registry, work with Internet browsers, and also remove file junk from the hard drive.

CCleaner

CCleaner is a small but powerful utility for cleaning your computer from cluttering information. The main areas of its work are the file system and registry cleaning. The program is notable for the fact that it is recommended by the Windows developers and is often included in the Tens releases. One of the main languages is Russian, so no one will have problems working with the application.

Auslogics BoostSpeed

Auslogics BoostSpeed is the luminary of the PC optimization market. This program is one of the leaders in Windows optimization. Starting with Auslogics 9, it has separate settings to improve the performance and appearance of the Tens. The BoostSpeed program has collected a full range of tools for harmless effects on the OS. And the “Advisor” function also provides detailed information on each optimization point.

Other optimization techniques

There are many ways to optimize the operating system: defragmentation, cleaning the registry, deleting temporary browser data, and so on. Accordingly, to perform these actions, many software tools have been developed, both standard and very original.

Disk cleanup

Most of the helper programs do an excellent job of cleaning up the disk, but they have a significant drawback: they work without giving administrator rights, that is, some cleaning processes are not available to them. Most of all, this concerns clearing the Windows update cache and removing the old version of the system. For example, if "Ten" was installed on top of another OS from Microsoft, then a Windows.old folder may appear on the local disk and cannot be deleted.

The built-in utility for cleaning the disk from garbage allows you to remove both unnecessary updates and the old OS.

Disable indexing of disk files

The idea of the indexing service is that when a user searches for files on a computer (mainly documents), Windows will return more detailed results for queries. Therefore, if you know where and what is on your computer, it is better to refuse indexing files: this will reduce the load on the hard disk and speed up its work.

After completing the optimization procedures, it is advisable to restart the computer immediately in order to feel the difference in the operation of the operating system.

Video: how to disable file indexing on a computer

Optimizing your operating system is easy. By clearing your computer of unnecessary information, you keep its speed at a high level, thereby increasing the convenience of working with it.

Introductory: originally the article was written about how to speed up your computer directly based on 10 -tags and tags about 7/8 added later, so some of the nuances and points within Windows 7/8, may be missing (this is normal) and should be skipped and / or executed through the appropriate tools for Win 7/8(for example, control panel).

All the good time of the day and all that stuff.

With the release of a new operating system, traditionally, I receive tons of messages of a very different nature. Most of them, of course, concern solving various kinds of problems, but they also write relatively many questions about tuning, optimization, etc.

Today I would like to tell you in one article about the basic setup and optimization of the necessary things that I always do first of all on a new system after installation (or already on a "filthy" operating system from the user). Of course, not everything will be told, but a lot, and this is what will allow you to understand how to speed up a computer based on Windows.

In general, I was going to write this material with the release 7 -ki, but somehow the hands did not reach the big article, and therefore there was a large cycle of small notes, each of which talked about some small aspect. Now it has been decided to correct this misunderstanding.

By the way, for several systems, in general, in terms of tuning and optimization, not much has changed, and therefore you can safely apply the following to Windows 7 and Windows 8, and use some principles on older systems as well.

Let's get started.

How to speed up computer on Windows 10 and 7/8 - interface

I will show and tell by the example of the interface and system Windows 10, but those who wish can easily apply all this to 7 -ke or 8 -ke, fortunately, everything is identical with rare exceptions and the problem can only be small differences in the interface and the absence of what needs to be optimized.

After setting it up, you can turn it off and delete it, but before that it (style) will allow us to get to the needed ones faster, bypassing a dozen or two extra clicks ( Microsoft pushing them further and further with each version).

Have you installed it? Then let's get started.

How to speed up your computer in the basic sense of customization

Let's go to " Start - Settings - PC Settings" :

There will be a bunch of tabs here, some of which we are really interested in:

Let's go through the basic ones and make a small adjustment + optimization. Let's start with the " System" :

Do you want to know and be able to do more yourself?

We offer you training in the following areas: computers, programs, administration, servers, networks, site building, SEO and more. Find out the details now!

Here, traditionally, there are sub-tabs. We do not need all, but only a few, so I will only mention those where, in terms of optimization, changes are required.

How to speed up your computer through system settings

After switching to small icons, we find the item " System - Additional system parameters"and poke at it with the mouse button.

In front of you there will be a window with the properties of the system, in fact, approximately as in the screenshot above. Here I will also tell you in a list, and I will give screenshots with a link next to it:

  • System Properties - Advanced - Performance - Visual Effects: checkboxes, which will allow you to maintain a more or less acceptable visual component and functionality, without unnecessary loss of performance;
  • System Properties - Advanced - Performance - Advanced - Virtual Memory: here, the nuances I wrote;
  • System Properties - System Protection: I'm about, because I use backup by other means and / or programs;
  • System Properties - Remote Access: if not needed, then.

Security and service settings

Let's dig into security and maintenance to figure out how to speed up your computer from this side. To do this, now go to " Start - Settings - Control Panel - Security and Maintenance"(small icons should still be enabled).

Here we are interested in:

  • Security and Maintenance - Change the settings for the Security and Maintenance component: I would recommend ;
  • Security and Maintenance - Changing User Account Control Settings: slider to disable persistent notifications ;
  • Security and Maintenance - Change Windows SmartScreen Settings: we switch.

Disk Tuning - Indexing

Now let's open the explorer (aka my computer), where we click on any of the disks (partitions) with the right mouse button and select " Properties"to understand how to speed up your computer by disabling indexing.

On the " Are common"must be unchecked" Allow indexing of the contents of files on this drive in addition to file properties"It is important to note that this will affect file explorer searches, but will improve performance.

If you, like me, do not use the built-in search or are looking only for the name of the files, then it is really worth unchecking the box.

This procedure will require applying to all subfolders and files, as well as administrator rights and a pass (by clicking the " Skip all") some files (see screenshots above). Do everything you need sequentially, ie" OK - Continue - Skip All" .

These procedures must be done for all disks and partitions that you have, that is, just right-click and disable indexing.

Configuring disks - background defragmentation

Go to any of the section properties on the " Service"where we press the button" Optimize"and in the window that appears, select the item" Change parameters" :

Where we uncheck " Run on schedule" :

This will take the load off the disks when you do not need it and defragment them yourself manually and when, in fact, it is necessary (in particular, also with normal software).

Then, in the window that appears, select " Common parameters"and go, in the next window, to the policy tab, where we put two checkmarks, namely" Allow write caching for this device" and " Disable flushing Windows write cache buffer for this device" .

Remember the second checkbox, as one of the important points on how to speed up your computer, but sometimes it can have back effect, and therefore it may be necessary to remove it (although this is rare, there is nothing to exclude).

Similar to indexing, do the same for all devices in the hardware list.

Just in case, do a reboot and, if you want, then take a backup just in case. Although, in general, we have not made and are not planning to make any settings that can damage the system.

We've probably finished with the control panel.

Memory, number of processors, etc., tweak msconfig

Now press " Start - Run" or " Win + R"on your keyboard. In the window that appears, enter msconfig and click" Enter" :

Get out of msconfig by clicking " Apply" and " OK". If you are prompted to restart, you can temporarily reject it (" Exit without reboot"), because you will have to reboot again a little later.

A little tweak tweaker AeroTweak

You probably remember how to speed up your computer using AeroTweak... If not, download it and then launch it.

Before using it, go through the tabs and remember which checkboxes are worth (this will be necessary if you configure something wrong and want to go back), or better take a screenshot of each tab.

After that, in fact, we optimize and configure internally as follows:

  • On the "Windows Explorer" tab: we expose everything, provided that you do not need thumbnails of application windows, as well as functions Aero;
  • On the Performance tab: I would recommend to put

A nice translucent Start can have an impact on system performance, especially if you have an inexpensive laptop with a budget processor. Disabling transparency will free up some of the resources that can be directed to higher priority tasks.

To do this, you need to go to "Start" → "Settings" → "Personalization" → "Colors" and there switch the "Transparency Effects" switch to the "Off" position.

Animation effects, smooth scrolling and various shadows further affect system performance. You can turn it off with just one click.

To do this, open the "Control Panel" (it can be found through the search) and then follow the points: "System and Security" → "System" → "Advanced system settings" → "Options" on the "Advanced" tab. Now in the section "Visual effects" should be checked "Provide best performance".

There you can simply uncheck the least important effects for you, leaving only the ones you need.

If you are not using Live Tiles in the Start menu, you can opt out of them entirely as they also consume resources. To clear the "Start", leaving only the list of programs, you need to unpin all the tiles one by one. To do this, you need to right-click on each one and select "Unpin from Start Screen".

Notifications from applications and other senders can load the system the first time you launch certain programs, and especially. To turn off all annoying Windows 10 notifications, go to Start → Settings → System → Notifications and Actions and there, move the top switch to Off.

Unloading system resources will also allow the refusal to advice, tips and tricks from Windows. You can disable such help in the same section of the parameters just below.

And removing garbage from memory must be done systematically. This is a must to maintain a high level of system performance, especially when there is not enough free space on the hard disk.

Cleaning can be performed by third-party programs such as, or using a standard utility. To start the latter, you can simply type in the Windows search "Disk Cleanup" and open the proposed option. Next, you just need to note what you can delete.

If, when you turn on the PC, the system boots for a long time and even after the desktop appears, it continues to think about something, you should check the list of programs in startup. It is likely that there will be something that can be removed, making the initial launch easier.

To do this, open the "Task Manager" by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del or Ctrl + Shift + Esc, then go to the "Startup" tab. To identify the heaviest components, you can sort the list by the Launch Impact column. All that remains is to select programs and disable them.

Windows 10 provides a standard tool for finding and fixing problems. With its help, it is quite possible to fix some pop-up errors that slow down the entire system.

You can get to such a debugger through "Options" → "Update and Security" → "Troubleshooting". In the window that opens, start checking from any section where you encountered any errors.

If you do not have a top-end computer with the most powerful hardware, it is worth lowering the level of your protection by prohibiting it from performing a systematic check of your PC's memory. You can also search for potential threats in manual mode when the computer is not performing other tasks.

A particularly high load on the system can be caused by two antiviruses installed on the PC for maximum reliability. Opt for one remedy and ditch the less useful.

Windows 10 by default monitors some user actions and sends reports to Microsoft. These background actions cannot but consume system resources, which is especially noticeable on weak computers.

Such tracking is disabled in the privacy section in the system parameters. There you need to turn off the first three functions in the "General" subsection, and also select the main amount of data to send and the frequency of generating reviews "Never" in the "Reviews and diagnostics" subsection.

In the case of laptops, the selected power plan can also affect system performance. When operating on mains, a circuit with high or at least balanced performance should always be selected. The Energy Saver option is intended for use with your laptop autonomously when it is important to use the battery power as efficiently as possible.

You can access power management through Control Panel → System and Security → Power Supply.

The ability to switch to a dark theme has been one of the most anticipated features in Windows. Indeed, with a lack of light, such a color scheme is less tiring for the eyes. Previously, it was possible to install a black interface background for the tenth version of the OS. But the developers listened to users and in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update they finally added a simple, official way.

Opening the section "Options" → "Personalization" → "Colors", you will see at the bottom of the item "Select the default application mode." If you activate dark mode here, the background of the Windows interface will partially switch to black. The same applies to some standard and third-party programs from the Windows store.

Separately, you can enable the dark theme in the Edge browser. To do this, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the program window, then click "Options" and under the item "Select a theme" select "Dark".

By the way, if you prefer Google Chrome, you can download the dark theme from the Google store and even install it.

Sitting at a computer in the dark, you could notice how quickly your eyes get tired. This is because at night the display becomes too bright for a room without sunlight.

Microsoft took care of this issue and added a special monitor color mode "" in the Windows 10 Creators Update. It can be configured in the section "Settings" → "System" → "Screen".

When this mode is active, the system changes the temperature of the colors so that they do not tire the eyes in a dark room.

As you use Windows, residual files and other debris accumulate in it, which clogs the hard disk and slows down the OS. There are many third-party utilities that can solve these problems. But until recently, there was no standard solution.

After updating to Windows 10, the Creators Update appears on the system, which clears the device's memory. You can activate and configure it in the "Settings" → "System" → "Storage" section under the item "Memory control".

Windows 10 has a set of standard applications that you can use to work with music, videos, web pages and other files without third-party software. For each file type, the system defaults to one of these preinstalled programs (or warns that it is not supported). This is why, for example, when you click on a downloaded music track, Windows immediately plays it in Groove.

But if you want to replace the standard player, browser and other programs with third parties, it is most convenient to do this in a special section of settings. Go to Settings → Applications → Default Applications and select here the programs you installed that Windows should use by default for various tasks.

The password assigned to the Windows account protects personal data and user settings. This function will be relevant for you if unauthorized persons have physical access to the computer. Of course, if you try hard, this protection can be bypassed. But in most situations in life, it will be quite enough.

You can put it, remove it or reset it, if you suddenly forget, in the section "Settings" → "Accounts" → "Login parameters".

By default, when you start File Explorer in Windows 10, a quick access window opens to frequently visited folders and last viewed files. Perhaps this option suits you entirely. But in previous versions of the OS, "Explorer" immediately opened the section "This computer", and there are users who are used to it.

If you are one of them, or if it is just more convenient for you to see local drives in Explorer right away, you can return the old view. To do this, open "Explorer", click "View" → "Options" and in the item "Open Explorer for" select "This computer".

Windows has long allowed you to hide files and folders, making them invisible. Thus, it is convenient to hide directories with important contents, so as not to accidentally delete anything you need. You can make an object visible or hidden through the context menu: just right-click on a folder or file, click "Properties" and check or uncheck the box next to the "Hidden" item.

In addition, for convenience, the system can display its extension at the end of the name of each file: .exe, .png, .docx, or a letter designation of any other format.

By default, Windows 10 does not show items that have been hidden by developers or the user, just like file extensions. But you may need to display them. For example, to get into a hidden folder or view the format of a photo.

To enable the display of hidden objects or file extensions, open "Explorer", click "View" and check the necessary items: "Hidden items" or "File name extensions".

Windows 10 displays notifications on the screen like a typical mobile OS. In order not to be distracted by anything unnecessary, you can configure them in the "Settings" → "System" → "Notifications and actions" section. Here you can choose what type of messages will be sent to the screen, and set the notification options separately for each application.

In this section, you can also choose the buttons for quick actions that will appear on the notification panel. They allow, for example, to instantly activate the night mode of the display, adjust its brightness or add notes to OneNote.

Errors in the system or third-party software, as well as incorrect user actions, may cause Windows to malfunction.

Fortunately, there is a mechanism that returns the OS to its normal state. This is a recovery service. It makes a copy of important system components every time you update Windows, a driver, or install a new program, and saves it to your hard drive. In most cases, you will be able to restore normal system operation from such backups (restore points).

To go to the service settings, enter "Recovery" in the Windows search, click on the result and click "System recovery settings" in the window that opens.

Once on the "System Protection" tab, select your system drive (usually drive C), then click on the "Configure" button and enable system protection. After that, specify the amount of disk space that will be allocated for storing backups. The more space, the more restore points you will have at your disposal. When it ends, the new points will replace the old ones. After all, click OK.

Now, if the need arises, you can return to the "System Protection" tab. To do this, there is a "Restore" button here.

But keep in mind that backups do not contain a complete Windows image, but only important system files.

10. Screen Calibration

Windows has a built-in display calibrator that you can use to improve color quality. The program will display simple step-by-step instructions. Having done everything as she tells you, you are in the optimal way. No special knowledge is required for this.

To start the calibrator, type the word "calibration" in the system search and click on the found item. Then follow the prompts of the system.

11. Action log settings

The Windows 10 April 2018 Update added the Activity Log feature to the system. With its help, you can at any time see what documents and web pages you have interacted with in the last days, and return to work on them. Moreover, the log can display actions not only from the current computer, but also from all other devices connected to your Microsoft account.

To customize your activity history, go to Start → Settings → Privacy → Activity Log. Check the box "Allow Windows to collect actions from this computer" if it was not enabled by default. Then select the checkbox "Let Windows sync my activities from this computer to the cloud" if you want information about the current computer to appear on other devices connected to it.

When done, click on the icon next to the Start icon on the taskbar. A timeline will appear where you can see previously opened documents.

12. System update options

Windows can get bored with offers to upgrade at the most inopportune moment. And sometimes it restarts the computer when you are not expecting it at all. To insure yourself against such cases, set up the so-called "Active period". This is the time of day during which you usually work at the computer. Windows will not update during the specified hours.

To configure the "Active Hour", go to "Start" → "Settings" → "Windows Update" and click "Change Active Hour". Specify the work schedule at the computer and save the changes.

The performance of any operating system will degrade over time, and your Windows 10 computer or laptop will start to slow down. Sometimes there is not enough time for full maintenance, and money for it.

Here are 10 tips to speed up your PC.

P. S. All tips were tested on a test virtual machine Version 1607 (Build 14393.105).

1. Tinted interface

A transparent start menu looks nice, but (slightly) slows down your computer's performance. Turn off transparency to steer resources in the right direction.

Start - Settings - Personalization - Colors - Make Start Menu, Control Panel, and Action Center Transparent Off

2. Disable special effects

Visual beauty is best left for games.

Right click on "Start" - Control Panel - System and Security - System - Advanced system settings - Options - Visual Effects tab

To turn off unnecessary animation and special effects, select Provide best performance. You can also select Special Effects and uncheck the visual effects yourself, which you can do without.

3. Clean up startup

Does the PC take a long time to boot after turning on? Perhaps there are a lot of unnecessary programs in startup.

For convenience, sort the programs by the Launch Impact column and disable unnecessary and most resource-consuming ones.

Important: if you are an inexperienced user, we recommend that you carefully study the list and figure out which of these programs are system, and which just waste resources. This is very easy to do - just google the name.

4. Work on bugs

Use the standard Windows 10 tool to find and fix problems. This simple method helps you fix a number of common mistakes.

Right click on "Start" - Control Panel - Troubleshooting - under the System and Security section, click "Troubleshoot" - Next

5. Give 10 seconds

To speed up the startup of your PC at startup, you can reduce the Boot Menu Time-out

Right click on "Start" - Control Panel - System and Security - System - Advanced System Settings - Startup and Recovery - Options

Opposite the line Display a list of operating systems, set the value to 10 seconds.

6. Don't listen to advice

Windows 10 tries to be helpful ( It would be better if Skrepysh was returned! - approx. ed.) and tells you how to use the new interface features. Unfortunately, this feature can have a performance impact. Disable it:

Start - Settings - System - Notifications & Actions - Get tips, hints and tips when using Windows.

7. Clean the disc

Another method that is relevant for any version of Windows. Disk Cleanup will improve performance and free up space on your hard drive.

In the search box, type "Disk Cleanup" - Run the program - Clean up the disk (yes, sometimes everything is so simple. - Ed.)

8. Remove preinstalled software

Have you ever used the preinstalled programs? Chances are, you never even opened them. Remove this junk, as well as all software that you haven't used for over a year.

Right click on "Start" - Control Panel - Uninstall Programs in the Programs section - Remove all unnecessary

There is no extra software on our virtual machine :)

9. Watch your diet

Do not use Energy Saver mode unnecessarily.

Right click on "Start" - Control Panel - System and Security - Power Supply - Select a scheme - High Performance or Balanced

On the desktop, the settings are not active

10. Reboot your PC

Try just restarting your PC. No, joking aside - this will unload the RAM and guaranteed to zero out processes that are starting to over-consume system resources.

By the way, not everyone knows that shutting down and restarting a PC is not the same thing. Windows 10 uses Fast Boot, which saves a “snapshot” of your system to get you up and running faster. How missing it was before!

Hello IT department, have you tried turning it off and on?
