1. First of all, you need the latest version of the Winamp player, you can download it. Install the program following the instructions, no special installation steps are required.

3. Go to yours, go to the "DJs" section and click "Add DJ".

In the menu that appears, enter:
  • DJ name- This name will be displayed as the name of the current DJ who is currently on the air. This name can be whatever you like (for example, just enter your name or nickname).
  • Password- it is with this password that you will connect to the broadcast. Enter it and remember, you will need it in the next steps of the setup.
  • Image- an optional field into which you can upload your avatar, and when you broadcast, listeners will see this image next to the presenter's name.
Leave the "On" checkbox enabled, this option determines whether this DJ can broadcast or not. Now we need it to be enabled and ticked.
When everything is filled in - click "Add DJ" and in the list of DJs, in addition to the auto-DJ, the newly created DJ will appear.
The system assigns the broadcast port to the newly created DJ (column "IP: Port" in the table). Remember it, you will also need it in the future.

4. After creating a DJ to configure the broadcast plug-in, go to "Options" ...

Winamp properties.

5. In the menu "Plug-ins" -> "DSP (effects)" select the plug-in Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP. In this case, a window for its settings will appear, as shown in the screenshot:

6. To start broadcasting, you need to connect to the server - for this, in the "Address" field, enter the address of the broadcasting server that was sent to you during registration (usually this is s. Site). In the Port field, enter the port of the DJ that the system issued in step # 3, as well as the password for the DJ created in step 3. The "Use SHOUTcast v1 mode (for legacy servers)" item must be ticked.

7. Go to the "Encoder" tab, set the "Encoder Type" to "MP3" and below set the bitrate in which your account and tariff plan were registered.

8. Now you can connect to the server - to do this, click the Connect button just above. If all the settings are correct, then the Status will display information about the current broadcast and the number of bytes sent. In the control panel, you will see that the created DJ is connected and is broadcasting.

9. You can also specify the parameters of your Internet radio, such as home page, ICQ DJ, etc. To do this, click on the Yellow Pages button and fill in the appropriate fields. This information can be viewed by listeners both on your radio's status web page and in their media players.

10. Now all the music that you play in Wiamp will be broadcasted to the Network (including if you connect a microphone, the listeners will also hear it). The setup is complete.

Winamp can be considered the most popular program for listening to sound files in Windows. This program supports the largest number of sound file types (although plug-ins are used to support some of them). It also allows you to create playlists and edit ID3 tags. The program has a built-in equalizer and mini-browser, supports changes in appearance, sound visualization modules, etc. Moreover, the program is free - its latest version can always be downloaded from the website.

Let's consider the main functions of the Winamp program. Of course, there are newer versions, but most users prefer to use the old and tested versions of the program.

The delivery of the program includes a plug-in Digital Audio Extraction, which allows you to play audio CDs by reading and digital conversion. This allows you to listen to CDs even if there is no loop connecting the analog or digital output of the CD-ROM drive to the corresponding input of the sound card.

Typically, the program looks like the one shown in Fig. 12.1. Here you see three windows: at the top - the main one (it can be hidden or opened with the shortcut ALt + W), then - the equalizer window (you can call it by pressing ALt + G) and, finally, the playlist window (its keys are ALt + E). ALt + T brings up a mini-browser window. For the program to work, it is not at all necessary that any window be shown on the screen: it can remain active even if all windows are invisible. Any of the windows can be moved separately from the others. To make Winamp windows always visible on top of other windows, press Ctrl + A.

Rice. 12.1. The main window of the Winamp program.

To load a sound file into the program, press the L key - a standard file selection window will open. As mentioned above, Winamp supports a variety of audio file formats and can open and play MIDI files. To support some formats (for example, to play files in the TwinVQ format), you need to install additional plug-ins that were written for Winamp by third-party developers.

These plug-ins can not only expand the number of supported formats, but also perform other functions, such as being responsible for rendering. Audio tracks for playback (including those from a regular music CD) are selected as regular files.

The selected file appears in the playlist window. If one is selected, you can immediately launch it with the play button located in the main window. In the same way, you can select several files and, by double-clicking on the desired name, go to playing the desired one.

Controlling playback is very simple. In addition to the Play button, the main window contains the Stop and Pause buttons, as well as buttons to move to the previous and next file in the list. Above them in the main window there is a search bar, with the help of which you can quickly move to the desired place in the file during playback and during pause.

Above there are two controls: volume and sound pan. The EQ and PL buttons hide / show the EQ and Playlist windows.

During playback, the file name, music author and song name appear in a scrolling line at the top of the main window. Shown below is the stream width (which is quite useful for compressed audio files) and the sampling rate at which the file was recorded.

On the left, in the large window, there is an indicator showing the time from the beginning of the song or to its end. In the latter case, there is a minus sign in front of the time. Both modes can be switched by pressing Ctrl + T.

The sound being played is visualized in the same window: either a rough spectral graph is displayed, changing over time, or a traveling waveform (in the manner of an oscilloscope). The parameters of this simple visualization can be configured by pressing Alt + O, and the window shown in Fig. 12.2. In the Built-in visualization options area, select one of the above visualization methods, or disable it altogether by selecting the Off item. The Spectrum analyzer options and Oscilliscope options areas are intended for more fine-tuning of the visualizers. All changes made to the settings are implemented immediately.

Rice. 12.2. Setting up visualization.

If you want to keep all the controls close at hand, and there is too little space on the screen, turn on the shadow mode (Toggle Window / shade Mode) by clicking on the tiny button next to the cross for closing the window. This will turn the Winamp window into a strip, but it will retain all the basic elements, even the visualizer!

The program has convenient "hot" keys. For example, you can use X to start playback of a file, C to pause, and V to stop. Keys? and? move the current position 5 seconds backward and forward, respectively, etc. The full list of hotkeys can be viewed by pressing F1 and selecting the Keyboard shortcuts tab in the window that opens.

Another nice detail: if the window elements seem too small, you can use the Ctrl + D combination to double the main window and the equalizer window along with all the elements.

Winamp owes much of its popularity to the fact that it can support playlists, that is, it allows you to compose a list of several sound or MIDI files in a row and play them one after the other without user intervention. This is one of the very first programs with such a function.

In principle, even a single file loaded into a program or a CD audio track is already a playlist consisting of one file. But you can make a list of hundreds of files, for which you need to either open them or take all the files from a folder at once by pressing Shift + L This will open a tree of folders on the local computer, from which you just have to select the one you need (Fig.12.3) ... If the Recurse subdirectories checkbox is checked in the folder selection window, the program will also select all files located in subfolders.

Rice. 12.3. Adds all files in the selected folder to the playlist.

You can include in the playlist and files that are located on remote computers. To do this, press Ctrl + L and enter the full URL of the remote file. For example, http://www.mmv.ru/p/rusmodern/mid/bel_075rap.mid. Of course, to play such a file, the remote computer must be accessible. Winamp can play audio files of some formats (for example, MP3) in streaming mode from remote computers, that is, play one fragment while downloading the next.

Clicking on any of the buttons at the bottom of the playlist window opens something like a button menu. So, the ADD button opens three buttons: ADD URL, ADD DIR and ADD FILE, corresponding to the already considered combinations of Ctrl + L, Shift + L and L

The REM button opens a menu of four buttons, the lower one, REM SEL, removes the selected files from the playlist. Just do not confuse the selected playlist files, the names of which are located on a blue background, with the current file, its name is highlighted in white letters.

The CROP button, on the other hand, removes all files from the playlist except the selected ones, while the REM ALL button completely clears the playlist. Finally, pressing the REM MISC button brings up the usual two-item menu. The first of these, Remove all dead files, allows you to remove from the playlist those files to which there is no access. With the second item - Physically remove selected file (s) - you should be careful, as it removes the selected files not only from the playlist, but also from the hard disk! Of course, you cannot delete files from a CD in this way.

The SEL button makes it easy to work with selections. Its button menu consists of three items: INV SEL - invert selection, SEL ZERO - deselect all files, SEL ALL - select all files.

The MISC button also opens an interesting menu: using the MISC OPTS button, you can create a playlist in HTML format or read extended information about the selected files; using the FILE INF button, you can edit or view information about the file; finally, the SORT LIST button allows you to sort the playlist according to various criteria, turn it over (which can be done by pressing Ctrl + R) or arrange its elements in random order (item Randomize list).

To play files from the list in random order, without shuffling the list itself, press the S key or the Shuffle button in the main window.

If you want the files to start playing from the beginning after reaching the end of the list, press the R key or the Repeat button in the main window.

You can jump to the next file when playing the list by pressing the B key, and to the previous one - Z, or use the control buttons in the main window. Moreover, by pressing 1 or 3 on the numeric keypad, you can go through the list immediately 10 files backward or forward.

To load a previously saved list, press LIST OPTS and LOAD LIST. On the keyboard, this option is performed using the Ctrl + O keys. The NEW LIST button (or the combination of Ctrl + N), like the REM ALL button, clears the list.

The title of each title that appears in the playlist is taken from the file information, in particular from the ID3 tags. If there is no such information, the file name without extension is displayed instead of the name. To the right of the title of each song, the playing time is indicated. In the case of playing tracks from a CD, information is taken from the CD-text area, if, of course, it is present on it.

Let's move on to considering another feature of Winamp - frequency correction of sound during playback. To do this, use the graphic equalizer window, which can be opened or hidden using the Alt + G combination or the EQ button in the main window.

In order for the usual 10-band equalizer to work, turn it on with the ON button. The center frequency of each band is indicated under the corresponding knob. Each of the controls can boost or cut the corresponding band by 20 dB.

The program provides a set of pre-saved equalizer settings, which are called templates. You can load any setting by pressing the PRESETS button and selecting Load? Preset. The window shown in Fig. 12.4. The templates built into the program are given explanatory names. For example, the Classical template can be used for listening to classical music, Pop for listening to pop music, and so on. The required correction depends not only on your desires, but also on the model of sound card and speakers you are using.

If you want to save your own EQ setting for later use, press the PRESETS button and select Save? Preset. If you enter the name of the template in the window that appears and click the Save button, your template will be added to the standard set. You can delete unnecessary templates from the standard set using the Delete item.

By keeping your own settings and deleting unnecessary ones, you can create your own set, which can be written to disk as a file, so that if necessary, transfer it to another computer. Winamp saves a set of equalizer templates in a special EQF format. To save the kit to an EQF file, press the PRESETS button and select Save? To EQF. Accordingly, to load your own set of templates from a file, press PRESETS and select Load? From EQF.

Since EQ in some cases strongly affects the volume, you can use the PREAMP control located on the left side of the EQ window to increase or decrease the volume level before being processed by the EQ module.

I will also say a few words about what a mini-browser built into the Winamp program is. In fact, this is just a shell for browsing the web, made in the style of the Winamp program, so the engine of the Internet Explorer browser is used.

The mini-browser window can be opened or hidden using the Alt + T keyboard shortcut (Figure 12.5). At the bottom of the window are the most necessary controls: buttons to go to the previous or next page and buttons that interrupt the download and refresh the page. By default, the mini-browser loads a local page with links to Internet radio, free music archives, plug-ins and templates for the Winamp program.

Rice. 12.5. Mini browser built into Winamp.

To open an arbitrary page in the Winamp mini-browser, just press the Ctrl + O combination and enter the address of the required web page in the window that opens (Fig. 12.6).

Rice. 12.6. Window for entering the site address.

Winamp provides the ability to edit ID3 tags in MP3 files (the ID3 tag can contain information such as the title of the work, composer (artist), album name, year, genre, and an arbitrary comment). There are even special programs for editing ID3 tags. Although, if you do not edit ID3 tags from morning to evening, then the ID3 editor module from Winamp will be enough for you.

To enter this module, select the desired file in the playlist and press Alt + 3. A window will open (Fig. 12.7), which displays the ID3 information. You can make any changes to it using the Title, Artist, Album, Year, Comment fields, and the Genre drop-down list.

Rice. 12.7. Editing ID3 tag.

After making the changes, click the Update button - the new ID3 tag will be written to the original MP3 file.

Now let's talk about visualizing the music being played. In addition to the simplest built-in music visualization module, Winamp supports visualization using plug-ins.

To select an external visualization module, press the combination Ctrl + K in the main program window - the window shown in Fig. 2 will open. 12.8. In the Visualization plug-ins area, you can select the plug-in you want. For some modules, several options are available, which are presented in the drop-down list at the bottom of the window.

Rice. 12.8. Setting up external visualization modules.

The module is launched in a separate window using the Ctrl + Shift + K keys. Some renderers open in full screen mode. To stop the renderer, press Ctrl + Shift + K again. To start and stop the module, you can use the Start and Stop buttons in the module selection window, and to open the module configuration window, use the Configure button.

There are also modules for changing the appearance of the player. Their function is exclusively aesthetic: all the controls remain in the same places, but they can take on a variety of shapes and colors.

To change the appearance of the program, press the main menu button located in its upper left corner, and select the Skins item - an additional menu will open with the names of various types of the program (Fig. 12.9). If you want to return to normal, select the item .

Rice. 12.9. Changed appearance of Winamp.

If you do not have the names of the modules for changing the appearance in the menu, or there are too few of them, you can select the item<> and the program will send you to a web page (Fig. 12.10), from where you can download them for free, as much as your heart desires.

Winamp is the most famous music player among Russian-speaking users. At the moment there are two versions of Winamp - Full and Light. To install Winamp on your computer, follow these steps:

Step 1. Download Full or Light version of the program. The full version can play videos, has a library for managing all multimedia files on the hard drive, allows you to listen to Internet radio and has many other functions. Light is the classic version, which is a "clean" audio player without any additional features. The choice is yours, but here we will consider installing the Full version.

Step 2. Run the downloaded file.

Step 3. Follow the instructions of the installer, often just clicking the Next button is sufficient with a few exceptions. At one of the stages, the program suggests installing a new search engine in the system, as well as getting additional downloads. Uncheck the boxes to opt out of these offers.

Further, we are again offered an additional program that has nothing to do with the functionality of the Winamp itself. We put a tick “Reject” and press the button “Install”. Further, there are no surprises.

Step 4. After installation, the program settings dialog opens.

Here you can choose nothing and leave everything as it is. At the end, we are asked to enter an email address, country and gender. You can not enter anything and just click on the "Finish" button

Winamp is the latest Russian version of the popular audio player for Windows. Winamp has at its disposal a fairly easy-to-use library for working with multimedia files, supports the ability to change skins, and works with file playlists. Also Winamp provides the ability to connect various modules to expand the functionality of the player and other functions that are usually present in almost all similar products. But the main thing, perhaps, is that Winamp has excellent sound quality with low consumption of system resources.

Most likely, it is precisely because of the excellent sound, as well as the fact that the Winamp player is in the end simple and convenient to use, for this, apparently, it is chosen by millions of users around the world. By the way, now it is also very popular, with which Winamp is very often compared because of its similarity, both in terms of the functionality of the program and in sound quality.

Winamp was originally introduced to the public as the brainchild of Nullsoft, now owned by AOL. Shortly after Nullsoft acquired AOL in 1999 and made Nullsoft one of its structural divisions, the employees who were involved in the development of Winamp gradually one after another between 1999-2005. left AOL, including the creator of Winamp - Justin Frankel.

Winamp supports a huge number of popular and not only multimedia file formats, here are just a few of them:

AVI, ASF, OGG, CDA, WAV, MPG, MPEG, AMF, AAC, WMA, WMV, MP2, MP3, M3U, RMI, KAR, MIZ, MOD, VOC, SND, MDZ, XMZ, MTM, FAR, MID, MIDI, M2V, NSA and other formats.

So, the advantages of the winamp player include, perhaps, such positive aspects of the program as excellent sound quality, ease of use, very low consumption of system resources, support for playing a large number of multimedia file formats, as well as the ability to expand the program's functionality due to additionally installed plug-ins.

Well, the disadvantages of winamps include, for example, the inability to play some file formats without special additional plugins. It also happens that winamp does not always work correctly with the WMA format, and sometimes there is a bug in the form of degradation of sound quality after a very long playback of audio files. But, nevertheless, Winamp was and remains one of the number one multimedia players in the world.
