Samsung s7 camera setup. Cameras - front and rear

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones - flagships lineup Samsung with stylish design and a great camera. We will focus on the photography capabilities of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in our review. We tested both smartphones - Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. They have the same cameras, so the pictures and videos are no different. If you are thinking which model to choose, Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge - hold them in your hands in the showroom, think about which model you need: the more affordable and practical S7 or the stylish S7 Edge with a curved screen.

The main difference is the screen. Both models have touch screen AMOLED. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch screen, while the S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch screen. The screen resolution for both smartphones is the same - 2560x1440 pixels per inch.

More about Galaxy specifications For S7 and S7 Edge, read.

And today we will talk in detail about the camera of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. The main camera has a resolution of 12 MP, optics with a constant aperture of F / 1.7 and an optical image stabilization system.

Matrix resolution compared to camera Galaxy smartphone S6 has dropped from 16 to 12 megapixels! But at the same time, S7 began to shoot much better. What's the secret? The secret is in the larger matrix and new system Dual Pixel autofocus. Each dot is split into two independent photodiodes, one for imaging and the other for fast and accurate phase detection autofocus. The result is that the quality of photos and videos is noticeably better than that of the S6 model.

The front cameras in the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have a resolution of 5 megapixels, and optics with a constant aperture of F / 1.7. For Skype conversations and selfies, the resolution is more than enough.

How does the camera shoot? Let's see some examples of filming!

The main advantage of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge is the good quality of shooting in low light conditions. Here, the optical image stabilizer comes in handy - the pictures come out clear without blur.

The camera's light meter works accurately, the balance between shadows and highlights is almost always perfect. In auto balance mode white camera is almost not wrong, and if it happens, then very rarely. The pictures are pleasing with excellent sharpness throughout the entire area of the frame, the colors look natural: the camera shoots very truthfully, you look at the photo and remember, yes, that's exactly how it was in reality. All these advantages allow us to confidently call the Galaxy S7 camera one of the best in modern smartphones.

Pro Mode

Experienced amateur photographers will appreciate Pro mode: You can control all shooting parameters and save pictures in DNG format. The pictures can then be processed to your taste in a graphics editor. Of course, not everyone will take this seriously. But if you are serious about your photography and want your best shots, the Pro mode is for you!

Geotags

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge allow you to save geotags, this is very convenient function, you can always understand where the photo was taken. Geotags are enabled by default, but you can disable them in the settings if you want.

Portrait photography

We shoot portraits most often! The Galaxy S7's camera does an excellent job with this task. Check out our example. The photo was taken from a Ferris wheel in Sokolniki Park in the evening in the setting sun. During this time, the light is soft and ideal for portraits. Pay attention to the faces, there are no overexposures and shadows.

The second example is shooting on the veranda in a summer cafe. See how well the camera handles the foreground and background. Skin tones are natural. That's just the face in the shadows, but here Instagram filters will come to the rescue.

Selfie

This picture was taken with the front camera, it has a 5 megapixel matrix. The selfie turned out very well. Pay attention to the result of applying the filter, which smooths the skin of the face. In our example, it is very soft. But if desired, anti-aliasing can be adjusted to your taste.

Selective focus

Scene program "Selective focus" will effectively blur the background or foreground to your taste. The settings can be adjusted after shooting! In the Galaxy S6, this feature has already been implemented and included. Alas, there are still some glitches!

Snapshot normal in mode

In this shot, focus is in the foreground, the background is blurred.

Glitches are clearly visible in this picture. No need !!!

Object shooting

The Galaxy S7 focuses very well on close-up subjects. We filmed an example in a cafe. Here's a general outline:

And here's the cheesecake close-up! By the way, it's a delicious thing!

Day landscape

Capturing landscapes with the Galaxy S7 is a pleasure! This photo was taken at Chistye Prudy in Moscow. Look at the picture! Wide dynamic range, excellent detail in shadows and highlights.

Here is the filming of the Friendship of Peoples fountain at VDNKh. Yes, we were lucky with the weather, but Galaxy s7 perfectly conveyed the mood of a summer day!

Look at the detail in the shot. And this frame was taken with a smartphone :)

Evening landscape

This shot was taken in Pro mode with a tripod. Since the smartphone has a professional mode, why not take pictures in good quality?

HDR

HDR will almost always make your landscape shots more expressive and natural. But there are situations where HDR must be turned on. Take a look at our example - we photographed the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at the Tverskaya Zastava. The temple was in the shade, in the usual shooting mode, the facade of the temple came out dark.

Turning on HDR is a completely different matter! Shadow details are now better developed.

The second example is a forest in cloudy weather. It is not easy to get a balanced shot in this kind of lighting. The first frame is shooting in normal mode.

And here is HDR! Amazing. We pressed one button and this is what a wonderful result.

Test video

We figured out the photo, Galaxy S7 was able to surprise us! What about the video? Let's check!

Ducks Ultra HD 3840x2160

We filmed these wonderful ducklings at Chistye Prudy in Moscow. Look how cute they are! We recorded this fragment in Ultra HD holding a smartphone in our hands.

Squirrel shooting in Full HD

And here the shooting is already in Full HD. The quality is certainly worse, but Full HD is enough for most tasks. Look what a brave squirrel! Eats nuts straight from the hands of a child!

Swans shooting in Full HD

Some scenes look much more impressive on video than on photos! See what beautiful white swans live in Gorky Park in Moscow.

Rock musicians. Make the sound louder!

The Galaxy S7 writes sound great. We recorded a performance by street musicians. And they play very well!

Time laps

Galaxy S7 perfectly removes time laps in Full resolution HD. The most spectacular time lapses are obtained in fine weather, when there are white clouds in the sky. Fix the camera still and shoot the videos for 10 minutes.

Time lapse shooting example

DNG processing

As noted, the Galaxy S7 allows you to shoot in DNG format. See what you can do with your photo by editing it in Lightroom. Of course, the Galaxy S7 is not a professional DSLR. But there are situations when you don’t need to draw attention to yourself, but you just need to shoot a plot. Journalists often face this situation. So, with the Galaxy S7 in hand, you will look like a curious tourist. No one will suspect that you actually have a high-quality camera in your hands that can shoot in RAW format :)

Example of DNG processing from Galaxy S7 camera in Adobe Lightroom

You can try it yourself! Here are the originals of the DNG:

Let's summarize the testing results

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones do an excellent job of capturing photos and videos. If you wanted to combine the purchase of a high-quality smartphone and an amateur camera, then the Galaxy S7 is great choice! Feel free to buy Galaxy S7! Of course, smartphones are not budget-friendly. Look at the prices! Not cheap. But having bought a gadget, you will definitely not regret the money spent, the smartphone will delight you excellent quality assembly and, of course, pictures and videos in excellent quality!

Of the shortcomings, perhaps, it is worth noting the lack of optical zoom. Galaxy S7 shoots so well that there is a desire to shoot all scenes with it! We will also scold the Selective focus mode. It's time to fix the glitches! Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about.

Dear readers of our blog, hello everyone! The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a lot of new cameras technical capabilities, which significantly expand the functionality of a mobile device. How many megapixels can this device "pull"?

How well can you shoot photos and videos? What technical characteristics possesses a cell phone camera? We will try to talk about this and many other things today in a new review.

Camera operation in various lighting conditions and shooting controls

Compared to the best models such eminent manufacturers as "IPhone" and "LG", "Xiaomi", "HTC" and some others, the new "Korean" has an updated sensor " Sony IMX 260. Despite the fact that the resolution of the camera has slightly decreased (12 Mp new versus 16 Mp old), the quality of the photo module is still at its best!

The new sensor uses a special “Dual Pixel” technology in its work. It is often used in the most latest models DSLR cameras. All pixels on the surface of this sensor are small photodetectors that capture the flow of light that is reflected from an object.

The use of special technology "Dual Pixel" provides highest speed as well as focusing accuracy. At the same time, the image quality remains consistently high. The customer reviews for this camera are excellent. What other camera can deliver excellent image detail at any time of the day!

The pixel size itself is only 1.4 microns, and an optical image stabilization system is also used. Most importantly, however, the aperture of the lens itself has also increased to f / 1.7 versus 1.9 in the previous model. This level of aperture is the best among this type of smartphones.

As a result, its characteristics are significantly improved, and the resolution of the camera lenses is one of the best on the market! Thanks to this, macro photography and portrait photography amaze with the elaboration of all the details.

To match the camera and LED flash. Alas, it is only one, in contrast to numerous "dual" counterparts in the latest generation cell phones.

The shape of the photo lens is also well made. It protrudes from the body of the device only by 0.46 mm. Using design features, managed to remove the extra millimeter of the camera.

Camera setup on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge is very easy. So, to launch the application, you need to drag the lower right corner. You can launch it by clicking on a small icon from the screen, or by double-Tab on the Home button.

The application menu is made classic and very familiar to the device of the South Korean manufacturer. Above are the settings, where there are flash and HDR control buttons, as well as the shooting timer and settings menu. If necessary, you can set the timer delay for 2, 5, 10 seconds in order to take a picture with the front camera.

The maximum image quality is 4032 * 3014 pixels (12 megapixels) with an aspect ratio of 4: 3. These proportions are great for professional photography!

As for video, the resolution is VGA (640 * 480 pixels) up to UHD (3840 * 2160 pixels), there is also "classic" HD or Full HD at 60 frames per second. There are also special features. So, for example, it should be noted the control of the camera by voice, viewing images after shooting, geotagging, on-screen grid and quick start.

You can choose the location where the photos or videos of the front or rear cameras will be stored, and you can also assign one or another function to the keys. If necessary, it is easy to change the shooting mode menu and place mode shortcuts on the main screen.

The front camera is excellent and made on high level! Not worse than last year's flagship! In the event that the weather is good, then the camera reveals its full potential: the highest detail, together with the reproduction of natural colors, allows you to produce great pictures.

In addition, it became possible to select the focus point and adjust the brightness of the image. The quality of the photos is more than enough for use in social networks as well as for framed portraits.

Great shooting indoors too! Superb detail and background blur, as well as precise foreground detail. Phase AF with Dual Pixel technology doesn't miss. The flash is great for highlighting and illuminating the subject.

One of the novelties of the camera is the so-called live panorama. When the device is tilted, the image starts to move. The quality of all panorama photos is excellent at any time of the day or night, both on a smartphone screen and on a computer monitor.

With selective focus, you can select the subject on which the camera will focus. At the same time, ideally high-quality and clear images are obtained.

An interesting innovation in this South Korean flagship is the Food mode. In this case, you can use different shades. color palette shooting. In the "Pro" (professional) mode, it is possible to make precise settings exposure and aperture and take advantage of effect filters. All images can be saved in JPEG format or RAW.

As for the choice of video, you can shoot in wide range modes: VGA, HD, 1: 1 (1440 × 1440), Full HD, Full HD (60 fps), QHD (2560 × 1440), UHD (3840 × 2160). There are also special (slow and time-lapse - fast) shooting. Fans of making photo collages also got their own specific shooting mode.

In the dark, you can shoot very well in Full HD mode. Shooting in 4K provides not only excellent study of any details with a resolution of 3840 * 2160 pixels, but also the ability to zoom the image. For high-speed (time-lapse) shooting, you will need a tripod, and the video resolution will be Full HD.

As a result, for the new Samsung Galaxy S7 camera, you can put a solid top five. Everything here is at its best - both the enlightened optics and the technical component. Now any fashionista or fashionista can take an excellent selfie, take photos or video of any events?

To buy this gadget with great camera, you can use such sales systems as aliexpress or ebay where the devices will cost significantly less!

This concludes our material on the new Galaxy camera. If you want to continue to receive information about new products mobile technology and office applications, then you should subscribe to our blog and advise your relatives and friends to do this in FB, youtube, tweeted. Until next time!

Part 2: we study in detail the screen, camera, autonomous operation and other features

We continue our story about the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. In the first part of the article, the performance of the device was tested in detail, as well as its design was described. Now we will examine the rest of the key aspects, first of all - the quality of the screen and camera, battery life. And finally, we will share with you the experience of using a smartphone in extreme conditions.

Screen

As we already noted in the first part of the article, in the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the manufacturer decided to rely on the average screen size - less than in the Galaxy S6 Edge +, but more than in the Galaxy S6 Edge. At the same time, the resolution remained ultra-high (2560 × 1440). And visually, the screen really makes a great impression. Instrumental testing of the display was carried out by Aleksey Kudryavtsev, editor of the "Projectors and TV" section. Below is his conclusion.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface, resistant to scratches. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are no worse than those of the Google Nexus 7 (2013) (hereinafter simply Nexus 7). For clarity, here is a photo in which a white surface is reflected in the turned off screens (on the left - Nexus 7, on the right - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, then they can be distinguished by their size):

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is slightly darker (the brightness in photographs is 103 versus 111 for the Nexus 7, glare curled edges are excluded from the tested screen) and does not have a pronounced shade. The doubling of reflected objects in the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge screen is very weak, which indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen. Due to the smaller number of boundaries (such as glass / air) with very different refractive indices, screens without an air gap look better in conditions of strong external illumination, but their repair in case of cracked outer glass is much more expensive, since the entire screen has to be changed. The outer surface of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge screen has a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating (effective, better than the Nexus 7), so fingerprints are much easier to remove, and appear at a slower rate than in the case of regular glass.

When displaying a white field in full screen and when manual control brightness its maximum value was 410 cd / m², minimum - 1.6 cd / m². You also need to take into account the fact that in this case, than less area white on the screen, the lighter it is, that is, the actual maximum brightness of the white areas will almost always be higher specified value... As a result, readability in the daytime in the sun should be at a fairly good level. Reduced level brightness without any problems allows you to use the device even in complete darkness. Automatic brightness control works according to the light sensor (it is located to the left of the slot of the front speaker). You can make adjustments to how this function works by moving the setting slider. Further, for three conditions, we give the screen brightness values for three values of this setting - for 0%, 50% and 100%. In total darkness in automatic mode the brightness decreases to 1.6, 7.9 and 7.9 cd / m2, respectively (the first is too dark, the second and third - after adaptation of the eye, it may be normal), in an office illuminated with artificial light (about 400 lux), the brightness is set to 1.6, 130 and 405 cd / m² (darkish - just right - bright, which corresponds to the specified correction), in a brightly lit environment (corresponds to lighting on a clear day outdoors, but without direct sunlight - 20,000 lux or slightly more) - increases to 520, 540 and 540 cd / m². These values are higher than the maximum with manual adjustment, and this brightness should definitely be enough for the image on the screen to be well distinguished in any natural conditions. In general, the result of the automatic brightness control function is as expected. Note that even with disabled automatic correction brightness in a dark environment, the smartphone does not allow the brightness to be set higher than 190 cd / m². At any brightness level, there is significant modulation with a frequency of about 60 or 240 Hz. The figure below shows the dependence of brightness (vertical axis) versus time (horizontal axis) for several brightness settings:

It can be seen that at the maximum and close to it brightness, the modulation amplitude is not very large, as a result, there is no visible flicker. However, with decreasing brightness, modulation appears with a large relative amplitude. Therefore, the presence of such modulation can already be seen in the test for the presence of a stroboscopic effect or simply with a rapid eye movement. Depending on individual sensitivity, such flickering can cause increased fatigue.

This screen uses a Super AMOLED matrix - an active matrix on organic light-emitting diodes. A full color image is created using subpixels of three colors - red (R), green (G) and blue (B), but there are twice as many green subpixels, which can be referred to as RGBG. This is confirmed by a fragment of a micrograph:

For comparison, you can see the gallery of photomicrographs of screens used in mobile technology.

In the fragment above, you can count 4 green subpixels, 2 red (4 halves) and 2 blue (1 whole and 4 quarters), while repeating these fragments, you can lay out the entire screen without gaps and overlaps. For such matrices Samsung introduced the name PenTile RGBG. The manufacturer considers the screen resolution for green subpixels, for the other two it will be two times lower. The location and shape of the subpixels in this version is close to the case of the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and some other newer ones. Samsung devices(and not only) with AMOLED screens... This version of PenTile RGBG is better than the old one with red squares, blue rectangles and green subpixel stripes. Nevertheless, some uneven contrast borders and other artifacts are still present. However, due to the very high resolution they have a minimal effect on image quality.

The screen has excellent viewing angles. Truth, White color when deviated even at small angles, it alternately acquires a light blue-green and pinkish tint, but the black color remains simply black at any angle. It is so black that the contrast setting is not applicable in this case. At perpendicular view the uniformity of the white field is excellent. For comparison, here are the photos on which the screens of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (profile Basic) and the second comparison participant are derived identical images, while the brightness of the screens was initially set to about 190 cd / m², and the color balance on the camera was forcedly switched to 6500 K. White field:

Note the excellent brightness uniformity and color tone white margin (except for darkening and changing the hue to the curved edges). And the test picture (profile Basic):

The color rendition is good, the colors are moderately saturated, the color balance of the screens is slightly different. Note that in this case the picture occupies in height (with this screen orientation) the entire area available for displaying the image and goes over the curved edges of the screen, which leads to darkening and color distortion. Also, in the light, these areas almost always glare, which further interferes when viewing images displayed in full screen. And even the picture of films with an aspect ratio of 16: 9 goes into the folds, which greatly interferes with watching a movie. The photo above was taken after selecting a profile Basic in the screen settings, there are four of them:

Profile Adaptive display differs in some kind of automatic adjustment of the color rendition to the type of the output image and the surrounding conditions, which is obtained when the two remaining profiles are selected, shown below.

AMOLED movie:

Saturation and color contrast are noticeably increased.

Photo AMOLED:

The saturation is still high, but the color contrast is closer to normal. Now at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the plane and to the side of the screen (profile AMOLED movie). White box:

The brightness at an angle on both screens has noticeably decreased (to avoid strong darkening, the shutter speed is increased compared to previous photos), but in the case of Samsung, the drop in brightness is much less pronounced. As a result, with formally the same brightness screen samsung The Galaxy S7 Edge looks much brighter visually (compared to LCD screens), as the screen of a mobile device often has to be viewed from at least a slight angle. And the test picture:

It can be seen that the colors have not changed much on both screens and the brightness at the Samsung angle is noticeably higher. The switching of the state of the matrix elements is performed almost instantly, but at the turn-on front there may be a step with a width of about 17 ms (which corresponds to a screen refresh rate of 60 Hz). For example, this is how the dependence of brightness on time looks like when switching from black to white and vice versa:

In some conditions, the presence of such a step can lead to plumes trailing behind moving objects. However, dynamic scenes in films on OLED screens are distinguished by high clarity and even some "jerky" movements.

For profiles Photo AMOLED and Basic the gamma curve plotted using 32 points with equal intervals by the numerical value of the shade of gray did not reveal any blockage in highlights or shadows, and the exponent of the approximating power function is 2.14, which is slightly less than the standard value of 2.2, while the real gamma -curve slightly deviates from the power-law dependence (in the captions in parentheses the exponent of the approximating power-law function and the coefficient of determination are given):

For profile AMOLED movie The gamma curve has a pronounced S-shaped character, which increases the visible contrast of the image, but in the shadows the distinguishable shades are preserved.

Recall that in the case of OLED screens, the brightness of image fragments dynamically changes in accordance with the nature of the displayed image - it decreases for generally light images. As a result, the resulting dependence of brightness on hue (gamma curve), most likely, does not correspond to the gamma curve a little. static image, since the measurements were carried out with sequential output of shades of gray almost on the entire screen.

Color gamut in case of profile AMOLED movie very wide, it almost covers Adobe RGB coverage:

When choosing a profile Photo AMOLED the coverage is compressed to the Adobe RGB borders:

When choosing a profile Basic the coverage is compressed to the sRGB borders:

Without correction, the spectra of the components are very well separated:

In case of a profile Basic with maximum correction, the color components are already noticeably mixed with each other:

Note that normal sRGB-optimized images appear unnaturally saturated on screens with wide color gamut without proper color correction. Hence the recommendation - in most cases, watching movies, photos and everything natural is better when choosing a profile. Basic, and only if the photo was taken on the Adobe RGB setting, it makes sense to switch the profile to Photo AMOLED... Profile AMOLED movie, despite the name, the least suitable for watching movies and anything else.

The grayscale balance is good. Profile color temperature AMOLED movie noticeably higher than 6500 K, in the other two it is close to 6500 K, while in a significant part of the gray scale this parameter does not change very much, which improves the visual perception of the color balance. The deviation from the blackbody spectrum (ΔE) for most of the gray scale remains below 10 units, which is considered a good indicator for a consumer device, and also does not change very much:

(In most cases, the darkest areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance there does not really matter, and the error in measuring color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

Let's summarize. The screen has a very high maximum brightness and has excellent anti-glare properties, so the device can be used outdoors without any problems, even on a sunny summer day. In complete darkness, the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable value. It is permissible (and in bright light - it is necessary) to use the mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works quite adequately. The advantages of the screen include a good oleophobic coating, as well as a color gamut close to sRGB and an acceptable color balance (when choosing a profile Basic). At the same time, let's recall the general advantages of OLED screens: true black color (if nothing is reflected in the screen), excellent uniformity of the white field, noticeably less than that of LCDs, the drop in image brightness when viewed from an angle. The disadvantages include modulation of the screen brightness. Users who are particularly sensitive to flicker may experience increased fatigue due to this. However, the overall screen quality is very high. Separately, we note that from the point of view of image quality, there is only harm from curved edges, since this design find introduces very noticeable color tone distortions and reduces brightness at the edges of the picture, and also leads to inevitable glare at least along one long side of the screen in ambient light conditions ...

Video playback

We did not find the MHL interface, like Mobility DisplayPort, in this smartphone, so we had to limit ourselves to testing the output of video files on the screen of the device itself. To do this, we used a set of test files with an arrow and a rectangle moving one division per frame (see "Testing techniques for video playback and display devices. Version 1 (for mobile devices)"). Screenshots with an exposure of 1 s helped to determine the nature of the frame output of video files with various parameters: the resolution varied (1280 by 720 (720p), 1920 by 1080 (1080p) and 3840 by 2160 (4K) pixels) and the frame rate (24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps). In our tests, we used the MX Player video player in the "Hardware" mode. The test results are summarized in the table:

File Uniformity Skips
4K / 30p OK No
4K / 25p OK No
4K / 24p OK No
1080 / 60p Great No
1080 / 50p Great No
1080 / 30p Great No
1080 / 25p OK No
1080 / 24p Great No
720 / 60p Great No
720 / 50p Great No
720 / 30p Great No
720 / 25p Great No
720 / 24p Great No

Note: If both columns Uniformity and Skips green ratings are set, this means that, most likely, when watching movies, artifacts caused by uneven alternation and skipping of frames will either not be visible at all, or their number and visibility will not affect the viewing comfort. Red marks indicate possible problems with the playback of the respective files.

According to the criterion for outputting frames, the quality of video files playback on the screen of the device itself is very good, since frames (or groups of frames) can be output with more or less uniform intervals and without frame drops. When playing video files with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 (1080p) on a smartphone screen, the image of the video file itself is displayed exactly along the border of the screen, going into the bends. The clarity of the picture is high, but not ideal, since there is no escape from interpolation to the screen resolution. However, for the sake of experiment, you can switch to one-to-one pixel mode, there will be no interpolation, but PenTile features will appear - the vertical world through the pixel will be in a grid, and the horizontal one will be slightly greenish. This is true only for viewing the test world, the described artifacts are absent in real frames. The brightness range displayed on the screen actually matches standard range 16-235 - in shadows and highlights, only a couple of shades merge with black and white, respectively.

An experience using Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has shown that curled edges do not harm the image when watching a movie - you soon forget about them, and the headphones do an excellent job with sound output: even in road noise at low volumes, the characters' speech is legible, while the neighbors do not hear your movie ...

Camera

On the occasion of the release of the new flagship, Samsung decided to gather journalists and take them to the "near Moscow region" so that they can appreciate the smartphone in harsh conditions, without being distracted by work, social networks and other intrigues of dark forces. However, the nearest Moscow region, corresponding to the required harsh conditions, turned out to be the Karelian coast of the Kandalaksha Bay of the White Sea - in fact, the Arctic. There our editor of the section " Digital photo»Anton Soloviev and tested the smartphone camera. Below is his detailed report.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has an updated camera module as part of general program improvement of consumer qualities, as in the case of many other features of this model. The lens is now characterized by a relative aperture of 1: 1.7, the pixels on the sensor have become even larger and reached 1.4 microns (you can even remember the "famous" HTC ultrapixels), with each becoming double for faster focusing. The number of pixels was reduced to 12 million, which is the golden mean in this form factor (just remember the history of the development of compact cameras in 1 / 2.3 ″ format).

However, the hardware innovations had little effect on the camera menu.

An interesting feature of the camera is the manual mode, which has the ability to shoot in RAW. Generally, manual mode Like RAW, they are far from essential tools on a smartphone. Moreover, the manufacturer tries to hone the auto mode and bring it to the maximum, and the built-in converter often works much more adequately than third-party ones, so in most cases it is more expedient to use it for shooting.

However, in difficult lighting conditions, problems with the white balance may arise, which can be solved by manually setting the temperature.

RAW will also be nice bonus for those who like to tinker with processing, but do not forget that to get it, you need to turn the corresponding toggle switch in the camera settings, which is active only in Pro mode and at the same time is periodically reset after walking in other modes.

Panoramas are well implemented in the camera. Moreover, the power reserve during wiring is enough for more than 360 degrees. In addition, in the panorama mode, you can get interesting compositions if everything you would like does not fit into the frame. However, it should be borne in mind that panoramas are less clear than simple pictures. Unfortunately, the HDR mode does not work when shooting panoramas, but it would be quite good.

With IP68 protection in mind, you don't have to worry about your smartphone if it falls in snow or water. And although the manufacturer does not offer to shoot underwater, it would be a shame to miss such a chance, because we tested it not just anywhere, but on the shores of the White Sea (more on our overall impressions of using the smartphone in extreme conditions will be described later). There were a lot of problems when shooting with a smartphone underwater: the sensor starts to go crazy, the volume buttons set for the release are not very convenient, but the water is cold and salty. The first problem was solved by turning on the display after submersion or partial immersion, the second and third had to endure, and the smartphone had to be “freshened” in the snow after swimming in seawater. He endured all these actions with dignity.

Examples of underwater photography

Speaking of convenience, it is worth noting the problems when shooting with one quite standard hand. Since there was an Edge modification in use, the sensitive edges had to be handled carefully. (In general, these "edges" often create some discomfort when using, although if you want to, you can get used to them for the sake of design.) If you grip your smartphone the way you have to do with most tablet phones, your fingers often "occupy" the sensor, and the shutter button stops responding to pressing.

Example of a standard one-handed grip

For such cases, you can use the volume buttons in the settings and use them as a shutter button. However, they are located in such a way that it will not be very convenient for right-handers, and it is difficult to compose a frame across the remaining third of the display. In the vertical orientation, there are problems with the fact that part of the index finger periodically falls into the corner of the frame.

The last option: turn the smartphone over, taking it by the top so that the volume button is under the index finger. However, this is inconvenient from the point of view general use- you still have to connect your second hand to turn over. In addition, the smartphone is too thin and with such a grip it strives to slip out, and the fingers of the right hand constantly fall into the lens.

Quite good sharpness in the field of the frame, and the license plates are distinguishable at such a twilight time.

Decent sharpness in the distant shots.

There are not so many noises in the shadows, although the work of the noise control is visible.

The camera pays attention to small details.

The camera works well for macro photography.

The camera copes well with details in fairly complex scenes.

The camera copes well with night shooting, but only in manual mode.

Sharpness is not always uniform across the frame, but the area of unsharpness at the top in this case can be attributed to composition problems.

In addition to testing in real conditions, we tested the camera on a laboratory bench using our method.

The camera turned out to be quite flagship, albeit slightly raw, which, I would like to believe, will be fixed in serial firmware. First of all, the rather obvious sharping and the presence of out-of-focus areas in very unexpected parts of the frame confuse. In addition, a slight soapiness is noticeable, to which, however, we are already accustomed to Samsung smartphones. The rest of the camera behaves very decently and allows you to take pictures at the level of a good compact, both from the technical side and from the artistic side.

As you can see from the graph, the resolution of the camera is practically at the level of its predecessors, but the overall quality of the images has undoubtedly increased, albeit not much.

Focusing in the smartphone is implemented so well that you already stop paying attention to it. Dual pixels, in fact, implement the principle of phase focusing, and their presence throughout the entire area of the sensor ensures good accuracy... It is difficult to say if the camera focuses much faster compared to other smartphones, but there were no problems with finding sharpness, waiting for focus and misses during testing. In any case, in this regard, the use of the camera did not cause discomfort, so we can say that focusing is fast enough.

I would like to note the video filming separately, since this time its implementation in a smartphone really does not raise any questions. There is practically no "rolling shutter" effect, and other artifacts. The image is stable, sharp, without jerking or rippling, despite only 30 fps. Focusing when shooting movies is as fast as when shooting a photo.

The smartphone has a slow motion mode that allows you to record in 720p at 240 fps with sound. When viewing, you can slow down a specific section. Below is a video made up of various recordings captured on a smartphone during testing.

More examples of shooting with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge camera are presented below in the gallery.

Software and communication

Smartphone runs on newest version Android OS - 6.0.1. Above it is installed a proprietary Samsung shell, optimized specifically for the Edge modification. It is about an auxiliary menu that can be pulled out from the right edge, as well as the ability to use curved edges for color alerts.

By big account, there is nothing new here compared to the previous Edge, and, frankly, we still think that all these chips are rather an artificial attempt to justify the presence of curved edges and make this design find at least in the least useful, rather than really useful features ... After all, hypothetically, all the same could be done with a conventional screen.

Much more valuable innovation - updated file manager... Now you can easily transfer files from your smartphone to a USB flash drive and vice versa in it, unnecessary files can be removed from both a USB flash drive and a microSD card.

As befits a flagship, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge supports all the latest technologies and communication standards, including Wi-Fi 802.11ac 5 GHz, LTE Cat.9, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, ANT +. The latter is valuable because it makes it possible to connect the smartphone with various fitness accessories (for example, chest heart rate monitors) using an energy efficient protocol.

Also note that the smartphone supports two SIM cards. By at least, Samsung claims this, but we were unable to verify this. In our sample (engineering sample), the slot did not allow inserting a second Nano-SIM, the space for it was slightly less than necessary. Apparently, this should be attributed to the features of the engineering sample. But if you buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in the showroom, ask the consultant to show you how and where to insert the second SIM card.

Autonomous work and heating

The smartphone is equipped with a significantly larger battery than the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - 3600 mAh versus the previous 2600 mAh. Even in the larger S6 Edge +, this figure is only 3000 mAh.

Of course, such an increase had the most positive effect on the battery life: the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is one of the leaders in this regard, and it is able to run on battery power even with moderate activity for much longer than the standard time of one day.

With active photo and video shooting for one busy day, the smartphone sat down by about 50%, working in "airplane" mode and with automatic screen brightness. Under the same conditions, watching an MP4 movie loaded into the built-in memory drains the battery by about 10% every hour.

In addition, we tested the autonomous operation of the smartphone according to our method, with the brightness set to 100 cd / m².

As you can see, the less stressful scenario, the better the smartphone performs. So, in the gaming scene, it is inferior to the iPhone 6s Plus in terms of the duration of the work, and in video playback it is superior. And finally, let's pay attention to the excellent result in the reading mode. By the way, among the Android smartphones that we have ever tested, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is out of competition in this scenario!

Below are thermal images of the rear surface taken after 10 minutes of running the battery test in the GFXBenchmark program (the lighter, the higher the temperature):

It can be seen that the heating is highly localized above the center and close to the right edge, which apparently corresponds to the location of the SoC microcircuit. According to the heat chamber, the maximum heating was 44 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees), which is above the average in this test for modern smartphones.

We should also mention the speed of charging the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge supports QuickCharge and fully charges in about an hour and a half when using the included 9V 1.67A power supply. The device charges up to 50% in 40 minutes, half an hour is enough to fill the battery by 38%, and 15 minutes - by 22%.

During charging, both the smartphone and the power supply unit noticeably heat up, but this does not go beyond the comfortable values, that is, you will not burn your hands.

In general, despite the situation with load modes, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge can be considered one of the best (if not the best) Android smartphones in terms of battery life. And, of course, the charging speed is a very big plus compared to the iPhone, since there are times when you need to recharge your smartphone urgently, but you have only a few minutes, there are times - especially when traveling or if you forgot to charge your smartphone at night.

conclusions

Well, we carefully got acquainted with one of the main smartphone novelties of this year, tested it both in the laboratory and in real life(and in extreme conditions). Based on the results of studying the apparatus, we can safely admit that on this moment this is the real pinnacle of "smartphone building". The device combines innovation, practicality and uncompromising in almost all respects. By the fourth model in the Edge line (and the third among the S Edge), Samsung almost perfect ratio screen diagonal and case size, equipped the smartphone with support for memory cards and two SIM-cards, and was also able to implement full-fledged moisture protection without sacrificing the dimensions of the device or appearance (no plugs - hello Sony!). On top of that, the battery capacity has grown significantly, and now it is one of the best smartphones in terms of battery life.

The curvature of the screen and its functional application are, of course, still controversial (for convenience everyday use This is more of a minus than a plus), but one cannot argue with the fact that this feature makes the Samsung smartphone unique, which is perhaps really valuable in our time of clones. And advanced photo capabilities and highest performance make the novelty the perfect choice for the enthusiast. Of course, all this could not but affect the cost: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with a price tag of 60 thousand rubles takes the topmost price category... However, it is also cheaper than the iPhone 6s Plus even with the smallest internal storage. And therefore, it is a very, very formidable competitor to the flagship of the apple company.

Finally, we bring to your attention a video review, where we share the main impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and clearly demonstrate some of its features (including water resistance).

P. S. For an excellent combination appearance and design functionality (above all, the implementation of water resistance), we present the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with our Original Design editorial award:

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge (Samsung Galaxy S7)- flagships made of glass and metal with protection from water and dust, powerful and durable. But there is an opinion that the smartphone still cannot replace compact camera... Maybe! We'll show you how the Galaxy S7 coped with shooting in the toughest conditions: in the Russian Far North. Read the review!

A bit of theory

Remember last year's Galaxy S6 flagships? There the camera protruded noticeably from the body, in the Galaxy S7 the protrusion was reduced to an insignificant 0.46 mm. Less than half a millimeter is not noticeable at all. And this was done due to the increased battery. Now the Galaxy S7 has a 3000 mAh battery, while the curved phablet Galaxy S7 edge has a 3600 mAh battery! The charging speed is also impressive: the gadget will be 100% charged in just an hour and a half, and a 15-minute charge will last for several hours of use. By the way, do you think that the module does not protrude, since it has become simpler? No matter how it is. Move on!

Very, very cool camera

The Samsung Galaxy S7 | S7 edge uses the technology of professional DSLR cameras - Dual Pixel, which first appeared in Nikon cameras. For focusing, 100% of the pixels of the camera matrix are used, and each pixel has 2 photodiodes, whereas usually this figure in smartphones is less than 1%! What does it mean? The Galaxy S7 focuses in low light conditions up to 4 times faster than the Samsung Galaxy S6, absolutely accurately identifying the subject of focus. The principle works here: I started the camera and immediately took it off, there is no need to touch the screen and wait for the device to focus on the object, as with many competitors.

I don’t think that a photo of this husky (by the way, his name is Jared, meet me) would have turned out so clear with other smartphones.

Games in the dark

The Dual Pixel isn't all the Samsung Galaxy S7 is proud of. For the first time, a camera aperture of F1.7 is the maximum in the world of smartphones. With such a high aperture ratio, more light enters the lens, as a result, in the twilight, in the dark, the pictures are brighter and clearer. The pixel size has also increased to 1.4 microns, and as a result, images at dusk are lighter by 95%. See for yourself, the picture shows midnight in a canyon, slightly illuminated by lamps. Samsung Galaxy S7 did not brighten the darkness of the night, but the group of tourists in the center is clearly visible.

And what about macro photography? The Galaxy S7 focuses at a distance of about 5cm from the subject, so you can photograph moss on a rock, a fern twig, and a melting edge of ice.

Wide dynamic range

Have you come across a situation where objects in the foreground are well lit, but at the same time the background almost whitewashed? Or, on the contrary, does a normal "backdrop" contrast with a completely dark and almost indistinguishable subject? We have - more than once. The Samsung Galaxy S7 did a great job on the dynamic range of the matrix, as a result, even the most contrasting photos are obtained perfectly. See, for example, here in the center - bright white snow, in the foreground on the right - dark rocks, and in the background - green pine trees and a cloudy sky. All three levels are equally well drawn. A rarity for smartphones, in general!

Not just photography

The Galaxy S7's camera interface is full of settings. It is clear that the camera copes well with simple shooting, but what about effects, entertainment and useful tools? Everything is fine! Do you want to choose your own foreground and background after shooting? Please, "Selective autofocus" will take such a picture, which can be opened in the editor and indicate where to focus, in the foreground or in the background in the back.

Photographing food? The camera will make the color saturation slightly higher, so that the dishes will appear even more appetizing. If you want to liven up a panoramic shot - please! The camera will record not only a static picture, but also keep the movement of the lens in the frame. Get the effect accelerated video? With the "Hyperlapse" mode it is as simple as possible. Turn on, record a video, and then the "Hyperlapse" function analyzes the video and automatically selects the level of frame stabilization and changes in the video speed in accordance with the movement of the object.

Video

Support for video recording in 4K resolution, optical stabilization when shooting, gorgeous colors even in the dark, even in bright light - the Samsung Galaxy S7 will make an excellent video camera. Watch our examples of videos - there are husky dogs, polar beluga whales, and a fire in the night - all situations to assess the quality.

Perfect selfies

The resolution of the front camera is not as large as that of the main one: 5 MP, but the quality of the module is outstanding. Take a look at the pictures - they were all taken with the front camera of the Galaxy S7. Really, Jared is cute? By the way, in the dark, the smart flash function is available: the screen fills with a white glow for a second, illuminating you much softer than a regular LED flash.

A display that is always visible

When we are talking about shooting outdoors, it is important to consider the quality of the screen of the camera or smartphone. Sure, the curved screen of the Galaxy S7 edge is insanely stylish and cool, but what about sun exposure? See for yourself, information is visible from any angle, and due to the high resolution (Quad HD, for a minute!), The pictures on the display look like they are alive.

Galaxy S7 shoots well in the morning, afternoon and sunset, the camera copes with backlight due to the highest aperture and HDR.

Don't believe me?

All photos in our publication were taken on Samsung Galaxy S7 without any processing. Even the photos of the smartphone itself were taken on another smartphone of the same type. Impressive? We are very, compact camera turned out to be unnecessary even for the lifestyle shooting of the gadget in the interior and outdoors. Don't believe me? Keep an archive with the originals of all photos, look at the EXIF data and tell us in the comments what you think of the best mobile camera in your smartphone!

How much it costs?

Samsung has done the almost impossible: since the release of the last flagship, exchange rates have doubled, but Galaxy price S7 and S7 edge grew slightly. As a result, we have 49,990 rubles for the S7 and 59,990 rubles for the S7 edge. Try to find a competitor cheaper in all respects - it is unlikely that you will succeed.

Pleased with:

  • A gorgeous camera that takes great pictures even in the dark
  • IP68 water and dust resistant housing
  • Beautiful design: 3D glass, metal, thin frames
  • 4 GB of RAM, memory cards and a powerful processor
  • Quad HD screen with Always On mode, curved in the S7 edge version
  • Capacious batteries
  • Reasonable price

Upset:

  • In Russia there will be no 64 GB version, but there is a slot for a memory card up to 200 GB!
  • Front camera resolution could be higher

Conclusion:

  • Is not full overview Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge: we talked about them more than once. This is a review of the camera, which turned out to be perhaps the best among smartphones.
  • Pixel size increased to 1.4 microns, record-breaking F1.7 aperture, Dual Pixel ultra-fast focusing technology are just some of the camera's capabilities.
  • Ease of use at altitude: the camera starts up in a split second double tap Home buttons, and with ultra-fast focusing, you won't miss a single shot

Samsung and the mobile operators have already conspired to fill the new phone with several distracting (and sometimes downright disgusting) apps and services. No worries! You can get rid of most of them with a few taps. To remove from the application manager those programs that can be removed, drag and drop them onto the uninstall icon. Easily.

Remove the junk you don't need.

For those applications that cannot be uninstalled, you can do the same, but instead of uninstalling, switch the icon at the top of the screen to the "Off" position. This disables the application so that it will not run in the background or appear in the applications folder. You can also save a little time by going into the main app settings and scrolling through the full list of apps to find the ones you want to disable. Click on any of them and then click the button Disable at the top of the screen. Now everything looks much neater there.

Fingerprint setup

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have a fingerprint sensor built into the Home button and you should take advantage of that. To add and manage your fingerprints, go to the "Lock screen and security" menu, open "Fingerprints". When adding a new fingerprint, make sure to hold the phone naturally as you would when unlocking it and rotate your finger to grab all parts of it. You can allow fingerprints to be used to verify your identity when shopping on Samsung Pay, Google Play, and other services.

Application manager configuration

Home screen from SamsungTouchWiz faster and a little more feature-rich this year, so much so that you actually want to use it. First, it is convenient for configuring the application manager. The default structure of the manager contains folders of specific applications on the first page, and then the rest in no particular order. It doesn't make it very easy to find, though.

You can get rid of folders by clicking on the button Change, then tap a folder. This will put the app on the main list. Also experience the ease of creation own folders or modify existing ones using the editing interface. You can organize the applications as you like, in edit mode, or just use A-Z button to sort everything alphabetically. New apps will always be added to the end of the app manager, which is rather illogical if you prefer alphabet order... You can fix it by pressing the button again. A-Z time from time.

Disabling the information screen

Flipboard screen Briefing from Samsung perhaps the worst part of the home interface TouchWiz... It is slow and not particularly useful. In fact, some operators turn it off by default. If your carrier is not one of them, you should disable it yourself. It's easy - long tap or the zoom out gesture on the home screen to enter edit mode. Scroll to the left to Briefing and uncheck the box next to it.

Move apps using the top bar

When home screens are overloaded and you want to move apps, you usually have to delete objects to free up space to resize widgets or change icons. V Galaxy S7 not this way. There's a handy "Move Apps" icon at the very top of the screen when you drag and drop an app.

Just drop an app on top of it and get a bar at the top of the screen where you can temporarily place icons while you reorganize your home screen. You can even scroll through it so you can load as many icons as you like.

Moving and resizing home screens

When you start adding apps and widgets to your home screen, you can change your mind about where components should go. It's not easy to start from scratch though. You can simply move one of the Home Screen Panels to a different location. Long press or pinch on the home screen to enter edit mode and then long press and drag to move the entire panel to a new location. If you need more space on home screen, you can also do it from edit mode. Click the Screen Grid at the bottom and resize the grid to 4x5 or 5x5.

Always on screen setting

Samsung takes advantage of AMOLED display v GS7 with a new, always-on display mode. Some carriers turn it off by default, but you should try this. You will find the Always On Screen menu in the Display settings.

You can choose between a clock, a calendar, or just a picture (which is not very useful) to display on the screen while the phone is in sleep mode. There are also several different styles for each setting.

Video review of Samsung S7 Edge a year later:

Customize Edge Ribbon (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge only)

ribbon Edge only available in phone version Edge(and this is obvious) and only when it is in sleep mode. It is activated by swiping back and forth along the edge, and a news feed and information appears. Scrolling up and down moves between ribbon items. This can be helpful, but only if you take a few minutes to make sure you are being shown the information you need.

You will find ribbon options Edge in the settings "screen Edge". A few headings like Yahoo notifications and news are likely to be there by default, but you can also activate stock updates, a pedometer, and even download some more feeds like news and RSS reader from the Samsung app store. Order news feed can also be changed.

Side Edge Adjustment (S7 Edge only)

If you purchased Edge option Galaxy S7 then you got several functions that are not available on the regular one. Probably the most useful of these will be the panel Edge... It's a small tab on the right edge of the screen. Swipe over it and you can scroll through several screens of shortcuts and information, including a toolbar with a ruler. You can customize them by also clicking the settings icon in the bottom left corner.

The order of the panels can be rearranged and you can turn off those that are not needed. Several panels (such as app shortcuts) have additional settings that you have access to. App Store Samsung offers several panels that can be downloaded in addition to the included set.

If side panel distracts, only moving it to another part of the screen, decreasing its size or increasing transparency is provided. These are all options.

Change display color mode

AMOLED panels Samsung have extremely lifelike colors, but by default they may appear too vivid for some people. You can tweak this by going into screen settings and changing the screen mode for different color gamuts and saturation. The phone supports adaptive, movie, photo and basic screen modes. If you want the most accurate colors, then use the Photo and Basic display modes. Photo mode uses the Adobe RGB gamut for a slightly brighter display than base mode, which uses sRGB. Cinema and Adaptive modes shift saturation slightly past "realistic" levels.

Use Pro camera mode

The default camera mode can produce many great shots with its competent auto mode, but you can achieve more with Pro mode. Just click the "Mode" button in the lower left corner and select Pro. This will give you complete control over focus, ISO, exposure, and more. Also, you can put any of the settings on auto and change only a few of them.

Also, don't forget to play around with RAW images. If this feature is enabled in the settings, you get a JPEG and uncompressed RAW file that you can process in Lightroom or Snapseed apps.

Take photos faster with Quick Launch Camera

Galaxy S7 has an amazing camera and you can turn it on super fast by simply double-clicking the Home button. Be aware that some operators turn this off by default. You can activate this function in the camera settings in the "Quick Launch" section.

Stop stretching with one hand

Standard GS7 good enough for one-handed operation, but Edge 5.5 inches too big for that. Both devices have useful function regime One hand to keep items within reach, but it can be turned off by default.

To activate One hand mode, talk to " Additional settings»In the main menu. One hand mode should be at the very top. Once this is done, you can triple click home button start One hand mode... The screen will shrink down and move to the right, but you can move it to the left with the arrow button. Also, if you wish, you can install a standard keyboard to scroll more than one side in this menu. All this should be within the reach of the thumb.

Selfie flash lighting

Some phones like Moto X Pure Edition have a front-facing selfie flash, but not Galaxy S7... It does have a neat alternative though. When you turn on the front camera, take a look at the flash option in the settings panel. If you turn it on, the screen glows white, just like when taking a photo. Insofar as Galaxy S7 has a very bright screen, more than enough to compensate in a dark room.

Do more with smart grip

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge took over a feature previously introduced in the Note 5 called Smart Capture. This is a set of functions available after you take a screenshot. Three buttons appear at the bottom of the screen after taking a screenshot to provide quick access to more capture, crop and share.

Capture More is great for scrolling through screenshots.

The last two probably speak for themselves, but what about Capture More? Press this and the screen will scroll down and grab more on the page where you are. This image will connect together with the first screen in larger image... You can do this as many times as you like.

Check Samsung Pay

Samsung Pay is exclusive to new Galaxy devices such as Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge... It has support for other contactless payment systems - it works almost everywhere. Please note that not all banks are supported. Samsung Pay... If you have a valid card, Samsung allows you to pay from conventional credit card terminals that don't have NFC. It sends data from the magnetic stripe to wireless network using a technology called MST. NFC is also supported if available.

Launching Multiple Applications Using Multi-Window Mode

Not all applications are supported, but most are. You can switch to split screen mode on Galaxy S7 by long pressing the Browse button. The list of applications will appear on half of the screen, so you can select an application. The same thing happens on the other half, but if you have already opened the application when launching multiple windows, then it will automatically be placed in the upper half.

Good multitasking tools for running two applications at the same time.

You can go back and forth using both apps at the same time in this mode. You can also drag the center point to change the proportions of each window. Clicking on the divider brings up options to reposition apps on a split screen, close one, minimize to a floating window, or drag items between them.

Play faster with Game Launcher

Game Launcher is another feature that your carrier can turn off by default. To turn it on, go to advanced features again and "Games" should be at the very top. Turn on Game Launcher and Game Tools for other options.

Speed Boost with Download Assistant

If you absolutely absolutely need to download as fast as possible, GS7 Supports Download Assistant. This is disabled by default on all types of phones, as it will gobble up mobile data. Although, you may be fine with that.

The download assistant can be found in the "Other connection settings" section. If enabled, it folds your WiFi signals and LTE together for fast loading... You can actually double your download speed. If you have unlimited LTE then there is no lower limit.

Improving sound with an equalizer

Mono speaker from Samsung there is nothing to write about, but you may have paid good money for some smart headphones. You can get the most out of them by checking out the amazing capabilities of the built-in equalizer. Samsung... You will find the path to it at the bottom of the settings Sounds and Notifications For more information, see Sound Quality and Effects.

There is a basic mode with presets, but you can also manually adjust the 7-band EQ as well as other parameters such as bass and reverb. Also, check out the Adapt Sound feature to help you customize effects for your hearing and headphones.
