These components play a particularly important role in the line of ASUS motherboards. And this is not surprising, because when choosing a particular model, we not only evaluate its quality and the availability of useful technologies, but also take into account the availability of authorized service centers and, more importantly, the speed of the release of the necessary updates. In most cases, motherboards provide support for several generations of processors (as they enter the market), so the prompt availability of appropriate BIOS settings to enable correct system hardware updates cannot be underestimated. ASUS is well aware of this, so they take care not only of new models, but also of those that have been on the market for several years.

And now let's move on to an overview of the latest technologies and utilities integrated into ASUS motherboards. It is pleasant to note that most of them can be found in entry-level and intermediate-level models, which positively affects their functionality.

Technology

This is one of the new technologies, or rather concepts, which combines five really important features to improve the quality and reliability of motherboards:

• DIGI+ VRM - involves the use of a digital VRM (Voltage regulator modules) for more accurate and stable supply voltage to key components. This allows you to increase their performance and stability, while reducing energy losses.

• Overcurrent Protection - The use of special fuses on the motherboard helps prevent excess current and short circuit current from damaging internal components. First of all, this concerns the RAM slots and interface panel ports.

• ESD Guards - the presence of special microcircuits prevents the negative effects of electrostatic discharge on the internal components of the system. This helps to increase the life of individual components and the assembled PC as a whole.

• 5K-hr Solid Caps - uses high-quality solid capacitors with a lifespan of 5,000 hours - this is 2.5 times longer than traditional counterparts. What's more, these capacitors are subjected to 105°C during testing, meeting the requirements of Japanese industrial standards. Thus, users can be sure of their high quality, as well as stable and reliable operation even under increased loads.

• Stainless Steel Back I/O - the interface panel is made of stainless steel with an additional coating of chromium oxide - this allows you to increase the anti-corrosion properties. As a result, users do not need to spin up the system unit and reset the BIOS settings every time they fail to overclock - the C.P.R. will do this automatically the next time you restart your PC.

Dual Intelligent Processors

Dual Intelligent Processors is one of the fundamental concepts for many motherboards from ASUS, the development of which can be used to trace the evolution of the solutions of the Taiwanese company. Its first version involved the integration of two additional microcircuits on the printed circuit board: TPU (TurboV Processing Unit) and EPU (Energy Processing Unit).

It was one of the first automatic overclocking technologies on the market. It has guaranteed many users the ability to improve the performance level of their systems in a simple and fast way. At the same time, the EPU chip kept an eye on the optimal use of electricity, reducing power consumption (up to 80% in some cases). Thus, the technology of Dual Intelligent Processors significantly increased the efficiency of the PC, increasing its performance and reducing power consumption.

Dual Intelligent Processors 2 with DIGI+ VRM

In the second generation of the proprietary concept, which was called Dual Intelligent Processors 2 with DIGI + VRM, a digital VRM module (Voltage regulator modules) was integrated. This made it possible to increase the accuracy of controlling the supply voltage of key components, while minimizing losses. As a result, this approach had a positive effect on the possibility of automatic optimization of the system operation (operation of the TPU module) and its energy efficiency (functions of the EPU module).

Dual Intelligent Processors 3 with SMART DIGI+

The logical continuation of the planned course was the third version of this concept, which integrated the SMART DIGI + technology. It already involved the use of not one digital VRM module, but several similar solutions to control a wider range of supply voltages for key components, including the processor, integrated graphics core and memory modules.

This made it possible not only to expand the limits of automatic overclocking of the system (for example, the maximum increase in processor frequency is fixed at 85% of the nominal value), but also to lower the TDP of the processor to a certain level with just one click of the mouse.

Dual Intelligent Processors 4 with 4-Way Optimization

The newest version of the Dual Intelligent Processors concept is Dual Intelligent Processors 4 with 4-Way Optimization. Fan Xpert 2 technology has been added to the three already familiar components (DIGI +, TPU, EPU). It allows you to optimize the rotation speed of the fans used, depending on the type and level of load on the system. As a result, it is possible to improve not only performance and power consumption, but also the level of generated noise along with the temperature inside the case. All parameters are controlled in the AI ​​Suite III software shell.

This is a very useful technology that has been familiar to owners of ASUS motherboards for a long time. It will help save time, nerves, and sometimes money of users. The principle of its operation is to lower the parameters of the RAM modules to a level that is supported by a specific model of the motherboard.

For example, in the course of an overclocking experiment to overclock the RAM, the frequency of its operation was raised so high that the system refuses to start. Or you bought high-speed memory modules, the nominal frequency of which the motherboard does not support, therefore it refuses to start. In these cases, simply pressing the MemOK! on the printed circuit board will automatically downgrade the parameters of the RAM modules to an acceptable level, and the system will be able to work correctly.

Q design

Q-Design is a very important touch to the general portrait of current ASUS technologies and utilities, which emphasizes the Taiwanese company's attention to minor details and their concern for all aspects of using motherboards from the moment they are purchased. Q-Design technology greatly simplifies the process of system assembly, connection of key components and troubleshooting. It consists of:

• Q-Code - involves the use of a special LED indicator on the motherboard to display POST codes. Each of them reports the occurrence of a particular error, a detailed description of which can be found in the corresponding table in the user manual for a particular model.

• Q-Connector is a very simple, convenient and fast way to connect front panel connectors, which involves the use of a removable connector. All the necessary wires are connected to it (it is very easy to do this, since there are auxiliary inscriptions), and then, with a slight movement of the hand, it is connected to the corresponding block on the motherboard.

• Q-DIMM - involves the use of latches on the RAM slots on only one side, which simplifies the replacement of memory modules, especially with a video card installed.

• Q-LED is a simple and reliable way to detect a fault in a system. Near each key node (processor, RAM, video card, and others) there is a special indicator that indicates a malfunction of the corresponding component during system boot.

• Q-Shield - implies high-quality pre-treatment of the interface panel plug, preventing cuts to the user's hands during its installation.

• Q-Slot - provides easy removal of connected video cards due to the use of a convenient and reliable latch on the PCI Express x16 connector.

Remote GO!

ROG Armor

ROG Extreme Engine Digi+

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ASUS ROG) series motherboards are designed for use in gaming systems that are designed for long-term operation at high frequencies and temperatures. They are subject to higher requirements for reliability and stability. That's why ASUS designed the ROG Extreme Engine Digi+ for them, which has already been updated several times since its debut.

Its first version included a combination of multi-phase design, reliable analog components and a digital PWM controller for the processor. ROG Extreme Engine Digi+ II

The second version of this technology has acquired support for Japanese solid capacitors 10K Black Metallic (Nichicon-GT series) with a service life of 10,000 hours at a temperature of 105 ° C, which is five times longer than standard analogs. The panel itself takes the place of one 5.25-inch bay, and its display shows key parameters: processor temperature, base multipliers and fan speeds. • Extreme Mode 1 - turns the panel into a control panel for extreme overclocking of the system, giving the user a lot of useful tools: Subzero Sense, VGA Hotwire, Slow Mode, four 4-pin fan connectors, buttons for changing the values ​​of selected parameters and a number of others.

• Extreme Mode 2 - activated when Subzero Sense and VGA Hotwire technologies are used in Extreme Mode 1. In this case, the user can concentrate on optimizing several key parameters (Vccin, Vcache, Vcore, Vdram, Bclk and others), while monitoring the level temperature, as well as the current and required value of the selected indicator.

ROG ProbeIt

It implies the presence on the printed circuit board of special connectors that are designed to connect a multimeter and measure voltages on key components in real time. Firstly, this method is a little more accurate and faster than using software monitoring systems. Secondly, it allows you to receive information during overclocking, testing or gaming session, when monitoring software may not be available.

ROG Subzero Sense

But this technology will help professional enthusiasts to conduct their overclocking experiments with liquid nitrogen. Traditionally, in such cases, the temperature of the cooled components drops to very low values ​​- this complicates the process of its correct measurement (unless, of course, you own an expensive digital thermometer). Therefore, the presence of a special connector on motherboards will greatly please fans of extreme overclocking. Conventional thermocouples with a K-type connector can be connected to it. ROG SupremeFX III

The quality of the audio subsystem for ASUS ROG gaming motherboards has been one of the priorities since the inception of this series.
