Just a year or two ago you could say that you were choosing a phone for your grandmother, but today the situation is different. Suddenly, push-button phones began to become a trend again, just like in the old days. It will be interesting to find out what has changed in this segment of electronics in the time that has passed since the publication of the last review dedicated to mobile phones.

In fact, there is nothing surprising here: in Europe, similar models of the lower price segment are sold for 15-20 euros at the checkout of any supermarket, complete with a prepaid SIM card. And since they don’t make a cult out of the phone there, like we do, it’s common to see a businessman driving a Lexus with a cheap dialer in his hands. By the way, the so familiar Samsung and LG never stopped producing “push-button” devices, but simply put them in the background.

Who even lives in this segment? Mainly affordable brands such as Fly, Micromax and teXet, as well as little-known Chinese ones and those classified among them: BQ, Qumo, Keneksi and others. However, there are also plenty of famous ones: Philips has never left this market, and Alcatel continues to release new phones along with smartphones.

Design

The fascination with monotonous design has also reached classic phones: now many, by analogy with identical faceless smartphones, produce cloned faceless black “bricks” with different names.

However, there are some noteworthy moments here too. Firstly, the activity of the Spanish company BQ Mobile, which strives to stand out even in this segment, offering a bright and memorable design for 1500-2000 rubles. Secondly, the fact that in fact there are far more than one hundred phone models on sale, and if you want a new phone and stand out with it, this is also not a problem. Or you can just buy a two-SIM black “brick” for 1000 rubles and walk around proudly with it.

In addition, some bright models can be an excellent first phone for a child of primary school and preschool age, especially since some of the options on our list look very childish.

Note that you can still find the classic Nokia 8800 and 8600 on official sales - at an average price of 15 thousand rubles for the latter and 50 thousand for the first (especially for the Sapphire Arte modification - with a real sapphire instead of a button). Classics, as they say, never grow old or die. Not to mention other retro devices, which have already been discussed in a separate article.

In general, I am glad that manufacturers (including the “first line” - Samsung and LG) do not ignore this, albeit not so profitable, but very useful segment of the market.

Next, we will divide phones into two parts: “cheap” and “expensive”. But keep in mind that the amounts here are not at all similar to those for smartphones. Because by “expensive” we mean phones from 2 to 5 thousand rubles (there are more expensive ones, but very few), and by “cheap” - accordingly, up to two thousand rubles.

The criteria for selecting candidates were simple. First, they must be interesting or at least typical of their class. And secondly, they must be popular with customers, available in large quantities in stores and be relatively new.
