I bought a new iPhone, how to transfer data from an old phone to a new one. How to Transfer All Data from Old iPhone to New iPhone

If you have a new iPhone and you have a question about how to transfer everything from an old iPhone to a new one, then in this article I will show you how to transfer programs and all files from an old iPhone to a new one.

1. Create a backup in iTunes

First, take an old iPhone and connect it to iTunes via cable or Wi-Fi.

Then click on the iPhone icon in iTunes, scroll down to the item backups and click create a copy now.

You will receive a notification. The device "This is the name of your iPhone" contains programs that are not in your iTunes library. Do you want to download these programs from this iPhone? These apps will not be installed on your device when restored unless they are in your iTunes library.

An error might pop up. Some purchased items on iPhone, including "This is the name of the program", were not transferred to the iTunes library because you are not authorized to do this with them on this computer. To authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store, select Store > Authorize this computer. To see a list of files that failed to transfer, click the + below.

You can click on + below and open the entire list of applications that could not be transferred from iPhone to iTunes.

Now in iTunes on the top left, click on the menu button > show menu bar.

Now enter your Apple ID and password.

At the bottom of iTunes, click Apply.

Also click sync.

Now we click create a copy now to create a copy of the old iPhone and all its files in iTunes, so that later we can transfer it to the new iPhone.

There may be a warning on the iPhone device that there are programs that are not in your iTunes library. Do you want to download these programs from this iPhone? These apps will not be installed on your device when restored, unless they are in your iTunes library.

Click with copies of programs. So that all programs are transferred to iTunes, so that they can then be transferred to a new iPhone.

The transfer of purchases from iPhone to iTunes begins.

After the transfer of purchases is over, click synchronize, just in case.

A backup copy has been created on the computer. Now it will be possible to transfer all files from this iPhone to a new one using iTunes, since now iTunes contains a copy of the files from the old iPhone.

Just a copy in iTunes is enough to transfer files from an old iPhone to a new one, a copy in iCloud just in case, and a copy of contacts also just in case. After making a backup in iTunes from the old iPhone, you can proceed to transfer information to a new iPhone.

By the way, after you switch to a new iPhone, do not forget to turn it on , to protect your new iPhone from theft and hacking.

2. Create a copy from the old iPhone in iCloud.

Now we take an iPhone in our hands and go to Settings> iCloud on the iPhone.

Scroll down to Contacts and turn it on if it's turned off.

Your contacts will be merged with iCloud. Click to combine. This will copy our contacts from the iPhone to iCloud so that we can take them from iCloud if we erase everything from the iPhone.

Now go to Backup.

When iPhone is powered, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi, it automatically backs up data such as your photo library, accounts, documents, Health data, HomeKit configuration, and settings.

Backup to iCloud. Your iPhone will no longer be backed up to your computer automatically when you sync with iTunes.

We press OK.

Now the backup will be done in iCloud, click create a backup.

The creation of a copy of all files from the iPhone to iCloud begins, now we wait until the copying of the data is completed.

Now, in the event of something unforeseen, you have a complete copy of the old iPhone both on your computer in iTunes and in iCloud.

3. Save contacts from iCloud to your computer

This step is needed just for extra peace of mind, we will additionally save a list of all contacts from the iPhone to our computer. Log into iCloud and enter your Apple ID and password.

iCloud is Apple's cloud service where you can store your backup copies of iPhones, iPads and other files from your Apple devices. iCloud is located at icloud.com.

After logging into iCloud, select contacts.

Contacts displays your contacts from your iPhone and you can save them to your computer from here.

Select all contacts by pressing ctrl + a on the keyboard.

Now, having selected all contacts, click on the settings icon at the bottom left and select Export vCard to export all contacts from iCloud to your computer in a vCard file.

Now you have a file on your computer called Exportirovannye vCards iz iCloud.vcf with a list of your contacts.

Now, in which case, you can always import all contacts from this file to your iPhone. For example, now I will delete all my contacts from iCloud. I will select them all in iCloud and click on the settings icon at the bottom left and choose delete.

Are you sure you want to delete the selected contacts? Choose Delete.

And now click again on the settings icon at the bottom left and select Import vCard ...

All contacts from this file that were on the computer are transferred to iCloud.

And if the synchronization of contacts on the iPhone is turned on in the Settings> iCloud item, then they will be transferred to the iPhone.

But all photos that have been assigned to contacts will have to be re-assigned, since contact photos are not transferred in the vCard file. But this is only if you delete them from iCloud, and then import from a vCard file. And if we restore the iPhone, then the photos to the contacts will also be transferred.

Here is a visual video tutorial on how to save contacts from iPhone to computer.

4. Transferring information to a new iPhone

To activate and use a new iPhone, you need to insert a SIM card into it.

If you are switching from an old iPhone to a new one (for example, from 4S to 5S), then you will need to change the size of the SIM card from micro SIM to NANO SIM. To do this, simply call the operator's reference number and contact the consultant and say that you want to replace your micro SIM to NANO SIM card, you will be asked to provide your passport details and if you need to change your SIM card urgently, then the supply of a new SIM card within 24 hours costs about 200 rubles, but you can order the delivery of a new SIM card for free, then it will be delivered in a couple of days.)

Or you can go to your operator's mobile phone salon (taking your passport with you) and say there that you want to change the micro SIM card to a Nano SIM card. But again, I will only repeat this if you are moving from an iPhone 4S to a 5, 5C, 5S, or a sixth iPhone. Since the new iPhones only use Nano SIM cards, because they are smaller and take up less space in the phone.

By the way, I switched from iPhone 4S to 5S and noticed the changes that I described in the article.

After you receive the nano sim in your hands, after 15 minutes, a message will be sent to your number stating that work will now be done with your number. And they will turn off your old micro sim card so that only nano sim works. To activate the iPhone and proceed with the setup, a SIM card must be inserted into it

Turn on the new iPhone. The initial greeting will be in several languages, but all you have to do is swipe your finger from left to right? to unlock your iPhone.

Next, connect the iPhone to the computer via cable and turn on iTunes. Now click on the iPhone icon that appears in iTunes and select Restore from backup and click continue. This is to transfer all data from the old iPhone to the new one.

Now let's wait a couple of minutes until the data from the old iPhone that is stored in the iTunes backup is transferred to the new iPhone. After the update is completed. Your iPhone has been successfully updated. There are only a few steps left - and you are at the goal!

We take a new iPhone and click continue.

Now if you had a password on the old iPhone, enter it on the new one and click Join.

Now you need to set up iCloud. To complete iCloud setup, you need to enter your Apple ID password for your account. Enter your Apple ID password and click next.

iCloud settings are being updated.

Now let's set up iMessage and FaceTime. We select your numbers and e-mails.

Users will be able to contact you on all your devices via iMessage and FaceTime using your phone number or email addresses.

In simple words, iMessage is free messages between iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.

If you're upgrading to an iPhone 5S or later, you'll need to set up Touch ID on it. This is a fingerprint scanner, which is located on the Home button. It allows you to not enter passwords, but simply scan your fingerprint.

Use your fingerprint to make purchases instead of your passcode or Apple ID password. Start by placing your thumb or index finger on the home button.

We put any convenient finger (most often, which you use to press the home button).

Place your finger. Raise your finger and place its tip several times on the home button. There is no need to press the button, just apply.

Touch ID is ready. You can unlock your iPhone with your fingerprint. After setting up Touch ID, click Continue.

Touch ID allows you to conveniently and securely access your device using your fingerprint. From time to time, a password will be requested for validation.

You also need to create a password, because if Touch ID does not recognize your fingerprint three times, you will need to enter a password. We come up with a password.

If you use a password that is too simple or common, you will be warned: Are you sure you want to use this code? This code is widely used and can be easily guessed.

If you want to use this code, click use, if you still want to use a different code, then click change.

Today, many people own not one, but several smartphones. Often completely different, for example, an iPhone and something based on Android. But, unfortunately, not everyone knows that data on these devices can be synchronized. We propose to fill this gap and figure out how and with what help synchronization is performed, as well as the transfer of user information from iOS to Android.

Transfer contacts via Gmail

To transfer contacts from iPhone to Android, three simple steps are enough:

  • Create an account on the Gmail mail service.
  • Add it to the list of accounts in the Mail app on iOS.
  • Enable the sync feature in the app. The address book will be automatically copied to any Android device where you log in with this account.

How to do it:

  • After registering a mailbox on Gmail, launch the Mail application on your iPhone. Select "Google" from the list of accounts.

  • Tap Add Account.

  • Fill out a new profile: enter your name, email address and password.

  • Click Save.
  • Turn on contact synchronization in your mail settings and turn it off in iCloud (the phone book must be saved).

  • Set your Gmail account as a default mail account.

After that, the selected data will be synchronized through the Google servers. If you use this email as an Android account, the address book will be copied to your device automatically. True, some addresses and numbers may be duplicated. But this, you see, is not a particularly serious problem.

The method works on both old (for example, iPhone 4) and new Apple gadgets.

Export Contacts to Android via iCloud

The second way to transfer the phone and address book from iPhone to Android involves using the iCloud service. Open it in a browser on a computer or mobile device, log in with your account and go to the "Contacts" section.

Select the addresses you need (or, if you wish, all of them) in the list and click on the gear-shaped icon, which is located in the lower left corner of the page. Select the "Export vCard" option.

Save the file in any convenient place.

Next, open the Google Contacts service in your browser, log in with your Gmail account, go to the "All Contacts" and "More" menus. Select the "Import" option.

In the "Import contacts from other accounts" box, click "from vCard" and specify the path to the saved file.

Now log in with the same account on Android and make sure that the data saved in the vCard database has been successfully transferred. By the way, vCard files can be transferred from one mobile gadget to another if you connect them, for example, via Bluetooth.

This option is also suitable for use on devices of different generations.

Importing contacts to Gmail from other mail services using Yandex as an example

If you didn’t use Gmail on your iPhone, but some other mail service, such as Yandex, to transfer contacts to Android, you will first have to export the Yandex address book to Google mail.

For this:

  • Go to the "Contacts" section of your Yandex mailbox.
  • The desired option is located in the “More” menu and is called “Save contacts to a file”.

  • When saving, select the vCard format from the "Mail client" list.

  • Next, import this file into Google Contacts according to the instructions given above.

Exporting contacts in other mail services is done in much the same way. The differences are extremely minor.

Transfer contacts via iTunes

To transfer the address book from an Apple gadget to Gmail, you can also use iTunes, after connecting the device to the service.

After connecting your iPhone or iPad with iTunes, open the "Information" section in the menu of the latter. Check the "Sync contacts with" box and select "Google Contacts" from the drop-down list. After that, check their availability on Android.

Music import

To also transfer music stored in your iTunes profile to your Android device, sync it with the Google Music cloud service.

To do this, install the Google Play Music mobile application on Android and log in to it using your Gmail account. In the "Where do you store your music collection" box, select iTunes. After uploading albums to the Google Music cloud, you can listen to them on your Android smartphone.

Unfortunately, the service can be used for free only for 4 months, for a further subscription you will have to pay $9.99 monthly.

Import photo albums

It is also very convenient to use Google to transfer photos from iPhone to Android. More precisely, Google Photos cloud storage and social network Google Plus

Google Photos

To use Google Photos, open the service page in a web browser or install the Google Photos app from the Appstore on your iPhone. Upload photos to it (drag and drop onto the window or click the "Upload" button and select the desired files from the catalog).

After that, the photos will be available to you on any Android smartphone or tablet. To get quick access to them, install a similar program from . The browser version for a mobile gadget is not very convenient.

Google Plus

Those who have a Google+ account (and everyone who has registered a Gmail mailbox) can use this social network to share multimedia data between all their devices.

If you use the browser version of Google+, it's more convenient to switch to the classic view (the button is located at the bottom of the sidebar) to upload photos. In it, unlike the new one, the function of downloading multimedia files is in plain sight.

Click on the camera icon shown in the screenshot below.

In the "For whom" field, specify the users who will be able to view your photos, and click on the camera icon again.

For convenience, you can install on both devices - iPhone and Android, the Google+ mobile application. It is available for free download in both the App Store and Google Play.

Is it possible to transfer apps from iOS to Android?

One can only dream of directly transferring programs from one device to another, since, alas, it is impossible to implement this in practice. iOS and Android are too different platforms, and the same version of the application cannot work on both of them. However, you can get out of this situation without loss.

Many mobile software developers release their products for both platforms. This means that the likelihood that you will find familiar applications on Google Play is very high. Some of them (usually paid ones) have their own cloud services that allow you to synchronize files and settings on different gadgets. Others are local and will have to be configured from scratch. But files created in such a program on one device will open on another, so there is essentially nothing to worry about, because the main thing is that you will not lose anything.
