Any other use of the Software, including but not limited to use with non-Intel component products, is not licensed hereunder.

LICENSE RESTRICTIONS. You may NOT: (i) use or copy the Materials except as provided in this Agreement; (ii) rent or lease the Materials to any third party; (iii) assign this Agreement or transfer the Materials without the express written consent of Intel; (iv) modify, adapt, or translate the Materials in whole or in part except as provided in this Agreement; (v) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Materials; (vi) attempt to modify or tamper with the normal function of a license manager that regulates usage of the Materials; (vii) distribute, sublicense or transfer the Source Code form of any components of the Materials, Redistributables and Sample Source and derivatives thereof to any third party except as provided in this Agreement.
NO OTHER RIGHTS. No rights or licenses are granted by Intel to you, expressly or by implication, with respect to any proprietary information or patent, copyright, mask work, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right owned or controlled by Intel, except as expressly provided in this Agreement. Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right is granted to you directly or by implication, inducement, estoppel, or otherwise. Specifically, Intel grants no express or implied right to you under Intel patents, copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.
OWNERSHIP OF SOFTWARE AND COPYRIGHTS. The Software is licensed, not sold. Title to all copies of the Software remains with Intel. The Software is copyrighted and protected by the laws of the United States and other countries and international treaty provisions. You may not remove any copyright notices from the Software. You agree to prevent any unauthorized copying of the Software. Intel may make changes to the Software, or to items referenced therein, at any time without notice, but is not obligated to support or update the Software. You may transfer the Software only if the recipient agrees to be fully bound by these terms and if you retain no copies of the Software.
LIMITED MEDIA WARRANTY. If the Software has been delivered by Intel on physical media, Intel warrants the media to be free from material physical defects for a period of ninety days after delivery by Intel. If such a defect is found, return the media to Intel for replacement or alternate delivery of the Software as Intel may select.
EXCLUSION OF OTHER WARRANTIES. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, NONINFRINGEMENT, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS. The Software is provided with "RESTRICTED RIGHTS." (Internet) in the modern computing world, special devices called network controllers are used. They are a connecting link between a computer, laptop or mobile gadget and a provider providing such communication services (now we do not touch upon connecting components such as routers, ADSL modems or other routers, hubs, repeaters, etc.). Let's consider the question of what a network controller is, and figure out how to install and configure standard drivers for its correct operation.
Types of network controllers
It is a mistake to believe that only universal Ethernet cards are related to network controllers. The general classification implies their division into two main types: wired and wireless.
As you already understand, standard wired controllers are used to directly connect the cord to a special socket. Communication between the user and the provider is carried out directly through the installed router. Typically, this type of network controller is installed directly on the motherboard (built-in) or in special PCI slots (removable).
As for wireless Wi-Fi controllers, the most common are the following: built-in, internal with a PCI interface (for example, Level One WNC-0300), internal with a PCMCIA interface (for example, Level One WPC-0300) and external with USB interface.
Standard driver installation scheme
Naturally, as with any other device, you will need to install a driver. The network controller simply won't work without it.
As a rule, when installing the operating system itself, the network controller, as well as the rest of the hardware components, will be detected automatically. For example, Windows will automatically install the necessary drivers from its own database.
Sometimes, of course, unforeseen situations can occur when the network controller, driver or any additional software may not correspond to each other, say, in terms of technical parameters or system requirements, due to which all sorts of conflicts may appear in the system.
In this case, it is recommended to install the driver package from the disc, which, as a rule, is included in the distribution kit upon purchase. If there is no such disk (for example, when a second-hand network controller is bought from hands), you can look at the equipment labeling and go directly to the website of its manufacturer. There you can select the driver you want.
The advantage of this solution is that the websites of equipment manufacturers always have the most current (freshest) driver versions available for download completely free of charge.
As for the installation (if Windows does not detect the presence of a driver), during the installation process, you need to select the item "Install from disk" or "Install from specified source" (depending on the OS version).
You can do it even easier. If the installation distribution kit comes in the form of an executable EXE file, you just need to run it and wait until the installation process is complete. You may need to reboot your system.
What to do if the controller doesn't work
There can be many reasons for the appearance of such a situation. As a rule, the main one is the incorrect installation of the driver. In this case, it is worth clarifying the marking of the model itself and finding a driver for an exact match. Please note that some models with the same basic name may have several modifications, each of which has its own driver.
In some cases, you can try to first remove the controller driver or the device itself in the "Device Manager" (it is marked in yellow), and then reinstall the driver.
It will not hurt to check with special software-testers such as Everest, which give the most detailed information absolutely on all the hardware installed in the computer system.
It can also help the use of special packages that are functionally designed to automatically search and update drivers for all equipment (for example, Driver Booster). Naturally, the network controller will also be present in the list of devices. If it is not on the list, you will have to check the correct connection of the device itself, and in extreme cases, replace it due to failure.
As for the programs themselves, they are interesting in the sense that they refer specifically to the manufacturers' websites and find the latest driver versions. True, most of these programs are either paid or shareware, so you have to choose whether to pay or not.
Additional procedures
So, there is nothing difficult in installing drivers for a network controller. Now you need to take a few additional steps related to setting up access to the Internet (IP address, gateway, subnet mask, DNS and WINS servers, if necessary, a proxy server, etc.) For wireless networks, installation of drivers is also provided. for routers or ADSL modems and their subsequent configuration.
The basic settings for the system are given by the provider himself when concluding a contract and installing equipment. Device drivers are installed in a standard way.

Installing the network driver

Several examples of displaying a similar problem in different versions of Windows are presented below.
This occurs, most often, in the following cases:
- After reinstalling Windows... This is the most common reason. The fact is that, after formatting the disk and installing a new Windows, the drivers that were in the "old" system will be removed, but in the new one they are not yet (you need to install it again). This is where the most interesting thing begins: the disk from the PC (network card), it turns out, has long been lost, and the driver cannot be downloaded on the Internet, since there is no network due to the lack of a driver (sorry for the tautology, but such a vicious circle)... It should be noted that new versions of Windows (7, 8, 10), during installation, find and install universal drivers for most equipment (rarely, something remains without a driver).
- Installing new drivers... For example, old drivers have been removed, and new ones installed incorrectly - please get a similar error.
- Installing networking applications... Various applications for working with the network (for example, if they are incorrectly deleted, installed, etc.) can create similar problems.
- Virus attack. Viruses, in general, can do anything :). No comment here. I recommend this article:
If the drivers are okay ...
Pay attention to this moment. Each network adapter in your PC (laptop) has its own driver installed. For example, on a typical laptop, there are usually two adapters: Wi-Fi and Ethernet (see screen below):
- Dell Wireless 1705 ... is the Wi-Fi adapter;
- Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller is just a network controller (Ethernet-Controller as it is called).
HOW TO RESTORE THE NETWORK PERFORMANCE / FIND THE DRIVER FOR THE NETWORK CARD
An important point. If the Internet does not work on your computer (due to the fact that there is no driver), then you cannot do without the help of a neighbor or friend. Although, in some cases, you can get by with a phone, for example, by downloading the required driver to it and then transferring it to your PC. Or, as another option, just share the Internet from it, if, for example, you have a driver for Wi-Fi:
Option number 1: manual ...
This option has the following advantages:
- no need to install any additional utilities;
- download only the driver you need (i.e. there is no point in downloading gigabytes of unnecessary information);
- you can find a driver even for the rarest equipment, when special. programs don't help.
True, there are also disadvantages: you have to spend some time searching ...
To download and install the driver on any Ethernet controller, you first need to determine exactly its model (well, and Windows OS - with this, I think, there will be no problems. If anything - open "my computer" and right-click anywhere, then go to properties - there will be all information about the OS).
One of the most reliable ways to identify a specific hardware model is to use specific VIDs and PIDs. Each equipment has them:
- VID is the manufacturer's identifier;
- The PID is the product identifier, i.e. indicates a specific device model (usually).
That is, to download a driver for a device, for example, a network card, you need to find out the VID and PID of this device.
To find out VID and PID - first you need to open device Manager... Next, find equipment with a yellow exclamation mark (well, or the one for which you are looking for a driver). Then open its properties (screen below).
Next, you need to open the "Information" tab and select "Hardware ID" in the properties. Below you will see a list of values - this is what we were looking for. This line must be copied by right-clicking on it and selecting the appropriate one from the menu (see screenshot below). Actually, this line can be used to search for a driver!
Then you insert this string into a search engine (for example, Google) and find the drivers you are looking for on numerous sites.

Option 2: with the help of special. programs
Most programs for automatic driver update have one urgent need: the PC where they work must have Internet access (and preferably fast). Naturally, in this case it makes no sense to recommend such programs for installation on a computer ...
But there are some programs that can work autonomously (i.e. they already have all the most common universal drivers that can be installed on a PC).
- 3DP NET. A very small program (you can even download it using the Internet on your phone), which is designed specifically to update and install drivers for network controllers. It can work without access to the Internet. In general, it is very welcome, in our case;
- Driver Pack Solutions. This program is distributed in 2 versions: the first is a small utility that needs access to the Internet (I am not considering it), the second is an ISO image with a huge set of drivers (everything is there for everything - you can update the drivers for all the equipment that is installed on your computer)... The only problem is that this ISO image weighs in at about 10 GB. Therefore, you need to download it in advance, for example, on a USB flash drive, and then run it on a PC where there is no driver.

That, in fact, is the whole solution to the problem in this case. As you can see from the article, in many cases you can do it even on your own. In general, I recommend downloading and saving somewhere on a USB flash drive drivers for all the equipment that you have (while everything works). And in case of any failure, you can quickly and easily restore everything without hassle (even if you reinstall Windows).
