TFT IPS- High quality liquid crystal matrix. Has wide viewing angles, one of the best indicators of color and contrast quality among all that are used in the production of displays for portable equipment.
Super AMOLED- if a conventional AMOLED screen uses several layers, between which there is an air gap, then in Super AMOLED there is only one such touch layer without air gaps. This allows you to achieve a brighter screen for the same power consumption.
Super AMOLED HD- differs from Super AMOLED in high resolution, thanks to which it is possible to achieve a size of 1280x720 pixels on the screen of a mobile phone.
Super AMOLED plus- This is a new generation of Super AMOLED displays, which differs from the previous one by using more subpixels in a conventional RGB matrix. The new displays are 18% thinner and brighter than the older PenTile technology.
AMOLED- an improved version of OLED technology. The main advantages of the technology are significantly reduced power consumption, the ability to display a wider color gamut, smaller thickness and the ability of the display to bend slightly without the risk of breaking.
Retina-display with high pixel density, designed specifically for Apple technology. The pixel density on Retina displays is such that individual pixels are invisible to the eye at a normal distance from the screen. This provides the highest picture detail and dramatically improves the overall viewing experience.
Super Retina HD- the display is made using OLED technology. The pixel density is 458 PPI, the contrast ratio reaches 1,000,000: 1. The display has a wide color gamut and unrivaled color accuracy. Pixels in the corners of the display are anti-aliased at the sub-pixel level, so the edges stay flat and look flat. 50% thicker Super Retina HD gain layer. It will be harder to break the screen.
Super LCD is the next generation of LCD technology and offers improved performance over earlier LCD displays. The screens have not only wide viewing angles and better color reproduction, but also lower power consumption.
TFT- A common type of liquid crystal displays. The active matrix, controlled by TFTs, significantly improves display performance, as well as image contrast and clarity.
OLED- organic electroluminescent display. Consists of a special thin-film polymer that emits light under the action of an electric field. This type of display has a large margin of brightness and consumes very little power.

A smartphone with such technical characteristics was destined to appear in the line of budget devices, so the manufacturer decided not to "reward" it with something unique. Against the background of the price that very daring sellers are asking today, the buyer can get a good imitation of interesting opportunities. Here's a front-facing flash. So the emphasis on selfies? Here's a fingerprint sensor. So the smartphone will recognize me from one touch? Yes, but let's figure out in the review how it will all work in practice.

Outwardly, the smartphone does not stand out in any way from a number of familiar touch devices in its segment. It fits well in your hand. The back panel is made of metal. By the way, the cover is removable. To be honest, I last saw a removable smartphone battery two years ago. Under the cover there are two trays for SIM cards and a separate slot for a memory card. A standard, simple-minded set, and it's nice.

The smartphone is massive, the camera for some reason sticks out on the body. Overall, the smartphone makes a positive impression. Signature Moto design is recognizable. If you are a fan of the brand, then you will receive a lot of positive vibrations from tactile contact with the “four”. But do not flatter yourself, this is a budget model.

There are things that you don't notice right away - they become visible over time. I did not immediately appreciate the screen, but it is really good. Perhaps the display is the part in the smartphone that I have no complaints about. Excellent visibility of the screen in the sun, high responsiveness and quite contrasting colors.

If the screen makes an extremely positive impression, then the button under it, which combines the functionality of a fingerprint sensor, is not entirely. The button is touch sensitive, responds to the slightest touch, but the scanner itself cannot boast of instant and trouble-free fingerprint recognition. The scanner is not fast. Sometimes it dulls.

The smartphone can be controlled using gestures. For example, a swipe to the right on a touch key calls up a list of running applications, a swipe to the left cancels an action. Holding the button locks the screen, and a short press opens the main screen. In general, everything is extremely simple. But the smartphone does not react to these gestures instantly, not always accurately. This fact is frustrating, sometimes it is not so convenient to use gestures in transport, in this case you have to return the on-screen buttons.

Battery life is standard, nothing outstanding. The smartphone can work without recharging for a whole day. The power saving modes do not correct the situation much, so you will most likely not be able to save the charge on the second day. The smartphone takes a long time to charge, more than two hours. The budget of the device also determines the presence of a microUSB connector.

There are no complaints about the quality of communication and voice transmission during calls. Everything is fine. The microphones work flawlessly, the audibility of the speaker remains at a good level even in noisy environments. The smartphone confidently picks up the connection everywhere. By the way, there is support for 4G.

Speaking of sound quality, the speakers are good. They do not have unique properties and characteristics, while they produce a loud and fairly clear sound. The sound in the headphones is not bad, but it all depends on the quality of your headphones.

What impressed me at all was the camera's performance. Very, very poor quality of shooting, the camera does not focus well. Most photos are blurry. For this parameter, the device can be given the most unsatisfactory mark. The only thing that the camera can boast of is a powerful flash. Moto E4 is a flashlight for any task. The front camera shoots passably, self-portraits in good lighting conditions are detailed. The front flash provides excellent illumination of everything around.

Flaws

Screen Size

Commentary

There are ladders or graininess on the screen, this is the only minus of this phone to the size, you quickly get used to it, plus there is one-handed control advice to take the silicone case right away, the phone is rather slippery and heavy 200 g, no matter how, and glass also does not hurt advice before buying a phone to look at the numbers or rather, on their edge or get acquainted with the aspect ratio and ppi

Battery capacity for that kind of money, compared to competitors.

Flaws

Lack of cover - in the whole city of Vladivostok was not found. Only delivery from Moscow - 600 rubles. - minimum -silicone bumper.

Commentary

silicone bumper - ordered from Taoba - from China - 100 rubles. with delivery.

Flaws

Very quiet sound. The call signal is not audible on the street, it is not audible at all. If it is in the pocket of your trousers only by vibration, you can determine that there is an incoming call.

Unconditional leadership in the price / performance ratio! Of the closest competitors (with an NFC module) there is a Nokia 5 for 9,990 rubles, but it has only 2GB of RAM and a weaker 3000 mAh battery. With 3 GB of RAM, there is Honor 7C, but its price is already 10,990 rubles, and also a weak 3000 mAh battery. And only one model has the same battery capacity as our hero (5000 mAh), this is Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1), but at the same time its price is already 13,290 rubles, which is almost 2 times higher! Additionally, this device has a number of advantages that you will not find in its competitors in full: - Fingerprint scanner, which can also be used for navigation instead of on-screen buttons - Indicator lamp for missed events - A separate slot for a memory card with a capacity of up to 128GB - allows you to forget about the fact that the phone has only 16GB of internal memory, while the memory of the card can be combined with the memory of the phone, and it will be displayed as a whole! - Pure Android 7.1 with some Motorola chips. After the purchase, my smartphone has been updated by air 3 times! - Flash for the front camera! - Removable back cover, which greatly simplifies access to the insides of the smartphone in comparison with non-separable smartphones with glue - easier and cheaper to repair if necessary! - A good and loud enough external speaker, while not wheezing - Of course, a huge 5000 mAh battery, my wife has enough for 3-4 days - NFC allows you not to carry a bunch of credit and discount cards, I even forgot the pin codes on some, something like that

Flaws

What are the disadvantages for 7000 rubles? The whole smartphone is one big advantage! Well, maybe it won't suit gamblers (the processor is weak), and there may be problems with finding covers and accessories for it, but this can be easily solved through Chinese online stores.

Commentary

I bought this device for my wife, she is delighted. I used it myself for a day and decided to buy the same one for myself. I don’t play games, I’m not fond of mobile photography either, and for everyday tasks this smartphone is enough for the eyes.

Large, solid, metal body, bright screen, good antenna, does not slow down.

Flaws

Six months of use - and the sensor turned off. Glitches regardless of any external influences; here in one of the reviews below they wrote that it is buggy when charging, and so it is completely different for me. It just randomly starts to "intercept control" - someone seems to move his finger along the bottom of the screen - turns on the camera, opens the browser, calls someone ... The phone was not dropped, not hit, used carefully, in a case and with a protective glass. The ASC threw up their hands, they offer to change the screen. But why the hell if everything is new and whole? In short, I don't know what to do with this phone now; apparently, you have to take a new xiaomi, and put this one on the shelf.

Flaws

the camera is not important, the phone is quiet (my wife's Samsung j7 neo is twice as loud), there is enough charge for a day and a half (I do not play) there is clearly not 5000

Commentary

I wanted a long-liver with NFC and as cheap as possible. I took a share in the citylink for 7 thousand. Autonomy disappointed - with very active use, it is guaranteed only for a day, I expected more.

Experience of use: several months

Dignity

Incredibly, I managed to grab the phone for 6970 .... Thanks to Yandex Market. The phone is great. All the advantages are described by others, I will not repeat. How do I like NFC .. oooh? !!! And a fingerprint scanner. And the legendary reception of networks and satellites, even from the dungeon. Because, my children, this is Motorola ...! By the way, I am writing a review from this phone.

Flaws

No. Well, if only headphones .... You need to make bomb headphones with the Motorola logo. It will be awesome.

Commentary

The phone can be intimidating with its initial behavior. Namely, it will start downloading gigabyte updates. And go crazy after that. After that, it must be reset to the factory settings and everything will be tip-top. The battery swings for three days and goes to the factory settings. And these parameters will please you very much. For NFC, you don't need to download anything, just register the card with Google Pay.

Motorola e4 plus I liked it flawlessly does not bug almost doesn’t think if the Internet is good and even so cool device the battery is generally a bomb compared to the old Nokia Lumiya 630 if you don’t surf the Internet for three or four days it’s enough and even though I don’t turn off bluetooth at all. Nokia and a day and a half nezhil not a motorola cool device

Flaws

The sound on Motorola is rather weak, I have Nokia Lumiya 630, the old sound is much louder than here on Motorola, if the sound would be clocked, it would be generally cool or maybe some firmware or something else that would add a good sound to the headphones and through the speaker the sound is so-so rather weak waiting, maybe someone will tell you something and I can’t pick up a car charge to it, maybe because of the large volume of the battery, charging 2.4 Amperes per hour doesn’t charge by one percent or the amperage is weak, you have to charge it through the radio tape recorder sometimes well, that's all

Commentary

Flaws

Cameras (but for such a price they shoot, okay). The main problem appeared a month later: from time to time nothing happens when trying to wake up the phone. The screen starts blinking black and that's it. Hard reset helps.

Capacious battery, USB modem mode, "tenacious" mobile Internet, lack of Chinese-Korean "it is not clear what" .... by default: when you enter the main screen, the desktop opens, and not the list of contacts .... at 100 % Charge shows online video for 12 hours continuously (sound is on via Bluetooth) + at the same time it exchanges files from a PC without video "brakes" and copying .... Brightness + Color + Sound - very satisfied with the quality.

Flaws

lack of a "native cover" in the package.

Commentary

I bought it because of the capacious battery to replace the "Chinese" ZOPO 951 SPEED 7 Plus (I have been using it with pleasure for more than 2.5 years). The performance characteristics of both are almost equal, but Motorola is noticeably superior in performance and convenience, and most importantly, it is really "Long Playing". Charging from 2% to 100% takes 3 hours. Got rid of the intrusive Google Voice Control by installing the Nova Launcher shell. I didn’t set up the finger scanner (not interesting) ... I didn’t try games (not interesting) .... It’s very pleasant to read: 1280p does not irritate the eyes, unlike 1920p screens - therefore, “computer glasses” are not needed. I am very pleased with the choice !!!

Experience of use: less than a month

Dignity

I bought it less than a month ago. Pros are the screen is large, stable connection, more or less eats up the battery when I'm on the Internet. And probably the fact that there are no stupid triple applications.

Flaws

1 it is the fading of the screen, before this digma there was a phone so the screen there is many times brighter. 2 did not justify the battery - only 16 hours for an Internet is not enough. 3 sound through the headphones is very quiet, I had to install a third-party application to amplify the sound.

Motorola is back on the market with a new Moto E4 Plus that goes beyond the basics of the class, with a big battery, nice design and good performance at an affordable price.

Battery life plays a big role when buying a new phone. For a price of $ 250 (14,000 rubles), Motorola offers the E4 Plus smartphone, which can work without recharging for at least two days.

The Moto E4 Plus, thanks to its metal body, feels stronger, heavier and more expensive than its cheaper siblings. Motorola has managed to fit a large battery into the case without disfiguring the design. The back panel is nicely curved and the phone fits comfortably in the hand.

The bottom of the phone houses a speaker and a micro USB port. At the top there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The power key and the volume rocker are placed on the right side. There is a fingerprint scanner on the front panel, with which you can not only quickly unlock the phone, but also conveniently manage it.

The fingerprint scanner on the E4 Plus is a big plus for this phone, as a quick and easy way to unlock the gadget. The back panel is removable, under it there is a battery and two slots: for SIM-cards and MicroSD. Removing the battery is difficult, so replacing the SIM or memory card will not be easy. Although you are unlikely to do this regularly.

The design of the Moto E4 Plus is certainly not perfect, but considering the price, it is much better than the earlier E3 model with a plastic case.

IPS display

The Moto E4 Plus display is based on a 5.5-inch IPS-matrix with a resolution of 1280 × 720 and a density of 267 ppi. The lack of a FullHD display is a bit of a disappointment considering the Moto G4 or G4 Plus are similarly priced with a Full HD display.

If high resolution is not a big deal for you, the E4 Plus's screen is just fine for comfortable use of applications and watching videos.

Moto's E4 Plus also features the Moto Display feature that was previously only found on premium Moto devices. This feature allows you to view and interact with notifications on your lock screen even if it is off.

In general, the Moto E4 Plus screen is not bad and corresponds to its price segment. In addition, its low resolution reduces stress on the battery, which contributes to the excellent battery life of the Moto E4 Plus.

Big battery

One of the good things about the E4 Plus is the 5000mAh battery that can last two days on a single charge. This makes it a strong competitor, although battery life is highly dependent on phone use and settings.

The Moto E4 Plus's battery only powers an energy efficient processor and a 720p screen, so it has good battery life, which is a key feature.

To quickly charge your smartphone, you need to use the special 10W charger included in the package. Typically, a battery of this size takes a long time to fully charge, but thanks to the fast charge function, it only takes two hours. An out-of-the-box charger can provide you with a few extra hours of phone use in just 30 minutes of mains power!

Moto E4 Plus camera

The Moto E4 Plus has a 13MP main camera with LED flash and f / 2.0 aperture. The camera performance is good, and photos taken in high light are sharp and detailed. Colors are just as accurate and not oversaturated as on most smartphones.

In low light, the E4 Plus's rear camera has the same effects as other phones: noise increases and quality decreases. Even HDR is useless under these conditions.

The Moto E4 Plus has a 5MP front camera with f / 2.2 aperture. Its results are not very impressive. Even in good lighting, the photos come out a little washed out. You shouldn't buy this gadget specifically for selfies, as the functions are limited here.

Smartphone performance

The hardware of the budget Moto E4 Plus is built around a 4-core MediaTek MT6737 processor with Mali-T720MP1 graphics and 3 GB of RAM. The phone does not break records in games, but it copes perfectly with everyday loads, like social networks, instant messengers and YouTube videos.

All the applications I installed were running smoothly, but running multiple applications at the same time slows down noticeably. If you are looking for a gaming phone, you should look for the one with the best specs.

The E4 Plus is offered in versions with 16 or 32 GB of internal storage. The 32GB model gives you much more space for your files. But, if you don't tend to overload your phone, 16 GB is enough.

I tested the 16 GB version and before adding my own apps I found that there was not much free space, only 10 GB was available to me. The remaining 6 GB was occupied by software. However, both versions support microSD cards for up to 128GB capacity.

Almost pure Android

A distinctive feature of any Motorola smartphone is the presence of an almost clean version of the Android OS with minimal changes, the absence of pre-installed applications and timely updates.

The Moto E4 Plus software is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with some Motorola additions, including Moto Actions. The E4 Plus is known to update to Android O. It is not known how quickly this will happen, so I recommend choosing the Moto G5 or Moto Z2 Play if you are looking for a phone with the best updates.

Compare Moto E4 Plus vs Moto E4 and Moto G5

Compared to Moto E4

Compared to the Moto E4 Plus, the Moto E4 version has a smaller screen and weak battery, but it is much easier to handle and comes with similar features for a lesser price. If you're looking to save some money, the E4 is fine.

Compared to Moto G5

The Moto G5 is the more expensive and one of the most beloved phones in the world. It has a 5-inch Full HD display and a more powerful processor, but doesn't have the same powerful battery as the Moto E4 Plus.

Outcome

Motorola is trying to dominate the mid-range smartphone space with its E4 and E4 Plus. Although the Moto E4 Plus is an inexpensive model, the gadget looks, feels, and works like a more expensive phone. It comes with better battery life than its cheaper Moto E4 sibling or the more expensive Moto G5.

If you're after a powerful phone with a Full HD screen, the G5 is the better choice, although it's a bit more expensive. However, if your main focus is on the battery, the E4 Plus smartphone Moto has created for you.

The Moto E4 Plus Advantage

  • Bright display with accurate colors.
  • Clean software.
  • MicroSD card support.
  • Robust construction.
  • Big battery.

Disadvantages of the E4 Plus

  • Poor multitasking.
  • Screen resolution 720p.
  • Relatively heavy gadget.

Inexpensive and durable phone Moto E4 Plus - video review

If you find an error, the video does not work, please select a piece of text and click Ctrl + Enter.

We continue to get acquainted with the current Moto smartphones and today we will tell you about the new E4. In the current lineup, it occupies one of the lowest positions - it is easier only Moto C and C Plus, cooler - E4 Plus, two versions of Moto G5, Z2 Play, Z2 Force and Z. The price of 4495 hryvnia also hints that we have one of simple apparatus. Let's see what he's capable of.

Equipment

The company remains true to tradition and does not waste resources, which is why the smartphone comes in a simple but bright cardboard box. Inside there is a charger (5V / 1A), a cable, a simple headset and documentation.

Design

Moto fans may find the brand new E4 looks familiar, and in many ways they would be right. The smartphone is very similar to the more expensive G5 - it differs in lines on the back cover, but in general it offers the same collapsible design with a removable battery, the same arrangement of connectors and controls, comparable ergonomics.

It looks good, well built, available in three body colors (gray, blue and gold). Exclusively in terms of appearance and body materials, it is in no way inferior to the regular Moto G5.

There is a fingerprint scanner under the screen; if you wish, you can use it as the only touch control key, block the device with it. The sensor works acceptable - worse than in older Moto devices, it often does not work the first time.

Moto Display and "chips"

Like the rest of the current Moto, the smartphone does not have an indicator of missed events - it is replaced by the Moto Display function. When you pick up the device or receive a notification, the screen lights up. You can find out the time, date, battery charge, see the icons of applications from which there are notifications. In practice, the function is very convenient, although its implementation is simpler than in flagships - it looks even better on Super AMOLED, plus Moto Z / Z Play has sensors on the front panel that activate the display when you bring your palm up.

This is where the unique features end - the Moto E4 allows you to quickly launch the camera by double-pressing the power button, but the ability to do the same by turning your wrist or turning on the flashlight with a “chopping” motion is impossible. Apparently, everything rests on the platform's features - a chip from MediaTek is used here, and not Qualcomm, as in the rest of the Moto.

Display

The E-series has always been perceived as a simplified G-series - this concerned most of the characteristics, including the display. The Moto E4 is no exception. The device tries to boast of a 5-inch matrix with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The brightness varies from 5 to 383 cd / m², the measured contrast is 1 to 813. From the point of view of basic parameters, the screen has no problems. It remains readable in the sun, there is an average quality oleophobic coating, and the color accuracy is at an acceptable level.

But this does not negate the fact that the screen is budget, it is far from the characteristics of "good". In particular, this manifests itself in color distortions at diagonal viewing angles - it is rather strange to see such "features" in 2017, even in a conventionally budget smartphone.

Hardware platform

In the case of Moto E4, you need to rely not only on the average screen, but also on the not the most productive platform - the quad-core SoC MediaTek MT6737. It is complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, to which you can add a memory card for which a separate slot is provided.

Although the smartphone runs pure Android 7.1.1, I cannot call its operating speed comfortable, especially considering the price. The device is unhurried. Of course, everything is not so bad that there is a desire to smash it against the wall due to constant brakes, but the difference with the same Moto G5, not to mention the G5 Plus, is noticeable. This applies to literally everything - it seems that the fingerprint scanner works slowly, applications start at an average speed, games run with occasional jams, HD videos at 50 fps on YouTube play smoothly, and 60 fps can already slow down.

In general, it seems that every action is accompanied by a kind of micro-lag, and this should not be so. Plus, there are obvious standard limitations for such smartphones - no fast charging, support for Wi-Fi 5 GHz, NFC, an outdated 28 nm process technology.

If MediaTek and Qualcomm now do not have adequate solutions for the budget segment, then perhaps companies should choose more productive SoCs, and show the budget only with design, screen and cameras, as do the same Xiaomi and Meizu? Indeed, in 2017, a device for almost $ 200 should guarantee at least normal operating speed.

Working hours

The capacity of the Moto E4's removable battery is 2800 mAh. Taking into account not the most productive platform, the battery allows you to count on a confident day of work at medium-high load with 5 hours of active display. The result cannot be called outstanding for this segment, but it fully corresponds to the declared technical characteristics.

Sound

The Moto E4 has a fairly loud main speaker, but it doesn't boast outstanding quality. The speaker is normal, but if the subscriber speaks softly, and you are in a noisy environment, then the volume may not be enough for a comfortable conversation. From the point of view of music sounding when using headphones, the device is no different from other budget devices.

Software platform

The E4 runs stock Android 7.1.1 - the company has added Active Display, round icons for standard apps, and the ability to use a scanner instead of on-screen control keys.

As with the rest of the Moto, the clean system is pleasing to the eye, but on the E4 I ran into a problem with some "emergency notifications" that I couldn't solve after a few days of use. Perhaps the appearance of such messages depends on the operator whose services you use (I myself sin on Vodafone).

Cameras

The smartphone is equipped with two cameras. The main one has a resolution of 8 megapixels, is equipped with autofocus and flash. Front 5 megapixel, also with flash. The interface of the Camera app is comparable to that of other Moto.

If we talk about the quality of shooting, then viewing the photos taken leaves impressions similar to the screen and hardware - we have a device with weak cameras in front of us and there is nothing more to tell about them. Even in good shooting conditions, you cannot count on one hundred percent result, except in the studio.

Site score

Pros: design, "pure" Android 7.1.1, Moto Display, separate slots for SIM / MicroSD

Minuses: price, speed, cameras, limited functionality of add-ons from Moto

Conclusion: Since the release of the first Moto G, Motorola has consistently taught that a good smartphone doesn't have to be expensive. The idea was that in any line it was possible to maintain a balance of characteristics, price and overall quality. Moreover, Moto was able to do it. But E4 is the exception to the rule. At the start of sales, the cost of the model looks overpriced, the smartphone can only boast of a good appearance. Everything else is mediocre specs, screen, cameras and performance. Even in spite of the fact that, on the whole, I personally prefer "branded" devices and think that it is better to buy a more expensive and obviously better device, E4 confirms another rule. If the budget for the purchase of a smartphone is limited to 4-5 thousand hryvnia, then it is wiser to look either at last year's models from “brands”, the price of which has dropped dramatically, or to choose something from Xiaomi / Meizu. Well, the fresh Moto E4 in this hit parade looks like another pass-through solution that will not interest an attentive buyer.
