Book arrangement of the sheet. How to make one page landscape in Word and another portrait

Page orientation in Microsoft Word is how it is positioned: horizontally or vertically. The last option is also called "Book" and is considered standard, that is, it is the default. So, when we open a new document, the sheets in it are always arranged vertically.

And why do you need a different position of the pages that resemble album sheets? People usually find out how to make landscape orientation for one page in a Word before preparing a report, article or presentation. This is convenient, because it is precisely by rotating the sheet that you can fit a large picture, table or diagram on it.

Here's an example when the album sheet is at the beginning of the article:

Sketch sheet at the beginning of the document

It contains a high-resolution picture, that is, a large size. Its location is horizontal, so it simply would not fit on a vertical sheet.

How to change the position of pages in Microsoft Word?

To rotate all pages of a document, follow these steps:

  • Open the document you need in Word 2016 by clicking twice in a row with the left mouse button on the file.
  • Find the Layout tab on the top toolbar and click on it.

Attention! In earlier versions of Microsoft Word, the topic is not called Layout, but Page Layout.

  • Click on the second icon called "Orientation" - it is located immediately after the icon called "Fields".
  • In the "Orientation" section, the default is "Portrait". Click the Landscape icon instead.

Change sheet orientation

Everything would be fine, but now all the pages of the document look like sheets from a sketchbook. If you do not need to rotate all the sheets, then read on.

How to rotate one page in Microsoft Word?

It often happens that you only need to rotate 1 sheet (for example, at the beginning of the document, in the middle of the text, or at the end to show something voluminous, wide).

To unfold one sheet rather than the entire document, do this. Select the text on the page you want to change the orientation.

To select text, the procedure is as follows:

  • put the pointer at the beginning of the line;
  • hold down the left mouse button;
  • without releasing the left mouse button, move the cursor (pointer) over the text to the very end of the page.

After highlighting, do the following:

  • Above, on the toolbar, go to the section called "Layout" (or "Page Layout" in older versions of Microsoft Word 2010 and 2013).
  • Select "Fields", and then, at the very bottom of the menu that opens, click on "Custom Fields".
Opening the window for editing page parameters
  • In the window that appears, change the orientation from portrait to landscape. In the Sample section, there is the word Apply. Click on the drop-down button next to it and select not "To the whole document", but "To selected text." The last action is to click on the "OK" button.
Setting page parameters

This way, you can select text anywhere else in the document. Changing the page format in a large text document can be applied multiple times.

How do I view multiple pages on a screen?

To see what multiple sheets will look like, follow these steps:

  • click on the "View" tab on the top toolbar;
  • select a mode called "Multiple Pages".

There is another way:

  • find the page scale in the lower right corner;
  • click on the slider with the left mouse button and drag to the left.

The pages are zoomed out and you can see how multiple sheets look at once.

Changing the scale of pages

It is possible to complete an article or report with a scrapbook sheet. This page position can be used for wide, schematic applications.

That's all! Now you can turn pages. Good luck in job!

How to make a landscape sheet in a Word?

Today, continuing to study the word text editor, we will look at how to make an album sheet in it. By default, all pages in the editor are in portrait format. Thus, they are oriented as if we were writing on a regular sheet of paper, only not with a pen or pencil, but using a computer keyboard.

Sometimes there are situations when the volume and size of the text does not allow it to fit on a sheet of portrait orientation. For this case, an option is provided to turn pages into landscape view.

In this article, we will talk about how to make a landscape format out of a portrait format, or for the entire document, or only for individual pages. As usual, let's look at a few examples of creating a landscape sheet. And at the end there will be a short video.

Making an album sheet among the books in Word 2003 for one page

It is not difficult to create a landscape view in Word 2003, especially if you give this look to the entire document. To do this, open the "File" tab in the main menu and find the "Page settings" line there.

In the window that opens, select in the "Orientation" section - "Landscape". It is also shown as an icon in the form of a landscape sheet. And click "OK".

As a result of this operation, all pages in the document became landscape. But this is if it is necessary to turn over all the sheets. What if we only need one album sheet? For this purpose, we will use the "Page Break" operation. We set the cursor at the end of the page after which the album sheet will go. Next, in the "Insert" menu we find the line "Break".

In the window that opens, select "From the next page" and click "OK".

Now we go to the page we need and convert it to landscape view with the already familiar operation: "File - Page settings - Landscape view". As a result, we get the following:

How to make album sheets in Word 2007 only one page?

Changing the portrait orientation to landscape in the 2007 version is done in a similar way, only the layout of the tabs and menus is somewhat different than in 2003. Here we will only need the main panel and the “Page Layout” tab on it. Having opened this tab, we need to find an icon with the name "Orientation", clicking on which will open a menu with the options "Portrait" and "Landscape".

By clicking on the "Landscape" button, all pages will assume this orientation. But, again, we only need one sheet of landscape view. Here, to perform this operation, we will again use the page break function. In the new versions of the Word, unlike the old ones, when working with breaks, you can display non-printable characters to make it easier to work. We enable this function in the feed:

Now let's move on to the gaps. In the "Page Layout" tab, find "Breaks" and select the line "Section Breaks" - "Next Page".

Now we place the cursor on the page that needs to be oriented as landscape and do as described above. As a result, we get only one landscape page.

Making a landscape sheet in a 2010 Word for several pages

It is not difficult to create a landscape sheet for several pages in Word 2010. As already mentioned, the general algorithm for solving this problem is as follows: Turn on the "Page Layout" - "Orientation" - "Landscape" mode.

However, this action results in landscape pages being generated for the entire document. If we need to make only one page, then we do it through the formation of breaks. We put the cursor at the end of the sheet, open again “Page Layout” - “Breaks” and there we select “Section Breaks” - “Next Page”. After that, we place the cursor on the page that needs to be made landscape and apply the algorithm described above. The page has become a landscape page.

However, if there are more pages after it, they also became landscape pages. You can return them back to the book version according to the same scheme, only instead of the landscape one, we select "Book". And how to arrange album pages between book pages? Yes, everything follows the same pattern. You just have to work a little more.

We set up the landscape page as usual. We return all the pages following it back to the book format. Next, we make the next page landscape again, again return the following ones and become landscape pages to the book page, etc., until we create the required number of album and book pages. As a result, we get such a document from alternating album-book sheets.

Let's summarize:

  1. We put the cursor at the end of the sheet, open “Page Layout” - “Breaks” and there we select section breaks - “Next Page”.

  2. We put the cursor on the formatted page. Page Layout - Orientation - Landscape.

  3. We remove all subsequent album pages. We put the cursor at the end of the sheet, open “Page Layout” - “Breaks” and there we select section breaks - “Next Page”. And - "Page Layout" - "Orientation" - "Book".

To quickly switch to the page layout mode in Word versions from 2007-2016, you can use the icons in the lower right corner of the screen:

We do the same for the next album page. And we do it until we set the required number of album and book pages.

We get one landscape sheet, and the rest of the book pages in Word 2013-2016

Installing pages in newer versions of the Word is similar to the previous ones, only the user interface will look slightly different. Here we need a tab called "Layout". Here we find "Page settings", then "Orientation" and here we already select the "landscape" button.

By clicking on it, we get ready-made album sheets for the entire document. If you need to make landscape only a few individual pages (or just one), then everything is much easier here. First of all, select the text on the pages that need to be expanded. Then again visit the "Layout" tab and the "Page settings" section. A window will open in front of us where you need to select the "Fields" tab:

Here we first select the orientation - "Landscape". Then we go to the very bottom, to the line "apply". In the drop-down menu, put "to the selected text". Click "OK", you're done. The program will automatically place the breaks itself and rotate the desired pages. I wish you success in mastering the Word editor, and at the end a short video on how to mark up album sheets.

When working in a text editor Word, the portrait orientation of the page is not always suitable. Sometimes it is necessary that the pages are like in an album, i.e. arranged horizontally.
