Kis 16 offline virus databases update. Proven ways to update kaspersky anti-virus

The popular Kaspersky antivirus reliably protects the system from various threats, but its successful operation requires constant updates. New viruses and other malicious programs appear every day, and by skipping updates to their databases, you risk that your defender will miss a "fresh" virus that will infect the entire system. To prevent this, you should be aware of the specifics of the Kaspersky update settings.

If you have just installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus, you should update it immediately, since even the latest versions of the program may come with outdated databases. After installing the antivirus, you will see the settings window, where there will be an "Update" option. Click on this button to update. In the next window, confirm the action by clicking on "Update".

Your databases have been updated. Now you need to configure the methods for updating the antivirus. To do this, in the main menu of Kaspersky, click on the "Settings" button located below. In the menu that opens, select the "Advanced" tab from the list, then click on "Update options" on the right.

In the menu that opens, mark the automatic download and installation of new versions of the program. These are not virus databases, but revised and modified antivirus modules. If you do not want to change anything, check the "Do not download new version" option.

Below are the settings for the update launch mode. They relate directly to the virus databases and therefore require special attention. You can set up automatic updates if you don't feel like fiddling with updates. If you want to keep everything under personal control, install a manual update. This can be convenient because automatic updates can start at any time and "eat up" the computer's resources at the wrong time.

You can also install the antivirus update scheduler by setting a daily or weekly check for updates. In the first case, do not forget to indicate a convenient time for such a check, in the second - also the day of the week. For example, every Monday at 20.00. Don't forget to click on "Save".

In the absence of the Internet or its slow and unstable work, you can update the anti-virus databases in a special way. To do this, download the KLUpdater utility from a computer where the Internet works normally. This can be done from the official website kaspersky.com. Unpack the archive into a folder and run the KasperskyUpdater.exe file, which will download the database updates to the Updates directory. In the program menu, select Russian for the interface. To do this, go to Settings - Service and in the language field select "Russian" from the list. From the main menu, click "Run". After the updates have finished downloading, transfer the Updates folder to a computer where there is no Internet. It remains to specify the path to this folder in the anti-virus update settings. In the main menu go to "Settings" - "Advanced" - "Update options" and click on "Configure update source". Click on "add" and specify the path to the Updates folder.

With several operating systems, I also added an anti-virus disk "Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10" to the USB flash drive, but a month has passed, which means that the anti-virus databases on the disk are outdated, respectively, the question is - how to update the anti-virus databases of this anti-virus disk or does it need to be downloaded again? The usual way to update does not work, I downloaded a laptop from the anti-virus disk of Kaspersky and pressed the "Update" button and I get an error: "Failed, no update source found". The laptop is connected to the Internet via a router via WI-FI.

How to update the anti-virus databases of the "Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10" disk using the Kaspersky Update Utility 3.0

Hello friends! If you periodically have to cure your computer or numerous computers of your friends and relatives for viruses, then you probably have a Kaspersky Anti-Virus Disk in your arsenal - "Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10", you should boot an infected computer or laptop from it, then run a scan, as it is here it will find malicious programs and neutralize them, but for the disk to work effectively, there is one condition, the anti-virus databases must be up-to-date, unfortunately, it is not always possible to update the anti-virus databases of the disk in the usual way, for example:

1. You access the Internet through your provider's VPN connection using the PPOE or L2TP protocol (Beeline, MTS, etc.), that is, enter your username and password, in this case, the network settings of the anti-virus disk will not always allow you to create such a connection.

2. You access the Internet using a router via a WI-FI wireless network. In this case, failure may await you too, since in Kaspersky Rescue Disk does not provide full support for the wireless network.

3. Many more things can happen if you use an anti-virus disk to cure an unfamiliar computer device.

Friends, in order not to bother with the network settings of the disk, you just need to download the updates on the official Kaspersky Update Utility 3.0 using the special utility Kaspersky Update Utility 3.0 and upload them to the USB flash drive, then when updating the anti-virus databases of the disk, specify the update files on the flash drive, that's all. Computer viruses are ruthless - they can easily "eat" the files you need or "hang" an unpleasant banner over the screen, or they can secretly send various spam mailings from your mail. In general, the harm from viruses is countless, and therefore every reasonable user should have an anti-virus system on his computer. Moreover, it is also necessary to regularly update its databases. In this article, we will analyze how to update Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Updating databases

To update the anti-virus databases, you need to have Internet access. Updating is pretty straightforward:

  1. Open the main window of the "Kaspersky Anti-Virus" application.
  2. Go to the "Updates" tab.
  3. Press the button "Update".
  4. Everything! No further action is required from us, the program will automatically download and install updates.

New viruses appear every day, antivirus developers try to keep up with virus creators, so database updates are released quite often. In order not to miss a moment, we recommend that you set up automatic updates. In this case, if there is a database update and access to the network, the program will do all the work for you automatically. The frequency of updates can be configured: "once a week", "once a day", etc. - choose what is more convenient for you.

We update the version

In order to install a new version of the program, do the following:

  1. Go to the official website of Kaspersky Lab - kaspersky.com
  2. Go to the "Products" section and download the required update. For example, if you are using Kaspersky Internet Security 2013, you need to download Kaspersky Internet Security 2014.
  3. Install the update, following the prompts of the installation wizard, and restart the computer.

If the key has expired

If the antivirus activation key has not expired yet, then the updated version of the antivirus will work, otherwise you will need a new activation key, otherwise you will not be able to update the databases, and the antivirus without updated databases will become completely useless in a couple of weeks. How do you get the key? There are two ways:

  1. You can purchase an activation code on the Kaspersky website, and through it you can get a key and enter it in the required field of the "License" tab of the program. This is the legal path.
  2. The second way is not entirely fair. It consists in finding working keys to Kaspersky on the Internet. At the moment, fresh keys can be found. Anyway, after installing a new key, do not forget to restart your computer.

In fact, there is also a third way - download a trial version of the antivirus. You can (and even need to) download a trial version of the anti-virus from the official Kaspersky Lab website. The trial versions are absolutely free, however, they are somewhat limited in functionality and only work for 30 days. You can download them from this site.

By the way, no one bothers you to use trial versions of another antivirus after the end of the month. Many people do this, changing one program to another.

Unlike ESET Nod 32 Smart Security, Kaspersky Anti-Virus is updated only with a valid license and an active Internet connection. If the user has not had access to the Internet for a long time, the anti-virus databases become outdated and the system may be endangered. Therefore, it is worth updating your antivirus regularly. There are several ways to do this: automatic updates and manual ones.

Automatic update of Kaspersky antivirus?

In order to start automatic updating of Kaspersky anti-virus databases, you should perform a number of simple steps:

  • Right-click on the antivirus icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select "Update".
  • Alternatively, you can double-click to open the main program window and click "Update".

  • A new window will open. It will display the process of updating the databases.

It should be noted that during the update, not only the anti-virus databases are loaded, but also program modules that eliminate the product's vulnerability to new viruses and potentially dangerous applications.

Manual update of Kaspersky without network connection

Many users believe that routine copying of current Kaspersky databases from another computer can help update the databases and application modules. However, this method does not work.

The developers of the antivirus itself have released a special program for their users, who are unable to update the program via the network, - Kaspersky Update Utility. This utility allows you to update your antivirus without a LAN connection. It works as follows.

  • Download the archive. We unpack the files into a separate folder. You can not unpack, but run the file through Total Commander.

  • Run UpdateUtility-Gui.exe.

  • A window will open. Click on the "Programs" button.

  • A list of products will appear. We choose our version of the antivirus. We press "OK".

  • In the next window, click on the "Options" button.

  • On the new window, you need to go to the "Download" section and select a folder to download updates and a temporary folder. We press "OK".
  • After specifying the location where it is worth downloading the updated anti-virus databases, click the "Run" button.

  • After the databases are loaded, a subfolder named "Updates" will appear in the folder.
  • Now copy this subfolder and transfer it to the USB stick. We connect it to a PC that does not have an update and specify the path to this folder in the antivirus settings.

  • Then we press "Update". The anti-virus will update the databases and modules. PC protection will be guaranteed.

You can watch how to update the antivirus in the video from the program developers:

Recently, Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KIS) has started sending messages about the expiration of the license. I bought a new license and received an activation code by mail. Until today, I used the 2013 version, but decided to upgrade to the new version. I have used KIS 2013 for more than 1.5 years and I can say the following about it:

  • Reliable antivirus that didn't let me down. Since I use various payment systems (Sberbank Online, Yandex.Money, WebMoney), it is relevant for me;
  • During use, there was a specific glitch when working with Windows 7 - when archiving, unpacking or copying large files, the process hung. I could not clear the task using the task manager (started by pressing the (Ctrl + Alt + Del) keys, I had to restart the computer. The situation was resolved after updating either Windows or the antivirus, I could not say for sure;
  • I don’t know how on weak computers and laptops, but Kaspersky 2013 did not bother me too much.

Today we will figure out how to update Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 and enter the application activation code.

KIS antivirus update

If you plan to renew your license for Kaspersky Anti-Virus, do not delete the old license. The fact is that by extending KIS, we receive a discount that reaches 35%.

Attention! Do not delete the information about the current license before installing the new version of the product, it will be required to activate the renewal license.

Step 1. Download Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 for Windows from the download page of the official Kaspersky Lab website.

Step 2. Run the downloaded file and give permission to install.

After a warning from the Windows security system, we give permission to install a new version of the antivirus by clicking on the "Run" button

To complete the installation, you need to restart your computer.

It is advisable to immediately reboot the computer, since until the PC is restarted it will work without the protection of the antivirus program: the old version no longer works, and the installation of the new one has not been completed.

To complete the installation of the antivirus, click on the "Finish and reinstall" button

After the reboot, the new version of Kaspersky is completely ready for work. Since KIS 2014 was installed on top of KIS 2013, the license information has been saved.

Please note that the information about the old license for the antivirus has been saved. Two days left until the license expires

Now it remains to enter the purchased activation code for Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

How to enter an activation code

To enter the activation code for Kaspersky 2014, you need to take several steps.

Step 2. In the window that appears, click on the "Enter activation code" button.

Click on the button "Enter activation code"

Step 3. Enter the activation code (you can simply copy it to the clipboard and paste it into the first field) and click "Activate".

Enter the code received after purchasing the antivirus license and click on the "Activate" button

Step 4. Click on the "Finish" button.

Click on the "Finish" button

Since my old key is still active, KIS informs me about it.

You should not activate the new (backup) code if the old key is in working order. After the expiration of the old key, the program will be automatically activated with the new code.

You should not activate the new code if the validity period of the old key has not expired

If you click on the "Activate now" button, then the new code will be immediately activated and the countdown will start 365 days.

What to do if you cannot activate Kaspersky

It happens that when trying to activate an application, Kaspersky writes "Invalid activation code".

Incorrect activation code message

There are two possible reasons why Kaspersky Anti-Virus cannot be activated:

  1. A banal reason - the code was really entered incorrectly.
  2. Too little time has passed since the purchase of the anti-virus and the code has not been activated on the Kaspersky Lab server. In this case, you need to wait a little and try to activate again.

If you are unable to activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus even after a long time after purchasing the license, the problem must be solved through your personal account.

If you still have questions about updating the KIS version and activating the application, ask them in the comments.
