For Windows 7, FAR and its closest brother File Navigator are also very similar to Norton Commander. And this applies not only to the same two panels, but also to the fill color of the main windows, which is why the interface looks exactly the way it once was in DOS.
What is interesting about them? In principle, the functional set very much resembles what was described for previous programs, but there are some nuances. For example, the file manager for Windows 7 called FAR is very convenient in terms of command line support. Plug-ins for games or for working with external archivers look pretty good, sorting objects with highlighting by color for certain types or instant FTP access.

Before us is another program, which is a kind of hybrid of the above commanders and the classic "Explorer". For him, however, the crack needs to be installed separately.
The main actions do not differ much from other applications, but the built-in viewer for video or graphics and listening to audio deserves special attention, the presence of a built-in video protocol loader from YouTube hosting, support for exporting data to CSV format, implementation custom commands etc.
What to choose?
And what is the best file manager for Windows 7? Alas, it is rather difficult to answer this question, although with a high degree of probability (based on user feedback) it can be argued that Total Commander is still the first on the list. Its analogues, although very similar to it, are in most cases somewhat inferior in functionality. But for multimedia lovers, XYplorer Free can be advised, since its toolkit is just for this purpose. However, the choice is up to the user himself, and imposing something for his own needs is an absolutely thankless task, especially since it all depends on which program features may be required in a particular case.
