Rounded corners in the photo look quite interesting and attractive. Most often, such images are used when compiling collages or creating presentations. Also, pictures with rounded corners can be used as thumbnails for posts on the site.
There are many use cases, and there is only one (correct) way to get such a photo. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to round corners in Photoshop.
Open the photo you want to edit in Photoshop.
Then create a copy of the waterfall layer called "Background". Use hotkeys to save time CTRL+J.
A copy is created in order to leave the original image intact. If (suddenly) something goes wrong, you can delete the failed layers and start over.
In this case, we are only interested in one of the settings - the rounding radius. The value of this parameter depends on the image size and needs.
I'll set the value to 30px so you can see the result better.
Now you need to stretch the resulting shape to the entire canvas. Calling a function "Free Transform" hot keys CTRL+T. A frame will appear on the shape, with which you can move, rotate, and resize the object.
We are interested in scaling. Stretch the shape using the markers shown in the screenshot. After scaling is complete, press ENTER.
Tip: in order to scale as accurately as possible, that is, without going beyond the canvas, you must enable the so-called "Snap" Look at the screenshot, it shows where this function is located.
The function causes objects to automatically "Stick" to auxiliary elements and borders of the canvas.
As you can see, a selection has formed around the shape. Now go to the copy layer, and remove the visibility from the layer with the figure (see screenshot).
The waterfall layer is now active and ready to be edited. Editing is to remove excess from the corners of the picture.
Invert selection with hotkeys CTRL+SHIFT+I. Now the selection remains only on the corners.
I have been looking for a long time how to round the corners using Adobe Photoshop, but everywhere they don’t finish writing somewhere, or it’s written incorrectly. As it turned out, rounding the corners of any picture will take no more than 30 seconds, of course, after you learn how to do it.
And so, in order to perform such a simple operation, you need to run the application and drop the picture we need inside the program, or use Menu->File->Open->Desired picture.jpg. I will use the usual image of nature.
Pay attention to the lower right corner, a background image has appeared in the "Layers", it must be converted to a layer. To do this, right-click on the background and select "Layer from background".
As a result of this action, our background will be converted into a layer.
Create a duplicate image by right-clicking on Layer 0 and selecting "Duplicate Layer".

Hide "Layer 0" from the workspace. To hide a layer, click the EYE icon next to the layer name.
Select the desired part of the image.
As soon as you have marked the desired part of the picture with a rectangle, right-click inside the selection and select "Generate Selection".
In the dialog box, press the OK button, do not touch the feathering.
A very important point! Select Layer 0 (Copy), then press the DELETE button on the keyboard. Layer 0 (copy) should be selected with a normal mouse click.
If everything is done correctly, in Photoshop you will see something like this picture. Now you can save the image, for example, in png format, and enjoy the work of art.
There is one more thing, if the cut piece is two or even 3 times smaller than the original image, it will have a large empty area, it must be deleted. To do this, select the nesting tool, and select an area of the image without an empty area.
Then go to the menu Edit->Copy.
Go to the menu File->New, and just click OK. The program will automatically adjust the width and height of the canvas of the selected area of the image.
In the new project "Untitled 1", and we will automatically find ourselves in it, go to the Edit->Insert menu.
The best way to save an image is to use the "Save for Web" option. Firstly, you can manually select the image quality as a percentage, and secondly, the image size will be several times smaller than if you save it in the usual way.

For those who do not understand how I managed to round the corners, I specially recorded a video that will help you with this simple task.
In this short article, we'll look at example of creating a "thin" frame in Photoshop with a thickness of 1 - 2 pixels with rounded edges. These frames (and their fragments) are widely used by designers and webmasters when laying out layouts and creating templates for websites. They are used to frame articles, menus, buttons, etc.
So let's get started:
1. Let's create a new document (Top menu "File" - "New") with dimensions, for example, 500 by 500 pixels. Background content: transparent.
2. Go to the Toolbar (located on the left), select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M). On our document we draw a rectangular area. Rectangular marquee tool options: New Selection, Feather: 0 px, Style: Normal (Fig. 1) .
3. In the top menu, select the tab "Selection" - "Modification" - "Optimize" (Fig. 2). Let's take the radius value, for example, equal to 20 pixels. Click "Yes". We see that the corners of our selected rectangle are rounded by the value of the selected value (20 pixels) (Fig. 3) .
4. In the top menu, select "Edit" - "Stroke". Set the stroke options. Width: 2px (for clarity). Let's take some red color. In the same tab, set: "Position relative to the border: center (you can choose the values "inside" and "outside")", "Overlay: Normal mode", "Opacity: 100%", "Keep transparency: empty". Click the "Yes" button (Fig. 4). Remove the selection - by pressing the key combination on the keyboard "Ctrl + D" and get the frame we need, 2 pixels thick, red with rounded edges (Fig. 5). Now its fragments or the whole frame can be used to decorate any template, banner, etc.

For an example, and better visualization, I created a new layer filled with white, moved it below the layer with our frame and created several more similar frames with blurred thickness, colors and rounded corners (Fig. 6).

Go to menu Filter > Blur(Filter > Blur) and select Gaussian blur(Gaussian Blur). The blur radius will depend on the size of your image and the result you would like to achieve. I'll choose a radius of 5 pixels.

Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the layer thumbnail to activate the image selection. Next, go to the menu Selection and choose Refine Edge(Select > Refine Edge). You can experiment with the options Smoothing(Smooth) and Feathers(Feather) to select the desired effect. Contrast(Contrast) make it 100.
Step 5
Take the color of the shape, in our case it is yellow and fill the entire selection with this color. You can do this by pressing the key combination "Shift + F5".
Step 6
Without removing the selection, you must add a layer mask by clicking on the icon located at the bottom of the layers palette. That's it, now the star has rounded corners.
You can use the same method to create text with rounded corners, as shown in the image below. Now you can come up with your own font.
