How to install the operator icon on the desktop. How to add a shortcut to the desktop

I have Windows 8.1 installed on my laptop. I installed the program, but I don’t know where to start it from, then I connected the scanner and installed the driver on it, and now I can’t figure out how to add a scanner shortcut to the desktop, but I need to launch the scanner and work with it. No, I can’t imagine how to get to all the programs in general. Okay, people suggested that you first need to enter the initial screen of the Metro interface and launch all applications from there, but it's inconvenient, all the time to climb into the Metro interface to launch any program. Tell me, is there a way to add a Windows 8 application shortcut to the desktop and launch the desired program from the shortcut.

How to add a shortcut to the desktop

Hello friends. I'll show you three ways to create a desktop shortcut!

a list of programs will open, then right-click once on the folder of the program we need and go to this folder, select the program icon and right-click on it, a menu will open in which you need to select the Send item, a submenu will open, select Desktop (create label).

Everything, the shortcut of the program we need is on the desktop.

Do not forget the fact that when it is installed on a computer, any program asks you - dear User (User), can I add a shortcut to your desktop? So, if you allow it, the program will immediately add its shortcut to your desktop.

If, when installing the program, you missed this moment (it often happens with me), then we act like this.
We click the mouse in the lower left corner and get into the "Metro" interface,

Click on the arrow

And we enter the "All Applications" window, find the icon of the program we need and right-click on it, a menu will open, in it you need to select "Open file location",

We right-click on the file and select Send, a submenu will open, in it select Desktop (create shortcut)

And our shortcut is already on the desktop.

If you select "Pin to Start Screen" from this menu,

The shortcut will be added to the Metro interface home screen.

Another way to add a shortcut to the desktop

Friends, let's create a toolbar and use it to add a shortcut to the program we need on the desktop. Right-click on the taskbar and select Panels-->Create Toolbar,

in the window that appears "New Toolbar - Select Folder", select the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder and click on the Select Folder button.

Today we will tell and show how easy and simple it is to create a shortcut to the Android desktop, and below we will write how to remove it.
The desktop in Android is the place where we get after unlocking the screen. Usually it consists of several erans, which are switched by “swipe” - by flipping a finger left or right. Just there we have applications, programs and games for quick access to them and launch. You can find other installed programs by pressing the "menu" button on your device.

How to create a shortcut on the Android desktop

Now every child has his own gadget and they have been with him for a long time right after buying the device. However, for others, this information will be useful. So, in order to bring any shortcut of the game or program to the desktop, we will do the following.

The steps are similar for Android devices with an operating system up to version 6.

  • We press the button "All applications" - its icon is a circle with three dots.
  • Select the desired application, game or program and pinch your finger on it.
  • The screen will collapse and our desktop will appear. Select the position of the icon and release your finger.
  • To select the desired desktop screen, if there are several of them, drag your finger with the shortcut to the left or right corner of the screen, they will begin to scroll.
  • If a lot of icons have accumulated, you can combine them into folders or delete unused ones.

Missing shortcut on Android how to restore

The icon can disappear in several cases: you accidentally deleted it, for example, when you took your smartphone out of your pocket. The icon could be “spread” by dragging it to another screen. Or you simply deleted the application itself - thus the launch shortcut from the desktop disappeared. To restore the icon on the desktop, follow the steps described above.

How to remove shortcuts on Android

If you do not have enough space for shortcuts, there are several ways out: create a new screen, group several icons into folders (for example, create folders with games, social networks and programs separately), or delete an unnecessary application.

  • Open the desktop, scroll to the desired screen with an icon.
  • We pinch a finger on an unnecessary application. The icon will hang “in the air” or start to tremble (visual effects are different on smartphones).
  • At the top of the screen, the inscription “Delete”, “Remove” or the trash icon will appear, drag our icon there and the job is done.

By deleting the application icon, it remains in the device's memory. To uninstall the program itself, also go to the “All applications” menu and follow the steps described above.

Conclusion

I hope you figured out how to create a shortcut to the Android desktop or remove unnecessary icons from the desktop. Write in the comments if you have difficulties in managing Android devices or if you encounter unexpected errors. If you are using Android version 7 and above, we will definitely supplement our instructions.

For example, let's display a shortcut to the Word program on the desktop.

Press the Start button 1. Then move the cursor (without pressing the mouse buttons) on the All Programs 2 menu. A list of programs installed on your computer opens. Use the arrow to go to this list and hover over the folder you need - Microsoft Office 3.

A list of programs included with Microsoft Office will open. Move the cursor to the program we need:
Microsoft Office Word 2003 4

Now, hovering over Microsoft Office Word 2003, press the right mouse button.

A context menu will open in front of you.

Releasing the right mouse button, move the cursor to the Send 5 item, a submenu will open on the right, in which you select the Desktop ( create shortcut) 6 and press the left mouse button.

That's it, now you can admire the program shortcut that appears on the desktop and launch Microsoft Office Word with it.

If you did not find the program you need in the Windows Main Menu

But sometimes it is not possible to find the desired program in the main menu (someone accidentally or deliberately deleted the shortcut). Don't despair, it's fixable. If the program is installed on the computer, then you need to find the launching file of the program and display a shortcut from it to the desktop.

For the Word text editor, the path will be like this. Using Windows Explorer or the Total Commander file manager, find the Program Files folder, in it - the Microsoft Office folder, then
open the OFFICE11 folder and find the WINWORD.exe file in it

On the found file, right-click to call the context menu, and then act
in a proven way. Do the same with any other program.
Find its folder in Program Files, then find the file that launches the program in the folder
(most often it has the .exe extension, but there are others). If you don’t immediately understand which file is launching, double-click to try to launch it. If the program starts, then everything is correct, this is the main file. Display a shortcut from it to the desktop using the method,
shown above.

Note: You cannot delete anything in the Program Files folder with the Delete button. Otherwise, the program
which is in this folder will stop working!

How to rename desktop icon

If you don't like the name given to the shortcut by Windows, for example, Label for Word, you can change it.

To do this, hover the cursor over the shortcut (icon), right-click to call the context menu and select the item Rename. Immediately the caption text under the label will be highlighted and you can remove the words "Label for", or rename the label entirely. After that, be sure to press the Enter key - only then your name will be saved.

Paying attention that such actions (rename, delete) can be performed with labels only(they have a small black arrow in the lower left corner of the label). Files
programs located in their folders in Program Files cannot be renamed! Otherwise, they will stop working. You can only display labels from them, and do what you want with the labels!

How to display a website shortcut on the desktop

I was asked a question by a site visitor: " How to display a site shortcut on the desktop?". At first I thought that this makes no sense, because links can be placed in Favorites. But after testing this option, I was convinced that this method of opening a site has the right to exist. After clicking on the shortcut, a web browser is launched, and at the same time the site is opened (two steps at the same time) How to create a desktop shortcut to your favorite site that you open daily Since Internet Explorer is installed with Windows on any computer, we will create a shortcut using it.

So, open Internet Explorer, open the desired site in it. Now in the File menu, move the cursor to the Send link, then to the right and click the link Desktop shortcut. Everything, label ( icon) is already on the desktop. You can check!

In this article I will describe what shortcuts are, why they are needed, how to create a shortcut, how to find out where the shortcut is located and how to delete it. And also how to remove the arrow icon on it.

Why are there arrows on the icons at all?
Program icons on the desktop are shortcuts to installed programs.
Labels, in turn, serve as a pointer to the program's executable file.
When you install a program, it often asks about creating shortcuts on the Start menu and on the Desktop. This is necessary for quick access and launch of the program.
The program itself, of course, is located in the Program Files folder on the system drive, but so that you do not run the program or game of the folder where it is installed every time, there are shortcuts.

You yourself can create such a shortcut for any program or game or folder or file and place it on the Desktop so as not to run it from the folder where it is located.
For example, you have a folder with your favorite photos and it is located along the path: E:\all photos\vasya\work\north\holiday.
The final folder is a holiday, and in order not to get to it every time, it is not at all necessary to copy or move it to the Desktop for speed, you can simply create a shortcut that will link to it. It takes only 2-4 Kb and significantly saves space.
Of course, if you are on the disk where this folder is located, you will not need this if you save space on the system disk, but you can still do this for quick access.

These methods can be applied not only to folders, but also to files.

You can get to the file either by copying the second path,
or just by pressing the button File location

Shortcuts are deleted like regular files with folders.

How to remove the arrows from the shortcut on the desktop?
I really don’t know why you need it, because I already wrote about their purpose above - you just won’t confuse the shortcut with a real file.
Perhaps this is necessary for beauty, but still I will write how to do it.
Here you need to edit. To do this, run it with the keys win + r or Start - and enter regedit.

1 way.
Go to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile registry branch and rename the IsShortcut parameter to IsNotShortcut

If you do not want to "dig" in the registry, then just download this file
It has 2 files - ubrat.reg and vernut.reg . Accordingly, to remove the arrows, press the first one, to return it as it was - the second.

Attention! This method has side effects in the form of:
- On Windows 7 and 8, you will not be able to pin the program to the taskbar.
- On windows 8, the lower left corner, right mouse click does not work.

2 way.
Arrows can be removed from labels by redirecting the arrow image.
For correct redirection, you will need an "empty" icon, which must be placed in the Windows folder (in the Start menu in the search, enter% systemroot% - in this folder and you need to save the icon).
- in the archive there is an icon and registry files, with which you can remove the arrows from the shortcuts and restore them, respectively, the names of the registry files are as follows: RemoveArrow.reg (remove) and RestoreArrow.reg (restore).

Go to the branch in the Registry Editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer

Note. On a 64-bit system, the value of the parameter should be C:\Windows\Blank.ico,0

For the registry changes to take effect, you can either end and restore the session with the computer, or reboot.

Many of us open social network pages even more often than Google and Yandex search engines. So why launch a browser and flip through bookmarks when you can open your favorite social network right from your desktop? In this article, I will tell you how to bring the Odnoklassniki icon to the desktop and make a “correct” shortcut to it. We read the article and make sure: it is not difficult at all.

Step 1. Display the classmates icon on the desktop

There are two ways to do this, one is easier than the other.

Method 1 display the classmates icon on the desktop

  1. On the desktop, call the context menu by right-clicking;
  2. Use the option "Create" - "Shortcut";
  3. The window “For which element do you want to create a shortcut?” / Paste into the address bar http://ok.ru/ and click "Next";
  4. We are asked to enter a label name. Let's not be original and type "Odnoklassniki". We click "Finish".

Think it couldn't be easier? Read the next way.

Method 2 add classmates shortcut to desktop

  1. We launch the browser and open the Odnoklassniki social network page in it;
  2. To add a shortcut to Odnoklassniki on the Desktop, click on the page icon in the address bar and transfer it to the desktop. In the Google Chrome browser it will look like this:

And in Mozilla Firefox it's a little different:

Regardless of the method you choose, the result is the same: the Odnoklassniki shortcut has appeared on the desktop.

Step 2. Make the right label

We coped with the task of placing a bookmark on classmates on the desktop. But the shortcut looks uncharacteristic: among files, folders and icons it is easy to lose it. Therefore, we will convert the shortcut classmates on the desktop.

  1. First we need an image, which we will convert into an icon. I advise you to use the picture from the title of this article: right-click on it to bring up the context menu and use the "Save As" option;
  2. Go to the page of the Convertico service and in the line "Select File From Your Computer" click "Browse". Specify the path to the Odnoklassniki picture on the hard drive and click "Go";
  3. A link to the finished icon will appear in the right part of the window. Click on the "Download" button and save the image to your computer;
  4. We return to the desktop. Right-click on the Odnoklassniki shortcut to open the context menu and select the "Properties" option. We are interested in the "Change Icon" button - click on it. Now click "Browse" and specify the path to the file of our icon. Found? Click "OK" and "Apply".

Done: the classmates shortcut is on the desktop, and thanks to the new icon, it will definitely not get lost among the icons of programs and browsers.
