How to create a wireless connection in network connections. What is a wireless connection

Often, Windows users encounter a problem when there is no wireless connection in the network connections of the laptop, and a “cross” appears on the connection status icon in the tray.

At the same time, the WiFi access point functions properly and distributes the Internet to other gadgets and devices.

Hovering the mouse over such an icon will display a "no connections available" alert. The situation is unpleasant, but do not rush to carry the PC to the service center.

After all, even if there is no Wi-Fi icon in the launched window of the Network Control Center, it is possible that the PC hardware is fully operational and does not need to be repaired.

In most cases, a similar problem can be diagnosed and solved independently. To do this, you just need to know the reasons for its occurrence and how to correctly configure the wireless connection.

A short list of possible sources of the problem and their solutions

Among the most common reasons for which there is no wireless network connection in the computer, the following can be distinguished:

Often in laptop models, the Fn buttons and one of the function keys, for example, F2, are provided for this. A bona fide manufacturer always puts an appropriate pattern on the desired button, symbolizing wireless communication.

Sometimes a separate switch with this pattern is placed on the ends of the laptop:

  1. Infection with malware. The actions in this case are obvious, you should make a complete analysis of the PC for the presence of viruses and, if detected, remove them;
  2. It often happens that the network is unavailable due to the blocking of some functions by the antivirus utility or firewall. It is recommended to temporarily try to deactivate them.

How to make sure you have a Wi-Fi adapter?

In the absence of this module, there is also no Wi-Fi icon in the tray. And if it is, but a message is displayed that there is no connection, then the device model is usually indicated by the manufacturer on a sticker that can be found on the laptop case.

The owner of a stationary PC can accurately verify the presence of a wireless receiver simply by inspecting the system unit. When an external antenna is detected, it can be concluded that it most likely belongs to the WiFi adapter.

It is very easy to determine the adapter model using the Windows tools. To this end, it is necessary to carry out only a few sequential actions:

Software

Windows provides for automatic loading of drivers, however, it happens that the software of some devices is not installed or does not work correctly.

In such cases, you need to install the software yourself. To do this, you need to take just a few steps:

If the above did not lead to a successful result, then you will need to perform the following steps:

  1. Re-enter the "Actions" tab;
  2. Click on the line "Install an old device";
  3. In the window that appears, click "Next";
  4. Specify "Automatic search" or "Manual";
  5. Then select "Network adapters";
  6. Find the device model in the list;
  7. Wait for the installation to complete and restart the PC.

If you need to update the drivers, then the algorithm will consist of the following steps:

  1. Guided by points 1 - 5 from the first instruction, launch the "Device Manager";
  2. Then, from the problematic equipment, call the context menu;
  3. Click "Update driver";
  4. It is recommended to specify "Automatic search", and the OS will find and install the software on its own;
  5. Or, if the user has downloaded the software in advance and saved it to the PC, click "Search on the computer" and show the location of the downloaded drivers.

To manually find and download the appropriate software, follow these steps:

  1. Open device developer resource;
  2. In the search field, type the model of the equipment and click "Enter";
  3. Enter the "Devices" section;
  4. Save device drivers to PC memory.

If you encounter difficulties with the manual execution of the task, you can use programs that are specially designed for installing software. One such application is "Driver Booster".

The advantage of using it mainly lies in the automatic detection of the device model and loading the latest software modifications.

Network configuration

In order for the laptop to correctly connect to Wi-Fi, you need to run diagnostics.

Diagnostics:

With the advent of wireless communication, people have gained amazing mobility. Thanks to Wi-Fi, high-speed Internet has become available, no matter where you are - at work, in a cafe or at home. The main thing is that this place is included in the network coverage area.

  • It is difficult for a modern person to imagine his life without the Internet, and even wireless. But it happens that the laptop does not see the wifi network, why this happens and what to do then, let's figure it out in detail!

    Why the laptop does not see the wifi network: possible problems and their solutions

    Let's go from the most likely to the most difficult - by elimination. Let's get started.

    The most common

    So why does the laptop not see the wifi network - this can happen due to the fact that there is no wireless Internet in principle!

    1. We will make sure that there is wireless Internet in the coverage area, for this using other devices: a tablet, smartphone, laptop or PC, we will check if they see wifi on the laptop. If yes, we follow further, if not, then he does not see wifi,.
      We found out that there is an Internet, but the laptop does not see the Wi-Fi network, why - it means that something is wrong with our device, as a rule, and here there are extremely banal solutions.
    2. See if the adapter is turned on, as a rule, it is highlighted on the keyboard with an indicator:
    • the procedure helps in most cases, otherwise we are looking for another reason why the laptop does not see wifi.

    The driver is an important component!

    We urge you not to forget that the driver is the link between the hardware and the OS. Without this talented negotiator, everything works rather crookedly or does not work at all - this may be the answer to the question - why the computer does not see the Wi-Fi network. Whether laptop or desktop, external or internal adapter connection, the solution is the same.

    If Windows version 10, follow:

    We see - the drivers are not installed:

    • go to the manufacturer and download the appropriate drivers.
    • install → restart systems
    • check if it works - we will complete it, otherwise we are looking for other reasons.

    We adapt - adaptation!

    There is such a word adapter - this is the main opportunist, in the name of the appearance of the internet, and if it is disabled, nothing will be visible!

    Let's check if it's enabled:

    Sees everything, but not what you need!

    Why does the computer not see my Wi-Fi network, but catches everyone else - and this happens. Here it is already necessary to deal with the settings of the router. Let's look at it visually on Asus models, and write commands for the rest. First, connect to another available Internet - for example, you can distribute it from your phone.

    Now, for TP-Link equipment:

    What's in a name…?

    Involuntarily, the words of the classic A.S. Pushkin. Do not think that this is a joke, sometimes there is an SSID conflict, your computer does not see Wi-Fi, but everyone else finds it. And do not believe it, it turns out that his change and Voila are enough!

    We change on the example of the Asus router with screenshots:

    If TP Link:

    Nuances!

    Each brand of laptops has its own utilities responsible for the function keys, let's take a closer look at one position, so what to do if the Lenovo laptop does not see WiFi. This is Energy Management software.

    After the release of a new version of Microsoft software, the problems snowballed. And one of them is the lack of a Wi-Fi enable button or settings, which leads to the error: "We could not find wireless devices on this computer." So, the topic of the article is solving the issue with the button, with the settings and enabling the wireless network in Windows 10. If the computer does not turn on the wireless Internet (there is no button, there are no settings, etc.), the problem lies either in the adapter or in the driver WiFi.

    If the problem with the driver or adapter is resolved and the Internet is stable, you can turn your laptop, desktop computer into a router. Create a hot-spot (we already wrote how to do this earlier) and distribute the Internet to peripheral devices - PCs, smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks.

    Interesting advice received in the comments:

    • Open the system drive, for example, "C" and use the search to find the "wireless LAN" folder.
    • Go to: C:\eSupport\eDriver\Software\WirelessLan\Qualcomm Atheros\WirelessLan\10.0.0.342\2886\.
    • There are two installation, Setup, files. Open both files and the problem will be solved.
    We hope we have helped you.
