How to reset password on windows laptop. "Global login problems" or "How to remove a password from a computer

Hello, friends! In this article we will understand how to reset Windows 7 administrator password... There are situations when a computer gets to you through seventh hands, there is an administrator account with a password. There is no one to learn it, but it is strongly necessary. So you have to use different utilities for this purpose. Here I will tell and show you how to reset the password of any account in Windows 8 and Windows 7. I also tested this program on Windows XP. Everything is working. If you need it urgently, watch the video at the end.

In order to reset the password, we need a prepared disk or flash drive. In my case, a USB flash drive, since not all computers have optical drives (my home PC does not).

If someone is comfortable on the disk, then the image below

  • cd110511.iso [~ 4,590 KB]

How to burn an image to a disc using the free and Russian utility Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 -.

To prepare a bootable flash drive, download the archive below

If you are having difficulty unpacking archives, please read.

We downloaded the archive and unpacked it.

We insert the USB flash drive into the computer.

The information on the flash drive can not be copied to another place, nothing will happen to it.

In it you need to write the command:

E: \ syslinux.exe E:

Change the letter E to the one that your flash drive took.

The successful completion of this procedure can be seen in the figure.

If you get errors or something awkward appears on the command line, try the same command with the -ma attribute (as it is described in the readme.txt instruction) or format the flash drive before preparing

j: \ syslinux.exe -ma j:

At the same time, a hidden file is formed on the USB flash drive (highlighted in the figure).

The flash drive is ready to reset the administrator password.

I tried to reset my password on Windows XP. Until I formatted the flash drive in FAT, it gave an error.

The easiest way to do this is to call the boot menu when you turn on your computer. On modern systems, this is done by pressing the F8 key. With the same button, we can get into safe mode. See a similar picture below. Select our flash drive and press Enter

If F8 does not work for you, then you can

  • Read the instructions for the motherboard
  • View at computer startup usually this key or combination is indicated
  • Go to BIOS and set boot from disk or flash drive

Press q to scroll to the bottom of the screen

In order to reset the administrator password in Windows (in our case, Windows 8), you need to press 1 and Enter.

Then you need to select the user whose password you need to knock down. The selection is made using the value in the RID column. In the Admin column, you can see which records are administrators on this computer. Built-in Administrator here has Username - 4<[email protected]>@.

We need to record the RID value of the administrator of this computer. 01a4 or 03y9

It also shows that before the RID value, you must enter "0x".

To reboot, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE. Now you can log into Windows as an administrator without a password.

Conclusion

The author of this program claims that with its help you can reset Windows 7 administrator password, Windows XP. Well, we, in turn, tested it on Windows 8 64bit. Everything is working. The main thing to remember is that when you reset the password, the encrypted user information will not be available to you. But since we do not encrypt everything and not everything, then everything will be fine.

Friends! Judging by the comments, this method does not work well for everyone. There is another way. Please try it.

Despite the fact that Microsoft has released a couple of reliable and high-performance operating systems over the past few years, Windows 7 still remains the main operating system on millions of laptops and computers. It is easy to use and familiar to many people, so the transition to new platforms today is very tedious. Like all versions of Windows, this one has a password protection function. This data security format is really effective, but sometimes certain problems can arise with it. It is not uncommon for users to forget their password, after which they cannot enter the profile and use the system in normal mode. This situation is fraught with a complete loss of access to your own important data, but this can be fixed. Finding out the administrator password in Windows 7 is not so difficult, the main thing is to find the right approach.

How to find out the administrator password in Windows 7

For forgetful administrators who constantly forget passwords by the Windows developers, there are several built-in tools for recovering or resetting passwords, such as Net User Command, Hints, Windows miniPE edition, ERD Commander, or Safe Mode. In addition to these tools, advanced users / programmers / hackers have developed special software to crack Windows administrator passwords. All these tools will be described in detail in this article.

Important: If you forget your Windows password, do not worry and worry, in any case you will be able to regain your administrator account and change the lost password to a new one!

Hacking the administrator password by brute force

The password cracking method is the most laborious, as it takes a lot of time and nerves. Here, all success depends directly on your ingenuity, memory and luck. The selection method is that you will enter the most likely values until one of them turns out to be correct. For example, you can try to drive in the date of your birth or next of kin, the day when a memorable event occurred, and so on. It is very important to try the same value in several variations, using different key registers.

Today, on the Internet, there are many questions about how to reset the Windows administrator password, well, the command line will definitely help you with this. In the very first versions of Microsoft's OS, there was no such highly developed graphical interface as it is now, and all interactions with the computer were carried out through handwritten commands in a simple shell. To use this method of communicating with a computer today, you need to open Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt. If you can't log into your account initially, then a little trick is required here.

Insert any drive with the Windows 7 installation image into your laptop or computer and boot from it by pressing the F12 key when turning on the device (depending on the BIOS version). Then you can call the interaction window with the Shift + F10 key combination, in which you need to enter the value "regedit", which opens access to the system registry. Here you will need the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry branch, after entering which click on the "File" menu and select the "Load Bush" option. So, after all that has been done, go to the root directory on the disk where your operating system is installed, for example, - C: \ Windows \ System32 \ config and open the SYSTEM. Entering any name (at your discretion) of the bootable section, enter the branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - (Section Name) - Setup. There will be several parameters for which you will need to change the values by right-clicking and selecting "Change". Set CmdLine to "cmd.exe" and SetupType to "2". Having selected the name of the loaded section in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry branch, unload the hive in the same way. Close the registry and command prompt, and remove the device with the Windows 7 image. Continuing the boot process will open the command prompt. In it you will need to enter the command net user account name new password for the account (example: net user Mikle 23568901). It is important to note that if your account name has spaces, then enter it in quotation marks. That's all.

How to Reset Windows 7 Administrator Password in Safe Mode

There is a lot of information on how to crack an administrator password on the Internet, but not all of it is well filtered. If the previous method seems too complicated for you, then try to do it differently. So, the step-by-step instruction looks something like this:

  • Go to the boot selection menu (F8 key when turning on the device);
  • Select "Safe Mode with Command Line Support";
  • Wait for the download to complete;
  • Enter the command from the previous method: net user account name new password (example: net user Mikle 23568901);

This method is much easier and easier to understand, so it is recommended to use it.

Resetting the password on the command line is done exclusively with the net user command, but there are some secrets here too. For example, if you forgot the exact name of the account, you can enter the net user command without any additional values and the system will display you all the users that are currently available. In some situations, this will help break the deadlock and easily regain access to the account. You can also start the command line from under Windows by pressing the Win + R keys and entering the CMD value.

Hacking Administrator Password in Windows 8

Windows 8 has a completely different user interface than the 7, but the way to crack the administrator password has only become easier. So, you need:

  1. Enter the system recovery section, specifically in the "Diagnostics" - "Additional parameters" menu;
  2. Next, you need to go to the command line and enter the value copy from: \ windows \ System32 \ sethc.exe from: \ temp (this will copy your setch.exe file to another folder, as it will need to be replaced with another);
  3. The next command is copy c: \ windows \ System32 \ cmd.exe c: \ windows \ System32 \ sethc.exe (will copy the cmd.exe file to the correct section);
  4. Restart your computer and press the Shift key to enter the CMD shell;
  5. "Lusrmgr.msc" - command showing the administrator's name;
  6. Enter in the command line the value net user account name new password (example: net user Mike 23568901).

As you can see, on Windows 8, cracking a password is not at all difficult, as it might initially seem.

The new operating system Windows 10 brought with it a lot of innovations, not only in terms of interface, but also functions. As before, you can change your password if you lose it. Do not be afraid of long instructions, because once you have done the procedure, the next time it will be given to you very, very easily.

Using Hints to Crack Windows 10 Password

Windows 10 has a password prompt feature that is highly recommended to use when creating one. For example, if you enter the name of your first teacher in elementary grades as the secret key, then write in the hint box. When you see this, immediately remember the information you need and regain access to your account without unnecessary headaches.

Windows miniPE edition

Bootable Windows miniPE edition will help you recover your password if it was forgotten or lost. So, the algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Insert the Windows miniPE edition media into the device and boot from it;
  2. Enter the Password Renew menu;
  3. Select your Windows folder in the Select Windows Folder item;
  4. Click on Renew existing user password by selecting the required user in the drop-down window;
  5. In the New Password field, enter your new password and click Install.
  6. Restart your computer and boot from your hard drive.

This method is good because it is universal and suitable for many systems.

Change administrator password using ERD Commander

How to find out the administrator password in Windows if the above methods did not work? Try the ERD Commander emergency boot image, which is similar in principle to the previously described Windows miniPE edition. You will need:

  1. Boot from ERD Commander disc;
  2. Select an operating system for manipulation;
  3. In System Tools, select the Locksmith Wizard item and click the Next button;
  4. Highlight the account for which you want to change the administrator password;
  5. In New Password, enter a new password, confirm the action and reboot the device.

Administrator password cracking / resetting software

It is not a good idea to use software tools to recover or crack passwords, as applications often do a poor job or have a rather high monetary value. Of the very good options, only a few can be noted, for example, the Offline NT Password and Registry editor is the most powerful tool and the most relevant today. The software works even with the latest versions of Windows, not to mention XP and earlier Microsoft products. Another good alternative is Windows Password Recovery Lastic. As the name suggests, the main purpose of this application is to remove the administrator password. I would also like to mention an application called Active Password Changer, which can be quite effective in the event that you have forgotten your password and are unable to log into your account.

To reset the administrator password in Windows 7 without being able to log into the OS through the “Guest” or simple “User” account, you need to: have a working boot (installation) disk or USB flash drive with you, follow the instructions below.

  1. Insert a bootable disk into the CD-drive or connect the USB-flash drive to the computer, then turn it on and boot the system by pressing F8 just before starting Windows. In the menu that appears, select the launch of the OS via CD or USB device.
  2. In the menu that appears, select "Install".
  3. Next, click on "System Restore". After that, the boot disk will find all the operating systems installed on your computer and open a special window with possible options for action.
  4. In the window that opens, select "Command line".
  5. In the command line, write exactly copy c: \ windows \ system32 \ sethc.exe c: \ and press Enter.
  6. Next, you need to enter exactly the text copy c: \ windows \ system32 \ cmd.exe c: \ windows \ system32 \ sethc.exe and press Enter, then you will need to confirm your actions - press "Y" (without quotes) and Enter again.
    These actions are necessary to replace the reaction of Windows OS to sticky keys by simply launching the command line with "Administrator" rights.
  7. We reboot the computer and go into the system without using a boot disk or a USB flash drive. In other words, we start Windows in the usual way.
  8. After a window appears where you need to enter a username with administrator rights and a password, press the Shift key 5-10 times until the command line appears.
  9. Then you need to enter the text "net user" space "username * user" space "new * password" (without quotes). If the username is unknown, then we enter "net user" (without quotes), press Enter and the system will indicate the name itself. Thus, you will set a new (specified by you) password for logging into Windows.

    Important: If you want to use a space in the password, enter it in "quotes" on the command line.
  10. Step 9. Reboot the system again using the boot disk, USB flash drive. And we repeat steps # 1-4. After that, instead of the text specified in the fifth step, enter copy c: \ sethc.exe c: \ windows \ system32 \ sethc.exe.
  11. We reboot the computer and start it in the usual way, without using a boot disk, flash drive. To enter the OS, we use the login and password specified in step 8.

Creating a password for an administrator account in Windows is a reliable way to protect personal information stored on your computer from other users. However, passwords are often lost or forgotten. To restore or reset them, you can either reinstall the operating system, or try to restore access to your account using special tools.

Attention! In Windows, the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) is responsible for protecting personal information from unwanted intrusions, which is highly reliable and resilient. Therefore, it is almost impossible to crack a password, especially if it is complex.

Windows 7 password recovery methods

You can recover the administrator password in Windows 7 using:

  • bootable DVD or USB flash drive with Windows 7 OS;
  • ERD Commander programs.
  • Offline NT Password and Registry editor utilities.

Restoring access to an account using a boot disk

To reset the administrator password in this way, you will need an installation disk (flash drive) with Windows 7. In this case, the assembly of the system must be exactly the same as on the computer.

The resuscitation process will look like this:

  1. The first step is to ensure that during the OS startup, information is first read from the installation disk, and then from the hard disk. To do this, while restarting the computer, press Del. The BIOS entry button may differ for different motherboard manufacturers (F2, F12, etc.).
  2. Having got to the main window of the basic I / O system, go to the Advanced BIOS Features section and, opposite the First Boot Device, set the drive installed on the PC (CDROM). After that, we save the changes made.
  3. In the DVD-ROM, install the Windows boot disk and restart the computer.
  4. In the initial installation window, you do not need to change anything, since these parameters are applied when installing Windows.
  5. In the next window, select "System Restore".
  6. After scanning the storage medium for installed systems, the corresponding window with the search results will be displayed. If the old OS is found, click "Next", if not, then you are using the disk with the wrong Windows build option.
  7. In the recovery options window, select "Command line".
  8. After entering the regedit command, the Windows Registry opens. The SAM database is located in the HKEY_LOGICAL_MACHINE registry directory. We find this branch and use the drop-down menu to "load the bush".
  9. Following the specified path, we look for the system file and open it.
  10. The program will ask you to give a name to the section being created. You can choose any name.
  11. Find the CmdLine file in the created directory and assign it the value cmd.exe, and the SetupType file - 2.
  12. After making changes, the created hive can be unloaded.
  13. After rebooting the system, a command line will appear, in which you should write net users "Administrator name" "new password".

Reset password with ERD Commander

ERD Commander is a free program that allows you to reanimate Windows in many cases (blocking your computer with viruses, losing your administrator account password, accidentally erasing important data, etc.).

Before starting the password reset (recovery) operation, you need to download this utility and mount a bootable USB flash drive or disk from it. You should also change the order of reading information in the BIOS. How this is done is described above.

After completing the preliminary settings, you can proceed directly to recovering the administrator password:

Using the Offline NT Password and Registry editor utility

This program has been added to the graphical interface, but this does not in any way affect its functioning and efficiency. The procedure for resetting the administrator password will be as follows:

  1. We download the utility, make a bootable USB flash drive out of it and set the BIOS to read information from the USB flash in the first place.
  2. We insert the USB flash drive into the corresponding connector and restart the PC.
  3. After loading the program, we do not change anything in the first window. We press Enter.
  4. In the second window, select the Windows system partition (1, 2, etc.). Here you should focus on the volume of media.
  5. We indicate the path to the SAM folder. The default path is automatically assigned, so just press Enter.
  6. Then we press "1", thereby choosing the password reset procedure.

If you suddenly forgot the password for your Windows account, then you have no choice but to look for a way to reset it or install a new operating system, which in my opinion is sheer madness in this case :) Now on the Internet you can find many different reset methods passwords for Windows operating systems using the built-in boot tools of Windows itself, as well as using third-party special programs. Some methods are suitable for some versions of Windows, some for others, and some methods are too complicated for beginners. Earlier in one of the articles I showed one of the ways to reset the password using a bootable console program built on Linux, but all actions there must be performed in the form of commands on a black screen and this can be difficult for beginners.
In this article, I will show the simplest way to reset an account password in any version of Windows (I tried it even on Windows 10) using the Reset Windows Password boot program. The reset process is just 4 steps!

I want to warn you right away that if you used a Microsoft account to log in on your computer, and not a standard local one, then none of the programs will be able to reset its password, since the password for a Microsoft account can only be changed on the company's website. Therefore, this method, like all similar ones, works only if you have forgotten the password for the standard local Windows account!

The program is bootable, that is, it cannot be simply installed on a computer as is usually done. The program will start from a disk or flash drive at the stage of computer boot. Those. the program must first be written to a disk or USB flash drive!

Creating a bootable disk / flash drive with the Reset Windows Password program and launching it

After the program is downloaded, you need to write it to a disk or USB flash drive. Instructions for burning a program in the form of an ISO file on a CD / DVD disc are located, and for recording a program in ISO on a USB flash drive -.

Since modern laptops can often be found without a disk drive for reading disks, I think most people will find a way to write a program to a USB flash drive, especially since every computer owner has it.

After you write the program to a disk or USB flash drive, you need to run it. To do this, you need to restart the computer and configure your BIOS so that the computer boots not as usual from a hard disk, but from a recorded USB flash drive or CD / DVD disc.

In a separate article, I gave instructions on how to configure the BIOS to boot a computer from a disk or flash drive, read it if you are experiencing difficulties loading the program:

Each computer may have its own peculiarity of configuring boot from a specific device, so it will not be possible to give clear recommendations ... But the article on the link above should help the majority.

When the program starts to run, you will see a window similar to booting a regular Windows 7:

Working with the program

When the Reset Windows Password boot program starts, you will need to configure the program in the first window.

First of all, select the Russian language (1), then in the "Mode of operation" section, select the item "SAM - work with regular accounts" (2) and at the end under the inscription "What do you want to do?" select "Reset or change user password" (3). When everything is set up, click "Next" (4) at the bottom of the window.

The program will perform exactly the password reset (i.e., erasing it, resetting it to zero), and not replacing the old password with a new one!

In the next window, we can select the path to the "SAM" and "SYSTEM" folders to reset the password.

If you are using standard Windows, where nothing has been globally altered, then the paths do not need to be changed and they will already be set correctly:

C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Config \ SAM
C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Config \ SYSTEM

At stage 3, select in the window the Windows account for which we want to reset the password (1) and click "Next" (2).

At the last 4th stage, we press the "Reset / Change" button:

You will be prompted to make a rollback file. With the help of this file, you can restore the system's ability to work in case of its "breakdown" after the program is running.

In general, the program does not go where it is not needed and does not make any serious changes in Windows, so it is easier not to create a rollback file by clicking "No" in this window.

A notification will appear stating that the account has been changed (the password has been reset) and you can close the program and check the changes. Just click "OK" (1) in the notification window and then "Exit" (2) in the program itself.

Now remove the disk / flash drive with the program from the computer and restart it. Windows should boot immediately without asking for a password!

As you can see, this method for resetting the password for Windows accounts is very simple and difficulties may arise, perhaps, only at the stage of loading a program from a USB flash drive or disk. But among all the methods for resetting a password, I did not find a single one that allows you to reset your password without booting from a special boot disk. Therefore, you still can't do without it and it's easier to deal with password reset than reinstalling Windows :))

Have a nice day and great mood! See you in the following articles;)
