Users who don't do this will find their system shutting down every hour. The same will happen after 90 days of using the trial version, if you do not buy a license.
How to extend the trial period to 360 days?
Despite the fact that Microsoft gave us the opportunity to "play" their system for free for only 3 months, I have been using Windows 7 Enterprise since the end of September, and to this day (March 31), that is, at least 6 months. At the same time, I did not buy a license, and did not use any cracks, patches or pirated keys. The secret lies in a small hidden feature of the Software License Manager utility (slmgr.exe), which is designed to calculate the remaining trial period. This utility is controlled from the command line, and among the commands it processes is the command " -rearm" (without quotes).
This command resets the counter of days during which you have already used the system, and the report starts again. You can only use this command three times, but that's not bad. In the case of the Beta version of Windows 7, which had a trial period of only 30 days, using this hidden feature, it was possible to extend the trial period to 120 days. It's not difficult to calculate that for Windows 7 Enterprise Build 7600, the trial period can be 360 days. In order to reset the Software License Manager counter, we will need to enter the value “slmgr –rearm” (without quotes) on the command line, press Enter and restart the computer.
So, let's look at everything in more detail.
You can see the number of days that you still have in the lower right corner of the desktop. The same information is displayed in the system properties. In order to view information about your computer, you need to click on the start button, then right-click on the “Computer” item and select “Properties” from the menu
At the very bottom, you will see information about activating Windows. I will provide all the screenshots from my machine to make it easier for you to understand the process of resetting the trial period counter.
As you can see, at the moment I have 37 days of the "free" period left. Now we will enter our command into the Windows command line. You can open the command line through the Start menu, as shown in the screenshot. Please note that you need to run it as an administrator.
Enter value slmgr -rearm and press Enter. A window should appear indicating that the command completed successfully.
Reboot the system, and again go to the system information. Here we can see that our copy of the trial version Windows Enterprise Build 7600 not yet activated. That is, it is in the same state as after its first installation on the computer.
We just have to re-activate it via the Internet by clicking on the link “10 days left. to perform activation. Activate Windows now" and we will again have a whole 90 days to "test" the new operating system from Microsoft. Click on the link, select activate via the Internet, and we get the following picture:
In this simple way, you can extend the "life" of your trial version of Windows 7. This will allow you to postpone the purchase and wait until Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is released.
The start of sales of Windows 7 in the fall of 2009, despite the extensive advertising campaign, was not marked by rush demand. Fearing to buy another defect like Vista, users were in no hurry to switch to a new product. However, there is one way to legally extend a 90-day license up to a year.
Renewing your Windows 7 Enterprise license up to 360 days
According to the terms of the agreement, in order to use the system for 3 months, the user must register it within the first 10 days after installation. If this is not done, Windows 7 will turn off hourly and remind you that it is time to pay the copyright holder, otherwise you are a pirate. The same thing happens after 90 days.
But how does Windows 7 Enterprise determine how much it has left to work before the end of the license period? The system utility slmgr.exe (Software License Manager) is responsible for this. She not only counts the days, but can also manage the counter. This is the function we need. In short, if you run slmgr.exe with the -rearm switch, the counter will be reset to zero.
The operation is performed as follows:
- open the system properties (by right-clicking on the “Computer” shortcut, selecting the “Properties” item, or by launching the “System” control panel applet);
- at the bottom of this window you can read how much time is left until the end of the license - in our example it is 27 days;
- run the command console (cmd.exe) as administrator;
- enter the command “slmgr.exe -rearm” into it (without quotes);
- press Enter.
After a message about the success of the operation, restart the computer and look again at the system properties.
This time, at the bottom of the window there will be a message that the activation has not yet been completed and you have 10 days to complete it. Let's not waste time - do it now. And now, our license is again valid for 90 days.
That is, after using Windows 7 Enterprise 3 free months, you can renew the license for the same amount. In total, this operation can be repeated 3 times, from which in total 360 days are obtained. Almost a whole year of freebies. This is how Windows 7 volume licensing works. Handy, isn't it?
We showed how the method works when we had 27 days left in the license period. But we advise you to wait until the counter is 0, otherwise this period will end faster for you. After all, the counter is completely reset to zero and the remaining days simply “burn out”.
Method Limitations
Do your eyes light up and your hands itch? Let me cool down your enthusiasm a bit. For free, you also have to pay something. The fact is that Microsoft some time ago covered up the “attraction of unheard of generosity”, and the method stopped working. Now you can renew the license in this way only in the following cases:
- you have installed Windows Enterprise Build 7600 on your computer - it is no longer on the official Microsoft website, but you can still find it somewhere on the network;
- as long as it remains possible to renew the license in the manner described above, that is, you have not “used up” 360 days, the system should not be updated.
Why can't you install updates? Because with their help this “shop” is closed. Therefore, your Windows will be at risk of virus attacks and other surprises that promise unpatched vulnerabilities for almost a year. Arranges? Then go ahead. And if not, after the end of the trial period, there are two ways: buy a key and renew the license to an officially unlimited license or use a pirated activation. What is best for you is up to you.

The main disadvantage of using activators is the possible blocking of the license after the next system update.
